Florida Georgia Line Announce 2021 Fall Tour

  • By Joseph Hudak

Joseph Hudak

After venturing off on respective solo projects, the members of Florida Georgia Line — Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley — are regrouping for a new tour. The I Love My Country Tour 2021 kicks off in late September in Atlanta and runs through November.

Named for a song off FGL’s latest album, Life Rolls On , the tour features Russell Dickerson, Lauren Alaina , and Redferrin as opening acts and hits 29 cities, including New Orleans, Washington, D.C., Chicago, and Los Angeles before wrapping up in Seattle on November 20th. Tickets go on sale June 4th at 10 a.m. local time. The tour is presented by Old Camp Whiskey, sponsored by T-Mobile, and produced by Live Nation.

Florida Georgia Line released Life Goes On in February. In April, Kelley put out his first solo effort , the six-track EP BK’s Wave Pack , featuring beach-country songs like “Beach Cowboy” and “Party on the Beach.” Hubbard joined Tim McGraw in January to release the collaborative single “Undivided.” The country singers performed their call for unity during the Celebrating America concert on Inauguration Day.

Last November, Hubbard and Kelley appeared on Storme Warren’s SiriusXM show to refute rumors that Florida Georgia Line were splitting up. “Somebody sent me an article two days ago that me and BK were breaking up,” Hubbard said to Warren. “And I thought, ‘Well, that’s news to me.'”

Florida Georgia Line are an American country music duo formed in Nashville, Tennessee in 2010. The individual members Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, hail from Ormond Beach, Florida, and Monroe, Georgia, respectively.

It’s certainly no surprise to note that Florida Georgia Line can trace their actual origins as a band to Nashville, Tennessee - it is, after all, pretty much the world capital of country music - but there’s two things that lend them something of a unique flavor; one is their youth, with both members still in their twenties, and the other is the fact that they both grew up in the south-east corner of the country - hence the name. Alongside the likes of Josh Thompson, Corey Smith and Gary Allan, amongst others, Hubbard and Kelley are helping to spearhead a new, fresh-faced movement in a genre of music often viewed as stuffy and the preserve of the older generation.

Their December 2012 debut record, “Here’s to the Good Times”, fizzed with the vigor of youth, especially on singles like “Cruise” and “Get Your Shine On”; if anything, that was perhaps the case to an unwelcome degree, given that they eschewed the possibility of bringing in an experienced country producer. Follow-up album Anything Goes, though - released in October 2014 - has helped to cement their reputation for doing things on their own terms, with Nickelback collaborator Joey Moi brought in on production duties on an album that topped the Billboard charts.

Live reviews

Florida Georgia Line was awesome and if I ever have the opportunity to see them again, I'm definitely going. They made their grand entrance on This Is How We Roll and things only get better from there. In addition to sounding good, they also had one of the best stage setups I've ever seen, from the pyrotechnics to the lighting and the things they showed on the big screen while they were performing. At one point, they even did Snippets of the Backstreet Boys' Rock Your Body and Montell Jordan's This Is How We Do It, along with House of Pain's Jump Around. From that and their songs, you can tell that they have a variety of musical influences, which is most likely why their music appeals to such a wide variety of people and this event was sold out. In fact, they set the record for the highest attendance for the year at the Hollywood Casino and it was packed, so packed that it took me 45 minutes to get from my car to my seat. But even with that, the crowd wasn't out of control or extremely rowdy, which was a miracle seeing how long it took most people to get in and how many people were in attendance. So yes, I will definitely see them again

I saw Florida Georgia line at a show they were putting on in my town. Like a lot of people, I’ve been a fan of theirs since I discovered the song Cruise. Once I heard that song, I got deeper in to their music and have become quite a fan of theirs.

When they took the stage the crowd went nuts and that set the tone for the rest of the show. They played for just over an hour and the vibe of the crowd was great from start to finish. They played their best known song for the crowd, which everyone loved but they also played some of their lesser known stuff which was nice. It opened my eyes to some of their other stuff. They performed This Is How We Roll, Dayum Baby, they also played a cover of Locked Out of Heaven by Bruno Mars. They did an amazing job with it to, I was surprised.

I was a casual fan of theirs before the concert, but since I have seen them live, my appreciation for their music has skyrocketed. I can’t wait for them to put on another show close to me, I will definitely be going.

