Following the release of their critically-acclaimed new album  Formentera ,  Metric have announced a run of UK & EU shows in 2023, including a date at London’s Roundhouse on February 1st. 

“One of the high points of 2022 for us has been working on putting everything together for The Doomscroller Tour,” says frontwomen Emily Haines.  “We’re crafting a set list based on fan favourites including deep cuts from Live it Out  &  Old World  and it’s been wild to see how the new songs from  Formentera  flow with the classics from  Fantasies  &  Synthetica . I’m really happy with the venues we chose, they suit the lighting and sonics and the whole mood of the show we’re crafting. I want Metric fans to have the best concert experience possible and feel like they got to escape into another reality with us for the evening. Can’t wait to get this show on the road!”

Kicking off at The Academy in Dublin on January 28th 2023, the run of dates will be the band’s first shows in the UK and Europe since 2018. Support for the dates comes from Metric’s label mates Lo Moon.  Tickets go on-sale July 22nd at 10am BST  HERE .

Formentera is named for an idyllic island near Ibiza off the coast of Spain—a place which, for Metric, only existed in a “dream destinations” travel book sitting on the desk of their recording studio. “We had been living in our imaginations for a long time, because we couldn’t physically go anywhere else,” explains guitarist and co-producer Shaw. “When you listen to the album from beginning to end, you start with this immediate feeling of tension building, of being stuck in a loop, and then there’s this intense release that happens… you’re swept off your feet into the title track ‘Formentera’ and it’s like you escaped.”

They recently launched a mobile app, giving fans early access to limited edition vinyl, exclusive content, concert tickets and more, including 7” singles for “All Comes Crashing” and “Doomscroller” within the app for fans to purchase. You can download the app at ilovemetricapp.com .

Metric Announce 2023 UK & EU Tour

Critically acclaimed Toronto rock band Metric have announced a run of UK & EU shows in 2023 following the release of their new album Formentera.  The tour will be stopping in Dublin, Glasgow, and Manchester, with the UK leg of the tour ending at London’s famed Roundhouse on February 1 st . The tour kicks off at The Academy in Dublin on January 28 th 2023, the concerts are the band’s first shows in the UK and Europe since 2018, and they will be joined by their label cohorts Lo Moon. Tickets go on-sale July 22nd at 10am BST.

Formentera came out on July 8 th  2022 receiving four stars from NME  , and The Telegraph saying , “ Formentera is a gratifying record stuffed with perfectly crafted songs by a band completely at ease in their own skin.”

Metric have announced tour dates in the UK and Ireland next year, in support of recently released new album ‘Formentera’.

“One of the high points of 2022 for us has been working on putting everything together for ‘The Doomscroller Tour’”, says frontwoman Emily Haines. “We’re crafting a setlist based on fan favourites, including deep cuts from [2005 album] ‘Live it Out’ and [2003 debut] ‘Old World [Underground]’, and it’s been wild to see how the new songs from ‘Formentera’ flow with the classics from [2009’] Fantasies’ and [2012’s] ‘Synthetica’”.

“I’m really happy with the venues we chose”, she goes on. “They suit the lighting and sonics and the whole mood of the show we’re crafting. I want Metric fans to have the best concert experience possible and feel like they got to escape into another reality with us for the evening. Can’t wait to get this show on the road!”

It's an exciting day for fans of indie rock icons Metric, as the band have revealed a 39-city tour of North America, a new album, a new single AND a new music video .

Formentera , Metric's 8th studio album, is set for release July 8th. The first single, "All Comes Crashing" was released with an accompanying music video today, (April 28). Front woman Emily Haines said,

"Not everyone has a conventional life with conventional relationships. 'All Comes Crashing'” is a love song that goes beyond romantic love, it’s an expression of solidarity with whoever it is you would want to have beside you in the event of catastrophe. It might be your best friend, it might be your blood brother or your dog. The song is dedicated to those you consider your family, whatever that looks like for you.”

What will the setlist look like for this tour? Haines commented, “We’re crafting a set list based on fan favorites including deep cuts from Live It Out and Old World , and it’s been wild to see how the new songs from Formentera flow with the classics from Fantasies and Synthetica ."

The Doomscroller Tour will kick off with two nights at The Royal Theatre in Victoria, British Columbia beginning August 11. The tour concludes with a two night performance at Brooklyn Steel in New York. Full list of dates below:

Where will Taylor Swift stay during the UK leg of her Eras Tour?

Taylor Swift has been blazing a trail through mainland Europe after kicking off the second leg of her Eras Tour with three sell-out shows in Paris at the start of May. Since then, she has pulled in huge crowds in Stockholm and Lisbon and will bring the month to a close in front of 90,000 fans in Madrid. It will be the second concert to be held at newly-renovated Santiago Bernabéu - a couple of weeks before Taylor hits the stage in Chamartín, Alejandro Sanz topped the bill at the Telefónica 100 Live concert along with Hombres G and Ana Mena.

