Finally, and appropriately, a blissfully sleeping leopard is the realization of your wildest African dreams. Big game drives are one of many captivating experiences that await across Africa and Arabia. Alaska-Which excursions are a must do?

By JACKHAWK , March 31, 2009 in Regent Seven Seas Cruises

Cool Cruiser

We absolutely love Regent. Third cruise in 18 mos. Embarking on 7/22 and trying to plan excursions. Too many to choose from. I'm getting a headache trying to read through them all and getting more and more confused. Can anyone recommend the "absolutely must not miss" excursions? or even a list of "waste of time" excursions? Anything to narrow down the list a bit.

Hi. It would help to know if you have a mix of adults and children in your group or if you are just adults, and also to know if there are any fitness restrictions on anyone.

Are you primarily interested in nature, wildlife, history?

Do you have a particular interest in or aversion to planes, helicopters, trains?

Cattravel10

Well, I can name one that I would NEVER miss - the Sea Otter and Wildlife Quest out of Sitka. It is awesome!!!!!! Will be on it third time this June.

And of course, the Tracy Arm excursion. Beautiful, outstanding !!! Saw a bit of calving which is beyond description and of course, seeing the seals with babies floating by on icebergs. Am a critter lover, so if you are - these are the two that are must do's. Tracy Arm and Sea Otter Quest !!!

I'm glad JACKHAWK asked the question. I, too, am getting dizzy trying to sort through all the options. Will eagerly follow this post. (We're more scenery people than critter people.) (We'd would love to do one of those highly-touted helicopter excursions, though many residents seem to be appalled by the noise and environmental disturbances.)

Thanks in advance to all Regent folks who've already been there, done that.

jina

I echo the Tracy Arm recommendation -we're doing this cruise again this June (was on Mariner in '06) and cannot wait to do this excursion again. The Wildlife and Sea Otter one was OK - we saw tons of wildlife, but we got a bit seasick as the boat went far out to sea to look for whales towards the end. We did the evening whale watching in Juneau the night before which we really enjoyed. I am assuming if we had not done the Juneau trip the Sea Otter one would have blown us away but we were kind of whale watched out by then and the rough seas just made things worse.

Re: helicopters, in Skagway we did the Heli-Hike-Rail tour which had a quick helicopter ride, we were dropped off to hike to a glacier, then took the train back into town. We'd probably skip the helicopter if we were to do it again - it all went by so fast and it was hard to see out the windows. This time we're doing a 40 min floatplane to see glaciers in Juneau - I haven't heard much about it re: reviews but the photos from similar trips we've seen online look pretty amazing. We're also doing a boat trip out to Misty Fjords -I've heard that's a pretty neat tour.

To be honest, I don't think you can go wrong on Alaska excursions - it's such a magical place. We loved every single excursion we did last time (minus the helicopter ride) and can't wait to do new ones on this trip (the only repeat for us is Tracy Arm as that was the highlight last time).

tulsa traveler

My son and husband loved the zip line and would do that again.

We agree that the Sea Otter and Wildlife Quest in Sitka was great. We also walked around town and went to visit the Russian Bishop's house on our own there, which was interesting. In Juneau, we did whale watching and a helicopter glacier landing with dog sledding. Unlike many others, our experience with Captain Larry was not great; we saw more whales on the Wildlife Quest. The dogsledding was fun; we did that with Coastal Helicopters; however, if you have "free" Regent excursions, your choices will be different presumably. In Skagway, we did the Whitepass train, which is neat; Regent had it's own cars. In Ketchikan we did a floatplane over the Misty Fjords with a mountain lake landing and takeoff, which was also great. Finally, if you are spending a few extra days in the Anchorage area, a trip to Denali and/or Talkeetna is a great add-on, especially if the weather co-operates. We took an incredible flight around McKinley from Talkeetna.

linda_22003

linda_22003

I'm very happy to hear that, since we've booked it. :)

raiderette

linda22003 and Cattravel10:

We also booked this excursion and can not wait. When are you cruising, we are on the Sitka to Vancouver sailing on June 24, 2009.

We're on the first of the season: May 20 from Seward to Vancouver.

I am on the June 10 sailing, Seward to Vancouver. Trying not to worry about Mt. Redoubt disrupting flight arrival to Anchorage.

We are also on the May 20th cruise from Seward to Vancouver. We are really getting excited!

