Adaptive cruise control supplements conventional cruise control with an active vehicle-to-vehicle distance control feature. Designed for use on freeways and express ways, in vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode, your car automatically accelerates or decelerates in order to maintain a preset following distance from the vehicle traveling directly ahead of you.

To activate the system, press the "ON/OFF" button at the end of the stalk on the lower end of the right side of the steering wheel. The radar-ready indicator will appear in the Multi Information Display.

Accelerate or decelerate to your intended speed, then press the stalk down to set it. If you want to go faster, push the stalk upward and hold until you've reached the desired speed and then release it. Or, if you want to slow down, push the stalk down and hold as you decelerate, then release it once you've reached the desired speed.

To cancel cruise control, tap the brakes, pull the stalk towards you or turn the system off with the ON/OFF button.

Adaptive Cruise Control was designed to maintain the preset distance between your car and the car driving in the same lane directly ahead of you.

When it’s active, it automatically adjusts for changes in the speed of the vehicle traveling directly ahead of you in order to maintain the vehicle-to-vehicle distance you set.

In the event that you would like to change the preset distance between vehicles, you can do so by using the radar range button located on the lower right side of the steering wheel. Simply press the button repeatedly to cycle through the ranges available. You'll find them displayed on the Multi Information Display. And finally, you can disable the distance holding feature by pushing the cruise control stalk away and holding it until the indicator disappears and the conventional cruise control indicator lights up.

How To Use Cruise Control Toyota Corolla 2020

Despite how fantastic this feature is, the Toyota Corolla has taken Adaptive Cruise Control one step further. Instead of replacing your standard cruise control, this special function adds an automatic distance control capability that is especially useful on expressways and motorways.

In This Article...

How does a Toyota Corolla cruise control work?

Simply press the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control button for around two seconds to enter standard cruise control. The indicator light will flash to let you know this has happened. Your Toyota vehicle will automatically return to Dynamic Radar Cruise Control once you turn it off.

How does cruise control work?

First, assess the highway’s driving conditions. Inclement weather is not intended for usage with cruise control. When determining whether to use your car’s cruise control, use caution. Before engaging cruise control, especially if it is your first time using the device, make sure there are no impending obstructions.

  • Even if the road appears to be empty, it would be a bad idea to use cruise control in such weather.

Increase your speed. The legal limit for traveling on an interstate is often between 55 and 70 miles per hour. The cruise control speed range is great. Never try to increase the cruise control speed on your car past the speed limit. This is reckless and dangerous.

Turn on cruise control once you’ve reached the appropriate speed. The cruise control system’s buttons are often found on the steering wheel in cars. To prevent an accident, identify these buttons by consulting your owner’s manual when the automobile is not in use.

The mechanism is often activated by pushing a larger button labeled “cruise.”

Set the cruise control after the cruise control system has been turned on. Most likely, this will only involve pressing another steering-wheel button. You can take your foot off the accelerator after you’ve set the cruise control. The vehicle must maintain its speed.

Keep a close eye on the road when operating a vehicle that is being accelerated by a cruise control system. You will need to turn off cruise control before you slow down or stop, which will cause a delay in your reaction time.

Most models either feature additional buttons or let the driver temporarily press the accelerator pedal while in cruise control.

Either hit the corresponding cruise control system button or swiftly press the brake to slow down. Almost all car models automatically deactivate the cruise control as soon as the brake is applied as a safety measure.

When driving on the interstate, using cruise control is a terrific method to manage your speed. By avoiding abrupt accelerations and decelerations, setting your vehicle’s cruise control to a suitable speed will also cut down on fuel use. Be warned that if you are prone to driving fatigue, it is not a good idea to utilize cruise control. Many motorists believe that being able to unwind their legs while driving and not having to pay strict attention to their speed increases the risk of driver tiredness.

Here is a video explaining adaptive cruise control, which is a precursor to autonomous vehicles and is becoming more and more common in new cars every year:

How does the 2020 Toyota Camry’s cruise control work?

Using cruise control when traveling across the country is a terrific function. On order to activate the cruise control in your Toyota Camry, follow these instructions:

  • When you reach your preferred speed, press the set button on the ring’s bottom.
  • Holding the button on the top left of the cruise control will allow you to change the distance between you and the car in front of you.
  • On the right side of the steering wheel, find the cruise control setting.

