Job summary:.

The Corporate Travel Coordinator will arrange business travel for employees, identifying the most cost-effective and efficient travel arrangements and making necessary reservations for accommodations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/responsibilities:.

  • Researches and compares available travel and hotel accommodations to identify the best available option for each travel need.
  • When travel arrangements are within approved travel reasons and budget limits, makes all arrangements and reservations as requested.
  • Prepares travel itineraries and distributes travel arrangements and schedules to all appropriate staff.
  • Obtains approval from leadership for travel requests and expenses that exceed established limits.
  • Advises travelers of and assists with any need for specialized travel documents such as visas or passports.
  • Monitors and facilitates the use of company air travel credit cards, frequent flyer programs, and other applicable rewards and loyalty programs.
  • Processes reimbursements for travel expenses.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of the travel industry.
  • Excellent decision-making skills with the ability to assess multiple options and to identify the best choice to serve a specified goal.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma required; some higher education preferred.
  • Previous training and experience with SABRE or similar travel software highly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

The Business & Technical Support Supervisor role is part of Customer Engagement which forms one of several groups within the IT Workplace Technology Services teams that provides Web Technology Services, Web Content Management Services, Cloud Tools and Hosting Services, Messaging and Collaboration Services, E-Signature Services, Business Intelligence and Analytics services and support for the campus community.

The Workplace Technology Services (WTS) team provides campus-wide services including email & collaboration, Web Content & Case Management, Business Intelligence and analytics platforms, Technology Platform Services, Service Operations, Service Desk, and Endpoint Management [(Field Support, HW Procurement/Sysadmin duties/MDM/Backup) and Software Licensing Support for UC San Diego and affiliates]. As part of the Endpoint Management team, the Field Support team provides direct support for end-user devices and peripherals, consultation regarding best practices, guidance for utilization of end-user tools, and general assistance to enable the supported customer base to access needed IT services.

Leveraging the University’s implementation of its enterprise-wide service management platform (ServiceNow) all members of the IT Workplace Technology Services team, including the Customer Engagement team, will be provided opportunities to identify and standardize service processes across the IT environment.

New initiatives that will actively include the Endpoint Management team is implementation of the ServiceNow Hardware Asset Management component to track and manage the end-to-end lifecycle of hardware assets for supported units and the fully utilizing integrated Information Technology Services department in support of the university's mission for critical teaching, learning, and research.

Responsibilities:

~Prioritizes tasks and assignments delegated by management and clients. Establishes procedural methods and policies to insure smooth delivery of routine services. Works on issues of limited scope. Requires full knowledge of own area of functional responsibility.

~Provide hardware and software technical support to over 5,000 customers throughout the UC System. (i.e. Resource Management and Planning, Advancement, Housing, Dining & Hospitality, Human Resources, Business and Financial Services, Research Affairs, and Information Technology Services)

~Applies professional business/technical support concepts to resolve escalated hardware, software and networking issues of moderate scope and complexity for a broad range of applications where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.

~Provides strategic input to system redesign or development efforts based on user needs. Ability to work independently in managing Customer Service Requests in order to meet Service Level Agreements, to include but not limited to the availability of network shares and printers for supported areas, Active Directory administration and resolution of escalated tickets.

~Responsible for the troubleshooting, maintenance and administration of Windows OS, iOS, and Android based hardware, including network/server connectivity. This may require contacting hardware and software vendors for support if required.

~Monitor and update workstation imaging documentation, software packages, and proactively coordinate making adjustments to them to ensure system reliability and availability. Work closely with server/network/security administrators to maintain user policies and logon scripts to ensure appropriate security rights are provisioned to end users on the network. Conduct capacity planning to determine hardware and software deficiencies and needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor's Degree in related area; and/or equivalent experience/training.

One year of networking experience

Two years of customer service experience

Two years of Active Directory experience

One year of software installation and troubleshooting experience

Experience in use and knowledge of networking protocols such as DHCP, TCP / IP, etc.

Experience at providing technical and administrative work direction. Experience developing staff and addressing staff performance issues in a way that focuses on development and improvement. Experience evaluating and managing performance.

Experience with supporting Microsoft products from an end-user and server perspective; Active Directory, File Servers/Printer, Permissions, GPO, etc..

Demonstrated skill and knowledge of how to provide excellent customer service in a large, complex computing / telecommunications environment. Demonstrated experience training others on how to provide excellent customer service. Demonstrated understanding of internal/external users.

Demonstrated knowledge of supervisory and leadership techniques in managing staff, including, but not limited to understanding Servant Leadership principles.

Demonstrated skill providing technical training to users at various levels of skill. Experience developing and administering formal technical training to users at a variety of levels.

General knowledge of ITIL Service Management Processes and how this can help in a large customer service, complex computing / telecommunications environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Three years of Customer Service Experience

Two years networking experience

Two years of Mac computer support exposure

ITIL Foundation certification and/or training

Lean Six Sigma yellow belt training or above

Leaving Washington behind, prominent far-right House Republicans who have repeatedly thrown this Congress into chaos showed up Thursday at Donald Trump’s hush money trial to do what they do best.

They stood outside Trump Tower filming their support for the indicted former president. They filed into the Manhattan courthouse “standing back and standing by,” as Rep. Matt Gaetz put it — invoking Trump’s call to the extremist Proud Boys . They were admonished to put down their cell phones.

And the House Republicans commandeered the spotlight — much like House Speaker Mike Johnson did earlier in the week — to rant against what they called the “kangaroo court” and the “political persecution” of Trump, as their day jobs waited for their return.