Linda, We are also on the May 20th cruise from Seward to Vancouver. We are really getting excited!
What would they do if they close the airport?:(

Wendy The Wanderer

Wendy The Wanderer

What did I miss? Why would an airport be closed?

Mt. Redoubt has been erupting sending ash and from what I understand, could go on awhile, as in months, so a bit of concern. Anchorage airport has been closed on and off due to this.

You'd have to hope you could get a flight to Fairbanks, and then get to Anchorage by bus or train, and then to Seward. You might be okay if you're scheduled to come in a day early, but probably not if you're coming in the day your cruise departs (too much travel time from Fairbanks to Seward).

Adding to the complication is that they've been making these decisions about grounding flights with almost no warning, according to the volcano's activity and the direction of the winds. So it's not like you'd have days, or even hours, to arrange alternate travel.

There's absolutely no way to know now what will be going on with the volcano in 6 weeks and beyond when the Alaska cruises begin, and not much I can think for anyone to do about it right now. Perhaps if you have a flight to Anchorage on the departure date of your cruise, you could look into switching it a day or two earlier, just to build in more leeway in case of problems with airport shutdowns at the time -- there's certainly plenty of extra sightseeing you can do with an extra day or two if flights run on schedule!

(We're fortunately on a northbound cruise in early June, so if Redoubt is still erupting then, it won't affect us getting to the ship, only getting home -- and who really cares if we get home a day or two late! ;) )

We are coming in a day early. Lets hope the volcano decides to take a little rest. Would work for me I worry about everything.

My absolute favorite in Alaska was the helicopter and dog sledding excursion. It was pricey, but I thought worth every cent. We were fortunate to have a clear and warm day so the visibility of the glaciers was amazing. We also did the float plane excursion and if I had to choose between the two, I would do the helicopter/dog sledding tour in an instance.

NoviceCruiser3

We're embarking on 7/22 as well & just booked all our excursions. It took a few days for us to digest it all, esp. since we are 1st time cruisers.

FWIW, we (along w/ our 8yo daughter) will be doing Denali pre-cruise, Tracey Arm, a heli-dog sled trip, raft/4x4 volcano, float plane bear excursion, and a steam train excursion. Then a few days post in Vancouver.

Where on board are you?

We are coming in a day early. Lets hope the volcano decides to take a little rest.

Indeed! I just talked to a colleague who just got back from Alaska where he's furnishing the retirement home he's just built in Homer. He got back four days late due to the flight cancellations out of Anchorage. Gotta hope that's not going on when high tourist season kicks in next month!

I know this is probably a stupid question, but has this volcano been active for quite some time. I had never heard of it until I started looking into an Alaskan cruise. We have a brother in law who lives in Anchorage and he has never mentioned it.

Carol From California

Carol From California

We are booked on August 5 cruise, Seward-Vancouver. I read about everyone saying not to miss Tracy Arm but when I inquired, there is no "excursion", only sailing through this area. What am I missing?

Carol: The Tracy Arm excursion should appear when you look at the excursion list on your "Already Booked" section of RSSC website. It's on August 8 and it's called "Tracy Arm Fjord and Glacier Explorer." ($39.00) It's some sort of catamaran, I believe. It goes up through the Arm and meets the Mariner in Juneau (around 1:30).

They may not be offering the Tracy Arm Excursion as late as August 5, not sure but the weather dictates whether it is available ot not.

regent seven seas explorer shore excursions

Regent’s Seven Seas Society cruise loyalty program: The ultimate guide

MSN has partnered with The Points Guy for our coverage of credit card products. MSN and The Points Guy may receive a commission from card issuers.

Among luxury cruise lines, Regent Seven Seas Cruises has one of the most robust loyalty programs.

Despite being a relatively small brand with just five ships, it offers an impressive seven tiers of loyalty status as part of what it calls the Seven Seas Society. Each of the tiers brings a number of perks, some quite valuable.

As you start to rise through the Seven Seas Society tiers, you’ll find yourself rewarded with everything from onboard spending credits and free onboard Wi-Fi service to — at the highest levels — discounts of 5% to 10% on every cruise you book.

Those benefits work out to be real money in your pocket, as they will lower the cost of your cruise vacation.

For more cruise guides, news and tips, sign up for TPG’s cruise newsletter .

The robustness of Regent’s program is all the more impressive, given that the line is one of the most all-inclusive in the world. Regent includes a lot of benefits in its fares — such as drinks and shore excursions — that other lines give away only as loyalty perks to their best customers.

