Rock City World Tour Camp

Our music camps for kids let young campers explore their musical talents! Filled with fun, creativity, and group activities, Rock City World Tour Camp is a great way to introduce children to music.

In Rock City, kids learn about core musical concepts, like loud and soft, fast and slow, and high and low notes. Each concept is linked to a children’s story and instrument. This way, campers can learn these concepts and discover different types of instruments through the power of story!

Rock City storytime also includes fun, movement-based activities. This allows campers to express themselves through music and dance.

Our kids music camps expose campers to a wide range of instruments. Over the course of Rock City, kids are introduced to instruments like the hand-drum, recorder, and keyboard. At the same time, campers learn fundamental skills that prepare them for future music lessons.

Bach to Rock ® music camps for kids also tap into a number of key early childhood skills. Through Rock City, young campers can build skills like counting, pattern recognition, hand-eye coordination, social skills, and auditory awareness. Plus, kids can have fun, make friends, and unlock their inner musician!

Become a Better Musician

Individual mentoring combined with several hours a day of group instruction helps students fine-tune their playing ability. Our unique Caz curriculum produces exceptional results for students year in and year out.

Musicians participate in Orchestra, Concert Band or Jazz Ensemble. Led by a new guest conductor each week, campers rehearse twice, two to three times a day for 60-90 minutes preparing for their final performance. While some initially doubt they’ll be able to master the repertoire, students discover they are capable of rising to the challenge!

How Impressive Are Summer Programs in College Admissions?

The freedom of summer presents an opportunity for growth outside the high school classroom. Colleges want to see that you make use of it. Extracurricular activities are a particularly important way to demonstrate your passions to college admissions officers.

Admissions committees are looking to learn how your summer activities are both impressive and unique. Extracurricular activities are broken down into four tiers based on these two criteria, with Tier 1 representing the most impressive and unique activities and Tier 4 representing those that are quite common. Ideally, you should include at least one Tier 1 activity, a core of Tier 2 and 3 activities, and as few Tier 4s as possible.

Summer programs most commonly fall into Tier 3 or 4, though several, such as NYO-USA , can clearly be differentiated as in Tier 1 or 2. These programs are more selective, and a defining characteristic of the best ones is that they provide high-quality programming for free.

Curious how a summer program or extracurricular activity will impact your chances of admission? CollegeVine’s free admissions calculator can calculate your odds of acceptance using your academic profile, and it can also share areas in which you can improve. In addition to sharing your chances of acceptance at certain schools and universities, our free chancing engine will also share a list of schools that match your needs and profile.

Though summer break provides you with the most time to explore your passions, it is not the only time. Colleges want to see that you are curious about the world around you at heart and are constantly seeking new learning opportunities.

Instead of participating in a program, you could create your own. Writing a book or mobilizing a team to solve an issue in your local community are examples of independent efforts that look impressive to colleges.

You can show further initiative by taking on internships and paying jobs. Both demonstrate initiative, a career direction, and key life skills such as time management and responsibility. Since most internships are reserved for college students and graduates, it can be a challenge to find opportunities for high school students. To help with the search, visit CollegeVine’s internship blog page to view internships in your city, state, or area of interest!

Summer Music Camp? 8 Reasons Why Your Child Should Attend

Summer Music Camp? 8 Reasons Why Your Child Should Attend

The Middle School Concert Band Camp at the Music for All Summer Symposium has been designed from the ground up with the middle school student in mind. The camp combines superior teaching, outstanding experiences, and a safe, welcoming environment for young people. But, why is a summer music camp the right thing for your child this summer? There are many excellent reasons to encourage your child to attend a summer music camp; here are some of the benefits to consider:

(1) Continue Development of Performance Skills Students spend the school year learning new skills and refining them for performance. A summer music camp will help stave off the backward slide performance skills can take during the summer. They are a great way to bridge the gap in learning (and retaining) skills and concepts over the long summer months.

(2) Expand View of Participation in Music As their daily lives become routine, it is easy for kids to remain unaware of the scope of participation in music performance at their age level. Sure, they may attend a festival or competition, but those experiences will likely have limited interaction with peers from other schools. A summer music camp truly allows the students to get to know their music peers – often from distant schools – to help broaden their view of participation in music.