Can cruise control reduce fuel use?

Yes, generally speaking. Due to its capacity to maintain a constant pace, cruise control can help you become more fuel-efficient and can help you save on gas on average by 714%. In contrast, the constant acceleration and deceleration caused by the driver’s foot on the pedals might use up more gas.

What does the Toyota Corolla’s cruise control do?

Adaptive Cruise Control for Toyota To keep a safe distance from the car in front, this technology automatically regulates the vehicle’s speed.

How does cruise control mode work?

The use of cruise control can lessen the amount of weariness that long-distance drivers could experience. The system mimics how human drivers operate their vehicles. However, it employs an actuator to operate the throttle instead of the accelerator pedal, allowing your automobile to maintain the same speed when travelling.

When is cruise control inappropriate to use?

Even though modern vehicles have numerous safety measures, it’s still crucial to understand when to avoid using the cruise control. This is due to the fact that cruise controlyes, even ACCis solely intended for long-distance travel on an interstate or other major roadway.

Avoid using cruise control when:

  • when you come upon curvy roadways. Last but not least, if you’re on a curving road, you should never utilize cruise control. This is so you can maneuver corners and curves safely and manually, as maintaining a steady acceleration could result in a loss of control.
  • when you’re operating a vehicle in a city or town. As we’ve previously stated, cruise control is only designed for one scenario. There are many unpredictable bikers, pedestrians, and other roadblocks in the city that aren’t present on the interstate. Additionally, cruise control cannot be used below a particular speed in most cars, making it hard to utilize it at city speeds.
  • when there is a lot of traffic. Like in the city, there is still a good chance of traffic if you are on the interstate. You must turn off your cruise control whenever the flow of traffic slows down so that you may manually regulate your speed and use the brakes as necessary.
  • when you are sleepy The distinction between cruise control and autopilot is one of the most crucial things to keep in mind. In most cars, cruise control does not operate the brakes or the steering of the vehicle. You might not be able to dodge a hazard on the road in time if you’re drowsy and your reaction times are slow.
  • when the weather is slick or damp outside. Never use cruise control on slick surfaces, even if your car has functions like ACC or traction control. This is because utilizing cruise control while driving in slick weather may cause your wheels to spin more quickly than they should, which could lead to hydroplaning or shorter stopping distances.

After talking about when to avoid using cruise control, let’s examine when it’s okay to use cruise control.

Is it acceptable to always utilize the cruise control?

Cruise control is not intended to be utilized every time you are behind the wheel, even while it offers advantages and is more common than ever in cars today. If you use it improperly, you risk endangering yourself or others on the road. To ensure that you always sail securely, we at Diamond Glass have put together the following advice.

In dangerous weather, never use the cruise control.

If you plan to drive on slick or icy roads, you should avoid using a feature that will keep your car moving at a specific pace until it is deactivated. Even if you believe the roads in the area where you are traveling are in good condition, it may be better to avoid using cruise control if bad weather is predicted.

Don’t go faster than the speed limit.

It is exceedingly risky to set your cruise control for a speed that is higher than the speed limit permitted in your region. The typical interstate speed limit is from 55 to 70 miles per hour. Simply because it is safer and there won’t be any traffic violations, this range is advised when utilizing this feature.

Learn how to use the controls and what they do.

Even though cruise control may seem like a standard function, different automobile makes and models may have distinct controls. It doesn’t follow that a function will operate the same way in every car just because you are accustomed with it in one. To prevent any serious mishaps, take the time to become familiar with the controls in a secure area before you travel on the highway.

Avoid using the feature when there is a lot of traffic.

If you’ve never used cruise control before, avoid using it during rush hour or in other situations where there is a lot of stop-and-go traffic. The function is useful for long routes with minimal stops, but it’s not a good choice if you frequently slam on the brakes at intersections.

Be focused and aware.

You still need to be aware and concentrated even if the purpose of cruise control is to let the driver unwind and let their foot off the gas pedal for a bit. When you are fatigued or have been driving for a while, you shouldn’t utilize the feature. Additionally, you might want to completely avoid utilizing the feature if you frequently experience driving tiredness.

On a Toyota Corolla, how do you deactivate the cruise control?

