➡️ Is Walthamstow a good area to live?

Yes! There’s a reason why Walthamstow is so popular to live right now, as it has accessible transportation, pleasant and massive green spaces and a thousand things to do. Like the ones in this list!

1. Walthamstow Market

116 high st, e17 7jx.

walthamstow market

As the longest daily outdoor markets in Europe, Walthamstow Market is a top destination you shouldn’t miss.

Dating back to 1885, the popular market stretches over a kilometre long and operates from Tuesday to Saturday. Here, locals find fresh produce like vegetables, fruits, meats and fish, as well as clothing, accessories and homewares.

You’ll love the diversity of the vendors overall, as it’s a real showcase of different cultures around the globe. Besides, the lovely attitude of every single one of the local sellers provides an authentic joyful shopping experience.

2. God’s Own Junkyard

God’s Own Junkyard is an incredible spot that earned a cult following in London and Los Angeles, and it found a new home in Walthamstow!

This wonderful place displays an extensive collection of neon lights, vintage signs, and quirky sculptures from film sets, old businesses, and other locations.

You’ll be dazzled by the luminescent colors and glowing artwork from the moment you step in, and you’ll even feel like you’re in old Las Vegas or Times Square. Ideal for all art lovers, photographers and anyone seeking an Instagram-worthy experience.

You can also enjoy a coffee in their cafe, open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

3. Walthamstow Wetlands

walthamstow wetlands

The Walthamstow Wetlands is Europe’s largest urban wetland reserve, with over 211 hectares of green paradise.

It was opened to the public recently, in 2017, and it’s perfect to explore the diverse wildlife of the country, within its massive water bodies and multiple trails. Just be extremely careful and conscious on your visit, as it’s part of London’s water supply!

Prepare to walk or cycle a lot, as it’s so gorgeous you’d want to see it all (although you probably won’t). And don’t be afraid to bring some snacks, as locals love their picnics in this oasis.

4. Lloyd Park & Clissold Park

lloyd park walthamstow

The wetlands are not the only green wonder in Walthamstow, as you also have two spectacular spaces to enjoy.

The first is Lloyd Park , one of the borough’s most beloved parks. You can enjoy the beautifully maintained gardens, tennis courts, basketball court, skate park and a children’s playground. Or visit the iconic William Morris Gallery (more on that in the next point) and the waterside café.

The park is also a community hub, hosting several events throughout the year, including the annual Walthamstow Garden Party, a free festival offering local crafts, food, entertainment, and music.

Clissold Park is another amazing option nearby, in the borough of Hackney. It’s also big, with approximately 22 hectares, and among its amenities are a paddling pool, tennis courts, a skate park, and children’s playgrounds.

In its heart there’s Clissold House, a stunning 18th-century private residence, which now operates as a coffee shop and events space. Or you can also visit the cute Clissold Park Animal Enclosure, with a range of animals like pygmy goats, fallow deer, and exotic birds.

5. William Morris Gallery

Lloyd park house, 531 forest rd, e17 4pp.

Ver esta publicación en Instagram Una publicación compartida de William Morris Gallery (@morrisgallery)

The William Morris Gallery , in the surroundings of Lloyd Park, is the only museum in the UK devoted to the life and legacy of William Morris, one of the most influential designers, craftsmen and social activists of the 19th century.

Today it’s the home of his largest collection, including his work in arts and crafts and his contributions as a poet, novelist, translator, and socialist.

I personally fell in love with the iconic textile and wallpaper designs, but maybe you’ll be more impressed with his stained glass, ceramics or furniture.

Aside from the permanent galleries (which are all free to enjoy), you can have a cup of tea in the charming Tea Room overlooking the park, browse the Gallery shop for amazing books and prints, or visit a temporary exhibition related to design, printmaking and social issues reflecting Morris’s influences and ideologies.

6. Walthamstow Pumphouse Museum

10 s access rd, e17 8ax.

The Walthamstow Pumphouse Museum is a local transport and industry museum in the neighbourhood that will give you a good insight into its fascinating history in the area.

The museum shows an impressive Marshall-Columbia Beam Engine, an original steam-powered engine originally installed in the building back in 1897 (that you can even see in action on special occasions), and other informative displays detailing the history of water supply and sewage systems in the area.

You can also admire the beautiful vintage vehicles and railway artefacts. So any transport lover or curious person will enjoy this massively!

Walthamstow area guide

Your guide to the best restaurants, bars and secret spots in Walthamstow, London's Eden of the East

You've heard the rumours of a haven at the end of the Victoria line, and you want to see it for yourself. As well as being home to Walthamstow Market – the longest in Europe!  – and near to leafy Epping Forest, Walthamstow is as close as you can get to the countryside without leaving the city.

As young Londoners moved further out of the capital in search of cheaper rents and house prices, many found themselves in E17, turning it into an evolving young suburb. It's home to the annual festival Walthamstow Garden Party , a popular London brewery and a particularly special neon treasure . But it's a place that works hard to preserve its industrial heritage , and east London pie and mash spirit. New restaurants, bars and venues are popping up in the area every month, so we've picked a few of our favourites.

Located at the northern end of the Victoria Line in the heart of East London, is this vibrant and bustling neighbourhood oozing charm, diversity and a wonderfully friendly atmosphere.

We’ve lived in between Leyton and Walthamstow for a few years and we’ve loved getting to know the area. We’re only a 15-minute walk away from the independent shops and cafes in Walthamstow Village or a quick hop on the Overground to some of Walthamstow’s best breweries.

Walthamstow has undergone huge regeneration over recent years as many Londoners moved further out of the city in search of cheaper rent and more space. This has led to a massive increase in new businesses from cosy cafes and craft breweries to independent boutiques and quirky restaurants in shipping containers.

Something we love the most about living near Walthamstow is how close we are to Epping Forest; an ancient woodland with walking trails, tranquil ponds, rolling countryside, shaded forest and a variety of wildlife (more on Epping Forest later).

Top Things to do in Walthamstow

Explore god's own junkyard.

We’ll start our Walthamstow guide off with one of the most fun things to do in Walthamstow and one of the best free things to do in London ; exploring a neon playground at God’s Own Junkyard.

God’s Own Junkyard is completely unique. Located in a garage on an industrial estate you may think you’ve wound up in the wrong place but head through the small door behind the multi-coloured cow and an explosion of colour and bright lights awaits you.

