Gulliver's Milton Keynes (also known as Gulliver's Land) is a theme park aimed at children aged 3-13. It was the third of the four parks in the Gulliver's chain to open, and like the others has a strict policy of only admitting adults if they are accompanying a child. The park hosts an area (Lilliput Land) dedicated to the classic Gulliver's Travels story, and also features lands themed around toys and exotic adventures. At its heart sits Lilliput Land Castle, which doubles as an attraction and a food court.
Park History
Gulliver's Land opened in 1999, and is a relatively compact theme park that features a Disneyland-style "hub-and-spoke" layout centered on Lilliput Land Castle. It borrows many of its rides and themes from the original Gulliver's Matlock Bath park, although it features a slightly more coherent design as its growth has been less organic. It is owned by the family of Ray Phillips, who opened the original Gulliver's park in 1978 as a model village.

Loosely themed around the stories of Gulliver's adventures, Gulliver's Land is a theme park in Milton Keynes exclusively for children.
Horses Carousel on Main Street at the entrance to the park
Gulliver’s Land was opened in Milton Keynes in 1999 and is the third park in the Gulliver’s theme park chain.
Although not as large as the flagship Gulliver’s World in Warrington , Gulliver’s Land packs a huge amount of rides and attractions into its small footprint, all aimed at children between 2 and 13 years old.
Behind the entrance to the park is a small Main Street which leads to the park’s castle. Beyond this are four major themed lands - Adventure World, Lilliput Land, Western World and JCB Zone which was added in 2017. It all feels rather like a small-scale Disneyland .
Operating a digger in JCB Zone
Lilliput Land features a dark ride telling the story of Gulliver’s Travels, together with Dragon Siege, an inverting spin ride which is by far the most extreme ride in the park and the only one to turn visitors upside down.
The jungle themed Adventure World includes The Jungle River boat ride which takes riders on an adventure past various jungle scenes, and the Jungle Falls dinghy slide.
A corner of Western World
Neighbouring Western World is themed around the Wild West and contains Gulliver’s Land’s log flume, Runaway Train rollercoaster and the Silver Mine dark ride.
The final land, JCB Zone, feels a bit out of place compared to the rest of the park, but provides a great play space for kids to operate diggers and pretend to be builders for the day. JCB Zone features the Crazy Crane drop tower which towers over the rest of the park, and confusingly the indoor Crazy Mouse rollercoaster which doesn’t really have anything to do with JCB.
Overall Gulliver’s Land is nicely done and, despite its small size, has more than enough to do to entertain a family for a day out. Notably, Gulliver’s policy of only allowing families to enter (no adult only groups are allowed) helps create a friendly atmosphere which is perpetuated by some wonderful staff members and nicely thought out attractions.

Gulliver's Land: everything you need to know about the Milton Keynes theme park
Gulliver's Land is a great day out for all the family!
- 10:37, 7 JAN 2021
- Updated 17:17, 10 JAN 2021
Do you want to enjoy a day out with the family where even the kids can have fun?
Gulliver’s Land in Milton Keynes is the ideal trip for parents and children up to the age of 12 to let their inner child out and experience some thrilling rides.
The theme park, which opened in 1999, was designed with the happiness of children in mind and is one of three Gulliver parks - the other two being Gulliver’s World and Gulliver’s Kingdom.
Gulliver's Land gives customers the opportunity to jump on some of their classic theme park rides or take a tour of their attractions. Children aged 2-13 can even take in some of the kids shows on offer.
When children get to the park, they can even visit the JCB Zone - which was launched back in 2017 as a collaboration with construction equipment manufacturers JCB. The JCB zone gives kids the chance to experience JCB style rides such as driving a JCB tractor.
If you're an adult and want to leave the kids in the JCB Zone while you have fun, you can take a risk by jumping on the crazy rides at the theme park – from going on a scary experience on The Python to playing with death and letting yourself go on The Free Fall or going underground in the dark by getting on board The Runaway Train Coaster.
If you're too tired to take the long journey home, you can take in the full experience by staying at the theme park’s own hotel.
The Adventurers Village is a key part of the resort and families can stay over for a unique short break. There's a variety of themed cabins people can stay in and they range from a Woodland Lodge to a Den to a little hideout made out of Bricks.
You can even get a taste of the jungle by staying in Safari theme tents.
There's other parts to the park, too, that you can enjoy so you're never feeling like you've done everything such as the Splash Zone, Blast Arena, The SFEAR and Dinosaur and Farm Park.
There’s even a Gulliver’s Meadow Campsite where you can set up your own tent and enjoy a peaceful night's sleep staring up at the stars.
The theme park is open on selective days in February and March from 10.30am-4pm but for the rest of 2021 it will be open on selective days from 10.30am-5pm.
Prices vary to gain entry into the park and for the best prices, it’s recommended to book online with at least 2 days in advance before you make your trip to the park.
The different prices include:
- Adult/ Child - Online £25 / Online Advance £19
- Senior - Online £23 / Online Advance £18
- Under 90cm – FREE / FREE
- Concessionary - Online £14 / Online Advance £14
If one day isn’t enough to satisfy you, you can even get a Gulliver passport for £99 that allows you to enjoy 12 months of theme park fun.
The passport can be used at all of Gulliver Land's theme parks as well as the dinosaur and farm park in Milton Keynes and at Gulliver's splash zones.
The theme park is usually open from February all the way until the festive season of Christmas.

