About Celebrity Cruises

Celebrity cruises prices, what is the best celebrity cruises ship, celebrity cruises loyalty program: captain’s club.

With sailings that run the gamut from the Caribbean to Alaska to Europe, Celebrity Cruises offers a ton of options throughout the world. The cruise line has 300 itineraries to all seven continents, many from the line’s home base in Miami.

Before you book a cruise with Celebrity, a line that’s part of the Royal Caribbean family, here’s everything you need to know.

Here are a few key features of Celebrity Cruises to help you decide if the line is right for you.

Cabin types: Depending on the cruise and ship, different cabins may be available — ranging from interior staterooms to suites with private balconies. The most premium option available, The Retreat, includes exclusive and expansive suites, dining, drinks, lounges and more.

Main U.S. routes : If you're planning to depart from the U.S., there are a number of destinations, including Alaska, the Caribbean, New England, Mexico and more. Many begin from ports in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Seattle, Boston and New York.

Points currency and loyalty program: The rewards program is called Captain’s Club and you can earn Club Points with every sailing after signing up.

Celebrity Cruises destinations

Celebrity Cruises can take you all over the world, from Alaska to Asia, the Mediterranean to Mexico, and other places in between. And for every destination, there are just as many options for trip length. Sail to the Bahamas for three nights, around Australia for nine or enjoy a transpacific cruise to Tahiti for 18.

» Learn more: Best credit cards for cruises

Just like with most other cruise lines, price depends on the destination and duration of the trip. A 12-night cruise in New Zealand, for example, might be $943 per person, while a four-night cruise to the Bahamas could be $259. The final cost depends on the cabin you choose, of course. On that Bahamas cruise, an interior room may be as low as $259, but a room with a veranda costs $399 and if you opt to book The Retreat, the price tag is a whopping $2,096.

What’s included in the price?

Most Celebrity Cruises offer two booking options: Cruise Only or All Included. With Cruise Only, you can expect the following for no extra cost:

Accommodations.

Entertainment, including theater and live music.

Room service (anytime for Retreat bookings, breakfast only for all other rooms).

If you opt for the All Included package, you also get:

Basic Wi-Fi.

Classic Drinks Package.

As of fall 2023, there will be 16 Celebrity Cruises ships in the line’s fleet, including three smaller expedition ships that sail only to the Galapagos Islands. But one of the best according to some Celebrity Cruises reviews may be the Celebrity Apex, which offers itineraries from Portugal to Egypt to Scandinavia. Between the spa, 29 restaurants, two-story villa-style cabins and a photo-ready pool deck, it’s certainly a contender.

What is the newest Celebrity Cruises ship?

The newest ship, the Celebrity Ascent, sets sail out of South Florida in November and may be the poshest ship in the fleet. An Edge Series ship that’s already won numerous awards, it will start by sailing to the Caribbean before cruising to Europe and will feature more expansive views, at least 30 dining options, live entertainment, a full spa and even a rooftop garden.

How to earn Captain’s Club points

Points are earned based on the category of your cabin (larger more expensive cabins earn more points) and the length of your cruise. So the more you spend, the more you earn. For example, you could earn anywhere from two to 24 points per night just based on the suite you book.

Power Up Points

In addition to sailing, you can earn more points through Power Up Points. You will have to sign-up for the program, then Celebrity will email you with opportunities to participate via sharing social media posts or taking surveys. You’ll get one Club Point for every 10 Power Up Points you earn, which will automatically be added to your Captain’s Club account.

Celebrity Cruises Visa Signature Card

The Celebrity Cruises Visa Signature Card also offers a way to earn MyCruise points that can be redeemed for Celebrity cruises, upgrades, and onboard credits. Sign up and score 25,000 bonus points after making at least $1,000 in purchases in the first 90 days of your account opening.

» Learn more: The best travel credit cards right now

How to redeem Captain's Club points

How you redeem your Captain’s Club points will depend on what you’re redeeming them for. For discounts on drinks packages, you’ll have to pre-pay before your cruise starts by calling 800-760-0654, while dining discounts will be taken onboard. But many benefits can be viewed and managed from your Captain’s Club account.

Note that because Celebrity Cruises is part of the Royal Caribbean family, status reciprocity exists across the two brands, meaning your status and benefits will be acknowledged on either line you’re currently cruising with whether you earned status with Captain’s Club or Royal Caribbean's Crown & Anchor Society.

» Learn more: Royal Caribbean vs. Carnival

Wi-Fi is available on all ships except for the Galapagos Expedition cruises, but you’ll pay for it: Basic and Premium Wi-Fi packages are available, though cost varies.

Various drinks packages are available on Celebrity Cruises, from a Zero-Proof nonalcoholic package that includes tea, coffee and smoothies for $30 per day, a Classic Drinks Package that starts at $89 per day and includes alcoholic drinks up to $10, to a Premium Package that includes drinks that cost up to $17 and costs $109+ per day.

For most Celebrity sailings, proof of vaccination against COVID or a negative test aren’t required. There are a few exceptions when traveling to destinations with strict regulations, so check with Celebrity before booking to find out.

Celebrity might not be the first name that comes to mind when you think of ocean cruising, but it is still a major player.

Celebrity Cruises has been around since 1988. It was founded by a Greek company for the sole purpose of offering luxury sailings to the island of Bermuda. In 1997, Celebrity was acquired by Royal Caribbean.

Since then, it has added many more ports and ships and now sails to over 300 destinations on all 7 continents. Celebrity’s 15 ships feature attractions and activities that will appeal to the modern, luxury traveler.

Name: Celebrity Cruises Parent Company: Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd. (also owns Royal Caribbean , Azamara, and Silversea Cruises) Number of Ships: 15 (1 more coming in 2023) Destinations: 300+ Loyalty Program: Captain’s Club Credit Card: Celebrity Cruises Visa Signature ® Card

Celebrity Cruises operates a fleet of 15 ships:

Hot Tip: Celebrity Beyond, which debuted in October 2022, is the newest Celebrity ship.

Celebrity Cruises travels to over 300 destinations from 30 departure ports. You’ll find ports of call in 79 countries on all 7 continents.

Owning a private island or beach resort is common among large cruise lines and is something many passengers have come to expect. CocoCay in the Bahamas (once called “Little Stirrup Cay”) is a private island owned by Celebrity’s parent company, Royal Caribbean.

Celebrity used to stop at this private island, but is not currently offering any itineraries that include CocoCay .

Hot Tip: Be prepared! Check out our printable cruise packing list and tips for your next cruise vacation.

You may be familiar with formal nights on other cruise lines, where passengers are expected to dress up for the evening. On Celebrity, formal nights have been replaced with Evening Chic nights . These nights are somewhere in between smart casual and formal.

On Evening Chic nights, women will want to choose a cocktail dress or a skirt, pants, or designer jeans with an elegant top. Men will want to choose pants or designer jeans with a dress shirt, button-down shirt, or sweater. Blazers or sports jackets are optional.

Hot Tip: There are 1 to 2 Evening Chic nights on every Celebrity cruise except for Celebrity Xpedition, which sails exclusively in the Galapagos Islands and features casual attire only.

Celebrity offers lots of specialty cruises for those times you want to get away for a holiday or connect with like-minded people.

Culinary Cruises

If you’re a foodie, you’ll want to check out a Celebrity Culinary Cruise. With these sailings, Celebrity has partnered with Chef Daniel Boulud to deliver a truly exceptional experience featuring culinary events and globally-inspired menus.

Celebrity celebrates all passengers and strives to make everyone feel included. You’ll find LGBTQ+ events, the largest Pride Party at Sea, and same-sex marriages onboard. In fact, the first same-sex marriage ceremony at sea that was legally recognized happened on the Celebrity Equinox in January 2018.

Staterooms on a Celebrity cruise ship evoke a sense of modern luxury. In every stateroom, you’ll find amenities such as a flat-screen TV, exclusive Celebrity eXhale bedding, a cashmere mattress, custom-blended bath products, plush towels, and more.

