This is the type of service this company provides. Please let me tell you that this company was provided several weeks notice for cancelation of a bachelor party and they did chose not to save a customer going forward. I explained my situation to one of the owners and asked to make an exception on refunding deposit. They were rude when working with and short on the phone. They couldn't give a quote immediately and needed to call back at a later time to give quote. I charged back deposit cost because one of the owners refused to work with me on this and was short when canceled. this is how they handle customers. See what was emailed below by one of the owners. "You're a very very petty person. I never met no one who cried over $100. can you read did you read the contract it says biggest days no refunds I gave you a break on the deposit deposit was supposed to be $200. It was better I didn't do the trip you might cry about paying that too. You don't have to refer me to no one I don't want a customer like you".

Nothing but good things to say: they arrived on time, drove anywhere we requested in the city while we were taking pictures on our wedding day and let us play music and bring beverages onto the bus during the ride. The driver was also very courteous.

Keep your eyes peeled while you’re seated up top soaking up the sun in Kansas City and you’ll probably see the cheerful red Kansas City Double Decker Tours bus roll by. Kansas City’s distillery scene thrived until the ravages of Prohibition. Now? It’s experiencing a delicious comeback. Tom’s Town Distilling Co . , Downtown Kansas City’s first legal distillery since Prohibition, offers one-hour tours that include an in-depth look at the distillation process and history of the company’s namesake: Boss Tom Pendergast.

J. Rieger & Company , founded in 1887 in the West Bottoms, was a casualty of Prohibition—but the iconic whiskey brand lives again, thanks to co-founders Ryan Maybee and Andy Rieger. Now, the spirits flow from a distillery in the East Bottoms, which offers tours on select Saturdays. Plan to spend around two hours in the distillery learning about the history and legacy of J. Take a cruise on these leaf-peeping byways and highways near Kansas City.

Now that we’ve had our first official taste of fall in Kansas City, we're ready to indulge in all our favorite aspects of autumn.

As the trees begin to change from green to vibrant reds, browns, yellows and oranges, it’s the perfect time to find a scenic byway and take a drive. Whether you’re Sunday cruisin’ or taking a drive on a random Tuesday, getting out in nature and watching something other than a screen will do you some good.

Cliff Drive

Okay, so, this first one is not necessarily a drive. Not anymore, anyway. Cliff Drive has been closed to motor vehicles for quite a while, but this list would feel incomplete without it. Located in George E. Kessler Park in historic Northeast Kansas City, Cliff Drive is a beloved National Scenic Byway — the only one in Kansas City, Missouri.

The road is roughly four miles long, and is nestled beneath steep rocky bluffs and lush trees. Although driving a car down Cliff Drive is currently prohibited, it’s a great place for biking or walking (especially if you have small children and need to bring a stroller — with the exception of bikes, you’ll have the street to yourself!).

Be sure to stroll over to Lookout Point on 192 N. Garfield Drive for a view of the Missouri River and Northeast Industrial District. Or try and hunt down the largest tree in Missouri , which is located in Kessler Park.

Also, if you’re a fan of holiday lights, mark your calendar for Nov. 3 as Kansas City Parks and Rec is preparing to open up a one-mile stretch of Cliff Drive to drivers for a little bit of Winter Magic .

Flint Hills National Scenic Byway

Flint Hills National Scenic Byway on Kansas Highway 177 stretches from Council Grove, Kansas to Cassoday, Kansas. It’s about two hours from Kansas City, and more than 47 miles of sprawling prairie grass, rolling hills and jagged limestone bluffs. In the fall, the grass turns to a warm, golden brown color.

According to the National Parks Service , tallgrass prairies are one of the rarest, most endangered ecosystems in the world, encompassing only 4% of their original area. Flint Hills in Kansas is the largest original tall grass prairie that remains unplowed.

Weston Bend State Park

Though Weston Bend State Park doesn't have any scenic byways, the park itself makes for a gorgeous autumn drive. There are plenty of places to stop for a picnic or go on a paved or unpaved hike and stretch your legs. It’s about 40 minutes from Kansas City, so it makes for a perfect day trip.

The hilly, winding road that leads through Weston Bend offers beautiful forest views, as do the roadways surrounding the park. Then, once you get to the top, you'll find a scenic overlook with views of the Missouri River.

The city of Weston is an ideal autumn destination, too. Quaint and picturesque, you can spend an entire weekend exploring Green Dirt Farm , Weston Orchard and Vineyard , Weston Brewing Company and Pirtle Winery .

Glacial Hills Scenic Byway

Glacial Hills Scenic Byway  runs North to South (or vice versa, depending on where you begin) and is 63 miles long. For people leaving from Kansas City, the byway begins approximately 45 minutes away in Leavenworth, Kansas, at the intersection of K-7 and K-92. Glacial Hills Scenic Byway ends in White Cloud, Kansas.

The byway has sweeping hills and rocky valleys that were carved by ancient glaciers — hence the name, Glacial Hills.

There are lots of historical stops along the way, such as the  Amelia Earhart Birthplace Museum  in Atchison. The Glacial Hills region is home to one of the  most famous Pony Express routes  and contains multiple markers, including the  Lewis and Clark Riverfront Pavilion  in Atchinson, where  Lewis and Clark’s Corps of Discovery made stops .

