Far from holy, Lamb of God are a metal band from Virginia, US. They are recognized as being part of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal movement.

The groove-metallers formed in 1994, under the name Burn the Priest. The band decided to change their name in late 1999 to avoid being mistaken for a satanic metal band - wise move! After several line-up changes, the band currently comprises of Randy Blythe (vocals), Mark Morton (guitar), Willie Adler (guitar), John Campbell (bass) and Chris Adler (drums). The band have been compared to Pantera, Testament and described as “the leaders of the pack” of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal Movement which includes bands such as Biohazard, Slipknot and Machine Head. Bassist John Campbell has described the band as “a punk band that plays heavy metal”.

In 2000, Lamb of God released their first album under their new name, entitled “New American Gospel”, which was met with positive reviews. Following in 2003 was “As the Palaces Burn”, which was swiftly followed in 2004 by “Ashes of the Wake”, now under new record label Epic Records. It was their highest grossing album up to that point, selling over 35,000 copies in its first week and debuting at number 27 on the Billboard 200 in the US. “Laid to Rest” is the most well-known song from the album, due in part to its appearance in the videogame “Guitar Hero 2” as a playable track.

Lamb of God released their fifth album “Sacrament” in August 2006, which was met with rave reviews from critics and debuted at number eight on the Billboard 200. The band appeared on several major tours in support of the album, including “The Unholy Alliance” tour with Slayer, Mastodon and Children of Bodom, a co-headline tour with Killswitch Engage, Soilwork and DevilDriver and Gigantour, supporting Megadeth. They also played the main stage at Ozzfest and at Download Festival. In 2009, the band released their sixth album “Wrath” under yet another new record label, Roadrunner Records. The album reached number two on the Billboard 200. During this time, the band were touring the world as first support to Metallica.

Songs by Lamb of God have frequently appeared in films and videogames, including “Hit the Wall” which was featured in the Iron Man 2 and Splatterhouse games. “Walk with Me in Hell” is featured on the soundtrack for the film Saw III. The band has been nominated for two Grammy Awards for Best Metal Performance, the first in 2010 when they lost out to Judas Priest and again in 2011, losing this time to Iron Maiden.

The band released their seventh album “Resolution” in 2012 and also released a documentary entitled “As The Palaces Burn” which were both met with positive reviews.

Live reviews

If an award was to be given to a band who goes by a title that best misrepresents their music it would be Lamb of God. Perhaps one might think the band’s former name, Burn the Priest, might be much more suiting, but Lamb of God is just the type of name a band like this would choose, trying to provoke the kind of people that are most likely to condemn their music.

Lamb of God is not as quiet or innocent as their name implies, but the high energy, head-banging music they produce is sure to incite thrills. At a Lamb of God concert you can expect to see stacks of massive guitar amps that will blow you away with the loud, enthralling metal music that they are so adept at playing. Lamb of God is also quite captivating to see live with their members having appropriately long hair, swaying in every which direction as they ferociously bang their heads to the heavy metal music they are performing. Lead singer, Randy Blythe, has complete control of the stage running all over the place like a maniac, dumping water bottles on his head, and fiercely barking out the lyrics of his songs.

Lamb of God has a huge, diehard fan base that are just as uproarious as the band at their live shows forming large mosh pits, signaling the salute of rock and roll, and head banging to every song. Critics and fellow musicians are also fond of Lamb of God, which can be conveyed through the band’s multiple grammy nominations and appearances as opening acts for the likes of Slayer, Metallica, and Ozzy Osbourne. Lamb of God is sure to leave an impression on their fans whether it be through their dueling guitarists shredding fast and heavy riffs or the sound and pressure of the double bass drum pounding away the heavy forces of doom.

