Man Man Announces 2022 Headlining Tour Dates in Support Of Dream Hunting in The Valley of The In-Between + Shares New Song “Dig Deep”
Pop absurdist Man Man is (FINALLY!) embarking on his first headlining tour in support of Dream Hunting in the Valley of the In-Between , his group’s wonderful Sub Pop debut and acclaimed album of 2020. The tour begins Wednesday, June 22nd in Omaha at the Waiting Room and ends on Saturday, August 6th in San Diego at the Casbah, and will have stops in Chicago, Pittsburgh, Brooklyn, St. Louis, Denver, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle and Los Angeles. Like many others, Man Man’s initial touring for the album was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic, and these shows will be the first time to see these “cacophonous…theatrical pop songs ( Rolling Stone )” performed live. Wed. Jun. 22 - Omaha, NE - Waiting Room Fri. Jun. 24 - Chicago, IL - Sleeping Village Sun. Jun. 26 - Grand Rapids, MI - Pyramid Scheme Tue. Jun. 28 - Pittsburgh, PA - Club Cafe Wed. Jun. 29 - Washington, DC - Union Stage Thu. Jun. 30 - Ardmore, PA - Ardmore Music Hall Fri. Jul. 01 - Brooklyn, NY - Elsewhere Sat. Jul. 02 - Boston, MA - Brighton Music Hall Tue. Jul. 05 - Cleveland, OH - Grog Shop Wed. Jul. 06 - Indianapolis, IN - Hi Fi Thur. Jul. 07 - St Louis, MO - Old Rock House Fri. Jul. 08 - Lawrence, KS - Bottleneck Sat. Jul 09 - Denver, CO - Bluebird Tues. Jul. 26 - Santa Cruz, CA - The Atrium at The Catalyst Wed. Jul. 27 - San Francisco, CA - The Chapel Thu. Jul. 28 - Redding, CA - The Dip Fri. Jul. 29 - Portland, OR - Mississippi Studios Sat. Jul. 30 - Seattle, WA - Neumos Thur. Aug. 04 - Pioneertown, CA - Pappy & Harriet’s Fri. Aug. 05 - Los Angeles, CA - The Roxy Sat. Aug. 06 - San Diego, CA - Casbah Tickets for these headlining shows go on sale Friday, April 1st at 10 am (local). As an added bonus, Man Man is also releasing the newly remixed and remastered track “Dig Deep,” a song recorded following the release of Dream Hunting in the Valley of the In-Between , and is available now on all DSPs from Sub Pop. What people are saying about Man Man’s Dream Hunting in the Valley of the In-Between : “It makes sense that Ryan Kattner of Man Man would release his best album to date during a pandemic. His band persona, Honus Honus, is perpetually down on his luck — bizarre and lovelorn, lonely and insane — haunted. In short, he’s all of us right now.” ★★★★ Rolling Stone “In times as chaotic as these, Man Man provides a restless soundtrack to match.” - Exclaim! “Based on “Cloud Nein” and this [“Future Peg”], it looks like Man Man are picking up where they left off with all the mood-lifting horns and fantastical vocal harmonies you could want.” -Consequence Of Sound “Honus Honus—a.k.a. Ryan Kattner—is back with his freewheeling off-kilter pop group Man Man, and possibly its most accessible record yet. As eclectic as ever, the sprawling mix of horns, keys, percussion, guitars, and more remains a half-step away from sounding like the most unusual cabaret act in modern times.” - The AV Club “The songs are served well by more polished production, tunes like “On the Mend” and album standout “Future Peg” molding the band’s unbridled energy into pop structures that would sit well on commercial FM rock radio playlists. The melodies are clear and neatly presented without neutering the group’s signature chaos or adventurous arrangements.” - All Music “Revives the band’s wry sense of the grotesque, juxtaposed with joyfully unhinged and happily unpredictable music. Dream Hunting is full of other fun musical allusions — to the cartoon soundtracks of Carl Stallings, to Caribbean carnival music, to David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” — and the melodies are more accessible and the hooks more overt than in the past. Lyrically, the songs are bleak, full of breakups and meltdowns, broken dreams and maladies. The contrast is cathartic, and Man Man’s return is a treat.” - Philadelphia Inquirer “ Dream Hunting in the Valley of the In-Between has the feel of a quality thrift store, with lots of unusual pieces in great condition. It also provides the same kind of fun surprises as you wade