That leaves Regent with fewer perks to offer in its loyalty program. Still, it has come up with some creative ways to reward its most loyal fans, including several that will make a big impact on their wallets.

Ways to earn points

The points-earning system for the Seven Seas Society program is about as simple as can be: You will earn 1 point for every night you stay on a Regent ship.

That’s it. There are no bonus points for staying in a top suite, as there are at some lines. Nor will you get extra points for spending certain amounts of money with the line, as is sometimes the case.

The only exception to the above is for solo cruisers who pay a “single supplement” of 75% or more to stay in a cabin designed for two. They get 2 points for every night they stay on a ship.

For the most part, though, if you take a 10-night cruise with Regent, you will get 10 points (which the line calls “nights”). Take a 20-night cruise, and you will get 20 points.

Related: 5 secrets to getting a luxury cruise for less

Note that in most cases, your points will accrue upon completion of the cruise on which they are earned. In the case of Regent’s longer Grand Voyages and World Cruises, you’ll see your points pop into your account at the end of each official segment of the trip. (You can access your account and more information about Regent’s loyalty program at the Regent website ).

Either way, though, if the number of nights you are sailing during a cruise will elevate you to the next tier of rewards, you will enjoy instant recognition at the higher tier from the moment you board — a great feature of the program in our eyes.

One notable caveat to points earning in the program: You only will get credit for nights where you actually are present on a Regent ship. If you have to leave a cruise early, you won’t earn points for the nights you are not on board. You also won’t earn points for any nights spent in hotels as part of Regent’s pre- and post-cruise hotel and land programs.

Seven Seas Society tiers and benefits

There are seven tiers in the Seven Seas Society program:

  • Bronze (7-20 nights)
  • Silver (21-74 nights)
  • Gold (75-199 nights)
  • Platinum (200-399 nights)
  • Titanium (400-999 nights)
  • Diamond (1,000-1,999 nights)
  • Commodore (2,000-plus nights)

Regent only offers cruises of seven nights or longer, so you’ll be at the first tier of the program, Bronze, after a single sailing. If you book one of Regent’s longer sailings as your first cruise with the line, you might even catapult into the second or third tier of the program after just one sailing.

Related: A beginners guide to cruise line loyalty programs

As is typical for cruise line loyalty programs, the entry-level tier (Bronze) doesn’t bring all that much in terms of truly valuable rewards. The most alluring benefit at this level is the exclusive Seven Seas Society savings that are available on some departures.

In addition, Bronze members get:

  • Access to an online personal profile
  • An invitation to an onboard Seven Seas Society cocktail reception
  • Double loyalty points when paying extra to sail solo

The double loyalty points for sailing solo only apply when paying a “single supplement” of at least 75% of the regular cruise fare for a cabin designed for two people.

Upon reaching the second tier of the program, Silver, things start getting more interesting. In addition to the Bronze-level rewards, you’ll get priority access when making dinner reservations for the three main specialty restaurants on Regent ships: Prime 7, Chartreuse and Pacific Rim. This is a great perk as it’ll give you a better shot at getting the dinner times you want at these eateries.

The Silver level also will get you the following:

  • Priority online shore excursion reservations
  • One hour of complimentary phone time every time you sail
  • A commemorative pin
  • A newsletter

At the next level up (Gold), the perks include all of the above plus a $100 shipboard credit per suite every time you sail. We love that perk, as it amounts to real money in your pocket. Plus, you’ll get:

  • Unlimited Wi-Fi for free with four logins for up to four devices
  • Two more hours of free phone time (for three hours in total)
  • Priority disembarkation at voyage completion in select ports
  • Choice of newspaper service from papers around the world
  • Exclusive activities on board or ashore on every voyage

The Platinum level brings six more hours of phone time and complimentary luggage tags, two perks that don’t get us all that excited. The latter perk, in particular, is something that seems better in an entry-level tier (though to be fair, these luggage tags are made from quality leather).

But the Platinum level also adds the use of free custom air service once per sailing, which can come in handy. It lets you call a Regent concierge who will help customize your included-in-the-fare flights, so they work best for your schedule. Otherwise, you’re stuck with the flights that Regent picks for you or have to pay an extra charge to change them.

Related: Look inside Regent’s swankiest ship ever

The Platinum level also brings a 10% discount on Regent Choice shore excursions (the line’s collection of niche or intimate extra-fee tours), hotel and land programs. This one perk alone could end up saving you hundreds of dollars.

