I wasn't expecting to be at a gig where 97% of the audience was aged between 15 - 20 but I was at this gig and as I'm exactly 3 decades older than 20 so I might as well have been a Stegosaurus at this gig (would have been better a stegosaurus at a T Rex gig)!!

Anyway bad Sounds got the audience buzzing if I'd have been 16 I'd have loved it. Anyway, I don't mind the group and they are good at what they do, decent music and an energetic lively night. Would I go again no but if you're a lively teenager wanting a friendly action packed group to entertain you absolutely go for it you'll have a good night.

I got to see the last night of the tour and it was amazing. They really don't disappoint - if you like their music you will really enjoy them live. The whole crowd (sold out) was lively, mosh pits and jumping to the songs (it helps that they're super danceable).

Have seen Bad Sounds a few times now and they always put on an excellent show, amazing tunes, great atmosphere and couldn’t stop dancing. The concept behind the current tour is brilliant, if you ever have the chance to see them don’t turn it down!!

Saw them live at the Cambridge Junction whilst they were touring with RATBOY. Probably the only time I could say a support act was as good as the main act I went to see.

Bad sounds premiere soul-inspired music video for “escaping from a violent time”.

Cotswolds duo Bad Sounds continue to broaden their sound on new single “Escaping From A Violent Time”. Check out the music video here…

' src=

Brotherly duo Bad Sounds return with a brand new track, “Escaping From A Violent Time”, taken from the upcoming EP Escaping From a Violent Time, Vol. IV , the final instalment of their four-volume collection due in 2024.

Following on from the recent singles, “One The Ropes” and “Beggin”, “Escaping From A Violent Time” continues the duos musical evolution and represents yet another left turn in the Bad Sounds catalogue. Speaking about the single, they say:

“When it was originally conceived; the idea of “Escaping From A Violent Time” felt like a much more metaphorical statement. Something that could be applied to how each person is battling through their day to day lives, seeking distraction over solutions. But clearly we’re releasing the song at a time when the song can be interpreted in a much more literal way. Somehow this trend of writing something for one reason, and then it feeling entirely more relevant when it gets released seems to have been a theme throughout the releasing of this whole project. It makes us seem much more clever than we are.”

Check out the video here:

The band’s recent EP, Escaping From A Violent Time Vol. 3 , released in April 2023, showcased Bad Sounds’ inimitable brand of alternative-pop. Delivering a broad spectrum of music both sonically and lyrically, ensuring they will not be put in a box. The series of EPs represents the purest distillation of their artistry yet.

Speaking about how the new single fits into their catalogue, the duo say:

“This song has been through many different iterations in its journey to being finished. At one point it was a country song, and at another point it sounded like “Sexual Healing” blended with “Band On The Run”. Happy to say we saw the error of our ways with those versions and the final version feels like it should to me; like a kind of affirming soulful mantra. A lot of love went into this song and I think the whole EFAVT saga would be incomplete without it.”

Staying DIY through and through, including building their own studio in the rural Cotswolds near their home, this base to both work on their own music and forge new creative relationships, has broadened their artistic scope more than ever before.

I have an unhealthy obsession with bad horror movies, the song Wanted Dead Or Alive and crap British game shows. I do this not because of the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lifestyle it affords me but more because it gives me an excuse to listen to bands that sound like hippos mating.

In The Know: Sam from Bad Sounds picks his fave up-and-comers

  • Tue 9th October, 2018

bad sounds tour

There are always more bands – the biggest question is who do you listen to when it comes to recommendations? Obviously Dork, your new music bible, should be your first port of call, but there are others too. This month we ask  Sam  from  Bad Sounds .

All five members of the band discover new artists through different mediums, in both the physical and digital sense, from random streaming service playlists to 7” singles clubs (like Flying Vinyl), compilation cassettes and Soundcloud / Bandcamp mixtapes. The latter is how I stumbled upon Sorry , my favourite new band. Upon the first listen, I had the exact same surging feeling to when Nirvana’s ‘Bleach’ finally clicked in my head. It’s just natural and all them and no pressure. All their recordings are real and close, and you can hear the cracks and breaths, it’s honest. I love Sorry so much that I spent a whole van journey on Audacity cutting both Demo/ns mixtapes into separate songs and naming the files in iTunes etc. Long boy.

Charlie [Pitt, guitar] is mega into the local musical wealth of the Bristol community. He’s particularly loving the output of Breakfast Records; Slonk, Langkamer, Nugget and Kate Stapley to name a few. Charles is real into the indie, DIY folky kinda stuff.

