A visit to Singapore is a glimpse into the future. From its modern and almost surreal airport  to its eye-catching and ever-changing skyline, Singapore is continuously innovative.

Even though the tourist entry requirements for most nationalities are straightforward, Singapore is known for its commitment to the rules. Here's what you need to know about visas for Singapore, including what types of visas are available and the rules you’ll need to navigate for trouble-free travel.

What you need to know about visas in Singapore

The visa requirements for travel to Singapore depend on your nationality, how many days you'll spend in the country and why you're visiting. Citizens of 164 different countries can enter Singapore as tourists for a period of 30 or 90 days without a visa.  

Passport holders from the European Union, Switzerland, Norway, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan and the United States get 90 days visa-free in Singapore, while citizens of some other countries can stay a maximum of 30 days without applying for a visa.

Travelers from countries that aren't on the visa waiver list  have to apply for either an e-visa or a regular tourist visa, depending on their nationality. While e-visa applications can be easily done at any online e-visa provider and have a processing time of just one day, regular visas are a bit more involved, requiring travelers to get in contact with their nearest Singaporean diplomatic mission or apply for a visa through an agent.

Singapore's Frequent Traveller Programme

The Frequent Traveller Programme allows visitors from Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States to use the automated clearance facilities at immigration, a process that significantly simplifies entering Singapore and helps frequent travelers avoid long wait times at peak hours.

What else do you need when visiting Singapore?

All tourists arriving in Singapore must have a valid passport (with a minimum validity of six months at the time of departure), sufficient funds for their stay in Singapore and an SG Arrival Card.

Unlike most other Southeast Asian countries, Singapore does not have a paper-based Disembarkation Card to be filled out on arrival in the country. Instead, all travelers (including those enrolled in the Frequent Traveller Programme) are required to submit an SG Arrival Card online, which asks for basic personal information, trip details and a health declaration. Obtain an SG Arrival Card on the MyICA phone app or the official ICA website .

All travelers, including residents, who arrive in Singapore from countries with a risk of yellow fever transmission must present a yellow fever vaccine certificate. Travelers who do not have a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate are liable to be quarantined at their own cost for up to six days.

Will I get a stamp in my passport?

Travelers passing through immigration at Changi Airport receive an electronic Visit Pass (e-Pass) via email rather than a passport stamp. The e-Pass contains details of the visit pass granted, including the maximum number of days and the last day you're allowed to stay in Singapore.

Entry requirements

This information is for people travelling on a full ‘British citizen’ passport from the UK. It is based on the UK government’s understanding of the current rules for the most common types of travel.

The authorities in Singapore set and enforce entry rules. If you’re not sure how these requirements apply to you, contact the Singapore High Commission in the UK .

COVID-19 rules

There are no COVID-19 testing or vaccination requirements for travellers entering Singapore. 

Passport validity requirements

To enter Singapore, your passport must have an ‘expiry date’ 6 months after the date you arrive.

Check with your travel provider that your passport and other travel documents meet requirements. Renew your passport if you need to.

You will be denied entry if you do not have a valid travel document or try to use a passport that has been reported lost or stolen.

If you are resident in Singapore, there is no minimum passport validity required. Apply for a renewal before your passport expires.

Dual nationality

Singapore does not recognise dual nationality beyond the age of 21. A citizen of Singapore is required by Singapore law to renounce any other nationalities before the age of 22 in order to retain their Singaporean citizenship.

Visa requirements

You can visit Singapore without a visa for tourism or business. The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority decides who can enter Singapore and how long they can stay. The period of stay permitted is at the discretion of the immigration officer. It is normally between 14 and 30 days for British citizens.

Penalties for overstaying

Penalties for overstaying the time allowed include fines, imprisonment, caning and deportation depending on how long you have overstayed. When you leave Singapore, officials can take your fingerprints if they suspect you are involved in any crime.

Checks at border control

You must complete an electronic SG Arrival Card in the 3 days before you arrive in Singapore. This online form asks for travel details and a health declaration. It is illegal to submit a false declaration. Biometric information is also recorded and scanned when you enter and depart Singapore (iris, face and fingerprints).

Screening for drugs

You can be screened for drugs in your system on arrival in Singapore, including if you’re in transit. You can be charged with drug consumption even if the drugs were taken in another country, including countries where the use of that particular drug is legal.

You could be detained without trial and, if convicted, you could be imprisoned, caned or executed .

Ship’s crew

There are different entry requirements if you are crew working on ships, small vessels, or pleasure crafts arriving at one of Singapore’s ports or marinas.

Vaccine requirements

To enter Singapore, you must have a certificate to prove you’ve had a yellow fever vaccination if you’re coming from a country listed as a transmission risk . If you arrive from one of these countries without a certificate, the authorities may put you in mandatory quarantine or refuse you entry to Singapore.

There are strict laws that prevent accommodation being used for short-term rental, including for tourists.