Lamb of God are a heavy metal rock band from Virginia in the United States. The band has a massive cult following, particularly as they were part of the massive New Wave of American Heavy Metal Movement. You might be mistaken for thinking that a band self titled as Lamb of God would be a quiet., meek and calm group. You would be wrong. The deceitful name just adds to the brilliance of the band. Lamb of God is a high energy, high impact, head banging, guitar bashing band that will blow you away with their sound. Randy Blythe, the lead singer, is appropriately crazy and spent much of the show running around the stage, swinging his hair and banging his head. His voice is powerful and confident and he got the whole crowd screaming along with him as he sung the band’s best known hits. The atmosphere at the venue was suitably banging, as Lamb of God’s fans were all as crazy as the band. They cheered and screamed to the heavy guitar riffs, shouted along to the lyrics and danced madly in mosh pit fashion. Highlights of the night included the aggressive ‘Walk with me in Hell’, ‘Red Neck’, ‘Black Label’ and ‘Set to Fail’, which had the whole crowd fist pumping the air.

Lamb of God, the American groove metal heads with a sanctimonious band name and a hellish live show. Since their incarnation in 1994, the band has been a staple addition to many major metal festival lineups and their intense touring schedule has allowed them to work and develop a truly epic live performance.

Receiving more commercial success with their latest releases, a lot of the setlist is made of material taken from 'Wrath' and 'Resolution'. The first two singles taken from the latter kick off proceedings in Birmingham and the crowd instantly begin head banging as the band attempt to break every noise pollution law in the moderate O2 Academy.

There is a huge emphasis on making sure the crowd are engaged as lead singer Randy Blythe commands the audience to raise their hands and punch along to the drum intro of 'Set to Fail' a personal highlight in a career spanning set. It was also great to see an aggressive airing of early single 'Walk With Me In Hell'. A thrashing rendition of 'Red Neck' and 'Black Label' rounded off proceedings well and the crowd continued to mosh long after the band had taken their final bow.

What can I say that hasn't already been said about this band. I'm 50 years old and all they recently started attending their concerts and wish I had started doing it a lot earlier in life. Thankfully my daughter is a huge fan and had taking me their last three shows in Florida. They really put on a high-energy show last night at the amphitheater in Tampa. The crowd was berserk more so than the headliner. Guitarist Willie Adler really seemed to be enjoying himself and great interaction with the crowd. There was an unfortunate injury in the crowd and the band stop playing to allow assistance by EMS personnel. Great group don't miss them if they come your way they are solid and will punch you right in the face throughout their whole show.

It was BADASS!!!! We had a frontline spot to the (my)left of the stage...within feet of the bands. C.O.C. rocked, and Clutch was GD amazing! It was my first time seeing either of those guys...but my 2nd time seeing LAMB OF GOD live, and.....HOLY SHIT!!!!! FIRE! THEY WERE ON FUC*IN FIYA!!!! Their stage performance is raw, in your face, and completely interactive! They leave out all the shitty distracting stage acts/stunts/bullshit. The sound was set to perfection. Couldn't have had a better time...well, maybe if I would've been able to catch the fuggin pick Willie threw at me! I got robbed on that! haha

Can't wait to see them again. L.O.G. IS ONE OF THE BEST HEADLINERS I'VE EVER SEEN!!!

///oh...my nipples just got hard///

Lame Of God cancellex the show... Lots of us drove a long way just to see a small piece of paper that said the gig was cancelled... "security concerns" or something... they did it for the fans... Bullshit!!! How come COB, Sylosis, Slayer, Carcass, Obituary, Motorhead, Arch Enemy still play shows this days?! Hell, even Madonna didn't cancel her shows!!! I guess she's more metal and has more balls than Lame Of God...

