I’ve done several of the boat tours myself, because for me, there’s hardly a better combination of sailing, jazz and New York City. Maybe you feel the same way I do: whenever I hear jazz, I feel like I’m in New York City – just wonderful!

My tip: Especially the Jazz Cruises at Christmas are very popular and the tickets are booked up quickly. Therefore, you should decide quickly if there are still available tickets.

Jazz Cruises in New York City

Classic harbor line: holiday jazz cruise aboard classic motor yacht.

Holiday Jazz Cruise Aboard Classic Motor Yacht

This Holiday Jazz Cruise aboard a 1920’s style luxury yacht is one of my absolute favorite tours in New York. The ship has a wonderful charm and cannot be compared to the big sightseeing ships. Holiday Jazz Cruise starts at the Chelsea Piers and takes you along the Hudson River to the Statue of Liberty and the harbor of New York. On the way you can enjoy a wonderful view of the New York skyline and smooth jazz at the same time.

Classic Harbor Line: Manhattan Holiday Yacht Cruise with Jazz, Cocoa & Carols

Best Christmas Dinner Cruises NYC

Why not spending time on a Christmas Holiday Cruise during Christmas in New York? Both locals and NYC visitors love the amazing Christmas Cruises New York City has to offer.

My favorite holiday cruise is the New York City Cocoa and Carols Holiday Cruise. The Jazz Band on board is fun and so talented which makes the New York City Cocoa and Carols Holiday Cruise even more entertaining. Relax in the heated main observation cabin, join in the caroling, and admire the city through the glassed-in observatory on the 1920s style yacht.

Classic Harbor Line: Evening Jazz Cruise on the Yacht Manhattan

From one of our absolute favorite boat tours in New York there is also a Jazz Cruise. You are on board a luxury yacht in the style of the 1920s, which has a wonderful charm and is not to be compared with the big sightseeing ships. The jazz cruise starts at the Chelsea Piers and takes you along the Hudson River to the Statue of Liberty and the harbor of New York. On the way you can enjoy a wonderful view of the New York skyline and smooth jazz at the same time.

And the best part? The first drink is included in the price of the Jazz Cruise!

Bateaux: Dinner Cruise

Forget trying to snag a hard-to-get reservation at New York’s hottest restaurants du jour. Instead, indulge in a delicious 3-course dinner during the cruise on an all-glass boat around New York City that offers you an up-close look at the Statue of Liberty and other famed sites. As a live pianist plays relaxing jazz music for you, take in the immense view of one of the world’s great cities, and enjoy a delicious pre-set dinner by the on-board executive chef.

You will sail with the beautiful tall ship “Clipper City” from Battery Park southwards into the harbor of New York and can admire the illuminated One World Trade Center and the skyline from close range. The atmosphere on the tall ship is really very special: you are surrounded by locals, the hustle and bustle of the city is far away and you are immediately deeply relaxed.

Bateaux New York Luxury Brunch Cruise

Bateaux Dinner Cruise

The boat tours with Bateaux New York are super-popular, especially the Dinner Cruise (which is also one of our favorites). In addition, there’s a Brunch Cruise that takes you from the Chelsea Piers on the Hudson River to the Statue of Liberty in two hours. Along the way, you’ll see many of New York’s famous landmarks; I always find the skyline impressive and beautiful. And because the Bateaux New York is made of a lot of glass, the view from everywhere is really good.

If you are looking for an elegant and luxurious brunch cruise, there is no way around the Bateaux Brunch Cruise: you can expect a brunch menu with a huge selection, there is live music, service on board and all non-alcoholic drinks are included in the price.

Make yourself comfortable on the old yacht from the 1920s and get into the Christmas mood during the Cocoa & Carols Holiday Cruise. This boat tour at Christmas time is one of my absolute favorites. It starts from Pier 62 (Chelsea Piers) on a beautifully decorated yacht. On the way through New York Harbor and the Hudson River, breathtaking views of the New York skyline, the One World Trade Center, Governors Island, the Brooklyn Bridge and of course the Statue of Liberty are guaranteed.

Classic Harbor Line sunset jazz cruise

We took a sunset jazz cruise around Manhattan and it was absolutely magical

A jazz trio played live music as we journeyed toward the Statue of Liberty.

Shaye Weaver

On Tuesday evening, I found myself in the middle of the Hudson River—somewhere I never imagined I'd be. The sun had just begun to set and the water was a bit choppy with storm clouds rolling in over Lower Manhattan.

Luckily, I was on a yacht, safe and sound. I was on board the Classic Harbor Line 's Evening Jazz Cruise Aboard Manhattan, a 1.5-hour cruise at sunset set to live jazz.