Customs rules

There are strict rules about goods you can take into or out of Singapore. You must declare anything that may be prohibited or subject to tax or duty.

It’s illegal to import controlled drugs . If convicted, you could be imprisoned, caned or executed .

The following items are also illegal to bring into Singapore:

• vaporisers and e-cigarettes
• tobacco products that are chewed or injected
• chewing gum to sell
• weapons and ammunition (including empty cartridge cases and air guns)
• replica guns, including lighters shaped like a pistol or revolver
• radio communications equipment

How Long Does It Take To Process A Singaporean Short Stay Visa?

The processing time for a Singaporean short-stay visa for tourism can vary depending on several factors, including your nationality , the type of visa you are applying for, and the method of application (online or in-person). Here are some general guidelines regarding processing times:

E-Visa (Online Application)

If you are eligible to apply for a tourist visa online through the Electronic Visa (e-Visa) system, the processing time is typically relatively quick. In many cases, e-Visa applications are processed within a few working days, often within 3 to 5 business days.

However, processing times may vary based on the volume of applications and other factors.

If you are eligible for a visa-on-arrival (VFA) and choose to obtain your visa upon arrival at Singapore’s Changi Airport or land checkpoints, the processing is immediate. You will receive your visa at the point of entry .

Visa Application At The Embassy/Consulate

If you apply for a tourist/visitor visa in person at a Singaporean embassy or consulate in your home country, processing times can vary widely based on the embassy’s workload and other factors.

In some cases, processing may take anywhere from a few days to several weeks .

Additional Processing Time Factors

Singapore Visa for Tourists in 2024: A Comprehensive Guide

Singapore’s visa policy is simple and the country is very open to visitors. Most nationalities can enter visa-free and enjoy stays of either 30 or 90 days. The rest can obtain an e-Visa although a local Singaporean contact or a visa agent is a requirement.

Owing to digitalization, entering and leaving Singapore is seamless through one of the automated lanes. If you’re eligible, you won’t even have to speak to an immigration officer!

To save you time and summarize all the information, this guide will cover everything about Singapore visa policy, visa requirements and eligibility.

Passport holders of 163 countries and territories can travel visa-free to Singapore for 30 or 90 days.

Those who aren’t visa-exempt must obtain a tourist visa. There are two ways to do that. The first is an e-Visa through a Singaporean contact. The second is through an authorized visa agent or a Singaporean embassy.

Lastly, certain nationalities can take advantage of the Visa Free Transit Facility (VFTF) if in transit in Singapore to or from a third country. This option allows stays for up to 96 hours (4 days).

Singapore does not offer Visa on Arrival.

Entry Requirements

These entry requirements apply to all foreign citizens entering Singapore:

• At least 6 months of passport validity
• Valid visa unless visa exempt or using the Visa-Free Transit Facility (VFTF)
• Completed SG Arrival Card
• Return or onward ticket
• Proof of sufficient cash for your stay

Immigration officers very rarely ask for the last two. If you use the automated gates, you will not be asked for any proof.

It is also a good idea to check the list of Prohibited and Controlled Goods as Singaporean Customs can be a lot more curious.

The following countries are visa-exempt for Singapore. The length of allowed stay is either 30 or 90 days depending on your nationality.

Visa exemption is available at all border crossings via air, land, and sea.

Singapore Tourist Visa (e-Visa)

The nationalities that require a Singapore tourist visa are split into two levels. 

The main difference is that Level II countries must also submit a Letter of Introduction for Visa Application (LOI).

Assessment Level I Countries

• North Korea
• Turkmenistan

Assessment Level II Countries

• Afghanistan
• South Sudan

Visa Requirements

Even though it’s an e-Visa, as an applicant, you cannot apply for the e-Visa on your own. The e-Visa application must be submitted by a local Singaporean contact or applied through an authorized visa agent approved by ICA such as VFS Global. 

The Singaporean contact must be at least 21 years old, a legal citizen or resident of Singapore, and have access to SingPass , the Singapore Identity Verification app.

Both Level I and Level II are required to submit:

• Completed and signed Form 14A
• A passport-sized color photograph taken within the last 3 months. These are the photo requirements .
• A photocopy of your passport biodata page

Level II countries are additionally required to obtain:

• Completed Form V39A which is a Letter of Introduction for Visa Application (LOI), issued by a local contact in Singapore.

Finding a local contact for LOI may prove troublesome for some travelers. A LOI issued by your Embassy can also be accepted if you are unable to secure an LOI from an individual.

The application costs 30 SGD (~22$).

If your application is successful, your Singaporean contact or the visa agent can send you the e-Visa file. You must print it and present it on arrival to enter the country.

Applications are processed within 3 working days (excluding the day of submission).

Singapore Visa-Free Transit Facility (VFTF)

The Visa-Free Transit Facility (VFTF) allows entry into Singapore for up to 96 hours under certain conditions.

Eligible Countries

The following countries are eligible for VFTF:

Requirements

India passport holders.