Here are some of the highlights:

Single Inside Staterooms are perfect for the solo traveler. These rooms offer all the amenities of a double stateroom but are designed for just 1 person.

If you’re trying to stick to a budget, but still want an awesome view, go for a Panoramic Ocean View Stateroom . These rooms are larger than the Standard Ocean View Staterooms and they come with floor-to-ceiling windows.

Celebrity Cruises Family Veranda Stateroom

If you’re traveling with family (up to 5 people), check out the Family Veranda Stateroom . These are the largest veranda staterooms with plenty of space both inside and outside.

If total relaxation is what you’re after, try out an Aqua Class Stateroom. These rooms are spa-inspired and come with extra perks like premium bath products, complimentary dining at Blu restaurant, access to the SEA Thermal Suite and Persian garden, and a personal spa concierge.

Disclaimers about ship ratings: A ship’s Health Rating is based on vessel inspection scores published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). If a ship did not receive a CDC score within 22 months prior to the calculation of its Overall Rating, its Health Rating appears as N/A; in such a case, the ship’s Overall Rating is calculated using the average Health Rating of all CDC-rated ships within the cruise line. All ship Traveler Ratings are based on ratings provided under license by Cruiseline.com.

What's the difference between a Guest Account, Xpress Boarding Pass, Onboard Account, Onboard SeaPass Account?

Your Guest Account is an online platform you create a username and password for, which you can use to  manage your upcoming cruises, and helps you access cruise add-ons and pre-cruise purchases. Your Xpress Boarding Pass is your ticket to get onboard. You can download it online after checking in via your Guest Account. You can also view it in the Celebrity Cruises App Your SeaPass is your stateroom key. You will also use this card to make charges while onboard, as it is associated with the credit/debit card on file in your Onboard Account Your Onboard Account/SeaPass Account is a record of your spending once you get onboard. You will use your SeaPass card to make charges to your account while onboard.

How do I make purchases onboard?

You can use your SeaPass card/account! Your SeaPass is a room key that should be waiting in your stateroom or stateroom mailbox when you arrive to your room onboard. Your SeaPass lets you into your stateroom and doubles as your Onboard Account charge card. You can show your SeaPass at bars, dining, and other venues onboard when you'd like to make purchases. It can also be used to access to special areas of the ship if you are booked in a Retreat, Concierge or Aquaclass stateroom. You can view your balance and onboard purchase in the Celebrity Cruises App, on your in room TV (where applicable) or by visiting the Guest Relations desk. The credit card tied to your booking may be authorized for large amounts while you're onboard and will be charged at the end of the cruise.

Will holds be placed on my credit card when I create an onboard account?

Yes. As with land-based hotels, guests can expect to see an initial $100 pending charge or authorization on their credit card to secure funds for anticipated onboard purchases. Purchases in excess of $100 will generate additional holds. While the holds aren’t charges, they do reduce your available credit. Most holds are released by the time your cruise ends; however, some may take up to 30 days. Celebrity Cruises® doesn’t control how long the holds remain, your bank or financial institution determines the duration of these holds. If you register a card and change to another card or cash during your sailing, you may still see holds on the original card.

Can I see my pre-cruise charges on my onboard Account?

No. Guests will only be able to see their onboard charges using the mobile SeaPass/Onboard Account.

Can parents control the amount that their children spend on their SeaPass?

Yes, parents need to contact the Guest Relations/Services Desk while onboard to limit the amount of spending allowed for their children. Children that are traveling without their parents (with other adults) can not use their parent’s credit cards onboard, regardless if they have a notarized letter.

Can I set up a credit with the Casino prior to boarding?

Yes, we have a form that can be completed. This is typically processed 2 weeks prior to sailing and does require a 3rd party validation in order to set up.

Can I use my SeaPass to withdraw money to buy chips in the Casino?

Yes, you are able to withdraw up to $10,000 a day against your SeaPass, but will be subject to a transaction fee.

Are there ATMs onboard?

ATMs are located near the Guest Relations/Services Desk onboard. ATMs are also located in the Casino area. On Celebrity Edge class, ATMs are located on Deck 4 by the forward elevators (opposite to "The Club") and adjacent to the Casino on Deck 4

Is there a charge to cash US traveler's checks onboard?

We do not charge a fee to cash US traveler's checks.

Can I exchange currency onboard?

Yes, Bank of America sends daily exchange rates to the ships (Monday – Friday). For Saturday and Sunday, Friday’s exchange rate is used for any transactions over the weekend. The foreign exchange rate is generally set on the last business day prior to debarkation.

Where can I change my money for the local currency?

The Guest Relations Desk (Pursers Desk) provides bank services onboard the ships, including foreign currency exchange, providing change and taking payment for onboard accounts.

How long will it take for a charge to show up on the SeaPass/Onboard Account?

It will take up to 20 minutes for a charge to show up on the guests’ SeaPass/Onboard Account. The guests will need to be connected to Royal/Celebrity WIFI for the updates to show in the app.

Why can I not see my travel companion charges on my SeaPass?

If a guest’s party is set up as buyer and payer for the same SeaPass/Onboard Account, both the payer and buyers can view each other's transactions on the SeaPass/Onboard Account.

How do my onboard credits work?

Any onboard credits you received in addition to the credits that came with your initial ticket purchase will post to your account within 24 hours of embarkation. You can make purchases using these credits immediately after boarding. The credits will automatically be applied toward any purchases you make once posted to your account. For guests that have both refundable and non-refundable OBCs, the vessels will exhaust the Complementary (non-refundable) OBC values before deducting from the Purchased (refundable) OBCs.

Is there a cut off time for which the guest must exhaust their Onboard Credit?

Guests must use their credits by 10 pm on the last evening of their cruise. Onboard Credits have no cash value and no refunds will be given for any unused credits. Unused credits are those that are not used by 10 pm on the last evening of the cruise.

Is my Onboard Credit refundable?

There are two types of onboard credit, complimentary or purchased. Complimentary onboard credits are non-refundable, whereas Purchased onboard credit is refundable to the guest prior to leaving the ship.

I am a MGM Member, where is my onboard credit for booking with Celebrity?

The Gold, Platinum, and Noir MGM benefit with Celebrity of onboard credit, is only available with your Annual Cruise that is booked directly with the Blue Chip Club.

Can I purchase Onboard Credit for my cruise or to gift to someone else?

Yes! Shipboard credit can be purchased for yourself or others and is a very versatile gift. It can be redeemed for any purchases onboard including beverages, specialty dining, shore excursions, casino games* or gift shop purchases. *Please note that a 5% handling fee will be assessed if the credit is redeemed in the casino.

Will Celebrity gift certificate onboard credit be refundable or non-refundable

Dining Dress Code

What’s the dress code? Do we have to dress up?

Smart Casual attire is required for entry to main dining, specialty dining, and the Celebrity Theatre. Smart Casual means you look comfortable yet tasteful in a dress, skirt, long pants, or jean, and stylish top or button-down. Shorts and flip flops are not considered Smart Casual. Each itinerary features one to two "formal" nights we call Evening Chic. Evening Chic means you dress to impress, glamorous and sophisticated in your own way, with a cocktail dress, skirt, slacks, or designer jean, an elegant dress top or blazer—some guests even pack a tuxedo or gown for onboard photos. The Daily program, delivered to your stateroom and available at the Guest Relations Desk, will be your guide to the correct attire each evening. If you do not wish to participate in Evening Chic, Smart Casual attire is acceptable for dining and theater.

See "What to Pack, What to Wear" above for more.

What types of clothing is appropriate for dinner onboard?

Most nights, Smart Casual attire is appropriate for dinner in the Main Dining Room(s). How are Club Points calculated?

Club Points are earned based on stateroom category purchased and length of cruise including Cruisetours when you sail with Celebrity Cruises or Azamara Club Cruises. It is possible for you to earn between 2 and 24 points per night depending on your stateroom category. Guest travelling as a single traveler in a stateroom, and paying full fare will earn double the amount of Club Points, based on stateroom category and number of nights sailed (as of July 1, 2014).

