We let you know more about us and the kind of special luxury trips we put together for our guests here at Jacada Travel.

Alex :  Jacada Travel, plan completely private, tailor-made, luxury trips, but with heart and personality.

One of the things I love about what we do, and what we can do for clients here, is push the people slightly out of their comfort zone…so we can give people the confidence to do something a little bit different. So maybe they’ve got lots of comfort in that trip, lots of really nice places to stay, but maybe a little bit of an adventure…and you need to speak to someone who really knows their stuff, who’s been there, lived it and done it. And we can do that for people.

George:  We’ve all lived and worked in the areas we specialise in and we really take pleasure in the little details, the special touches, getting off the radar and maybe finding that special little steak restaurant in Buenos Aires that isn’t in the guide books yet. Things like that make us different.

Byron:  I’m sending you to my home country, I’m sending you to my home continent. I often tell clients – it sounds lame but it’s true – this is where I’d take my family if I am arranging a family trip. That’s how I think about it: if this was my family, would I be happy with this trip? If these were my parents, would I be happy with sending them here?

Tess:  We are creating unforgettable experiences. It sounds a bit corny when you say “trip of a lifetime”, but they really are. You know, we have people that nine times out of ten say “that was the best trip we’ve ever done”.

Alex:  All the way through you have someone looking after you, and that’s something people feedback to us all the time. It’s about how they really feel taken care of, they feel they’re in a pair of safe hands, and that’s so important to people.

Tess:  It’s not a cookie-cutter mould, it really is experiential, tailor-made and we take the time to listen to people. It sounds obvious but we actually really do care. You know, we really want our clients to have the best time possible. It’s important to us.

Alex:  What makes a Jacada trip special are the people that you meet on the trip and the care and the passion that everybody puts into it. From the travel designers, to the guides, the people who are looking after you in the hotel, every step of the way they are passionate about travel, but also about doing a great job. They really know what responsibility they have and that shines through.

Kate :  I think, when you go away and travel, you remember that forever, and it’s great to think that we are creating really special memories for people.

Colombia 2024: Beautiful, Stress Free Trip

I spent 9 days traveling solo in Colombia, specifically Bogota, Medellin and Cartagena. The trip was planned so thoughtfully and thoroughly, and they took into consideration all of my feedback and interests. From hotels to restaurants, to tours, everything exceeded my expectations. Lily and Berni were great to work with, and always available to discuss the details of the trip, if needed. They carefully curated a beautiful list of boutique hotels that had all of the amenities I wanted. And booked a few restaurants with all of my "wants" included. The tours were very well planned out, with expert tour guides, who were personable and thoughtful. The English speaking guides and drivers were all on time/early when picking me up/dropping me off at the airport and for all excursions, which I greatly appreciated. I went to three cities in Colombia, and they booked all of the internal flights. They sent me my boarding pass a few hours before my trips, my guides took me into each airport, and made sure I got to where I needed to go. Their knowledge and passion for their cities was infectious, and made the experience that much more interesting and personal. There was also a 24/7 What's App group while away, which was a wonderful way to stay in touch and get immediate responses, if needed. Olga and Jessica were my contacts in Colombia, and they were super responsive, helpful and lovely. If you're thinking about booking a trip with Jacada, just do it, you won't be disappointed!

Jacada planned the perfect trip!

I’ve never traveled via guide or planned a trip with an agency before…but I was blown away with Jacadas execution, knowledge, service and hospitality. From the first phone call, to the various drivers, guides, and reservations, to the very last farewell, Jacada made our Peru vacation absolutely spectacular. I highly recommend Ludwick, our guide in Cusco & Machu Picchu. He is such a wonderful person and the perfect guide. He took such great care of us, was flexible and so knowledgeable. I am very thankful for his guidance. I want to come back and hike the Inka Trail with him in the near future! Peru is a special place. Our driver, Sam, was also so helpful and compassionate. My trip to Portugal was wonderful

My trip to Portugal was wonderful! I planned it with Meg and Rita, and their suggestions, answers to my questions and support all the way made my trip! I could not have done it without them! I travelled alone, so especially as a senior , my family knew I was really not alone! The drivers I had in Lisbon to Coimbra, and then in Coimbra to Porto were so helpful and attentive to all details. Each hotel was more beautiful than the previous one, so much so I can not pick a favourite! Meals were excellent! I attended Fado in Lisbon and then a surprise Fado with Coimbra university students in Coimbra. This was arranged by Meg and Rita, was a complete surprise and so enjoyable! The tour of the Roman ruins in Coimbra was informative and this guide was exemplary! The Lifestyle tour with Magdalena in Porto was definitely a highlight of my trip! Also I was able to return to Carcavelos, have lunch with friends, and also went to see the house my husband and I had built 45 years ago! Definitely a high light. Meeting Rita in Porto was lovely. I’m so impressed by her. I could continue, but this is already too verbose! Thank you Jacada , and especially Meg and Rita for this wonderful experience!!!

