Once you have decent power, this is probably the most impactful category for scoring low, as if you can regularly hit to within 10ft you're going to be doing great.
• Short Game: 5 Accuracy/8 Control/8 Recovery. Control 8 and Recovery 7 get you the Gold Pick and Spinner shots, which I much prefer to the Blast and Pitch shots since they have significantly less roll and you can be more accurate. I should note that I use this on Tour mode, but if you play on Pro or Arcade, you can rely on post shot spin instead and invest less here.

It's nearly time to hit the greens in EA Sports PGA Tour, with the new golf game set to transport you to some of the best courses in the world!

Career Mode will play a major role in the title, where you can customise and improve your golfer to take on the biggest names on the tour.

As we approach the new EA Sports PGA Tour release date, more details are emerging for the upcoming game.

The latest is a deep dive trailer for Career Mode, which was revealed at 11am ET / 3pm GMT on Tuesday, 21 March and you can check it out below:

Much of your time in EA Sports PGA Tour will be spent in Career Mode, where you can customise your golfer, improve your game and become the best around!

As stated on the official EA website :

Your career, your way! As your golf game improves, so does your path to becoming a Major champion. Create and customize a golfer, develop your skill set with new Shot Types, gain deeper course knowledge as you play, and learn to attack every hole like a pro.

Available from launch, it is an offline mode, although you will require an online connection to play.

You can compete at big events such as THE PLAYERS Championship and FedExCup Playoffs as you look to add to your trophy collection.

Customise Character

To start your Career Mode you will first design your golfer's appearance with a variety of visual customisations, including accessories and clothing from iconic golf brands.

It's not just your looks which will make your character unique, as you can adjust your swing style by selecting swing animation, swing tempo, preferred shot shape and ball trajectory throughout your career.

Equipment options will also be on offer, where you can play around with club head, shaft, grips and more!

Career Journey

Choose where you want to start your career journey, either as an amateur in one of the top amateur events, on the Korn Ferry Tour, or on the PGA Tour.

As an amateur you’ll be able to play in the U.S. Amateur Championship, Augusta National Women’s Amateur, The Amateur Championship, Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, and Latin American Amateur Championship, culminating in Q-school where you’ll compete for a spot on the Korn Ferry Tour.

After you’ve conquered the amateur championships you’ll have the opportunity to earn an invitation to the Masters and U.S. Open!

When on the PGA Tour you will compete weekly on some of golf's biggest stages, including the major championships, where you can chase your green jacket, a Grand Slam Title, race for the FedExCup and more.

Each tournament has specific field sizes and entry requirements that mirror its real-life counterpart, so you will have to earn your place.

When competing, you can play shot-for-shot against an AI PGA Tour pro using AI Pairings, or turn it off to speed up the round.

Using official ShotLink data, the AI pros will play each course and hole just as they would in real life!

The Season Hub will be your home base during Career Mode, showing you all the calendar events you will encounter week by week.

You can track your career progress and other milestones as you plan your way to silverware.

Certain quests are available for you to fulfil in the Career Mastery tab, such as winning majors and finishing in the top 10 spots, and by completing them you can develop new skills and unlock new shot types.

Skill Progression and Shot Types

An RPG-style progression is used throughout Career Mode, where you build your golfer's skill over time by earning XP and Skill Points.

Use those to upgrade categories such as Power, Driving, Approach, Short Game and Putting to unlock new shot types and upgrades to tackle more difficult courses.

By completing different challenges, you can earn and control the specs of your ball and club, which offer customisable performance characteristics across the areas of Power, Accuracy, Control and Recovery.

Create up to five different bag loadouts to suit different courses and optimise your play.

Players will have a variety of attributes that can be influenced by completing quests throughout Career Mode. Use skill points in each of the five skill categories to unlock new shot types and upgrade your golfer's attributes.

• Power: Upgrading this attribute adds more power and influences swing speed at tee off.
• Accuracy: The higher the accuracy, the smaller the mishit and window sizes become.
• Control: The higher the player’s control, the more accurately they'll be able to influence grip, shot shaping accuracy and ball spin.
• Carry distance penalty
• The size of the range shown in the carry distance penalty window
• Natural spin penalty
• Shot shaping penalty
• Spin control penalty
• Mishit tolerance window penalty
• Penalty for off-plane swings and mishits

The EA Sports PGA Tour release date has been pushed back slightly, now coming on Friday, 7 April 2023 after yet another delay to the already delayed original release date!

The launch week coincides with the Masters Tournament, with Early Access starting on Tuesday, 4 April .

The worldwide release was originally set for Friday, 24 March , with early access beginning on Tuesday, 21 March .

Pre-orders are available with a confirmed three-day early access period for those who purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game.

EA Sports PGA Tour, as is to be expected, allows players to make their own custom golfer. This custom character can also be improved by leveling up and acquiring skills.

