Annual ‘Harvest Market Dinner and Dance’ to Be Held Aug. 12 at Ligonier Country Market Grounds

Tribute Band ‘Bon Journey’ to Headline Outdoor Event, Which Benefits LWA’s Community Education Programs

Ligonier, Pennsylvania – July 10, 2023 – Farm-to-table foodies and music fans will want to mark their calendars for Saturday, Aug. 12, to attend this year’s Harvest Market Dinner and Dance.

Co-sponsored by the Ligonier Country Market (LCM) and Loyalhanna Watershed Association (LWA), the annual picnic-style event will be held outdoors from 5 to 8 p.m. on the market grounds at the LWA Farm, located just off West Main Street, Springer Road, and Route 30 in Ligonier Township.

Laurel Highlands residents and visitors can purchase a wide, a la carte selection of locally pre-pared foods and beverages that LCM vendors will create to celebrate the farm-to-table lifestyle, which supports local farmers and food producers.

A highlight of this year’s event will be live music by Bon Journey, an acclaimed Pittsburgh-area and national musical act paying tribute to the songs of renowned rock bands Journey and Bon Jovi.

“People have really embraced this fun event that has become a summer tradition for our com-munity,” said Cari Frei, the market’s executive director. “Families and friends come year after year to relax, enjoy some amazing food and drinks from our market vendors, listen to live music, and spend an easy summer evening at the LWA farm. Plus, the event helps to support a very worthy cause, so we encourage everyone to join us Aug. 12.”

Tickets and parking are available for $5 per person and can be purchased online only through Eventbrite at https://harvestmarket2023.eventbrite.com or they can stop by the red, information tent at the Ligonier Country Market. A limited number of dinner party canopy set-ups are availa-ble for groups of eight people for an additional $50 donation. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $8.00. Event-goers are asked to please bring their own chairs, tables, canopies, or pic-nic blankets for a comfortable experience.

All proceeds will benefit the LWA’s free community education programs, which include ongoing environmental education lessons and activities for local students.

Attendees can purchase their meals at the event from any of the numerous LCM vendors who will be onsite and serving food and drinks.

Diners also will have a chance to win raffle prizes made and donated by LCM vendors. The an-nual butterfly release sponsored by Donna Tidwell also will occur.

Enjoy delectable food and beverage options available for purchase from a variety of local farms and vendors traditionally featured at the Ligonier Country Market, and spend an evening outdoors on the market grounds enjoying the summer weather and a live concert featuring - BON JOURNEY!

With over 400 shows played in 15 states since 2006, Bon Journey is America’s favorite original tribute to the iconic music of Bon Jovi and Journey. Covering the hits of two of the most popular American rock bands in history, the band quickly established itself as one of the premier party bands in the city and found success on the national level touring a variety of east coast cities and venues.

Cost for admission is only $5.00 per person (plus Eventbrite processing fees), and includes parking and an entry into a fabulous door prize giveaway and butterfly release. Last minute plan-maker? Tickets will also be available at the gate for $8 each. Wear your favorite 80s attire and be ready to dance the night away under the stars!

Bring your own pop up tent, table, chairs, or picnic blanket to set up in our 6-acre field, or for an added $50, there are a limited number of "Dinner Party Canopy's" available to reserve for your very own dinner party of 8. Dinner Party set-up includes a canopy tent, table and 8 chairs, table linens and a special centerpiece gift!

All proceeds from this event benefit the Loyalhanna Watershed Association's free community education and outreach programs.

Formed in the spring of 2006 in Pittsburgh, PA, Bon Journey was the first band of its kind. Paying tribute to two of the biggest arena rock acts in history, Bon Jovi and Journey, they bring you the music of these two giant Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-inducted bands. The band quickly became a staple in the local music scene, winning awards in 2006, 2007, and again in 2020. They then began playing nationally, hitting city after city.

The real Bon Journey is often imitated by other bands, even claiming to be them; though flattering, it is a bit confusing. It seems every city they played, a band copied them or wanted to be them. They are the first and original Bon Journey and the only composed of original members. From the first song they play, there is a difference: Essentially, there are four lead singers in one band, which makes Bon Journey a vocal powerhouse that separates them from most other acts! Not only with the incredible talents of lead singer Gary Bickerstaff, who has the range and soul of Steve Perry with the stage swagger of Jon Bon Jovi, but the high harmony and searing guitar of Dan Newman, the tight bottom end and vocal of bassist Rob Shine, the smooth voice of keyboardist Matt Friday, and the bombast of an amazing drummer in Justin Walker. The band delivers a show like no other and fans come in droves and never walk away disappointed!

Idlewild & SoakZone announces all-new free August concert series

LIGONIER, Pa. — Family trips to Idlewild & SoakZone will be more musical and magical this month thanks to a new, free concert series debuting Saturday, August 6. Each Saturday in August, Season Passholders and single-day guests get to extend their visits for free concerts beginning at 7:30 p.m. to jam out to some of the most popular songs of the 80’s, 90’s and today.

“We continue adding more live entertainment to Idlewild & SoakZone’s formula for family fun, and these special August concerts are the next act,” says General Manager Tim Heger. “Whether for a Saturday night free concert or a weekday getaway before the kids go back to school, Idlewild is the place to be this August.”

Don’t stop believing! You can be a dancing queen all month long at Idlewild with fantastically fun cover bands headlining every weekend free with park admission. Whether you’re a fan of Country, 80’s, Pop or Classic Rock,–Idlewild has the tunes to get heads bobbing and toes tapping. Beginning August 6 at Idlewild, the Hillside Theater plays host to ABBA tribute band  ABBA Mania  for the inaugural performance, followed by:

• August 13 – The  Andy Davis Band brings their unique, hard-driving country sound;
• August 20 – Go back to the 80’s with  Jessie’s Girl ; and
• August 27 –  Bon Journey  pays tribute to Rock & Roll Hall of Fame bands Bon Jovi and Journey

Smell the BBQ flowing in the air, feel the cold draft beer in your hand, and listen to songs performed live that had you wearing out your WALKMAN. Visit the park any Saturday in August and stay for the concert, on the bank of the Loyalhanna Creek, at no extra cost. Idlewild and SoakZone is open daily through Sunday, August 21, with summertime operations continuing weekends plus Labor Day until September 18.

Bon Journey set to headline Fall Fest musical entertainment lineup

ST. MARYS - Bon Journey, a combination Journey and Bon Jovi tribute band, will take the stage as the Saturday evening headliner act for the 2023 Fall Fest.

The Pittsburgh-based band was formed in 2006 as a Journey tribute band after which Bon Jovi was added when band members realized how similar each of the band’s song structures were. Dan Newman, guitar player and band manager explained the Bon Jovi song "In These Arms" has some of the same progressions as  "Don't Stop Believin". 

“We blend both bands together sometimes seamlessly. Both Bon Jovi and Journey are timeless. We have fans that cross generations and they just seem to have such a blast and no matter the age of the material, it takes everyone back to a time or place in their lives that was special to them,” Newman said. “We are looking forward to coming to St. Marys!” 

The band quickly became a staple in the Pittsburgh-area music scene winning awards in 2006, 2007 and again in 2020. They then began playing nationally hitting city after city. 

Newman explained they have been copied by other bands over the years with some even using their name.
