Brian and Teri were so helpful in planning our honeymoon! The staff is knowledgeable and secured us a great price. Will be using them again.

We have had nothing but good experiences with Chima! We love Michelle! We had several mishaps on our recent trip to the Dominican Republic. Michelle fixed them all and was on top of everything all the way through! We will never book a trip anywhere else!

I loved booking my travel through them. Brian made the process super easy. Book with him.

My wife and I stopped in this past Monday. We were greeted by Michelle. We told her we wanted to book a Fall Foliage cruise through New England and into Canada. She worked closely with us asking us pertinent questions on what we did/didn't like and offered good suggestions. We left so we could think it all over and returned the next day and booked a 10 day cruise. It was a little longer than we had planned, but we feel it's well worth the small amount difference in the price. Michelle was a big help to us and we appreciated all she did. Will we be back? We've found our new travel agency!

C.P. Chima, longtime leader of Akron-area travel agency, dies at 98

Cornelius P. “C.P.” Chima was born in 1918, the same year his father started a travel agency that initially focused on bringing Eastern and Southern Europeans to Akron.

Mr. Chima was integral in growing the business — today called Chima Travel — into one of the top regional travel agencies.

The West Akron resident died Saturday after a brief illness. He was 98.

“He didn’t have many hobbies,” said his son Craig Chima. “His hobbies were golf and business. He was very active in local business. He just loved to be involved.”

A graduate of Garfield High in Akron, Mr. Chima attended the University of Akron into his junior year before he joined the Air Force. He enlisted shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941, and he flew more than 40 missions in B-17 bombers and P-47 fighters.

He rose to the rank of colonel while serving in the U.S. Air Force.

In 1955, he married Cornelia (Neal) Stefia from Detroit, Mich. The couple, married for 61 years, raised three children, Lissa , Craig and Derek. Craig previously worked for the travel agency, founded by Mr. Chima’s father, Peter Chima. Derek continues to work at Chima Travel, where he and a member of the third generation, Lance Chima, serve as co-presidents.

In addition to overseeing Chima Travel for many years, Mr. Chima, along with other World War II veterans, founded GI Cab Co. In 1960, GI Cab purchased City Yellow Cab, and the two companies operated under one ownership until GI Cab dissolved in 1997. Members of the Chima family still own the surviving company.

Mr. Chima also joined with a group of veterans to develop Nob Hill, a cluster of houses in West Akron, in the 1950s and 1960s. Mr. Chima and the veterans also formed Boston Heights Corp., which invested in land in northern Summit County.

Craig Chima said his father “didn’t suffer fools lightly,” but “always had time for kind-hearted people. ... He had a soft-spot for people who were less fortunate and those who were working to better the community.”

The son said his father “always had time for his lifelong buddies. He never lost his Firestone Park roots.”

His family moved to Akron shortly after he was born in Newark, Ohio.

Chima Travel, now operating out of a single location in Fairlawn, began in the Firestone Park area of Akron, helping to fill the rubber companies’ need for workers by bringing immigrants to the city.

Mr. Chima greatly expanded the agency, opening branch locations.

Mr. Chima was proud of his work with The ARC (a nonprofit advocacy group for those with disabilities), as well as the Summit County Developmental Disabilities Board, his son said. In 2012, he and his wife, Cornelia, UA benefactors, received honorary doctorate degrees from the university.

Among his military awards was the Silver Star. He was awarded the honor for his rescue of a colleague’s crippled B-17 on one of his flying missions over Europe, according to a 2000 Beacon Journal article.

He is survived by Cornelia, and their three children.

A private family graveside service will take place at Rose Hill Burial Park in Fairlawn.

Eric Nicksick Predicts Sean Strickland Will Finish Paulo Costa In Round 4 Or 5, Says UFC Considered Booking 'Tarzan' Against Khamzat Chimaev

Sean Strickland’s coach Eric Nicksick is expecting “Tarzan” to finish Paulo Costa and talked about the potential match with Khamzat Chimaev.

Sean will get it done late in the fight

Speaking to Sportskeeda MMA, Nicksick shared his bold prediction on Strickland vs. Costa at UFC 302 . The way Nicksick sees it, the former middleweight champ will work his way to the latter rounds and get the job done.

“I think Sean can get him out there by round four or round five,” Nicksick predicted.

Khamzat was thrown in there

Nicksick also spoke about how the Costa fight came about. According to the coach, the UFC had various names thrown in there for Strickland, including Chimaev. Nicksick also revealed that Dricus du Plessis personally talked to him about a rematch .

“I know they [UFC] were hoping for maybe Khamzat, but I don’t think Sean can travel to Saudi Arabia or something; I’m not 100% sure. But I know Khamzat’s name was possibly kicked around. Khamzat is going to be a big draw in Saudi, and that fight is more about location than it was about the opponent, in my opinion. And I ran into Dricus man, I talked to Dricus. Dricus is a class act, man. I really enjoyed having a conversation with them, and we discussed the fight. They said that they were asking for a rematch for Sean, and they were trying to get the rematch,” Nicksick revealed.

Strickland lost his title to Du Plessis at UFC 297 and is hoping to get another crack at the middleweight strap with a win over Costa. On the other hand, “Borrachinha” is also coming off a lost to former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker and is eager to get back to the win column.

The pair will face at UFC 302 as co-main event to the lightweight title fight between Islam Makhachev and Dustin Poirier.
