Fall Foliage Brunch Cruise

We went on this 5 hour cruise for my husband’s birthday. We thought it would be something different. The crew were nice and tried their best. However, the boat itself was a little dirty, and could use some sprucing up. There weren’t enough tables for everyone on board. Being that it’s a little chilly, we stayed inside for the most part and you can’t see the views from inside because all the windows have fogged up. My 9 year old did not enjoy it at all. The trip started from Atlantic Highlands to Westpoint. If you’re looking for foliage, the first two weeks in October may not be ideal. We went on Oct 13 and the leaves have yet to change colors. I’m giving it a 3 star for the crew.

Please feel free to reach out to us directly if we can be of further assistance at [email protected]. Best regards, Seastreak

Went with a friend to enjoy the fall foliage on Seastreak, which we boarded on Wall Street in lower Manhattan. The ship's interior is clean and well appointed. Seats were plentiful on a Saturday. Affordable snacks and beverages served on board. Our destination was Cold Spring, NY. The tour guide struggled with the sound system but did her best to let us know what points of interest we were passing. Disappointed that the leaves haven't changed colors yet, but that's not their fault. Cold Spring has a small shopping village with interesting wares and dining options. May reschedule to see the foliage.

This ferry couldn't care less about the passengers. The commute is already very long for anyone on the shore to NY and they just keep makig it worse. First, major maintenance problems kept canceling boats. Then the new Commodore finally came but the whole concept is wrong. They didn't need to replace a boat with one big one but add more. The larger boat now means a total disaster parking with everyone arriving at once, so now you must come even earlier or park in an overflow lot and walk an extra 5 minutes. Of course the boat also takes longer to load/offload, so tack on another few extra minutes. Then if the return trip does not stop first where you parked the car add another 15. Crazy! They need to add more boats and add another 1-2 departures around rush hour. But all they care about is how to gouge passengers. I switched to the Belford ferry. Nnot great but better than this, and cheaper.

We booked a trip for two from Oak Bluffs to Martha's Vineyard with two bikes. My wife was not going to be able to ride do to an issue, so I called for a refund. They would only provide a credit, good for one year. This is our only trip to the island, so I would never use the credit. So now I have to pay for bike that won't even be on the boat. Oh, and if you want to change your reservation, $20 charge.

We rode by the ferry station and passed a few of the Seastreak ferries Underway back to Long Island. They are new and sleek.

I was so disappointed last night. They should have known better how to position the boat especially since they’ve been doing this for years. We saw a partial viewing of only one barge of fireworks. As I’m watching I said to my friend isn’t there supposed to be 4 or 5 barges of fireworks. That’s how I’ve seen the fireworks on tv all these years. And we were so far away even the single set of the fireworks we saw were so non-descriptive. I think we were viewing the back of the show. It just was not worth $90 a ticket. The boat was playing music through one single speaker and it did not coordinate with the fireworks. To add injury to insult when we went back down below they were showing the fireworks show that looked beautiful. And there were 4 or 5 barges doing the fireworks show and it was a spectacular display with wonderful coordinating music. Then the captain speeded out of there and we were home in no time. The only thing I could think of to explain this so very disappointing show was that the captain positioned us just so - so that he could be the first boat out of there. I should have stayed home and watched it on tv.

*Infants ride free, but need a ticket. Please add them to your reservation if needed.*

Fall Foliage Cruises

September 23, 2021 by Skyline Cruises

Autumn leaf peeping

Fall means football, bonfires, chilly nights, and our favorite… Fall foliage! You do not want to miss your opportunity this year to sail with us and see all that this glorious season has to offer! Fall foliage is truly breathtaking and offers the perfect backdrop for family photos! The Long Island Sound is stunning this time of year, so there is no better time than now to come sail with us! So hop aboard our three-deck luxury yacht the Skyline Princess and experience the magic of the season!

Autumn and Skyline

It’s a beautiful thing to watch summer fade into fall, especially in New York City, Long Island, Westchester, and Connecticut. Here at Skyline Cruises, we are happy to give you a front-row seat aboard one of our lunch or dinner cruises . No matter if you are looking to cruise the East River from our home port at the World’s Fair Marina in Flushing, Queens, or if you’re interested in a lighthouse and mansion tour of the Long Island Sound, we are proud to offer public and chartered cruises to make it an autumn to remember!

Lighthouse and New York City Skyline Cruises

The beautiful colors of fall in Western Long Island Sound along the north shore of Long Island as far as Port Washington complement the historic lighthouses and other memorable sights that you will see. Our lighthouse cruises pass by the Execution Rocks, Sand Point, and Stepping Stones lighthouses. Other landmarks you will see include Fort Schuyler, Fort Totten, The Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy, the Throgs Neck and Whitestone Bridges, as well as the mansions of Long Island’s Gatsby-Era Gold Coast.