Neon signs, old movie props, salvaged signs, retro displays, neon art made from old objects, fairground and circus lighting and renewed waste and lights, it’s safe to say this is undoubtedly one of the most different things to do in Walthamstow.

Vibrant neon signs and lights at God's Own Junkyard, one of the best things to do in Walthamstow, Waltham Forest, London

The late Chris Bracey is the man behind the neon. He had a cult following in London and Los Angeles and created, installed and collected signs that have appeared in many movies including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Johnny Depp and Batman with Jack Nicholson.

Sample the breweries.

One of the most fun things to do in Walthamstow is to sample the numerous breweries the neighbourhood is home to.

With the increase of young professionals moving out to Walthamstow in recent years and the area becoming more ‘hipster’, Walthamstow has seen an increase in breweries and this doesn’t seem to be stopping. Walthamstow is now considered to be one of London’s best beer and brewery spots.

Blackhorse Road is home to 7 breweries ranging from huge beer halls with large outdoor seating areas to grungy garages to shiny upmarket hangouts.

One of the best things to do in Walthamstow, especially on a sunny day with a group of friends, is the Blackhorse Beer Mile where you’ll tick off all 7 breweries between the Lockwood Industrial Estate and Uplands Business Park.

Some of our favourite breweries on the Blackhorse Beer Mile are:

  • Big Penny Social – the largest beer hall on the Beer Mile with industrial bare brick interiors and a huge outdoor terrace perfect for a summer afternoon.
  • Signature Brew – we love the huge outdoor seating area where you can drink amongst the vats. The brewery also hosts regular music events.
  • Exale Brewery – one of the smaller breweries but probably the quirkiest spot on the Blackhorse Beer Mile with a mishmash of furniture and bright colours. The staff are also known for being super friendly.

The exposed brick interior of Big Penny Social which is one of the best things to do in Walthamstow, London

Ravenswood Industrial Estate, where you’ll find God’s Own Junkyard also has a few breweries which are well worth a visit. Pillars Brewery; London’s first craft lager brewery, The Real Al Company; serves a great selection of beers, ciders, wines and cocktails and Wild Card Barrel Store which offers Wild Card beers and delicious pizzas.

Amble through walthamstow village.

Strolling through the pedestrianised street of Walthamstow Village is one of our favourite things to do in Walthamstow.

Independent shops selling vintage knickknacks, plants, art and much more line the street with tables and chairs from the cafes, restaurants and pubs spilling out of the buildings making it feel like you’ve stepped into a quaint European town.

Walthamstow Village is the oldest part of Walthamstow with well-preserved timber-frame buildings dating back to the 12th Century. It’s completely charming and has a welcoming and friendly atmosphere with locals gathering here to catch up and socialise.

Walthamstow Village is one of the best places to visit in Walthamstow on a sunny afternoon browsing the shops, having a coffee at one of the outside street tables at a cafe or soaking up the sun in one of the beer gardens.

Stick around for dinner when you’ll have the choice of authentic tapas and Spanish dishes at Orford Road Tapas Restaurant , a bistro specialising in high-quality local produce at Eat 17 , classic hearty pub grub at The Village , a modern and cosy restaurant with impeccable service at The Kitchen and many more great options.

Stroll Around Walthamstow Wetlands

For nature lovers, those who enjoy a walk or just want to escape some chaotic city life, strolling around Walthamstow Wetlands is one of the best things to do in Walthamstow.

Spanning 211 hectares, the Walthamstow Wetlands are  Europe’s largest urban wetlands and comprise ten interlinking reservoirs which are the main water supply for 3.5 million people.

Walthamstow Wetlands is also an internationally important nature reserve, providing home and shelter to a huge range of wildlife from rare waterfowl to majestic birds of prey.

There are several walking trails which are clearly signposted and very flat. You’ll also find benches and decks over the water where you can sit, reconnect with nature and enjoy the tranquillity of the reservoirs.

You’ll also find a Visitor Centre and The Engine House Cafe at Walthamstow Wetlands with an outside terrace looking over the reserve and London serving a range of drinks, toasted sandwiches and cakes.

Try the Foodie Delights at Lloyd Park Market

One of the best things to do in Walthamstow on a Saturday is to visit the Lloyd Park Market.

Between 10am and 4pm every Saturday, Lloyd Park is home to around 25 market stalls. Priority, where possible, is given to local traders and they’ve created a local trader initiative to enable those with less experience to test their products at the market.

Traders include a variety of street food stalls, seasonal fruit and vegetables, freshly baked bread and pastries, organic farm butchers, ice cream, beers, wines, cheese the list goes on.

Lloyd Park is also lovely for a stroll either before or after visiting the market which can also be visited at the same time as the William Morris Gallery (see below).

Dating back to 1885 and spanning a kilometre, Walthamstow Market is Europe’s longest outdoor street market (this is becoming a bit of a pattern in this East London neighbourhood) and is one of the best things to do in Walthamstow .

The market is open Tuesday to Saturday and packed full of clothes, fresh fruit and veg, street food, homeware, hardware, fishmongers, fabric, international herbs and spices and so much more!

Walthamstow Market has that East London feel and charm with influences from the diverse cultures of the area. Cafes offer treats from all four corners of the world, street food ranges from Caribbean curried goat to cockney pie and mash to jellied eels! You’ll never know what you might stumble upon at Walthamstow Market.

Walk in Epping Forest

One of the best activities in Walthamstow for nature lovers or if you need an outdoorsy fix is to go for a walk in the beautiful Epping Forest.

Epping Forest is an ancient woodland spanning from Manor Park in the south up to Epping in the north. It’s the ideal escape to the city’s hustle and bustle and at over 2,400 hectares, has many walking trails to explore.

Epping Forest is home to wide-open grassland, tranquil ponds and lakes full of wildlife, ancient forest, shaded woodland and the peaceful sounds of nature.

Some of our favourite places in Epping Forest are:

  • Leyton Flats – mostly made up of wide-open grassland and shaded trees to sit under. There are also some serene ponds home to a variety of wildlife.
  • Connaught Water – home to a pretty lake and an abundance of walking trails from a short circular route around the lake’s perimeter to longer trails extending into the surrounding woodland.

Buy Local Produce at Walthamstow Farmer's Market

Walthamstow Farmer’s Market sets up shop in the town centre every Sunday between 10am and 2pm with a focus on community-farmed, seasonally sourced, ethical, organic, bio and free-range produce.

