Our single trip travel insurance is for a one-off trip of up to 365 days and can include multiple countries. It’s there to cover you if something goes wrong before or during your trip. Helping with medical care if you have an accident or replacing stolen property, which could leave you facing high costs if you don’t have insurance.

What’s not covered?

We aim to provide as much cover as we can on our policies. However, there are some situations no travel insurance will cover. For example:

• You cannot cover events or reasons to claim which took place before you booked the trip or purchased insurance. Insurance exists to cover unexpected events outside of the insured’s control
• Claims which are less than the excess for that section of cover. For example, you cannot claim a £40 lost item if your baggage excess is £60
• All of our single trip travel insurance policies include cover for cancellation of your trip, but there may be some exclusions. For example, you won’t be covered to cancel if you simply decide not to go

Single trip travel insurance with pre-existing medical condition cover

We will consider any pre-existing medical condition, just be sure to declare it before purchasing your policy. Our online medical screening process is simple and we’ll quickly be able to give you a quote. We may be able to include your pre-existing medical condition at no extra cost, but there could be an additional premium.

Does my single trip travel insurance cover covid-19.

Yes, all our travel insurance for single trips covers Covid-19 if;

• you have had the first 2 doses of the Coronavirus vaccinations as recommended by the UK NHS, and are up to date with each Coronavirus booster vaccination for which you are eligible, or you were medically unable to have the vaccinations as evidenced by your medical records; and
• you are travelling to a country or area where the FCDO/WHO are not advising against all or all but essential travel due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

This means that if you catch Coronavirus you’ll be covered to cancel your holiday, or to receive medical treatment abroad. You’ll also be covered if you, or someone you’re travelling with, is personally instructed to isolate. Read our page about Coronavirus travel insurance for more details.

When should I start my single trip travel insurance?

When buying insurance for a one-off holiday, you should enter the dates you’ll be leaving and returning to the UK. You’ll be covered for unexpected cancellations from the time you pay for your policy, even if the travel dates are months away. This means you are free to look forward to your holiday knowing you’re covered!

Can I get one day travel insurance?

Single trip travel insurance can cover trips from one night to 365 nights! Providing cover for medical expenses, personal belongings and over 100 sports and activities .

Even if you’re just staying in the UK, travel insurance will cover you as long as you have overnight accommodation booked. Check the policy wording to see the full terms and conditions, including excess, the amount of cover available and what is and isn’t covered.

Does single trip travel insurance cover cancellation?

All policies include cover for cancellation of your trip under certain circumstances out of your control. There may, however, be some exclusions. For example, you won’t be covered if you just decide you don’t want to go. Likewise, you won’t be covered for cancellation due to something you were aware of before buying your insurance or booking your trip.

Is annual travel insurance cheaper than single trip?

If you’re planning on going away more than once this year, an annual multi-trip travel insurance policy could save you time and money. It will cover you for any trips you take within 12 months in a certain region. It will mean you don’t have to take out separate cover for every trip. Plus it’s often cheaper than taking out two or more single trip travel insurance policies.

Does single trip travel insurance cover multiple countries?

Yes! Let us know your travel dates, and the countries you’ll be visiting, and we’ll offer you a range of single trip travel insurance cover tailored to your plans. 

If you’re planning to visit up to 10 countries on one trip, you can get a quote online . If you have more than 10 on your itinerary, give us a call .

Do I need single trip travel insurance if I have a GHIC/EHIC card?

The EHIC and GHIC entitle the holder to medical treatment at the same price as residents within certain countries. This often means free or reduced costs. However, it won’t cover all medical expenses such as if you’re transported by private ambulance to a private clinic. It also doesn’t cover repatriation to the UK.

The EHIC/GHIC doesn’t work in all countries. It also won’t provide cover for cancellation, lost personal belongings or delayed departure, if something else goes wrong. So it’s always advisable to take out adequate travel insurance as well.

 Are there holiday length restrictions on single trip travel insurance?