Club Points can also be earned through the Power Up Points program. Power Up Points can be earned for various non-sailing activities such as taking surveys or participating in social media activities. Opportunities to earn Power Up Points are emailed to eligible members by Celebrity Cruises from time to time. Power Up Points convert to Club Points at a ratio of 10 Power Up Points to 1 Club Point.

Complimentary sailings, Seminar at Sea, Travel Agent rates, and employee rates do not earn Club Points in the program. Reduced fare upgrades, Move-up upgrades and Guarantee staterooms earn points at the original stateroom category booked and not the category of the upgraded stateroom or stateroom sailed.

If your account is linked to another member’s account through a spousal or partner relationship, both members will have access to the points and tier associated with the member with more Club Points. In this instance, points are still earned by each individual member. But if one member’s points are higher, the other member’s balance and tier will be lifted. If the accounts are ever separated, both members will only have access to their points and tier earned individually.  See full terms & conditions.

Why are Captain’s Club Benefits changing?

Over the last year, we were presented with a rare opportunity to pause, step back, and assess all aspects of our vacation experience. This resulted in exciting refinements including reimagined cruise packaging and enhancements to our Captain’s Club program.

Seamless experiences have always been our goal, and we believe vacations should be effortless from the start. That’s why every Celebrity cruise now includes drinks, Wi-Fi —with All Included. We’ve also developed new ways to honor your well-deserved Captain’s Club status, including new events and exclusive perks.

We also continue to work hard with our expert advisors, the Healthy Sail Panel, to develop new measures to keep you healthy at sea and we are adjusting parts of our Captain’s Club program accordingly. As always, we’re committed to providing you the incredible, luxurious Celebrity experience that you’ve come to expect from us.

As a Select and above member, will I still have priority embarkation benefits?

When we return to service, the embarkation process will be different. To manage the flow of guests and follow new health and safety protocols, guests will request a set arrival time in advance. More details of the embarkation process will be provided before you sail.

How will processes related to the Captain’s Club program be different?

We’ll be making minor adjustments to comply with new safety measures that still allow you to enjoy the perks of being a Captain's Club member. For example, certain events and spaces, like complimentary access to the Persian Garden for Elite members and above during port days and the Captain’s Club Wine Tasting, will require an advance reservation to manage capacity. Elite members and above will be able to enjoy an exclusive and private breakfast in Tuscan Grille, now served a la carte instead of buffet style. And, Captain’s Club host hours and location may change to manage the number of people gathering. These tweaks will be shared either pre-cruise or onboard during your sailing.

Will the Captain’s Club member events onboard be changing? If so, how?

Yes. New health and safety standards required us to rethink some of our event offerings, which gave us a chance to get creative. We’ve developed new experiences just for you, like reimagined welcome parties and a special event where you’ll get to be the artist. Learn about these new events and all program changes at https://www.celebritycruises.com/captains-club/program-changes.

Will there be any changes to Zenith Benefits?

In keeping with new health and safety standards, we’ll be tightly managing venue capacities. As a result, Zenith access to the lounge at The Retreat® and Michael’s Club will be limited to members staying in The Retreat until further notice. Our primary goal is to keep our guests and crew safe and healthy. Other benefits such as complimentary laundry, complimentary streaming Wi-Fi, complimentary premium beverage package and 25% off specialty dining will still be available.

The Top Cruiser on each sailing can now enjoy a complimentary dinner at a specialty dining restaurant, along with complimentary flowers and wine. This special guest will also now have the opportunity to take part in an interview with our cruise director that will air on in-stateroom televisions.

Members sailing after reaching 6K and 9K points will also receive a complimentary dinner in specialty dining.

Why is Celebrity Cruises visiting Perfect Day at CocoCay?

Celebrity Cruises is forever inspired to provide travelers a better way to experience the world around them. Part of this effort means reimagining what cruising could be, from thoughtfully designed staterooms and venues that bring people together, to exciting new programming, world-class entertainment, a robust food and beverage program, and itineraries that take guests to bucket-list places.

For the first time ever, Celebrity Cruises will bring guests to one of the Caribbean's most exclusive destinations, Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean's award-winning private island - a destination like no other in the Bahamas.

What is Perfect Day at CocoCay?

CocoCay is a private island paradise in the Bahamas that’s entirely yours to explore during your day here. From the largest freshwater pool in the region to a swim-up bar, luxurious overwater cabanas, water slides, multiple dining options, and soft, white sand beaches, CocoCay is a curated playground offering a day in the sun for every taste.

What kind of activities will I find at CocoCay?

CocoCay is divided into neighborhoods, so it’s easy to choose the right setting for your mood—or to roam between each one.

Thrill-seekers should head straight to Thrill Waterpark and Splash Summit, a colorful cluster of 13 slides and watery activities. Plunge down the white-knuckle Daredevil’s Peak, the tallest slide in North America, at a dizzying 135 feet.

Fly down the Twister on a two-person raft, or race friends down the four-lane Splash Speedway. Unwind in a beach chair, nestled on the shore of the vast wave pool in between rides.

The vast Oasis Lagoon has different coves and three swim-up islands, each one with its own atmosphere. You can rent a beach chair at the water’s edge, or a private cabana in which to relax while your kids splash around at the shallow slope of the lagoon. Every detail has been thought of, right down to the underwater music you’ll hear if you dive down.

Coco Beach Club is a serene, premium space with a shimmering infinity pool, elevated dining in the Club House, its own powdery beach, with beach chairs and gorgeous private cabanas to rent, including an exclusive cluster right over the aquamarine water.

Chill Island is a blissful beach venue with luxurious day beds in Breezy Bay, where you’ll find private cabanas for rent, snorkel gear from the Snorkel Shack, and wave runners to play on.

South Beach offers a happy combination of action and relaxation. Head here for beach volleyball, basketball, snorkeling over the offshore coral reef, or simply soaking up the sun on a beach chair.

Refuel at the Snack Shack, or head to one of the three bars, including the Floating Bar.

For the ultimate view of this paradise, take to the skies at Up, Up and Away, a hot air balloon that gives you a bird’s-eye perspective from 450 feet up. Don’t forget your camera for this one; the views are out of this world.

What should I pack for a day at CocoCay?

You’ll need very little for your fun day ashore. Pack a beach towel, plenty of sunscreen, your SeaPass Card (for purchasing food, beverages, and activities), and some cash if you think you might like to buy souvenirs from the Straw Market.

Remember to bring closed-toe shoes if you want to ride the zipline. Lockers are available for storing personal belongings, and you can always exchange your beach towels for fresh ones.

Here’s a list of other items you might be curious about:

SeaPass® and cash - Not only will you need your SeaPass® card to exit and re-board the ship, you’ll use it to pay for things throughout the island, and if you visit the Coco Beach Club. Please note, there’s also an island market with local Bahamian crafts, where items can be charged with your SeaPass card (until 2:30 p.m.) and cash (USD) is always accepted.

Driver’s Liscence - If you plan to operate a Wave Jet during a guided tour, guests ages 16 to 20 will need to present a valid driver’s license.

Speakers - You’ll find music to set the soundtrack to your day playing throughout the island. But if you’d prefer to listen to your own selection of music, we ask that you please do so with personal headphones.

Towels - Beach towels are available onboard your ship, and can be brought onto the island, which you can refresh throughout the day as desired, at one of three towel stations. Since beach towels are provided onboard based on a check-out/check-in system, you should bring your towels back to the ship with you. Guests who have rented cabanas will have towels at the cabana and may leave the towels there upon departure.

Sun protection - Perfect Day at CocoCay offers complimentary umbrellas and shade structures in many places, but The Bahamas' sun can still be intense. Bring sun protection gear like hats, sunglasses, rashguards or other types of UPF clothing, and sunscreen. There are a lot of water features at Perfect Day at CocoCay, so be sure to reapply sunscreen often.

Proper footwear - Don’t forget proper shoes if you’re planning to ride the Zip Line at Perfect Day at CocoCay. Your shoes must have a closed toe area and be secured around the back of your foot as well. Sneakers or enclosed water shoes are great options.