Nationals of India are eligible for VFTF if they meet the following requirements:

• Enter Singapore by any mode of transport but leave only via air or sea to a third country. You may be asked to show an onward ticket departing Singapore within 96 hours. Flight, ferry, and cruise tickets are allowed.
• United States of America
• You travel directly from the country that issued the visa, through Singapore, back to your home country
• You have not been to your home country since you last used the visa

Schengen visas allow entry to both Germany and Switzerland, so they are accepted even if issued by another country.

All other countries

For the other countries on the VFTF list, these requirements are in place:

• Enter Singapore by any mode of transport but leave only via air to a third country. You may be asked to show an onward ticket departing Singapore within 96 hours. Only flight tickets are acceptable.

Visa-Free Transit

Visa-free transit does NOT allow you to enter Singapore!

You are considered a transiting traveler if you travel via Singapore without clearing immigration. All nationalities are eligible.

As a transiting passenger, you are allowed to stay within the transit area of Singapore Changi Airport.

Most layovers don’t require you to clear immigration. However, be careful with low-cost carriers and tickets booked separately. If that’s your case, you likely have to pass through immigration and customs and recheck your luggage. In that case, you must have a visa or be visa-exempt.

SG Arrival Card

The SG Arrival Card is mandatory for all visitors to Singapore regardless of nationality.

You can complete the SG Arrival Card online up to 3 days before arrival. There’s no minimum required time before arrival so you can complete it at the airport too.

The SG Arrival Card is automatically linked to your passport information. If you don’t complete it properly, automated lanes will reject you and you must see a border officer to amend it.

Automated Clearance

Singapore has made strides towards complete automation of its borders. It is expected that soon all arrivals will be processed through automated lanes. For now, these are the eligible countries:

The procedure is quick and straightforward. If this is your first time in Singapore, the machine will also collect your fingerprints, an iris scan, and a face picture.

You will NOT receive a stamp on your passport. After entry, you will receive an e-Pass to the email you have provided in the SG Arrival Card with the last day of stay allowed in Singapore.

Exit is also automated and passports are not stamped either.

Electronic Visit Pass (e-Pass)

Singapore has phased out issuing physical entry stamps in the passport. An Electonic Visit Pass or e-Pass is issued and sent to your email after clearing the immigration in Singapore. You can also retrieve a copy for your e-Pass on the ICA website

The e-Pass will have the details such as your date of entry into Singapore, maximum days of allowed stay and your last day of stay granted.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Does singapore require a covid test or vaccination certificate.

All Covid-related restrictions were dropped on 13 February 2023. There are no requirements regarding testing or vaccination. That said, while submitting an SG Arrival Card, you will fill out the health declaration whether or not you are experiencing any symptoms.

Can I get an SG Arrival Card at the airport?

Yes, you can. The paper-based arrival cards are phased out, so you will have to fill out an online SG Arrival Card. You can fill it out at the airport too, takes about 5-10 minutes.

What documents are required to enter Singapore?

• Passport valid for at least 6 more months
• Valid visa unless visa-exempt
• Onward ticket (very rarely, especially if using an automated lane).

Can I transit at Singapore Changi Airport without a visa?

Yes, you can, regardless of nationality, as long as you don’t leave the transit area.

You may enter and exit as you please if you’re visa-exempt. 

Alternatively, you may be eligible for a visa-free transit facility allowing stays inside Singapore for up to 96 hours.

Entry, Exit and Visa Requirements

To enter Singapore, you need a passport that is valid for at least six months beyond the date of your intended stay. If you plan on regional travel beyond Singapore, make sure that your passport is valid for at least six months beyond the date you plan to enter other countries in the region. You do not need a visa for tourist or business visits up to 90 days.

The U.S. Department of State is unaware of any HIV/AIDS entry restrictions for visitors to Singapore. Foreign workers applying for an employment pass are required to undergo a medical screening for HIV/AIDS and a positive test will result in the rejection of a foreign worker’s application.

If you violate local laws, even unknowingly, you may be expelled, arrested, or imprisoned.  Individuals establishing a business or practicing a profession that requires additional permits or licensing should seek information from the competent local authorities, prior to practicing or operating a business.  

In Singapore, you may be taken in for questioning if you don’t have your passport with you. Travelers should be aware of the following penalties for certain crimes in Singapore:

·         Possible arrest for jaywalking, littering, or spitting

·         Mandatory caning (a form of physical punishment) for certain vandalism offenses

·         Possible imprisonment, caning, or fines for immigration violations

·         Possible imprisonment, caning or fines for sex crimes or sexually inappropriate behavior. Lewd, unwanted behavior, including inappropriate comments, messages, or photography toward women who find it offensive may result in fines and imprisonment (“Insulting the modesty of woman”). If there is unwanted physical contact of any kind involved (“Outrage of modesty,” molestation), the laws are gender neutral and punishments generally more severe.

·         Severe penalties for drug-related charges, including the death penalty or caning.