I will start of by saying, that Florida Georgia Line have outgrown the role as an "opening act". It's time for them to become headliners. People in the music industry often talk about "paying your dues", well in my opinion, these 2 men have. This was my 3rd time seeing them live, and to watch the grow and own the show is nothing short of amazing. The electricity they bring to the stage is off the hook, the wild dancing, jumping insane heights, I'm sure it's safe to say everybody in the audience felt every jolt. Their music's lyrics hits a special note that anybody can relate too. At one point during the show Tyler, admittedly said the crowd was so loud, he forgot the words to the song, it's amazing how few simple words made the place erupt in cheer again. Special moments of thanking the fans for making FGL who they are today was a nice closing touch to the show. I look forward to seeing them again and again... And again.

This was my first country music event and I have to say, FGL did not disappoint. They built up anticipation nicely and they had boundless energy on stage which, in my opinion, would be tough to do after so many venues/concerts and being on the road 9 months out of the year. They really involved the crowd with their lyrics and they ramped up their show just by the amount of energy they had. They also had great synergy on stage; they may sing, or they may play guitar, or hey - they might do both. If you love their songs but don't know them by heart, no worries. They've got you covered. They utilize a very impressive 'song video' that has all the lyrics showing up on the big screen in a very creative way. But don't make the same mistake I did: you'll want to be in the general audience/mosh pit when these guys come around. I had regular sit- down seats and I felt like I missed out on a bigger experience.

This band is the most feel good, fun loving, happy, down home, just loving life group we have ever been to. Everyone needs to experience the joy they bring to our world!!! You can't leave them feeling sad or down because they pick you up and make everything cool. The southern rock, rap, country feel good mix is perfect for any night!! They also make you feel like a friend. When you love what you do and send it out to everyone around its a gift. We go to concerts to play and revive after a tough world of work and stress. Florida Georgia Line should be on the top of the list for that. LOVE THEM❤❤❤

Well I love FGL. The disappointment was not hearing them sing. It was good just not what we expected. The advertisement for the show on Songkick listed them in the lineup. However, once we purchased tickets through Eventbrite, FGL was only listed as host. I felt a bit deceived. Show did NOT start at 6 and was over before 8. We did enjoy the other artists and FGL came out and sang with Morgan Wallen at the end of the show.

Florida Georgia Line Tour Dates

Florida Georgia Line Tour Dates Cruising To Town Near You!

When they first came on the scene, Florida Georgia Line was little more than a distracting sound in an otherwise calm ambiance of country music. But the harder they worked for their small crowds, the bigger those crowds got until Florida Georgia Line tour dates became one of the hottest commodities in country music. Songs like “Cruise” (feat. Nelly), “Get Your Shine On”, and “This Is How We Roll” all build up to one hell of a summer soundtrack. Don’t forget all their classic #1s as well as some plain ole fan favorites. Tunes we all love to sing along and share with friends and family.

Fully embracing their bro-country-meets-hick-hop sound, FGL has built a strong following of younger country music fans that snatch up Florida Georgia Line tour tickets the moment they hit the box office. But don’t let the party atmosphere fool you. Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard, the dynamic FGL duo, have a soft side too. Right, when you think the party couldn’t get any hotter, this two simmer down into ballads that make the ladies hearts melt! Tracks like “Stay” (originally written and performed by Memphis’s own Black Stone Cherry) catapulted these guys to the top of the charts and the center of fans hearts. Of course, that’s why Florida Georgia Line tour tickets go so fast. Their live shows are a complete experience from start to finish.

As Florida Georgia Line tour dates add up they keep knocking them down without ever showing a sign of stopping. Heavy hitting country hits, lights, and the crowd roaring. Nothing but high energy from this duo and their incredible band. Don’t forget to see them when they stop by your town it’s an experience you don’t want to miss!

Florida Georgia Line Explain Why They Can't Bro/Won't Bro Like They Used to Bro

State lines make good neighbors. At least that's what the bros of bro-country's biggest band, Florida Georgia Line, have learned since they broke up two years ago. On two episodes of the Bussin' with the Boys podcast, each bro gave broadly conflicting reasons about why they can't bro and won't bro like they used to. The bros, Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, can't even agree upon which bro broached a breakup first.