Bug repellent - Depending on the time of year and time of day, there may be mosquitos, flies or other insects in some areas of the island.

Medications - Bring any prescription medications you may rely on. There are medical facilities on the island, but they may not have your specific medications on hand.

Supplies for baby - Don’t forget bottles and formula, diapers and swim diapers, wipes and sun protection gear for babies and tots.

Strollers - Complimentary beach strollers are located throughout the Island and are available on a first come first served basis.

Drones - Guests are welcome to bring drones on their cruise for use on land only and outside of the port area. However, drones are not to be operated onboard the ship at any time, nor on Royal Caribbean’s private destinations: Perfect Day at CocoCay, Bahamas or Labadee®, Haiti.

While onboard, drones must be stored safely in the stateroom. Drones used on the ship will be confiscated until the end of the cruise. A Guest Conduct Policy warning will be issued and guests may be subject to disembarkation at their own expense for onboard drone usage.

GoPro® Cameras - You are welcome to record your Perfect Day at CocoCay memories with your GoPro camera. However, for your safety, personal electronic devices of any kind are not allowed on any of the following attractions:

All water slides at Thrill Waterpark

Adventure Pool in Thrill Waterpark

Splashaway Bay

Captain Jill’s Galleon

On the island’s Zip Line, riders who wish to wear a GoPro must bring their own helmet mount that attaches securely to the helmet or secure GoPro to the body. If the staff notices the camera prevents a guest from safely participating in the activity at any time, they may ask the guest to remove or adjust the camera.

How easy is it to get around and walk from one area to the next?

CocoCay is custom designed for cruise guests, so getting around is easy. It’s also fun to stroll through the different neighborhoods, experiencing the atmosphere in each one.

There’s an accessible tram service for the convenience of all guests, which runs every 10 minutes near the Arrivals Plaza, and complimentary beach-friendly wheelchairs and beach strollers are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The walk from the ship along the jetty, if you don’t take the tram, is about five minutes to the Arrivals Plaza. From here, the furthest spot on the island is around ten minutes’ walk.

Tram route and all walk times are indicated on the island signage as well as on the Wayfinding Map.

Guests with accessible needs will also find lifts in our pool areas, lower countertops at our bars, ramps to the diing area, accessible restrooms and showers.

You can always head back to the ship if you want a break from the sun, and return to the beach at your leisure. You’ll have a whole day at CocoCay to enjoy yourself.

Does CocoCay have Wi-Fi?

Yes, CocoCay has the same fast Wi-Fi as you’ll find onboard Celebrity’s ships, with different speeds available according to what you’ve purchased; for example, if you have chosen All Included, you will automatically be able to access Wi-Fi on CocoCay. Service may be limited on some of the beaches, but you should nonetheless be able to start uploading envy-inducing Instagram snaps as soon as you step ashore.

I’d like my day at CocoCay to reflect the level of luxury I enjoy in The Retreat on board. Is this possible?

Guests looking for an elevated experience during their day in paradise can choose Coco Beach Club, an exclusive retreat where every moment is infused with luxury.

Float under a tropical sun in the infinity pool, or sip cocktails by the water’s edge. Enjoy freshly prepared dishes at the clubhouse. Upgrade your experience even further with a sumptuous private cabana, complete with concierge service.

Or treat yourself to the ultimate indulgence: an overwater cabana, the first in The Bahamas. This little slice of heaven includes overwater hammocks, showers, and a private slide to swish down into the warm, crystal-clear ocean below.

There’s no better spot to try the Coco Cuvée signature cocktail, a heady mix of Chandon Sweet Star, Malibu rum, coconut water, and pineapple juice.

Make sure you purchase Beach Club admission pre-cruise via Celebrity Cruise Planner, as entry is subject to availability. You may also book a cabana once onboard, if spots are still available. And remember when entering the Beach Club, you’ll need to present your SeaPass® card and wristband delivered to your stateroom the day prior.

Can I make advance reservations for any of the facilities at CocoCay?

Yes, you can book experiences at CocoCay just as you can shore excursions, via Celebrity Cruise Planner online or in the app. These include entry to the Thrill Waterpark, the zipline, the Up, Up and Away balloon, the Coco Beach Club, and private cabanas. If you decide to be spontaneous and treat yourself to any of these on the day of your visit, you can make reservations while on the island (subject to availability).

What kind of bars and restaurants can I expect at CocoCay?

There’s no shortage of choice for every taste at CocoCay. In between racing down the waterslides at Thrill Waterpark, refuel at the Snack Shack, serving up burgers, hot dogs, and salads. There’s a second Snack Shack at Chill Beach.

Dig into sizzling barbecue dishes, sandwiches, salads, and fresh tacos at Chill Grill in the Chill Island neighborhood, or Skipper’s Grill on the opposite side of the island, which has the same enticing menu.

Captain Jack’s, near the Arrivals Plaza where you’ll step ashore, has an all-day party atmosphere, with cooling Coco Locos, chicken wings, steak fries dipped in fiery sauces, and live jam sessions. There’s a charge to dine here.

If you’ve elevated your experience to the Coco Beach Club, you’ll enjoy coffee and pastries in the morning, and an inviting menu with a Caribbean theme at lunchtime, offering dishes like lobster rolls and garlic tiger prawns.

You’ll find gluten free and vegetarian options available at the Coco Beach Club restaurant as well as options to suit most dietary needs. Kosher foods are not prepared on Perfect Day at CocoCay — however, kosher requests can be accommodated onboard Celebrity Cruises ships."

How do I pay for the different experiences at CocoCay?

We recommended pre-booking and purchasing limited-availability experiences at CocoCay pre-cruise or onboard. You will pay for any activities you enjoy at CocoCay using your SeaPass card, so any extras will be charged to your onboard account, just as they are on the ship. If you’ve purchased a drink package, this will apply on the island, too. Dining throughout the island is complimentary, except for the Coco Beach Club, where dining is included in the purchase of admission to the Club.

Bring cash if you want to shop for souvenirs at the Straw Market. Also, don’t forget that many activities and places to eat are complimentary, including the Snack Shacks, the Chill Grill, and Skipper’s Grill.

Water and juice are available in all venues at no charge, and sun umbrellas are complimentary.

Will my All Included package be valid at CocoCay when I am ashore?

Yes, the packages pre-purchased or have chosen on the ship will be reflected in the bars and restaurants on CocoCay. If you’ve chosen All Included, you can enjoy cooling tropical cocktails, cold beer, and wine to your heart’s content.

What facilities are there for children and teens at CocoCay?

There are endless thrills for kids and teens at CocoCay, with lifeguards on duty throughout the park. You can let your teens loose at the Thrill Waterpark, while younger children will enjoy the waterslides at Splashaway Bay. Splash Summit has six slides, from a free-fall drop to The Twister.

Captain Jill’s Galleon has baby slides, water cannons, and a lookout tower, and is geared to younger children. Kids of all ages will love the zipline, which whisks you above the action along 1,600 adrenaline-boosting feet. Then there’s the wave pool, snorkel adventures, and the hot air balloon to try.

Please note that our kids’ club activity program doesn’t take place on CocoCay, but will still be available on board when the ship is docked at the island. Also, younger kids will need to be accompanied by someone over 14 to use the slides in the Thrill Waterpark.

For all Shore Excursions at Perfect Day at CocoCay (except Thrill Waterpark and the Certified Dive), all guests under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a supervising adult from their group 18 years or older."

Is there an adults-only space at CocoCay?

There are no adults-only spaces at CocoCay as we want everybody to enjoy the island. But there are quieter areas where you’ll find that dreamy tropical island sensation, like at Chill Island or the exclusive Coco Beach Club.

Are there designated smoking areas on Perfect Day at CocoCay?

Cigarette, cigar, e-cigarette and pipe smoking is permitted only in designated smoking areas. Please check wayfinding signs on the island for specific locations.

Are cabanas, beach chairs, and umbrellas available at CocoCay?

