Open Air Konzert

War eine rundum gelungene Veranstaltung. Die Hooters gaben vom ersten bis zum letzten Song alles. Das Publikum war vom ersten Song an voll dabei. Der Sound, die Lokation, waren erstklassik. Das Wetter war super gut. War mein drittes Hooters konzert. Ich hoffe sehr, das Sie bald mal wieder nach Deutschland kommen.

Na, da zeigten The Hooters, dass sie nicht nur FolkRock machen können. Super gerockt mit Reggae Einflüssen. Das war ein Konzert, das man nicht verpasst haben durfte. Einfach super.

They made the night!!

Just saw them last night at IronstoneVineyards in CA..... High energy, charismatic, got the crowd on its feet! They sound wonderful and the new songs have the same great sound. I only wish i had a little more.room for dancing but what a treat to hear them live!!! If they come around again, i will be there!!! Thank you for so many years of music !!❤️

Back to the 80's

2nd time I saw the Hoots in Cape May, love the venue and the sound was awesome! I was going to see the Hooters at St. Joes and Drexel college's back in the early 80's. Good times, makes this old man feel young again! Hope they're here again next Summer!

Awesome Performance

Saw them in Cape May at the Convention Center. Was not familiar with many of their songs but I was quite impressed. All of them very talented musicians. Really enjoyed them.

Introduction

The Hooters are a rock band from Philadelphia, United States. Band has been active since 1980. Despite being active for almost 40 years now, they released only 6 studio albums and 1 EP. I hope that other fans of the band won’t fault me for saying that they released “only” 6 studio albums. All their songs are great, but one would hope that a band that’s been with us for as long as The Hooters have been, that we would see more albums. Then again, maybe if they would release albums more regularly their music would end up being more watered done. It’s a double edged sword wanting more music from your favorite bands.

What I especially like about The hooters is that they have toured extensively throughout US and Europe and I’m thankful for that to them. As a resident of the UK, it’s not easy to travel to their shows in America. Visiting their gigs in UK and elsewhere in Europe is much more feasible for me. Another thing that I like about the band is that they stuck together long enough to tour in the age of good quality video drones so that we can enjoy in concert footage of theirs recorded with one of these bad boys.

This website is made by one lone fan of The Hooters, as a tribute to this great band, whose avid fan I’ve been for over 20 years. Their music has really helped me through some bad times and I hope that other people will discover their music, to help them through their own bad times. On this website my plan is to post a bit about band history, their music & discography, news and updates, social updates, and last but not least, various media, like photos and concert footage that I like.

Music created by the band can best be described as a transcendental mix of rock, folk music, reggae and ska. Not a lot of good bands exist out there who dare to mix up these types of music and I have to say that “The Hooters” are doing a bang up job of it. Their earlier records is where the band was still searching their sound, their groove, so to speak. If you ask me it wasn’t until their first official album release, “Nervous Night” that the band sound has been cemented.

This video from a concert at Tower Theatre in Philadelphia, from 1986, is right about the time that the band was starting getting into its own. During those times there obviously weren’t any full HD camera, affordable video drones or anything like that, to capture a better recording. Video posted above is actually taken from a VHS, so quality isn’t all that great. Still this video allows us to see what the band looked like at their beginnings, when playing live. Sharing that kind of stuff is what we’re going to be focusing on here on the website.

Band Lineup

Eric bazilian.

Eric Bazilian was born in Philadelphia. His mother was a concert pianist so it’s no wonder that he started playing piano at the age of 5. In the band, Eric plays the guitar, but here is a multi-instrumentalist. His uncle was the one who taught him how to play the guitar at age 10. Eric is one of the founding members of the band, alongside Rob Hyman.

Robert Hyman plays the keyboards, accordion and melodica in the band. He also sings lead vocals next to Eric. Rob, Eric and the bands producer Rick Chertoff met at University of Pennsylvania where Rob earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. Rob played the piano since age 4 and he was in two bands before eventually forming The Hooters, “Wax” and “Baby Grand”.

David Uosikkinen

One of the first members that Rob and Eric recruited after deciding to launch “The Hooters” was a drummer, David Uosikkinen. David actually started playing the trumpet at an early age but decided to switch to drums after trying to play drums on his neighbors set later on. His parents are Finnish immigrants and before “The Hooters” Dave played in “The Kooks”, “The Torpedoes” and several others.