As noted above, you’ll be at the Bronze tier after just one sailing with Regent. Reaching the Silver tier could take as many as three cruises if you stick to seven-night sailings. But you also could reach it in just one longer cruise.

The number of cruises it’ll take you to reach the Gold and Platinum tiers will depend on whether you do short or long sailings. If you stick to seven-night sailings, you’d have to take a whopping 29 cruises to reach the Platinum tier. But there are super long Regent cruises, such as a 168-night world cruise planned for 2025, that will get you almost all the way to Platinum level with a single voyage.

The elite level that makes a difference

We like quite a few of the perks available at the Bronze through Platinum levels of the Seven Seas Society program. But it is at the Titanium level that things really start to impress us.

Specifically, the Titanium level comes with four really nice perks:

  • Free private transfers between your home or the airport and the ship, within a 100-mile radius, on embarkation and disembarkation day
  • Free unlimited dry cleaning
  • An additional 15% discount on Regent Choice shore excursions, hotels and land programs (for 25% total savings)
  • Access to your suite at 1 p.m. on embarkation day

We absolutely love the private-transfer perk, which lets you start and end your trips in style. There’s nothing like having a private car pick you up at home at the start of the trip or a chauffeur waiting for you upon arrival at the airport. We also love the free unlimited dry cleaning perk. The discounts on shore excursions, hotels and land programs at this level can save you big money — more than $1,000 when booking some add-on land programs.

Related: The best credit cards for booking cruises

Getting to the Titanium level in the Seven Seas Society takes a whole lot of cruising. At a minimum, you’d need to spend the equivalent of more than a year at sea to hit the 400-night threshold for the tier. You could do that by sailing 58 seven-night cruises, 29 two-week cruises or three world cruises (the latter typically lasting around 150 to 170 days).

Best Seven Seas Society elite perk

Regent’s Seven Seas Society program doesn’t include a truly over-the-top perk, like the free cruises that rival Silversea Cruises gives out to members who hit certain milestones. But we do appreciate the 5% and 10% discounts on cruise fares that the line offers to members who reach the Diamond and Commodore tiers, respectively. That can be worth thousands of dollars when booking some sailings. Note that these discounts are available on any sailing you book, not just select Seven Seas Society sailings (for which, as mentioned above, you can get discounts upon reaching the Bronze tier of the program).

Diamond-level members also get one free Regent Choice shore excursion per voyage segment, up to $250 in value, as well as an invitation to new ship christenings (something that doesn’t happen all that often, alas).

The Commodore level adds two more perks that, while not worth a huge amount monetarily, are about as cool as it gets in the world of loyalty programs:

  • A commemorative Commodore officers jacket
  • A commemorative plaque in your name placed on all ships in the Regent fleet

The cutoffs for the Diamond and Commodore tiers are 1,000 nights and 2,000 nights at sea, respectively — levels that only the most dedicated cruisers can reach. But with years of heavy sailings, the feat is doable.

Related: Regent unveils epic, monthslong world cruise

Note that, as is often the case with cruise line loyalty programs, Regent customers do not have to requalify for status each year. Seven Seas Society members keep their points at the end of each year and continue to accrue points indefinitely. That means that someone who hits Commodore status (and gets that cool jacket) will remain at that top-tier level forever (or until Regent makes a change to the program).

Such “forever status” is one of the great allures of cruise line loyalty programs. Many airline frequent flyer programs, by contrast, require members to requalify for status each year.

Bottom line

Regent Seven Seas Cruises has a robust frequent cruiser program with some great perks at its higher tiers. While it doesn’t offer a single perk that is truly knock-your-socks-off, such as the free cruises that a few lines give to customers who reach high levels of status, it brings significant discounts and value-added perks that begin at mid-tier levels.

This is all the more impressive given that Regent is one of the most all-inclusive lines in cruising. Regent includes so many things in its fares — such as drinks, unlimited Wi-Fi and shore excursions — that it leaves very little available to offer to loyal customers as an upgrade other than straight-out discounts on trips. But the line has found other ways to add value  — from free concierge service when arranging flights to a commemorative Commodore jacket.

SPONSORED:  With states reopening, enjoying a meal from a restaurant no longer just means curbside pickup.

And when you do spend on dining, you should use a credit card that will maximize your rewards and potentially even score special discounts. Thanks to temporary card bonuses and changes due to coronavirus, you may even be able to score a meal at your favorite restaurant for free.

These are the best credit cards for dining out, taking out, and ordering in to maximize every meal purchase.