Not only does this improve gameplay, but it also allows you to customize your character to fit your preferred playstyle.

In this guide, we’ll show you how you can get Experience and Skill Points easily!

How to Get XP and Skill Points in EA Sports PGA Tour

The main way to get XP in the game is to complete the many many challenges . Challenges are a sort of sub-mission that require you complete specific scenarios

There are thousands of challenges, all of which provide many useful rewards such as XP. All of them have 3 different objectives of increasing difficulty.

Completing all of the objectives will earn you a 3-star ranking which grants the most rewards possible. You can retry challenges anytime you wish to attempt a better ranking.

The first Challenges you want to do are the PGA Coaching challenges. These start out with the very basics of golfing, basically acting as a tutorial. This makes them a quick and easy way to get XP early.

Completing a set of challenges will also allow you to claim extra rewards on top of what each challenge gives you. These are picked up from the Rewards section of the main menu.

For example, the reward for Shot Making Challenges will give you a whooping 30,000 experience! It will also give you some new equipment to use.

Once you get enough XP and level up your golfer, you will also earn Skill Points (SP).

How to Use Skill Points

SP can be used in the Golfer tab of the main menu. Here, you get to upgrade 5 different skill sets: Power, Driving, Approach, Short Game, and Putting.

Choose whichever ones best fit your playstyle and needs.

Don’t forget to spend your SP once you get them! You will get access to new shot types as you reach certain skill milestones.

That’s basically how you can get XP quickly and how to spend your SP. Make good use of this to power up your custom golfer and become a new golfing star in the MyCareer mode.

EA recently released a major update for PGA Tour titled Season 8: Patch Notes 9. With the update arrived new features, bug fixes, and gameplay enhancements. One significant change made was the reward system for skill points. Below, I’ll discuss the new reward system and what it means for golfers.

EA Sports PGA Tour: Has the Reward System for Skill Points Changed?

Yes, the rewards system for skill points has changed drastically . Instead of 200 XPs being the threshold for one Skill Point, the new limit has been set to a low 50 XPs.

This means it will take golfers, new and old, a shorter time to register a Skill Point or more, and they will be able to upgrade their self-made Pro quicker. However, despite the great news that it won’t take long to level up your Pro, PGA Tour players will still be unable to max out their Pro.

Why Has the Rewards System Been Modified in PGA Tour?

The reward system has been modified in EA Sports PGA Tour due to the massive number of gameplay changes that came with Season 8. The putting system was changed, and some of the shot types in the game were modified. Recently updated in PGA Tour was the following:

• Blast Shot,
• Finesse Shot,
• Knock Down Shot, and
• Stinger Shot.

I’m extremely in favor of the reward system changes made to the EA Sports PGA Tour. It maintains a uniqueness amongst all golfers in the game, existing Pros and Pros created by players. 

It also allows your Pro to excel in specific areas of the game, but not all. This keeps the game of golf exciting and forces you to play to your strengths. As we’ve come to see in real-time, no golfer, or a very select few, has the perfect all-round game. And that’s the way it should stay.

EA Sports has gone back to the drawing board with their latest PGA Tour offering. This time, they’ve centered everything around giving players the most authentic experience possible. And in order to make that worthwhile, they’ve put plenty of effort into the revamped Career Mode. Just about everything a player does throughout the game will help shape their career. That’s why we’re going to walk you through how to upgrade your pro fast in EA Sports PGA Tour.

Upgrading Your Pro Quickly in EA Sports PGA Tour

Regardless of whether you start your Career in the Amateur Championship, Korn Ferry, or go straight for the PGA Tour, upgrading your pro fast in EA Sports PGA Tour will primarily come down to one thing: XP gained . So if you’re looking to make the most out of your Career progress early, you’ll want to bank XP. You can do that by placing high across various tournaments.

If you begin on the Amateur circuit, you can still qualify for the Masters and US Open early on. From there, you’ll be able to earn a lot of XP early depending on how you fare in those tournaments. However, your pro isn’t just limited to those events, as you’ll have to go through Q-School and the Korn Ferry circuit as well in order to eventually earn your PGA Tour card. Every step of the way, you’ll be able to earn XP through Tournaments, Challenges, and Quest Objectives.

Above all else, playing and performing well in Tournaments gives you the best chance to maximize your XP. That said, XP isn’t the only thing players will earn as they complete rounds. With XP comes Skill Points that can be put into various aspects of your game.

There are four main categories and multiple sub-categories to navigate, so choose wisely in terms of what you want to focus on. Will you opt for more of a finesse style? Then by all means, work on that Control and Accuracy. Or, do you want to be more of a grip-it-and-rip-it type of pro? Then maybe you’ll want to max out your Power early on. How often you play comes down to the player as well, as you can choose to play full rounds or focus on Quick Play, which offers a selection of holes to focus on rather than playing the entire round.
