The Yorkville Historical Society will be hosting its annual holiday tour in the beautiful Historic District of York, SC. This favorite tradition showcases private homes, a church and other historic locations decorated for the holidays. This will be our traditional tour where you can go inside the sites.

The Yorkville Historical Society is happy to be planning the return of our annual Holiday Tour of Homes and Sites. Six beautifully decorated homes will be on the tour, as will Abiding Presence Lutheran Church and it's wonderful train set-up. Come see and listen to the carolers and, of course, get your picture taken with Santa!

Tickets will be available on-line at [email protected] after October 1 and at Yorkville Marketplace Christmas Show Nov. 12-13.

The Yorkville Historical Society will be hosting their annual holiday tour in the beautiful Historic District of York, SC. This favorite tradition showcases private homes and a church lovingly decorated for the holidays. This will be our traditional tour where you can go inside the sites.

• 323 North Congress Street (Abiding Presence Lutheran Church)

Unfortunately, the home at 9 Broad Street has had to step away from the tour and will not be available to visit. We hope you will enjoy the other 5 lovely homes and the church.

The Yorkville Historical Society will be hosting the annual Christmas Tour of Homes and sites in the beautiful Historic District of York, SC. This favorite holiday tradition showcases private homes, a church and a business, lovingly decorated for the holidays.

The tour will feature homes at 110 East Liberty, 16 West Liberty, 9 and 229 Kings Mountain Street as well as the York A.R.P. Church. Most locations are private residences and have stairs so this would not be considered a handicap accessible tour. Enjoy Downtown Music at 70 and 71 North Congress Street.

Tickets: Tickets may be purchased during the tour or in advance (December 7 at 4 PM) on our website http://YorkvilleHS.com . Will Call tickets may be picked up at Church of the Good Shepherd, 108 East Liberty Street, York, SC. Cost: Advance Tickets: Ages 4 and up – $10 ($11.49 with service fee); Ages 3/under – free Tickets are good for both days until all sites have been marked on the ticket.

I am so excited to finally be saying Merry Christmas at the top of my lungs. Bentley is pretty excited as well!

This time of year is just magical.

I love all things Christmas! I've discovered some great Christmas playlists on Spotify and with Amazon Music . I have our Alexa going all the time with tunes.

I love all the lights, the scents, and the traditional colors. News flash…..red is not a favorite color, but I love it in December. I'll even wear some red lipstick! See more my artificial trees this year HERE .

I love getting a jump on holiday decorating to get all the Christmas feels for the month.

December is a big month of celebrations around here. Of course the most important is our celebration of the birth of Jesus.

We also have my birthday on Christmas Eve.

As the kids grew up, I never wanted to make a big deal of my birthday on Christmas Eve. I always wanted it to be about Christmas Eve.

I even stopped celebrating with my extended family the day of. It was just too much with seeing everyone again on Christmas Day.

I started coordinating with mom to pick a day for a family dinner about a week out from Christmas. Spread out the holiday cheer a bit.

A new Christmas Eve tradition was born from this.

My husband and kids would have no part in NOT celebrating my birthday. Honestly, I think they go to more effort since it is on the 24th.

Christmas Eve ends up being what memories are made of.

We leisurely get up. They used to fix me a light breakfast, but I've been intermittent fasting for a couple of years now. I ignore all of that on Christmas Day though!

We go out to a nice lunch……it's usually a chain of some sort or whatever is open that looks good.

We then go to a movie…my choice. Last year we did not go with Covid. Not sure about this year. If we do go, I'm always crossing my fingers that a new Christmas movie has hit theaters. There just aren't as many as there used to be. That's a shame.

We come home and work together to prep our Christmas Morning Breakfast . We host a family breakfast each year. This favorite menu is the tradition. It is make-ahead so makes Christmas morning a breeze!

We then put together a quick charcuterie board or frozen pizza for dinner that we eat while enjoying a fire and settling in for a Christmas movie! We've even done a similar Brunch Board for dinner.

It truly is the most perfect birthday!

Before Covid, for 2 years in a row, my husband planned a little getaway. One year we went to Charlotte, NC just for the night with the kids and saw a Charlotte Hornets basketball game. It was so much fun!

The year before that it was my 50th birthday and we went to the Biltmore House on Christmas Eve! It was absolutely perfect. It had been many years since we had visited at Christmas. Even Woods sucked it up for his mom and didn't complain one bit.

It's always a fabulous Christmas Eve and birthday! They go above and beyond to make a holiday birthday special.

Christmas Day is like a whirlwind!

We get up way before the kids now (college) and get the coffee started. I set out the casseroles to get to room temp before baking them.

I snap some daylight photos of the family room and stockings before it becomes a sea of paper and debris!