Despite being called the Concrete Jungle, New York City does have plenty of colors mixed in, especially in the fall. Once you depart from Flushing, you will head past Randall’s Island Park and onto the East River. You’ll pass Gracie Mansion, the official residence of New York City’s mayor. As you head down the river some more, you’ll pass the skyscrapers of Midtown and a gorgeous tree-lined promenade that adjoins the FDR Drive as well as Roosevelt Island’s Four Freedom’s Park. Once the Skyline Princess reaches the tip of Manhattan, you will see some of the most beautiful urban scenery in the world: Manhattan’s Battery Park, Governor’s Island, Ellis Island, and of course, Lady Liberty framed by a beautiful autumn day!

Celebrate with Skyline

No matter the reason, Skyline Cruises can make any occasion spectacular. Whether it’s date night, a special event like a birthday or anniversary, or even a wedding , we are proud to be one of the most unique waterfront venues around! We offer a full range of event options from a cocktail-style party to a full banquet. Our food is some of the best in New York Harbor and it is prepared fresh right in our ship’s galley. Our all-weather rooftop deck, the Skylight deck, can be fully enclosed or left open and is the perfect spot for a DJ with room to dance the evening away and enjoy the sights! Don’t let the season get away from you! For more information on our fall foliage cruises, or to book a public or private cruise, contact us today !

The best fall foliage cruises in the U.S.

From dedicated voyages to afternoons on the water, the best fall foliage cruises in America offer up a delightful way to peep the changing leaves

Lauren Dana

Fall is here, which means apple-picking opportunities abound, pumpkin spice lattes are officially back in season and wrapping yourself in a scarf large enough to double as a blanket is acceptable. But perhaps the best part of the season is the vibrant foliage that comes with it. All across the country, leaves transform color (think burnt reds, rusty oranges, brilliant coppers and bright yellows). The best way to experience the changing of the seasons is from out on the water, offering expansive views of the fall hues plus the surrounding landscapes, be it tree-lined mountains, valleys, or stunning stretches of coast. Short hours-long sailings in major cities like Boston and New York to longer 12-day voyages that cross into Canada, here are the best fall foliage cruises to book this season.

Adams, both of which are flooded with vibrant foliage come September and October, right from the bow of the ship. The spectacular ports of call—Astoria, OR (where travelers can savor local beers and oysters while catching a glimpse of the awe-inspiring Cape Disappointment); Walla Walla, WA (where wine tasting opps abound and harvest season is in full swing ); and Clarkston, WA (where you can admire Hells Canyon, North America’s deepest river gorge)—are best explored on foot, kayak, Zodiac or jet boat. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Charles Riverboat Company (@charlesriverboatcompany)

Searching for some of the best fall activities in Boston ? Head out on the water and set sail on a 90-minute ride with the Charles Riverboat Company along the Charles River. These foliage-themed cruises offer some of Boston and Cambridge's best (read: most Instagrammable) views. With tickets from $30 per adult, this short but scenic sailing is the most wallet-friendly option on our list. And, since it’s just an hour and a half long, you’ll be back long before dinnertime (may we suggest booking a table at one of Boston’s best new restaurants to cap off the fun-filled day?). This cruise is an excellent option for those tight on time but still craving some fall fun—all without having to leave the city.

These destinations feature some of North America's best fall foliage views, thanks to their vast landscapes. While on board, sit back, relax, and take in the breathtaking scenery from the comfort of your stateroom balcony.

Oceania Cruises’ aptly named Autumn in Canada & New England itinerary is perfect for passengers eager to catch a glimpse of the region’s changing leaves over the course of 11 days. Upon embarkation from New York, you’ll travel to Newport before cruising the Cape Cod Canal. After, the ship makes its way to Portland, where cruisers can tour Bar Harbor & Acadia National Park. Then it’s off to Canada to visit New Brunswick (Saint John) Nova Scotia (Shelbourne and Sydney, where, in the later, cruisers can take a shore excursion to Cape Breton Island to admire some of North America’s most vibrant foliage coupled with sweeping ocean vistas). The trip's final leg includes Newfoundland (Corner Brook, which features orange, yellow, and bright red-hued leaves in peak season) and Quebec (Saguenay and Quebec City).

City Experiences’ New York Fall Foliage Lunch Cruise

6.  City Experiences’ New York Fall Foliage Lunch Cruise

City Experiences’ New York Fall Foliage Lunch Cruise is among the best fall day trips from New York City . The three-hour cruise, which takes place on October 21, 2023, sails roundtrip from Manhattan’s Chelsea Piers and cruises up the Hudson River. Along the scenic route, passengers can sip cider and savor pumpkin pie while surrounded by seasonal décor, adding to the festive fall vibes. For the best leaf-peeping views, head up to the open-air rooftop lounge— and prepare to be dazzled by the kaleidoscope of autumnal hues. Additional onboard highlights include a buffet lunch, live DJ entertainment and a selection of creative cocktails (additional cost). Oh, and did we mention tickets start at under $100 apiece?

