Pilanesberg Tented Camp

The famous malaria-free Pilanesberg National Park is home to Africa’s Big 5 game animals, and the Pilanesberg Tented Safari Camp can be found inside the Manyane Resort in the park.

The Pilanesberg National Park is one of the most interesting wildlife reserves in Southern Africa, and it is also one of the most accessible. This expansive area, which is free of malaria and is located in an ecologically rich transition zone between the Kalahari and the Lowveld, delivers exhilarating big game watching in an interesting environment. There is a large selection of possible lodging options, including Pilanesberg Tented Camp, available to meet your requirements.

This accommodation option offers a real safari experience at a reasonable price and you will be hosted by local safari guides during your stay at this lodge, with regular visits from native impalas, warthogs, and banded mongooses a commonplace.

A true safari experience can be had here at an inexpensive price while local safari experts share their deep knowledge of the surrounding area during open safari vehicle game drives in the morning and afternoon.

Pilanesberg Tented Safari Camp is a tiny and intimate camp with only five safari tents available. Every safari tent is fully equipped with plush bedding, electricity, camp chairs, carpeted flooring, and wide canvas windows fitted with mosquito netting.

In addition to a dining room and an enticing fire pit, there is a spacious tented lounge area. The safari tents, as well as the common facilities, are cleaned on a regular basis, and each safari tent features a little deck that looks out over the fireplace. The safari tents each have two single beds, a fan to keep you cool during the hot summer months, and electric blankets to keep you warm during the chilly winter nights.

  • Accommodation

At Pilanesberg Tented Safari Camp, accommodation is provided in the form of a small intimate camp with only 5 safari tents to house guests. Each safari tent is equipped with comfortable single beds, luxurious linens, electricity, camp chairs, carpeted flooring and large canvas windows with mosquito nets.

There is a large communal tented lounge as well as a dining area and an inviting fire pit for relaxations in the evenings.

Each safari tent has a small deck overlooking the campfire. The safari tents have two single beds and a fan to cool you down on hot summer days and electric blankets to keep you warm through the cold winter nights.

Furthermore, both the convenient communal bathroom facilities and safari tents are serviced daily.

Except for the safari tents, the tented lounge and dining area, the firepit is the place where guests enjoy spending their evenings reminiscing about the day’s game sightings or other outings.

Apart from the open safari vehicle game drives (early morning and late afternoon game drives are included in your stay), guests can make use of nearby Manyane’s swimming pool, bar and restaurant, the shop and Manyane resort spa.

There is also a Mini golf course, a walk-in aviary worth a visit, a trampoline, outdoor Chess and a children’s playground.

Although guests visit the area mainly to enjoy game watching, they can spend their leisure time on several other activities in the area.

Safaris over the park in hot air balloons, elephant-back safaris with elephant interaction where kids get the chance to get up close and personal with the elephants, and special safaris tailor-made for photographic, walking, and bird watching are some of the activities that can be enjoyed in the region.

Guests can also pay a visit to Sun City and take advantage of all of the great amenities that it has to offer during your time there, such as the Valley of Waves, the famed Gary Player Golf Course, and The Lost City Golf Course.

Private walking safaris can also be arranged in the undeveloped regions of Pilanesberg National Park by way of the firm Nare Walking Safaris, which is a private operator located in the Black Rhino Reserve.

These walking safaris can be booked through Pilanesberg Private Lodge. The walks are approximately two and a half hours long and concentrate on the more insignificant features of the flora and animals. During these hikes, visitors will have the opportunity to spot any one of the members of the Big 5 in the environment in which they were born and raised.

As visitors make their way along the route, they should be on the lookout for a diverse assortment of animals, including animal footprints and other evidence that animals have left behind, a cornucopia of different bird species, and a vast variety of plants and insects.

The fact that you are able to get up close and personal with all aspects of nature is what gives a walking safari its special appeal.

Walking safaris are becoming increasingly popular in recent years. Guests have reported spotting elephants, black and white rhinos, lions, and leopards when on safari from the resort in recent months.

In addition to that, the following kinds of activities offered in the surrounding area are:

An aerial safari in a hot air balloon high above the park’s grounds. You should use the opportunity to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime experience by making a reservation with the lodge upon arrival.

Elephant Back safaris – during such a safari guests can witness the communications between elephants and especially children will get the unique opportunity to engage in direct and personal interaction with the elephants.

Guests usually want to pay a visit to Sun City to take advantage of all the comforts and amenities that it has to offer, of which the Valley of Waves remains one of the most popular.

The more active visitors can take in some golf at the illustrious “Gary Player” course or alternatively at The Lost City Golf course.

There are endless opportunities to enjoy yourself, either with personalized hiking, birding, and photo safaris, or just lounging around and breathing in the fresh air.