In a Toyota Corolla, deactivating the cruise control often involves using the brake pedal or finding the cruise control lever and activating the on/off button at the end of the lever.

Push and hold the lever away from you while your cruise control is turned on if your Toyota Corolla is equipped with adaptive cruise control; release when the adaptive cruise control indicator is replaced with the conventional cruise control indicator light.

How fast should you set the cruise control?

Even if you elect to utilize cruise control because you believe the road conditions are adequate, you still have a duty to pay attention to the road. Some people believe that using cruise control gives them the freedom of an autopilot, allowing them to do whatever they want. This is untrue, and carelessness might result in mishaps.

Learn how your cruise control works before you start driving. Learn how to turn it off in addition to turning it on. Some cruise controls feature distinct controls, while others have a single button for both stops and starts.

Before turning on cruise control, get to a safe speed. If the speed is too low, many cars won’t even use cruise control. Only use the adjustment controls to make necessary modifications while traveling at the designated speed after building up to it. Between 55 and 70 mph is when cruise control is most useful for keeping your car fuel-efficient.

Make careful you keep an eye on the road. Even in perfect circumstances, other vehicles might drive too close to you or make errors. It’s crucial to pay attention to traffic and road conditions so that you can respond as necessary because using cruise control increases your risk of becoming drowsy.

Although using cruise control improperly can make it risky, it is not necessarily dangerous. Accidents and damage can result from using cruise control improperly or when distracted. Regardless of whether you were using cruise control at the time of the collision, speaking with a lawyer will help you better understand your legal alternatives.

Make sure you’re traveling at the intended speed before pressing the “ON” button on the steering wheel to engage cruise control. After it’s turned on, you can use the “SET” button to select the preferred speed.

Cruise control improves fuel efficiency and lessens driver fatigue on lengthy trips by allowing you to maintain a steady speed without constantly depressing the gas pedal.

When cruise control is engaged, you can change the selected speed by pressing the “+” or “-” buttons on the steering wheel.

Adaptive cruise control, which can automatically adjust your speed to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, is available on some 2023 Corolla trim levels.

Adaptive cruise control measures the gap between your car and the moving vehicle ahead of it using sensors. It automatically modifies your speed, accelerating or decelerating as necessary, to keep a safe following distance.

The ideal places to use cruise control are wide open spaces with little traffic and pleasant weather. It is not advised to use it when there is a lot of traffic or ice on the road.

Certainly, you can take manual control of your car’s speed again by disengaging cruise control by applying the brakes or engaging the clutch.

The 2023 Corolla’s cruise control system usually works at speeds higher than 25 mph (40 km/h).

Yes, you can turn off cruise control by pressing the steering wheel’s “OFF” button.

Yes, even when traveling uphill or downhill, the Corolla’s cruise control system can adjust the throttle to maintain a predetermined speed.

The top speed of the car is often the maximum speed for cruise control, but for precise information, it’s best to consult the handbook for that particular model.

Cruise control is applicable to Corollas with manual transmissions; it normally engages when the car is in the proper gear and speed range.

By avoiding needless acceleration and deceleration, cruise control can improve fuel efficiency when used regularly at a steady speed.

Yes, you can get back to the previous speed you set by pressing the “RES” (resume) button after turning off the cruise control.

Indeed, the cruise control system is made with safety in mind. It has features like adaptive cruise control and speed adjustments to keep the driving environment safe.

2010 Corolla LE Cruise Control Question

  • Thread starter Fred_G
  • Start date Apr 4, 2020

Howdy, I searched the Google and on the forums and am unclear. Does anyone know if the 2010 Corolla LE is prewired for CC? Needing only the switch to enable it, or does it require more parts? Thanks.

Most are. My 2009 was. go here; http://www.rostra.com/custom-drive-by-wire-aftermarket-cruise-control-by-rostra.php Go over to 250-1836 then click on Form#5156 and scroll down to the Corolla section. I used this info to help install mine. I got a used stalk which plugged right in, I just needed to re-do a ground connection in the steering wheel. Note: the cruise stalk is not Corolla specific, the same one is used in multiple vehicles.

Thanks a lot. Will check around for used CC control locally, or order online.

And it does not have it. There was no open 4 prong plug for the cruise control to plug into. There was a 3 pin the horn ground was on, but it would not work on that. Actually, it could be my installation or a bad cruise switch? It does have the Cruise icon on the cluster next to the speedometer.