Gulliver’s Land of Lights Lantern Festival 2023 Milton Keynes (REVIEW) – Is it worth visiting with kids?
I visited the Land of Lights Lantern Festival 2023 at the Gulliver’s Dino & Farm Park Resort, Milton Keynes, on its opening day and also published the full walkthrough video on my channel . Today, in this article, I am sharing all the details you need to know about this event. So, get ready for an enchanting trail through 12 incredible worlds inspired by legendary fairytales and iconic characters at the Land of Lights show this year!
Land of Lights 2023-24 Lantern Festival, Milton Keynes, Date & Time:
The Land of Lights lantern festival started on 21st October 2023 and will run until 25th February 2024 at the Gulliver’s Dinosaur & Farm Park resort, Milton Keynes. This festival will also entertain the people of Warrington, UK, from 11th November 2023.
How To Reach Land of lights, The Gulliver’s Dinosaur & Farm Park, Milton Keynes?
The Gulliver’s Land is a family-friendly theme park resort that includes Gulliver’s Land Theme Park, Dinosaur and Farm Park , Splash Zone, and themed accommodations. The Land of Lights 2023 event is happening at the Gulliver’s Dino & Farm Park, which is a separate tourist attraction.
Free parking is available at the park. We booked a cab from our apartment, and the driver left us right in front of the venue within 15 minutes.
If you are coming from London, then first take a direct train from Euston to Milton Keynes Central train station. From there, you can take a bus or taxi to reach the Dinosaur Park

Things To see & Do at Land Of Lights 2023-24 Event, Milton Keynes (Review):
Upon reaching the venue, we showed our pre-booked online tickets to the security personnel. The huge decorative entrance gate itself is so fascinating; I couldn’t wait to enter the park 😍!
This year, classic children’s literature takes the spotlight at the Land of Lights festival, bringing beloved tales to life. Hence, the light trail starts with the classic book- Around the World in 80 Days! You’ll see a giant globe-shaped structure decorated with several colored circular lanterns and surrounded by a few of the world’s most popular tourist landmark installations, such as the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty, etc.
The Land of Lights event has a couple of gorgeous photo booths to take pictures of yourself or family. The first one is this beautiful butterfly photo spot! Adjacent to it, you’ll see the famous ‘The Time Machine’ tale installation.
The enchanting trail then leads you to the most adventurous land of this amusement park, which is the ‘Lost World’ area filled with 32 life-like animatronic dinosaurs and pre-historic trees. The big trees adorned with gorgeous colorful lanterns are a feast to the eyes 😍.
The narrow pathways are lined with beautiful floral lanterns, making the forest look uber cool and mesmerizing. The ‘Barefoot Walk’ features a huge elephant display from the Ice Age era.
If you or your kids have watched ‘Jurassic Park’ or any other Dinosaur-based movies, you’ll certainly enjoy this show. While wandering around the wonderland, we encountered the infamous T-Rex and other giant Dinosaurs . Listening to their roarings makes the light show even more fun.