Another phenomenal show put on by Lamb of God last night at Toyota Pavilion in Irving, TX. The set-list was a perfect spread across their current albums. They kept the crowd amped and gave due to their fellow headliners. This was my 4th and favorite time seeing this band. They continue to push limits and put on a better production with every tour. I will be keeping an eye out for their next tour date.

donnie-constantine’s profile image

Amazing performance, they were not only very talented but they actually stopped the show to make sure someone got help when they were hurt which shows how much they care about their fans and they even payed their respects to Behemoth, Anthrax, Testament, and Slayer who were having their final tour,so I have much respect for Lamb of God

MetaLifeWins’s profile image

Always an awesome show. Randy's energy onstage never disappoints, and John, Mark, Willie, and Chris are phenomenal musicians. Not really much else I can say. If you love metal, make it to a LoG show. This was my fourth time seeing them, and it will certainly not be my last.

nate-nefarious’s profile image

It was a great show. Singer shown to the public all the power of his voice with non stop energy. It was very loud I think the premises are not very acoustic designed for this kind of music. Distortion and echoes messed the music and delivered a non very pleasant experience.

About Lamb of God

For millions of headbangers,  Lamb Of God  are simply the most important contemporary metal band in the world,”  Guitar World  observed.  Lamb Of God  grew from basement shows and grimy DIY venues to arena headliners. Over the course of their career, the Richmond, Virginia-based band earned a reverence akin to musical forefathers (and road companions) Metallica, Slayer, and Megadeth. Timeless songs like “Laid to Rest,” “Redneck,” “Walk with Me in Hell,” and “Now You’ve Got Something to Die For” became anthems in the heavy metal songbook. They shoved heavy metal into the new millennium with  New American Gospel  (2000).  As the Palaces Burn  (2003) joined  Rolling Stone’s  Top 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time.  Ashes of the Wake  (2004) was the first  Lamb Of Gold  album certified gold by the RIAA, a feat once all but impossible for a contemporary extreme metal band.    Sacrament  (2006),   Revolver’s  Album of the Year, went gold as well. The raw and organic malice of  Wrath  (2009) began the band’s enduring relationship with Wilbur. Both the diverse  Resolution  (2012) and the explosive  VII: Sturm und Drang  (2015) debuted in the Top 5 of the  Billboard 200 . The 2020 self-titled set, their first new material in five years, added instant classics “Memento Mori” and “Resurrection Man” to the repertoire, alongside eight more monster tracks.  Revolver ,  Metal Hammer , and  Loudwire  included  Lamb Of God  on their year-end Best Albums lists. The momentum continues with   Omens , the band’s most aggressive and ambitious album yet.

Lamb of God  and  Sixthman , creators of unforgettable festivals on sand and at sea for more than two decades, also recently announced the first-ever  Headbangers Boat , sailing October 31 – November 4, 2023 from Miami, Florida to Nassau, Bahamas aboard the Norwegian Pearl. Cabins go on sale on Friday, November 11 at 7pm GMT (2pm EST).

Lamb of God Headbangers Boat  will feature live music from sun-up to sundown, across several stages and settings throughout the ship, including two unique shows from Lamb of God, featuring a complete performance of their 2004 landmark third album,  Ashes of the Wake , in its entirety. The 5x GRAMMY® Award-nominated band will further honour heavy metal’s past, present, and future by curating a spectacular selection of special guests, including such hard rock icons as Mastodon , Hatebreed ,  GWAR ,  Shadows Fall ,  God Forbid ,  Fit For An Autopsy,  and Lamb of God’s  Mark Morton  (Solo Band), with special guest hosts  Jose Mangin  and  Riki Rachtman ,  Jamey Jasta ’s  The Jasta Show , and more to be announced.

In addition, the fully immersive schedule of events will see members of Lamb of God hosting an array of activities including a Q&A conversation and photography show with vocalist Randy Blythe, a drum-off with drummer Art Cruz, and casino tournament with bassist John Campbell. All guests will receive a signed Lamb of God commemorative item, with a special cabin photo with Lamb of God available exclusively to pre-sale buyers.

