How to Apply for a Saudi e-Visa if you Live in Kuwait

Last week Saudi Arabia announced that any GCC resident can now apply for an tourism eVisa as long as you meet some basic requirements. I got in touch with their eVisa team for more information and here is everything you need to know.

To apply for an E-Visa you need to do it through the following website: ⁦‪ visa.mofa.gov.sa/Account/Loginindividuals

Once you visit that link click on the letter “E” on the top left to go to the English page. Then on the right column under “Login Of Individual Visitors To Saudi Arabia” click on Register to create an account.

After creating an account log in and then click on “Add A New Application” on the right side. Click Agree a couple of time and you’ll eventually reach the Visa application form. Make sure for “Visa Type” you select Tourism and then under “Saudi Mission in” you select “Kuwait”.

Other than that it should be fairly simple. There are some requirements which are:

• Your residency visa has to be valid of at least 3 months
• Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months
• Resident’s occupation should be among the eligible occupations listed on the portal (more on that below)
• For those under the age of 18, one of the parents must apply first and must be present with them
• First-degree relatives (Parents, husband, wife, and children) can get the visa online, as long as they are coming together with the one holding the residency

‎Regarding the resident’s occupation, it’s too long a list to share but everything I thought of seems to be listed including salesman, waiter or call center operator. So it’s not just managerial positions. The only occupation I couldn’t find was “Driver” but even that might possibly be listed under a different name.

Here are some visa details they also shared with me:

• Cost is 300SAR along with health insurance fees
• Multiple or single entry, this is not an option for the applicant, authorities (MOFA) will decide on a case by case basis
• Validity of 1 year for the multiple entries, and 3 months for the single entry
• Length of stay is 90 days for the multiple entry, and 30 days for the single entry
• The new regulation took effect from the 1st of September 2022
• You will receive the visa within 48 hours at the registered email
• You can use the tourist visa to perform Umrah, but not during the Hajj season

This visa is also valid for land, port or air entry.

Finally, they also shared the below requirements for entering Saudi as a tourist:

• The tourist visa includes medical insurance covering infection with the Coronavirus
• If you are going to drive, you must hold a valid international driving license or a license issued from a GCC country, and the car must have insurance. Insurance can be done at the border on the Saudi side. For more information on traveling by car check out my previous guide here.

Saudi tourism ministry is now pushing so aggressively to attract more visitors. Yesterday while I opened my LinkedIn profile an automated message box popped with text saying, ‘If you are in GCC you can apply for e-visa here”, with a link. I mentioned in my post the only position I tried and couldn’t find listed was the driver position. So my guess is he can’t unless the position is listed under a different occupation name.

I am a Pakistani and I travelled this Thursday to Saudi Arabia to check how things work at the border. I applied for the visa and as soon as the payment was done i received the email with my visa attached. so u can get visa in less than 1minute after successful payment. Border was a smooth transit, but as you know from all the dealings with ministerial staff, they can be sometimes not helpful and make you find offices for the transit work. but never the less v got the transit done for Kuwait and Saudi border combined in an hour. on our way back we cleared the border in like 15-20 minutes without any hurdle. But to mention the staff at the saudi border side asked us why we came soo early (which in my opinion is not his matter) and the guy accompanying him chatted with him that “why have they started this online visa thing” in a derogatory way. Other than this it was a smooth transit and its like getting a Schengen visa for GCC. just to mention you can get visa with kuwait mobile id and you can travel with that aswell.

That’s strange. I am an Indian and i travelled on Thursday morning at 4 am from nuwaiseeb. And it was such a pleasant experience. I went to jubail and then to Bahrain and returned back on saturday.

Basically the guy asked me why did we went on Thursday 7pm and returned Friday 6am.

Just head to the causeway. Pay the toll. Fees for visa and insurance and head on in.

I got the car insured at the border for 3 months period that is 400+15%VAT= 460 SAR Visa fee = 115$ (if you get the cheapest insurance) roughly around 36Kd No fee at the Border.

The question of how many countries did you travel in last 5 years and what dates seems really daunting to fill out.

Just fill in your recent travels if any within past 5 years. Not every single travel info has to be provided. I think it’s mostly for them to evaluate your application.

I hold a US visa so I am eligible for a visa-on-arrival into the Kingdom, but turns out, visa-on-arrivals are only issued at the airports. So, if you’re planning to get on a road trip to the KSA and are planning to avail the VoA, then no, you’ll have to get the Saudi e-visa like the others.

Your wrong. I met a guy with the exact situation. U need a us visa along with atleast 1 entry into the us. You need to go to immigrations office before the passport control gate and you’ll get the visa on arrival there.

