Flatland Cavalry announces two shows at Buddy Holly Hall

Flatland Cavalry has announced their Wandering Star Tour. The tour will be at The Buddy Holly...

LUBBOCK, Texas (NEWS RELEASE) - Flatland Cavalry is breaking out into a gallop. After years of hot trotting across their native Texas, the country outfit is primed for a breakout with the release of their third full-length album, the sonically sprawling and wistfully written Welcome to Countryland. Flatland Cavalry has announced their Wandering Star Tour . The tour will be at The Buddy Holly Hall for two nights, November 7 and 8 at 8:00pm . Tickets go on sale this Friday, May 17 at 10am CST .

The Texas sextet––bandleader and chief lyricist Cleto Cordero, guitarist Reid Dillon, bassist Jonathan Saenz, drummer Jason Albers, fiddle player Wesley Hall, and utility instrumentalist Adam Gallegos––continue to embrace their trademark sound while further pushing into the wild unknown. When it was time to embark on recording a new album, resting on their laurels was simply out of the realm of possibilities.

Following the release of 2019′s critically-acclaimed Homeland Insecurity and their 2016 full-length debut Humble Folks , they’ve been on a healthy trajectory rising through the country ranks. After years of working with Lubbock stalwart Scott Faris in the friendly confines of Amusement Park Studios, Flatland decided a change of scenery was necessary. Despite some hesitation and a mix of emotions, they instantly knew recording at Nashville’s Sound Emporium Studio A with rising producer Jake Gear was the right move.

Since its release, Welcome To Countryland has garnered critical praise from Rolling Stone, Wall Street Journal, Holler, Whiskey Riff, BrooklynVegan and many other outlets. The band concluded their hugely successful Welcome To Countryland Tour by selling out Billy Bob’s Texas in December 2021, and kicked off 2022 with the release of the Far Out West Sessions. These stripped-down, one-take acoustic performance videos of their 2021 hits recorded on-site in the vast deserts and mountain ranges of Far West Texas were an instant hit with fans, so the band released the tapes on streaming platforms and embarked on the Far Out West Tour.

With tour dates from Seattle to London, festival debuts from C2C to Stagecoach, and coveted support slots with Luke Combs, Eric Church and more, the Far Out West Tour brought Flatland Cavalry to new corners of the globe. As 2022 neared its end they surprise-released the highly anticipated single “Mountain Song” and announced an EP to arrive in the Fall.

With more new music on the horizon, 17 upcoming stadium shows with Luke Combs, and a stacked touring calendar for 2024, Flatland Cavalry is approaching global influence in the Country & Folk music world.

'if' only these imaginary friends are sweet, but could have been so much more.

Bea (Cailey Fleming) and Blue (voiced by Steve Carell) in IF. Paramount Pictures hide caption

Bea (Cailey Fleming) and Blue (voiced by Steve Carell) in IF.

The third installment in John Krasinski's blockbuster horror franchise A Quiet Place will soon employ noise-triggered monsters to scare audiences shoutless. But the filmmaker is starting the summer with sweeter monsters — the sweetest, really — in IF .

Which doesn't mean they don't cause 12-year-old Bea ( Walking Dead's Cailey Fleming) to faint right away the first time she sees them — though in fairness, she's got a lot on her mind. Having already lost her mom to cancer, she's moving in with her grandma for a bit while her dad's in the hospital awaiting surgery.

Still, when wouldn't encountering a giant plush critter in the apartment upstairs be startling, even if he turns out to be a sweetheart voiced by Steve Carell? It's an imaginary friend (an "IF," in his parlance) of a kid who's long forgotten about him — and who, being colorblind, named him "Blue" even though he's purple.

Also up there is Blossom (voiced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge), a life-size ballerina doll, and the apartment's harried resident, Cal (Ryan Reynolds), the only person besides Bea who seems able to see IFs.

Actor John Krasinski Takes Stock Of His 'Lottery-Ticket Life'

Movie Interviews

Actor john krasinski takes stock of his 'lottery-ticket life'.

Bea has been trying to be very grown up for her dad, played by director Krasinski. When she visits him at the hospital, he starts dancing with his I.V. pole and cracking jokes, and she has to tell him to dial things back a bit. As the film goes on, you may be tempted to echo that with regard to his directing, but things are certainly lively as the IFs explain that they've started a matchmaking agency to help fellow imaginary friends find new kids. Bea volunteers to help, and is soon introduced to a whole lot of critters – unicorns, dragons, even a flaming marshmallow — at an IF retirement home in Coney Island.