Beach umbrellas are available at no charge all over CocoCay. Daybeds are yours for a modest fee. Upgrade your experience with a private cabana at Chill Island, South Beach, Thrill Waterpark, and Oasis Lagoon. For the ultimate escape, choose a Beach Cabana or best of all, an exclusive Overwater Cabana at the swish Coco Beach Club.

Some cabanas include access to different neighborhoods. For example, take a cabana at the Thrill Waterpark and six guests will get complimentary access to the slides and activities. A cabana at Coco Beach Club includes access to the club and its facilities for up to eight.

Onboard Health Precautions

What are some of Celebrity’s health policies and recommendations?

Hand Washing

Guests are strongly encouraged to wash their hands with soap and hot water after using the restroom and before eating or handling food. Medical experts say this is one of the best ways to prevent illnesses from starting or spreading.

Illnesses and Isolation of Guests

Celebrity Cruises® follows practices and maintains policies that seek to prevent illnesses from affecting our guests. One of the best ways to prevent the spread of contagious illnesses like gastrointestinal viruses, colds and flu is to wash your hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds with soap and hot water after using the restroom and again before eating anything. In the event you experience symptoms that indicate a gastrointestinal illness, such as diarrhea or vomiting, or know of someone experiencing these symptoms, you must advise the medical staff immediately. In addition, some gastrointestinal illnesses remain contagious up to 72 hours or more after symptoms subside; therefore, if you or someone you know experienced such an illness just prior to your cruise, you must immediately notify the ship's medical staff. This will permit the crew to take steps to reduce the chance that your illness will spread to others on the ship. Failure to immediately report a contagious illness to the ship’s medical staff, or to accurately describe its onset, greatly increases the likelihood the illness will spread to others and is a violation of this Guest Conduct Policy. In the event of a contagious illness, the ship's crew will take steps to curtail its spread to other guests, including if necessary, steps set forth in the Consequences Section below.

Fitness to Travel Safely

Guests with disabilities are not required to travel with another person as a condition to traveling on our ships. However, all guests must consider that crew members are not required to assist guests with personal tasks or personal hygiene needs (e.g. assisting with eating, dressing, toileting). Therefore, guests requiring assistance with these functions should consider these needs when planning a cruise vacation.

If there is a question as to a prospective guest's ability to independently provide for their personal needs or hygiene without being a danger to themselves or others, and the guest plans to travel alone, this situation must be discussed with the company's Access Department prior to booking a cruise vacation. The Access Department can be reached at [email protected] or by calling 1.866.592.7225. This will allow an individualized assessment of the guest's fitness to travel for the duration of the cruise without personal assistance. Unaccompanied guests attempting to board or found onboard without the ability to independently care for their personal needs will be evaluated to determine if they are fit to safely travel without assistance. Guests who are found unfit to travel may be denied boarding or removed from the ship at the next port-of-call.

Guests must ensure that they bring an adequate supply of any medication they require for the entire duration of the cruise. The ship's medical centers may not have a supply of any needed medication and not all medication will be available in the ports-of-call. Guests must not pack medication in checked luggage to ensure you always have immediate access if needed.

What are your cleaning and sanitization standards on the ship? What guidelines apply, and how do you know they are sound? How is the crew trained to implement them effectively?

In compliance with strict standards set by U.S. Public Health Services (USPHS) and the Vessel Sanitation Program (VSP), our ships have always been maintained using the most rigorous cleaning regimens. All ships are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized prior to every voyage, and consistently and frequently throughout your sailing, with disinfecting cleaning agents and techniques that have been certified by health authorities as effective against SARS-Cov-2/COVD-19/Coronavirus and other pathogens. All chemicals are EPA-certified, alcohol-based, scentless, and safe for the general population. High-traffic and frequently touched areas like elevators, escalators, stairways, and promenades are cleaned every two hours and gangway rails every 20 to 30 minutes during busy times. Staterooms are cleaned daily and only while guests are out of the room, with particular attention paid to frequently used items and surfaces. All stateroom and housekeeping attendants will be continuously trained on the latest sanitization guidelines. We'll ensure cleaning standards are upheld through frequent stateroom inspections using black light technology to show surface wiping efficacy. Crew will have mandatory, ongoing training classes and refreshers that are documented to ensure all the latest protocols are being followed, in compliance with various international regulations, including the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

How are you ensuring guests are washing and sanitizing their hands?

Hand hygiene on board has always been a priority for us, as a proven way of helping protect the health and safety of our guests and crew, with numerous hand washing sink stations and hand sanitizer stations located throughout the ship. Now we have increased and enhanced those efforts by increasing the number of Purell® sanitizer stations around the ship by 75% and introducing Purell sanitizer wipe stations in high-touch areas.

How is air circulated and filtered on board? Is the air safe on board a cruise ship?

On Celebrity Cruises ships, 100% fresh ocean air is continuously supplied from outside. Intake of air occurs on one side of the ship for cooling and ventilation, then the air is removed via exhaust on the opposite side of the ship. This continual intake of fresh air replaces the air in any space, with a total air change up to 12 times an hour in staterooms, and about 15 changes an hour in large public spaces. Fan coil units in your stateroom and public spaces provide an extra layer of protection, continuously scrubbing the air of pathogens, using a high-grade MERV 13 filter that captures aerosols 0.3 to 1 micron in size with ~90% efficacy— fine enough to filter aerosolized viruses. An independent study by the University of Nebraska Medical Center confirmed that cross-contamination of air between adjacent spaces is virtually impossible thanks to this powerful system.

How are my linens and towels washed to ensure they are sanitized?

The temperature of washers and dryers onboard follows the guidance of the U.S. CDC to ensure all laundered goods, including towels, bed linens, and cloth napkins, are fully sanitized.

Will personal protective equipment like masks and personal hand sanitizer be available onboard?

We recommend each guest bring their personal preference of protective equipment, but if you do happen to forget or misplace your mask or other items, you may ask the Guest Relations desk or visit the sundry station onboard.

Is it a reccomendation to wear a mask onboard?

While onboard and in the cruise terminal throughout boarding, screening and disembarkation, masks are optional unless otherwise required by local ordinance.

We continuously monitor global health ordinances and may adjust this advisement to ensure the health and safety of our guests and crew. Guests will be notified pre-cruise or onboard, should we make changes to this policy.

Will crew members be vaccinated and wearing personal protective equipment like masks?

The health and safety of our guests and crew is our top priority. All crew members are provided with the tools and the training to follow all new protocols — including how to properly don personal protective equipment like face masks and gloves in roles in circumstances where they may be deemed necessary. Advisement to wear masks is subject to global and local health advisement.

If a guest or crew member starts feeling unwell during a voyage, what steps are taken? Can you test for SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19/Coronavirus and other pathogens while on the cruise, and if so, how soon do you have results?

If any of our guests or crew members ever feel unwell during their sailing, they can be immediately evaluated by medical staff, with an in-stateroom visit or by video tele-consultation. A multitude of evaluative tests can be conducted right onboard in our medical lab. This is just one capability of our enhanced Medical Center.

In the interest of public health onboard, isolation and/or quarantine may be required to prevent exposure to people who have or may have any kind of infectious disease. A guest that is diagnosed as having an infectious disease by a member of our medical staff onboard will need to isolate onboard for a period of time — either until they can be safely disembarked at a port of call with private transport home, or when the sailing concludes back at the home port where it started. Those guests who meet the threshold to be deemed a close contact will need to meet necessary quarantine and/or testing requirements based on their vaccination status.

Guests who must isolate due to an infectious disease diagnosis will remain in their stateroom or be moved to a stateroom near the medical center where medical staff and Guest Services will check on them regularly, depending on availability. Complimentary amenities including room service and WiFi will be provided.

Guests treated on board may request copies of their medical records by filling out the Online Request Form .

If a guest or crew member tests positive for SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19/Coronavirus or other pathogen while onboard, what is your response plan?