(3) Foster Independence and Self-Reliance Especially for students traveling away from home to stay at the summer music camp, this will be a chance for them to build their self-confidence as individuals and as performers. The camp can provide a safe environment for a student to tackle new personal and musical challenges.

(4) Inspire New Learning through Novel Experiences New or novel experiences can be powerful influences on imprinting memories in our brains. The best summer music camps are places to meet new friends, perform new music, and provide new inspiration to encourage continued study. The wonderful memories and friendships forged at a summer music camp can last a lifetime, and provide a springboard for further development as individuals and musicians.

(5) Build Confidence through Successful, Meaningful Music Creation Often, summer music camps ask students to perform a placement audition to form groups based on ability. Placing kids in like-ability ensembles creates a safe environment for taking risks and tackling new challenges.

(6) Deepen Knowledge Related to Chosen Instrument Many performance-based summer camps will include masterclasses presented by experts for a given instrument. Summer music camps present a wonderful venue for in-depth focus on an instrument and the skill development necessary to advance as a performer.

(7) Explore New Avenues for Performance/Participation Getting ready to start marching band in high school? Want to dive into jazz improvisation? Intrigued by small chamber ensemble experiences? Summer music camps offer a diversity of opportunities to explore new avenues of performance.

(8) Develop and Strengthen Friendships Rooted in Music-Making Many students (and adults) are drawn to music-making, in part, for the socialization aspect. The summer music camp can strengthen existing friendships, and open the doors for new ones.

The summer break is a great time for fun-filled adventures. The Middle School Concert Band Camp at the Music for All Summer Symposium offers an exciting, inspiring week within a safe, welcoming environment. Young band kids will grow as musicians and as individuals through this positively life-changing experience!

Camp Electric brings together Christian musicians and teaches them band dynamics, the art of leading worship, and performance skills that are truly invaluable. But that’s just the beginning, they are able to do all of this while interacting with and learning from their favorite Christian artists.

It has been proven over and over again that we learn best when we ACT on what we have been taught, not just hear ABOUT it.

(INTERACTION is the key) At Camp Electric that’s the exact opportunity that you will be given, there are a lot of seminars out there; however Camp Electric saw a need for something different. For starters, there are no boring workshops. Everybody leaves challenged and excited to pursue the dreams that God has given them. Everything we do is designed to help spiritual growth and musical development.

Rock 101 camp | 4 Your Kids: Project Summer

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Learning to play an instrument is no easy feat but officials at Rock 101 say they can help metro kids and teens hit the right notes.

Rock 101 is a year-round music academy. Every year, for about the last 15 years, they’ve hosted summer camps that allow kids and teens, ages 3-18, to learn new skills and meet new people.

Like the Santa Fe art camp we told you about , the requirements are slim. You just have to love music to come to Rock 101.

“Our mission is to empower Albuquerque through music. Music, we know, is so magical. It has so many properties that just connect people and bring people together,” said Kevin Herig, the founder of Rock 101.

Many would agree that music is a universal language that anyone can enjoy. Herig says it’s also something anyone can learn.

“A lot of people say, ‘I’m too old to learn a new skill,’ but we have these adults coming in learning something new. It’s something that they always wanted to do and opens so many more doors,” he said.

The summer session is a weeklong and they meet musicians where they’re at with their skill level.

“We have different age groups but they come in and over the course of one week they find themselves in a band, come up with a band name, they have band practice. They work on practicing a song,” Herig said.

Before that, of course, they have to pick an instrument. It’s one they either want to learn or get better at.

With the help of instructors and mentors, they’re able to sharpen their skills, just in time for a big performance at the end of the week.

While it is just a music camp, students learn more than just harmonizing.

“It’s summer camp at the end of the day, so we try to have a lot of fun. We’re goofy. We do a lot of skits, games and activities,” Herig said. “Throughout the week, we will have guest band performances come in. Hands-on workshops give the kids a lot of opportunities to touch and mess around with a bunch of instruments.”

The first session starts June 3. The last one starts June 22.

tour music camp

Greenville and the surrounding area are set to have a sizzling summer music scene as a host of international and local country, rock and R&B artists will arrive in the Upstate between May and September.

Over the last year, Fantasia , Jellyroll , Thomas Rhett and more notable acts have contributed to Greenville's popularly growing music scene. As we await the upcoming 2025 Trueline entertainment venue and Peace Center's A Music Project to arrive by the end of the decade, there are still a ton of great top performers to see throughout the Upstate.