Stalls include a variety of produce such as fresh veg from Ted’s Veg and Wild Country Organics, local honey, artisan bread, locally made fresh pasta by Seriously Italian, Picks Organics meat and poultry and so much more.

Our top tip: take your own bags and food containers as the market is encouraging reduce, reuse and recycle.

Visit CRATE St James Street

CRATE St James Street is a community for creatives, street food pop-ups and retailers housed in shipping containers and is one of the coolest places to visit in Walthamstow.

There’s always something going on at CRATE St James Street whether it’s exercise classes, comedy nights, quizzes, dance lessons, open mic, poetry, you name it, you’ll find something you’ll enjoy to get involved with.

CRATE St James Street is also one of the best places to visit in Walthamstow to meet with friends with a wide range of dining options and a large deck for eating and drinking, even in the winter when it’s heated. There’s a large screen to watch sports, board games to play and it’s even dog-friendly.

Get Competitive at Go Go Golf

Opened in the summer of 2023, Go Go Golf is one of the most fun things to do in Walthamstow and one of the most interesting mini golf courses in London.

Go Go Golf is a 9-hole mini golf course inspired by Waltham Forest’s nature spots including the Walthamstow Wetlands, Epping Forest, Hollow Ponds and Chingford Plains.

Go Go Golf is located in CRATE Walthamstow (see below), they don’t take online reservations and it costs £5 for those aged 13+ and £2.50 for under 12s, making it one of the cheapest mini golf courses in London  and one of the best budget activities in Walthamstow.

Explore Walthamstow Pumphouse Museum

Housed in a Grade II listed building, The Walthamstow Pumphouse Museum is one of the best things to do in Walthamstow to learn about local transport and industrial heritage.

Built in 1885, The Pumphouse is at the heart of the museum and for decades was a pumping station. Today, the building houses the museum’s collection of engines and pumps, of which the most significant is a working pair of original Marshall steam engines from the Victorian era.

The museum is also home to a vast collection of fire-fighting equipment dating back to the 1800s and covering all aspects from fighting fires to bomb disposal during the war. You’ll also see an original Victoria Line tube carriage home to a unique dining experience and one of the best restaurants in Walthamstow; Supperclub Tube.

The museum is open on Sundays between 10:30 and 15:30 and admission is free. Dogs are welcome in most of the areas.

Dine at CRATE Walthamstow

In the summer of 2023, the brains behind CRATE St James Street opened another food hall on the top floor of the 17 & Central Shopping Mall.

With seven street food vendors, the High Street Social craft beer and cocktail bar and a mini golf course (Go Go Golf above), this is one of the best places to visit in Walthamstow to while away a rainy afternoon.

On a sunny day, the outdoor terrace overlooking the Walthamstow Town Square Gardens is a great spot for lunch and a drink.

CRATE Walthamstow is open Monday to Thursday 9am – 9pm, Friday and Saturday 9am – 10:30pm and Sunday 10am – 7pm.

And Traveling the World

Lady’s 7 Things to Do in Walthamstow, London

Walthamstow. Awesomestow. Whatever you call it, this London neighborhood is worth exploring. Which is funny, because I’ve lived in London for over 10 years and haven’t. Until today, when I take the Victoria line to the last stop to see what the excitement is about. I’ve heard there are a lot of things to do in Walthamstow, and I can’t wait to find them.

Things to Do in Walthamstow

Things to Do in Walthamstow

Up in northeast London, Walthamstow has gotten trendy faster than I can say gentrification. Everyone is moving here, visiting here, and setting up shop here these days.

The result is a mix of classic London neighborhood and creative new energy. It’s an exciting place to be, and it’s one of the best places to live in east London .

Ancient House, Walthamstow

1. Browse Walthamstow Market

Getting off the tube at Walthamstow Central, a friend and I find ourselves in the more traditional part of Walthamstow.

Walthamstow Market, which lines the high street, is the longest of its kind in Europe. Its colorful fruits and vegetables brighten up a gray day and set the tone for our visit.

2. Have Lunch on Orford Road

Down Hoe Street we find the newer bits of the area on Orford Road. The village here is home to stylish shops and restaurants patronized by yummy mummies and posh puppies.

We join the crowd for lunch at Eat 17, where giant gnocchi and vegetable curry go down a treat.

3. Explore God’s Own Junkyard

From Orford Road it’s a quick hop to God’s Own Junkyard, the most famous shop in the area and certainly one of the most popular things to do in Walthamstow.

It claims to be the oldest sign maker in London with the largest stock of vintage neon and signs in Europe. And it’s pretty much an electrified feast for the eyes.

4. Take in Walthamstow’s History

On the more subtle end of the spectrum, we head around the corner to the Ancient House in Walthamstow. This 15th-century timber-frame home is just the thing to make us appreciate the neighborhood’s history.

And there’s a lot of it around. Across the street is a graveyard with weathered stones, and down from there are pretty almshouses and a Vestry House museum.

5. Go to the William Morris Gallery

Speaking of museums, Walthamstow is best known for being home to the William Morris Gallery.

Set in Lloyd Park, this Georgian house is full of the work of the Arts and Crafts designer and his family. From rich textiles and wallpapers to interactive exhibits, it’s an inspiring place to get in touch with one’s inner maker.

Llyod Park, Walthamstow

6. Discover Creative Walthamstow

Which is good, because down the road Blackhorse Lane is the epicenter of Walthamstow’s creativity.

In the midst of giant warehouses, small workshops and studios have popped up to bring Londoners everything from hand-made wood works to local honey.

Blackhorse Workshop, Walthamstow

We pop into a couple of them, watching enterprising individuals welding metal and exploring new flavors of food. We catch glimpses of pop-ups on the roadside and colorful murals sprucing up bland walls as we go.

7. Walk in Nature in Walthamstow

And when the sun starts to set, the sky rises to the occasion and puts its best hues on display, too. We beat a path to the nearby wetlands, which along with Epping Forest are some of the neighborhood’s natural highlights.

Best Things to Do in Walthamstow, London

As darkness settles in, we make our way back to the tube while marveling at how much ground we’ve covered in our short time in the area.

I had no idea there were so many amazing things to do in Walthamstow, but now that I do I can see why everyone wants to be here. Including me.

pretty part of London:)

Nice photos. It looks like it has changed since I lived there 15 years ago, I still live in London but never went back there!