It's been awhile since I did mine but I do remember having to re-do the ground wire because it couldn't plug back in to the original spot. I think because that's where the cruise plug went. Did you take a pic by chance?

I looked over the instructions again (Including Toyota ones, about the same, http://toyotaparts.sparkstoyota.com/install/00016-01208inst.pdf ) and they all say to ensure ground is plugged back in. Just wondering, did you verify the ECM has a wire in the proper spot? My cruise just started acting up. I ordered another switch, could possibly being changing it out next weekend. Whenever I do I'll get some pics as well as find out what I did with the ground wire. I'm thinking ground is most likely problem.

The cruise control wire has 2 wires in the bottom 2 slots of the 4 pin plug. the upper left was where the horn ground was in. The horn ground was also a 4 pin plug, with only the upper left being used. (Cruise only has wires on bottom 2).

That sounds like what I remember mine had. When I looked at instructions again both Rostra (figure 17) and Toyota (figure 9) show 3 wires being used at the plug. I'm pretty sure I cut the 'plug' off the ground, extended the wire and put a grounding lug on it. Don't remember where I attached it but guessing one of the phillips screws that show in your pic. I.m thinking without the wire connected there is no ground going to the switch.

Or if you have the right tool you could try popping the ground wire out of its connector and putting it in the proper spot of the cruise connector. I don't have a tool for that and didn't want to chance wrecking a connector.

Thanks, that is exactly how mine looks. Going to try the CC switch again. Guessing maybe a bad switch? Bought mine on E-Bay. I need to find an adapter like the one you have for the horn ground. I cut the wire off the horn ground a bit too short to re attach (DOH!), thinking it would ground off one of the phillips head screws, but no luck on the horn. I am sure I can get the horn grounded, but that adapter would be the way to go. Thanks for the pictures, appreciate the help.

I found the bag it came in. Got it from Toyota years ago. 00016-01208-02 but it doesn't show as available any more. It looks a lot like the wiring kit that comes with the Rostra set up. Maybe they would sell it by itself. I also looked at a couple Toyota parts sites and some of their cruise harness look like they might have the ground wire with it. Might be worth checking into.

Thanks! After some work, I got the pin in the connector. Horn works, no cruise... guessing bad switch!?

Most likely. You did check for ECM wire correct?

ECM wire? Nope.

Some Corollas didn't have it. I have seen different lists to check by VIN but they are not always right. Both instruction sheets show how to check . Look at Cruise ECM harness step. I would make sure it's there before replacing any parts.

Well, I appreciate the help, I am stuck at this: "RELEASE CONNECTOR FROM THE ECM AND REMOVE THE PLASTIC COVER ". Can't get the cover off. At the point where I might break something so will get my friend at work to look at it in the AM. I agree with checking the harness. I tend to ignore simple things when problem solving.

Nothing wrong with being safe. I would hate to break that connector. I think the release 'lever' has to be fully rotated to almost a vertical position. Just keep being patient and careful.

I got the connector off, just cant get the plastic cover off... My boss also has a Mercedes shop, so will get them to look at it. I am sure it is a simple thing I just can't figure out. Always better to wait than break something.

Sure looks like it's missing.

Yup. Just my luck. LOL

If you mean running the wire through the firewall there is a grommet to the left of the brake booster (when looking from front of car ). My car already had a wire harness running through it but also 2 smaller holes in it. I ran some wires through one of these holes. You can take a metal coat hangar (or something similar) cut the 'hook' part off, then straighten it out. Gently push the end through the grommet. Check from inside to make sure there are no issues, them tape the ecm wire to it. It might be easier to pull it out to do it. Push through the grommet to get wire through and untape it and remove the hangar. Don't go crazy with the tape. I learned this years ago doing car alarms and stereos. The key is be careful and gentle doing it. If it doesn't feel right back off and try again, don't get frustrated and get all macho man and jam it through.

Thanks, I had issues with it... Pretty sure I found out where it plugs into in the steering column, no luck with the wire, got frustrated, and stopped before I broke anything... Got part of it done anyway.

Not sure but I think I would leave it as it is since there is a wire there.

Well, no luck. Got the wire from the ECM plugged in, retention clip back, started the car, no cruise. Just my dang luck. Any way to test a switch? Or possibly this car needs the cruise switch with the extra ground wire?