·         Strict penalties for those who illegally possess or carry firearms, or who commit crimes with firearms

If you are suspected of consuming or possessing illegal drugs , police may:

·         Conduct unannounced drug tests and property searches, including upon entry into Singapore

·         Require you to provide a urine or blood sample on short notice

A positive finding or an unwillingness to participate can lead to:

·         Denial of entry into Singapore

·         Detention

·         Confiscation of your passport while under investigation

Singaporean authorities may arrest and convict any permanent residents of Singapore even if they have consumed illegal drugs outside of Singapore.

Singapore does not recognize dual nationality beyond the age of 22, and it strictly enforces universal national service for all male citizens and permanent residents. To determine if you have a national service obligation, contact the  Ministry of Defense.

Drunk and disorderly conduct can lead to a SG$1,000 fine or imprisonment. It is illegal to drink alcohol in a public place between 10:30 pm and 7:00 am. The areas of Geylang and Little India are designated as “Liquor Control Zones” where drinking in public places is prohibited all weekend, on public holidays, and on the eve of public holidays.

Public Demonstrations:  Public demonstrations are legal only at Speakers’ Corner in Hong Lim Park. Most outdoor public assemblies require a police permit. Singapore forbids foreign nationals who do not have permanent resident status from participating in or observing permitted public demonstrations, assemblies, and processions at Speakers’ Corner. Penalties may be severe, including large fines and/or imprisonment.

Faith-Based Travelers:  The Singapore Convention of Jehovah’s Witness and the Unification Church are banned by the Singapore government. All written materials published by the International Bible Students Association and the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, publishing arms of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, remain banned. LGBTI Travelers:  Singapore does not recognize same-sex unions. The Singaporean government has stated that it will not enforce this section of the Penal Code but it remains on the statute books. The government restricts foreigners from involvement in public events that champion LGBTI issues. LGBTI individuals may have difficulty gaining employment in certain sectors of the civil service. The  Ministry of Manpower  does not issue dependent passes (work permits) to partners in lesbian and gay relationships, even if legally married in another country.

Travelers with Disabilities: The law in Singapore does not explicitly prohibit discrimination against persons with disabilities. Social acceptance of persons with disabilities in public is as prevalent as in the United States. The most common types of accessibility include accessible facilities, information, and access to services. Expect accessibility to be common in public transportation, lodging, communication/information, and general infrastructure.

Good medical care is widely available in Singapore. Doctors and hospitals:

• expect immediate, up-front payment for health services by credit card or cash
• generally do not accept U.S. health insurance
• may require a substantial deposit before admitting you for any major medical treatment.

In certain circumstances, the Ministry of Health may access patient medical records without the consent of the patient, and in certain circumstances physicians may be required to report information relating to the diagnosis or treatment without the patient's consent.

Employment pass holders are subject to medical exams and may be denied or deported on medical grounds, including for HIV infection.

Ambulance services are widely available. We do not pay medical bills. Be aware that U.S. Medicare does not apply overseas. Most hospitals and doctors overseas do not accept U.S. health insurance.

Medical Insurance:  Make sure your health insurance plan provides coverage overseas. Most care providers overseas only accept cash payments. See our webpage for more information on insurance coverage.

Visit the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for more information on type of insurance you should consider before you travel overseas. We strongly recommend supplemental insurance to cover medical evacuation.

Always carry your prescription medication in original packaging, along with your doctor’s prescription. Check with Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority to ensure the medication is legal in Singapore.

Vaccinations:  Be up-to-date on all  vaccinations  recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Medical Tourism and Elective Surgery:

• Visit the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website for information on Medical Tourism, the risks of medical tourism, and what you can do to prepare before traveling to Singapore.
• We strongly recommend supplemental insurance  to cover medical evacuation in the event of unforeseen medical complications.

Pharmaceuticals:

• Exercise caution when purchasing medication overseas. Pharmaceuticals, both over the counter and requiring prescription in the United States, are often readily available for purchase with little controls. Counterfeit medication is common and may prove to be ineffective, the wrong strength, or contain dangerous ingredients. Medication should be purchased in consultation with a medical professional and from reputable establishments.
• U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Food and Drug Administration are responsible for rules governing the transport of medication back to the United States. Medication purchased abroad must meet their requirements to be legally brought back into the United States. Medication should be for personal use and must be approved for usage in the United States. Assisted Reproductive Technology and Surrogacy:

The following diseases are prevalent:

• Chikungunya

Use the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended mosquito repellents and sleep under insecticide-impregnated mosquito nets. Chemoprophylaxis is recommended for all travelers even for short stays.

Mosquito-borne diseases: Dengue is active in Singapore and can be monitored at the  Singapore National Environmental Agency . In addition, most neighboring countries are Zika endemic.

Haze: Air pollution from forest fires in neighboring countries occurs intermittently, usually between July and October. Singapore’s National Environmental Agency’s  Haze  provides public updates on conditions.