“ Imagine the sheer horror on the faces of all the happy families aboard, let’s say, a Disney Cruise, when they look across the sea and see GWAR decapitating someone on the main deck of a big-ass boat filled with a few thousand crazed metalheads, ” says Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe. “ If there’s any better reason to go on the Headbangers Boat, I can’t think of one…well, that and all our other friends we’ve played shows on land with that will be joining us. It’s gonna be a party for sure – see y’all somewhere in the Atlantic! ”

“ A thrash metal cruise vacation to the Bahamas? Hell yea! Headbangers Boat!, ” says Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton. “ We’re stoked about this one y’all! Join us in a celebration of the heavy metal movement that these bands and these fans have been building for the last two decades. Lots of incredible bands with some more surprises announcing soon. LFG! ”

Latest album Omens is out now via Nuclear Blast Records and is perhaps Lamb Of God ‘s angriest album yet. Produced by long-time collaborator Josh Wilbur (Korn, Megadeth), Omens is a vicious new testament for the Richmond, Virginia-based band, a furious entry in their beloved catalogue. “The world is crazy and keeps changing. Omens is a reaction to the state of the world,” Blythe explains. “It’s a very pissed-off record.” He pauses for emphasis. “It is extremely pissed-off.”  Most recently the band shared blistering single “Ditch” and its official video. Watch “Ditch”  here .

The  Omens  album is available now at  Lamb-Of-God.com and Record Store , boasting several exclusive items, including a signed coloured vinyl variant, shirt, hoodie, and signed CDs with an alternate colour cover. UK vinyl variants include standard black vinyl; a crystal clear, silver, and black marbled vinyl (exclusive to the UK); white and sky blue marbled vinyl; and a silver vinyl (band shop exclusive).

About Lamb Of God

A five-piece metal band from Richmond, Virginia, Lamb Of God have met with increasing acclaim Stateside for their refusal to be categorised. Influences of black, death and prog metal certainly, but with an intelligent and skilled touch not common to these genres.

Lamb Of God Announce Rescheduled UK And European Tour Dates

Lamb Of God's first UK headline tour in a whopping eight years has – unsurprisingly – been pushed back to late 2021.

Lamb Of God Announce Rescheduled UK And European Tour Dates

Having been forced to postpone/cancel their UK and European tour this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, Lamb Of God have now announced all rescheduled dates for 2021.

The Virginia metal titans will be joined by Kreator and Power Trip as special guests on the winter run, with this brilliant bill more than making up for the fact that it's been eight whole years since Lamb Of God last did a headline tour of the UK (before this, their most recent proper headline run was January 2014). All is forgiven now, guys!

"While it's later than we had hoped, we're excited to have new dates in the books for 2021," enthuses LoG guitarist Mark Morton. "We couldn't be more excited about returning to the stage in Europe with our friends in Kreator and Power Trip. It will be worth the wait."

"Better late than never," adds Kreator's Mille Petrozza. "We’re excited to finally get the good news to our awesome and very patient hordes. Obviously the original dates in March/April were cancelled – we had hoped to reschedule at the end of this year which we now know would not be possible either. We’ll be back with a new record and new production, together with LoG’s latest banger… the tour will be bigger and badder than before! See you there in 2021!"

Lamb Of God & Kreator’s European/UK Tour Delayed To 2023

Back in September of 2019, Lamb Of God and Kreator announced their plans to hit the road across Europe and the UK together in March of 2020 on the ‘ State Of Unrest Tour ‘. With the pandemic that ensued, that trek was postponed several times and has just newly been delayed once again.

Originally planned to feature Power Trip as the openers, it was said at the time that members of all three bands had been working on a collaborative track to accompany the trek . While the fate of that track was not made clear, it has since been confirmed that both Lamb Of God and Kreator have collaborated on a song dubbed “ State Of Unrest ” that will accompany the launch of the trek.

With Power Trip ‘s frontman Riley Gale passing away in 2020, Thy Art Is Murder and Gatecreeper were most recently added as the openers for the trek. Per today’s announcement however, that run will now take place in early 2023 with opening acts pending.

Lamb Of God commented:
