Seven Seas Voyager Itineraries

Seven seas voyager review, review of seven seas voyager.

The 2003-built Seven Seas Voyager cruise ship is the third-oldest of the RSSC-Regent boats, preceded by the "old-timers"  Navigator (1999) and Mariner (2001).

The vessel (IMO number 9247144) is currently Bahamas- flagged (MMSI 311513000) and registered in Nassau .

History - construction and ownership

Regent Cruises (officially Regent Seven Seas Cruises / RSSC ) is an all-inclusive, top-luxury cruise brand fka "Radisson Seven Seas". Until 2014, the company (as part of "Prestige Cruise Holdings") was owned by Apollo Management LP - one of the world's largest private investment equity funds. Since September 2014, RSSC and the sister company Oceania Cruises are owned by NCL Norwegian (shipowner), acquired at the total cost of USD 3 billion. Regent cruise ships are medium-sized, with capacity up to 800 passengers. The fleet consists of 6-star rated all-suite and all-balcony vessels with a space-to-guest ratio around 70 and staff-to-guest ratio 1-to-1,6 (some of industry's best). As building cost per berth , RSSC liners are among the world's most expensive ships.

Regent Seven Seas Voyager cruise ship

The 700-passenger ship Seven Seas Voyager was the second 100% balcony 100% suite cruise ship in the world, following Seven Seas Mariner. It isn't just about the quick service, the inspired voyages or the outstanding celebrity lecturers, but also the fact that this is a cruise liner with a big personality. Where else are passengers going to find a captain who reads poetry over the public address system together with the weather and navigation reports? Or fiercely social cruisers - like "a family afloat," as one repeat traveler frames it - who return to Seven Seas Voyager cruise ship year after year, in large part to spend time together?

Decks and Cabins

Seven Seas Voyager staterooms (353 total, in 13 Suite categories) are all (100%) with private step-out balconies. The largest accommodations are the Master Suites (on decks 7 and 11) ranging in sizes 1150-1220 ft2 (107-113 m2) with terrace sized 185 ft2 (17 m2). The lowest cabin category (Deluxe Suite) costs ~3 times less in comparison to Master Suite’s rates.

The boat has 12 decks , of which 9 are passenger-accessible and 6 with cabins.

Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks

Compass Rose restaurant is the main dining room on Seven Seas Voyager. It functions on an open seating basis and offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner without set dining assignments. La Veranda is the ship's daytime buffet, serving breakfast and lunch. In the evening it is transformed into a bistro serving Mediterranean cuisine. The specialty steakhouse restaurant "Prime 7" is free of charge but requires reservations for dinner. Dinner is served alfresco on Voyager's pool deck at least once during each cruise. Another choice for casual lunch is the poolside grill. Dinner can be ordered from the MDR menu during restaurant hours to be served en suite.

Follows the complete list of Seven Seas Voyager restaurants and food bars.

  • Compass Rose (main dining room restaurant, open-seating breakfast, lunch and dinner; features European Continental dishes and alternative choices - vegetarian, specialties from the Spa menu, select dishes from Regent's Chartreuse menu with gourmet French cuisine)
  • Signatures (French specialty restaurant, dinner-only, reservations-only) in 2016 was replaced by RSSC's new Chartreuse restaurant with traditional French cuisine).
  • Pool Grill (fast food bar, poolside; serves the pool deck area)
  • Prime 7 (reservations-only dinner restaurant with American Steakhouse menu)
  • La Veranda / Sette Mari (casual dining venue; operates as ship’s self-service buffet restaurant; in the evenings, the buffet transforms into “Sette Mari” Italian dinner restaurant, complimentary).

Shipboard entertainment options - Fun and Sport

With its shiny, Scandinavian-inspired interior, Seven Seas Voyager cruise ship has an old-school sensibility. It is not showy, it is understated. There are no Aloha Deck or Fiesta Deck there - simply deck number 4, number 5 and so on. There is also a clubby feel, in part because Seven Seas Voyager cruise liner offers praised beverages - from diet Coke to Chivas Regal - at all its lounges and bars. A lot of the suites also have butlers.

Follows the complete list of Seven Seas Voyager lounges, clubs and other entertainment venues for kids, teens and adults.

  • Constellation Theater (2-deck high main show lounge for grand music and show productions; also features “Cirque Rock ‘n Roll” aerial acrobatics spectacle)
  • Atrium (8-deck high open-floor area)
  • Club.com (Internet computers room); Library
  • Connoisseur Club (smoking lounge with comfortable leather armchairs; offers hand-rolled Cuban cigars)
  • Card Rooms (hosts bridge tournaments and lectures)
  • Voyager Lounge (disco nightclub; operates as a piano bar during the day with resident pianist performances)
  • Coffee Connection (specialty coffee and patisserie bar)
  • Horizon Lounge (with a large dance floor; hosts daily trivia shows and offers Afternoon Tea)
  • Observation Lounge (grand piano bar with live music performances in the evenings)
  • The Boutique (duty-free shopping arcade: luxury jewelry, precious stones, brand perfumes, watches, designer clothes, accessories, gifts, souvenirs, Regent-logo wear)
  • Casino (with 2 sections: for the slot machines, and for the gaming tables)
  • Voyager Pool area (with a large swimming pool, 2 Whirlpools, sunbathing area with loungers, tennis tables, seating area; served by the Pool Bar)
  • Canyon Ranch SpaClub and Wellness Center (Treatment Rooms, Saunas, Steam Rooms, Relaxation Room. The Centre includes ship’s Beauty Salon, Gym and Aerobics Studio)
  • Fitness Center (with floor-ceiling windows, modern equipment); Promenade (Deck 5)
  • The Top Deck (Power Walking/Jogging Track; sports court: mini-golf putting green; Golf Net; Shuffleboard; Paddle Tennis court).

Seven Seas Voyager Wiki

Regent Voyager ship was built in  Genoa Italy  and is the line's second vessel providing ultra-inclusive "big yacht" luxury cruise vacation experiences. Her fleet mates are the Regent ships  Mariner  and  Navigator , and the new  Explorer  (2016).

On September 2, 2014, NCL Norwegian  purchased the company "Prestige Cruise Holdings" (owner of  Oceania Cruises  and RSSC) for USD 3,025 billion, thus becoming the official owner of all vessels in both fleets.

In mid-April 2016, RSSC announced upgraded fares adding free international flights to all 2017-2018 voyages. These roundtrip air travel deals (business class) were added to company's signature (standard) all-inclusive package - wines, spirits, soda, water, unlimited internet, free shore excursions, prepaid gratuities, pre-post cruise hotel stays and transfers. The air-inclusive cruise deals involved international flights leaving from 26 cities (the USA and Canada), regardless of the suite category booked.

Apollo Group provides all RSSC ships with the entire onboard hotel product and services. This includes administration, food staff (preparation and serving), housekeeping staff, also the vessel's provisioning and crewing. Other cruise lines served by Apollo are  Thomson UK (Marella Cruises)  and  Oceania .

The Seven Seas Voyager has the unmistakable sense of up-scale American luxury. My Seven Seas Voyager review explains what makes her different from other luxury cruise ships. I detail the most popular suites , rate the restaurants and preview the on board entertainment options . In addition, there are video tours so you can see what this luxury cruise ship is really like. Click on the tabs above to navigate to each part of this review.

  • Chartreuse – the best restaurant at sea.
  • Off-menu dining in Compass Rose.
  • Butler service in premium suites.
  • Lacks a sense of intimacy.
  • Service can be patchy.

The Seven Seas Voyager deck plan is mostly easy to get around. There are a total of 9 passenger decks, the highest of which is deck 12.

  • Reception : Deck 5
  • Accommodation : Decks 6 to 11
  • Main dining room : Deck 4
  • Theatre : Deck 4
  • Observation lounge : Deck 11

Built in Italy and launch in 2003, Seven Seas Voyager is the third cruise ship in the luxury Regent Seven Seas Cruises fleet.

Seven Seas Voyager is 206 m. / 677 ft. in length with room for 706 guests. That is about the same number of guests as the newer Seven Seas Explorer. Guests stay in luxurious all-suite, all-balcony accommodation, but unlike many other luxury cruise ships the suites are positioned from bow to stern.

Seven Seas Voyager underwent a major refurbishment in 2016. She now boasts the same elegant style and decor featured on Seven Seas Explorer. Also, the French restaurant called Chartreuse made its debut on Seven Seas Voyager as part of the ship’s refurbishment. This has been a great addition to the onboard dining scene.

Indeed as my Seven Seas Voyager review explains, dining is a delight. There are five excellent venues to choose from , including two specialty restaurants and the spectacular main dining room called Compass Rose.

Also, there are  three sumptuious lounges and there is entertainment most nights in a Broadway-style theatre .

A fully-equipped gym and fitness centre can help burn off unwanted calories, plus there is a luxurious spa offering a range of indulgent treatments to keep you looking good and feeling relaxed.

Your Seven Seas Voyager cruise fare is all-inclusive. Gourmet meals, champagne, fine wines and spirits are all included in the cruise fare. Uniquely, shore excursions are also included. Indeed, once you get onboard there is no need to pay for anything else.

On my review voyage the house champagne was Heidsieck Monopole Blue Top Brut. There will be a bottle waiting in your suite upon embarkation.

You can purchase premium and vintage alcoholic beverages too, however I thought the house offerings were excellent.

Also included in the cruise fare are non-alcoholic beverages, specialty teas and coffees.

Gratuities are also included, which means tipping is not necessary.

In addition, shuttle bus transfers to and from the port are often included. Plus, there is also a handy tote bag to take ashore.

As this Seven Seas Voyager review reveals, dining is a highlight of any sailing. On the whole the quality and presentation   of the produce is impressive.

There are five dining venues to choose from. These include Compass Rose with its European-inspired menu, as well as the Veranda buffet restaurant and the al fresco Pool Grill.

