La Tour Lu est un monument original de Nantes. Elle faisait partie de la biscuiterie du même nom, fondée par Jean Romain Lefèvre et Pauline-Isabelle Utile (d'où le nom de la marque LU). Leur fils avait fait construire une usine à l'époque de l'industrialisation, dont faisaient partie deux grandes tours de 38 mètres de haut. Ces tours rondes étaient de couleur bleue, rouge et or. Elles comportaient un dôme percé de fenêtres, que l'on a sculpté avec des aigles pour symboliser le prestige. On trouve aussi un ange avec une trompette à la main au-dessus du dôme. Aujourd'hui, seule une des deux tours est restée : l'autre avait été gravement endommagée par la Seconde Guerre mondiale et fut détruite. Celle de gauche, moins abîmée, sera restaurée en 1997 par l'architecte Jean-Marie Lépinay à l'occasion de la coupe du monde de football de 1998. Il a utilisé des archives des fabricants de biscuits pour redonner au monument son originalité. Aujourd'hui, la Tour Lu est adossée au Lieu Unique, une salle de spectacle très dynamique.

Visiter la Tour LU de Nantes, vestige des anciennes biscuiteries

Installé dans les anciennes biscuiteries LU depuis le 1er janvier 2000, le Lieu Unique est un espace d’exploration artistique, de bouillonnement culturel et de convivialité qui mélange les genres, les cultures et les publics. Lieu de frottements, le Lieu Unique abrite à côté de ces espaces dédiés à la création, un ensemble d’activités : bar, restaurant, librairie, hammam, crèche… et la Tour LU qui offre une vue imprenable sur la ville et les toits du Lieu Unique.

Emblème de la ville de Nantes, la tour Lu a été édifiée en 1909.  À l’origine totem publicitaire construit pour incarner la marque de gâteaux LU (Lefèvre-Utile), la tour a été restaurée à l’identique en 1998 à l’occasion de la transformation de l’ancienne usine en lieu de vie et de spectacle. Le parcours de visite propose une ascension dans le bâtiment – du rez-de-chaussée à la coupole – pour découvrir les grands pans de l’histoire du lieu : depuis sa création au 19e siècle jusqu’au Lieu Unique actuel, tel qu’on le connaît. Il associe des images d’archives, des affiches, des photos de spectacles, des interviews vidéo, mais aussi une rétrospective vertigineuse qui retrace plus de 20 ans de programmation au Lieu Unique.

Experience it for yourself by taking one of our tours. Lasting only 3-4 hours, general campus tours are available every day of the week.* You’ll see model dorms, classrooms, and athletic and recreational facilities, as well as our award-winning dining hall.

Go through your Liberty checklist as you get a glimpse of what life may be like on our campus. Make a list of questions about the things that are important to you as you take this big step toward your future. Creating a learning environment where you will feel safe and supported is part of the Liberty experience. See for yourself how you will study, eat, and thrive on our beautiful campus that just gets better every year!

When you come for TourLU, you’ll explore our beautiful campus and learn about the Liberty University admission process.

You’ll also have an opportunity to meet with an admissions counselor one-on-one and  apply to Liberty for free.  Students who apply also receive a   free   Liberty Flames t-shirt.

What does a typical TourLU look like?

TourLU is our version of a Liberty University open house. You can tour campus and experience what our dorms and classrooms look like. Plus, you will be able to see some of the athletic and recreational facilities that will be available to you as a Liberty student. Here are some of the highlights of our Liberty tours:

• Our daily campus tour is student-led , so you will have the chance to talk to a Liberty student and see the university through their eyes.
• The tour is part driving and part walking so we recommend comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing.
• Some of the stops on our tour include academic buildings, recreation facilities, the dining hall, the Jerry Falwell Library, and more.
• You’ll end your tour with a presentation and the option to do a one-on-one admissions session where you can apply for free .

Monday-Saturday | 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. ( See below for details on Convocation and Football Saturdays )

Sunday | 2 p.m.

Group TourLU

Interested in bringing your group of ten or more to visit Liberty University? Hit the highlights of campus at a time that best fits your group’s schedule!

Football Saturdays

TourLU is not available on home football Saturdays, however, you can join us for an abbreviated walking tour that highlights campus from the top of our 17-story Freedom Tower. Our Freedom Tower tour will enable you to see the scenic beauty of the campus from a bird’s-eye view.

Tours depart from the Hancock Welcome Center at the top of each hour from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The first photos from Justin Timberlake ‘s brand new tour are here and we’re getting a glimpse at the incredible floating stage!

The Grammy-winning singer launched the Forget Tomorrow World Tour on Monday night (April 29) at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada.

Justin performs 29 songs across a two-hour show and he’ll be performing more than 70 shows in over 50 cities through the end of the year.

The set list included “My Love”, “Cry Me a River”, “Suit & Tie”, “Rock Your Body”, “SexyBack” and more including the live debuts of “Technicolor”, “Infinity Sex”, “Imagination”, “Drown”, “My Favorite Drug”, “F****n’ Up the Disco”, “Play”, and “Flame” off of Everything I Thought It Was. Justin floated over the audience on a stage made of an LED screen of tiny mirrors. The screen tilted in multiple angles allowing JT to lean towards the crowd!

It doesn’t matter that both Mick Jagger and Keith Richards are 80.

As long as they’re sharing a stage, the Rolling Stones will continue to defy age and energy.

The band’s 16-city stadium sprint – sponsored, appropriately, by AARP – kicked off April 28 at NRG Stadium in Houston and will play through July 17 in Santa Clara, California. In between, the Rolling Stones will visit cities including Las Vegas, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Cleveland and Chicago.

In October, the band released “Hackney Diamonds,” their first new album since 2005. For this complementary tour, Jagger, Richards and Ronnie Wood – along with durable supporting players Chuck Leavell, Darryl Jones, Matt Clifford, Karl Denson, Tim Ries, Steve Jordan (who assumed rhythm duties after the 2021 death of original drummer Charlie Watts ) and background vocalists Bernard Fowler and Chanel Haynes – shined on stage for two hours.

The 18-song set was stuffed with iconic rock anthems including “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” “Start Me Up,” and “Miss You”, along with a smattering of new songs from “Hackney,” including the Grammy-nominated “ Angry .”

Stadiums, which the band has played for nearly 50 years, still suit their blues-splattered rock and indefatigable frontman Jagger, who still slithers effortlessly, remains an undisputed legend.

As flood waters continue to swell throughout neighborhoods in Kingwood, Houston Mayor John Whitmire and Police Chief Troy Finner traveled by helicopter to get a first-hand view of the situation Saturday afternoon.

“Houston residents benefit when all levels of government work together,” Mayor Whitmire said in a statement. “Together, we will get through these challenges. Let’s go to work!”

In the statement, the Mayor’s Office said that the purpose of the helicopter tour was to give Houston’s elected leaders a greater perspective of the damage in Kingwood and the potential resources the community will need in the coming days.

“Mayor Whitmire is staying in touch with residents and first responders through every means possible. Furthermore, he is using his contacts to speak to Governor Abbott and Lt Governor Patrick and has had a great response from the Texas Division of Emergency Management,” an excerpt from the statement read.