Thanks! Yeah, I bet it has changed a lot since you were last there.

I just visited London for the first time (I’m actually posting about it on my blog now) and your post makes me all the more excited to go back again! I will definitely have to add this to my growing list of things to do when I get back across the pond! Great post 🙂

Thanks, Nikki! I hope you get a chance to go next time you’re in London.

Hi Julie! I love the Victorian and brick architecture! Have a great rest of your week! 🙂

Thanks, Mike! I hope you enjoy the rest of your week, too.

Born and raised in the Stow. Left when I was 19 but continued to visit parents and friends there until I moved to America a few years ago. About to move back in a couple of weeks, I’m well excited, thank you!

That’s great! I hope your move goes well.

8 Reasons to Visit Walthamstow

A Neighborhood Guide to Walthamstow's Best Bits

In this regular series, we shine a spotlight on a London neighborhood to uncover its highlights and hidden gems. This week, we travel northeast to Walthamstow to explore its best bits, from its cute village center to its dazzling neon art gallery.

You Can Enjoy Tea and Cake in a Warehouse Filled With Vintage Neon Artwork

In an unassuming warehouse on an industrial estate near Walthamstow Village, God's Own Junkyard showcases a staggering array of vintage neon signs and artwork from the private collection of artist, Chris Bracey. Many of the pieces have featured in films, ad campaigns, and fashion shoots, and they sit alongside fairground and circus lighting and salvaged signs. Refuel with tea, cake or a beer at the Rolling Scones cafe.

It Has a Cute Village Center Lined With Pubs, Shops and Cafes

Centered around Orford Road, Walthamstow Village is a cute enclave home to cafes, boutiques, pubs and restaurants. It sits in a conservation area and the streets are lined with ancient houses, almshouses and churches. Pick up award-winning sausages at the East London Sausage Company and stop for a drink at Eat 17 , a restaurant that serves ethically sourced British fare.

You Can Tuck Into Traditional Grub in a 1920s Pie and Mash Shop

This historic pie and mash shop on Walthamstow High Street has been serving traditional dishes to Londoners since opening in 1929. The beautiful space features original tiles and wooden booths, and the building is protected by English Heritage. Order a meat pie served with liquor (parsley sauce), or try the stewed eels for a true taste of east London.

It's Home to Europe's Longest Street Market

Carl Court / Getty Images

Walthamstow Market is the longest daily outdoor market in Europe and is lined with stalls selling everything from fruit and veg to clothes and household goods. It stretches for just over half a mile on the High Street and dates back to 1885. Foodies flock to the farmers' market in the town square every Sunday.

You Can Sip Craft Beers at a Cool Microbrewery

Just next to God's Own Junkyard, the Wild Card Brewery has been producing acclaimed craft beers since 2014. During the week, they're busy brewing but at the weekend (Friday-Sunday) you can check out the Tap Bar and taste a selection of the brewery's best beers plus bottles from other microbreweries. Wood-fired pizza is often served from the DoughBro food truck in the car park, and small group tours and tastings are available to book in advance.

Its Historic Heart Is Beautifully Preserved

The conservation area around Church End features some delightful buildings and is a former winner of Time Out's 'Best London Village' award. The 'Ancient House' opposite the churchyard dates back to the 15th century, and the almshouses that line Vinegar Alley were founded in 1527. You can trace the neighborhood's history at the Vestry House Museum in a converted 18th-century police station. It's free to visit and features local artifacts from the Victorian era to the 20th century.

You Can Explore One of London's Lesser-Known Galleries

Opened in 1950, the William Morris Gallery is the only public museum that celebrates the life and work of the English Arts and Crafts designer, William Morris. The collection is housed in a charming Georgian building (once home to Morris, his widowed mother and eight siblings) and features some of the artist's finest tapestries, furniture, wallpaper, embroidery, and paintings. It's little known to most Londoners, but it scooped the ArtFund Museum of the Year title in 2013 following a major renovation. The shop stocks a great range of William Morris-inspired homeware, stationery, and gifts, and the cafe serves afternoon tea in an orangery-style room that overlooks Lloyd Park.

This striking Art Deco-style building was built in 1941 following the launch of a design competition in 1929 to create a town hall for the borough. Clad in Portland stone, this architectural gem serves as Walthamstow's civic centre but often opens to the public as part of London's annual Open House event.

12 Best Restaurants in Walthamstow

12 Best Restaurants in Walthamstow

Love This? Save and Share!

Looking for the best restaurants in Walthamstow? Here’s our pick of stellar spots serving up tasty dishes in the capital.

London’s central bubble gets most of the fuss when it comes to places to dine. But head a little bit further out into Walthamstow and you’ll find some excellent places to chow down.

Walthamstow’s foodie scene is sprouting by the day –  the charming Walthamstow Village is a great option for food and less expensive than central London. What’s not to love?

It’s also easily located at the end of the Victoria Line, so although it may look far on a map – it’s really not.

Time to eat!

Best Restaurants in Walthamstow

££

Slowburn

What has to be one of the most original ideas for a restaurant this city can point to, SlowBurn makes its home on the floor of a denim factory. The factory still operates and so the restaurant works around them, opening from Friday to Sunday with a limited number of tables.

You have to work around it too – though it’s all pretty charming. You tuck into your meal, surrounded by  the machines and materials of industry – safe to say they make for a very atmospheric (and rather unusual) backdrop.

The food deserves as much attention as this unique setting. It’s a selection of small plates and bigger mains that focus on vegetables, bringing them to the fore with some very creative cooking techniques. We loved it all, but a special shout out for the Striata aubergine, and monkfish with curried lentils.

Sodo Pizza

££

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Sodo Pizza (@sodopizzalondon)

Sodo Pizza used to be a local secret, but not anymore. This incredible sourdough pizza joint has really made a name for itself, mostly because every single one of their pizzas are so tasty.

They also boast a great natural wine selection matched with a funky interior with exposed brick and industrial feel. It makes for a cosy candle-light atmosphere which we love.

Whatever you order, make sure you get the garlic bread too. It’s so thin and delicious, and no – it’s not too much bread. Also packed with great vegan options, this is one of the best pizza places in the area.

Supperclub.tube

Supperclub Tube

An absolute gem in Walthamstow and by far the most exciting dining experience we’ve come across – you actually get to eat inside an old Victoria London Underground Tube carriage.