There are also two specialty restaurants – a steakhouse called Prime 7 and the sublimely good French restaurant called Chartreuse.

Light snacks and coffee are served all day at the popular Coffee Connection.

In-suite dining is available 24-hours a day.

The Seven Seas Voyager dress code ranges from casual wear to formal, depending on the time of day.

Casual wear includes resort-style apparel like jeans, shorts, t-shirts, and tennis shoes. It is appropriate only before 6:00pm, with two exceptions: Guests can wear casual anytime they dine at the Pool Grill or Pool Bar; Guests can also wear casual in any venue after 6:00pm on the final night of the cruise.

Otherwise, in the evening guests wear either elegant casual or formal . This is indicated each day in the onboard Passages newsletter.

For ladies elegant casual wear includes skirts, slacks with a blouse or sweater, a pant suit or dress. For gentlemen it is slacks and a collared shirt. Sport jackets are optional and ties are not required.

On formal nights ladies wear gowns and cocktail dresses, while gentlemen dress in tuxedos, dinner jackets or dark suits with a tie.

Like most cruise lines, the number of formal nights depends on the cruise duration. Cruises of less than 16 days have no formal nights, while longer cruises have at least two formal evenings.

Seven Seas Voyager is a much loved cruise ship and as such she has a loyal following. During my Seven Seas Voyager review sailing the guests generally ranged in age from 35 to 70-years old.

Most guests are from the U.S.A. and they appreciate the upscale luxury onboard. There are also guests from the U.K. and Canada as well as an increasing number of Australians and Europeans.

It’s worth noting that, like all the Regent Seven Seas Cruises fleet, the Seven Seas Voyager is gay-friendly.

Seven Seas Voyager exudes a sense of luxurious Americana, with tastefully decorated public areas and wonderfully spacious suites. The five restaurants offer some of the best dining at sea. And the resort-style pool is like a floating oasis. Combined with the all-inclusive lifestyle it’s hard to beat.

Dear Lore Thank you for your kind remarks. I hope you enjoy your cruise on Seven Seas Voyager! Regards Jason

where is the seven seas voyager now

On this ship in the Med this yr we found the pool area very poor. Evening meals non existent. On th3 last night of our 3 week cruise my husband dressed in polo shirt and long shorts and boaters but not allowed to dine anywhere but the pool area. This was our 3rd a Regent sevenseas Cruise and totally disappointed. Staff were not interested in serving and Cabin staff very poor. Chatreuse very ordinary and we cancelled a second booking. Butter was described as with truffle but when I asked where were the truffle the waiter told me the butter was with flecks of truffle and he couldn’t locate any. Over priced cruise line and total disappointment

where is the seven seas voyager now

Agree with De above. This is an extremely overpriced cruise line. Very disappointed with the experience.

It claims to be the most luxurious ship ever built, but the service, food, and amenities were all subpar – at most, it rivals a four-star cruise, but this has a 6-star price tag!

I chose this cruise to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday, because it was supposed to be very luxurious. Turns out they didn’t know how to do servicing at all – despite reminding the crew that he’ll be celebrating his birthday on the cruise on the day we boarded as well as when booking the entire trip a few months prior, there was no decorations, no cards, nothing in the room after we returned from the excursion on the day. When I called the front desk to ask what happened, they decided to send someone to put up balloons and a paper sign while my husband was in the room, sitting right in front of them…making it totally meaningless!

Following the failed celebration of his birthday, we came across a series of other crazy encounters, making the entire trip an extremely unenjoyable holiday: 1. Live spider and live bug found in a bowl of berries for room service dining 2. Soiled towel in the bathroom that was stained with streaks of bright brown red, after the bathroom was refreshed and refilled with “new”, “clean” towels 3. Our friend shipped over a bottle of champagne along with a birthday card to surprise my husband. The crew lost the card and only plotted the bottle of champagne in the middle of our room without saying anything….

In terms of the food quality and amenities, these are also below standards. For example, soup onboard is always so salty it’s undrinkable (happened multiple times). The steak at their specialty restaurant was very tough – meat quality was bad to begin with. In terms of amenities, the design of it all was missing the perspective of the customer experience. For example, there was no assigned area where guests can blow dry their hair, powder up, and get ready after using the Spa. You actually have to stand up while blow drying your hair – there are no chairs in the whole spa area. How is that supposed to be a relaxing and enjoyable experience?

Love this cruise line! Exceptional food and service. Enjoy the diversity of the guests. Made many friends and people with whom I still keep in touch. Excellent program for solo travelers -nightly. Just a fun, relaxing and memorable cruise every time!

Seven Seas Voyager Completes 20 Years in Service

  • April 3, 2023

Seven Seas Voyager

The Seven Seas Voyager is completing 20 years in service this month after setting sail on its inaugural voyage on April 1, 2003.

As Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ second all-suite vessel, the Voyager was built at the T. Mariotti Shipyard in Italy.

Delivered to the company in February 2003, the 700-guest vessel was christened in Monaco before welcoming its first paying guests a few weeks later.

The ceremony, which took place at the Port of Monte Carlo, was attended by Monaco’s then Crown Prince Albert Grimaldi and marked the start of the ship’s inaugural season.

Soon after the event, the Seven Seas Voyager sailed from Monaco on a 12-night Mediterranean itinerary to Venice, Italy.

During its maiden summer program, the vessel luxury continued to sail in Europe, offering additional seven- to 12-night cruises in the Mediterranean, as well as in Western Europe and the Baltic.

Later, in November, the Seven Seas Voyager crossed the Atlantic for the first time ahead of its debut in North America.

During the 2003-2004 winter season, the vessel offered a series of itineraries to the Caribbean, Central America and the Panama Canal.

With no identical sister ships, the Seven Seas Voyager shares a similar design with Regent’s previous newbuild, the 2001-built Seven Seas Mariner.

According to the company, as its fleet mate, the 42,363-ton vessel was originally designed to offer a high space ratio, in addition to similar public spaces and suites featuring separate shower and bathtubs.

Extensively refurbished over the years, the Seven Seas Voyager underwent a large modernization in 2016.

Part of a $125 million refit program, the work aimed to bring the ship to the same standards of the company’s latest newbuild, the 2016-built Seven Seas Explorer.

During the 25-day drydock renovation, the Voyager received “the same elegant style and indisputable attention to detail famously featured on Seven Seas Explorer,” Regent said at the time.

  • April 4, 2022

The entire Regent Seven Seas Cruises fleet is now back in service.

The fifth ship to restart passenger voyages,  Seven Seas Voyager,  set sail on March 26, 2022 from Civitavecchia, which is the cruise port for Rome, Italy. The vessel is still currently on the 10-night voyage, which has been stopping at ports in Italy, France, and Spain before it will conclude in Barcelona tomorrow, April 5.

Through the end of May,  Seven Seas Voyager  will continue to sail in the Mediterranean, before heading north to spend the summer sailing in northern Europe on a variety of itineraries that visit destinations including England, Ireland, Norway, Iceland, Sweden, Scotland, France, and other countries.

In September, the ship will head back into the Mediterranean through the end of October, and then go onto Africa before heading across the Atlantic to spend the winter in South America.

Seven Seas Voyager  entered service in 2003. The all-suite, all-balcony vessel offers passengers an all-inclusive experience focused on high-end service and dining.

In 2016,  Seven Seas Voyager  went through a $125 million renovation during a 25-day dry dock to make it similar to the company’s new build at the time — Seven Seas Explorer.

Features of the 700-guest ship include a golf net, pool deck with a heated pool and two hot tubs, casino, mini golf, an observation lounge with live music, Chartreuse French restaurant, Prime 7 steakhouse, and a café.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises ended 2021 with three vessels back in service:  Seven Seas Splendor, Seven Seas Explorer,  and  Seven Seas Navigator.

Earlier this month the fourth ship to resume service was Seven Seas  Navigator , offering voyages in the Caribbean and North America.

Specialty Dining

Chartreuse:  Featuring a classic French menu with a modern twist, Chartreuse evokes memories of a chic Parisian fine dining restaurant discovered during an evening stroll. Wherever you are seated in this regal restaurant, you will be treated to a succulent dinner while enjoying incredible ocean views. The restaurant ambiance is complemented by a menu that features dishes expertly prepared using both classic and modern techniques for a multiple course celebration of French gastronomy.

Compass Rose:  Much thought was given to the design of Compass Rose, the flagship restaurant of Regent Seven Seas fleet. The dining room is outfitted with rich woods contrasted by light marble stones and mother of pearl shimmering brightly with an elegant color theme of light shades of blue, white, gold and silver. Compass Rose delights with a beautifully defined atmosphere and transitions from refreshing natural light during the day to a romantic ice blue lighting theme at night. This is the perfect setting for you to enjoy your breakfast, lunch and dinner, where the menu features an exceptional variety of Continental cuisine.

Prime 7:  A true classic in every sense, Prime 7 sets a new standard in steakhouse fare with its contemporary interpretation of an American favorite. Handsomely decorated with supple leather wing-back chairs, burnished woods and rich earth-toned fabrics, Prime 7 exudes a distinct, intimate elegance. All the traditional starters are here, including Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes, Classic Steak Tartare, and Clam Chowder. Of course, beef is the undisputed star, and it is all USDA Prime and Dry-Aged at least 28 days to ensure the ultimate tenderness, juiciness and flavor. Prime New York Strip, Porterhouse Steak and succulent Filet Mignon only touch upon the selections. Mouthwatering alternatives include Alaskan King Crab Legs and Dover Sole. Prime 7 is open for dinner only and reservations are required.

Sette Mari at La Veranda:  Each evening, La Veranda transforms into Sette Mari at La Veranda, a casual, intimate dining experience. Enjoy an extensive menu of authentic antipasti and Italian specialties served á la carte and paired with fine Italian wines — complimentary of course. Delectable dishes are prepared á la minute by talented chefs using only the freshest gourmet ingredients and served by attentive waiters. Sette Mari at La Veranda is open for dinner only.

Casual Dining

La Veranda Restaurant:  Take in stunning ocean views while enjoying elegant breakfast and lunch buffets in the chic indoor dining room or al fresco on the shaded, open-air deck. Breakfasts include traditional favorites, as well as a made-to-order omelet station, a variety of fresh fruits and pastries, along with daily specials, like fluffy Belgian waffles with fresh blueberry compote. For lunch indulge in an array of choices from a bountiful salad bar, gourmet sandwiches, hot carving stations and delicious desserts.

Pool Grill:  The Pool Grill is open-air, yet abundantly shaded for comfortable dining. Enjoy grilled-to-order burgers, grilled seafood, sandwiches, and fresh salads. Treat yourself to milkshakes and malts or an old-fashioned hand-dipped ice cream dessert sprinkled with all your favorite toppings.

Experience the joys of Istanbul through some of its most memorable landmarks: the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, the famous Grand Bazaar, and the magnificent and ancient underground cisterns.

Operational Note: For the 2024 season, the visit to the Archaeological Museum has been replaced with a visit to the Underground Cistern.

NOTE: Due to the amount of walking during the day tours, at times over uneven natural ground and /or steps, this program is not recommended for guests who have walking or mobility difficulties or for those guests who rely on a wheelchair or scooter. Guests also must be able to get in and out of the tour coaches with little to no assistance.

Once you have arrived at the airport in Istanbul, gone through Customs and claimed your luggage, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in the city.

When you arrive, please proceed to Exit Gate #8 where you will be met by RSSC’s local ground team.

Today, you will visit the true icons of Istanbul, the must-sees that define the city, beginning with the Hagia Sophia, a former Byzantine church, turned Ottoman Mosque, turned museum, and now serves once again as a mosque and a museum.

Although the earliest two versions were destroyed, this Hagia Sophia dates from 537 A.D., and is considered a masterpiece of Byzantine architecture. It served as Istanbul’s principal mosque for nearly 500 years and became a model for the Blue Mosque.

Note: Visiting St. Sophia requires managing ramps and stairs

The Hippodrome is also here, partially excavated to reveal some of the seats, columns, statues, and obelisks that were once part of this arena. Chariot races, coronations and parades all took place at the Hippodrome, which first appeared in 203 A.D. About 130 years later, Constantine the Great expanded and reshaped the arena so it could hold approximately 100,000 spectators.

Next you will see the fabulous Underground Cistern, the largest and most magnificent, covered cistern in Istanbul. It is an enormous, cavernous water storage tank built under Emperor Justinian in 532 AD.

The cistern was used to satisfy the growing demands of an expanding city and supplied the Great Palace area with water during extended sieges. Its 80,000 cubic meters of water were pumped all the way from the Black Sea through an extensive system of aqueducts.

Note: Visiting the Underground Cistern involves a series of steps to enter and exit

Enjoy a typical Turkish lunch at a local restaurant before heading to the Grand Bazaar where you will surely enjoy browsing and bartering at the world’s largest and the oldest covered marketplace. It contains more than 5,000 shops selling an absolutely amazing range of merchandise. Jewelry, carpets, antiques, old coins, furniture, prayer beads and copperware are only a few of the items in the bazaar, which has been operating since the 15th Century.

Finally, you will embark on a boat for a leisurely cruise on the Bosphorus, the famed strait that connects the Black Sea to the Sea of Marmara, and perhaps even more important serves as a boundary between Europe to the west and Asia to the east. Passing palaces, wooden mansions, and even modern villas along the way, you will experience Istanbul from an entirely different perspective, one you’ll never forget. (Note: Boat may not be exclusive to RSSC guests)

Return to your hotel where the remainder of the day is at leisure and dinner is on your own.

After breakfast at your hotel, depart for a visit of the phenomenal Blue Mosque. One of the few mosques with six minarets, the Blue Mosque was constructed in the early 17th century under the direction of Sultan Ahmet I, who was only 19 years old at the time. The exterior of the mosque is notable for its cascade of domes that seem to spill down from the central dome. Inside, the ceiling is lined with the 20,000 blue tiles for which the mosque is named.

Then, it is on to the 15th Century Topkapi Palace, which was expanded under the reign of almost every sultan over the next 400 years. Today, it is a maze of lavishly decorated buildings and courtyards that reflect its most glorious years as the political center of the Ottoman Empire. If time allows a visit to the Harem section of the Palace will also be visited.

Following lunch at a local and authentic Turkish restaurant, visit the Rustem Pasha Mosque, which was built in 1561 and has since survived fires and earthquakes. Thousands of brightly colored Iznik tiles are the allure here. They are all original 16th-century pieces of art and cover the walls, columns, and niches, lending the interior a spectacularly serene ambiance.

End your tour with a visit to the Spice Market, a locale so energetic and bustling that it is difficult to know where to look first. Aromas waft through the air, the cacophonous sounds are constant, and it is always crowded with shoppers haggling for the best possible prices.

Afterwards, you will drive to the pier for embarkation.

Please refer to the emailed Final Cruise Documents that you will receive approximately 21 days before sailing for your actual itinerary based on these factors. Should there be closures, alternate sites may be substituted and should flight times not allow certain visits, they will either be removed or moved to another day in the program.

Upon arriving at the International Airport in Istanbul, you will be met and transferred to the

Intercontinental Istanbul Hotel or similar hotel in Istanbul for check-in.

When you arrive, please proceed to exit gate #8 where you will be met by our local ground team.

The remainder of the day will be spent at leisure, allowing time for you to settle in or explore the city on your own. Meals are on your own.

Due to an early departure, you will receive a breakfast box upon check out.

Transfer to the airport for a short flight to Kayseri which lies in the Cappadocia Region.

The landscape here is stunningly surreal, almost lunar-like. Created by volcanic eruptions and shaped by thousands of years of erosion, the terrain features soaring fairy-tale rock chimneys and ancient dwellings carved out of the rocks. Few places on earth are so visually arresting.

You will then tour Uchisar, whose natural rock citadel is the highest point in Cappadocia and visible from a great distance.

Continue to the Goreme Open Air Museum, which contains the best-preserved examples of cave churches. You will notice that the frescoes adorning the walls are still brightly colored, even after centuries of exposure.

You will explore more of the region on a panoramic drive to Derbent to see its unusual Three Sisters rock chimneys.

Enjoy lunch in an authentic local restaurant before driving to Avanos which lies nearby and as you will discover, is known for pottery making. The clay has a beautiful reddish hue and comes from the banks of the Kizilirmak River that flows through town.

After visiting, you will check in to your hotel, where you will have dinner and spend the evening.

Following breakfast at the hotel, you will depart for a full-day, all-encompassing tour of the area.

A scenic drive brings you to the Underground city, a massive living complex beneath the surface that includes churches, stables, wineries and storage rooms. It is the deepest of the 36 underground cities in the Cappadocia region and has airshafts carved at least 300 feet into the rock. Although the city was probably never used for long stays, it served as an excellent defensive hideout during the early Christian period. There are approximately 600 doors leading into the underground city, all of them hidden in courtyards on the surface.

Continue to the nearby Village of Sinasos, a former Greek village. Explore More cave architecture awaits you in nearby Zelve, which was an important settlement and religious area between the 9th and 13th centuries. The now abandoned settlement is spread over three valleys, which also contain numerous pointed chimneys with large stems.

Enjoy lunch in an authentic local restaurant before some time for shopping.

By evening, you will return to the hotel for dinner and spend the remainder of the evening at leisure.

At check-out you will receive a breakfast box and then depart for a transfer to the airport for a return flight to Istanbul.

Upon arriving in Istanbul, enjoy a full-day tour, starting with the opulent Topkapi Palace, where Turkey’s sultans lived from 1453 until the middle of the 19th century. Then, you will see the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and Byzantine Hippodrome from outside.

A quick local lunch will be served in an authentic restaurant, nearby the Grand Bazaar.

After lunch, you will proceed to explore the labyrinthine Grand Bazaar, the largest and the oldest covered marketplace in the world. It contains more than 5,000 shops selling an absolutely amazing range of merchandise. Jewelry, carpets, antiques, old coins, furniture, prayer beads and copperware are only a few of the items in the bazaar, which has been operating since the 15th century.

Explore Barcelona and Girona in depth by visiting their architectural landmarks, often on guided walking tours and on your own with a liberating Hop On Hop Off bus voucher in the capital of Catalonia.

After disembarking the ship in Barcelona, you will begin a guided tour of the city. You will pass the Columbus monument and the waterfront on the way to Sagrada Familia, the extraordinary still-unfinished church that famed architect Antoni Gaudí worked on until his death in 1926. The guide will explain the history of the church and its lengthy ongoing construction during your outside visit.

Continuing, you will begin a walking tour of the Gothic Quarter, passing landmarks such as the La Seu Cathedral and city hall. A more sweeping view of Barcelona awaits you upon reaching Mount Juic hill, where you may pause for photos. You will then visit Spanish Village, an open-air museum with replicas of characteristic houses from throughout Spain. As you meander the grounds, you may observe artists such as glassblowers demonstrating their talents.

A tapas-style lunch follows, after which you will check into your hotel to spend the first of three nights. The remainder of the day will be at your leisure. The hotel is located in the Eixample district of Barcelona just a 10-minute walk to Las Ramblas. Passeig de Gràcia, the city’s nicest shopping street, is easily reached on foot. Emblematic buildings and sights such as Casa Batlló, Casa Milà (La Pedrera), La Sagrada Familia, and the Picasso museum are also nearby should you wish to visit them on your own.

NOTE: if your cruise ends in Tarragona, transfer from Tarragona to Barcelona before starting your city tour.

After breakfast, you will settle in for a direct transfer to Girona, accompanied by a guide. Northern Catalonia’s largest city, Girona is full of museums, galleries and Gothic churches, strung around a tangle of cobbled lanes and medieval walls. Reflections of modernist mansions shimmer in the river that divides the historic center from the gleaming commercial center.

During the comprehensive walking tour of the city center, you will enjoy an inside visit of the 12th-century Arab baths and see the remains of Girona’s historical Jewish community. During free time that follows, you might savor lunch on your own before transferring back to Barcelona to spend the evening at the hotel.

Following breakfast at the hotel, you will receive a complimentary Hop On Hop Off bus voucher that will allow you to explore the attractions that interest you the most. Simply hop on the buses and hop off whenever you wish. The buses travel in a continuous loop between attractions that include the Picasso Museum, the Gaudí-designed houses Casa Battló and Casa Mila, and various shopping areas.

The entire day will be yours to spend as you please, with all meals on your own before retiring to the hotel for the evening.

Following breakfast at the hotel, you will check out by noon (subject to change). Transfers to the airport will be based on flight times. See your Welcome Letter for details. For guests with late-departing flights, luggage storage is available at the hotel.

Explore two lesser-known but no less fabulous Tuscan villages – Saturnia and Pitigliano, where you will see ancient Etruscan ruins, luxuriate in natural hot springs and enjoy free time to enjoy charming villages.

DAY 1 - November 3, 2024

After departing from the pier in a deluxe bus, you will ride through the beautiful countryside towards a hidden treasure – the village of Vulci, which thrived during of the ancient Etruscan period.

While meandering through the ruins that have been excavated in an archaeological park there, you will see examples of advanced Etruscan engineering, especially in the 4th-century B.C. walls and Devil’s Bridge. The bridge’s name refers to the belief that only the devil could build a bridge so high and with such a wide arch. Other treasures in the park include the remains of an aqueduct, temples and a necropolis.

Continuing on, you will next visit Saturnia, a small village of Roman origin built in a strategic position on the ancient road Via Clodia. It is known for its mineral-rich thermal springs, especially Cascate del Mulino, whose steaming waters may improve skin disorders and benefit the digestive and circulatory systems.

You will check into the nearby Terme di Saturnia, a luxury hotel and thermal resort which is nestled between the rolling hills and cultivated countryside of Tuscany. It’s a place with magnetic energy, ideal for those in search of balance and harmony between mind and body, health and beauty.

The remainder of the day will be at your leisure, allowing you plenty of time to enjoy the amenities. They include natural hot springs, thermal pools, a Roman bath with a sauna and heated whirlpools.

A new summer anthem makes its way to australia in 2025-26.

SYDNEY, 10 April 2024 – A summer of memory making is on the horizon with Royal Caribbean International’s newly revealed 2025-2026 line-up from Australia. Holidaymakers have action-packed adventures in store, from shorter and bolder getaways to the Down Under debut of Anthem of the Seas in Sydney and Voyager of the Seas ’ long-awaited return when it arrives to its new home in Brisbane, Australia. The new line-up of 45 long and short getaways to the South Pacific, New Zealand and Australia, sailing between November 2025 and April 2026, are now open for bookings on Royal Caribbean’s website .

Royal Caribbean’s vice president and managing director of Australia and New Zealand, Gavin Smith, said: “Between the excitement of Anthem of the Seas making its Australian debut, Voyager’s return Down Under and more weekend getaways than ever before, the 2025-2026 summer season is one for the books. On deck are more short getaways than ever before. Voyager will sail from Brisbane for the first time from December 2025, with 20 holidays to choose from and a new destination in the line-up – Luganville , Vanuatu. For holidaymakers seeking a longer escape, they can choose a unique 12-night adventure from Singapore to Australia in December. The destinations in store include Benoa, Bali , and Darwin and Airlie Beach, Australia. Plus, there are as many as 10 shorter 4-, 6- and 7-night holidays that visit Airlie Beach and Cairns, Australia , on the sun-drenched coast of Queensland.

There is a variety of ways for everyone to play on Voyager, including racing family and friends on The Perfect Storm , three storeys of two high-speed waterslides with twisting turns and thrills; ice skating at Studio B , putting at mini golf ; and competing in glow-in-the-dark laser tag at Battle for Planet Z . NASA engineers discover why Voyager 1 is sending a stream of gibberish from outside our solar system

Voyager 1 has been sending a stream of garbled nonsense since November. Now NASA engineers have identified the fault and found a potential workaround.

An artist's illustration of Voyager 1 with its antenna pointed back at Earth.

For the past five months, the Voyager 1 spacecraft has been sending a steady stream of unreadable gibberish back to Earth. Now, NASA engineers finally know why.

The 46-year-old spacecraft sends regular radio signals as it drifts further from our solar system . But in November 2023, the signals suddenly became garbled, meaning  scientists were unable to read any of its data, and they were left mystified about the fault's origins.