Explore both cosmopolitan London and a deeply fascinating corner or Britain, the beautiful countryside of Kent. Admire a variety of popular attractions such as the Tower of London and it’s Crown Jewels, the Battle of Britain Monument, Dover Castle and the surrounding area that is referred to as “the Garden of England”.

Fly into London Heathrow or London Gatwick Airport. Here you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Although every effort will be made to have your room available prior to the 3:00pm check in, this cannot be guaranteed.

Note: Once you have gone through Customs and Immigration you will collect your luggage at the carousel, walk through the “nothing to declare” channel and then exit into the arrivals hall where your driver will be waiting with a sign with the cruise line logo.

The remainder of the day and meals are on your own, after which you will overnight at the hotel.

London is a city that inspires and amazes! A capital that basks in its rich history where around every corner there is something new, yet something very familiar. We take you on a tour of this majestic city, fully guided by a London expert.

Note: the normally scheduled private tour for just our group of the Crown Jewels is not available on this sailing and has been replaced with a shared experience as detailed below:

Experience the infamous Tower of London with exclusive access on a Beefeater tour. Normally visitors must wait in long queues and share the tour with hundreds of other visitors; however, your experience promises a Beefeater guard dedicated only to our group and up to a maximum of 30 guests (shared experience).

At the Tower of London you will meet a City Wonders representative who will share with you an inspiring introduction to the history of this attraction. Used as both a Palace and a prison, this landmark is most well-known as the home of the Crown Jewels and execution site of three Queens of England.

You will then be led in to meet one of the Tower’s Yeoman Warders, more commonly known as Beefeaters. This Beefeater will explain the story and traditions of this elite guard and will be available to take pictures and answer questions.

After the tour, you are free to stay in the Tower to explore its vast history. Visit the Tower Green to see the spot where Henry the VIII, the infamous Tudor King, beheaded two of his wives: Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard. You can also explore the famous White Tower, a medieval keep, where the ‘Princes in the Tower’ were held and allegedly murdered by their Uncle Richard III so he could usurp the English throne.

Because this tour begins early in the morning, you will have the opportunity to be among the first visitors to the Jewel House to see the spectacular Crown Jewels, which have been held here for the last 600 years. These are the official regalia and vestments used by the Sovereign of the United Kingdom during coronation ceremonies and other noble appearances. This priceless collection includes magnificent orbs, swords, rings, crowns and sceptres.

This is followed by a champagne cruise on the River Thames as you pass by the iconic Tower Bridge, St Paul's Cathedral and the Palace of Westminster. A 2-course lunch in a top London restaurant to enjoy a ‘Taste of Britain’ menu will follow.

In the afternoon enjoy a guided panoramic tour of the city, starting from Parliament and Westminster Abbey, peer along Downing Street, home of the British Prime Minister, circle around Trafalgar Square, see vibrant Piccadilly Circus and the opulent Albert Memorial and view the city's famous museums such as the Victoria and Albert and the Science Museum. Head into Knightsbridge to drive by Harrods and then take a short walk for a photo stop outside Buckingham Palace before returning to your hotel at the end of this entertaining and rewarding day.

Please note: Parts of the itinerary may be reversed depending on local traffic conditions.

Upon returning to your hotel, the evening is at spent at your leisure, dinner is on your own.

Travel to a surprisingly unique and deeply fascinating corner of Britain, the beautiful county of Kent, with its lush green landscape, bountiful orchards, fruit markets and bustling vegetable farms it is known, quite rightly, as The Garden of England.

But Kent is not just a collection of charming villages and narrow country lanes, its proximity to the continent has made it both a rewarding and dangerous place to be. Whether it be Roman or Norman invaders, the arrival of Christianity through St Augustine, or French Huguenot refugees escaping persecution, the county of Kent has seen it all.

More recently, though, it was in the firing line from Luftwaffe during World War Two, specifically the Battle of Britain in 1940. The sky over the county echoed to the sound of dogfights between the Royal Air Force and the enemy.

Enjoy a drive into the heart of the region, through fields of market produce, tomatoes, onions, orchards of apples and the ever-present hop fields. We pause in the delightful village of Chilham. With its timber framed cottages huddled below the stately Manor House at the head of the old square. Visit the church and see the ancient Yew tree which took root way back in 690AD.

Pay a visit to the Battle of Britain memorial that overlooks the famous White Cliffs of the South Coast. From here, as we look out to the French coast, we make the short journey to Dover Castle, the largest castle in England. Visit the 2,000-year-old Roman lighthouse, Henry II's magnificent 12th century stone keep and explore the extensive range of tunnels dating from the Napoleonic Wars and World War Two.