The Manyane Resort is situated on the outskirts of the Pilanesberg National Park in South Africa’s North West Province. Manyane Resort is approximately two hours drive from Johannesburg. The resort is about ten minutes from the Sun City entrance.

The Manyane Resort is close to the Manyane entrance gate, which allows access to the malaria-free Pilanesberg. There is a rich diversity of animal and avian life to be discovered in this area. Manyane Resort offers a wide range of amenities despite being situated in the heart of the Bushveld.

The resort offers exceptional accommodations in the form of chalets and tents, as well as caravanning and camping facilities that are fully equipped.

Manyane is a Golden Leopard Resort and offers a variety of amusement options for guests to enjoy, ranging from miniature golf to swimming pools. However, the spectacular wildlife of the Pilanesberg Game Reserve remains the main draw, as it is at the majority of the region’s game lodges.

The resort offers a variety of lodging options, some of which are specifically designed for families and small groups of friends. Accommodation options include self-catering and non-catering options, as well as camping and caravan sites.

The game reserve, which was established in a crater of a long-dormant volcano created by eruptions around 1300 million years ago, is now home to a diverse range of wild species, including the “Big 5”. The Pilanesberg has evidence of early human settlement in the form of a large number of Stone Age and Iron Age sites scattered throughout the area.

In this transition zone, which lies between the arid Kalahari and the wetter Lowveld, mammals, birds, and flora from various biomes coexist. Animals found in desert areas, such as springbok, hartebeest, and brown hyena, coexist with residents of more moist areas, such as impala, providing a diverse range of species for guests staying at Manyane to observe.

Hills, the caldera’s high edge, forested ravines, the bushveld, and rolling meadows are just a few of the topographical features that contribute to the area’s breathtaking beauty.

Manyane offers a variety of lodging options, including safari tents, chalets with one bedroom that sleep two people, chalets with one bedroom and an above loft room that sleeps four people. There is also a caravan and camping park nearby.

There is an attractive aviary filled with indigenous birds, as well as a restaurant, a swimming pool, and a playground for children.

Guests can either drive themselves around Pilanesberg National Park or book a spot on one of the park’s guided game drives in advance.

There are two large swimming pools as well as a playground specifically designed for children. Manyane is a well-known lodge where guests can stay for one or two weeks at a time.

Accommodation

The accommodations at Manyane Resort are lavish cottages designed in an African style and topped with thatched roofs. These chalets come with either one or two bedrooms, a living room, and a kitchen that is completely stocked with all necessary appliances. A number of the chalets feature an additional bedroom located in the loft area.

The conference facilities at the Manyane Resort are among the best in the industry, and they are complemented by the resort’s distinguished level of individualised service and meticulous attention to even the minutest of details.

The knowledgeable members of the team are prepared to assist you every step of the way, from conceptualising the event to flawlessly carrying it out, regardless of how large or small the event you are planning happens to be.

The hotel has 55 thatched cottages designed in an African style, and guests can choose between a BB stay or a D/BB stay.

The Manyane Resort camping is a clear favourite due to its excellent ablution facilities. The resort offers both electric and non-electrified sites for camping and caravanning, making it suitable for both types of travellers.

In addition to the ever-popular game drives that take place within Pilanesberg National Park, during which guests have the opportunity to see the “Big five,” the lodge offers a variety of other recreational opportunities for guests to enjoy, such as two swimming pools, a trampoline, outdoor chess set, mini golf, walking trails, and an onsite aviary.

The Manyane Resort is a place where guests can unwind and get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. If there is a power outage, Manyane Resort is equipped with generator support around the clock.

Two single beds, a shower, a toilet, two chairs, a mini-fridge, cutlery for two people, a kettle, and braai facilities are provided in each of the two sleeper chalets; however, there is neither a kitchen nor a facility for preparing food.

The 4-sleeper chalets include the main bedroom with a double bed downstairs, a loft room with two single beds upstairs (not suitable for the elderly), a fully equipped kitchen combined with a lounge, air conditioning, and a braai patio. Additionally, these chalets are pet-friendly. In addition to that, there is a stove with an oven, as well as a bathroom with a shower.

A safari tent at the Manyane Resort comes equipped with two single beds, a refrigerator, a place to make tea and coffee, and a braai.

Towels are provided, but guests use the restrooms and showers in the common area.

Caravan and Campsite sites may or may not have access to electricity; however, all sites are grassy and can accommodate six people and two vehicles each. The ablution facilities are communal at the campsites.

Manyane Resort has a restaurant, two swimming pools, a walk-in aviary, trampoline, outdoor chess, a children’s playground, an on-site superette, and conference facilities in addition to the accommodation.

Overhead projectors, VCR recorder, TV, image projector, white board multi-media projectors, PA system, fitted flexi rails, flip charts, and other conference aids and facilities are available for up to 80 people.

Secretarial services, facsimile, and photocopying can be arranged.