“President Trump is not going anywhere,” said Rep. Lauren Boebert , R-Colo., as hecklers interrupted.

“And we are not going anywhere either. We are here to stand with him.”

The split-screen scene between New York and D.C. provided one of the more vivid examples yet of how Republicans have tossed aside the de rigueur tasks of governing in favor of the engineered spectacle of grievance, performance and outrage that powers Trump-era American politics.

As much of Congress stalled out yet again, unable to legislate through the country’s challenges, the Republicans chose to spend the day going viral.

The excursion was all the more remarkable because it comes as House Republicans were focused Thursday on moving to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress — part of a broader campaign attack on President Joe Biden.

The House’s Oversight and Judiciary Committee Republicans are demanding the Justice Department turn over evidence in the classified documents case against Biden, including an audio interview that is potentially embarrassing to the president as he stumbles through some answers. The Judiciary panel soldiered on Thursday, while the Oversight committee punted its hearing to evening, once lawmakers return.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene , perhaps the most outspoken of Trump’s allies who joined him in New York when he was first charged in the case, lambasted her GOP colleagues for dashing to Manhattan when she said they should be back in Washington doing congressional business.

“I’m here doing my job,” Greene said on the eve of the trip.

Greene particularly criticized Johnson, the speaker she tried to oust , for “running up” to New York when she is pushing him toward her next big project, dismantling Special Counsel Jack Smith’s office and its federal indictments against Trump, including for trying to overturn the 2020 election in the run-up to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack.

It all unfolds as Congress is on record as being among the most unproductive in recent times, with few legislative accomplishments or bills passed into law.

Republicans swept to House majority control in 2023, but became quickly consumed by infighting as traditional conservatives were pushed aside by Trump’s national populist Make America Great Again movement. They ousted their own leader, then-Speaker Kevin McCarthy, derailed priority bills and left Johnson forced to rely on help from Democrats to stay in power, an unheard of scenario.

“The extreme MAGA Republicans have brought nothing but chaos, dysfunction and extremism to the Congress from the very beginning,” said Rep. Hakeem Jeffries of New York, the Democratic leader. “And they cannot point to a single thing that they’ve been able to do on their own to deliver real results, to solve problems for hardworking American taxpayers.”

“Get a job,” the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee posted on social media.

Outside the courthouse, the dozen or so Republican lawmakers didn’t dress the same, as others did with matching dark suits and Trump-styled red ties earlier in the week, but still formed a unified front for Trump.

“We’re watching the persecution of a patriot,” said Rep. Diana Harshbarger, R-Tenn. “What a price to be a patriot President Trump has paid.”

Gaetz called it the “Mr. Potato Head doll of crimes” where the prosecutors had to “stick together a bunch of things” to make a case.

While some like Gaetz are among Trump’s biggest backers in Congress, others are working quickly to burnish their credentials with the MAGA movement that now defines the Republican Party for their own political survival.

The chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, Rep. Bob Good, R-Va., had been late to endorse Trump, and now faces a difficult primary next month. His Trump-aligned challenger, Republican John McGuire, was able to ride with Good and the other lawmakers in Trump’s motorcade to the courthouse.

“We’re here to have his back,” Good said of Trump. “We’re here to defend him and to tell the truth about this travesty of justice, this political persecution, this election interference, this rigging of elections.”

Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C., who had been a supporter of his home state presidential contender Nikki Haley, derided the “kangaroo court” prosecuting Trump.

Arizona Rep. Eli Crane said Democrats are prosecuting Trump because “they can’t beat him” at the ballot box in November.

Crane said he and other Republicans are fighting to “Make America Great Again,” which after the afternoon of heckling, drew a round of cheers.

By day’s end, they were back at the Capitol, several of them recounting their visit in a series of late-evening floor speeches, all caught on the cameras, before they finished up for the night, and closed out the House.

It's resulted in at least one senator missing a vote, the postponing of a congressional mark-up, and a bevy of Republican heavyweights turning themselves into attack dogs for the presumptive 2024 nominee — who remains barred from criticizing jurors and witnesses via a gag order.

And Trump has yet to receive a courtroom visit from his own wife , Melania.

Here are all of the Republicans who've flocked to the trial so far.

Sen. Rick Scott was the first elected Republican to show up. He ended up missing a vote.

On Thursday, May 9, Sen. Rick Scott of Florida became the first elected Republican to show up to the trial.

"What he is going through is just despicable," Scott told reporters outside the courtroom, arguing the trial was "clearly criminal" and was being run by "political thugs."

Scott's visit came in the middle of the week, while the Senate was taking votes on a bill to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration for the next five years.

The Florida senator, who's up for reelection in November, ended up missing a procedural vote on the bill later that day.

That prompted his Democratic opponent, former Rep. Debbie Mucarsel Powell, to slam him as " sucking up to a defendant found liable for sexual abuse" and putting his "own extreme agenda before the people he was elected to represent."

Sen. JD Vance was the first VP contender to show up.

The highest-ranking Republican to visit the trial has been House Speaker Mike Johnson, who traveled to Manhattan on the same day as Burgum and Ramaswamy.

The speaker delivered a series of remarks — including slamming the district attorney, the judge, and Michael Cohen — without taking questions afterwards.

"He is soon to be officially the nominee of one of the major parties in our country," Johnson said of Trump. "Running for president, and they have him tied up here in this ridiculous prosecution. That is not about justice, it's all about politics, and everybody can see that."

He concluded by insisting that he came to the trial "on my own" because he's "deeply concerned about this."
