Popular Mahabaleshwar Tour Packages

Mahabaleshwar tour packages faqs.

Q. Which is the peak tourist season in Mahabaleshwar? A. Prior to booking one of the Mahabaleshwar packages, you need to first zero in on the best time to visit Mahabaleshwar. Located on the Western Ghats, typically Mahabaleshwar can be visited round the year save for the monsoon months between July and September when it receives torrential rains. Landslides and flash floods are common in this season and hence best avoided. Otherwise the hill station has moderate climate with summers never getting unbearably hot and the winters staying between mild to cool. You could time your visit to match with the Mapro Strawberry Festival which is essentially the highlight of a summer visit in Mahabaleshwar. A key event in the hill station, it kicks off on Easter Sunday when Mapro, a strawberry farm on the Panchgani-Mahabaleshwar Road hosts a three-day annual strawberry extravaganza to spread the colour and joy of the hill station’s favourite fruit. This one-of-a-kind event brings in farmers from the nearby villages who participate in the festival and showcase their produce. It is a great opportunity to try out a host of strawberry-based goodies such as strawberry pizza, strawberry shakes, strawberry-jam sandwiches, strawberry bhel, strawberry crushes and other strawberry-chocolate drinks. Not to mention, strawberry cakes with strawberry frosting. Most importantly, you can sample a variety of strawberries for free. The event is loaded with other entertainment such as cultural performances, watercolour stalls and Mehendi tattoo stalls. Q. What are the popular activities to pursue in Mahabaleshwar? A. As you go through Mahabaleshwar tour packages, you need to ensure you have an itinerary that includes all the important places of sightsee in the hill station. There are ample things to do in Mahabaleshwar and you would be spoilt for choice. Mahabaleshwar receives plenty of solo travellers and honeymooners from the neighbouring states and also Mumbai who come in for its bucolic setting and pleasant weather which is an immediate relief from the sweltering heat of the plains. Any Mahabaleshwar trip is incomplete without boating on the Venna Lake, which is at the heart of the hill station and its most iconic location. Also, you need to head out to the Pratapgad Fort, view the fort complex, and the ancient temples in Old Mahabaleshwar before browsing the ambient Town Bazaar. The old-world temples you can round up on your Mahabaleshwar visit comprise Panchganga Temple, Krishnabai Temple and Mahabaleshwar Temple. Further on, you can return to main Mahabaleshwar and head out to Venna Lake for some boating, also view Three Monkey Point, Lingmala Waterfalls, Wilson Point, Kate’s Point, Elphinstone Point, to name a few attractions. Q. How can I reach Mahabaleshwar? A. Ahead of settling for one of the Mahabaleshwar holiday packages, you need to first figure out how to reach Mahabaleshwar. Mahabaleshwar is linked through an elaborate network of roads from various parts of Maharashtra and also the neighbouring states. The closest airport to the hill station is the Pune Lohagaon Airport which is about 131 kilometre away, while the nearest railway station, the Wathar Railway Station is around 60 kilometre away. From both the railway station and the airport you will be able to find taxis as well as buses directly to the hill station. Although most weekenders coming in from nearby Pune and Mumbai prefer to drive down and explore the many places to visit Mahabaleshwar. It receives direct flights from all major cities of the country such as Nagpur, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Delhi, Kochi, Trivandrum, Chennai, Goa, Bangalore, Mumbai, Jaipur, Hyderabad to name a few. Other than that there are regular buses by Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) that connect cities like Satara, Pune, Mumbai, Panchgani, Kolhapur to Mahabaleshwar. Mahabaleshwar can be visited round the year. However, the summer months between March and June and then the winter season between November and February are the best to visit the hill station, since the temperatures remain between moderate to cool, and it is a great time to enjoy boating on Venna Lake, explore the ancient temples in Old Mahabaleshwar, visit the Pratapgad Fort and stroll up and down the Town Market. Q. When is the strawberry festival held in Mahabaleshwar? A. The strawberry festival is a summer event that typically kicks off on the Easter weekend with the host, the Mapro Gardens on the Panchgani-Mahabaleshwar Road, coming alive with displays of farm-fresh strawberries. On this three-day event, you can sample strawberries for free, enjoy a strawberry cake, pizzas, shakes, slushes, jams, marmalade, tart, and bhel - all with lots of strawberry in them. Lots of cultural events too take place during this festival. Q. Which is Mahabaleshwar’s most popular attraction? A. The Pratapgad Fort from the 17 th century built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is Mahabaleshwar’s most popular attraction, if you factor out the weather. About 24 kilometre northwest of Mahabaleshwar, the fort was where Shivaji had agreed to meet Mughal General, Afzal Khan to end a stalemate. But this turned out to be the place where Shivaji ended up disembowelling Afzal Khan and his army for breaching the no-arms meeting. It takes a fleet of 500 steps to climb the fort and explore its various quarters and temples, one dedicated to Lord Mahadev and another to Goddess Bhavani that has beautiful wooden columns, a little shikhara, and is steeped in history. You can do a round trip bus tour from the Mahabaleshwar bus stand for INR 150 which includes the hour-long wait time. Q. Which is the closest airport to Mahabaleshwar? A. The site is very popular with honeymooners who like to check-off boating on Venna Lake from their list of things to do in Mahabaleshwar. Lakeside horse rides are also quite popular. There are several small cafes and restaurants along the banks of the lake where you can sit down to grab a bite along with a hot cup of coffee. The lake otherwise has a very picturesque setting, being surrounded by lush jungles it makes for a perfect photo opportunity. As you enjoy boating on Venna Lake, you can take in the cool breeze and view the mist-covered treetops. The main city market is only 2 kilometre from the lake.
