2023 Barracuda Championship prize money payouts at Old Greenwood

It seemed like Akshay Bhatia was primed to break through on the PGA Tour and Sunday evening, he finally did.

Bhatia claimed the 2023 Barracuda Championship, the final opposite-field event of the PGA Tour season, in a playoff. The tournament is the only one on Tour to use the Modified Stableford scoring system, so the more points the better in this event.

The first-place check at Tahoe Mountain Club’s Old Greenwood course in Truckee, California, was $684,000.

Take a closer look at the full prize money payouts from the 2023 Barracuda Championship.

2024 liv golf singapore preview, how to watch, 2024 pga championship odds, picks, best bets, field, billy horschel goes to dominican republic. he returns a pga tour winner again.

PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic (AP) Billy Horschel went to the Dominican Republic for the first time in search of momentum and came away with a PGA Tour victory he sorely needed Sunday.

Horschel ran off four straight birdies on the front nine to get in the mix, began to pull away with an eagle on the par-5 12th hole and closed with a 9-under 63 for a two-shot victory in the Corales Puntacana Championship.

“This game of golf is so fickle,” Horschel said. “You can put a lot into it and not get everything you want out of it. I knew ... I had the ability, I had the talent. I had to continue to believe the good stuff was going to come to the forefront.”

Horschel, who started the final round three shots behind, all but sealed it with an 18-foot birdie putt on the 16th hole.

Wesley Bryan, trying to go wire-to-wire, was bogey-free with four birdies and still only one shot behind late in the round. But right after Horschel made his final birdie, Bryan missed a par par putt from just outside 2 feet and fell three behind.

Bryan birdied the 18th for a 68 and was runner-up, which will get him into the AT&T Byron Nelson in two weeks. He was playing on a sponsor exemption. Kevin Tway shot 69 and finished third.

Horschel finished at 23-under 265 and earned $720,000.

He won for the eighth time on the PGA Tour and the first time in nearly two years. This gets him into the PGA Championship next month, and he likely will be in the next $20 million signature event at the Wells Fargo Championship.

Those are the tournaments Horschel, a former FedEx Cup champion, was used to playing. The opposite-field events are seen as a chance for younger players to get their first win. In the case of Horschel, it was crucial to get some confidence back.

He delivered one of his best closing rounds when he needed it - the four straight birdies starting on the par-3 second hole, a 31 on the front nine, the eagle on No. 12 to seize control and no bogeys over the last 30 holes of the tournament.

It was nearly a year ago at the Memorial that Horschel, the defending champion at Muirfield Village, shot 84 and was near tears talking about how low his confidence had fallen. He missed the FedEx Cup playoffs for the first time since 2012.

He had shown signs this year with a pair of top 10s, and now has a victory for validation. Along with getting into the PGA Championship at Valhalla, he is assured of starting next year at Kapalua in The Sentry.

And the winner was Billy Horschel , who now has eight wins in his PGA Tour career. The second opposite-field event also had 300 FedEx Cup points on the line for the victor.

Horschel goes over the $36 million mark in career earnings in his 333rd start.

Wesley Bryan pocketed $436,00 for his solo second. Kevin Tway banked $276,000 for his solo third.

A win is a win on the PGA Tour, and Richy Werenski wasn ’ t any less satisfied about taking the title on Sunday at the Barracuda Championship than he would if the tournament wasn’t played the same week as a World Golf Championship. The 28-year-old took the title in the “opposite field” event at Old Greenwood in Truckee, Calif., with an eagle on the 16th hole and birdie on the 18th. Thanks to the modified Stableford scoring format, it was enough to let him sneak past 54-hole leader Troy Merritt and win his first career PGA Tour title.

With win, the former Georgia Tech golfer earned a spot into the upcoming PGA Championship and the U.S. Open in August, along with a two-year exemption on the PGA Tour. He also took home the $630,000 first-place prize money payout.

The 2022 Barracuda Championship final leaderboard is headed by winner Chez Reavie, who earned the PGA Tour win at Tahoe Mt. Club in Truckee, Calif.

Reavie scored a mere six points in the modified Stableford scoring system in the final round, but that was enough for a one-point win over Alex Noren , who finished on 42 total points.

Martin Laird finished alone in third place on 38 points, with Mark Hubbard on 37 points and finishing alone in fourth place.

Reavie won the $666,000 winner's share of the $3,700,000 purse.

2024 RBC Heritage prize money payouts for each PGA Tour player

It pays to play well on the PGA Tour. Just ask  this week’s winner, Scottie Scheffler .

The 27-year-old won the 2024 RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, on Monday after play was suspended for two-and-a-half hours on Sunday due to inclement weather and then later for darkness. The win is the world No. 1's fourth in his last five starts and 10th of his PGA Tour career.

Last week Scheffler won $3.6 million at the Masters and he earned another $3.6 million for his win this week in the PGA Tour's latest big-money signature event. Sahith Theegala, who finished three shots back in second, banked a hefty $2.18 million for his runner-up showing. Patrick Cantlay and Wyndham Clark, who finished T-3 at 15 under, each banked $1.18 million.

With $20 million up for grabs, check out how much money each PGA Tour player earned this week at the 2024 RBC Heritage in Hilton Head.

For the second time in as many Additional Events, a former winner on the PGA TOUR emerged with the title. Brice Garnett did it at the Puerto Rico Open on the second Sunday of March. Today, it was Billy Horschel at the Corales Puntacana Championship.

It could be argued that the only commonality between both winners was that they had prevailed previously, but in a blind test, no one would mistake Garnett’s career for Horschel’s, and vice versa. And that’s not a knock to either guy, instead, it’s a validation of the possibilities of the Additional Events. Show up, peg it and putt out. The golf ball doesn’t care who you are.

All motivations to compete in Additional Events begin with the opportunity to make a difference in one’s season and potentially a career, but the betting houses care only about the tournament proper.

In what was his season debut, Garnett was +15000 to win pre-tournament at BetMGM in Puerto Rico. He broke through on the PGA TOUR in the inaugural edition of the Corales Puntacana in 2018, so he went six years without another trophy presentation, not to mention a loss of fully exempt status in the interim.

Horschel’s most recent of seven TOUR victories was the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday in early June of 2022, and he’s played out of the winners category ever since his maiden title at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in 2013. Of course, he also was the 2014 FedExCup champion. And with a sturdy 2024 that already included two top 10s among four top 20s, it wasn’t surprising that his pre-tournament odds were just +2000 , third-shortest in the field of 132.

With his eighth victory, Horschel banks 300 FedExCup points and $720,000. The win comes with a two-year exemption (although Horschel is exempt on TOUR through 2025 thanks to his win at the Memorial), entry into the PGA Championship at Valhalla next month and a start next year at Kapalua in The Sentry.

Like Garnett, Wesley Bryan is a former winner on TOUR (2017 RBC Heritage) who also lost status – injury and shoulder surgery played a significant role as well – but he was attempting a wire-to-wire victory at Corales Golf Club. He settled for solo second, two strokes back of Horschel. Had Bryan finished the job, at +30000 , he’d have been the latest longshot to win in 2024.

Kevin Tway ( +15000 ) checked up alone in third another two shots in arrears. He’s another one-time PGA TOUR champion (2018 Fortinet Championship) who lost his card since.

At +1400 each, Alex Noren and Nicolai Højgaard were the tournament favorites at Corales. Noren finished T23, while Højgaard missed the cut by five. The Dane was the only golfer in the field who had played the Masters the previous week.