The next stop is the award winning Gusbourne Vineyard. As a founding member of Sustainable Wines of Great Britain, Gusbourne carries an accreditation that reflects the most exacting environmental standards. The visit begins with a glass of sparkling wine on arrival followed by an exclusive vineyard tour. Learn the processes and methods to transform fruit into great wines, all while taking in the stunning views. The tour concludes with a 2- course, locally sourced lunch and tutored wine tasting.

Once the visit ends, begin the journey back to London where the remainder of the evening is at your leisure and dinner is on your own.

After breakfast and check out, begin your journey to the ship via one of the wonders of the world and the best-known prehistoric monument in Europe ‘Stonehenge’. Entry to the site is included but the tour is self-guided.

Please meet in the lobby 15-minutes prior to departure, having settled any incidentals, where you will be met by a representative who will accompany you on the drive. Once at the port you will embark the ship.

After arriving at the Keflavík airport, you will transfer to the Reykjavík Grand Hotel for a 3 pm check-in.

Note: Although the rooms are comfortable, they are quite basic.

The remainder of the day will be at your leisure with meals on your own.

The team at the Regent Seven Seas Hospitality desk can offer recommendations for sightseeing and dining.

After breakfast at the hotel, you will depart for Þingvellir National Park, an attraction of great historical, geological and cultural significance. It is located in a rift valley where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet. The site is also where Iceland’s Parliament was founded in 930 AD. Thingvellir became Iceland’s first national park in 1930 and is home to Iceland’s largest natural lake, Thingvallavatn.

You will next visit Gullfoss Waterfalls, whose name comes from the golden color of its water as it churns up silt and sediment. These magnificent waterfalls in the Hvitá River are fed by Langjökull, Iceland’s second largest glacier. The cascades are more than 100 feet high and fall in two tiers making for a magnificent sight. If not for the tenacity of a local environmental activist, Gullfoss would have been covered by the waters of a proposed hydroelectric dam.

Continuing on, you will head for the Geysir geothermal area in Haukadalur Valley, home to the Geysir hot spring. Although Geysir doesn’t erupt often, it is surrounded by bubbling cauldrons of superheated mud, steaming pools and Strokkur, a geyser that erupts every 6-10 minutes. The geothermal activity at this popular destination is much like that happening all across and beneath Iceland that naturally powers countless hot tubs, swimming pools and greenhouses.

That same energy is used to bake bread underground at the aptly named Geothermal Bakery. After learning about the process, you will help extract a loaf of dark rye bread from the ground oven and sample it. If you wish, you can slather on butter and top the bread with a piece of herring or trout.

Later, you will see Kerið, a volcanic crater lake located in the Grímsnes area that is one of the most visually stunning geological wonders in the country. This vibrant blue gem, which is part of the Western Volcanic Zone that includes the Reykjanes peninsula and the Langjökull Glacier, is it one of the three most recognizable volcanic craters in Iceland because of its unique red rock.

Once you return to the hotel, the remainder of the day will be at your leisure with dinner on your own.

After breakfast at the hotel, you will depart for a full day of touring south Iceland. While traveling through a mountain pass and into fertile farmland, you will enjoy astonishing views of the countryside, especially along this section of the Ring Road, which is flanked by rugged mountains, glittering glaciers and towering volcanoes.

Depending on the weather conditions, you may see Eyjafjallajökull, the site of a volcanic eruption in 2010 that was so enormous that its ash cloud halted Europe’s air traffic for several days.

Later, you will behold the beauty of Seljalandsfoss waterfall as it tumbles off Eyjafjallajökull Glacier into a deep pool below. If you don’t mind getting wet, you can walk behind the cascade to see it from the other side.

You will also see the majestic waterfall Skógafoss and stroll along the black volcanic sand beach at Reynisfjara. The basalt sea stacks rising out of the water there are absolutely spectacular.

Upon returning to the hotel, the remainder of the day will be at your leisure with dinner on your own.

Following breakfast at the hotel and check out, you will transfer to the REK airport for your flight to the UK. Upon arrival in London, you will proceed through Customs and Immigration. After luggage claim, you will be met and assisted with a transfer to the port of Southampton where you will board the ship.

If any flight delays are encountered while enroute, guests should proceed to the airline counter for updates. Downloading the free airline app will also keep guests current of any changes and in the event of a cancellation or delay, the airline will notify them, via the app, of their new schedule.