Hubbard's version is that his bro broadsided him. "For me, it was really unexpected," he said (via People ). "But BK came to me and said, ‘Man, I'm really feeling like I want to do a solo thing. And I'm like, ‘Really?' We were just getting out of our first deal. We were kind of in a sweet spot that we had worked for 10 years to get to."

He pleaded with his bro to put another 10 years into their groundbreaking fusion of country, pop, rock, and hip-hop, but ultimately he resigned that 'twas better to have bro'd and lost than never to have bro'd at all. "He was adamant, like, ‘Nah, now's my time. I really need to do this for myself,'" Hubbard said. "And I'm like, ‘Well, hey, whatever you need to do, bro.' Like, ‘What do you want from me?' He's like, ‘I just want support.' So I'm like, OK you got it.'"

Even though Hubbard offered to do a reunion tour at one point, the duo's rapprochement (sorry, rabrochement ) was short lived. "BK had this thing where he wanted to still do Florida Georgia Line, but he wanted to do the solo thing, too," Hubbard said, "and I had to tell him … I can't do both." So he issued his bro an ultimatum, asking him to choose whether to bro or not to bro, slings and arrows of outrageous fortune be damned.

Kelley contradicted his former bro's version of events on his episode. The split wasn't "really a beef," he said, since he'd been talking about going solo "for a long time." "I had an idea that once the deal was up, Tyler would get a solo deal under the same label, I would get a record deal and we would renegotiate a new record deal," he said. Plus, he had a vision of he and Hubbard touring together, performing their solo music and reuniting every night for Florida Georgia Line songs in a three-hour spectacle of brotherly love.

"It wasn't just that I had to have a solo career - I would word it as ‘I want a solo outlet, as a creative, as a songwriter,'" Kelley said. "I wanted to reshape that part of the story. It gets sticky about what things go where? I think it's easy to figure out. It's not an emotional thing for me when we're talking about business and creativity."

The bromance ended officially, though, when Kelley saw Hubbard with a new bro, Tim McGraw, singing a duet, "Undivided," at President Biden's inauguration. Kelley was "surprised [and] shocked." "I didn't think that was a good look, if I'd have done it or if he had done it," he said, the perfidy clearly still smarting. (Hubbard and his wife allegedly unfollowed Kelley on social media after the election, too).

Still, the bros mustered the strength for a final Florida Georgia Line bro-down in 2022. Hubbard released his sophomore solo outing, Strong , last month, and Kelley's, Tennessee Truth , came out Friday. It notably contains a song called "Kiss My Boots," which is not the tender expression of love it appears, since some have interpreted it as a dig at Hubbard.

The real Tennessee truth arrived earlier this month, though, when the bros officially closed their Nashville bar , FGL House. It's over, brover.

Life After Florida Georgia Line: Brian Kelley Ready to Reintroduce Himself With New Solo Album

Best known as one-half of the country super-duo Florida Georgia Line, Brian Kelley will release a solo album, “Tennessee Truth," on Friday

George Walker IV

NEW YORK (AP) — Allow Brian Kelley to reintroduce himself.

Best known as one-half of the country super-duo Florida Georgia Line , Kelley will release a solo album, “ Tennessee Truth," on Friday. It is a collection of 12 anthemic country songs ripe for a road trip and tailgate in equal measure.

For “Tennessee Truth,” produced by Dann Huff, Kelley says he aimed to “dive into the music I grew up on — obviously the music I love and themes of just country living, rural living, hard work, good times, outdoors, love,” he told The Associated Press from his home in Nashville.

Good songwriting, Kelley says, is a lot like fishing — you need patience. “I wrote probably over 100 songs for this record."

Eight of the 12 songs on the album were written by Kelley, and he worked with whomever he could on others, trying to get outside his comfort zone. “Every song gets you to the next song," he says.

“I think it's a fun record,” he says, adding that the creative process was dependent on these tracks translating live.

Geography still plays a prominent role in the music Kelley makes. Throughout “Tennessee Truth” are beaches in Florida, farms in Nashville, his wife's family farm in Georgia. Hunting, sitting on the porch drinking sweet tea and eating peanuts, conversations with loved ones — that's the kind of life he hopes comes across on the album. “Just being free,” he says.

Fans looking for more coastal country from Kelley — like what was found on his pandemic album, “Sunshine State of Mind,” released in 2020 — will want to skip over to “10 O'Clock On The Dock.”

“It was a passion project,” he says of “Sunshine State of Mind.” “It was supposed to just be its own little thing.”