No idea how to test the switch. I had my first one go bad but it still turned the cruise light on. Both switches I installed only had 2 wires to the cruise switch.

Well, it was under $20, so will probably try another one. Easiest part to replace.. Got one ordered.

True. Any good friends have a Toyota? Could try a quick swap out.

Would be a good idea. Part is under $20, so I ordered another. Should eliminate one issue anyway. Don't think even with my luck I would get two bad switches...

Well, seems I am not essential Tuesday, but I told my boss the cruise did not work, and he said bring it by and see if it is throwing any codes.. Doh, did not think of that! In addition to where I work, my boss has an import car repair shop. So, will see if that answers any questions.

Well, still no luck. I tried the new cruise switch, still does not work. Wire is run from ECM to the proper plug, I am lost. The only thing I can think of is the ground wire for the horn is not connected anymore. It was connected to a plug that goes where the cruise plugs in. I tried running a wire to the correct pin on the cruise plug, no horn no cruise. They did check it on the computer, said something about cruise not available on this ECM?? Not sure if that was just because it is not turned on or what.

Damn, I really thought running the wire to the ECM was all that was needed. Can't think of anything else.

2010 Toyota Corolla Le Cruise control stopped working

  • Add to quote

My Corolla has a automatic transmission. The cruise stopped working but when I turned the wheel 90 degrees left it would turn on the cruise light with the car sitting still. But going down the road still no cruise to set with wheel straight. I replaced the clock spring and then no lights at all. I then replaced the switch for the cruise. Still no cruise working. I used a clock spring from Rock auto parts part no. ULTRA-POWER 525405. could be my problem even though it says it is the right part for my car. I would like any feed back from anyone that had the same problem. Thank you Joe. [email protected] My local library does not have any real information for reference. I am a retired automotive tech. and can understand most conversations. No codes are set in the ecm. Really its like the system is not powered up to work. Thank you.

toyota corolla le cruise control

Rock auto is pretty good, but sometimes you just get what you pay for.

Everything I have purchased from Dorman to any brand I have had to return. Aftermarket parts is a waste of time. I purchased from toyota a new clock spring and am looking forward to installation. After talking with the parts department The year and model I purchased cruise control was a standard feature. Aftermarket states no cruise control.. Good luck.

Keep us updated please.

Right along from the beginning I have used a toyota number cross referenced to aftermaket suppliers. None of their parts worked correctly making me think I made a bad diagnosis. But I always returned to same diagnosis and three different suppliers and and none work properly. I found a toyota dealer in Battlecreek Michigan that if you purchased the part online it was much cheaper. The part after taxes but with free shipping they offered online with a code I paid less than 150. I installed the part and all is well and perfect operation. I still used the part number I had from the beginning and all works perfectly. This could have been done a month ago, but believing aftermarket would work was the problem. Don't waste your time when it comes to a clock spring. Do not do the youtube cutting into wires. Toyota part only is what it takes. Everyone have a good day.

Well there is more to the story. I am the one who does the thinking and diagnosising. It is my youngest son who does the work under my direction. I am not able to work on anything any more due to reduced physical abilities. I thank god for giving me a son who has more mechanical aptitude than I ever had. When I was a young man he never left my side and watched all I did. I am thankful that even today he does not leave my side. I am lucky and proud of him.

toyota corolla le cruise control

The internal wiring was probably done poorly and broke away causing the cruise control to stop working. What’s the price difference between the one you bought and the oem?

The one from toyota was less than 150 shipping included. The Dorman was 250 and didn't work. Purchased from Sunshine toyota in Battlecreek, Mi. for the toyota one.

Toyota Crown Brings Even More Premium Style and Technology for 2025

Toyota Crown Brings Even More Premium Style and Technology for 2025

  • 2025 Toyota Crown Nightshade features Stylish New Black Accents
  • New Nightshade Grade Available in Storm Cloud and Black
  • Hybrid Powertrain Standard with Choice of Hybrid MAX or Toyota Hybrid System
  • Hybrid MAX combines a 2.4-L Turbo Hybrid Engine with Rear eAxle for 340 HP and 400 lb-ft. of Torque
  • Heated Steering Wheel and Heated and Ventilated Front Seats Standard Across All Grades
  • Head-up Display Now Standard Exclusively on Platinum Grade

PLANO, Texas (April 30, 2024) – Heating things up for 2025, the Toyota Crown is adding a new Nightshade Edition to the Crown sedan lineup. Featuring new dark badging, black handles, and 21-inch 10-spoke wheels with matte-black finish, the Toyota Crown is sure to turn heads. Built off the Limited grade, the Nightshade Edition adds a bold and striking contrast to the lineup.