Myself and Ewan [Merrett, co-frontman] are digging Donny Benét ; his first record came out recently. That whole community arising from Australasia is so fascinating for me, especially Alex Cameron, Kirin J. Callinan and Connan Mockasin. That kinda sound/vibe also stretches to Paris, where Infinite Bisous is creating the most wonderful washy slumber numbers. Callum [Merrett, co-frontman] and I supported him recently on one of his UK tour dates with a sultry Bad Sounds DJ set. He bloody loved it when I spun an obscure Haruomi Hosono instrumental.

We’ve gotta mention Stoke’s Dylan Cartlidge , he’s only got a few tracks out so far, but they are cranked up, dirt-slick beaty bangerz. ’Love Spoons’ and ‘Scratch Sniff’ are jumping. He’s actually coming on the road with us in October – Dylan and his bandmates Matt and Jordan are the loveliest guys we’ve ever met.

We’re also touring with another new band, which again, are one of the most kindhearted bunch of fellas we’ve had the pleasure of hanging with – Indoor Pets . We first saw them a little while back while they were performing under a different name, they’ve just got signed now, and are recording stuff which we can’t wait for. Their fey energy and jolty gnar-shredding set blows any live performance we’ve done outta the water. Witnessing the shrieking and poetic clamour of ‘Barbiturates’ is purified elation, you gotta hear/see it. They’re unlike any new band around; we’re too lucky to have them and Dylan touring with us.

Taken from the October issue of Dork. Bad Sounds tour the UK from 24th October.

REVIEW: Social Distortion and Bad Religion reignite punk rock on tour

A+rowdy+audience+roars+with+admiration+following+an+impressive+performance+by+iconic+punk+rock+band%2C+Social+Distortion%2C+on+April+10+at+the+Santa+Barbara+Bowl.

In the late ‘70s, punk rock bands were absolutely thriving, displaying their raw talent and strident sounds. This new genre emerged and took all rock enjoyers by storm, but amidst the never-ending stream of musical talent, two bands emerged as icons of the era: Social Distortion and Bad Religion .

With their rebellious lyrics, raucous vocals, and thought-provoking anthems, these two bands changed the face of punk rock while simultaneously influencing wider cultural movements. And now, over 40 years since the first time they played together, they come together for a co-headline tour promising to be nothing short of legendary.

Gates opened at 6 p.m. on April 10 at the Santa Barbara Bowl , and their second concert on the tour was completely sold out. A buzzing audience hastily made their way up to the heart of the bowl, most repping worn-in merchandise from both bands.

Navigating through a crowd this large was no easy task. Long lines dominated the surrounding area, offering various food, beverages, and merchandise. A unique audience populated this scene, all agreeably discussing a shared fondness for the nostalgia-provoking bands.

Luminous blue and purple lights welcomed Bad Religion onto the stage. Vibrance emitted through the crowd, a radiant sunset in the backdrop setting the tone for an admittedly unforgettable night.

bad sounds tour

A personal favorite, “Leave Mine to Me,” provoked the beginning of a rowdy mosh. A concert of this caliber offers a unique experience where pushing and shoving are not only acceptable but encouraged.

As I glanced around, leather jackets plastered with various punk rock patches seemed to be the dress code for the night. The individuals wearing the proper attire impressively sang every lyric of every song, all the while violently bounding through the frenzy they’d created.

Lead singer Greg Graffin encouraged the ecstatic crowd as the sky darkened and stage lights illuminated his band. Being the only constant member of the band over four decades has earned him fame, and his undeniable talent still touches fans to this day.

Co-founded by former lead guitarist Brett Gurewitz in 1979, Bad Religion’s discography has inspired generations of musicians with its intellectual lyricism and made it a reputable trailblazer of the genre.

Debatably, their most popular song, “American Jesus,” completely disheveled the crowd. The aggressive mosh reached the outlines of the pit, and enjoyers of all ages participated in the contagious scene.

The only pause in the chaos was the sporadic falling of a crowd member, followed by unanimous help to lift the eager fan back up. This is a certain concert etiquette I’ve not usually found in punk shows.

Almost as quickly as they started, Bad Religion ended their set with a deafening guitar solo and final remarks of gratitude to their fans. The crowd quickly flooded out of the pit, seemingly on the hunt for somewhere to rest before the next predictably intense performance.

At promptly 8:30 p.m., Social Distortion took the stage. A quietness stilled the audience, anticipation hushing their fans. Lead singer and guitarist Mike Ness spearheaded the band in 1978 and, through the decades, has achieved the creation of hard-hitting punk without compromise.

bad sounds tour

The aggressive energy quickly reignited as signature songs, “Through These Eyes,” “Story of My Life,” and “Reach For The Sky,” encapsulated a true punk concert. You wouldn’t be able to tell the crowd had been keeping the same pace for nearly two hours, considering the vitality was only escalating.