Manyane Resort is ideal for all types of banquets, receptions, seminars, product launches, and team-building activities

Guests can explore the Pilanesberg Game Reserve in their vehicle or join a guided game drive. The majority of Africa’s big game, including the Big 5, can be found in Pilanesberg.

Hiking trails begin in the early morning and are led by an experienced guide, while game drives begin in the early morning and end in the late afternoon.

During game drives in open safari vehicles, close encounters with lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and buffalo are possible. A plethora of game, including rare species such as wild dogs and cheetahs, joins the Big 5.

In the boma, tribal dance groups can be formed.

A hot air balloon ride over Pilanesberg National Park is a meditative experience. There will be no turbulence, and the only sound will be the burner occasionally firing.

Exploring the bush on foot will provide a more intense experience in many ways. With your knowledgeable guide, you will learn the details that make Pilanesberg’s unique environment work.

Quad Bikes – A quad bike is a great way to get around in rough terrain. Quad bike tours are led by knowledgeable guides and are suitable for even inexperienced riders. Experience the rush of racing through breathtaking scenery with the wind in your face.

Archery – Try out this ancient sport. Archery is a sport that requires accuracy and focus. The guides will show you how to maximise the power of the bow.

Birding Safaris – To believe the diversity of birdlife in Southern Africa, you must see it for yourself. Bring binoculars and a camera to see some of the over 300 bird species found in the Pilanesberg Game Reserve. The large raptors are fascinating, but the detail and colour of the smaller species are equally so.

Photographic Safaris – game vehicles designed specifically to photograph African animals. The rangers and guides are not only knowledgeable about the fauna and flora, but they are also avid photographers eager to assist you in capturing the perfect shot.

A minimum stay of 2 nights over weekends (Friday, and Saturday) is required, and 1 night midweek (Sunday to Thursday).

Peak Season rates apply during holiday periods in June, September/October and December/January.

We will be first-time overnight visitors to Manyane over the next weekend. Would love to know which of the safari tents we can request that might be the quietest and most removed from the rest of the camp. We understand that there is a bar nearby that makes lots of noise at night and would prefer to also get a unit as far away as possible from there.

This Texas Glamping Property Near Austin Has Safari Tents With Wrap-around Decks and Is Next to a State Park

Outdoorsy Hill Country is tucked in the rolling Texas hills near the state's iconic wine trail.

If you need another reason to visit the Texas Hill Country , consider this: the rolling landscape is now home to a luxury glamping retreat with safari tents surrounded by wrap-around decks and a spring-fed lake. The new property, Outdoorsy Hill Country , is both the latest addition to the Texas Hill Country and the newest property in the Outdoorsy portfolio, an RV rental marketplace that is making a name for itself for its glamping-style retreats.

Outdoorsy Hill Country is nestled in Stonewall, Texas, between Austin and Fredericksburg on 32 acres. The property is expansive, with a spring-fed lake, walking trails, and a grove of live oaks. The day starts and ends with one of Texas’ spectacular sunrises and sunsets — best viewed from the wrap-around deck enveloping each of the property’s 22 safari tents.

“Our vision was to create an iconic destination that fuses rustic charm, immersive outdoor experiences, and refined Hill Country hospitality for thoughtful travelers from Texas and beyond,” Jeff Cavins, Outdoorsy's CEO, said in a press release shared with Travel + Leisure .

Jen Young, the co-founder and CMO of Outdoorsy, added, "We fell in love with Hill Country when we built a glamping tent for ourselves … we couldn't be more delighted to share this space with guests who are seeking out the restoration that time in nature provides.”

While nature may be the focus of a stay at Outdoorsy Hill Country, the highlight is the lodging. Each all-season glamping tent is surrounded by a panoramic deck and private fire pit.

Inside, there’s a king-size bed and a twin and trundle bed to sleep two to four people and full temperature control, with both heat and air-conditioning on tap. Rounding out the offerings are a fully equipped kitchenette and a private ensuite bathroom with a rainshower and plush robes.

Beyond the privacy of your secluded hideaway, you’ll find a handful of on-property offerings, including a cafe and bar with outdoor seating overlooking the neighboring Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and a menu that features juices, smoothies, and grab-and-go breakfast options in the morning and craft cocktails and local wines at night.

The live oaks provide shelter for the outdoor live music venue, while the country store sells everything you need to grill or assemble an afternoon picnic.

Further afield, guests can explore the Texas Wine Trail , which is on the doorstep of Outdoorsy Hill Country. (Plus, the Crown Hill Winery is right next door). In the neighboring towns of Luckenbach and Albert, there are historic dance halls, while the Lyndon B. Johnson State Park is just across the road.

Outdoorsy Hill Country is now taking reservations for stays starting March 21. The property’s first round of guests will be treated to views of the Total Solar Eclipse on April 8.