Norwegian Cruise Line’s Canada & New England: Newport & Portland

7.  Norwegian Cruise Line’s Canada & New England: Newport & Portland

Embark on a fantastic foliage-filled journey through New England and Canada aboard this epic itinerary from Norwegian Cruise Line. The seven-day voyage—which has fares as low as $429 per person—conveniently sails roundtrip from New York aboard the family-friendly Norwegian Escape, stopping in three other American ports (Newport, Portland and Bar Harbor). From there, the ship sails to Canada (Saint John and Halifax) before returning to The Big Apple. Throughout the weeklong sailing, passengers will have the incredible opportunity to admire the colorful leaves while heading out on bucket-list-worthy excursions like whale-watching and hiking; otherwise, consider more laid-back albeit equally fun activities like shopping or attending an authentic New England lobster bake.

8.  Circle Line’s Hudson River Fall Foliage Cruise

Circle Line’s Hudson River Fall Foliage Cruise is one of the best things to do in NYC this fall . The four-hour cruise—which Circle Line dubbed “New York's floating Oktoberfest”—sails 40 miles up the Hudson River. For the sailing, passengers can enjoy live music and Oktoberfest-themed food like Bavarian pretzels, bratwursts, and pork schnitzel while sipping on German brews. Take in the Instagram-worthy foliage—and breathe in the crisp fall air—from one of the expansive outdoor decks. Cruisers may even spot a bald eagle amongst the colorful trees and mountain landscapes if they're lucky.

Crystal’s New York to Quebec City

9.  Crystal’s New York to Quebec City

Enjoy a New York to Quebec City sailing with luxury cruise line Crystal, which recently relaunched just a few months earlier. This specific eight-night voyage takes place onboard the revamped Crystal Serenity , which calls on Newport, Boston, Halifax (where it will stay overnight), Sydney and Quebec City (where it will also remain overnight before disembarking the following day), In between the Sydney and Quebec City port stops, Serenity will cruise along the tree-lined St. Lawrence River, where the turning of the leaves will be on full display. While the ports of call alone are reason enough to book this voyage, you should also consider that all staterooms have ocean views. Other ship amenities include a fine-dining restaurant helmed by Nobu (yes, that Nobu), a tranquil spa and chic common areas where cruisers can leaf-peep and sip cocktails in style.

10.  Classic Harbor Line’s Fall Foliage Brunch Cruise

New Yorkers looking for a romantic way to experience the surrounding region’s fall foliage can —and certainly should! —book the Classic Harbor Line Fall Foliage Brunch Cruise. The two-and-a-half-hour sailing takes place aboard an elegant ‘20s-style yacht (either one of two aptly named vessels, the Manhattan or Manhattan II ), making it one of the most glamorous ways to go leaf-peeping. As part of the ticket price, cruisers will enjoy a three-course prix fixe brunch—served at their own private table—and, as a bonus, one complimentary Bloody Mary, mimosa, beer, wine or glass of bubbly. (Cheers!) Lastly, while indoor and outdoor seating is available, keep in mind that it is assigned.

Fall foliage cruise

Took the boat to Cold Spring for fall foliage cruise and visit to this small town. Lots of sightseeing, antiques and friendly locals. Fun time to view the fall colors.

Took ferry for an overnight visit to NJ. What a pleasant, well-appointed vessel. Punctual, clean. Was awed by the views of Manhattan.

I love Sea Streak ferry. So comfortable and easy. The ride is a pleasure as you approach the beautiful skyline of New York. I can live at the beach and still work in the city without the horror of commuting. Guests who visit love the trip to the city and think of it as part of their vacation experience.

Our family valet parked ($25) in New Bedford and jumped on the early ferry to MV. Excellent on time service and fun ride with kids. No cars on this route. The upstairs seating area was quiet and cozy. I only wish the cute little bar had more healthy food options. But that's super picky for a really nice ride. We would absolutely use this service again. Be on time though!

On a return trip from the Jersey Shore (Belmar) I took a train to Little Silver and then a LYFT to the ferry. Nice ride through the mansions of Rumson to the boat for only $20 (app 7-9 miles). The sea streak has got to be the best mode of transport between NYC and the neck of the woods I was in. Spectacular views of NYC with all its resplendent buildings (skyline). I didn't want to get off the boat!

45 minutes to NYC, pass by the Statue of Liberty and other key points. There is an air conditioned section with comfortable seats, along with upstairs outdoor seating. Drops yoi off at 35th street and Wall street. Great Photo OPS!!!
