Foreign exchange

I will use it as a learning experience as I shouldn't have exchanged so much NZ $ when my travelling mates had no trouble getting money out at international airports at lower cost. I was told I was getting a very good deal as we booked our flights through Flight Centre ? I do have to say the man I dealt with at Travel Money was very efficient.

A very pleasant experience as a new customer although I cannot remember being told what the rate was even though it was held for 2 days and turned out to be higher than the bank rate. Lots of currencies but watch the exchange rates and the price matching claim

The best part is having a range of currency which banks certainly do not carry. However for the main currencies, the exchange rate is not so wonderful. And legally you cannot advertise that you price match unless you are actually going to do so. Giving an explanation about not charging fees to change currencies as justification for not price matching is not sufficient. So you need to either lose the price matching claim or price match without any fees.

Really bad. Always check their website exchange rate before going into any office

They gave me a really low exchange rate from NZ dollars to Australian dollars. I checked the rates online in Travel Money NZ 10 minutes after I exchanged the money and using the website the exchange rate was much much better. I can't believe they try to trick you into giving you such a low exchange rate when you offer a higher one in the website. I understand they try to get a better deal from the customer, but it was a completely rip-off. Really disappointing.

I was completely lost as to what I…

I was completely lost as to what I needed to do, the lovely gentleman who served me gave me fantastic advice and put me at ease. Such a easy process and excellent service.

Dodgy transaction

The Indian staff who catered to me was very unprofessional. I gave a total of 1200 in cash to be converted to New Zealand dollars and he counted 1000 instead. I corrected him and told him to count again and he dismissed me. When he finally recounted it was indeed 1200 and he didn’t even apologize. He didn’t even tell me the rates or any vital informations about the transaction. I had to ask every single question with one worded replies from him. I will not be returning here as it felt really un-secure. Also when I asked for the rates and wanted to make sure he didn’t short me, he very rudely scoffed at me.

I have not been able to top up my card…

I have not been able to top up my card and it hasn't worked in the machines in singapore. I have spent 3 days on the phone trying to sort it out, i have tried topping up via the app and online to no avail. I was told that the reason was because the name on my debit card didn't match my passport card and that my card was a joint holder card. Rubbish excuses as my son got the same error message and he's single and his card names match. Was told to wait 24 to 48 hours before trying again, that still didn't work and was told to try to use a different payment method still leaving me with no access to money when I needed it ovet the weekend. Will not be using cash passport in the future and do not recommend anyone else does either

The service was excellent

The service was excellent, however, I was quoted the wrong rate in error. Hence the 3 stars, I walked away with a lot less than expected and because of the mix up, I didn’t think too much about the new rate until I got home. If I had been quoted this rate at the start I wouldn’t have brought the currency, I would have waited for another day when the rate was higher.

Only one cash passport can be issued per customer in total.
• A practical example of an instance where Travel Money NZ may not be able to beat a competitor’s price is when the competitor’s price is more than or equal to 5% better than the price at which Travel Money NZ buys its wholesale currency for.
• Proof of the better price must be provided by official written quotation from the competitor, or must be published as an available price to the general public on the provider's website or marketing materials. The competitor must have the currency quoted in stock and available to complete the transaction on the day the claim is made.
• Quotations must state the specific time and date of the quote and be given to us prior to making a transaction to allow comparison in real terms against the current days opening mid-market rate. Travel Money NZ reserves the right to verify the quote electronically, in person or via telephone with that provider. We will not be required to beat a quote if you do not comply with these terms and conditions.
• Due to the daily fluctuations of the rate of exchange, a ‘Best Rate’ claim can only be made on the same calendar day to ensure a fair and consistent competitor comparison.
• 'Lowest cost', 'Best Price', ‘Overall Transaction Price’ and 'Best Rate' are defined as the lowest "real cost" charged for a transaction at any given rate. This includes fees that other providers call 'Fees', and fees that are hidden in the rate mark-up. So in other words, for a given exchange rate, Travel Money NZ will guarantee the maximum amount of foreign currency paid out (or vice versa in the case of a foreign currency buy transaction).
• The Best Price Guarantee applies to competitors who are deemed to be foreign exchange retailers / Bureau De Change operators whether online or from a physical location. It does not apply to a competitor’s quote based on exchanges made using foreign exchange derivative products, or available via foreign exchange trading products whether online, in person or via a broker.
• Should an instance occur where a customer finds a variation in exchange rate between the Travel Money NZ website and a physical store location, or between various Travel Money NZ locations, the best price applicable within that comparison will be offered to the customer.
• The Best Price Guarantee only applies to buy and / or sell transactions of foreign currency notes. MoneyGram, Multi-currency Cash Passport and Cover-More Travel Insurance are excluded from the offer.
• Competitor quotations must be available to a member of the general public and not exclusive to a closed user group.
• The maximum claim (exchange transaction value) a customer may make under the best rate guarantee is $5,000 NZD or its equivalent in foreign currency at the competitor’s rate, which is being beaten.

Yes, you can use a credit card to purchase travel money. However, please check with your card provider as they may apply fees or charges e.g. cash advance fees or other fees.

Our Bureaux accept the majority of UK issued major credit cards.

Should I get foreign currency before I travel?

Buying your travel money before you travel can be an important part of pre-holiday preparation. You can use our Currency Converter to get the latest exchange rates across worldwide holiday destinations.

Where can I collect M&S Travel Money from?

You can collect M&S Travel Money from over 100 bureaux de change or from over 350 stores nationwide. You can find your nearest M&S Bureau de Change using our Bureau Finder .

Where can I get the best exchange rate?

Exchange rates change on a regular basis and vary depending on the currency you order. At M&S Bank, we offer our best rates for euro and US dollar via the Click & Collect service, where you can order your currency and collect from the next day in an M&S location local to you. If you order online before 4pm, you can collect the same day. For all other currencies, check our website for more information.

How much travel money can I order?

For orders placed via Click & Collect, there is a minimum £150 order and maximum of £2,500. For Bureau de Change walk-ups, there is no minimum order.

How do I confirm my Travel Money purchase using my M&S Credit Card?

There are three ways to verify your payments - you can use our M&S Banking App, a one-time passcode via text message or by using a card reader to verify your payment. Use our how-to videos or step-by-step guides to find out more.

At Travel Money NZ, we consider ourselves more traveller than banker.  As one of our Sales Consultants, you'll be an expert in our key products: foreign currency, prepaid travel money cards, and international money transfers. Success with us means listening to your customer, asking open questions to understand their needs, and offering solutions that help them get the most out of their holiday. Competitive salary of $43,000 base salary + a guaranteed commission top up of $7,000, giving an annual salary of $50,000.