John Lilley

Backing guitar, vocals, mandolin, dobro and keyboards, according to need, is what John Lilley plays in the band. He has been with “The Hooters” since 1983, after leaving his previous band, “The Heroes”, another popular Philadelphia band. John plays the guitar since 9 years old. He got his inspiration for music after watching “The Beatles” play on the Ed Sullivan Show.

Fran Smith Jr.

Last but not least we’ve come to Mr. Smith. No, not agent Smith, it’s Mr. Fran Smith Jr, who plays the bass guitar. Fran is another musician in “The Hooters” who was influenced by “The Beatles”. He actually played as Paul McCartney in Beatlemania, the Broadway tribute to the great band. He released some solo albums as well, next to his gig with “The Hooters”, if you are interested.

Associated Acts

Just to show that “The Hooters” had a huge influence on todays music scene, I thought it would be a good idea to show just what kind of associated acts they had.

Starting with the biggest names, we have artists like Cindy Lauper and Joan Osborn. Band, Eric Bazilian to be more precise, actually wrote the famous “One of Us” song which was made popular by Joan Osborn. Many different performers have collaborated and continue to collaborate with our favorite band.

One thing that’s missing is a proper DVD release of a live concert, or maybe even something in higher quality. I mean there are plenty of cheap HD camera drones that can be used to capture decent quality footage. Hopefully we will see a good quality release of some sort in the near future.

Summer Tour 2018

“The Hooters” plan on playing a small tour of the US and Europe this summer, starting near the end of June in the New Jersey. A total of 15 shows are going to be played on the tour, 2 in the US and 13 across the pond. The band will cover the usual suspects, Norway, Germany and Switzerland. Keep in mind that the tour schedule can change as the band finds new venues or existing ones change.

Band will start the summer tour by doing two gigs in the US first. They are going to be hitting up two locations in New Jersey, Ocean City to be more precise. After that they are switching to Europe.

After doing two gigs in the US (which too small a number of gigs if you ask me) the band is moving to Europe, for the rest of the tour. They are going to play in Germany mostly, 11 locations in total.

I've managed to stay with FitFlex 3 times a week, for over 6 months now, and I owe it all to the classes that make you fall in love with the process.

Norway tour

Switzerland also gets just 1 show, on July 30th, in Pratteln at the famous Z7. Gig in Switzerland will take place at the very end of their tour. Most of the shows are played throughout Germany.

“The Hooters” have this tendency to focus on Germany during their shows. It’s no wonder really, they are very popular there, just like David Hasselhoff. Since I’m based in the UK, I usually have to travel to see their shows, but I don’t mind. I like to think of traveling as an added bonus to seeing their shows. It would be great if they added more shows to their US tour, the US audience is somehow always ignored by the band.

The Hooters (formed in 1978) is an American rock band known for incorporating elements of rock and roll, ska, and folk music into their varied output, hailing from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.

Having met at the University of Pennsylvania in 1971, Eric Bazilian and Rob Hyman soon formed the Philadelphia-based outfit Baby Grand. Alongside local singer David Kagan and producer Rick Chertoff, Baby Grand issued two albums in the late ‘70s “Baby Grand” and “Ancient Medicine” on Arista Records. Following the release of “Ancient Medicine” the group folded and The Hooters were born, coining their moniker after the nickname of the keyboard harmonica, melodica. With the addition of guitarist John Lilly, bassist Rob Miller, and drummer David Uosikkinen, the band developed a devoted local following, known for their brand of ska and folk-infused rock.

The Hooters issued their debut studio album “Amore” on the independent Antenna Records in 1983. Whilst failing to cause a stir, Hyman and Bazilian were becoming highly respected composers and session musicians, and made large contributions to Cyndi Lauper’s “She’s So Unusual” in 1983. Two years later the band made their breakthrough with their major-label debut “Nervous Night” released on Columbia Records. Aided by the singles “All You Zombies”, “And We Danced, “Day by Day”, and “Where Do the Children Go”, the record peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard 200, later earning double-platinum certification. The album was supported by an extensive two-year period of touring after which the group returned to the studio to create something far-removed from previous releases.

1987’s follow-up “One Way Home” secured Gold certification shorlty after release and peaked at No. 27 on the Billboard 200. The record also proved popular in Switzerland where it charted No. 14, spawning the singles “Johnny B”, “Satellite”, and “Karla with a K”. The band’s last release on Columbia, “Zig Zag” arrived in 1989, after which The Hooters signed with MCA to release “Out of Body” in 1993. The following year the group issued their first live album “The Hooters Live”, recorded in Germany, and the second part of their greatest hits “Greatest Hits Vol. 2”.