deeper into the album. Man Man has always had theatrical elements but here those elements feel much closer to the surface, if not ready to burst through, then at least enjoying their time in the in-between of the more familiar tracks (8.5/10)” - Northern Transmissions “The piano-based songs carry elements of jazz and rock, with Kattner’s keen ear for sing-along melodies matched only by his desire to attack such melodies with unexpected bursts of bedlam. Those tumultuous bursts, occurring frequently and usually without warning, are part of what makes Dream Hunting in the Valley of the In-Between so exciting, with no dull moments even over 17 tracks of content.” - Glide Magazine Dream Hunting in the Valley of the In-Between is ultimately an enjoyable record from a unique band. - Under the Radar
Dream Hunting in the Valley of the In-Between Tracklisting: 1. Dreamers 2. Cloud Nein 3. On the Mend 4. Lonely Beuys 5. Future Peg 6. Goat 7. Inner Iggy 8. Hunters 9. Oyster Point 10. Man accused of killing his mother during Almere robbery faces 15 years in prison
The Public Prosecution Service (OM) has demanded 15 years in prison against a man suspected of killing his mother in her home in Almere and then robbing her in May 2022. According to the OM, the 55-year-old man from Lelystad was stealing from his mother to buy drugs and killed her when she caught him in the act.
The 77-year-old woman was found dead in her bed on 28 May 2022. While there were no signs of forced entry, several items were missing from her home, prompting the police to further investigate her death. The autopsy showed that the woman had likely been suffocated.
The victim’s 55-year-old son was arrested in September 2022. According to the OM, the man went to his mother’s house during the night of 27 to 28 May to look for money. “It is likely that he was caught by his mother, who was already in bed, and that this confrontation resulted in the violent death of the woman to conceal the theft.”
Evidence against the man includes that his car was parked near his mother’s home on the night of her death and DNA found on her pajamas and two pillows. Investigation showed that the suspect’s car drove back from Almere to Lelystad after the woman’s death and slowed down at a specific location. “The victim’s stolen handbag and telephone were later found on the shoulder of the highway around this location.” According to the OM, the man also changed his statements several times after being confronted with evidence and demonstrably lied about his alibi and possessing a key to his mother’s house.
“Looking at the entire file, the OM believes it was the suspect who was responsible for his mother’s death,” the OM said. “The OM sees the suspect’s drug addiction as a motive. The investigation showed that the man was fervently looking for money in the period surrounding his mother’s death. After he returned to Lelystad that night, he also immediately bought drugs.”
The OM found no evidence that the man planned to kill his mother, which is why he is charged with qualified manslaughter - manslaughter with the aim of concealing another crime - and not murder.
The court will rule on June 28.

Alan Jackson has one last good time in him.
The 65-year-old country icon just announced his ‘Last Call: One More for the Road Tour’ that will take him to arenas all over the U.S. from August 2024 up until May 2025.
And while he hasn’t announced a New York or New Jersey show, he will come close when he performs at Boston’s TD Garden on Friday, Aug. 2.
“This is one last call that you don’t want to miss,” Jackson shared on Instagram .
Fans may be surprised that Jackson is returning to the stage one more time; there was speculation that his 2022 tour was his last since he’d been diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth aka CMT, a chronic neuropathy condition that makes walking and holding things difficult, in 2021.
As of now, the upcoming run appears to be his swan song.
If you want to hear him bust out all the classics you know and love — “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere,” “Chattahoochee,” “Little Bitty” and so many more — tickets are available as soon as today.