Kelley says he also made that record with the thought that he would record solo and with Florida Georgia Line. “I made it with a sonic respect to what we were , what we had done and what we had built. So, I didn’t want to tread on anything even close to that, out of respect, you know?”

He says he considers “Tennessee Truth” his true solo debut.

In 2022, Florida Georgia Line embarked on an indefinite hiatus. At that point, the duo of Kelley and Tyler Hubbard had been together more than a decade, and whether you were a fan of their bro country sound or not, their music ( “Cruise,” “Meant to Be,” “Round Here”) set the tone for a generation of country fans . The following year, Hubbard released a self-titled debut solo record.

“I’m thankful that (Brian) had the courage to step into this new space and to make that decision that ultimately kind of pushed me to make the same decision and lead me to where I’m at now,” Hubbard told AP at the time. “I had quite a few people tell me that it couldn’t be done and that I should definitely continue with FGL, and it sort of lit a spark in me, a fire.”

The closing song on “Tennessee Truth" is the feisty “Kiss My Boots," which features Kelley delivering vinegary lyrics like: “Want the world to know that you did me wrong / I don’t know how you act sweet, after how you did me / Here’s a middle finger to you through a song.” Some fans theorize it is a direct message to Hubbard.

“I've read some of that, too,” Kelley says, adding that he understands people might make associations in order to find meaning in the song.

“But at the end of the day,” he says, the song means a lot of different things for his collaborators, “And it really means a lot of different things for me.

“I really put that song out because I wanted people to know that I’m a real human, and I’m not just some face on social media or some somebody that’s had some success," he adds. "You know, I’ve been through hard times in my life.”

But could there be a reunion on the horizon?

“The old saying is, ‘Tell God your plans and he’ll laugh,'” he says. “So, I have no idea. I really don't know what the future holds. I know that I’m really focused on what I’m doing now, and I’m really proud of ... the work that I put in.”

This story has been updated to correct the spelling of Dann Huff’s first name and the song title of “10 O’Clock On The Dock.”

Brian Kelley leaves Florida Georgia Line behind, finds 'Tennessee Truth' with new album

The former florida georgia line member's second solo album, "tennessee truth," arrives on friday, may 10..

florida georgia line tour tickets

While seated upstairs at Lucchese Boots' brand outpost in Nashville's Gulch neighborhood, former Florida Georgia Line member Brian Kelley appears more refreshed than he has in a half-decade.

His sophomore solo album, "Tennessee Truth," arrives on Friday and hearkens his arrival as a confident, standalone country artist.

"It was fun to be part of a pioneering and trailblazing duo," he tells The Tennessean. "But now I'm having fun learning how to become the captain of my own ship."

Kelley's decade paired with Tyler Hubbard as Florida Georgia Line as an artist almost doesn't equate with who Kelley is also as a man.

Kelley had more in common 18 years ago with Hall of Fame baseball pitcher Sandy Koufax than Hall of Fame country music artist Alan Jackson. Kelley spent time as an aspiring major league player at Daytona State College and Florida State University before heading to Nashville's Belmont University in 2007.

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

Life beyond Florida Georgia Line's success

After a decade-plus together, Kelley believed he and Hubbard could still be a tandem, but also branch off as solo acts, potentially able to equal the 50 million singles they sold together via Florida Georgia Line hits like 2012's Nelly collaboration "Cruise" and 2017's Bebe Rexha pairing "Meant to Be."

In Kelley's mind, he and Hubbard could create a three-hour live concert event with no opening act and only one set list comprised of their solo work interspersed with Florida Georgia Line's mega hits. The concept never reached fruition.

A deep look back: Florida Georgia Line among first country acts to open a Nashville bar; FGL House closing recalls how we got here

The bittersweet silver lining is that Kelley is now pushed by a goal far more significant than resting on his 2010s work and sharing the load with his former duo-mate.

He has reached the "apples versus oranges" moment of his career, when everything — from his appearance and style of dress to the types of songs he was interested in making — had to evolve.

"Brian Kelley doesn't have 19 No. 1 hits at country radio, and I've found the good in that," he says. "Allowing people to discover the truth of who I am is a critical moment to embrace pride in the freedom of the steps I've taken."