Your day begins in a Royal Palace after breakfast at your hotel and a short drive outside the city.

On the banks of the River Thames, Hampton Court Palace started life in 1515 as a magnificent brick stately home for Cardinal Thomas Wolsey. Seized by Henry VIII at Wolsey's downfall, the Palace was enlarged and became home for Henry and wife number two, Anne Boleyn.

Explore with a Hampton Court guide the Tudor bedrooms, oak panelled corridors and extensive Royal kitchens. Visit the magnificent chapel and banqueting hall. See how the Palace received a makeover by Sir Christopher Wren during the late 17th century reign of William and Mary. Enjoy the works of art from the Royal Collection on display throughout the building and take time to stroll around the grounds, admiring the fountains and getting yourself lost in the famous Hampton Court maze!

Return to the city for a superb 2-course lunch in a top London restaurant to enjoy a ‘Taste of Britain’ menu followed by a cruise on the River Thames. Sip a glass of Champagne as you pass by the iconic Tower Bridge, St Paul's Cathedral and the Palace of Westminster.

After breakfast at your hotel, begin the day with a journey to England's West Country, to the elegant city of Bath, famed for its therapeutic hot springs, a long and varied Roman history plus the beautiful terraces, crescents and circuses of the 18th Century that adorn the residential area of the city.

Bath's foundations go back to Celtic times when the springs were first discovered, and the healing properties realized. Enjoying the warm waters, the Roman invaders soon arrived in the first century and called this place Aquae Sulis turning it into one of the most important religious centers and military settlements in the northern part of the empire.

Through the Saxon era and the Mediaeval period up to the city's new foundation as a resort for Georgian aristocrats, making the three-day journey from the capital, the wealthy elite would take the waters to cure themselves of rheumatic diseases, stiffness of the joints and gout.

On arrival in Bath there will be a guided tour where you will walk along the original Roman pavement, before entering the Roman Baths to see the hot baths and remains of the temple of Sulis Minerva.

Next, take a drive though the delightful rolling hills and meandering streams of the Cotswolds, to honey-coloured stone villages down narrow country lanes. Time seems to have been given very little chance to march forward around these parts. Cottages of 17th century weavers’ homes stand next to chuckling streams, gentle rolling green hills and hidden valleys that stretch across these limestone uplands. With an expert guide on board your coach you will set about exploring this area and meander through this wonderful landscape.

Visit Burford where the old weavers’ houses cascade down to the valley of the River Windrush below and see Stow on the Wold with its ancient marketplace and hilltop views. Enjoy a hearty pub lunch in an old English hostelry during your journey around the Cotswold Hills as well as photo stops and guided walks in each of the villages you call into.

Back in London at your hotel, the remainder of the evening is at your leisure and dinner is on your own.

After breakfast and check out, begin your journey to the ship via one of the wonders of the world and the best-known prehistoric monument in Europe ‘Stonehenge’.

Entry to the site is included, with an audio guide. Kindly be in the lobby 15 minutes prior to departure, having settled any incidentals, where you will be met by a local representative.