The 2025 Toyota Crown is available in four different grades: XLE, Limited, Nightshade and Platinum. Exclusively available in All-Wheel Drive, customers can choose between two different hybrid powertrains: the Toyota Hybrid System (THS) or the powerful Hybrid MAX – available only on the Platinum grade. Hybrid MAX is Toyota’s performance hybrid that has 340 net combined horsepower and a net 400 lb-ft. of torque. The system pairs front and rear electric motors with a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine and direct-shift 6-speed automatic transmission. Hybrid MAX produces powerful torque at low RPM for sporty, exhilarating driving and has an EPA-estimated 30 MPG combined city/highway fuel economy rating.

The XLE, Limited and Nightshade grades are equipped with THS that pairs front and rear electric motors with a 2.5-liter engine. This highly efficient hybrid system has an EPA-estimated 41 MPG combined city/highway rating. The system’s nickel-metal hydride battery output supports responsive acceleration at low speeds and provide a satisfying driving feel.

All-Wheel Drive   The XLE, Limited and Nightshade grades come standard with Toyota’s Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive and the Platinum grade comes with Full-Time Electronic All-Wheel Drive, two highly efficient systems that take maximum advantage of the hybrid powertrain’s benefits.

Instead of using a transfer case and driveshaft to the rear wheels, Electronic On-Demand AWD on the XLE, Limited and Nightshade grades employs a separate rear-mounted electric motor to power the rear wheels when needed. Electronic On-Demand AWD achieves stable performance by driving the rear wheels with a rear motor, to provide traction when needed in slippery conditions. The front and rear wheel driving force distribution is controlled to the front and rear wheels between 100:0 and 20:80, for enhanced fuel efficiency and comfortable driving performance.

On the Platinum grade, Full-Time Electronic AWD paired with the Hybrid MAX performance hybrid system delivers power to the front and rear wheels via a front-mounted hybrid motor and a rear-mounted, eAxle electric motor. This system supports stable AWD performance and satisfying acceleration thanks to being paired with a direct shift six-speed automatic transmission.   Full-Time Electronic All-Wheel Drive adjusts between a 70:30 and 20:80 front- and rear-wheel power split, depending on the driving situation. This new AWD system enhances the drive force of the rear wheels and provides the feel of rear-wheel-drive maneuverability, straight line stability and responsive acceleration.

Drive Performance   While the Toyota Crown lift-up sedan’s overall height stands above other Toyota sedans at 60.6-in., Toyota engineers wanted to ensure confident handling and a great driving performance.

A combination of lightweight, high-strength materials, like a ring frame structure, a combination of plate spot and laser welds on the body, and the use of structural adhesive support rigidity. The steering gearbox is mounted directly to the suspension member for a direct steering feel that minimizes line correction. And aero-stabilizing underbody panels with a “stepped” texture help control airflow under the car, supporting downforce for a firmly planted ride.

To help keep the driver and passenger sight lines stable, Toyota Crown’s suspension consists of a MacPherson strut in the front and a multilink rear suspension in the rear. Swing valve shock absorbers are equipped on the Nightshade, Limited and XLE grades, and an Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) comes standard on the Platinum grade. Each option is intended to give Crown a smooth ride that helps minimize head movement.

toyota corolla le cruise control

The Platinum grade’s Adaptive Variable Suspension components have been tuned to support the high output of the 2.4-liter Turbo Hybrid Engine and eAxle. The AVS uses variable oil pressure shock absorbers. This system automatically controls the friction within the absorber when turning, controlling the damping force, reducing pitch at high drive torque and helping minimize the effects of bumpy roads. A linear solenoid type actuator is also equipped on the system to help minimize body pitch and roll. AVS tuning also changes based on the selected drive mode of NORMAL, ECO, SPORT, SPORT+, COMFORT or CUSTOM, adjusting the damping force and balancing steering response, stability control and ride comfort.