In the event any of our guests or crew tests positive for COVID-19 onboard, we have a robust, tiered response plan in place that we've developed with guidance from local authorities and leading public health experts. The tiers increase protocols and vigilance onboard while providing transparent updates to guests the whole way. In partnership with local authorities, Celebrity Cruises has developed transport protocols to ensure the ship can return to port safely.

Onboard Safety Precautions

What happens in an emergency situation if I have to disembark the ship during my cruise?

How many life boats will there be on my cruise?

Are there floatation devices onboard for children?

Do you provide anything if I start to feel seasick?

Onboard Security

What security measures are in place onboard?

Your safety and security is our highest priority and we have processes in place to help ensure a safe and enjoyable vacation experience.

The Staff Captain (second in command of the ship) directly oversees the daily security operations onboard, which are run by Security Officers. Security teams include other professional security personnel, such as Deputy Security Officers, Guest Security Supervisors, Supervisors, and Security Guards.

Security Guards and Supervisors wear light blue shirts with a distinctive epaulet on each shoulder and a gold badge on their left pocket. You may approach them when you see them around the ship. You may also ask our Guest Services Staff to notify our Security Staff if you need to speak with them.

To report a crime or other emergency situation on board, you may dial a designated emergency number (8888 on most ships but check your Guest Services Directory to confirm) from any shipboard telephone. A ship's officer will ensure that appropriate security and medical personnel, if necessary, are immediately sent to your location to assist.

Security Officers receive specialized training. They are certified by the Security Industrial Authority of the United Kingdom and are directly trained by specialists such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation. They are also guided by procedures developed in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Allegations of criminal incidents onboard Celebrity ships do occur, just as they do on land. However, their rate is significantly below the rate of crime on land. By policy and by law, all such allegations are reported to law enforcement, including the FBI, and they can and do board our ships to investigate and prosecute.

Overall, it is recommended that you exercise the same level of precaution at sea as you do in social settings on land.

Celebrity has closed-circuit television cameras located in hundreds of strategic, public locations throughout the ship but not in private staterooms, public restrooms or private spa areas. These systems are upgraded as new technologies are developed. Recordings from these cameras are routinely utilized by our security teams and made available to investigative authorities as requested.

My bag wasn’t delivered to my stateroom because it was held by security, is this a normal process?

Yes. Just like the security screening at an airport, we also screen all luggage brought on board to ensure everyone’s safety. If an item within locked luggage is prohibited or believed to be prohibited, the bag will be taken to the luggage screening location onboard. The guest is informed to proceed to the designated area to complete the luggage inspection. During the screening process, we will ensure the correct procedures are followed while adhering to any Healthy Sail Panel recommended procedures. If a prohibited item is confiscated, during the luggage inspection process, the guest will receive a Prohibited Items Receipt. The Prohibited Items Receipt provides instructions on how to collect confiscated items at the end of the voyage. The guests must show their Prohibited Items Receipt to retrieve the confiscated item on the final day of the voyage. VIEW ITEMS PROHIBITED ONBOARD

Celebrity Cruise Gratuities (Tips): Full Guide to Cost & How They Work

When it comes to cruising Celebrity, just like with other lines, gratuity charges are a part of life. If you’ve cruised before, then you’re familiar with these charges, which can add up to hundreds of dollars on your cruise.

If you haven’t cruised — or you haven’t sailed on Celebrity — then there are a number of things you should know about the daily gratuity charges as they add up to a significant expense on your trip.

Celebrity cruise ship

In This Article...

What are gratuities on a cruise anyway?

First and foremost, before we get to the details of the gratuity charges on Celebrity, it’s helpful to understand just what gratuities are. If you haven’t sailed before, they can be a surprise.

These charges are a pre-set amount that acts as a tip that’s paid by each passenger and then distributed to the crew. In the old days of cruising, these tips were done via cash put in envelopes and handed to the crew by passengers at the end of the trip.

Today, it’s all done automatically through your onboard account. So instead of making sure you’ve tipped everyone who has offered service during this cruise, it’s all wrapped up into one payment.

How much are gratuities on a Celebrity cruise?

As a higher-end cruise line, Celebrity charges slightly more than what’s seen by larger “mass market” lines. Still, the rate is comparable.

As of now, Celebrity charges between $17.50 to $21.00 per person, per day, depending on the room that you book:

  • $17.50 USD per person, per day for Inside, Ocean View, and Veranda cabins
  • $18.00 USD per person, per day for Concierge Class and AquaClass cabins
  • $21.00 USD per person, per day for those staying in The Retreat.

Note that as of July 2022 those staying in Retreat or AquaClass rooms have the gratuity amount included with the cruise fare.

These rates can add up. Consider a couple traveling in a balcony (Veranda) cabin. In this case, they would each pay $17.50 per day. That comes out to the following based on the length of the cruise:

  • 3 Days: $105.00
  • 4 Days: $140.00
  • 5 Days: $175.00
  • 6 Days: $210.00
  • 7 Days: $245.00

( You can use our gratuity calculator here to see how much tips will be on your cruise .)

As you can see, the amount paid can be a significant added expense to your cruise.

Who has to pay gratuities on the cruise?

Some (not all) cruise lines offer a break on gratuities for young children. Celebrity does not. All passengers on the cruise — regardless of age — are charged the daily amount. So a family of four taking a cruise will see a charge for each individual, not just the adults.

How do I pay the gratuities?

When it comes to payment, you have several options.

First, you can prepay the gratuity charge when you book your cruise. It’s as simple as checking a box and having the price added on to your cruise fare. Some people prefer this way as it gets the charge out of the way. Others prefer to delay paying the gratuity charges until they are on the ship.

Second, as mentioned you can wait until you are on the ship to pay the gratuity. In that case, they will be charged to your onboard account, and paid with the payment method on file at the end of the cruise.

The third way to pay is with Celebrity’s All Included offer . With this deal, when you book your cruise you have the ability to just buy the base fare or the All Included fare, which is more expensive. But this offer includes a drink package, wi-fi, and gratuities with the price of the cruise, meaning they are taken care of instead of being an additional, separate charge.

Can I change the amount owed? What if I receive bad service?

For some people, the idea of having to pay a gratuity charge before you’ve even stepped on the ship is strange. Others worry about having to pay a charge if they actually receive poor service while on the ship (frankly, this is unlikely to happen). No matter, some people want to know if you can adjust the gratuity amount owed.

According to Celebrity’s website, “automatic daily gratuities may be adjusted at the guest’s discretion onboard at Guest Relations.”

That said, unless there is something genuinely wrong with the service on the ship, it’s generally considered poor taste to lower the gratuity amount. While some may not agree with the charge, it still goes to help compensate the crew.

What staff/crew is covered by the gratuities?

While a detailed breakdown of how the money paid is divided among crew isn’t available, Celebrity says the following regarding the charge:

“Gratuities for stateroom and restaurant services are shared by dining, bar and culinary services staff, stateroom attendants, and other hotel services teams.”

So it will cover most spots around the ship, but not all.

Does Celebrity’s gratuity charge cover everyone on the ship? Are there other places to pay a tip?

In general, the gratuity charge covers most places on the ship such as in the dining rooms and your cabin steward. However, there are some places on the ship where you will see an additional tip charge. This is usually anywhere you pay extra for a service like a bar or the spa.

Celebrity charges and 18% additional gratuity on spa and salon purchases. As well, specialty dining sees an 18% rate as well.

Bar services — like the beverage package — see a 20% gratuity rate on purchases.

Is there anything else to know about Celebrity’s gratuities?

Earlier, the All Included rate was mentioned for trips aboard Celebrity. With this rate, you pay a higher cruise fare, but a drink package, wi-fi, and the gratuity is included in the fare.

For some passengers, this rate will make a lot of sense but you’ll want to do the math. You’ll want to compare the extra amount you’ll pay for the All Included fare, but then back out the cost of the items included, such as the gratuities.

For example, if the base rate for a 7-day cruise is $1,000 per person, and the All Included rate is $1,300, then you can back out $122.50 for gratuities from the $300 difference, meaning you’re paying $177.50 for a drink package and wi-fi.