You can find the Supperclub.tube in the Walthamstow Pumphouse Museum, only open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night – make sure you book early. This has to be one of the quirkiest dinners in London.

Expect a six-course tasty menu, and may we add, one of the most affordable tasting menus in London. The menu is inspired by South American food and will bring you on an adventure with its cacophony of flavours.

The carriage only seats 35 guests and the price includes a drink on arrival. It’s one of the best date spots in London and definitely something a bit different for those seeking a little bit more fun in their dinners.

The Kitchen

View this post on Instagram A post shared by The Kitchen E17 (@thekitchene17)

The Kitchen is a beautiful restaurant in Walthamstow Village that serves up tasty and comforting European dishes. It might be a small spot, but it’s got exactly the cosy-come-chill vibes you’re looking for for a relaxed evening meal.

It’s quite rare to see jerk chicken, green curries and pan-fried sea bass on the same menu – when we say there’s something for everyone, there really is.

It’s usually pretty busy and they have some space outside where people can enjoy the sunshine, but definitely worth booking in advance.

Orford Saloon Tapas Bar

View this post on Instagram A post shared by orfordsaloon (@orfordsaloon)

Heading to this fun tapas bar is always a good idea. Orford Saloon has been around for a while, and is known for serving up some of the tastiest sharing plates out there.

If you’re looking for authentic paella in London, this is your place. The prices are very reasonable, the food is delicious, and there’s outdoor seating in the summer.

Head there for your garlic prawn and jamon fix, along with the very obvious (and very tasty) paella choice.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by The Collab (@thecollablondon)

Meat eaters, vegetarians, and vegans of the world unite. The Collab is a venture where beer and burgers collide to provide one of East London’s hottest taste sensations.

The list of burgers, wings, meat-free dishes and loaded fries are simply irresistible. We loved the Smash and Grab burger with a side of loaded fries (crispy shallots, pickled onions, chipotle mayo, pickled chillies, coriander and hot sauce) went down a treat.

If you’re not convinced, check out their list of sauces to top your burger and tell us we’re wrong! With a Walthamstow-brewed Signature Brew to wash it down, this is a collaboration we’re firmly behind.

Eat 17 Restaurant

View this post on Instagram A post shared by eat17 (@eat17stores)

In town on a Sunday? Comfort food abound – Eat 17 is the best place to settle in for a sunday roast – not to mention being one of the most popular restaurants in the area.

Mouthwatering meats are served with buttery mashed potatoes and all the trimmings you could possibly want. What’s more, the portions are also very generous – wear your stretchiest trousers and get ready to feast.

Pair that with a lively atmosphere and fair prices and there’s no reason not to give it a visit.

Etles Uyghur Restaurant

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Etles Uyghur Restaurant (@etles.restaurant)

Mind-blowing North Asian cuisine served in a cosy restaurant is exactly what you’ll get from Etles Uyghur. Think tasty kebabs over rice, dumpling soups, bread and stir-fried chicken noodles.

Basically, the menu is packed with all the feel-good comfort food you could possibly crave. We really love their steamed manta dumplings and we have to say, we’re slight dumpling snobs so these have passed some tough criteria.

The restaurant offers real authentic dishes from Xinjiang in Northwest China and are known for their pulled noodles – which are always a must.

Gökyüzü Walthamstow

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Gokyuzu Walthamstow (@gokyuzu_restaurant_walthamstow)

Gökyüzü is one of the best Turkish eateries in the area ( and in London now we come to think of it). The food is flavourful and the seating is spacious.

Get ready to be transported straight to Turkey, with plenty of fresh meats and tasty sides. Do yourself a favour and order the lamb shish – it’s mouthwateringly tender and packed with flavour.

The pomegranate salad is also delicious – they even have a few dishes that are slightly off-piste, but definitely worth a try.

£/££

If street food is your thing, then CRATE is the place to head. Boasting seven street food vendors taking in tastes from Hanoi, Mexico, Florence and Yorkshire, as well as seafood and burgers, whatever your taste, you won’t go without.

Taking its influence from some of the big food halls more centrally, CRATE is a slightly more sedate affair, and definitely less busy. There’s also a great cocktail and craft ale bar with High Street Social, and if you fancy combining friendly competition with your dinner, have a round of the 9-hole Go Go Golf before or after you’ve eaten.

Top recommendations? The Yorkshire burrito is absolutely incredible. A roast dinner wrapped in a huge Yorkshire pudding? Don’t mind if we do!

Rhythm Kitchen

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Rhythm Kitchen (@rhythmkitchenuk)

You can’t visit Walthamstow without being seduced by the stunning smalls of Rhythm Kitchen , a charming and welcoming Caribbean restaurant that serves authentic food and drink that just evokes images of lazy sun-kissed beaches.

Although there’s a branch at Westfield in Stratford, the Walthamstow version is our fave. Not only do they serve all your West Indian faves, including jerk chicken, but the Whole Chicken Feast platter is perfect as a sharer.

The Ragga stew is an incredibly tasty – and mild- vegan option, while the jerked whole fish of the day comes with two sides of your choice. Want something during the day? Experience the unique joy that comes with their Caribbean-flavoured afternoon tea that comes with a rum punch.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Taro Japanese Restaurants (@tarorestaurants)

If you love Japanese food, then Taro have branches throughout London and are well-worth seeking out. The Walthamstow branch is their most recent, in what was formerly the famous L.Manze Pie & Mash Shop.

They’ve thoughtfully retained the original decor, tiles, and seating, which is a lovely touch, albeit a slightly unique one as you expect to get pie, mash, and liquor but are served with ramen, sushi, and bento boxes instead. But, we love it.

The Taro special bento box gives you an idea of everything that makes this such a cool place to eat, we’d also urge you to eat the Unaju, whole grilled eel for a truly authentic taste experience.

Froth & Rind

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Froth & Rind (@froth_and_rind)

Ever dreamed of a place where you could get beer, coffee and cheese all in one place? Here we have it, the Walthamstow Village Gods have delivered Froth & Rind.

We’re not just talking any old cheese, we’re talking some of the very best artisan cheeses from East London. There’s a big difference.

Similarly, the beers are all from local Walthamstow based breweries. Keep it local and keep it tasty. We love a place that doesn’t try and overcomplicate anything, and that’s why it’s perfect.