Travel and Transportation

Road Conditions and Safety:  Singapore has a highly developed, well-maintained road and highway network. Be aware of motorcyclists, who often ignore lane markings.

The  Automobile Association (AA) of Singapore  provides roadside assistance, and the  Land Transport Authority  has rescue vehicles on the road at all hours. In addition, closed circuit cameras monitor all major roads.

Traffic Laws:  Driving is done on the left-hand side of the road. Laws involving traffic rules, vehicle registration, and liability in case of accident are strictly enforced and violations may result in criminal penalties.

Public Transportation:  Public transportation and taxis are abundant, inexpensive, and reliable. Bus stops and trains have panels indicating all routes and stops.

Singapore Tourist visa

Singapore is an island city-state on the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula in Southeast Asia. Singapore’s green sanctuaries and vibrant cities bustle with state-of-the-art architecture, luxurious resorts, history-rich neighborhoods, lush parks and gardens, beautiful waterfalls, and exciting world-class sites and events. For entry into Singapore, some foreign nationals can enter visa-free, while others are required to obtain a visa. You are advised to apply for a Singapore visa within 30 days prior to your trip to Singapore. Please note that a visa does not guarantee entry into Singapore, as the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) makes final entrance determinations.

Required Documents for Singapore Tourist Visa

The following are the required documents for online application through your local contact or authorized visa agent or strategic partner:.

For applicant:

• A completed visa application Form 14A
• One (1) photocopy of applicant’s biodata passport page, valid for at least 6 months from entry date into Singapore
• color photo on white background
• taken within last 3 months
• on non-reflective, matte or semi-matte finish paper
• meets ICA requirements

These are the required documents for your application through the Singapore embassy, consulate or VAC:

Singapore Tourist Visa Application Steps

Once the required documents have been gathered, make a copy for yourself and apply for your Singapore Visa through the following steps:

Application through Singapore embassy, consulate, or VAC abroad

Complete Singapore Visa application form online, or make a print out of the form and fill it out by hand then sign it. You will have to fill in data regarding your personal information and details about your stay in Singapore.

Submit your Singapore visa application at the nearest Singapore embassy, consulate, or authorized Visa Application Center (VAC).

The processing fees will be collected at the time of submission for each application.

Receive your approved Singapore visa to your email or third-party service provider.

Online Application

If you have a local contact, who is a Singapore citizen or permanent resident, with a “SingPass” account, your local contact can apply online for a Singapore visa on your behalf, via the SAVE system at the Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) website. Your local contact can print a copy of your approved e-Visa through the online SAVE system.

Singapore Tourist Visa Fees

The Singapore visa processing fee is $30 and is non-refundable. For e-Service visas, you can make payment online with a major credit/debit card (MasterCard or Visa).

Where to apply for Singapore Visas

Within Singapore: A Singapore national, permanent resident, or authorized strategic partner can apply online on your behalf, via the SAVE system.

Outside Singapore: You can apply for a Singapore entry visa at your nearest Singapore embassy, consulate, or visa authorization center (VAC).

When to apply for Singapore Visas

It is advisable to apply for a Singapore Visa within 30 days of your planned trip to Singapore, as times may vary depending on the individual application. For this reason, we advise you to apply well in advance of your planned trip.

Singapore Tourist Visa Processing Time

Your Singapore visa will be processed within 3 business days, after the day of your application.

For Approved Singapore visa applications

Once the Singapore Visa has been approved, you can legally enter Singapore and stay for the maximum number of days permitted within the visa’s validity period.

For Denied Singapore visa applications

If your Singapore visa application has been rejected, you can appeal within one month of the rejection date to [email protected] .

To process your appeal, the following documents must be submitted:

• Passport copy
• In the case of application through a local contact, a signed letter by local contact requesting ICA to reconsider applicant's visa and reason for reconsideration
• Any supporting documents
• NRIC (National Registration Identity Card) date of issue of the local contact
• Note: Appeal processing times are approximately 14 business days. Times may vary, as each appeal is reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Local contacts can track the visa appeal status online.

Singapore Entry Requirements

A Singapore Entry Visa is your pre-permission pass to request entry into Singapore. Once you are approved for a Singapore Visa to travel to Singapore, you must then obtain the permission to enter Singapore. Before ICA can consider you for entry into Singapore, you must meet the following basic requirements:

• A Singapore Entry Visa
• A submitted SG Arrival Card: All travelers are required to submit their health declaration information to ICA, within three days before their arrival in Singapore. You can apply via the SG Arrival Card e-Service or through a “SG Arrival Card” mobile application. Please note that the SG Arrival Card is not a visa or pass to enter Singapore.
• Sufficient funds for your stay
• Confirmed onward airline ticket (if applicable)
• A yellow fever vaccination certificate, if coming from a country with risk of yellow fever transmission (listed here ).
• Proof that you can enter your next destination (visa)

To be permitted entry into Singapore, you must obtain a Singapore Visit Pass. As of 10 October 2021, all foreign nationals arriving to Singapore by air will be emailed a digital Visit Pass (e-Pass), which substitutes a passport entry stamp. Your digital e-Passes will state the maximum duration period you are allowed to stay in Singapore. Please note that the duration stay period of your entry pass is different than the validity period of your entry visa. Some countries may be eligible for Visa-Free Transit Facilities (VFTF), a visa-free 96-hour transit in Singapore. Eligible countries include Georgia, India, China, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Following is the list of documents required for Singapore Tourist visa for Indians.