All of which gives Krasinski an excuse to call in an army of digital animators, first to bring life to imaginary critters voiced by his A-list Hollywood buds, including George Clooney, Awkwafina, Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Jon Stewart, Steve Carell, and the late Lou Gossett Jr. in a warmly avuncular turn as a supervising teddy bear. And then to make the walls and floors of the retirement home morph and flip as if they're just so many pixels.

Listen Carefully: The Tense 'Quiet Place' Sequel Speaks To Our Present Time

Listen Carefully: The Tense 'Quiet Place' Sequel Speaks To Our Present Time

At which point, if you're like me, you may start wanting something a little more solid to hold onto — like, say, a plot that holds up, or even that just holds still. This one jumps around as much as the IFs themselves, at first linking them to new kids, then to their now-grown-up original kids, with little logic, and less explanation.

Along the way, some intriguing issues are raised — about wanting to return to childhood, about growing out of childhood, and about dealing with loss.

But mostly the filmmakers detour, decorate and digitize their story rather than telling it, and that doesn't mesh well with the real-world stuff — dad's surgery, for instance, and Bea's wandering all over Brooklyn without her grandma seeming to notice. And yes, I know: IF is a kid-flick, but it still needs grounding. We're in Brooklyn, not Willy Wonkaland.

Secret Friends

Hidden Brain

Secret friends: tapping into the power of imagination.

Also, star voices and digital wizardry notwithstanding, IF 's IFs feel generic, especially when they're stealing focus from the live performers. Grandma, for instance. No filmmaker who has actress Fiona Shaw on screen needs special effects.

Krasinski, in fact, clearly knows that. He's crafted a lovely moment where Bea puts a ballet record – the "Adagio of Spartacus and Phrygia" — on the turntable, and Grandma stands listening to it, bathed in twilight at a window, with her back to the camera. She's remembering the dancer she was as a child, and as the music rises, her right hand does too ... just so. And in that lovely, unforced gesture, you realize all the other things Krasinski's sweet little kid flick might have been ... IF only.

After Visiting Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, I Figured Out Why Disney Should Have Seen The Galactic Starcruiser's Failure Coming

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge was proof that the Galactic Starcruiser was doomed.

This month marks five years since Disneyland’s version of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened to the public . The land was something new for Disney Parks. Not only was it the single largest expansion of Disneyland since the park’s opening, but it was an entirely new sort of land; one that asked guests to not only enjoy Star Wars , but to experience the land as if they were inside the world of the films by visiting a planet in the Star Wars universe.

Years later, Walt Disney Imagineering would give us one of the most incredible pieces of themed entertainment ever conceived, the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. It took everything that Galaxy’s Edge did and pumped it up to new levels of immersion. On paper, the experience looked amazing, but it was ultimately a failure, with the Starcruiser closing after less than two years .

I was one of the people able to preview Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge early when it first opened at Disneyland and experienced the land the way it was originally conceived. I’ve been back numerous times since then, but on a recent trip, I spent a bit more time there than I had in recent years, and realized that the first Disney Star Wars theme park experience was all the evidence anybody needed that the second one wasn’t going to work.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Tried To Immerse Guests In The World Of Star Wars

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge wasn’t the first Disney theme park land to be dedicated to a single IP, but it took the concept started by Pandora: The World of Avatar and raised it to a new level. Rather than creating a world that guests knew from the films, the idea was to make the theme park land a new place where guests could create their own Star Wars story.

Galaxy’s Edge is set on Batuu, a planet on the Outer Rim of the galaxy far, far away, and one created specifically for the theme parks. In addition to having a location in space, it also had a location in time. The world was set in between the events of Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker . Only characters from the new trilogy could be found in the attractions or wandering the land.

Beyond that, Batuu was given its own characters, as Cast Members working in the land were people working on Batuu. The items for sale in the shops were not Star Wars -branded merchandise items, they were toys and clothes that might be sold to a person living in that world. Approaching Oga’s Cantina the hostess might greet you with the words “Bright suns,” the traditional “Hello” of Batuu. One cast member stopped me to warn me about the lightsaber I built , to be sure I knew the First Order might arrest me if they knew I had it.