This ‘tipping culture’ is funny. If you earn so little that you ‘live’ from tips then reconsider taking jobs in such a poor cruise lines that pay you nothing. I always cancel my auto tipping while on board because it is not a part of European culture to tip everyone for nothing. If I see that for example my cabin crew is so good that I’m happy then I tip them by cash. Don’t go with those auto tipping, you just encourage companies that earn lots of money from cheap labour.

Calling Celebrity (How to get through to a real person w/ less frustration)

Cool Cruiser

Need to speak to a real person? Here's a distillation from other threads and my own experience for anybody else who needs it:

TLDR: I got through to a real person with the least hassle/frustration by dialing 888-859-7692 then pressing 2 then 1 at which point I was given the opportunity to request a return call within a specified time-frame (which was actually quite accurate!). If you love details, keep reading: There are at least 3 toll-free numbers you can call:  888-751-7804 (displayed on CelebrityCruises.com) 888-303-6067 (buried within another thread) 888-859-7692 (also buried within another thread)

As far as I can tell from trying each, the functionality of each number is identical to the others.  When you call in, you will be given 2 prompts:  First Prompt:

- If you are or are working with a Travel Agent Press 1 - If you booked directly with Celebrity, Press 2 - To book directly with a Celebrity sales associate, Press 3

- To ask a question about a past cruise, Press 4

Second Prompt:

- If you reserved with a certified vacation planner, Press 1

- Through a travel agent, Press 2

- If you booked directly through the website, Press 3 Because I had booked online, I tried the first phone number above, then chose 2, 1 which had me on hold for 2.25 hours before I finally gave up (I had it playing in the background while watching a TV show and reading CruiseCritic; otherwise, it would've been complete unbearable!). The annoying thing was that it kept repeating the same message about every 60 seconds: "Please continue to hold. Your call will be answered by our next available representative." There was never any indication of my place in line or approximately how long to expect before I could get through to a real person.  Thanks to some other kind folks here on Cruise Critic, I found the other phone numbers above and one comment that said that they were offered the opportunity to leave a callback number, which does NOT happen on the Press 2 Press 3 option at any of the above-listed lines. I don't know why they want to punish people who book via the website, but considering the glitches that have been reported lately and my confidence in Celebrity as a whole going down by the minute, I decided to proceed with Press 2, Press 1 and was offered the opportunity to leave my name and number, then the automated system said it would be 60-90 minutes. Once I left my information, the estimated time was adjusted to 85 minutes and it was within 2 minutes of that! I did have about 5 minutes waiting on the line before the real person did pick up, but it was far preferable to the indefinite wait on hold.  I approached with kindness and got my needs met very quickly.  I hope this helps other travelers as it seems there are a lot of people calling (the Celebrity rep told me this) and certainly the lengthy hold times confirm that!

Thanks

Maybe the new president of operations, Laura,  should try calling the advertised number and get the true Celebrity experience.

Haha

844.418.6824 got me through immediately.

800-437-3111  20- 30 mins this morn

844.418.6824 20-25 min this morn.

On hold  😞  I guess they really do not want my $!  And yes, I am aware that I can pay online, however, there is a change in address and CC on file that I need to speak to Celebrity about prior to payment.  And yes, I usually transfer the rez to a TA for ease and extra OBC or savings.  I missed the 30 day deadline to transfer the rez.  My bad.

800-437-3111  Phoned again and pressed prompt that said "new booking."  I guess Celebrity has our biz this time.  However, I will checking luxury lines going forward.

  • PASSPORT, INSURANCE & IMPORTANT INFORMATION

When can I expect to receive my final documents?

Cruise vouchers will be sent to you via mail or email 2-3 weeks prior to departure. Please note that cruise tickets will not be released by the cruise line until after each guest has completed the pre-cruise registration. Pre-cruise registration can generally be completed after final payment is made.

When will my airline itinerary be made available?

Air arrangements purchased through the cruise line are generally made available about 3 weeks prior to departure. Please note that air schedules are booked at the discretion of the cruise line and cannot be changed. Anyone requiring special itineraries/air carriers must arrange for custom air prior to final payment. The minimum charge for custom air itineraries ranges from approximately $35-$100 per person and additional charges may apply. Custom air should be booked as early as possible to insure flight availability. It is the traveler's responsibility to confirm seat assignments and other special services, such as special meals or wheelchair assistance directly with the airline.

What should I pack?

First and foremost, dress for comfort. Daily life aboard ship and in ports of call is laid-back and casual. You are encouraged to wear whatever makes you feel most comfortable: sportswear, shorts, slacks, sundresses and so on. Warmer temperatures call for clothing made of lightweight, breathable fabrics. For cooler temperatures we suggest casual clothes that can be layered easily. On some days you may need a raincoat and waterproof hat or umbrella. Gloves are a good idea as well. Footwear should include comfortable walking shoes for visits ashore and sandals or rubber-soled shoes for strolling on deck.

In the evening the dress codes varies according to the ship that you are sailing on. Most ships now offer a variety of restaurants to choose from and the dress codes for those restaurants will vary from casual to smart casual to formal. The suggested dress code in the ships' main dining rooms is generally sport shirts and slacks for men and sundresses or pants for women although some guests prefer to dress up for the occasion and are welcome to do so. In specialty restaurants and on the luxury cruise ships, jackets and ties for men are suggested for men and cocktail dresses or a nice pantsuit outfit would be appropriate for women. Tuxedos are no longer the norm for formal nights as even on the most formal of ships, a dark suit and tie are fine for the dressiest occasions. Tuxedos are usually available for rental if preferred. Again, these are guidelines and your evening attire is left up to your discretion.

Can I make restaurant and other onboard reservations in advance?

Many cruise lines now offer a variety of dining options including specialty restaurants. As these restaurants tend to be smaller it is recommended to make reservations in advance during the pre-cruise registration process. Reservations can also be made in advance for the Spa and for some other onboard activities and entertainment venues.

Should I reconfirm my airline reservations?

Most airlines require passengers to check in online on their website 24 hours prior to the flight departure time and to print out boarding passes. At this time you can set your profile preferences to be notified about schedule changes either by email, text or a phone call. Please note that while you need to check in 24 hours prior to your flight departure, boarding passes generally cannot be obtained in advance for international flights as the airlines need to be able to verify the validity of your passport and other boarding documents. Plan to be at the airline counter at least 1-1/2 hours before flight time for domestic flights and 2-1/2 hours before flight time for international flights to account for any possible delays.

Is parking available at the pier?

Parking available at most of the piers and the rates vary by location. Visit our Cruise Port Parking page for links and additional information about the parking facilities for specific ports. Please note that at some piers only cash is accepted.

How do transfers work?

Most cruise lines include transfers between the airport and the pier on embarkation/disembarkation day if you have purchased an air/sea package directly with them. Passengers providing their own air must get their own transportation to/from the pier. Prepaid transfers can be purchased separately from most cruise lines. Flight information must be provided to the cruise line with final payment if separate transfers have been purchased.

What are the boarding procedures?

Generally, you will be allowed to board two or three hours before the ship sails. Keep in mind that you must be on the ship at least one hour before departure, and the gangway will be pulled thirty minutes before sailing.

Upon completion of check-in, you will receive a guest identification card. This card will serve as your identification on-board and will be used as your payment method for all onboard charges. In addition, it will also serve as your identification for security procedures when embarking and disembarking the ship and when making purchases on board.

As you walk up the gangway, a member of the cruise staff will welcome you aboard. Your luggage will be delivered to your cabin shortly after it arrives at the ship. You will only have your hand luggage while boarding so be sure to keep important articles such as medicines, cameras, diapers and other necessary items in your carry-on luggage. It's also a good idea to pack your bathing suit in your carry-on luggage so that you can enjoy the pool area while waiting for your luggage to be delivered. Once you are on board you are free to explore the ship. Refreshments are available during embarkation and most cruise lines offer a nice buffet lunch (depending on the departure time).

What is the visitor policy?

For security reasons most cruise lines have implemented a "no visitor" policy aboard their vessels.

