The recently formed, invitation-only Link Travel Group is continuing to expand. Founded by Flight Centre Travel Group, The Goldman Group and Spencer Group of Companies, they have now welcomed six well-known and highly respected agencies to join them since launching in May 2022.
“Link Travel Group represents the coming together of high-profile players within the travel industry to create a new way forward for travel companies around Australia”, Anthony Goldman, Joint MD of Goldman Group said. “While we will link agencies to deliver compelling financial rewards, that is only the beginning of the journey. The future is about access to world class technology, innovative business solutions and workflow improvement tools, which we will deliver. It’s also about working with recognised specialists in the industry to create better ways of doing business. Access to strong hotel and tour programs for the corporate and leisure markets, online booking tools for advisors and consumers, online travel advisory tools, advanced airline booking channels and relationship management programs are some of the instant benefits that are available to our members.”

Best industry experts, fast & effective solutions, excellent value for money, welcome to links travel group, about our company.
We have been in the travel and hospitality business since 1984. Links Travel, an outgoing travel agency was our first business so it is only fitting that the group today retains the original name.
Throughout the years we ventured into other new businesses mainly related to the travel and hospitality industry, with one exception being Main Gate Co. Ltd, a catering company that owned and operated, a popular sweet shop and cafeteria called C. Camilleri & Sons and wholesalers and distributors of various sweet products. This company has since been sold.

"Ericeira surf trip was an amazing trip, one of my best trips. I enjoyed everyday day, with a lot of fun, sport, lovely meetings, good (such good) food, parties, wonderful landscapes and sunsets, thanks to Filippo. Caring, responsible, open-minded, always present, a hell of a dancer, he gave us the joy of surfing and continuing. Thank you so much for this week Filippo!"
"The trip to Sweden with Kathi was great! She is a very friendly, helpful and empathetic person who made sure that everybody had a wonderful time and could enjoy the trip to the fullest. Besides the unforgettable Sled Dog Tour itself, Kathi made sure that everything was planned perfectly, from the accomodation to our stops on the way. I would definitely join another trip with her."
"My first time using JoinMyTrip, was a bit weary about how it might be but i wouldn't fault a single bit of it. Rita did a fantastic job of making the trip unforgettable. She had great adventures planned and if it wasn't for her there was a lot we wouldn't have seen. Definitely one for the memory books and hopefully there will be alot more. Thank you Rita!"

Why group travel is on the rise and more important than ever
Airbnb's CEO reveals the reason behind the 80 per cent rise in holiday rental bookings for groups
"It’s something I do every year and the best way to maintain friendships." Sat on a comfy armchair in a quiet neighbourhood of Los Angeles, Brian Chesky – the man who brought the world Airbnb – is feeling reflective.
"I make sure I go on an annual trip with my college friends because that’s the way I maintain the relationships with my past. One lives in North Carolina, another in LA, another in New Jersey and I’m in San Francisco so these trips are how we stay in touch and stay connected."
Brian, who started Airbnb in 2007 by renting out three inflatable mattresses to people attending a nearby conference, understands that keeping friendships alive is not always easy and requires work. "Because you have no new experiences together you end up just talking about the same old stuff," he says. "Group travel is one of the best ways to maintain friendships because you make new memories and share them together."
"Last year we went to Europe and visited a couple of cities including Venice . We stayed in a 500-year-old house that was right on the canals. It was from the Renaissance period and completely nuts to be staying in a place with that much history. The whole trip was magical, a real once-in-a-lifetime experience that none of us will ever forget."
Given the rise in popularity of group bookings – something that shows no sign of slowing – it’s hardly surprising that Airbnb has introduced new features to its app to cater for multi-person trips. These include shared wishlists and group chat facilitates enabling friends to pick the perfect place to stay more easily and also allow everyone within the group to communicate with the host whereas before only one person could do so.
The 42-year-old has his sights fixed firmly on the future in the hope of changing the world even further. "Five years from now I would like to read the headline that Airbnb has created one billion new friendships. I want to focus on connecting people and helping them have magical and memorable experiences together."

Boasting traditional Myconian architecture – think white plastered walls, local stone and charming Cycladic arches – the property has a gorgeous pool and is blessed with a location other properties can only dream of. Not only is Mykonos Town just minutes away but there’s a local market nearby and some of the island’s loveliest beaches are a short drive away. The views down towards Nammos beach are pretty special, too.