Stormtroopers inside Rise of the Resistance

Guests Ultimately Weren’t Interested In Living A Star Wars Adventure

It didn’t take too long for a lot of the ideas that made Galaxy’s Edge different to fade away. The food items at Docking Bay 7, the major dining location, which had been given unique Star Wars -style names, saw changes very quickly. It seemed most people were either confused on what Tip-Yip even was (chicken) or they just thought it was silly ordering that.

CINEMABLEND NEWSLETTER

Your Daily Blend of Entertainment News

As I wandered through Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on a recent trip to Disneyland , just taking in the land in a way I hadn’t in quite a long time, I began to realize how much of those little details had faded away. Nobody greeted me with "Bright suns." When I grabbed a drink at Oga’s Cantina, nobody acted like I was getting a table in a wretched hive of scum and villainy, they just made sure I knew I couldn’t stay for more than 45 minutes. Characters walking the land are now from all over the Star Wars timeline .

The old Galaxy’s Edge isn’t entirely gone. You’ll occasionally see a Cast Member as Rey hiding from stormtroopers, whether or not anybody sees what she’s doing. I overheard some people in Dok Ondar’s looking at lightsabers. The woman working the counter gave it her Batuu best, talking about the hilts as if they were real antiques, or were at least replicas of “real” things, but the family she was speaking with wasn’t interested in playing the game.

I don’t even blame the guests for this. Not everybody is interested in LARPing on vacation. Most of us don't “play pretend” as adults, and even if that’s something you’re interested in, when you’re surrounded by others who aren’t in on it, it makes it difficult. But if there aren’t enough people in Galaxy’s Edge on any given day who are willing to play, how did anybody think the Galactic Starcruiser was going to work?

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser characters

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Cost Too Much, But More Importantly It Asked Too Much

The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser took the concepts of play from Galaxy’s Edge and turned the dial up to 11. Now guests would be involved in a multi-day Star Wars story that took place around them whether they were there or not. The places you ate and slept were part of the story, and guests were encouraged to play along, interacting with Cast Members in costume as if they were all on the same intergalactic journey.

I never had the full experience, but I did get to preview the Galactic Starcruiser , and I was amazed by everything I saw. It was the most impressive piece of themed entertainment I have ever seen. Many have said the price was a problem, and to be sure, it was an expensive experience. The price was the reason I never went back, as I didn’t have that kind of cash. But that was only a secondary influence on the real problem.

To be clear, the price was probably exactly what it needed to be, as I believe Galactic Starcruiser was likely the most expensive square footage to run at all of Walt Disney World. But the price limited the pool of guests in two ways. Not only did you have to be able to afford the Starcruiser, you had to be able to afford it and believe that what the Starcruiser offered was an experience that sounded like fun.

As Galaxy’s Edge has proven for five years, that second pool of people who want to play like they’re part of their own Star Wars story is limited. Yes, if the price had been lower, more people who wanted to have that kind of experience would have been able to do so. Also, more people who weren’t as interested in playing that game would have shown up, and they would have impacted the experience negatively for everybody else. If Starcruiser had lived that way, it likely would have survived as Galaxy's Edge does now, as something less creative than it was meant to be. It was a lose-lose situation.

I don’t know what the solution is, but I hope there is one. If the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser had survived, I would have done it eventually. I would have found the money because I love what it wanted to be. I hope Disney can make the concept work someday, but this idea was doomed.

T Tauri stars tend to be younger than 10 million years old ― in comparison, our Sun is around 4.6 billion years old ― and are often found still swaddled in the clouds of dust and gas from which they formed.

Bear wanders through N.J. neighborhood. Schools cancel outdoor activities.

  • Updated: May. 13, 2024, 6:12 p.m. |
  • Published: May. 13, 2024, 11:52 a.m.

  • Jeff Goldman | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com

A bear has been spotted wandering through South Orange on Monday morning, authorities said.

The bear was seen in the area of Thornden Street and Walton Avenue, South Orange police said in a statement shortly after 7 a.m.

All outdoor activities at district schools – including open lunch at Columbia High School in neighboring Maplewood and outdoor recess at all other schools – are canceled on Monday, official said. After school activities are on, though students and staff will stay inside school buildings for the rest of the day, a South Orange & Maplewood School District spokesman said.