We have a valid Saudi eVisa and traveled multiple times and still has a validity of 10 months. The passport got renewed due to some change and now we have a new passport and the old passport is canceled. Can we travel on the eVisa with the new passport carrying the old passport as a reference? or do we need to apply for a new Saudi eVisa? No information is available online and no option to change the passport number, we contacted customer service and they just replied that they only help with technical problems. I contacted visitsaudi call center by email and phone and I got a response that I need to carry the old passport with me whenever I wish to travel and the visa is still valid and no need to apply for a new visa. That’s some good news.

Can anyone confirm that it is possible to drive through the Nuwaiseeb border to Saudi with an e-Visa? Previously, eVisas were only allowed to enter through airports from Kuwait.

Hi i apply for vist visa online for my family and visa application rejected now whom i can approach and what can be done. I’m GCC residence holder..

my 1 year saudi visit visa was expiring on 10th of this month. so, i applied for new visit visa on 8th of this month and my new visa was approved and i immediately receieved my new visa in my email. with my new visa, i drove my car to saudi border (al-khafji). to my surprise, saudi immigration informed me that my new visa is still not updated in the system. they told me that i should have applied for new visa after the expiry of my old visa. since, i applied for new visa before the expiry of the old visa, saudi immigration informed that my new visa is still not updated in the system. they informed me that i should visit saudi embassy in kuwait in person to update my new visa. hence, i have to come back to kuwait. can anyone suggest me how to get my new visa updated in the system. should i visit saudi embassy, kuwait in person or can i call the embassy to update. anyone who has had such experience, please advise me

Steps To Apply For A Saudi Visa Online In Kuwait

In order to facilitate a quicker and easier entry process, the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Tourism has issued a new Ministerial Decree.

Under new laws, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) citizens will soon be able to apply for an eVisa via Visit Saudi's online portal. Additionally, citizens of the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union may apply for visas on arrival. In order to receive a visa on arrival, holders of a valid tourist or business visa from the UK, US, or Schengen agreement nation must have entered the country at least once before. The eVisa will grant visitors the right to stay for up to 90 days for a period of one year, with multiple entries.

This includes only travel-related activities such as Umrah (outside of Haj season) and eliminates other activities like studying etc. Also, travelers will no longer need to stop by the embassy before entering Saudi Arabia, making travel easier.

According to Saudi Arabia's Minister of Tourism, Ahmed Al-Khateeb: "The future of the travel and tourism industry is centered on improving the visitor experience. Saudi Arabia is enticing more and more tourists from all over the world by leveraging digital innovation and improving the traveler experience."

The visa is available to citizens of 48 countries, including China, Singapore, Australia, South Korea, the United States, Canada, and Switzerland. However, neither India nor Pakistan are included in the list of nations that may apply for an eVisa.

Things to Keep in Mind When Applying for Saudi Tourist Visa: 

- Applicants must be at least 18 years old to apply for an eVisa. 

- Travelers under the age of 18 cannot use the service. "You accept these terms on behalf of any minors for whom you will be using the service, and you warrant that you are authorized to do so. You may not use the service if you lack such authorization "as stated in the Saudi Ministry of Tourism's postings.

- Passport holders from allowed countries must possess a passport valid for at least six months.

- An eVisa will be issued by email as soon as the application has been approved.

- Candidates who are rejected will receive an email notification.

- The applicant cannot withdraw or ask for a refund of an eVisa application once it has been submitted.

- Payment of an application fee does not guarantee an eVisa's approval.

- Refunds will not be provided to unsuccessful applicants (for whatever reason).

- Applications with inaccurate or deceptive information will be disregarded.

- In the eVisa application process, the cost of the service is disclosed only when the payment is made.

- Application fees plus VAT at the current rate must be paid by the applicant.

- Upon issuance, the eVisa will be valid for a year.

- The visa is valid for numerous entries unless otherwise specified on the specific eVisa.

- eVisas are valid for stays up to three months in length.

- It is not possible to renew an eVisa that has already been issued.

- Applicants are required to reapply and pay the application fee if their eVisa expires before entering KSA.

- E-Visas are not considered work visas since they can only be used to travel or to perform Umrah.

- An applicant must be able to sustain oneself (and any dependents) during the visit.

Steps To Apply For A Saudi Visa Online:   

Step 1:   Visit the website https://visa.visitsaudi.com/ . 

Step 2:  Click on Apply Now https://visa.visitsaudi.com/Registration/Verify

Select Passport Type - Diplomatic Passport, Special Passport, Regular Passport. As most of us hold regular passports, select a regular passport. 