The Farm Park is located next to the Dinosaur Park. The light show starts with the Children’s book – The Three Little Pigs . The various-sized pigs, a caterpillar, farmers with a donkey, and tractor displays look adorable.
There is a food zone in the same vicinity. The independent vendors are selling hotdogs, hot chocolates, mulled wines, and lots of tasty snacks.
Adjacent to it, they have placed the Children’s novels – ‘ The Wind in the Willows ’ and ‘ Story of Dr Dolittle ’ lantern displays.
The next Aesop’s Fables book series features the classic stories – The Tortoise & the Hare, The Fox & the Grapes, The Frog & the Ox, The Lion & the Mouse, and The Bee & the Spider lantern displays. The massive bee and its buzzing sound will surely draw your attention to it! In the daytime, it would be more fun to watch the animatronic insects at this park.
The ‘Animal Barn’ is located within the Farm Park, wherein you’ll get an opportunity to meet some cute farmyard animals . There are bunny rabbits, ponies, donkeys, pigs, goats, and super cute guinea pigs in the barn.
Once you exit the barn, along the illuminated trail, you’ll see several pretty children’s literature lantern installations, including the Little Red Riding Hood .
The next lantern displays were all about Halloween . I am unsure if you’ll still be able to see those lights, as Halloween 2023 is already over. I apologize for publishing this post in November instead of October!
Adjacent to it, you’ll find some cute yet impressive lantern installations designed by a kid , Anya, who is supposedly the winner of the lantern competition conducted by Land of Lights. Keep it up, kiddo!
Then we spotted the extravaganza Chinese New Year festival-themed lantern displays . The gorgeous red-colored dragon structure lantern and the arches look absolutely spectacular! I cannot describe it in words. Please watch my full walkthrough video to see its true beauty.
ALSO READ: 10 Reasons To Choose Train Travel Over Car Travel
As I said before, the Land of Lights has several photo spots, and The Night Before Christmas structure is one of them! You can take your or your kids’ photos with Santa at this cute house-shaped booth.
The captivating Land of Lights trail then takes you to Romeo & Juliet world. As you walk through the glowing red rose-shaped lantern gate, you’ll reach the Mowgli’s den. If you have watched or read The Jungle Book story, you’ll love these light displays.
Oh, opposite to it, you’ll see Peter Pan flying high over Tower Bridge in London and the cute Alice from Alice in Wonderland with her animal friends , a white rabbit, and a caterpillar.
There is another lovely photo booth right before entering the Gulliver’s Travels book world. I did not read the novel, but I watched the movie several times.
A few steps away from the Gulliver’s zone, there is a beautiful lantern display depicting a crocodile swallowing an alarm clock . I guess this scene is from the Peter Pan book!
Along the light trail, you’ll also see a few stunning immersive lantern displays of mythical creatures from folklore and fairy tales, such as the unicorn, The Griffin, the Phoenix, the Snow Queen, the Little Mermaid, The Princess & the Pea, etc.
Last but not least, the giant decorative swans are a treat to the eyes! Although the Land of Lights trail ends here, we wanted to explore the Adventure Village, too. But as that area was too dark and reserved for the resort residents only, we finally decided to exit the event.

Overall, we had a great time at the Land of Lights 2023 show at the Gulliver’s Dinosaur & Farm Park Resort, Milton Keynes. We, as visitors, got the chance to immerse ourselves in the enchanting displays inspired by classic Children’s literature and legendary fairytales! Moreover, the parking area was well-lit and spacious. Since the event was less crowded on the opening day, we took our sweet time to wander around the park and take videos & photographs.
Is Land of Lights 2023 Lantern Festival, Milton Keynes, Worth Visiting With Kids?
Yes, absolutely! 😍 I highly recommend it to everyone who has kids or enjoys fairy tales ❤️.
We are not kids and do not have kids, either, yet we enjoyed the light show to the fullest. We were smitten with the magical lantern displays organized by the Zigong group & Land of Lights. I cannot wait to visit Gulliver’s Land Resort and this Dino Farm park again with my niece and nephews 😍!

Wow, that looks amazing. I would love to check that out sometime. I know my kids would love it too.
Thank you for this kind of review. At first, I am still unsure if I will go here with the kids, but now after I read your review about this place, I’ll surely go there and bring the kids.
This festival looks so amazing.. definitely would love to visit if near there
This look amazing! The lights are so pretty. We have a Gulliver’s Kingdom, just a 2minute drive down the road in Matlock Bath. But I don’t think they have this light event, which is such a shame.
I wish I lived closer so I could take my youngest to this one! She would absolutely love this light show and it looks really cool!
WOW, how beautiful! I bet my kids would really enjoy walking through the Gulliver’s Land of Lights Lantern Festival trail of lights, loving your pictures.
Land of lights seems like a wonderful event! Would love to go!!
I love all of these light displays, so much work put into it and I’d love to see something like this someday!
The kids will surely enjoy this type of festival as it is sure to be fun for them
I’ve always wanted to go to a lantern festival but they don’t have them here. This one is way too far away. Think the closest lantern festival might be at Disney in the Epcot park but not positive.
I would like to visit the Gulliver’s Land park! It has so many interesting activities!