The state Division of Fish and Wildlife has been contacted, police said. Sighting don’t warrant an on-site response, a spokesman said.

A woman in the neighborhood said she left her house at 6:35 a.m. to walk her dog and encountered a police officer who informed her about the bear. When she got home, she checked her Ring cameras and saw footage of the bear in her backyard and then walking along her driveway at 6:30 a.m.

She said she’s lived in the neighborhood for 10 years and had never previously encountered a bear.

Police couldn’t immediately be reached.

'IF': How John Krasinski's daughters helped him create his 'most personal' movie yet

a wandering star

When John Krasinski was 8 years old, he wanted braces more than anything.

That desire was short-lived. ("Turns out, braces aren't as comfortable or as fun as you thought they'd be," Krasinski quips.) But it did spark the name of his imaginary friend, Sam Brace, who would trek with him to the video store near his boyhood home in the Boston suburbs. There, Krasinski picked out the latest action films and comedies, which he proceeded to act out with Sam.

“We would live through these movies,” recalls " The Office " star, who wrote and directed the new family adventure “IF” (in theaters Friday), an acronym for “imaginary friend.” During a recent interview, “someone said, ‘So, Sam directed this movie.’ And I totally blacked out and went, ‘Oh, my God. Sam totally did.’”

John Krasinski and wife Emily Blunt wanted to make 'IF' for their daughters

Not everyone has such fond memories of their imaginary friends. Steve Carell , who plays a giant purple IF named Blue, only vaguely remembers having one.

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

"I’m hoping to reclaim that friendship," Carell deadpans. "Perhaps this movie will send me in that direction.”

Cailey Fleming, who portrays the film’s young protagonist Bea, similarly never had pretend pals growing up. But she says she's "never been so moved by a script before."

“I couldn't get through the whole thing without bawling,” says the 17-year-old actress (" The Walking Dead "). “And that's something John and I have in common: We both cry very easily.”

“IF” begins with a heart-wrenching montage in which a younger Bea (Audrey Hoffman) loses her ailing mom (Catharine Daddario). Years later and now a preteen, Bea is sent to stay with her grandmother (Fiona Shaw) while her dad (Krasinski) undergoes surgery. Lonely and wandering around her grandma’s apartment building, she meets a mysterious man (Ryan Reynolds) and a throng of magical creatures, which turn out to be retired IFs whose kids forgot about them when they grew up.

Krasinski, 44, was inspired to make the movie during the pandemic, while sheltering with his wife, Oscar nominee Emily Blunt , and their two daughters, Hazel (10) and Violet (7).

“All the imaginary games that my girls were playing became fewer and fewer,” Krasinski says. “I genuinely saw their lights starting to go out, and they started asking big questions like, ‘Are we going to be OK?’ I said to Emily, ‘This is the definition of growing up,' when you start to make that choice of, ‘Do I let go of all this childhood stuff to be in your real world?’ ”

In writing this story, he wanted to show that "you don't have to choose. That magical world you created is a time capsule you can always go back to."

'IF' is an unexpected 'companion' piece to 'A Quiet Place'

For a visual-effects-heavy kids' movie, "IF" feels remarkably low stakes, as Bea helps find new homes for the imaginary friends and impels adults to reconnect with their inner child. Thankfully, Krasinski says, there was no pressure for a "big action sequence." Rather, he took cues from the films that moved him most as a child, including “E.T.,” “The Goonies” and “Dead Poets Society."

Growing up, "those filmmakers actually gave me credit that I could hold bigger themes," Krasinski says. "That’s really what I took with me into this movie: Don’t shy away from emotionality.”

Although they couldn’t be more different, “IF” has unlikely parallels to his 2018 sci-fi thriller “A Quiet Place,” about a family fighting for survival after an alien invasion. For "Quiet Place," Krasinski drew from his own anxieties as a dad wanting to protect his kids. But "IF" turns the tables to focus on children's worries and fears.

“I love the idea of them being companion pieces,” Krasinski says. "They're both about love and family." Blunt had just given birth to Violet before the first "Quiet Place" film, so “we were in that new parent zone and that felt very authentic. This feels even more authentic," in that "I got this experience of working with my kids and talking to my kids and having them be a part of this from the beginning. It was the most personal thing I have ever done in my career."