To help reduce vibrations felt by the drivers and passengers, suspension tuning uses a soft suspension bushing and a dynamic damper on the front suspension. Polyurethane-coated coil springs in the front help provide a smooth ride and high-damping structural adhesive on the body and reinforced seat mounting points reduces shake generated by the road.

Toyota Crown’s handling is bolstered by an electronically controlled brake system featuring Active Cornering Assist (ACA), which engages the stability control to reduce understeer in certain cornering situations, so the driver feels the enhanced agility, not the system’s operation.

toyota corolla le cruise control

Dignified Design   Built with master craftsmanship, the Toyota Crown redefines what it means to be a sedan in today’s market. Sitting on standard 19-inch or available 21-inch wheels, the Toyota Crown provides an elevated stance and helps drivers get a clear view of the road. The height of the vehicle elevates the vehicle’s hip point, the pivot point between the torso and upper legs, measuring at about 25-inches and enables easy vehicle entry and exit.

The dynamic body style is amplified by rounded and sweeping character lines which give it a head-turning look. Toyota’s signature hammerhead front facia with daylight running lights located at the front tip adds to the Toyota Crown’s alluring and dignified appearance. On the inside, its spacious cabin has a premium feel that offers unique color combinations and standard leather-trimmed seating. There is also a full digital display, piano key controls, vertical wireless charging port and the latest Toyota Audio Multimedia system with available 11-speaker JBL® Premium Audio system.

Available colors include Black, Oxygen White, Bronze Age, Heavy Metal, Supersonic Red and Storm Cloud. A unique bi-tone paint is available on the Platinum grade, pairing black paint that extends from tip to tail, with a pairing choice of Oxygen White, Heavy Metal, Supersonic Red, and Bronze Age.

Luxury-Feel Cabin   The Toyota Crown provides a luxury feel with a standard heated steering wheel and illuminated entry. Exceptional comfort is offered with standard 8-way power adjustable driver and front passenger seats. Front seat adjustments include slide, recline, tilt, height adjust, and lumbar support (driver seat only). Rear seats include ample cushioning and bolster support for maximum enjoyment.

The Toyota Crown comes with standard heated and ventilated front seats that can be adjusted to three levels as well as heated rear seats. The seats offer comfort and style, with leather-trimmed seats now standard on all grades.

Dual-zone climate control, standard for all grades, is accessed via a thin illuminated control panel that runs along the dashboard, just below the multimedia screen, along with other frequently used functions. All Toyota Crown grades also have a 12.3-inch color digital gauge cluster with selectable gauges. Drivers can select different displays with the push of a button, including a Hybrid System Indicator showing the driver system output and regeneration status to encourage eco-driving habits. As used on other Toyota hybrid models, the display suggests optimal amounts of acceleration for eco driving.

Toyota Crown Platinum, Nightshade, and Limited grades include a standard fixed panoramic moonroof. For added function and ambience, in-cabin LED lighting adds a premium feel. Illumination includes overhead and front/rear footwell lighting, cup holders, USB ports and door handle accents.

Toyota Crown has drivers and passengers plugged in when it comes to charging devices. On the driver’s side, a vertical-type wireless Qi charger with enhanced space efficiency comes standard. There is also a standard USB-C and 12V charging port inside the console. A separate dual USB-Type C terminal is also standard on the passenger side, with the insertion port intentionally pointing to the passenger seat. For rear seat passengers, two USB-Type C ports are standard.

To aid outward visibility, the Platinum grade comes standard with Panoramic View Monitor, which provides a 360-degree overhead view of the vehicle’s surroundings. The Panoramic View Monitor is available as part of the Advanced Tech Package on the Limited grade. The standard backup camera features projected path and dynamic gridlines. For additional convenience, Limited, Nightshade and Platinum come standard with a Smart Key System that works on all four doors and trunk. Exclusive to the Platinum grade, drivers will have a Head-Up Display that shares important information like speed and warning indicators as well as a power tilt and telescopic steering wheel.

Intuitive Technology   All Toyota Crown models feature the Toyota Audio Multimedia system. With an available 12.3-inch touchscreen, the system offers a wide range of connectivity and convenience features, including Over-the-Air (OTA) updates. Users can interact with the system through touch and voice activation. With Intelligent Assistant available through an active Drive Connect* trial or subscription, simple phrases like “Hey Toyota” awakens the system for voice-activated commands to search for directions, find Points of Interest (POI), adjust audio controls, change the cabin temperatures and more. One-year trial included.