Bursting with character, this historic hilltop hideaway dates back to the 18th century when it started life as a wine press. Fast forward a few hundred years and it’s welcoming groups to experience the magic of rural Spain. Surrounded by olive, oak and fig trees which hide caves said to be more than 6,000 years old, Lagar los Pilones offers a rustic retreat with wooden beams, an open-plan living area complete with fireplace and stop-in-your-tracks mountain views. The best bit? The museums, bars and beaches of Malaga are just 20 minutes away.
Brežice, Slovenia; up to six guests

There’s plenty to keep you busy with vineyards and natural hot springs all nearby.
Formentera, Spain; up to 10 guests
The alluring Balearic island of Formentera has been captivating people for centuries. This sweet spot in Sant Francesc is one of peace, privacy and tranquillity. Gagarin cup (khl) finals: atlant moscow oblast vs. salavat yulaev ufa.
Much like the Elitserien Finals, we have a bit of an offense vs. defense match-up in this league Final. While Ufa let their star top line of Alexander Radulov, Patrick Thoresen and Igor Grigorenko loose on the KHL's Western Conference, Mytischi played a more conservative style, relying on veterans such as former NHLers Jan Bulis, Oleg Petrov, and Jaroslav Obsut. Just reaching the Finals is a testament to Atlant's disciplined style of play, as they had to knock off much more high profile teams from Yaroslavl and St. Petersburg to do so. But while they did finish 8th in the league in points, they haven't seen the likes of Ufa, who finished 2nd.
This series will be a challenge for the underdog, because unlike some of the other KHL teams, Ufa's top players are generally younger and in their prime. Only Proshkin amongst regular blueliners is over 30, with the work being shared by Kirill Koltsov (28), Andrei Kuteikin (26), Miroslav Blatak (28), Maxim Kondratiev (28) and Dmitri Kalinin (30). Oleg Tverdovsky hasn't played a lot in the playoffs to date. Up front, while led by a fairly young top line (24-27), Ufa does have a lot of veterans in support roles: Vyacheslav Kozlov , Viktor Kozlov , Vladimir Antipov, Sergei Zinovyev and Petr Schastlivy are all over 30. In fact, the names of all their forwards are familiar to international and NHL fans: Robert Nilsson , Alexander Svitov, Oleg Saprykin and Jakub Klepis round out the group, all former NHL players.
For Atlant, their veteran roster, with only one of their top six D under the age of 30 (and no top forwards under 30, either), this might be their one shot at a championship. The team has never won either a Russian Superleague title or the Gagarin Cup, and for players like former NHLer Oleg Petrov, this is probably the last shot at the KHL's top prize. The team got three extra days rest by winning their Conference Final in six games, and they probably needed to use it. Atlant does have younger regulars on their roster, but they generally only play a few shifts per game, if that.
The low event style of game for Atlant probably suits them well, but I don't know how they can manage to keep up against Ufa's speed, skill, and depth. There is no advantage to be seen in goal, with Erik Ersberg and Konstantin Barulin posting almost identical numbers, and even in terms of recent playoff experience Ufa has them beat. Luckily for Atlant, Ufa isn't that far away from the Moscow region, so travel shouldn't play a major role.
I'm predicting that Ufa, winners of the last Superleague title back in 2008, will become the second team to win the Gagarin Cup, and will prevail in five games. They have a seriously well built team that would honestly compete in the NHL. They represent the potential of the league, while Atlant represents closer to the reality, as a team full of players who played themselves out of the NHL.
- Atlant @ Ufa, Friday Apr 8 (3:00 PM CET/10:00 PM EST)
- Atlant @ Ufa, Sunday Apr 10 (1:00 PM CET/8:00 AM EST)
- Ufa @ Atlant, Tuesday Apr 12 (5:30 PM CET/12:30 PM EST)
- Ufa @ Atlant, Thursday Apr 14 (5:30 PM CET/12:30 PM EST)
Games 5-7 are as yet unscheduled, but every second day is the KHL standard, so expect Game 5 to be on Saturday, like an early start.