Country of Nationality - Your Country

Captcha Code - Enter captcha code

Click next to continue

Step 3:  Enter your Personal Details

You will be asked to enter your first name, last name, mobile number, e-mail, confirmation email, a secret question and answer, and a password. Once you have entered that information, you will be able to register.

Step 4: You will receive a confirmation email from [email protected]. Open your email and click on "Click Here". Your account will be activated within 24 hours.

Step 5: Sign in with your email address and password on  Saudi eVisa | The Official website for Tourist Visa to Saudi Arabia (visitsaudi.com)  .

When you have entered your username and password, you will need to click on the send verification code button. You will receive a verification code by email. Enter that code and you will be successfully logged in.

Step 6: Apply for a Saudi visa individually or Group.

- If you are applying on behalf of someone else, click yes or no.

For medical insurance you will get an application no on top. Medical insurance covers only emergency cases. All of the companies are approved and certified in Saudi Arabia. You can choose any of the insurance you want.  Charges for Medical Insurance Would Cost  180 SAR

In addition, I pledge to abide by the laws and rules of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and respect the customs and Islamic traditions of its people during my stay. GCC residents and Saudi Iqama holders of some nationalities can apply for Kuwait e-visa online without visiting their embassy or consulate. The on-arrival visa is no more available to GCC residents without any regard to the Iqama profession.

Requirements

GCC residents and Saudi Iqama holders need the following to apply for a Kuwait e-visa;

• Passport with a minimum validity of 6 months.
• Iqama or GCC card is valid for at least 6 months.
• Birth Certificate.
• A  credit or debit card to pay the visa fee.
• Kuwait Visa Fee: $59.
• You can apply a max of 90 days before the travel date.
• The purpose of the visit must be  tourism only.
• The applicant has no criminal history in the GCC states.

Citizens from 120 countries (given below) can apply for an online Kuwait visa if they hold a valid GCC residence permit or Iqama. In order to apply;

• Open: https://application.kuwaitvisa.com/application/
• Enter your passport details.
• Do you have a GCC residency permit? YES .
• Select the GCC country. 

On the next screen enter;

• Intended Date of Entry to Kuwait.
• Email address.
• Mobile Number.
• Pay the fee of $59 to apply for the Visa.
• Attach the required documents.
• Apply for a Visa.

You will receive the visa in your email within 1-2 working days.

Kuwait Visa Requirements for Saudi Residents

Foreign nationals living as residents of Saudi Arabia are eligible to apply for a Kuwait eVisa. In order to do this, they must fulfill certain requirements to enter the country.

There are a number of different types of Kuwait visas available , including the tourist e-Visa, the visit visa, the residence visa, and the transit visa. The easiest way to obtain a Kuwait visa from Saudi Arabia is by applying online for the Kuwait tourist e-Visa .

The online application for the Kuwait eVisa is quick and simple to complete and eliminates the need to go to a Kuwaiti embassy or consulate.

The Kuwait online visa was implemented in 2016. Citizens of a select list of countries are eligible to apply, as can residents of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries , such as Saudi Arabia.

Any person who meets the Kuwait e-Visa requirements can apply for this electronic visa . Travelers that are eligible for the e-Visa for Kuwait simply need to gather the necessary documents and fill out the online application form with their personal details , passport data, travel plans, and must also provide a valid email address.

Who Can Apply for a Kuwait e-Visa from Saudi Arabia?

In order to successfully apply, travelers must meet the Kuwait e-Visa requirements . Firstly, the applicant must be eligible to apply .

All official residents of Gulf Cooperation Council member states may apply, regardless of nationality, as long as they work in certain professions. The GCC is made up of the following countries:

• Saudi Arabia
• The United Arab Emirates

All foreign nationals living in Saudi Arabia who have official residency for over 6 months are therefore eligible to apply online for the Kuwait eVisa.

This extends to citizens of countries that are not normally eligible for the eVisa .

For example, nationals of the following sovereign states living outside the GCC area must apply for a consular visa to visit Kuwait, but those who live in Saudi Arabia may apply for the eVisa as residents :

• Bosnia and Herzegovina
• Burkina Faso
• Central African Rep
• Cook Islands
• El Salvador
• Equatorial Guinea
• French Guiana
• Guinea-Bissau
• Philippines
• Puerto Rico
• Russian Federation
• S. V.and the Grenadines
• Saint Helena
• Saint Lucia
• Sierra Leone
• South Africa
• Trinidad and Tobago
• Turkmenistan

Additionally, all travelers from the following countries can apply for the eVisa for Kuwait, regardless of where they live:

• Czech Republic
• Liechtenstein
• Netherlands
• New Zealand
• Republic of Cyprus
• South Korea
• Switzerland
• United Kingdom
• United States
• Vatican City

Citizens of Saudi Arabia and other GCC countries cannot apply for an electronic visa or any other visa for Kuwait because they do not need one .