As the weather heats up and the Greenville-area social events begin to sprout, here are 10 of our favorite shows to see this summer throughout the area:

Collective Soul Double Album 'Here To Eternity' Out Now; Will Tour This Summer

Later this summer, the band will hit the road with Hootie & the Blowfish along with Edwin McCain for the “Summer Camp with Trucks Tour."

pixeltracker

For fans it’s felt like an eternity since COLLECTIVE SOUL released new music, even though it’s only been two years since their last album, VIBRATING, was released. Now, they can rejoice in the highly anticipated and critically acclaimed 12th studio album, HERE TO ETERNITY, which is out now on their label, Fuzze-Flex Records distributed physically by AMPED Distribution and digitally by Virgin Music Group.

It includes 20 brand new songs which is available everywhere on  digital stores and streaming partners  (including a Dolby ATMOS version), as a single disc CD, and as a limited-edition double-disc colored vinyl.

The band will be celebrating their 30th anniversary (since they first exploded on the music scene in 1994 with their multi-Platinum HINTS ALLEGATIONS AND THINGS LEFT UNSAID album) all year, which started with the April 10 debut of the album’s first song and lyric video, “Mother’s Love” (which features a very special guest appearance from Paul McCartney guitarist Brian Ray on slide guitar), on their official YouTube  here . The official music video--directed by Adam Blank and featuring an appearance by Ed and Dean Roland’s mother, Nette Roland--can be seen now on the band’s official YouTube  here .

Alongside Ray, other guests on the album include longtime Sheryl Crow bandleader Peter Stroud and Mickey Thomas of Jefferson Starship. HERE TO ETERNITY was written and produced by E. Roland and co-produced by Shawn Grove, and recorded at Elvis Presley’s estate in Palm Springs, CA. They’re the only other music artist to ever record at the historical landmark.

“I happened to be walkin’ down the street and I had met Brian Ray a couple of times,” Ed Roland said. “I saw him and was like, ‘Brian, hey man. Why don’t you come over and break bread? We’re up at Elvis’ house.’” The invite for a bite of grub turned into a session, of course. With a laugh, Ed Roland added, “I’m gettin’ pretty sneaky in my old age.”

The rave reviews are already starting to pour in. During a live chat with Steve Harkins at  TalkshopLive  (where autographed copies of the album are currently available), he called the album “a masterpiece.” While Consequence.net described “Mother’s Love” as, “Centered around a thick blues guitar lick, the song also sports the band’s signature pop hooks and big harmonies — an apt choice for a first single, as it provides a complete cross-section of COLLECTIVE SOUL’s long-established style.”

While StaticNoiseMag chimed in, “HERE TO ETERNITY isn’t just an album; it’s a testament to the power of love, resilience, and the human spirit. Through their masterful storytelling and heartfelt performances, COLLECTIVE SOUL invites listeners on a journey of self-discovery and reflection, reminding us that even in our darkest moments, we are never truly alone. If you’re facing tough times, HERE TO ETERNITY will spark the courage within you to firmly tie that knot when you feel like you’re sliding to the end of your rope, and to fiercely persevere.”

Since launching a major label career in 1994, COLLECTIVE SOUL has charted a path that most rock bands dream of, but only few achieve. They cut through a noisy 1990s rock scene with a knack for stick-to-you-like-glue melodies, roof-shaking guitars, and a touch of Southern grit. Behind enduring singles like “Shine,” “December,” and “The World I Know,” the band hit the ground running for what would not be a short-lived sprint, but a steady marathon of uncompromising – and always catchy – albums. Since launching, they’ve become one of the most reliable rock bands in America, a tried-and-true force in a world often defined by turmoil and turbulence.

Later this summer, the band will hit the road with Hootie & the Blowfish along with Edwin McCain for the “Summer Camp with Trucks Tour” produced by Live Nation. The trek--which will visit 44 cities across the U.S. and Canada--kicks off May 30 in Dallas and runs through September 28 in West Palm Beach, visiting arenas, amphitheaters and select stadiums such as Boston’s iconic Fenway Park (with special guests Barenaked Ladies) along the way. Tickets are on sale now at  LiveNation.com  and  Citientertainment.com .