Missouri and South Dakota Move Toward Abortion Rights Ballot Questions
Both states are reliably Republican and have abortion bans that are among the strictest in the nation.
- Share full article
By Kate Zernike
Two more states with near-total abortion bans are poised to have citizen-sponsored measures on the ballot this year that would allow voters to reverse those bans by establishing a right to abortion in their state constitutions.
On Friday, a coalition of abortion rights groups in Missouri turned in 380,159 signatures to put the amendment on the ballot, more than double the 172,000 signatures required by law. The Missouri organizers’ announcement followed a petition drive in South Dakota that announced on Wednesday that it, too, had turned in many more signatures than required for a ballot amendment there.
Both groups are hoping to build on the momentum of other states where abortion rights supporters have prevailed in seven out of seven ballot measures in the two years since the United States Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, which had established a constitutional right to abortion for nearly five decades.
Groups in about 10 other states have secured spots on the ballot for abortion rights measures or are collecting signatures to do so. Those include Arizona and Nevada, swing states where Democrats are hoping that voters who are newly energized around abortion rights will help President Biden win re-election.
South Dakota and Missouri are reliably Republican states. But their bans are among the strictest in the nation, outlawing abortion except to save the life of a pregnant woman.
Missouri, where post-Roe polls show that a majority of voters want abortion to be legal in all or most cases, appears to offer abortion rights groups the bigger chance of success. But both measures face significant hurdles.
Republicans who control the Missouri legislature are pushing another ballot question that would appear before voters in August and make it harder for future ballot amendments to succeed.
That measure would raise the threshold for victory, requiring not only a majority of voters statewide but a majority of voters in five out of the state’s eight congressional districts. Abortion rights supporters fear the requirement would allow a minority in rural areas that tend to oppose abortion rights to vote down the amendment.
Missouri legislators are expected to vote on that measure before their session ends this month. State officials will also have to decide whether the abortion rights measure appears on the primary election ballot in August, when turnout tends to be light, or in the general election in November.
The state’s Republican leaders have attempted to keep the measure from going before voters for more than a year. The secretary of state, Jay Ashcroft, attempted to change the language of the ballot measure in ways that could have inflamed fears that it would lead to dangerous and unregulated abortions; supporters of the measure successfully sued to block him.
The amendment in Missouri i s similar to ones passed in Ohio and Michigan. It would establish “the right to make and carry out decisions about all matters relating to reproductive health care,” including abortion. The Legislature could regulate abortion after the point when, “in the good faith judgment” of the treating health care professional, the fetus could survive outside the uterus without “extraordinary medical measures.”
In South Dakota, getting the signatures certified could be a challenge because Republican legislators passed a law in March allowing signers to withdraw their support. Backers of the amendment collected about 55,000 signatures, 20,000 more than needed, but anti-abortion groups are working to collect enough reversals to keep the measure off the ballot.
The amendment effort in South Dakota has been largely driven by one group, Dakotans for Health. Planned Parenthood and other usual allies of abortion rights have declined to support the effort. The groups say that the ballot amendment leaves open the possibility that the legislature could continue to regulate abortion so heavily that the amendment would allow, in the words of the state chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, “abortion in name only.”
The South Dakota amendment would prohibit the state from regulating “a pregnant woman’s abortion decision and its effectuation” during the first trimester, but would allow regulations on the procedure during the second trimester only in ways that are “reasonably related to the physical health of the pregnant woman.” In the third trimester, the state could regulate and even ban abortion, as long as the ban included exceptions for the “life or health of the pregnant woman.”
South Dakota is one of a handful of states where polls show that less than a majority of voters — 47 percent in a recent survey — believe that abortion should be legal in all or most cases. (The other states in that same survey were North Dakota, Arkansas, Idaho, and Utah.)

‘We want to go home’: Mechanical issues trigger 2-day delay of Hawaiian Air flight
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Hawaiian Airlines flight from Las Vegas to Honolulu has been delayed for two days, leaving passengers pleading with the carrier to offer solutions.
Hawaiian Airlines Flight 5 was scheduled to take off from Las Vegas on Wednesday evening.
But that flight has been delayed, canceled, and rescheduled multiple times.
Passengers are now expected to fly into Honolulu on Saturday morning.
“I just hope all of us get home safely,” said Nichole, a passenger. “We want to go home.”
She said the first delay for her and her family was on Wednesday night. The flight got pushed from 6:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.
At around 10 p.m., passengers were notified their flight was rescheduled to Thursday morning.
Then on Thursday, another day of delays.
The new flight is set for Saturday at 1:55 a.m.
“We’re all pretty unsure if this flight is even gonna go, we’re not having a good time,” she said.
“They also let us know if we were to go with another airline or they were to rebook us another way that we would be waiving any right to compensation.”
She added, “I’m about $1,000 out of pocket right now, as far as like money lost.”
In a statement, Hawaiian Airlines said a baggage belt loader that made contact with the aircraft required an inspection. However, they were unable to complete an assessment before crewmembers exceeded their duty time.
Due to ongoing aircraft inspection, the flight was canceled.
Hawaiian said it provided guests $20 food vouchers and hotel rooms through Saturday.
But Nichole said they had to check out of their room Friday morning.
“We asked the bell desk to just hold our luggage and see if they can hold it until tomorrow,” said Nichole. “So luckily there’s a place for them, we have nine pieces of luggage.”
Hawaiian Airlines also apologized if guests were offered shared rooms because of limited hotel availability. In addition, it said guests should contact its consumer affairs team to request reimbursement of any eligible personal expenses, including meals and transportation.
It works to process refunds within four weeks.