In March, NASA engineers sent a command prompt, or "poke," to the craft to get a readout from its flight data subsystem (FDS) — which packages Voyager 1's science and engineering data before beaming it back to Earth.

After decoding the spacecraft's response, the engineers have found the source of the problem: The FDS's memory has been corrupted.

Related: NASA's Voyager 1 sends readable message to Earth after 4 nail-biting months of gibberish

"The team suspects that a single chip responsible for storing part of the affected portion of the FDS memory isn't working," NASA said in a blog post Wednesday (March 13) . "Engineers can't determine with certainty what caused the issue. Two possibilities are that the chip could have been hit by an energetic particle from space or that it simply may have worn out after 46 years."

— NASA reestablishes full contact with Voyager 2 probe after nail-biting 2-week blackout

Although it may take several months, the engineers say they can find a workaround to run the FDS without the fried chip — restoring the spacecraft's messaging output and enabling it to continue to send readable information from outside our solar system.

Launched in 1977, Voyager 1 zipped past Saturn and Jupiter in 1979 and 1980 before flying out into interstellar space in 2012. It is now recording the conditions outside of the sun's protective magnetic field , or heliosphere, which blankets our solar system.

Voyager 1 is currently more than 15 billion miles (24 billion kilometers) from Earth, and it takes 22.5 hours for any radio signal to travel from the craft to our planet.

Rusty Lugnuts said: Where are you seeing "FSB"? The closest thing I can see in the article is "FDS". In modern computers, FSB would most likely refer to the Fr0nt S1ide Bu5, though I have no idea if a system as old as Voyagers, let alone engineered so specifically, would have an FSB. (apparently I can't spell out "Fr0nt S1ide Bu5" or my post gets flagged as spam or inappropriate??)

Explorer to swim world’s seven seas to honour grandfather who died with dementia

A n explorer is hoping to achieve two world records by swimming 10 kilometre marathons in the world’s Seven Seas to visit locations his grandfather who died with dementia either visited or was fascinated by.

Louis Alexander is no stranger to taking on mammoth adventures, having rowed the English Channel in May 2022, finished a swim from Europe to Asia in August 2022, and completed seven marathons in the most remote corners of all seven continents in December.

For his latest challenge, he is to swim 10 kilometre marathons in each of the “classical Seven Seas”, starting with the Red Sea in Egypt on June 3.

He will then make his way through the Arabian Sea in Oman , the Aegean Sea in Greece, the Adriatic Sea in Italy, the Black Sea in Turkey and the Mediterranean Sea in Spain, before taking on the final swim in the North Sea in Dover, in mid-July.

Mr Alexander’s grandfather – Captain Rick Taylor, who served in the British Army for 38 years and died in 2019 with dementia – has always been at the heart of his adventures, with this one being no exception.

“The reason I’ve chosen many of the locations for this challenge is because I’m trying to almost retrace his steps a little bit,” the 24-year-old who is based in London told the PA news agency.

“I’ve picked all the locations very specifically on places where he either served in the military, he spent time when he was serving with the United Nations or places he used to talk about and was fascinated by.

“One of the places he was truly fascinated by but never got the opportunity to go to because of his early diagnosis was Egypt, so that’s where I’m going to be starting out.”

Other locations with sentimental connections include Oman, where Captain Taylor spent time when he was in the military.

Mr Alexander made a promise to his grandfather when he was 19 that he would find a cure for dementia and that goal has remained a key component of his feats.

During his running challenge, he carried a letter calling for the Government to invest £16 million in improving dementia diagnostics, to which the Prime Minister replied last week.

“It was amazing for me and my team to be acknowledged for our efforts with the running project,” he said.

“It was really wonderful to see the Prime Minister’s care and commitment to dementia – not just with research – but also with diagnostics.

“In the letter, he said the Government is going to try and get the current number of people diagnosed from one in three to two in three.

“Getting that number to three in three is the ultimate dream, and I’m sure we can get there.”

He said many people have sent him “incredibly heartwarming” messages off the back of the letter, sharing their stories about how dementia has affected them or loved ones.

Mr Alexander also hopes to break two records – to become the youngest person to ever swim the classical Seven Seas, as well as to become the first person in history to run the seven continents and swim the seven seas.

He has been collecting evidence to verify these feats, including data from his runs, which he will send to Guinness World Records.

He will be joined by a support team and said some of the obstacles he is set to face include potentially swimming alongside sharks in the Red Sea and combating temperatures of up to 40C and beyond in Egypt and Oman.

“It’s tough for anyone to swim for up to five hours non-stop potentially, let alone in the heat, let alone as a red head,” he joked.

He has been preparing for “every eventuality” by carrying out practice swims a few times a week, shoulder mobility work and focusing on being as injury resistant as possible.

“I’m not going out there to try and swim the fastest marathon,” he said.

“It’s about survival in these different seas and weather, and getting the marathons done and continuing to spread awareness for dementia and the fight for a cure, to honour my grandfather.”

Money raised from the challenge is to go to Alzheimer’s Research UK, and more information can be found here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/thesevenseas