Fans can purchase tickets for all upcoming shows on sites like Vivid Seats ; the official on-sale is Friday, June 7.
Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.
They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.
A complete calendar including all tour dates, venues, and links to buy tickets can be found below.

According to Setlist.FM , here’s what he took to the stage that night.

About Lynyrd Skynyrd:
As Lynyrd Skynyrd approaches the 50 th anniversary of the band’s critically acclaimed debut album ‘Pronounced ‘Lĕh-‘nérd ‘Skin-‘nérd’ in 2023, they resonate as deeply with their multi-generational fan base today as when they first emerged out of Jacksonville, Florida in 1973. Few ensembles have had the deep impact in creating a lifestyle as Skynyrd has. The band travels forward with a primary mission of celebrating a legacy that honors all whom have had a resonating contribution to the lives of hundreds of millions of fans globally. Former members Ronnie Van Zant, Allen Collins, Steve Gaines, Ed King, Billy Powell, Bob Burns, Leon Wilkeson and Hughie Thomasson alongside others will forever remain significant contributors to this indelible repertoire and the band’s colorful history. Today, Lynyrd Skynyrd rocks on with a current line-up featuring Johnny Van Zant, Rickey Medlocke, Mark “Sparky” Matejka, Michael Cartellone, Keith Christopher, Peter Keys, Carol Chase and Stacy Michelle. Gary Rossington continues to have a significant presence and creative influence with the band, while making select appearances on the road.
The rock and roll powerhouse continually tours, and as Van Zant shares, “It’s about the legacy of Lynyrd Skynyrd, and what it stands for, what the fans are all about. There’s nothing like getting out there playing a great show with Skynyrd and seeing people love this music.” Adds Rossington, “We’re still standing, Still keeping the music going. We wanted to do the guys who aren’t with us any more proud, and keep the name proud, too.”
With a catalog of over 60 albums, billions of streams, and tens of millions of records sold, Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Lynyrd Skynyrd remain a cultural icon that appeal to all generations.
About ZZ Top:
“That Little Ol’ Band From Texas” has been at it for well over a half century delivering rock, blues and boogie on stage and studio to millions of devoted fans. With iconography as distinctive as their sound, ZZ TOP is globally recognized with their beards, hotrod cars, spinning guitars and that magic keychain, all of which transcend geography and language.
It was in 1969 Houston when ZZ TOP coalesced from the core of two rival bands, Billy Gibbons’ Moving Sidewalks and Frank Beard and Dusty Hill’s American Blues. ZZ Top’s 1973 release, Tres Hombres , catapulted them to national attention with the hit “La Grange,” still one of the band’s signature pieces today. Eliminator , their 1983 album was something of a paradigm shift for ZZ TOP. Their roots blues skew was intact and added to the mix came their hightech-age trappings that soon found a visual outlet with such tracks as “Sharp Dressed Man” and “Legs” on the nascent MTV. It was one of the record industry’s first albums to have been certified Diamond, far beyond Gold and Platinum, a reflection of sales exceeding 10 million units.
As a touring outfit, they’ve been without peer over the past five decades, having performed before millions of fans over four continents and have been the subject of their own Grammy-nominated documentary titled That Little Ol’ Band From Texas. The band’s line-up of the bearded Gibbons and Hill and Beard, who ironically is clean shaven, remained intact for more than 50 years. When Dusty temporarily departed the tour in the summer of 2021, Elwood Francis entered the picture accepting the directive from Dusty to be the perfect choice to stand in on the bass-guitar and now handles the low-end duties for the band for the present as well as into the future.
The elements that keep ZZ TOP fresh, enduring can be summed up in the three words of the band’s internal mantra: “Tone, Taste and Tenacity”. As genuine roots performers, they have few peers. Their influences are both the originators of the form – Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Jimmy Reed, et al – as well as the British blues rockers and Jimi Hendrix who emerged generations before ZZ’s ascendance.