CIA director may travel to Israel for more cease-fire and hostage negotiations
CIA Director William Burns may travel to Israel for more cease-fire and hostage release talks after holding discussions on Sunday in the Qatari capital, Doha, a source with knowledge of the matter told NBC News.
Burns, whose schedule remained fluid amid uncertainty over the outcome of the talks, has emerged as a key figure in the negotiations. The CIA director had previously been in Cairo, where Hamas stated that cease-fire discussions concluded Sunday following “in-depth and serious discussions.”
The militant group reiterated key demands that Israel again rejected. After earlier signs of progress, the outlook appeared to dim as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to resist international pressure to halt the war.
Israel closed its main crossing point for delivering badly needed humanitarian aid for Gaza after Hamas attacked it. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant claimed Hamas wasn’t serious about a deal and warned of “a powerful operation in the very near future in Rafah and other places across all of Gaza .”
Early Monday, the Israeli military urged civilians in eastern Rafah to evacuate. The southernmost Gaza city, on the border with Egypt, is where more than half of Gaza’s 2.3 million residents now seek shelter from Israeli attacks.

Israel didn’t send a delegation to the talks mediated by Egypt and Qatar. Egyptian state media reported that the Hamas delegation went for discussions in Qatar, where the group has a political office, and will return to Cairo for further negotiations on Tuesday.
A senior Arab negotiator directly involved in the talks with Israel and the United States said that the negotiations are not over and have not collapsed.
Separately, an Israeli official said that Burns' presence in the region was an indication that there are still ongoing discussions. Burns was in the Qatari capital Doha for talks on the subject yesterday.
However, another threat to talks came as Israel ordered the local offices of Qatar’s Al Jazeera satellite news network to close , accusing it of broadcasting anti-Israel incitement. The ban did not appear to affect the channel’s operations in Gaza or the West Bank.
Netanyahu, under pressure from hard-liners in his government, continued to lower expectations for a cease-fire deal, calling the key Hamas demands “extreme” — including the withdrawal of Israel forces from Gaza and an end to the war. That would equal surrender after the Hamas attack on Oct. 7 that triggered the fighting, he said.
Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said in a statement earlier that the militant group was serious and positive about the negotiations and that stopping Israeli aggression in Gaza is the main priority.
But Israel’s government again vowed to press on with a military operation in Rafah, a key entry point for aid.
Kerem Shalom , now closed, is another. The Israeli military reported 10 projectiles were launched at the crossing in southern Israel and said its fighter jets later struck the source. Hamas said it had been targeting Israeli soldiers in the area. Israel’s Channel 12 TV channel said 10 people were wounded, three seriously. It was unclear how long the crossing would be closed.
The head of the U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees, Philippe Lazzarini, called for an independent investigation and “accountability for the blatant disregard of humanitarian workers.” He also said Israel this week denied him entry to Gaza for a second time.
The closing of Kerem Shalom came shortly after the head of the U.N. World Food Program asserted there was a “full-blown famine” in devastated northern Gaza, one of the most prominent warnings yet about the toll of restrictions on food and other aid entering the territory. The comments were not a formal famine declaration.
In expanded remarks as the full NBC News interview was released Sunday, WFP chief Cindy McCain said famine was “moving its way south” in Gaza and that Israel’s efforts to allow in more aid were not enough. “We need more ability to be able to get more trucks in,” she said. “We have right now a mass on the outside border, about enough trucks and enough food for 1.1 million people for about three months. We need to get that in.”
Gaza’s vast humanitarian needs put further pressure on the pursuit of a cease-fire . The proposal that Egyptian mediators had put to Hamas sets out a three-stage process that would bring an immediate six-week cease-fire and partial release of Israeli hostages taken in the Oct. 7 attack, and it would include some sort of Israeli pullout. The initial stage would last for 40 days. Hamas would start by releasing female civilian hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.
Netanyahu claimed that Israel has shown willingness to make concessions but said it “will continue fighting until all of its objectives are achieved.” That includes the stated aim of crushing Hamas. Israel says it must target Rafah to strike remaining fighters there despite warnings from the U.S. and others about the danger to civilians.
An Israeli strike Sunday on the al-Attar family house in an urban refugee camp near Rafah killed four children, including a baby, and two adults, according to Abu Youssef al-Najjar Hospital.
In a fiery speech for Israel’s annual Holocaust memorial day , Netanyahu added: “I say to the leaders of the world, no amount of pressure, no decision by any international forum will stop Israel from defending itself. If Israel is forced to stand alone, Israel will stand alone.”
The Hamas cross-border attack on Oct. 7 killed 1,200 people, and 250 others were taken hostage. Israel says militants still hold around 100 hostages and the remains of more than 30 others. Netanyahu is under growing pressure from some hostages’ families to make a deal to end the war and get hostages freed.
Israeli’s air and ground offensive has killed over 34,500 people, according to Palestinian health officials, who don’t differentiate between civilians and combatants but say women and children make up a majority of those killed.
Israel blames Hamas for civilian deaths, accusing it of embedding in residential and public areas. The Israeli military says it has killed 13,000 militants, without providing evidence to back up the claim.