A hiatus subsequently ensued with members Hyman and Bazilian working with the likes of Sophie B. Hawkins and Jon Bon Jovi, before returning in 2007 to release the full-length “Time Stand Still”. The live album “Both Sides Live” followed in 2008 on Hooters Music, following which the band issued the EP “Five By Five” in 2010.

Live-Bewertungen

The second The Hooters began their set was incredible and memorable. The stage, the audience and everything in sight, was completely pitch black. I could hardly see my hands when I stuck them in front of my face, it was really that dark.

All of a sudden, haunting, alien-like organ pulses bleeped in, and the crowd went absolutely wild! The bass, drums, guitar, and synthesizer slammed into the mix, and the track "All You Zombies" was in full swing. The guitar sounded beautiful, the synths sounded other worldly and spacey, but most of all, the vocals were catchy, fun, and had a lovely 80s nostalgia going on that was very fun to hear and had me dreaming about the old days, almost immediately. The next track started, and the crowd, already dancing, began cheering. Obviously familiar with the track, as soon as the guitar screeched in to open the song, the crowd began singing along with the new wave bliss.

The Hooters brought their A-game for this performance and you could really tell by the awesome lighting, jamming, and tracklist. The Hooters are a live band that anyone who has an appreciation for new wave, '80s quirk, and dance music would enjoy.

It seemed by the mid-90s that American rock and new wave group The Hooters had run its course after experiencing depleted commercial success and general lack of interest in the music. However after a short hiatus the group reformed at the turn of the century and headed back out onto the road with renewed purpose and a changed mentality to the live format and performance style. Their success across Europe meant that when they originally came together has held since the 90s and they still find fans buying out the tickets when they come to visit.

There is nothing that will energise a band more than when they look out to a packed venue of cheering fans. As this is the case, opener 'I'm Alive' seems to have more charisma and vigour than most remembered. The energy continues as the audience goes completely wild for the group onstage. They punctuate the setlist with hits including 'All The Zombies' and 'Hanging On a Heartbeat' which go over tremendously well. As the show begins to wind up towards a close, it would seem Hooters really do not want to leave as they reluctantly take their bows after 'And We Danced' and 'Give the Music Back'.

Pro Golfer Disrobes to Hit Shot After Landing in Hazard

Weather conditions in Schilde, Belgium, for the second round of the DP World Tour’s Soudal Open weren’t great. Temperatures struggled to crack 60 degrees as clouds and rain showers lingered. It wasn’t the kind day where you’d want to take off your shirt and soak up some rays. But one player did choose to strip down in the middle of his round.

Louis de Jager’s tee shot on the par-4 13th just narrowly avoided splashing down in a pond, instead landing on the marshy shore—inside the red hazard stake, but playable.

The golfer weighed his options and decided he’d play the ball where it lied. But de Jager knew there was a good chance he’d kick up a fair amount of mud when he made contact with the ball. So, not wanting to get his shirt all dirty for the rest of his chilly round, de Jager decided to play the shot shirtless.

That would have been comical enough, but the South African also decided for some reason to play with his belt undone. The result was a scene usually reserved for weekend hackers who’ve had one too many.

de Jager managed to knock the ball back into the safety of the fairway and then hit a fantastic third shot to within seven feet of the hole to give himself a good opportunity to save par. He missed the putt, though, and had to settle for bogey.

His round didn’t get any more normal after that, unfortunately. His tee shot on the next hole found the water, although he was able to save par after another close approach. de Jager then birdied his next three holes before hitting his tee shot on No. 18 out of bounds and settling for a double bogey.

He finished with a 2-under 69 and is 6-under for the tournament. He’s currently in a tie for 23rd place . But at least his shirt is clean.

An autistic Texas teen is facing permanent blindness after someone he called a friend allegedly hurled cleaning powder in his eyes.

“Kids with autism don’t always know how to make good friend choices,” Amy Morgan, the victim’s mother, told ABC 13.

Her son Brody, 18, was walking with two other friends through their Houston suburb neighborhood last week when their horseplaying turned violent, police allege.