If you make it all the way to the end and arrive in White Cloud, you’ll want to be sure and stop at the  Four State Lookout  where you can get a bird's-eye look at the Missouri River Valley. It’s one of the  8 Wonders of Kansas , and on a clear day, you’ll be able to see portions of Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Iowa all at once!

Glade Top Trail National Forest Scenic Byway

Looking for a vast, panoramic view of fall foliage? Glade Top Trail has you covered. The 23-mile scenic byway is located in Mark Twain National Forest — Missouri’s only national forest.

Glade Top Trail is a two-lane gravel road that has seven stops (where vehicles can pull over) offering a wide variety of viewing options. Not only is the area known for its stunning, brightly colored fall leaves, it's also known for its vast, sweeping glades — open spaces in the forest — which is where the byway gets its name. In Missouri, glade habitats are home to more than 500 different species of native plants, such as the silky aster , a purple wildflower pollinators love.

This byway is roughly four hours from Kansas City, so you’ll want to plan for either a long day trip or an overnight stay. But not to worry — from cabins, to tent or RV campgrounds, Mark Twain National Forest has plenty of camping options .

The camping area for Glade Top Trail is located between stops six and seven . It is dispersed camping , which means campers are pretty much roughing it in tents away from other campers. There is no running water, restrooms, fire pits, or picnic tables so be sure to review rules and prepare accordingly if you plan to camp here.

Taylor Swift draws five times as many US luxury travellers as the Olympics

PARIS – Paris authorities have spent years readying for the almost two million international visitors expected for the 2024 Summer Olympics, but they may have overlooked a far bigger phenomenon now coming to the city: Taylor Swift.

The billionaire superstar is playing four shows at La Defense Arena, just outside the capital, kicking off the European leg of The Eras Tour on May 9.

With a total seating capacity of 40,000 a show, the music event is a small fraction of the size of the Olympic Games. And yet the concerts are drawing five times as many Americans as the Paris Olympics, according to figures from New York-based luxury travel agency Embark Beyond.

For both events, trips would normally be booked many months in advance.

“I never would have anticipated it,” says Embark co-founder Jack Ezon. “Look at what Taylor did to the Super Bowl. She’s even overshadowing the Olympics.”

By that, of course, Mr Ezon is referring to Swift’s ability to broaden football viewership simply by supporting her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, at several games.

According to former Paramount Global chief executive Bob Bakish, her attendance was considered one of the factors that made 2024’s Super Bowl the most-watched broadcast in US history. 

Now, Swift fever is reaching Europe, where many cities – including Paris – maintain limitations on ticket resales, preventing prices from reaching the five-digit sums that some consumers have paid in US markets. 

Mr Ezon says among the more than 200 Paris trips his company has planned for Swifties, the average length is three nights, with clients usually staying at luxury hotels like the Plaza Athenee, Hotel de Crillon and Le Bristol.

Around a third of the groups are mother-daughter pairs who want to schedule shopping sprees around the concerts. Some 20 per cent of clients are also planning larger European trips to follow the shows, adding destinations such as London or the south of France.

The appetite for the blockbuster tour comes amid lower-than-expected demand for the Olympic Games, with many high-end vacation rentals slashing prices for the summer as owners come to terms with the overblown hype.

Hotel prices, similarly, have dipped more than 30 per cent in the past six months, according to data from travel insights company Lighthouse.

Olympics bookings could still pick up as the July 26 opening ceremony approaches, especially given the recent price drops. The pace of inquiries and bookings has increased 8 per cent following a 14 per cent decline in April, Mr Ezon notes.

Meanwhile, Swifties in Paris are especially excited to hear songs off her new album, The Tortured Poets Department, being performed for the first time.

Many critics have derided the 31-track album as bloated and mediocre – “a rare misstep”, in the words of British music magazine NME.

Such blasphemy leaves her devoted fan base seeing red – Paste magazine felt the need to keep its damning review anonymous, knowing all too well how her fans would react.

But a few bad reviews are unlikely to lead to a cruel summer for Swift – the album sold 1.4 million copies on its first day of release on April 19, and broke every streaming record going, reaching a billion streams on Spotify within five days.

Some 42,000 people will see Swift in Paris before she heads on for dates in Sweden, Portugal, Spain, Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Poland and Austria.

As for the Taylor effect in Paris – it should come as no surprise.

The 34-year-old’s tour remains a money-making machine beyond the wildest dreams of promoters and venues.

The La Defense Arena says it has doubled the previous record of merchandise sellers across its dates.

The mere mention of a London pub, The Black Dog, on her new album was enough to send a swarm of Swifties to its doors, potentially saving the struggling boozer.

Fans tracked it down after realising it lay close to the home of British actor Joe Alwyn, with whom Swift had a six-year relationship that ended in April 2023.

Soukeyna, a 16-year-old fan travelling up from south-west France for opening night, says Swift gives her “the feeling of being part of a community”.

“She’s a complete artist who writes her own words, and you really have to listen to the lyrics and understand them, which is something unique,” she adds.

Swift’s tour has given a boost to many economies, including Australia’s and Singapore’s.

In 2023, the first round of her US concerts contributed US$4.3 billion (S$5.8 billion) to the country’s gross domestic product, according to estimates from Bloomberg Economics. BLOOMBERG, AFP