As a guest you’ll always know where to find our General Manager, whose sole responsibility is making sure things are running as they should – and that includes providing you with superior customer service.
  • Golf Net The glorious ocean vistas you’ll admire every day won’t necessarily have you thinking of golf course fairways, but if you find yourself wishing you could be practicing your fairway swing, head to our Golf Net. All the clubs and golf balls you need are available. Who knows? Maybe you’ll return home from your voyage with a few kinks worked out of your golf swing...
  • INFINITY-EDGE PLUNGE POOL Surrounded by an inviting teak-deck terrace filled with plush, partially covered lounge chairs, our refreshing Infinity-Edge Plunge Pool is a perfect place to soak and take in dramatic views, as the pool contours to the stern of the ship.
  • Paddle Tennis Court One look at our Paddle Tennis Court and you’ll know it’s a place of serious competition. All the equipment you need is nearby, the court is completely screened and the surface is immaculate. Whether you find yourself in a tense match or something more leisurely, you and your fellow players will be enjoying fresh ocean air and fantastic views from high atop your ship.
  • Pool Bar When you envision the type of activity you’re only likely to do while on vacation, sipping a frozen drink at a pool bar onboard a glorious cruise ship is probably near the top of the list. You can tick that box at our Pool Bar, where you and new friends can enjoy leisurely conversation over cocktails and frozen drinks in a delightfully relaxed atmosphere.
  • Pool Deck If it’s a day by the pool you desire, our Pool Deck is one of the most elegant at sea. Outfitted in teak accents, it features a lavish pool and two whirlpools in a blissful setting. Lounge the day away under the warm sun or read a book in a shady nook with an amiable and dedicated crew on-hand to bring refreshing beverages and plush towels.
  • Putting Green While the Golf Net is meant to help you improve your fairway swing, our Putting Greens are less about self-improvement than group fun as your ship travels from one destination to another. A popular pastime is gathering friends after an afternoon cocktail and heading to the top deck of Seven Seas Splendor® for a spirited competition as twilight approaches and a delicious dinner in one of our stellar restaurants looms.
  • Shuffleboard This isn’t the sleepy version of shuffleboard. From high atop Seven Seas Splendor®, you’ll be enchanted by ocean vistas stretching horizon to horizon as you engage in a game that dates back to 15th-century England. All equipment is well-maintained and available for use – all you have to do is bring a team, or perhaps join one in need of a player.
  • Sports Deck You may visit our Sports Deck after a relaxing visit to Serene Spa & Wellness™ to jog a few laps around our track or practice your fairway golf swing. Then again, you could head up to Deck 12 after an afternoon cocktail to take on new friends in games of bocce ball or paddle tennis. Whatever you do, you’ll enjoy the freshest ocean air and vistas you’ll never forget.
  • The Study In an atmosphere that’s reminiscent of a personal library in an elegant, stately home, Regent Suite guests may gather in The Study to privately dine on meals from the adjacent Chartreuse and Prime 7 restaurants. Challenge friends to poker and blackjack or cheer on your number at the roulette wheel. Find your way to our Casino through stylish glass doors – and may Lady Luck treat you kindly.

This guest favorite is many things: a hallmark, a much-loved hideaway, an elegant gathering place for good conversation and bonhomie. Aboard  Seven Seas Splendor ® it’s also a modern space with oversize leather armchairs and signature works of art placed tastefully throughout. Stop in and test the conversational waters over a fine cigar or fine cognac, both available for purchase. As you would guess, smoking is permitted here.

  • Constellation Theater Plush seating and pleasing sightlines make every seat a great seat in our state-of-the-art show hall. Stretching two decks, the Constellation Theater boasts lavishly staged, high-energy shows created and produced by our own team of Broadway choreographers and directors. • Meridian Lounge Elegantly appointed and comfortably furnished, this sleek lounge is a showstopper, with an expansive bar serving your favorite cocktails. Warm lighting and sophisticated ambiance are integral to its charm, but its vibe is the intangible draw. Meet for a drink before a show at the Constellation Theater or to continue your unforgettable evening with performances by resident musicians afterwards.
  • Observation Lounge Our fleet abounds with spectacular suites, restaurants, and lounges, but the Observation Lounge on Seven Seas Splendor® is truly magical. It offers staggering views as the ship enters and leaves ports of call, but its interior is lush with upholsteries inspired by the fluidity of flower petals, giving it the feel of a sunlit English garden. At night, a whimsical chandelier and hand-painted glass screens work in tandem with a cocktail pianist to perfect the scene.

RSSC-Regent Seven Seas Cruises introduces new 'Ultimate All-Inclusive' fare structure

CruiseMapper logo

RSSC-Regent Seven Seas Cruises has revised its fare offerings, removing flights and transfers from its standard package and introducing a new "ultimate all-inclusive fare."

Previously, Regent Seven Seas Cruises' standard offering included return flights, transfers between the airport and ship, unlimited shore excursions, Wi-Fi, drinks, and gratuities.

For new bookings made by July 1, the revised "all-inclusive cruise" fare will no longer include flights and transfers.

To accommodate guests seeking comprehensive inclusivity, the line has introduced an "ultimate all-inclusive" fare. This fare will cover flights, coach transfers between the airport and ship, and private chauffeur credit up to US$500, which can be used for transfers between home and airport or for upgrading coach transfers.

Bookings made before July 1 will retain their originally selected amenities without any changes.

President Andrea DeMarco said that "Regent prides itself on taking all-inclusive luxury to a whole new level whether on land or at sea."

“Our standard inclusions have been carefully curated to optimise each guests’ cruise vacation, taking into consideration what our guests have consistently told us they value the most, and our team is always ready to go above and beyond to ensure every moment aboard and ashore is tailored to exceed expectations.”