Peeld Poke & Acai

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Peeld of Walthamstow (@peeld.uk)

It’s no secret that Poke and Acai bowls are taking over the world – and Peeld Poke & Acai is very much at the forefront of the London scene.

A common issue with poke bowls is that there’s just not enough in them – a lot of places seem to stinge out on the fish. Well, not this place. They’re huge.

We recommend going for the tuna one with a little bit of Sriracha mayo on top, it’s one of the tastiest Poke bowls in London.

Bühler and Co

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Buhler and Co (@buhler_and_co)

This small Walthamstow veggie eatery was listed in the Sunday Times list of the 50-best vegetarian restaurants in the UK, and with good reason. Serving breakfast, brunch, and lunch, this is the perfect spot for a leisurely midweek catch-up, or lazy weekend opener.

They do a rocking vegan fry up, and an incredible range of food that takes in the best cuisine from around the world.

For instance, you can go from a vegetarian Bratwurst bap to a Banh mi bagel in an instant. Other delights include Chipotle, feta, and kale baked butter beans served with potato hash and avocado, or the warm and spicy Thai-inspired noodle bowl.

Know before you go

The Engine House and main concrete pathway through the site are accessible for wheelchair users and those with walking difficulties. As a nature reserve the remaining pathways on the wetlands site are dirt track so may be uneven or muddy in places. The Engine House has a platform lift and there are accessible toilets with ramp entry. There are four parking bays available for blue badge holders which are free of charge.

When to visit

Opening times, best time to visit, about the reserve.

Walthamstow Wetlands is a fully operational 211 hectare Thames Water reservoir site which is the main source of water supply for 3.5 million people. Walthamstow Wetlands is also an internationally important nature reserve, providing home and shelter to a wide range of wildlife, from rare waterfowl to majestic birds of prey.

Walthamstow Wetlands contains a range of habitats and experiences, from sheltered dense scrub-lined banks to wide windswept views towards the city. It remains the largest fishery in London. It is part of the Walthamstow Reservoirs Site of Special Scientific Interest, and the Lee Valley Special Protection Area, Ramsar site of international importance, and Lee Valley Walthamstow Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation.

Environmental designation

Visiting walthamstow wetlands, to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience at walthamstow wetlands, please observe the below terms and conditions for all visitors:.

  • The reservoirs supply drinking water to 3.5 million people every day. Thames Water staff on site will do their best to keep out of the way of visitors, but they have an important job to do. This has to take priority and they need your understanding and co-operation as they go about their work.
  • No paddling, swimming or sitting near water's edge.  The water is deep and extremely cold just below the surface, even in summer. There are hidden dangers, including strong currents caused by the need to pump water around, and the banks are steep and slippery. Keep away from the water at all times.
  • No dogs are allowed on site (except assistance dogs) – even the best-behaved dogs can frighten wildlife and disrupt habitats.
  • Do not feed the wildlife , there is plenty of natural food available.
  • Angling  is permitted on site, both for day and seasonal permit holders. To avoid accidents from anglers casting their leads or flies, we ask all visitors to be aware of their surroundings and keep a safe distance.
  • No foraging allowed. The plants (including berries, seeds and wildflowers) and fungi are important sources of food for our wildlife year-round.
  • Cyclists and joggers are welcome but must stay on designated paths.  Most visitors are pedestrians, taking their time to walk round the site, and their needs have priority.
  • Please take your litter home  (or use the bins at each exit) - even the smallest piece of litter spoils other people’s enjoyment of this very special place and can harm wildlife.
  • No BBQs are permitted onsite to avoid the risk of fire.
  • Smoking is prohibited in all buildings.
  • No alcohol is allowed at Walthamstow Wetlands as it is a Thames Water operational site as well as a nature reserve.
  • Parts of the site may need to be closed at any time. This could be when machinery is in use, or to protect nesting birds. Please stay on the marked paths and look out for signs.

The opening of Walthamstow Wetlands has only been possible due to a partnership between  Thames Water , landowner,  London Borough of Waltham Forest , grant holder, and London Wildlife Trust, the conservation delivery partner.

Of the £10.6m required to renovate and prepare the site, £4.47m was generously funded by the  Heritage Lottery Fund , £1.8m from Thames Water and £1.8m from the London Borough of Waltham Forest. We also received £750k from the  Greater London Authority  to support the 2km cycle path through the site.

Yasar’s Kitchen, a Turkish restaurant in Walthamstow, is a neighbourhood stalwart for many occasions. Come early evening, multi-generational gatherings sink into soft, velvet seats for low-key birthday celebrations that require little pre-planning and minimal fuss. They’re joined by solo locals who choose a quiet corner of the dimly lit, cave-like space, and chat with staff between mouthfuls of meltingly soft hummus kavurma. At midnight, the music is louder, the marble-effect tables and neon strip lights feel more clubby, and the bleary-eyed, unsteady-legged descend from the nearby Blackhorse Beer Mile for well-seasoned doners and reviving glasses of Coke until 3am on Saturdays. The food is tasty, satisfying stuff. And, while not one of the best Turkish restaurants in London , Yasar’s is a dependable option if you’re in the area.

Wes Streeting , the shadow health secretary and MP for Ilford North, said the emergency services were responding to a “critical incident” in Hainault.

He advised members of the public to not speculate about what may have happened as details are still emerging of the incident.

A critical incident has been declared in Hainault. There are station and road closures in place. The Police, Ambulance Service and Fire Brigade are responding. One male detained. I would urge people not to speculate until details are confirmed or post footage on social media. — Wes Streeting MP (@wesstreeting) April 30, 2024

The PA news agency has spoken to a man who has described the scene near Hainault station in east London .

Peter Kingdom, 56, an IT analyst from Hainault, said:

As I was walking to the station, I saw an ambulance heading towards the scene and another leaving. The road was blocked either side of the station entrance and all transport in the area was suspended (Tube and buses). There was a helicopter circling the area. I didn’t see the man, just the ambulances, police, etc. I wasn’t concerned at first, but was a bit anxious to get back home after finding out what had happened.

Here is the Redbridge Borough Police’s statement in full. They do not believe there is any “ongoing threat” to the wider community and say they are awaiting an update on the condition of the people injured in the “serious incident”.

The London fire brigade (LFB) said it was called to assist at the incident in Hainault. A 36-year-old man is in custody and police believe the incident is not terrorism-related.