The trio frantically returned to her house with her screaming son, whose eyes were clearly injured — but the boys tried to hide what exactly substance was burning Brody’s eyes, leading Amy Morgan to suspect it was salt.

She tried to flush his eyes with saline and water, but nothing worked, and it wasn’t until she rushed him to the hospital that she got the full story.

According to police, one of the boys had stolen a package from a nearby home during their walk and ripped into it, finding a “container filled with a powder substance.”

That’s when 17-year-old Branden Jolly allegedly opened the bottle and tossed the contents onto Morgan’s shirt.

Morgan shoved Jolly aside, prompting the teenager to toss the contents again — this time in Morgan’s face, according to court documents.

Morgan was rushed to the local hospital’s burn unit and was treated for chemical burns to his face and eyes, police said.

Doctors would later discover that the chemical in Brody’s eyes was a drain de-clogger — which was clearly described on the outside of the container, records obtained by ABC 13 show.

Jolly — described by police as “one of [Morgan’s] friends” — was arrested two days later and hit with felony charges for injuring a disabled person.

The teenager’s mother told the outlet that she believed the whole incident was an accident and that the chemicals fell out of her son’s hands after Brody “attacked him.”

“Our family is very distraught over the details of this case, for both of our families. I’m very saddened by the entire event, and heart goes out to Brody and his family. I believe this incident was NOT an act of malicious intent by my son to harm his friend but an accident resulting from the choices made by all parties involved,” Jolly’s family said in a statement.

Morgan’s path to recovery is unclear — his injuries are described as severe and unpredictable.

“The kind of chemicals they were can still continue to break down,” Amy Morgan said

I f you want to see Taylor Swift live, you better speak now. The singer continues the European portion of her Eras Tour, but it's nearly done with only a month remaining. Until then, she has Germany to see.

Swift will perform three cities – Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg and Munich – during her 11-day stay. She'll give seven total performances throughout the country, giving fans ample opportunities to attend an Eras Tour concert.

That being said, the popstar is known for her sold-out shows and expensive ticket prices, as her remaining concerts in the U.S. cost $2,000. Luckily for Germany, that's not the case. And, there are still tickets available for each of her shows.

Rocking black hair, bleached eyebrows and a white ensemble that she said was meant to resemble a car part , Lady Gaga debuted her Gaga Chromatica Ball concert special in her signature style Thursday night, with a premiere screening in Los Angeles for her fans.

At the premiere event, Gaga — who made a quick change after the red carpet into a black outfit featuring a sparkling mask — sat down for a short Q&A with Access Hollywood ‘s Scott Evans ahead of the screening. Guests were told in advance it would be a standing-room-only event and dancing was encouraged during the film.

“I’m so incredibly lucky to be here with all of you. I’m so excited,” Gaga told the crowd of several hundred fans. “This was such a special time. This tour went on during a time that people didn’t think that you could tour [amid the pandemic] and stadiums were packed all over the world and they were sold out, all dressed up and dancing and singing. I’m just so excited for you all to see what we made up close.”

The star revealed during the chat that she “did five shows with COVID,” explaining, “I shared it with everyone on my team. I said, ‘I don’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable at work and you don’t have to perform and you don’t have to work that day, but I’m going to do the show’ because I just didn’t want to let all the fans down. And the way that I saw it also is like the fans were all putting themselves in harm’s way every day coming to the show.”

She also discussed the show’s unique fashion and stage design, choreography — joking “this was the first tour I’ve ever done in flats” — and “Babylon” being the most difficult song to perform.

Of choosing to release this specific tour as a concert film, Gaga explained, “I felt like the Chromatica Ball was a time where I took myself to the next level and it was something worth documenting and seeing for people that I love — not that I didn’t love my other tours. I’m sure we all can relate to that feeling of when you personally feel proud of something is really different from when everyone around you feels that way.”

“I think personal passion is really kind of a private experience,” she continued. “I’m sure there’s lots of tours and albums that I’ve been a part of that you all would have loved to have seen up close, and I’m sorry for the ones that you didn’t have. But I hope that you know that what you’re about to watch, I stand by this with everything.”

Following the Q&A, fans danced it out to the film, while also stopping to take pictures at an accompanying exhibit featuring many of her costumes from the tour. Gaga Chromatica Ball premieres Saturday on HBO and will be available to stream on Max.

PGA TOUR winner Grayson Murray passes away at 30

Grayson Murray, who won his second PGA TOUR title at this year’s Sony Open in Hawaii, passed away Saturday.