Intense shoving was required to break into the seemingly impenetrable flow of the mosh, the band increasing their intensity with every song.

It seemed the band was just as fervent and rebellious as they were when they entered the punk scene in the late ‘70s. With their anti-systematic lyricism and signature sound, I now completely understand how they’ve changed punk culture for the better.

A quieter piece, “Ball and Chain,” united the audience at an agreed standstill. According to Ness, this piece is a hard-luck story, almost a plea or forceful cry to be unburdened. It’s a certain lyricism that relates closely with the band, which has suffered at the hands of addiction and numerous untimely personnel shifts over the years.

Social Distortion ended the night with an aggressive outro and heartfelt appreciation from the band members.

Weaving through an exhausted crowd, remarks of awe floated through the air. Accompanied by the occasional complaining of blood and soreness.

Both bands have earned their reputation as bonafide punk legends. They contributed more than just music; they were part of a scene that genuinely changed culture. Being a fan myself, the opportunity to witness the collaboration of such influential bands was an unforgettable experience.

Their presence in the punk world is still as prevalent as it was four decades ago; Bad Religion and Social Distortion will continue their nationwide co-headlining tour until the end of May.

Bad Bunny rides horse into Nashville's Bridgestone Arena. Here are the top moments from 'Most Wanted Tour' concert stop

bad sounds tour

On Saturday night, the King of Latin Trap summoned his inner cowboy, riding horseback into Bridgestone Arena during his "Most Wanted Tour" concert.

The Puerto Rican singer, rapper and global pop star delivered a 37-song, high energy concert in Nashville that combined elements of the fine arts, Latin pop and western culture.

Bad Bunny drew from classic trap sounds, conversational rap and reggaeton. But, he also incorporated elements of classical music, rock, bachata and soul into his show, blending genres in the trademark manner that grew him one of the biggest fanbases in the world.

Best known for songs "PERRO NEGRO," "un x100to" and "MONACO," Bad Bunny, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, is one of the top global streaming artists.

He's won three Grammys and was a top touring artist in 2022. Bad Bunny took a break from touring extensively last year, but hit the road again this year.

In October, he released his newest album “ nadie sabe lo que va a pasar mañana ” (which translates to: "nobody knows what will happen tomorrow"), which became the most streamed album in a single day in 2023 on Spotify.

Bad Bunny's tour in support of his fifth studio album kicked off in February in Salt Lake City, UT, and will run through May, ending in Miami, FL.

Nashville fans filed into Bridgestone Arena dressed to the tour's theme, wearing western garb that leaned into the "Most Wanted" cowboy outlaw energy.

Many fans showed up in cowboy hats and boots or bandanas tied around their neck. Some opted for the sleek all-black look with fishnets. Others nodded to Bad Bunny himself, wearing backwards hats, thick chains and skinny sunglasses.

Some audience members brought Puerto Rican flags with them, waving them around in the arena.

One fan, Christian Rivera, had a small flag with him in the show.

Rivera, a Puerto Rican Nashvillian, said he felt represented at the concert.

"Someone from your culture coming out here and putting on a show instead of (only country artists), to me, that's a bigger deal," he said.

The evening's concert was a tight two-hour show split into four distinct acts. Each portion of the show had its own feel, flair and notable moments.

Much of the show included laser lights, pyrotechnics, moving platforms, bursts of fire and smoke, and a larger-than-life production that bordered on spectacle.

Here are the concert's top moments, act by act.

Act I: 'Nadie Sabe'

The show began shortly after 9 p.m. CST, with no openers hitting the stage before Bad Bunny.

But, Bad Bunny did enlist the help of an orchestra who performed a 10-minute sweeping, orchestral overture leading up to his arrival.

The arena was set up with two crescent-shaped stages separated by the audience in between, one inhabited by the orchestra and the other empty.

The show began with orange lights and smoke pouring over the orchestra as they played, wearing black suits and stunning the crowd with strings and horns.

On the other stage, Bad Bunny ascended from an under-stage platform as the crowd chanted "Benito."

He kicked off the night with "Nadie Sabe," wearing a black suit like the orchestra members, a white shirt, a bolo tie (which he later threw into the crowd), a backwards hat and a studded black scarf.

Bunny performed "Nadie Sabe," "Monaco" and "Fina" with the accompaniment of the orchestra, adding layers of instrumental harmony to his Latin trap sound.