Steve Carell says it was 'a no-brainer' reuniting with his 'The Office' co-star

Throughout the making of “IF,” Krasinski’s daughters weighed in on every aspect of the film: He showed them early sketches he drew of the various IFs, and they offered feedback on which scenes to use in the trailer. Their imaginary friends even became characters in the movie, voiced by Maya Rudolph and Krasinski, respectively.

“The pink alligator is Violet’s imaginary friend, and Hazel’s imaginary friend is the marshmallow that lights on fire,” Krasinski explains. “Hazel is a very empathetic person. We were making s'mores one day and her marshmallow caught on fire, and she was emotionally destroyed.”

The movie features an A-list roster of celebrities playing the IFs, including Bradley Cooper , Phoebe Waller-Bridge , George Clooney , Matt Damon and Blake Lively . To portray Blue, Krasinski knew he needed someone who was "sweet" but also "vulnerable." He immediately turned to his beloved "Office" co-star Carell, 61, who has also been his longtime go-to for parenting advice, as a dad to Annie (22) and John (19) with wife Nancy Walls.

"We love each other and we've always worked well together," Carell says. "John is a fantastic director, and there's a reason everybody jumped at the chance to be in this movie. It was a no-brainer for me."

The actors light up when talking about kids' vivid imaginations. Carell is mildly traumatized by this reporter's childhood belief that lobsters lived in the toilet, just waiting to pull us in.

"Now I will always feel like there's a lobster in my toilet," Carell says with a laugh. Growing up, "my son thought that when I was young, the world was in black and white. He didn't think color appeared in the world until he was on the scene. So that's how old he thinks I am!"

Welcome to Wrexham season three review: Appeal is still there, even if product placement rankles

Wrexham Manager Phil Parkinson (Left) is filmed by Welcome to Wrexham Documentary cameras during the Sky Bet League 2 match between Barrow and Wrexham at the Holker Street, Barrow-in-Furness on Saturday 26th August 2023. (Photo by Michael Driver/MI News/NurPhoto via Getty Images)

“Dad cried when we won the cup,” says a smiling young lad in the opening moments of Welcome to Wrexham’s third series, the sense of mischievous delight in his voice obvious.

“Don’t tell them,” comes the rather embarrassed reply after a few seconds of nervous laughter. “But, yeah, I did, didn’t I?”

If anything sums up why a previously struggling football club from north Wales now has legions of followers from across the Atlantic and beyond, it is this lovely father-and-son exchange from outside the SToK Cae Ras.

Sure, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, the two Hollywood figures who bought Wrexham in 2021, bring the star quality. And, yes, Paul Mullin ’s incredible goalscoring exploits catch the eye on the field (the club’s talisman recently reached the landmark of 100 goals in double quick time ).

But the true appeal of the Wrexham story lies way beyond any famous faces, be they film, sporting or otherwise. Instead, it’s how a working-class town once locked in a cycle of decline following the closure of the mines and steelworks has been given fresh hope. That fairytale has created a renewed sense of pride among the locals.

For Wrexham, read any number of towns and cities down on their luck across the UK and the United States. Dad’s tears at clinching promotion back to the EFL last year could have been any one of us, had our own hometown sports team been handed a similar golden ticket.

a wandering star

Welcome to Wrexham’s big success has been capturing that via cleverly interweaving the club’s on-field fortunes with the emotions of their devoted supporters. The new series brings more of the same, albeit with a few new characters to join previous breakout stars such as The Turf’s Wayne Jones .

In the three episodes released to the media, we meet photographer Oliver Stephens, who spends home matchdays wandering the streets with camera in hand, capturing images of supporters. “The club is the town and the town is the club,” he says at one stage. It’s difficult to disagree.

A welcome light is also shone on the local Andy’s Man Club, a suicide prevention charity where members meet to talk about any issues or problems.

Football, of course, remains at the heart of the narrative. Season two signed off with last season’s open-top bus victory parade to mark Wrexham’s National League title triumph so there’s plenty to enjoy this series, including a pre-season trip to the U.S.

Mixing footage of what appears to be classic ’60s Beatlemania with the arrival of the squad in the U.S. is amusing. What follows, however, is a rare misstep, as two major new sponsors for 2023-24 get their brands on screen for what feels like an excessive time during a recap of the tour. Sports documentaries tread a thin line between entertainment and advertisement — and blatant product placement can turn the viewer off.