A passport is a document that is required at the time of international travels. It is issued by the government of the country to verify the identity and nationality of the candidate.

The submitted passport must meet the parameters given below

• It must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the period of stay.
• It must be original and genuine.
• It should have minimum two blank pages for the visa stamp.
• It must not be torn, ripped, split, or damaged in any kind of way.

One cannot cross international boundries without the passport. It is considered a criminal offense otherwise.

The photo is provided to the authority so that you can be identified based on the same.

The photographs must be provided as per the given photo specifications

• Two copies must be submitted.
• It must be of proper size with dimensions of 35x45 mm (length - 45mm, breadth - 35mm).
• It must be clicked on a plain white background.
• It must be able to cover face in 80% of the frame.
• It must be a recent photograph.
• The expressions on the face must be neutral, there must not be any kind of smiling of frowning in the photograph.
• Any kind of glasses must not be worn in the photograph.
• The hair must be tied back so that the face is clearly visible.
• The ears must be visible clearly.
• It must not have any headgear worn apart from religious reasons.
• It is to be taken care that your teeth do not show in the photograph.

Recent pictures are mandatory as old pictures can cause the authorities to reject your application.

An air ticket is a ticket or pass that is possessed by the traveller who is taking a flight for travelling from one location to another.

It is an important document and it should be submitted for the given reason

• It must be confirmed for the complete round trip.

An air ticket shows your course of travel and confirms your return to the native country.

Covering Letter consists of traveler's information, Itenarary, detailed travel Information, trip expense details and your return guarantee to the home country.

The covering letter provided by the visa applicant should be acceptable based on the following guidelines

• letter should mention details of travel, purpose of travel, who will bear expenses, applicant contact no and Email ID. (if Self-Employed required on company letterhead).
• It must mention other details as well as per the Consular's request.
• It must mention the accommodation details of the applicant.
• It must mention the person who will be bearing all the expenses during the trip, if not travelling alone.
• It must specify the traveller's relationship with the fellow travellers if not travelling alone.
• It must clearly specify the traveller's purpose of visit.
• It must mention the travel dates as per the invitation letter or the booked flight tickets.
• It must mention all the details as per the passport.

Covering letter is the first document that is seen by the consular. If the covering letter is not appropriate, it may cause your visa to get rejected as well. Professional visa consultation is recommended.

Bank statement is a document that issued from the bank. This is obtained for the savings bank account to show ratify if you will be able to support your stay in the country.

The Bank statement is a mandatory document and it should meet the following criteria

• It must be original and should have the bank's stamp and signature on every page.

If the Bank Statement doesn't show enough funds or shows irrelevant expenditure, it could lead to visa rejection on financial means. Professional visa consultation is recommended.

Salary slips are the documents issued by the company to the employer that contain the information about the employees finances which include leave details, travel and house rent allowances, etc.

The Salary slip is a crucial document. It must be provided by following the criteria given below

• It must mention the company's name and the applicant's designation as well.

The Leave Sanction letter provided should meet the following requirements

• It must be signed by the authority with their designation and the name and stamp of th company.
• It must mention the applicant's name as per the passport along with the designation and their duration of stay.
• It must be on the company's letterhead addressed to "to whomever it may concern.".

Eligibility for getting Singapore Tourist Visa:

In order to be eligible to travel to the country on a visa, you will have to meet the following eligibility criteria.

Be a genuine traveller- You must have a valid and good intention behind travelling to the country.

Fly, Cruise, or Drive to Singapore

• From 7 Oct 2021, border measures for incoming travellers will be determined based on the travellers’ recent travel history in the last 14 days, instead of 21 days.
• The Stay-Home Notice (SHN) for those who are currently serving 14 days will be reduced to 10 days, due to the shorter incubation period of the Delta variant.
• Adjustments have been made to the classification of countries/region and their corresponding border measures.

Reviewing the length of the Stay-Home Notice duration from 14 to 10 days

Since June 2021, the Multi-Ministry Taskforce on COVID-19 had required travellers with recent travel history to Category III and IV countries/regions to serve a 14-day SHN to account for the maximum COVID-19 incubation period.

As the Delta variant has a shorter incubation period, the Taskforce will reduce the SHN period for travellers from 14 to 10 days.