'Tennessee Truth'

"Tennessee Truth" is comprised of songs more closely tied to how he's redoubled his efforts to be a crooner of rural anthems more linked to Alan Jackson, who comes from 45 minutes outside of Atlanta, than anything familiar with Kelley's former hits that often felt snatched from the catalog of Atlanta's 1990s and 2000s era of hip-hop and R&B's crossover potential.

Songs like "Dirt Road Date Night" and "Trucks, Ducks, Bucks & Beer" don't feature trap beats and stadium-ready choruses as much as they reflect quiet moments when Kelley is locked into discovering what he can mine from his developing singer-songwriter artistry.

The pop-ready songs that emerge are aided by Dann Huff's production, accurately reflecting Kelley as a husband and outdoorsman at heart, whose parents have been married for 50 years and who finds himself lucky to be able to salvage and re-balance his roots against the impact of life-changing superstardom.

He speaks with great respect about his 81-year-old father, Ed, and growing up eating boiled peanuts and fresh fruit purchased at roadside stands while spending time perusing flea markets near the lakes, nature reserves and rivers that surround the stretch of Florida between Daytona Beach and his hometown of Ormond Beach.

Kelley's father set a "working class" example for him, selling everything from newspapers to tanning oil, plus serving on the Ormond Beach City Commission and working as the Volusia County chairman for two decades .

"Yeah, I might seem like the guy who loves eating sushi at Nobu or buying boots at Lucchese, but I'm also the guy who goes to the bait and tackle shop or the country general store," he says. "My wild Friday nights could be onstage at Bridgestone Arena or watching '20/20' with my wife and dogs on my couch after cooking a meal at home."

'Kiss My Boots'

The moment that focuses most directly on when Kelley was struck by how far removed he was from where he started two decades ago arrived — in the wake of "Meant To Be" and its 50 weeks on top of country's sales charts and a 34-date 2019 amphitheater tour — when he found himself, in early March 2020 , at Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's nursery in Nairobi, Kenya.

Hubbard and wife Hayley had asked Kelley and his wife, Brittney, to join them there for a gender-reveal event for their second child.

"That was a magical trip, but the second we landed back in America, for the next six months, my wife and I were quarantined on a farm in west Nashville or staying in a tiny carriage house near our (then being renovated) house in Florida," he says. "I was happy I didn't have COVID-19, as my father would say, 'playing the glad game,' and keeping myself from going crazy and (succumbing to) fearmongering by building rock walls, cooking every meal outside on a tiny grill, fishing, hunting and praying."

It began a long reckoning that eventually ended, as many Nashville-based mainstream country music stories do, in a songwriting room.

Album closer "Kiss My Boots" is best regarded in the wake of contemplating the wear and tear of what evolved into a five-year split from Hubbard, filled with starts, stops and both artists remaining tethered to one of pop music and culture's most notable recent musical histories. This, while feverishly attempting to rediscover who they were two decades ago, plus also thinking about remaining artistically competitive and relevant against the genre's modern-era boom.

Much like his and Hubbard's trip to Africa, Kelley describes writing "Kiss My Boots" as a "magical" experience during which his feelings about the past half-decade finally coalesced.

"Comes out in the whiskey, comes out when I'm tipsy / I can't help but tell that Tennessee truth / I'm crankin' Hank, drinkin' Jack / I'm crankin' Hank, drinkin' Jack / And you can kiss my boots," sings Kelley.

For over 3,000 years, the notion of using wine to find the truth has resisted change to remain perpetually factual.

"It's an emotional middle finger to you through a song that grew from being about one thing to being about everything," he says. "It's the most I've ever felt in control of a song's creative direction. Being connected to that feeling inspired bravery, empowerment and healing that didn't just impact me but impacts anyone who feels betrayed or gets pissed off — but knows that taking the high road is (the most admirable path to take)."

Growing past life's 'curveballs'

"Even though I've made some money and had some success, I'm a real human being who has been through some things and thinks and feels just like anyone else," Kelley says.

"I had to re-learn how to show up and patiently wait for my realness to emerge from the lyrics and the melodies perfectly. Once that happened, the same kid whose father is from the Nashville area and who once came to Opryland with his family and sang '"'Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)' blended with me rediscovering the person who is no different from anyone who listens to this record."

Kelley closes, as expected, with a baseball metaphor.

"Whenever life throws you a curveball, stepping up to the plate and getting a hit requires trusting your talent more than anything else," he says. "Nothing great doesn't happen without a little bit of hard work."