My hubby starts a fire, making no point of being quiet….on purpose.

The kids come down and the fun begins while Christmas carols play in the background.

We each take turns seeing what Santa left in our stockings. I snap many photos.

We sit and enjoy the fire while the kids divvy up the gifts at each person's seat. We've kind of declared the spot we each sit in each Christmas to unwrap gifts.

We then take turns unwrapping gifts while the rest of us watch. I love doing it this way. We get to appreciate the gift and give a proper thank you. It also drags out the event for this sentimental mom.

We usually have all of this done for the company to arrive around 10 am for breakfast.

We are usually done by 12:30.

While everyone is on their merry way playing with gifts or napping…I start prepping for Christmas dinner. I've been taking over the hosting duties from my mom for the last few years.

Thankfully, I like to prep in advance so it's not too bad. I usually get in a little Christmas movie time on the couch before 6 pm dinner.

Our celebrating isn't over with Christmas Day.

I'm not sure what we were thinking, but we thought we'd need more merriment in the month of December. Our wedding anniversary is December 27th! Ha, ha!

We do usually go out for dinner to celebrate but stay in on New Year's Eve. It will be 32 years soon.

All in all, it's the most amazing month! I cherish the memories! I'm holding them close to my heart this year in that it may be the last time that we are all living under the same roof for Christmas. New traditions may have to evolve as Ashlyn will be married this time next year, and Woods will probably be on his own by then.

Everything is so lovely…thanks for sharing!! Love it all. Our daughter-in-law has her birthday on Christmas Day which I initially thought was wonderful….but she once confided in me that she never felt she had a day that was “my own.” So I always make a point of separating the two events by wrapping her birthday gifts in non-Christmas paper, and delivering the gifts on the 25th and emphasizing “birthday”!!!!! She adores butterflies so I keep my eyes peeled for butterfly themed paper, bags, etc. She and my son were married on December 10th, so they sometimes celebrate her birthday then. Merry Christmas.

Wow! Your daughter and I have a lot in common. So great of you to make that extra effort and remember her love of butterflies on her birthday.

Another Christmas baby! 76th Annual Fort Mill Christmas Parade

Date: Saturday, December 2, 2023

Location: Historic Downtown Fort Mill

The 76th Annual Fort Mill Christmas Parade is a cherished tradition featuring bands, floats, dancing, singing, go-carts, and, of course, Santa Claus! Grand Marshals will lead the parade through the streets of Historic Downtown Fort Mill, beginning at Tom Hall and Unity Street and exiting at Walter Elisha Park. Local schools, officials, businesses, churches, scouts and beauty queens will all be a part of the parade. You can enjoy the festivities all starting at 11:00 AM.

Yule Market at The Mercantile HQ

Dates: Saturday, December 2nd, 2023.

Location: The Mercantile HQ’s Holiday

Embrace the Yule Tide spirit at The Mercantile HQ’s Holiday Market from 11 AM to 5 PM. This magical Artisan Market is your one-stop destination for holiday gifts and a chance to support local artisans and businesses.

You can engage in various festive activities, making it a day filled with joy with your loved ones. From drink specials and DIY Yule Log decorating to ornament painting, there is something for everyone. The 53 rd Annual Clover Christmas Parade is a delightful event to attend with your family and friends, starting on North Main Street. If you are one of the spectators, make sure to arrive and station along Main Street before the event begins. There will be food trucks with different snacks and a variety of food. It is a perfect way to get into the holiday spirit and support the “TOYS for HAPPINESS 2023” initiative.

Miracle on White Street

Prepare for an enchanting Southern Christmas evening at the White Home with “Miracle on White Street.” Formerly known as the Fezziwig Ball, this event promises a night to remember. Get ready for a delightful evening filled with culinary creations from Chef Rob of Kounter in Rock Hill. Savor signature cocktails, wine and beverages while dancing the night away to the tunes of the returning band, Chunky Daddy.

Held annually on the second Saturday of December from 4 until 8 p.m., this self-guided tour consists of three or four private homes and a church, all decorated for the holidays!

There is also a wine and cheese reception..

After your purchase, ticket(s) and details, including location addresses and history information, will be made available to you via your selected method of either office pick-up or mail.

All locations will be open during the designated h ours, so you may begin at any location and travel at your own pace and in any order.

(Only 200 available) Saturday/Sunday Tour – $55 in advance $60 the day of the tour Online tickets available starting in September. Tickets will be available starting in October at area businesses (cash or checks only) including The Chocolate Tree, Sweet Bay, Tidal Creek Haven, The Kitchen, Dataw Island Pro Shop, Markel’s (Bluffton), and Saint Peter’s Catholic Church office, 70 Lady’s Island Drive.