They have sold hundreds of millions of records over the course of their career, have been officially designated as Heroes of The State of Texas, inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (by Keith Richards, no less) and have been referenced in countless cartoons and sitcoms. They are true rock icons and, against all odds, they’re really just doing what they’ve always done. ZZ TOP abides!

Tuesday 14th February. Clapham Grand. Rag n Bone Man. It’s been over twenty years since I last visited the Clapham Grand and so this Valentines night I and my lovely wife find ourselves here to see Rag n Bone Man and support War Child.
I would be amazed if there is anyone in the country who is not aware of him as a result of media saturation recently and much hype. Billed as the saviour of soul we are about to find out if he can live up to the hype.
Well he certainly opens the set impressively coming on stage solo with just a guitar for accompaniment. Belting out an impassioned version of ‘Reuben’s Train’. Bedecked in a T Shirt that resembles one of those Magic Eye pictures he is the joined by the band.
What follows is an hour or so of OK soul tunes that don’t really move you or force you to take that step back and think wow. There are moments of course when he hits the highs and really unleashes the voice but they are few although the breakthrough single ‘Human’ is top drawer.
It’s difficult to know whether you want him to let go and really belt out the songs or take a step back, shut the band down, and build some intimacy and feeling.
The crowd love it though and maybe I’m just a cynical old man but I think the quality of songs needs to improve if he is going to sustain the current industry train he is riding. I suggest that they go back to listen to how it should be done from the sixties.
Clearly a talent and with more consistently good tunes and a bit more felling he could be the real deal.
A good not great night and keep on rockin y’all

This guy is absolutely incredible live! His band backs him up very well. He has a powerful, soulful voice. Hearing this man's one-of-a-kind voice alone is worth the price of addmission. Definitely a must see artist and a star in the making! I can't wait for the day to come where he is topping the charts and selling out stadiums. He has the god given talent with his voice and the strength in his songwriting to make it happen with the right opportunity. His record label should consider themselves very lucky to have an artist of this caliber on their roster. I'm not entirely sure why they aren't putting more effort into getting him better radio airplay and booking bigger shows for him in the United States, but they should be! I paid 20 bucks to see him in Detroit in 2018 and I was lucky enough to meet him after the show. The humility and the heart this guy has is what really makes him special. He really appreciates each and every one of his fans and he is doing music because he loves being up on stage performing. Even if this guy never makes it huge around the world like he deserves to, I am thankful to have been able to meet him and see him perform once in my lifetime. Keep on being awesome Rag'n'Bone Man, because you sir, are a class act!
Went to see my first Rag n Bone Man concert at Alexandra Palace on the 8 March 2018. The venue was standing only. Perfect for this type of concert. Do not knock this artist until you have seen him live and he is worth seeing live. I full heartedly recommend it. I dare you to not enjoy 2 hours of pure perfection. His voice was to die for. He performed a different version of 'Human'. Brilliant! Rory is as talented as any artist right now and he came across as a sincere performer with it. He surprisingly had an audience of fans ranging from my son's aged 14 right up to hip 60 year olds. His stage presence was sincere and extremely professional. The band and backups were right on the money. There were influnces in his performznce from the Blues, reggae, drum n bass and rock. Loved it all. Very clever.I WILL be seeing him again. If you get the chance go and see what every one is talking about. He still has that air of not being totally commercialised, but still maintaining that underground edge which is the sign of longevity,I hope, in the music industry. Having seen him live I have come away loving this man and his music 100 fold. I dare you not to.
OMG what a wonderful evening !
It started out hysterical for me (uhm me? I mean Rory) because Rory was on his way to the pub when I arrived at the Melkweg......I don't know what happened but suddenly I thought I was 16 again....ran to him, gave him a hug and told him how I loved him (?????? I meant his music ofcourse, but couldn't think straight anymore hahaha).....luckely he's about 30cm bigger, otherwise I think I would have give him a kiss too (I embarressed myself pretty because I'm 54 years old hahahaha) I was walking on sunshine the whole night (3 days later still hahaha)
The concert was .....wow.....seriousely better then I hoped.....goosebumps, a little tear now and then, sometimes he was a bit out of tune, but hey......aren't we all human after all.(also refering to my "stupid" action earlier)
Rag 'n bone gained a new fan,a hardcore fan !!