1) From 7 October 2021, all travellers with travel history to Category III and IV countries/regions in the last 14 days immediately prior to arrival in Singapore (including being in Singapore prior to travel), will serve 10 days of SHN at dedicated SHN facilities

• To undergo a COVID-19 PCR test on-arrival and on Day 10, and self-administered ART tests on Days 3 and 7

• SHN will be ended as long as they have a negative result for their PCR test on Day 10

2) Travellers who stayed in Category III countries/regions in the 14 days immediately prior to arrival in Singapore (including being in Singapore prior to travel) and are fully vaccinated:

• May apply to serve their SHN at their place of residence (e.g. residential address) or at other suitable accommodation (e.g. hotels or serviced apartments), if they are occupying these accommodation:

o alone; or

o only with household members who are also vaccinated persons serving SHN with the same travel history and duration of SHN

• Unvaccinated travellers will still be required to undergo a 10-day SHN at dedicated facilities

3) Refund details will be worked out for travellers affected by these changes, and will be shared with them separately

Conditions for opting out of serving SHN in dedicated SHN facilities

Travellers who wish to opt out of serving SHN in dedicated facilities must receive approval and present the approval documents upon arrival in Singapore:

All travellers who successfully opt out must remain in their declared place of residence/accommodation at all times and must don an electronic monitoring device throughout their SHN period.

• Action will be taken against those who breach their SHN requirements or make false declarations
• Travellers must take private transport to their declared place of residence/accommodation, and are strictly prohibited from taking public transport, e.g. public bus/train or street-hailed taxis

Review of countries/regions categories

Based on the COVID-19 situation in various countries, here is the latest classification for each of the 4 categories, can be found on the  SafeTravel website . These changes will be effective from 7 October 2021.

Travellers are advised to visit the website to check the latest border measures for their associated country or region; and be prepared to be subjected to the prevailing border measures upon entry.

@  The charges for 7-day SHN at dedicated SHN facility is $1,000.

* 14-day travel history includes countries/regions whereby the traveller transits en route to Singapore, and also the time spent in Singapore by the traveller before embarking on the overseas travel (if any).

** All long-term pass holders and short-term visitors with travel or transit history to Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are still not allowed to enter Singapore, as per MOH’s press releases on 22 and 30 Apr 2021.

# Every traveller aged 3 and above (in the calendar year) who is serving SHN will have to pay $20 (inclusive of GST) for 2 ART kits. ART swabbing is required for travellers serving SHN at dedicated SHN facilities.

LTPHs with passes issued by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) may have to comply with additional requirements and measures.

Travellers who are not Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents or Long-Term Pass Holders, may enter Singapore for short-term visits only if they are arriving from Category I countries/regions (with travel histories in the past 14-days in these countries/regions and/or Singapore), unless if arrangements have been separately announced (e.g. Vaccinated Travel Lanes or Reciprocal Green Lanes).

Visitors from all around the world can enter Qatar either by obtaining visa on arrival, or by filling out simple online applications, depending on the passport they carry.

Visa-free entry

Nationals of eligible countries do not require any prior visa arrangements and can obtain a visa waiver upon arrival to Qatar, by presenting a valid passport with a minimum validity of three months and a confirmed onward or return ticket. 

For nationals of the countries/regions listed below, the waiver will be valid for 30 days from the date of issuance and entitle its holder to spend up to 30 days in Qatar.

Andorra, Australia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Falkland Islands, French Guiana, Georgia, Guyana, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Ireland, Japan, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Macao, Macedonia, Maldives, Mauritius, Mexico, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, New Zealand, Pakistan, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Russia, Rwanda, San Marino, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Suriname, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, Uzbekistan Vatican city and Venezuela.

For nationals of the countries/regions listed below, the waiver will be valid for 180 days from the date of issuance and entitle its holder to spend up to 90 days in Qatar during either a single trip or on multiple trips.

Qatar-Oman Joint Tourist Visa (Visa on Arrival)

This visa is issued upon arrival and is valid for 30 days for the State of Qatar and the Sultanate of Oman. It allows for multiple entry to both countries and is extendable for an additional 30 days for a fee. Citizens of the following countries are eligible for the joint visa:

Visa on arrival – mandated hotel requirement

The Ministry of Interior Qatar currently requires nationals of the countries / regions listed below to hold registration booked through   Discover Qatar website   prior to travelling to Qatar.

India, Iran, Pakistan, Thailand.

Tourist visas

The Qatar tourist visa is available to nationals of all countries, except GCC citizens, but citizens of over 101 countries are eligible for a free visa on arrival (see Visa-free entry above). Travellers of select nationalities will require to pay a fee to obtain a visa on arrival or apply for a tourist visa prior to travel. Visas can be applied for on the  Hayya platform for a cost of QAR 100.

Hayya card validity extended until 2024

Are you a Hayya Card holder living outside the State of Qatar? We’ve got news! 

The validity of the Hayya Card has been extended and will now allow Hayya Card holders to enter the State of Qatar until February, 2024.