After entertaining the masses over two nights in the Spanish capital, Swift will head to Lyon , France for two shows at Groupama stadium then have a few days off before she hits the British Isles. The singer will visit five cities - four in the UK and one in Ireland. She will perform three shows in Edinburgh on Friday, June 7, Saturday, June 8, and Sunday, June 9 then head to Liverpool to showcase her back catalogue as well as tracks from her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department at Anfield. All three shows sold out months ago.

Liverpool converted into ‘Taylor town’ for three days

Liverpool’s City Council has organized a range of events and installations to make the experience a memorable one for the tens of thousands of Swifties who will be descending on the city, including exhibitions, hands-on workshops and seminars at various locations including the Liverpool One and Metquarter shopping complexes and the Albert Dock. Fans who are visiting the city for the first time can head to the Liverpool Loves Taylor information stand at Lime Street Station which will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. between 13-15 June.

From the north west, Taylor will nip over to Wales for one date at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on 18 June. Then fly across to the capital, London for the first of two runs of shows, with extra dates having been added in August due to the huge demand for tickets. Fans heading to London to see Taylor Swift are reminded that Wembley is a cashless venue, so they will need to bring a credit card along to buy merchandise or refreshments.

After the first three of eight dates at Wembley, Taylor will jet out to Dublin for three dates at Aviva stadium with the first shows selling out in minutes, which prompted promoters to add an extra date. There is a huge waiting list for standard tickets for the Ireland shows with just VIP packages remaining - costing from €371 to €743.

Where will Taylor Swift be staying during her time in the UK?

Taylor Swift is believed to have booked a luxury £3.3 million cottage in the rolling hills of the Cotswolds , in south west England where she will stay for most of her trip to the UK. Her boyfriend Travis Kelce is expected to join her for at least part of the tour. So the singer will get time to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside between gigs. Being at one with nature and away from the hustle and bustle of city life is Taylor’s “happy place”, according to one source. “Taylor loves dressing up in sequins on stage but is most at home in muddy boots in the fresh air”.

She will certainly be at home in the Cotswolds, which was officially designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in 1966, and is home to former UK prime minister David Cameron , model Kate Moss , former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson , Blur bassman Alex James and a member of the royal family: Princess Anne , along with her daughter Zara Phillips and husband Mike Tindall.

Swift’s 15 shows during her whistlestop tour of the British Isles will bring in an estimated £1 billion to the economy . Taylor will leave the UK on 1 July for dates in Amsterdam, Zurich , Milan, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Munich, Warsaw and Vienna before returning to London for a second run of shows at Wembley on 15, 16, 17, 19 and 20 August.

Metrik, one of my favorite DnB artists! I heard he was comming in Timisoara, but i didn't knew where was the place, how much the tickets costs etc... found out the day after the party. Anyway Metrik did a good job and made everybody trip the hell out, in the first 3 lines. He was amazing! Also i liked the DJs before and after him, Boogieman and noname guy! Metrik puts jungle, liquid, tripy dnb music and if you're a fan of DnB, you must have heard of him! I wish you good luck and see you more often in Romania! Good luck Metrik! Big up!

Amyl & The Sniffers announce 2024 UK and European tour

The tour announcement comes after the band's release of their first new music in three years

Amyl & The Sniffers have announced a 2024 UK and European tour, set to kick off later this year.

The Australian punks will be kicking off the tour on November 5 at the National Stadium in Dublin. From there, they will be making stops in Glasgow, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and London.

Amy Taylor and co. will then make their way to Brussels, Cologne, Copenhagen, Berlin, Munich, Lausanne, and more before wrapping up the tour on November 29 at Floyd in Athens.

A ticket pre-sale will be available on May 29 at 10am local time for fans who sign up for the bands official mailing list here . Elsewhere, the band released their latest single ‘U Should Not Be Doing That’ , along with a B-side called ‘Fact’s’. The new songs marked their first new music in three years, since they dropped their second album ‘ Comfort To Me ‘ in 2021.

NME  last spoke to Amyl & The Sniffers back in 2021,  where Taylor spoke about how ‘Comfort To Me’ addressed the political environment Australians were facing in the summer of 2019.

“‘Capital’ is about how many people are left on the outskirts of society without any help – especially none from fucking Scott Morrison, the absolute tosser,” Taylor told  NME . “We’re all getting taxed to buggery and getting nothing in return. In bushfire season he gave nobody a helping hand.

“I’m not that well educated about politics, but during bushfire season all of the  Indigenous people had advanced backburning set-ups  and the government just ignored that. Also,  Indigenous incarceration rates  are off the fucking Richter scale.”

In a four-star review of ‘Comfort To Me ‘, NME shared: “When the band rally against being pigeonholed on ‘Don’t Fence Me In’, it feels like they’ve finally escaped this fate – sure, they can still pull a decent pint of pub rock, but ‘Comfort To Me’ serves as proof that there’s far more to them than just that.”