An LFB spokesperson said:

4. Eat 17 restaurant (the best Sunday roast restaurant in Walthamstow)

This modern British Walthamstow restaurant is one of the most renowned spots to eat in Walthamstow village , serving a range of hearty comfort foods such as burgers, fish, curries and steaks.

Eat 17 restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with separate menus for each, but we recommend visiting on a Sunday for their traditional roast dinners as they are absolutely delicious!

Eat 17 owns the SPAR next door too which is one of the best mini supermarkets we’ve ever visited (although it currently has a zero star food hygiene rating as of March 2024). Check out the huge craft beer section and the fresh sushi counter.

Eat 17 restaurant also make their own brand of ‘bacon jam’ which is sold in there, and you can find it in many supermarkets and delis across London.

5. Arte e Pasta

This Italian Walthamstow restaurant is located a short walk from the village and has been a hit with the locals. Arte e Pasta is always packed – most likely because the service here is really amazing and the food is tasty and affordable.

The Arte e Pasta menu has several small sharing plate options, and a handful of main course options. To start we ordered the olive tapanade, salami platter and the ‘Focaccia, Grissini and Taralli’ breads, then followed this with a lobster ravioli main dish each.

The portion sizes were generous and we managed to polish off everything on our plates as the food was so good (the cocktails were excellent too).

Arte e Pasta doubles as a gallery which is managed by Wood Street Walls, who created the fantastic mural on the front of the building.

6. The Kitchen Walthamstow

This small and cosy restaurant in Walthamstow village serves up modern European dishes and has separate brunch and dinner menus.

We visited The Kitchen Walthamstow evening for dinner and it was hard to decide what to eat as every dish sounded amazing – expect to find main courses such as Thai green curry, linguine clams, Jamaican jerk chicken, rib eye steak and pan fried sea bass!

The Kitchen Walthamstow is always a busy spot and their outdoor tables in summer are always packed. Although we’ve only visited The Kitchen Walthamstow on weekdays before, apparently their Sunday joints are one of the best Sunday lunches in Walthamstow too!

2024 update – please note that The Kitchen in Walthamstow was awarded a zero Food Hygiene Rating in January 2023 and it remains unchanged as of April 2024.

7. Peeld (Poke, Acai and Noodle Soup)

This new healthy eating cafe opened in 2021 and is super popular with the locals in Walthamstow Village.

The fresh poke bowls at Peeld are huge and out of this world – we tried a spicy raw tuna bowl which came with mango salsa, carrots, edamame beans and crispy shallots on top of a base of sushi rice and rainbow slaw, drizzled with Sriracha mayo on top.

Peeld (Poke, Acai and Noodle Soup) Walthamstow

In addition, Peeld Poke & Acai offer a range of fresh juices, smoothies, coffees, pastries and acai bowls (a Brazilian thick smoothie bowl loaded with toppings). Plus a recent new addition for the winter months is the introduction of the Tonkotsu and pulled brisket noodle bowl – yum!

Peeld also have a small takeaway stall inside the SPAR supermarket just down the road selling fresh juices and frozen yoghurt bowls.

9. The Collab, Walthamstow

As you’d expect from the name, this is a mash-up between award winning Walthamstow brewery  Signature Brew  and critically acclaimed restaurant  We Serve Humans  (the ‘Best Burger in Britain’ apparently).

The menu has a great range of burgers, chicken wings and sides, with a really good selection of options for vegans.

The Collab, Walthamstow, copyright CK Travels

The food at The Collab can be a bit hit and miss based on our own experience. On our first visit we tried the truffle mac and cheese burger and the buffalo chicken wings which were great, but on our second visit the wings were really soggy.

However the beer and atmosphere at The Collab are great and it is only located a few minutes walk from Walthamstow Central station.

This new burger restaurant in Walthamstow opened this year and has an awesome menu of fast food style American burgers, loaded dirty fries, and sides such as slaw, mac and cheese balls and gravy (yum).

This cosy Spanish tapas bar has been around in Walthamstow village for many years and serves up lots of tasty sharing plates, plus large pans of authentic paella on pretty tiled tables.

12. Homies on Donkeys (closed)

2024 UPDATE: Homies on Donkeys is now permanently closed and has relocated to Leytonstone

Tucked away at the back Walthamstow’s Wood Street Indoor Market, Homies on Donkeys serves Mexican street tacos made from scratch and these are possibly the best tacos we’ve tasted in London (seriously).

Given its local reputation and small interior / limited seating area, there can sometimes be long queues but when the food is this good, the wait is worth it.

Homies on Donkeys, Walthamstow, copyright CK Travels

On our most recent trip, we tried the pulled pork tacos and they were sublime. Vegan / veggie options are also available, and next door to the main stall, they now have a decadently decorated pop up beer fridge and sauce stall.

This tiny veggie cafe was recently listed in the Sunday Times 50 best vegetarian restaurants in the UK and has a lovely brunch menu with dishes such as vegan fry ups, vegan bagels and gado gado (Indonesian salad), plus coffee, fresh juices/smoothies and cocktails.

Prices at Bühler and Co aren’t on the cheap side here but the food quality is excellent and the avocado on sourdough toast was really tasty. There is limited seating inside but there is also a large outdoor area at the back.

2024 UPDATE: Oishī Don are no longer serving food at Tavern on the Hill (nor JamShack) – the Tavern on the Hill kitchen is currently operated by the Dragon Kitchen, pumping out Sunday roasts and burger fare the rest of the week (food served Tuesday to Sunday)

This Walthamstow pub is a new venture from the brains behind the local Wildcard Brewery and has a superb Japanese food menu from Oishi Don (served from Monday-Saturday, 5pm-9pm).

You can expect Japanese classics such as donburi, gyozas and okonomiyaki, plus western dishes with a Japanese twist such as aonori fries and fried chicken tatsuta-age burger. The steak don (pictured) was really delicious and we can’t wait to go back and try some more items off the menu.

CRATE St James Street is a container village with a collection of food and drink outlets, workspaces and shops (a little bit like BOXPARK in Shoreditch ), just a few minutes walk away from St James Street Overground station.

Sharing the same shipping container are two vegan brands – Chickenish and Green Grill , both offering creative plant-based junk food.

Green Grill are popular for their instagrammable burgers with bright red, green and black coloured buns, and also offer vegan seitan hot dawgs, chkn bites, mac n cheeze and kimchi loaded fries.