The XLE grade features a 6-speaker sound system that provides clean, powerful sound for all types of music. On Limited, Nightshade, and Platinum, standard is an audiophile-worthy JBL® Premium Audio System with 11 speakers, including a rear subwoofer, powered by an 8-channel amplifier. It was acoustically tuned for Toyota Crown to match unique vehicle characteristics.

Toyota Audio Multimedia allows for simultaneous dual Bluetooth® phone connectivity with support for wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ capability. An active Wi-Fi Connect* trial or subscription offers 4G connectivity for up to five devices. Adding to the already robust offering of audio playback ability with HD Radio, USB data and a SiriusXM® 3-month trial subscription, Wi-Fi Connect also enables the Integrated Streaming feature, providing the ability to link your separate Apple Music® and Amazon Music subscriptions to the vehicle for onboard control. 30 day/3 GB trial included.

The Toyota Crown also offers a host of additional Connected Services. A Safety Connect* trial of up to 10 years   includes an Emergency Assistance Button (SOS), 24/7 Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification and Stolen Vehicle Locator. A Service Connect* trial   of up to 10 years provides drivers with the capability of receiving Vehicle Health Reports, Maintenance Alerts and reminders.

All grades include a 1-year trial for Remote Connect*. With an active Remote Connect trial or subscription, a Digital Key is standard on the Platinum grade and available as part of a 1-year trial with the Advanced Technology package on the Limited and Nightshade grades. If equipped, Digital Key allows for driver access via the Toyota app to unlock the doors and trunk or start the vehicle using a smartphone as a key. Digital Key also provides the ability to share keys with friends and family.

* 4G Network-dependent.

Safety & Convenience   The Toyota Crown comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. The suite includes:

  • Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection:  Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD) is designed to help detect a vehicle, pedestrian, bicyclist, or motorcyclist and provide an audible/visual forward-collision warning under certain circumstances. If you don’t react, the system is designed to provide automatic emergency braking.
  • Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control:  Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) is an adaptive cruise control system that is designed to be set at speeds above 20 mph. DRCC uses vehicle-to-vehicle distance control to help maintain a preset distance from the vehicle ahead of you.
  • Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist:  Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA) detects lane markings or the road’s edge at speeds above 30 mph. • Automatic High Beams:  Automatic High Beams (AHB) is designed to detect headlights of oncoming vehicles and taillights of preceding vehicles. AHB automatically toggles between high and low beams as appropriate.
  • Proactive Driving Assist:  Proactive Driving Assist (PDA) uses the vehicle’s camera and radar, when system operating conditions are met, to provide gentle braking and/or steering to support driving tasks such as distance control between your vehicle and a preceding vehicle, pedestrian, or bicyclist. PDA can also provide gentle braking into curves.

For complete details on Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, please visit   Toyota.com/safety-sense .

In addition to the TSS 3.0 system, standard convenience features on the Crown include Blind Spot Monitor, which is designed to help detect and warn you of vehicles approaching or positioned in the adjacent lanes, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert for added peace of mind by helping to detect vehicles approaching from either side while backing out and alerting you with a visual and audible warning.  Safe Exit Alert is standard across all trims. This system detects an approaching vehicle or bicycle that may collide with a door if it were to be opened, reducing the possibility of a collision.

Standard on the Platinum grade is Toyota’s Advanced Park system. Sensors can identify an open parking space, then once selected by the driver, the system controls steering, shifting, acceleration and braking for hands-free parallel or reverse/forward perpendicular parking. Traffic Jam Assist capability**, Front Cross-Traffic Alert and Lane Change Assist also come standard on the Platinum grade and are available through the Advanced Tech package on the Limited grade.

Toyota’s Rear Seat Reminder comes standard on all Toyota Crown grades. The feature can note whether a rear door was opened after the vehicle has been turned on, with a reminder message in the instrument cluster after the engine is turned off, accompanied by multitone chimes.

** Traffic Jam Assist Requires an active Drive Connect trial or subscription and is 4G network dependent. For details please visit  https://www.toyota.com/connected-services/