First Time to Forever Jacada Customer

From start to finish everyone I interacted with was wonderful to work with! I’ve never worked with a travel agent before my trip and now I'll never travel without one!! Magical Costa Rica trip

Jacada planned our trip of a lifetime…

Jacada planned our trip of a lifetime to Vietnam and Thailand in January/February 2024 for 3 weeks. From the moment we landed in Hanoi, they prioritized our entry through customs to a no wait line and transferred us to our guide and driver. It was seamless and professional the entire trip. We experienced the culture and people in authentic day trips through the trip. Making rice paper in countryside home, drinking tea and playing music with a local family to traveling the Mekong delta in a fast boat. We had 6 different guides/drives and all of them made sure our experiences were perfect. The accommodations were all 5 stars and well situated and appointed. The top hotels included Capella in Hanoi, Four Seasons in Hoi An and Six Senses in Kao Yao Noi. It would be very difficult to not use Jacada again after having sure a wonderful trip with no worries. My trip advisor Rosanna Convey made sure we hit all the top spots and had the most spectacular trip.

The Jacada team planned a fabulous trip 3 times!

The Jacada team planned a fabulous trip to Chile for us and went above and beyond to reschedule it twice because of the pandemic and then a bout of covid. The attention to detail while planning our trip was great. They have great local partners that just made our trip amazing from pick up at the airport when we arrived to when we left Nepal. Highly Recommended Travel / Service Provider

Our Jacada Peru trip was a first-class experience. Everything was seamless. The guides were excellent, the hotels were appropriate (some were really excellent), the logistics were perfect. There were many thoughtful small touches that made a real difference (snacks, a boxed lunch on the day we were picked up and went on a long drive), water, small gifts for the kids, etc. We loved being on a complicated trip where we did not have to constantly be managing logistics, tickets, boarding passes etc.

Jacada Travel was created Alex Malcolm in 2008, in hopes of giving people the chance to travel more authentically. He came to this realization after living abroad in Brazil, and realized he was only able to experience the country from a local’s perspective because of his local friends. Have you been to Moscow ? In all seriousness, they have the prettiest metro stations I have ever seen and I still can’t believe how immaculate and lovely every station was. There are several different stations pictured below and this is the second of several posts where I will show you the beauty of the Moscow Metro. Did you see part 1 ?  There really isn’t much to say because I think the pictures speak for themselves. I have so many more pictures to share with you!

Touring the Top 10 Moscow Metro Stations

Komsomolskaya metro station looks like a museum. It has vaulted ceilings and baroque decor.

Hidden underground, in the heart of Moscow, are historical and architectural treasures of Russia. These are Soviet-era creations – the metro stations of Moscow.

Our guide Maria introduced these elaborate metro stations as “the palaces for the people.” Built between 1937 and 1955, each station holds its own history and stories. Stalin had the idea of building beautiful underground spaces that the masses could enjoy. They would look like museums, art centers, concert halls, palaces and churches. Each would have a different theme. None would be alike.

The two-hour private tour was with a former Intourist tour guide named Maria. Maria lived in Moscow all her life and through the communist era of 60s to 90s. She has been a tour guide for more than 30 years. Being in her 60s, she moved rather quickly for her age. We traveled and crammed with Maria and other Muscovites on the metro to visit 10 different metro stations.

Moscow subways are very clean

To Maria, every street, metro and building told a story. I couldn’t keep up with her stories. I don’t remember most of what she said because I was just thrilled being in Moscow.   Added to that, she spilled out so many Russian words and names, which to one who can’t read Cyrillic, sounded so foreign and could be easily forgotten.

The metro tour was the first part of our all day tour of Moscow with Maria. Here are the stations we visited:

1. Komsomolskaya Metro Station  is the most beautiful of them all. Painted yellow and decorated with chandeliers, gold leaves and semi precious stones, the station looks like a stately museum. And possibly decorated like a palace. I saw Komsomolskaya first, before the rest of the stations upon arrival in Moscow by train from St. Petersburg.

2. Revolution Square Metro Station (Ploshchad Revolyutsii) has marble arches and 72 bronze sculptures designed by Alexey Dushkin. The marble arches are flanked by the bronze sculptures. If you look closely you will see passersby touching the bronze dog's nose. Legend has it that good luck comes to those who touch the dog's nose.

3. Arbatskaya Metro Station served as a shelter during the Soviet-era. It is one of the largest and the deepest metro stations in Moscow.

4. Biblioteka Imeni Lenina Metro Station was built in 1935 and named after the Russian State Library. It is located near the library and has a big mosaic portrait of Lenin and yellow ceramic tiles on the track walls.

5. Kievskaya Metro Station was one of the first to be completed in Moscow. Named after the capital city of Ukraine by Kiev-born, Nikita Khruschev, Stalin's successor.

6. Novoslobodskaya Metro Station  was built in 1952. It has 32 stained glass murals with brass borders.

7. Kurskaya Metro Station was one of the first few to be built in Moscow in 1938. It has ceiling panels and artwork showing Soviet leadership, Soviet lifestyle and political power. It has a dome with patriotic slogans decorated with red stars representing the Soviet's World War II Hall of Fame. Kurskaya Metro Station is a must-visit station in Moscow.

8. Mayakovskaya Metro Station built in 1938. It was named after Russian poet Vladmir Mayakovsky. This is one of the most beautiful metro stations in the world with 34 mosaics painted by Alexander Deyneka.

9. Belorusskaya Metro Station is named after the people of Belarus. In the picture below, there are statues of 3 members of the Partisan Resistance in Belarus during World War II. The statues were sculpted by Sergei Orlov, S. Rabinovich and I. Slonim.

10. Teatralnaya Metro Station (Theatre Metro Station) is located near the Bolshoi Theatre.

An excellent read! Thanks for much for sharing the Russian metro system with us. We're heading to Moscow in April and exploring the metro stations were on our list and after reading your post, I'm even more excited to go visit them. Thanks again 🙂