Single trip travel insurance covers you for one period away from home – beginning when you set off on your journey and ending when you get back home. A single trip can be anything from one to 365 nights away. It can even be as short and as local as a one-night stay in the UK, as long as you’ve booked accommodation.

Who can buy an InsureandGo single trip travel insurance policy?

All our single trip travel insurance policies are available to UK residents. This means:

• Someone who has been living in the UK or the Channel Islands for at least six of the last 12 months
• They must be in the UK at the time of buying
• All trips must start and end in the UK

InsureandGo is a UK-based travel insurance company that provides coverage for travelers living in the UK, Ireland and Australia. An online-only insurer, InsureandGo offers a wide range of coverage and in the UK will consider coverage for any medical conditions, includes children on annual policies for free, and covers up to 50 adventure activities. 

InsureandGo review: Plan options

InsureandGo travel insurance covers the basics for reimbursement should you have to cancel your trip or have a medical emergency during your travels. It also has a plan geared for cruises. While it lacks some of the features commonly found with the best travel insurance agencies, it is one of the cheapest we evaluated.

We priced out three different plans – a Mississippi river cruise, a vacation in France and an Antarctic adventure. In each case, InsureandGo's plans were significantly cheaper than most of the others in our lineup – sometimes hundreds of dollars below the average. In order to provide these less expensive plans, this trip insurance company does not cover some of the popular but less likely events that others insure, such as trip cancellation due to airline, tour company or cruise line insolvency. It also does not reimburse some of the smaller expenses, like change fees or lost prescriptions, and it lacks a concierge service that most travel insurance companies provide gratis.

InsureandGo review: Coverage

If you are more interested in the basic coverage, however, you may find it's a good deal. It compares well to other plans for how much it reimburses for cancellations, interruptions and delays, and is above average when it comes to lost luggage or baggage delays. It's one of the highest for covering medical expenses. In addition, it has cruise plans with extra coverage for missed departures and compensation for missed cruise days should illness confine you to your cabin.

This company does not provide concierge services, such as a hotline to call to get restaurant reservations, hotel recommendations or even help finding a lawyer. However, for medical emergencies, InsureandGo can locate a doctor for you. As with any insurance, the features, prices and terms vary by your need, so be sure to check the online contracts when you price out your specific plan. This agency does not reimburse lost mileage or cancellations due to default by the carrier. 

InsureandGo review: Making a claim

We found the procedures and rules for filing to be about average. The travel insurance agency is clear about what it requires, specifically noting proof in writing for any event that may lead to a claim. As with other travel insurance companies, you need to download the form, but the forms include a checklist of the required paperwork. If you have questions of an administrative nature, you need to call during business hours, but there is a 24/7 line to call if you have an emergency while on your trip.

Should you choose InsureandGo?

While InsureandGo does not cover all the features of other higher-ranked travel insurances we reviewed, it nonetheless does a good job at covering the basics, with above-average compensation for medical needs and some extra considerations for cruises. The paperwork checklist on the claims form makes it easier to file a claim. It lacks some amenities like concierge service and a 24/7 line for non-emergency questions, but with one of the lowest rates of the insurances we reviewed, it's worth pricing out.

Remarkable cover,value and customer service.

The application was thorough,but well explained.and easy to complete.Having said that I realised on checking our policy that I had made a couple of typing errors.I phoned them up and it was refreshing not to have an exhaustive menu driven answer.No waiting straight through so no robot telling me how important my call is but busy helping other customers.Very quickly and accurately sorted out.Major benefit is ability to renew every year by direct debit.That’s one headache less. I've read the reviews online about Insure and Go, a travel insurance, and they are atrocious. I won't be using this company again as I'm fearful of dealing with them. How can Linda Davis, Head of Operations put her face on the marketing? It's shameful that a company is run so poorly. Customers in good faith purchasing insurance but claims taking a year to settle. Great customer service

Was happy with the initial telephone service and insurance policy. There was a mistake in my email so I did not receive the policy documents etc. However I was able to just call, and get a prompt answer and the issue was easily resolved. This service is worth its weight in gold and I am happy to pay a small premium for high levels of customer service.

Excellent service