I'm not a serious stalker ofcourse but the way I feal about him, his music and lyrics I only felt once in my life about an artist and his name was David Bowie and that lasts already about 40 years !
Thanks Rory !!
Having seen Rag N Bone man in Manchester's "intimate" Deaf Institute 2 years ago, it's incredible to see how far he's come. The lighting and staging are bigger and better, the band and backing singers have grown also, but there's 2 main reasons you'll want to see this man in the flesh. 1. The voice. Like a seasoned whiskey, it's smooth but strong and even more incredible live. 2. The music. The slow builds through the verses to the crescendo's of the chorus' on songs like "hell yeah" and "human" will ensure you lose yourself in it all. There were no weak songs on last nights Zurich set and if you're thinking of seeing him live I'd encourage you to listen to his pre-human repatoir, if you haven't already, as some of these feature and there's no better way to enjoy the occasion than singing along!
Last night was one that will live long in the memory. As I've already said, we found ourselves completely lost in the music, track after track, like no other live artist I've seen has ever managed. Go and see Rag N Bone Man now!
We saw rag'n'bone man two days ago. It was really good!
He was just really amazing and mind blowing even for me who isn't a hardcore fan.
He was really charming and not really making a big show but that wasn't necessary. He talked to the fans and made us laugh.
He was really great.
The only thing that was a bit disappointing was the fact that we barely found the hall were he was supposed to play. An hour before the opening there were like only a couple of people there which i thought was i bit unusual for someone so famous.
(The concert was in vienna at the gasometer)
Most people had like a huge stick up their behinds and weren't dancing nor singing which disappointed us a bit. We tried to compensate the lack of intressed from the other's by screaming and singing even louder.
All in all it was an amazing show 13/10 would recommend.
At Dubai Opera Rag ‘n’ Bone Man excelled himself! Performing many of his well know compositions including Bitter End, Human and Odetta, with some stories by way of explanation, he had the audience singing loudly and dancing cheerfully, where some of them stood, in the Fan Pit.
His rapping alone carried us along into sheer mesmerising mode. The deep sexy tones of his vocals made us quiver in awe. What a fabulous performer, personable and warm. (At one point he had a drink and as he was about to start the next song he burped into the microphone. The entire opera house burst into laughter as he himself was highly amused at this unique blip)!
He’s welcome back to the sand any time soon with his talented musicians and back up singer who, of course, added to mmthe overall enjoyment of the event.
Disappointing Night,
Rag'n'bone Man was brilliant, he is super talents with a great voice.
The problem was with the first act 'Rum.Com' they were ineligible with their babble, it was simply noise which the whole audience were talking and shouting over. 'Dan Calpen' the second act was much better but he was drowned out by constant chatter from the audience.
The audiences behaviour really ruined what should have been an alright night, costantly talking through all the performances. I was totally disrespectful of the performers ans their fellow members of the audience . It appeared that they weren't there to watch the act there to get drunk. I lost count of the amount of times I was shoved by someone going to or from the bar.
A good night spoilt by numpties.
keep up the spirit
I had high expectations for this show as I have all his albums and adore his voice. I was not disappointed. He was fantastic. His voice was perfect, he was quite overwhelmed with the adulation of the audience. He came across as a really nice bloke. Would highly recommend seeing him. As someone else said previously. If you are not familiar with his earlier work it would enhance the show if you listened to his other work namely the albums 'Wolves' and 'Disfigured'as he does sing from these albums. They are definitely worth getting if you are a fan anyway. FANTASTIC show and am already looking for when I can see him again.

N.J. man pleads guilty in head-on crash that killed woman

A man accused of driving while intoxicated in a crash the killed another motorist in Gloucester County has agreed to enter a guilty plea in return for a three-year prison sentence.