Millions have poured into club coffers via the patronage of United Airlines and SToK Cold Brew Coffee, which are undeniably helping. This means things stay just the right side of the line for fans of the show who, in turn, are invariably fans of the club — even if that ‘support’ extends no further than checking the league table every few weeks.

But the producers should still tread carefully, as the moment an audience feels like little more than a conduit for boosting the bank balances of two already rich men, viewing figures are likely to collapse faster than Chester’s promotion hopes come the spring.

Omitting any mention of the Luke Armstrong saga also feels to be another blunder, as part of Welcome to Wrexham’s appeal lays in its brutal realism. Ignoring something as huge as a club record transfer collapsing at the eleventh hour means the audience is not getting the full picture.

a wandering star

These two gripes aside, the early episodes in what will be an eight-part series are an entertaining watch. Manager Phil Parkinson is as potty-mouthed as ever in the dressing room ; the liberal use of the word ‘fuck’ is only matched by his ability to come up with unintentionally amusing phrases.

In series one, we got “fanny f***ing footballers”. Here, he sets pulses racing with the half-time question: “Were our f***ing arousal levels at the right level?”

After playing no more than a bit-part role in the first two series, Parkinson’s assistant Steve Parkin has much more time on screen. This is good news, given he can challenge even the gaffer in the swearing stakes.

“Be honest: did I waste two hours of my afternoon doing the f***ing defenders’ meeting yesterday?” Parkin asks during the half-time interval in August that saw Wrexham trail Swindon Town 4-1 at home.

“You’re either not reading them or you don’t give a f***. I’m wasting my time, so do me a f***ing favour. Say, ‘Steve, go play golf Friday afternoon, instead of sitting and writing that’.”

To then further underline his anger, Parkin adds by way of a verdict: “Back three, weak as p***… Weak as p***. Not won one f***ing header.”

Increased dressing-room footage is a big feature of the opening episodes. It’s a welcome move, as these peeks behind the curtain provide a rawness that sports fans don’t usually get.

Again, that half-time against Swindon is a prime example. Before Parkinson and Parkin have their say, the players are filmed returning to the dressing room. Elliot Lee cannot curb his emotions, shouting to no one in particular about how the first half had been “f***ing embarrassing” before adding “we are so f***ing weak, every single one of us, it’s f***ing s***”.

It is fascinating to then watch Parkinson manage the situation, letting Lee and a couple of others have their say before demanding quiet. Then comes his own damning verdict, exonerating only young striker Jake Bickerstaff from blame, before Parkin weighs in.

After that, though, the tone switches markedly. The players are built up again, Swindon’s weaknesses highlighted and a sense develops that the game can be rescued if Wrexham score the next goal.

Forty-five minutes later, Parkinson’s side have rescued a point from a pulsating 5-5 draw. The home dressing room is a very different place, as a result. “Absolutely f***ing brilliant,” says the manager.

The same can be said for the women’s team again featuring in the new series. Now playing in the top level of Welsh football, they also boast a new home at The Rock along with semi-professional status.

This means the players are being paid for the first time and it is clear this is making a positive difference to their careers. Some can go part-time in their day jobs to focus more on training.

a wandering star

Del Morgan, the team’s goalkeeper, speaks well, particularly on the psychology of dealing with mistakes. Following Mia Roberts, daughter of Wrexham legend Neil but surprisingly released following last season’s promotion, is another nice touch as she embarks on a new chapter at university.

With the coming summer likely to see a sizeable number of departures from the men’s team , maybe this approach could be repeated by the producers. Should there be a fourth series, they could follow a couple of club stalwarts away from Wrexham. Only time will tell on that.

One big change for this series comes in the scheduling, with the launch pulled forward from the autumn to May 2 in the U.S. on FX and the following day in the UK.

The plan is to give the show a more up-to-date feel, particularly when covering the promotion run-in. If Wrexham — spoiler alert! — had to settle for the League Two play-offs, as opposed to clinching automatic promotion earlier this month , the potential turnaround from the May 19 final to broadcast would have been incredibly tight.

As it is, the producers have a few weeks now to get everything just right and provide supporters — be they from north Wales or the U.S. — with coverage worthy of another momentous season on the pitch.

On the evidence of those first three shows, expect another emotional finale as Wrexham take another giant step forward under their owners.