GCC citizens are visa-exempt from visiting Kuwait and may enter the country using their national ID cards only.

Foreign nationals that live in Saudi Arabia

According to UN statistics, Saudi Arabia is home to over 13 million immigrants . A large proportion of these foreign residents come from countries on the Indian subcontinent.

The largest group of immigrants to Saudi Arabia are those from India (over 4 million). Ex-patriates from Pakistan and Bangladesh also number in the millions.

As residents of Saudi Arabia (a member of the Gulf Cooperation Council), these individuals are eligible to apply for an eVisa for Kuwait.

The applicant must have the following to meet the requirements for the Kuwait online visa :

• A valid GCC card
• Residency in Saudi Arabia exceeding 6 months
• A valid passport with at least 6 months’ validity and at least one blank page
• One of the professions listed below

Professions required according to the GCC residency

Foreign nationals with residency in Saudi Arabia are eligible to apply for the Kuwait e-Visa only if their profession is one of the following or if they are a University graduate:

• Businessman
• Computer programmer
• Judge or member of public prosecution
• Owner, manager, or representative of commercial companies and establishments
• Press, journalist, or other member of media staff
• System analyst
• University lecturer or teacher

Documents Required to apply for a visa for Kuwait from the Saudi Arabia

Foreign residents of Saudi Arabia must have a number of items to hand in order to complete their online application for a Kuwait eVisa. In order to receive an approved eVisa, the following must be provided :

• GCC residence permit with a minimum of 6 months’ validity
• Valid passport that will be valid for at least 6 months
• Current email address
• Debit or credit card

On average, the e-Visa for Kuwait takes about 3 business days to process , but it may occasionally take longer. Applicants are advised to apply with plenty of time before their intended date of entry.

The working week in Kuwait is Sunday to Thursday . Friday is not considered a business day.

Saudi Arabia has broadened its electronic visa (e-visa) accessibility to include citizens from three new countries.

The citizens of these countries now have the flexibility to apply for their visas online or acquire them upon arrival at Saudi entry points. This expansion increases the total number of eligible countries to 66. The new countries are Barbados, the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, and Grenada.

In addition to citizens from the newly included countries, the tourist visa has been extended to residents of the US, the UK, and the EU, as well as visit visa holders from the US, UK, and the Schengen area.

Furthermore, residents of GCC countries are eligible for the visa, facilitating various travel purposes such as tourism, Umrah pilgrimage, visiting family and friends, and participating in a range of events, exhibitions, and conferences.

Saudi Arabia has also introduced transit visas for travellers on Saudia and flynas airlines, allowing a 96-hour stay in the Kingdom before continuing their journey.

The Ministry of Tourism introduced the visit visa in September 2019 as part of a broader initiative to showcase Saudi Arabia’s rich tourist offerings, engage visitors in cultural experiences and promote international interaction.

GCC Unified Visa Named 'GCC Grand Tours' to Launch This Year

A new unified tourism visa for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, named "GCC Grand Tours," is set to launch later this year. The visa will allow travelers to visit all six GCC countries, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, under one visa.

Facilitating Travel in the GCC

The visa aims to make travel across the GCC region easier and more affordable, increasing tourism throughout the region. Tourists using the visa will be able to spend more than 30 days exploring multiple destinations within the six countries.

Expected Launch by Year - End

DUBAI : The widely-discussed GCC unified tourist visa will be launched by the end of the year, top officials speaking at the Arabian Travel Market said.

The Schengen-style visa named as ‘GCC Grand Tours’ will allow travellers to visit Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Oman and Kuwait and spend more than 30 days in the region. “In a significant move aimed at simplifying travel logistics and fostering tourism, the Gulf Cooperation Council has given the green light to a unified tourist visa that will allow travellers to visit all six countries,” said UAE Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri.

Meanwhile, Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, chairman of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Authority (SCTDA), said the new visa system is expected to be ready this year. “By the end of this year, the whole system will be in place. Many people are working on it tirelessly to make it happen in the best possible way,“ he noted.

The GCC Unified Tourist Visa was cited as a key growth driver for the region’s travel sector. Panellists taking part at the ATM said that the planned unified visa would allow member nations to present the GCC as a connected destination, boosting accessibility and driving KPIs such as length of stay, average spend and employment.