Patrick M. Dunn, 44, of Harrisonville , was driving a pickup truck on Ellis Mill Road in Elk Township shortly before 7 p.m. on Nov. 1, 2022, when the vehicle collided head-on with a car driven by Amy Buchanan, 56, of Gloucester Township, according to police.
Buchanan died at the scene.
A police officer detected a strong odor of alcohol from Dunn’s vehicle and reported his speech was slurred, and his eyes were watery and bloodshot, a prosecutor previously stated in court.
Dunn was unable to complete field sobriety tests and while speaking to an officer at the scene, he made a “spontaneous statement that he had a couple of beers,” according to Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Jonathan Amira.
A grand jury indicted Dunn last year on a second-degree count of reckless death by auto and third-degree strict liability vehicular homicide.
Under a plea agreement signed Tuesday, Dunn agreed to plead guilty to second-degree death by auto.
In return, the prosecutor will recommend a three-year prison sentence, according to the plea form.
Sentencing is scheduled for July 26.
Dunn’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the case on Wednesday.
Buchanan was remembered as a “loving wife, mother, and daughter” who “always had a smile and encouragement to offer all,” according to her obituary.

Singapore Badminton Open 2024, live streaming: Focus on PV Sindhu, Lee Zii Jia and Loh Kean Yew - where to watch
The Singapore Open 2024 badminton tournament will start on Tuesday and run till June 2. Watch live!
Reigning Olympic singles champions Viktor Axelsen and Chen Yufei will headline a world-class assortment of top global stars at the Singapore Badminton Open 2024 BWF Super 750 tournament, which gets underway in Kallang from Tuesday.
Live streaming of the 2024 Singapore Open badminton matches will be available in India, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Australia.
On the road to defend his Olympic crown at the Paris 2024 Summer Games, Axelsen won the Malaysia Masters men’s singles title on Sunday, ousting Malaysian ace Lee Zii Jia in the final.
The world No. 1 Dane will look to build on the momentum at Singapore and is the top seed for the badminton tournament, which he has never won in the past. Axelsen will start his campaign against India’s Lakshya Sen, the reigning Commonwealth Games champion.
Tenth in world badminton rankings , Lee will be eyeing a hat-trick of finals after making the title deciders in Thailand and Malaysia this month.
Two-time defending Singapore Open men’s singles champion Anthony Sinisuka Ginting will be the seventh seed for this year’s competition while his Indonesian compatriot Jonatan Christie, the reigning All England champion, is seeded third.
The home challenge, meanwhile, will be fronted by former world champion Loh Kean Yew, who is slated to face the People’s Republic of China’s Lu Guangzu in his opening match.
The Republic of Korea’s An Seyoung will be in Singapore to defend her women’s singles crown as the top seed. Reigning Olympic champion Chen and Rio 2016 gold medallist Carolina Marin are seeded second and third, respectively.
Tai Tzu-ying was seeded fourth but the Chinese Taipei star has since withdrawn.
China’s Wang Zhiyi, who beat India’s two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu to clinch the Malaysia Masters title last week, will be the seventh seed.
Sindhu, unseeded in the tournament, won the Singapore Open title back in 2022, which also happens to be her last title on the BWF World Tour. Following her run in Kuala Lumpur, the Indian star will also be out to end the drought in Singapore.
India’s Chirag Shetty/Satwiksairaj Rankireddy will be the top billing in the men’s doubles competition and are on the lookout for their third title of the season after the French and Thailand Open.
Tokyo 2020 silver medal winners Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan of China are the No. 1 seeds in women’s doubles.
Paris 2024-bound Australian women’s doubles pair of Setyana Mapasa and Angela Yu will also be in action at the Singapore Open 2024.

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.
Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.
Belfry and Neighbouring Churches
Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.
To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.
Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral
The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.
Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.
Tsaritsa's Chambers
The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.
At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.
Palace of Tsar Alexis
The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.