Travel requirements: 

- Proof of a confirmed hotel reservation or accommodation with family or friends approved through the Hayya portal

- Passport valid for no less than three months upon arrival in the State of Qatar 

- Valid health insurance during the period of stay in the country. We recommend all travellers visiting the State of Qatar to have a valid health insurance policy covering Qatar's medical facilities. Those who don’t already have an insurance policy are welcome to purchase one on arrival in the State of Qatar. For more information on travel insurance, click  here .

- Return tickets

All Hayya card holders visiting Qatar will have access to the following:

- The 'Hayya with Me' feature' allowing Hayya Card holders to invite up to three family members or friends

- A multiple-entry permit 

- No fees will apply

Qatar Transit Visa

Qatar Airways passengers transiting in Hamad International Airport for a minimum of 5 hours are eligible to apply for the Qatar Transit Visa. It is free of charge, valid for up to 96 hours (four days) and open to passengers of all nationalities**.

Visa Exemptions

Nationals of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates) do not require a visa to enter Qatar.

Mandatory health insurance

We recommend all travellers visiting the State of Qatar to have a valid health insurance policy covering Qatar's medical facilities. All foreign visitors must ensure that they meet or possess the following entry requirements stated by the Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority  (ICA). New Zealand passport holders do not require a visa to enter Singapore for business or for social visit purposes.  They must, however, meet the entry requirements as mentioned above. Foreigners holding travel documents issued by the following countries will require a visa to enter Singapore:

• A Refugee travel document or an Alien's passport . This travel document is subject to assessment for entry into Singapore.

Please produce the following documents in support of your application.  Official translation of the documents is required if they are not in English. Additional supporting documents [e.g.  Form V39A  (Letter of Introduction for Visa Application)] may be required on a case-by-case basis. For more information, please refer to the  ICA website . 

1.    Original  P assport  (valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival in Singapore)

2.    One Original  Form 14A* (199.17KB) : duly completed in English and signed by the applicant. 

• If you are staying with a friend or relative in Singapore, please indicate his/her full address, contact number and email address in the visa application form.
• The address under "Country of Origin/Residence" (Page 2) , please list your address in your country of origin.
• For the section " Did you reside in other countries" (Page 3) , please list all addresses which you had resided for more than 1 year in past 5 years, apart from your country of origin , and the respective period of stay.

3.     Two Passport-sized coloured photograph : The photograph must meet the following requirements:

Taken against white background, without shadow and within the last 3 months

Taken full face with sufficient head room without headgear (unless the applicant habitually wears a headgear in accordance with his/her religious or racial custom but the headgear must not hide the applicant's features)

4.     A copy of your valid NZ visa.

5.     Travel Itinerary : Visa applicants are not required to buy a flight ticket or book a hotel accommodation before applying for an entry visa. Applicants who choose to do so will have to bear the risk of loss if the visa application outcome is unsuccessful or if the approved visa duration falls outside of the applicant's intended date of travel.  

6.     PRC Identity Card : Photocopy of PRC Identity Card (for PRC Nationals only).

7.     Visa processing fee : NZ$ 36.00 per applicant. The visa processing fee is non-refundable and subject to change without prior notice. The High Commission accepts only payment via Internet Banking.  (Internet Banking details will be provided to you when we receive your application)

8.    A  pre-paid self-addressed courier bag  for the return of the passport for applications done through post. Please arrange with NZ Post or a courier company for the safe delivery of documents.  The Singapore High Commission is not liable or does not bear any responsibilities for the loss of any travel documents (including original passports) sent by post or courier.

The normal processing time is about 3-5 working days  upon receipt  of the complete set of application form and documents. Please do not call the High Commission to check on the outcome within the normal processing period.

Should you wish to submit your application in person, kindly contact the Singapore High Commission at 04 470 0850 to schedule an appointment. Our appointment hours are Monday to Friday from 9am to 1pm.

You are advised to submit your visa application documents no earlier than one (1) month prior to your date of entry into Singapore.

Important Notes

• Incomplete forms and/or documents submitted may result in the application being rejected or the processing delayed.
• Every application for a visa, including the duration of the visa granted, will be considered on its own merits and subject to approval.
• Possession of a visa does not guarantee entry into Singapore. The granting of entry into Singapore is determined by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officers at the point of entry. Visitors must also meet entry requirements such as holding a valid passport, sufficient funds for the period of stay in Singapore and confirmed onward/return air ticket (if applicable).
• The period of stay in Singapore will be decided by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority Officer at the point of entry in Singapore. Applicants are advised to check their passports for the arrival endorsement and take note of the duration of stay given.
• Upon receipt of your visa, please review it immediately to check that the key details (e.g. name, date of birth, nationality, travel document number) and validity period are in order. Contact the Singapore High Commission at 04 470 0850 or [email protected] by the next working day should there be any discrepancies.

All holders of non-regular Travel Documents must consult the Singapore High Commission on visa requirements to enter Singapore.