Can I use my hair dryer, shaver or other electronic equipment?

Most ships have 110-volt outlets in the staterooms however nearly all ships now feature hair-dryers in the cabins. While traveling outside of the US a converter and an adapter is usually necessary for most electronic devices. Some ships sailing outside of North America offer both 110 and 220-volt outlets. Most hotels outside of the US only offer 220-volt outlets.

Can we stay in touch with the outside?

  • Mass Media: Most ships have a daily newsletter with news, headlines, selected stock quotes and sports scores. Staterooms on most ships are equipped with televisions featuring a variety of news and entertainment channels.
  • Telephone: While most ships have telephones in passenger cabins, you can also call someone on shore through the ship's radio operator while at sea. Please note that the costs for ship to shore calling can be quite high. You can make phone calls from most ports and most cellular carriers offer international calling plans as well as Cellular at Sea plans that you can purchase for the specific time period before you depart for your trip. If you plan of making phone calls while abroad then pre-purchasing an international calling plan from your cellular carrier can help save you money. Please note that the Caribbean is considered international and roaming charges will apply if an international calling plan is not purchased. Please contact your specific mobile carrier for detailed information about the calling plans that they offer.
  • Fax and Internet: Many ships have fax capabilities and internet access. If you plan on using internet while onboard it is often less expensive to purchase an internet plan. Internet packages vary according to the amount of minutes purchased and can be used by most cell phones, laptops or other mobile devices. Information about specific plans can usually be found in your stateroom or at guest services.

What about tipping?

Gratuities vary by cruise line and are usually added to your shipboard account. A general rule of thumb is to plan for about $12.50 to $15.00 per person per day which includes gratuities for your room steward and dining room staff. On many cruise lines it is now possible to prepay the above gratuities. Certainly, if you have received exceptional service from an employee and want to give an additional tip as a token of appreciation, then cash can certainly be offered. On most cruise lines a 15%-18% gratuity is automatically added to beverage purchases, spa packages and other service related items which you may adjust according to services rendered. Most luxury cruise lines and river cruise lines include tipping in the price and will advise you accordingly.

Will I have a shipboard account?

Most cruise lines have set up a "cashless" system designed to make your life on board as simple as possible. You simply sign a receipt for each of your on-board purchases and then settle your shipboard account at the end of the cruise. Cash, VISA, American Express, MasterCard, Discover, and personal or traveler's checks are accepted as payment on most cruise lines.

What is the shipboard check cashing policy?

Most cruise lines will cash traveler's checks. Personal checks cannot be cashed and cash cannot be drawn from your shipboard account.

Are there laundry services aboard?

Almost all cruise ships have laundry facilities and a great many provide dry-cleaning services. There is, however, an additional charge for professional laundry and dry-cleaning services. Many ships also have self-service launderettes.

Can we celebrate a "special" day?

All cruise lines will make your "special" day special. Most will even treat you to a complimentary cake and a chorus of Happy Whatever to honor the occasion.

Are there medical services onboard?

Virtually every cruise ship (except for some smaller vessels operating in coastal waters) has a fully-equipped medical facility and staff to handle almost any emergency.

Your prescription medication should be kept close at hand in your purse or carry-on bag rather than in your checked luggage. Be sure to bring a sufficient supply of medication and transport it in the original container. It is also a good idea to carry a written list of your medications in case they are lost. The list should include the name of the drug, dosage, and times taken.

Please note that charges are usually incurred for services provided by onboard medical personnel. This is another reason why the purchase of travel insurance is very strongly suggested.

Do the cruise lines offer shore excursions?

Shore excursions can be purchased in advance with the Cruise.com Shore Excursion Department or with the cruise line. Shore excursions will help you make the most of your time in port and provide you with the best transportation and guide services available. Excursions can range from simple walking tours to zip-lining, helicopter rides and even custom shore excursions.

Do I need travel insurance?

Travel insurance can be purchased through the cruise line or Allianz Global Assistance prior to final payment with Cruise.Com. prior to final payment with Cruise.Com. The price will vary depending on the cost and length of your cruise. The purchase of travel insurance is strongly recommended. Once you are within the final payment period the cruise lines will impose strict cancellation penalties as outlined in their brochures. These penalties will not be waived even for medical reasons. Travel Insurance plans may also provide emergency medical benefits for covered illness or injury that occurs during your trip. Most personal insurance policies, including Medicare, do not provide coverage outside the U.S. Please contact Cruise.Com for further details.

Do I need a passport?

AIR TRAVEL All U.S. citizens including children must present a passport or other approved travel document when entering the United States by air. U.S. citizens can present a passport, NEXUS card at airports with NEXUS kiosks, U.S. military ID with travel orders, or a U.S. Merchant Mariner Document when on official business.

CRUISE TRAVEL U.S. citizens returning home from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean or Bermuda, by land or sea, will be required to present one of the travel documents listed below.

U.S. Passport – This is an internationally recognized travel document that verifies a person’s identity and nationality. It is accepted for travel by air, land and sea.

U.S. Passport Card – This is a new, limited-use travel document that fits in your wallet and costs less than a U.S. Passport. It is only valid for travel by land and sea.

Trusted Traveler Program Cards – NEXUS, SENTRI or FAST enrollment cards can speed your entry into the U.S. and are issued only to pre-approved, low-risk travelers. The cards are valid for use at land or sea; the NEXUS card can be used in airports with a NEXUS kiosk.

Note: Cruise Ship Passengers: U.S. citizens on closed-loop cruises (cruises that begin and end at the same U.S. port) will be able to enter or depart the country with a birth certificate and government-issued photo ID. Please be aware that you may still be required to present a passport to enter the countries your cruise ship is visiting. Check with your cruise line to ensure you have the appropriate documents.

U.S. and Canadian citizen children under age 16 arriving by land or sea from contiguous territory may also present an original or copy of his or her birth certificate, a Consular Report of Birth Abroad, a Naturalization Certificate, or a Canadian Citizenship Card.

U.S. and Canadian citizen children under age 19 arriving by land or sea from contiguous territory and traveling with a school group, religious group, social or cultural organization, or sports team, may also present an original or copy of his or her birth certificate, a Consular Report of Birth Abroad, a Naturalization Certificate, or a Canadian Citizenship Card.

The group should be prepared to present a letter on organizational letterhead with the following information:

  • The name of the group and supervising adult;
  • A list of the children on the trip, and the primary address, phone number, date of birth, place of birth, and name of at least one parent or legal guardian for each child; and
  • A written and signed statement of the supervising adult certifying that he or she has obtained parental or legal guardian consent for each participating child

These rules, requirements and regulations became effective on June 1, 2009 and replace all previous requirements. Cruise.com is not liable for any fees or penalties if passengers are denied boarding for failure to provide adequate documentation of citizenship.

OUR RECOMMENDATION Cruise.com strongly recommends that all guests travel with a valid passport during their cruise. This greatly assists guests who may need to fly out of the United States to meet their ship at the next available port should they miss their scheduled embarkation in a U.S. port; guests entering the U.S. at the end of their cruise; and guests needing to fly to the U.S. before their cruise ends, because of medical, family, personal or business emergencies, missing a ship's departure from a port of call, involuntary disembarkation from a ship due to misconduct, or other reasons.

Guests who need to fly to the United States before their cruise ends will likely experience significant delays and complications related to booking airline tickets and entering the United States if they do not have a valid U.S. passport with them.

All Non-U.S. citizens: Any non-US citizen who has previously been admitted to the United States for permanent residence must carry their passport and Alien Registration Receipt Card. All other non-U.S./non-Canadian citizens must have valid passports and any necessary visas. Such guests should verify carefully the existing identification requirements for their particular travel situation, as these requirements may change.

IMPORTANT: ALL guests should carefully verify the existing identification requirements for their particular travel situation DIRECTLY WITH THE CRUISE LINE OR THEIR LOCAL CONSULATES OR EMBASSIES, as these requirements may change. Guests arriving for embarkation without proper documentation may be denied boarding and will not be entitled to a refund.