"We were devastated to learn – and are heartbroken to share – that PGA TOUR player Grayson Murray passed away this morning. I am at a loss for words,” PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan said. “The PGA TOUR is a family, and when you lose a member of your family, you are never the same. We mourn Grayson and pray for comfort for his loved ones.

“I reached out to Grayson’s parents to offer our deepest condolences, and during that conversation, they asked that we continue with tournament play,” Commissioner Monahan continued. “They were adamant that Grayson would want us to do so. As difficult as it will be, we want to respect their wishes.”

Grief counselors were made available at the venues for this week’s PGA TOUR and Korn Ferry Tour events. Commissioner Monahan, who traveled from TOUR headquarters in Florida to the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, said he was "devastated" by the loss.

Grayson's parents, Eric and Terry Murray, said in a statement Sunday that the cause of death was suicide .

"Was Grayson loved? The answer is yes," his parents wrote. "By us, his brother Cameron, his sister Erica, all of his extended family, by his friends, by his fellow players and – it seems – by many of you who are reading this. He was loved and he will be missed."

Murray, 30, was a standout golfer from his youth. He won three consecutive Callaway Junior World Championships (2006-08) and was the top-ranked golfer in his age group. He made his first cut on the Korn Ferry Tour at age 16, becoming the second-youngest player ever to do so. After stints at Wake Forest University, East Carolina University and Arizona State University, he got the break he needed in 2016 when he was given a sponsor exemption into the Korn Ferry Tour event near his hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina. He finished inside the top 10 at that event, the Rex Hospital Open, which qualified him for another start. When he posted another top 10 at the BMW Charity Pro-Am, his professional career took off. He concluded his season with a victory at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship to finish second on the Korn Ferry Tour money list and earn full status on the PGA TOUR for the 2016-17 season. The win came a week before his 23rd birthday.

Murray wasted little time establishing himself on golf’s biggest stage as a rookie. He won the 2017 Barbasol Championship while still just 23 years old. His final-round 68 not only secured a one-shot victory, but also solidified a two-year exemption through the 2019 PGA TOUR season. He finished 66th in the FedExCup and earned nearly $1.5 million.

Grayson struggled for the next few seasons on the PGA TOUR. In 2023, he found his game again on the Korn Ferry Tour; he notched two victories – the Advent Health Championship in Kansas City and the Simmons Bank Open outside of Nashville – to finish fourth on that tour’s points list and earn a spot back onto the PGA TOUR for the following season.

Murray opened the 2024 season with a playoff victory at the Sony Open in Hawaii. He made a clutch up and down on the 72nd hole for a birdie to force a playoff. Then he sank a 40-foot birdie putt on the first extra hole to defeat Byeong Hun An and Keegan Bradley. He reached a career-high 46th in the Official World Golf Ranking after that victory.

MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Nicki Minaj’s concert in Manchester scheduled for Saturday night was postponed after police in the Netherlands discovered marijuana in her bags as she was preparing to leave the country.

Promoter Live Nation said the performance will be rescheduled and tickets will be honored.

“Despite Nicki’s best efforts to explore every possible avenue to make tonight’s show happen, the events of today have made it impossible,” the promoter said in a statement. “We are deeply disappointed by the inconvenience this has caused.”

Minaj tweeted earlier Saturday that she was stopped at the Amsterdam airport as she was about to board a plane for the concert in Manchester. Police told her they found marijuana in her bags, and it would have to be weighed, she tweeted. Cannabis is illegal in the Netherlands, but it is tolerated for recreational use.

Robert Van Kapel, a spokesperson for the Netherlands military police, said a 41-year-old American woman had been arrested for exporting “soft drugs.” He did not identify the woman or elaborate on the type of drugs in question. Police later tweeted that they fined the woman and released her.

Minaj, who is 41 years old, tweeted that she believes police just wanted to make her late for her concert in Manchester.

“Told you, it’s to try to make me late so that they can write negative stories. Jealousy is a disease. You know the rest,” Minaj tweeted.

Her representatives didn’t immediately respond to messages Saturday.

The Trinidadian-born rapper is best known for her hits “Super Freaky Girl,” “Anaconda” and “Starships.” She has been nominated for 12 Grammy awards over the course of her career. The Manchester concert is part of her “Pink Friday 2” tour, which includes stops in Paris, Poland, Germany, Romania and Switzerland.