Chickenish re-creates classic chicken shop dishes and are famous for their soy based chicken drumsticks in a gluten-free batter.

They also serve up chicken bites, burgers and lots of side dishes such as cajun fries, beans, gravy and coleslaw. When I last visited I tried the chicken drumsticks which weren’t really to my taste, but the fries, truffle mayo and vegan gravy were absolutely delicious.

22. Chaiiwala Walthamstow

Head to Hoe Street for one of Walthamstow’s best breakfasts at Chaiiwala. As featured in Time Out London’s ‘top cheap eats’, Chaiiwala has over 40 stores across the UK, specialising in desi food and affectionately referred to as the Indian Starbucks.

Chaaiwala, Walthamstow, copyright CK Travels

We liked our ‘All Day Desi Breakfast’, which consisted of an omelette, spicy beans or dahl, roti and our favourite, karak chai- a strong (and incredibly sweet!) blend of tea, milk, spices and sugar.

Cheap as but given the store is quite compact and often very popular (especially for Deliveroo orders), you may have to wait for a table if you want to sit in at Chaiiwala Walthamstow.

This well-known Japanese ramen chain restaurant recently opened in the Stow with a gorgeous interior decor and a solid menu of noodle soups, katsu curries plus tasty side dishes.

We were in two minds whether to include Tonkotsu Walthamstow on our list as on our most recent visit we ordered the chilli prawn ramen noodle soup which was a bit disappointing (the battered prawns were soggy, and it lacked a spicy punch).

However the chicken kara-age side dish was absolutely divine and we would head back again just to eat that again. We were also the only customers in Tonkotsu Walthamstow at the time but our noodle soup dish took a long 45 minutes to arrive.

28. Turtle Bay Walthamstow

At the time of writing (April 2024), Turtle Bay is the highest rated restaurant in Walthamstow according to Tripadvisor (followed by Gokyuzu Walthamstow).

Whilst we personally wouldn’t say this is the best restaurant in Walthamstow, this Caribbean chain actually produces pretty fine fare at affordable prices and is in a very central location, next to the Vue cinema and Tonkotsu / Five Guys.

Turtle Bay Walthamstow

We tried Turtle Bay Walthamstow to try their brunch menu and really enjoyed the jerk mac and cheese – also popular favourites here include the fish fry, jerk chicken and coconut rice bowls. We also really like the bright interior of Turtle Bay.

If you fancy a bottomless brunch in Walthamstow, Turtle Bay Walthamstow also does 2 hours of unlimited cocktails, prosecco, draft beers, mocktails plus a dish of your choice for just over £30 per person, on Saturdays and Sundays.

31. Lloyd Park Saturday market

Not so much a Walthamstow restaurant but a fine foodie frenzy to kick start your weekend.

Lloyd Park market is a Walthamstow must do on a Saturday morning! This popular outdoor farmers market is located just outside the William Morris Gallery and sells a range of gourmet delights, plus a cracking collection of street food.

Lloyd Park Saturday market, copyright CK Travels

You’ll find several stalls at Lloyd Park Market selling local produce such as fruit and veg, cheese, bread, pastries and meat, as well as a handful of hot food options from popular vendors.

We were unable to find a list of the 2024 vendors online (they change regularly) but in the past when we have visited, there have been stalls such as Crosstown Doughnuts , Sandwiche (Ribeye steak sandwiches), Horn OK Please (Indian dosa), filigrillz (Filipino BBQ street food) and many more.

The market is open from 10am-4pm every Saturday, but we usually head down before 11am when it is quieter, as after that the queues for places such as Crosstown Doughnuts are massive!

32. Pizza at True Craft Walthamstow, St James Street

A true story, this new craft beer bar in Walthamstow is all about fine craft draft and fresh sourdough pizza!

places to visit near walthamstow london

Just a short hop from Crate St James, True Craft Walthamstow is located in a former cafe that has now been transformed into a good looking bar and taproom with delicious pizza smells wafting out the door. Menu highlights include the Walth-Ham-Stow pizza with Prosciutto Crudo, Parmesan and Fresh Basil.

We’ve been to the True Craft beer bar in  Tottenham  many times and it has always been one of our favourite  Tottenham pubs .

We are pleased to report that True Craft Walthamstow retains all the character of the original – if anything, the Walthamstow True Craft is slightly better than the original as it is a bigger space and feels a little more light and airy.

33. Market Cafe (Princess Diana Cafe) Walthamstow

We’re including the Market Cafe on Walthamstow’s High Street more so for its famous Princess Diana decor than its actual dining. Plus it has been at the heart of the ‘Awesomestow’ community for over years, serving up ‘Royally good’ breakfasts, sandwiches, coffees and teas for over 20 years.

Their Princess Diana collection of merchandise (plate, pictures and more) lines the walls and many people drop in here during the weekly Walthamstow Markets – prices are reasonable too.

Address: 151 High Street, London E17 7BX

34. Pizza at The Wild Card Brewery Barrel Store

We’ve been regular visitors to Walthamstow’s Wild Card brewery over the years, particularly their Barrel Store near to God’s Own Junkyard and have often popped in for a pint, accompanying with some street food from their varying line-up of vendors.

Now, Wild Card have invested in a pizza oven (fired up directly next to the indoor bar) meaning you can now enjoy some pepperoni perfection with your pale-ale.

It is enjoyable to sit on the tables outside watching the world go by (and the site is dog friendly too so there are usually a few cute pooches).

Our final best Walthamstow restaurant…

35. monster sushi.

Not far from Walthamstow (technically Chingford we guess but one train stop away), east London has recently welcomed Monster Sushi, hidden above the Rusty Bike Pub.

Perhaps they should consider renaming it ‘Monorail Sushi’ as the way the sushi is delivered to you on a kind of sushi train – cool!

Massive in Japan, this is one of the first sushi conveyor belt restaurants in London (before, we had to make the conveyor belt cheese restaurant in Covent Garden ) and is an epic east London epicurean outpost.

Try chicken karaage, tempura or gyoza for starters but save room for the sushi and sashimi! Double down on dessert with a delicious dorayaki.

A visit to Walthamstow Market wouldn't be complete without a visit to L Manze, one of London's original pie and mash shops dating back to the 1920s. Manze's shop has served up traditional pies with liquor (parsley sauce) ever since and kept the traditional interior and charm within its walls, it's like stepping back in time.