The first portion of the show saw hits like "Hibiki," "Mr. October" and "Seda," showing Bad Bunny rapping and singing in his slurred, sensual style. He danced on stage, jumped and skipped, leaning into his pop stardom with an entourage of 18 backup dancers.

His dancers wore cowboy chaps and alternated between unchoreographed, smooth, slinking movements to highly coordinated hip-hop dance routines.

The end of Act I came with song "Baticano," where Bad Bunny descended back into the stage via the moving platform, pushed down by his backup dancers wearing ghoul masks and hooded cloaks.

Act II: Trap

Act II began with an attention-grabber.

Bad Bunny rode horseback into the arena , entering from backstage on the back of a trotting brown horse, to the surprise of fans in the arena.

Bad Bunny has been entering on horseback for the second act since the tour's kick-off; some fans have criticized his use of an animal in the show after the entrance began going viral at the end of February.

Some concert-goers have called attention to animal rights, creating a debate that discusses the ethics of animals in the music and entertainment space.

Though the horseback entrance has been widely publicized, many fans were still astonished by Benito's return to the stage.

He kicked off act two with "Telefono Nuevo," and played hits like "Pa Ti," "No Te Hagas" and "Vuelve."

Notable, in Act II, was the fact that fans were wearing light up lanyards provided by the venue, coordinated in time with Bad Bunny's stage lights.

As he sang and rapped and lights flashed around him, blinking lights twinkled from fan's lanyards around the whole arena, creating a visual display that reached far beyond just the stage. The fans were part of the decor.

The act ended with a show-stopping performance of "Thunder Y Lightning" that simulated a thunderstorm, showing flashing strobes reminiscent of lighting and bursts of smoke like storm clouds.

Act III: Piano ballads

Act III leaned into a softer side of Bad Bunny's sound.

He sat on top of a grand piano and sang "Gracias por Nada" and "Un x100to," delivering an emotive, heartfelt performance.

Here, Bad Bunny reminded his fans that he doesn't just rap, he sings in a crisp tenor tone that is so remarkably clean it sounds like natural auto-tune.

The brief Act III added depth to Bad Bunny's concert, showcasing his breadth as an artist.

Act IV: Perreo

The final act brought perreo, a reggaeton dance portion.

For the last part of the show, the backup dancers returned and a DJ joined Bad Bunny, creating a fast switch-up from the piano-backed ballads just moments earlier.

Bad Bunny performed hits "Perro Negro," "La Jumpa," "Me Porto Bonito" and the encore "Where She Goes."

The quick-paced portion of the show showcased bursts of fire and flashing lights, an arena of dancing, screaming fans and an energetic momentum that carried to the concert's final moments.

Bad Bunny told the crowd time and time again his appreciation for them and Nashville, sharing the love and gratitude he felt on this tour.

"Buenos noches," he said. "Muchas gracias, Nashville!"

In October 2023, Bad Bunny dropped his fifth studio album “nadie sabe lo que va a pasar mañana,” which he claims is a nod to his trap roots and for the day-one fans.

Thing is, this record is packed with so many catchy beats and hooky choruses that it should be easily accessible to listeners both new and old.

Over 22 tracks, the rapper delivers 81 minutes of pulsing club tracks meant to get crowds hyped like the hypnotic “HIBIKI,” the dreamy “FINA” and the alternately spacey and throbbing “CYBERTRUCK.”

For our money though, the standout is the lush throwback “Monaco” with its cinematic score under Bad Bunny’s impeccable flow (plus, it doesn’t hurt that the  music video  features Al Pacino).

If you want to hear the already very popular record in its entirety, you can stream “nadie sabe lo que va a pasar mañana”  here .

Artists featured on the album include Arcángel, Bryant Meyers, Feid, La Paciencia, Mag, Mora, Ñengo Flow, Tainy, and Young Miko.

The 30-year-old Vega Baja native (whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) was first spotted leaving a restaurant with Jenner, 27, by TMZ in February 2023.

Three months later, they made their first official public appearance at a Lakers-Warriors NBA playoff game on May 12.

“I know something is going to come out. I know [people are] going to say something. People know everything about me, so what’s left for me to protect? My private life, my personal life,” Bad Bunny told Rolling Stone in an interview published in June.

In late September, the pair appeared in a Gucci Valigeria luggage  ad  which fans have speculated is their official couple announcement.

On Dec. 17, the two officially split. Two weeks later, they were seen celebrating New Years together near Barbados with good friends but confirmed they are “not back together.”

Many of the biggest stars in music are hitting the road this year.

Here are just five of our favorites you won’t want to miss live in the near future.