The evening began by taking a seat inside the '20s-style Yacht Manhattan—made extra cozy with ample pillows and corner tables—and ordering a glass of champagne, which was included in the ticket price (everyone gets one beer, glass of sparkling/still wine, soft drink, still or sparkling water on the house).

We soon started crusin' around the island, going due south, to the live jazz sounds of the Boat Band , led by Michael McGarril on the starboard side.

Classic Harbor Line sunset jazz cruise

There were about 10 couples aboard the yacht, which was covered with windows you could open and skylights that let the sunshine through. I had never been so close to the river water before, but even so, we were in no danger of getting wet. Even the clouds that were threatening rain before we launched at 6:30 had moved out.

As we passed the west side of Manhattan, we saw the new Little Island and its not-yet-unveiled amphitheater, the imposing One World Trade tower, sailboats gliding peacefully and Jersey City's many high rises. As the sun got lower in the sky, the light bounced off different buildings, especially the Empire State Building, which seemed to glow like a torch in the sky.

As we took in the views and sipped on our drinks, the Boat Band (which included Dustin Kaufman on drums and Christian Nourijanian on keys) played jazz standards of the 1990s, including a Billy Joel tune that one of the boat staffers actually sang to, impressing guests.

Before we knew it, we came right upon the Statue of Liberty. I forgot just how massive she is. It's rare to get so close to her when not taking a ferry to Liberty Island, especially for an NYC resident. When we reached her in her green glory just after 7pm, the sun was setting right behind her and we were treated to an incredible view.

Classic Harbor Line sunset jazz cruise statue of liberty

The cruise was fantastic, not just because of the views and the champagne, but because it gave me a zoomed-out view of my beloved city. There was also some camaraderie between people on the water, from the yacht's crew to the musicians and even those already out on the water sailing. Folks boating with Hudson River Community Sailing even waved to us and danced to our jazz music.

I asked Michael McGarril, the bandleader and saxophonist, what it's like to play a gig while moving across water and he said he and his bandmates have to be very versatile to play on these yachts since every trip is different. Sometimes they're aboard a different yacht and sometimes there are some heavier waves that tip the drums a bit.

"You get used to it," he told us. "It's just preparation and the balance of things. We're lucky to be able to play like this."

I could get used to it, too.

To have your own little evening jazz cruise, tickets are $104 per person for two to three guests or $86 per person for four or more guests — on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings in May. (Sunday won't be offered in June, however). Departure times depend on the sunset time, but are generally either at 6:30pm or 7pm, with an occasional 6pm:

May 13, 18 (6:30pm departure) May 16, 20, 22, 25, 27 (7pm departure) May 29, 30 and June and July Saturdays (7:15pm departure) June and July Wednesdays (6pm departure)

Starting Saturday, June 5, Classic Harbor Line’s Live Jazz City Lights or Sunset Sail in NY Harbor begin. For this trip, the live jazz sail leaves at 6:45pm for a two-hour jaunt down to the tip of Manhattan on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It is $96 per person, also inclusive of one beverage. The 1.5-hour City Lights Jazz Sail is on Saturdays at 9:15pm and is $78 per person, and includes one beverage as well. You can reserve your trip at  classicharborline.com or call the Classic Harbor Line NYC phone number (212) 627-1825.

Sail in NYC with Classic Harbor Line

It’s hard to beat views like this: The sparkling New York City skyline seen from the water.

Doesn’t this make you want to sail in NYC ?

There’s no better way to enjoy the NYC skyline than from an elegant sailboat cruising along the Hudson River. I’ve gone on three different NYC sailboat cruises — a NYC sunset cruise, a NYC jazz cruise and a NYC brunch cruise — with Classic Harbor Line. I’m here to tell you that it’s a great time on the water.

Whether you’re taking your date on a sail in NYC or celebrating a girlfriend’s birthday, Classic Harbor Line’s NYC cruises won’t leave you disappointed.

Sailing around Manhattan is one of the most exciting ways to experience the city in every season.

Last summer, the local cruise company invited me to experience a couple of its sails in NYC, including a romantic NYC sunset cruise (check rates here!) and fun NYC jazz cruise (check rates here!) .

Both NYC cruises welcome guests aboard a stunning, wood-accented sailboat for a smooth sail around the city’s sparkling skyline.

Classic Harbor Line offers a slew of scenic sightseeing sailboat cruises in NYC and beyond, including a fall foliage sail that I’m dying to experience. The company offers holiday-themed cruises as well, which I was lucky enough to experience a few Christmases ago .

You can choose from several different options like a 90-minute sightseeing cruise with views of the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan skyline, an evening sunset sail, or daytime sails in the New York Harbor.

Look at how stunning my sunset sail in NYC was:

NYC Sunset Cruise & NYC Jazz Cruise: What To Expect

Both the NYC sunset cruise and jazz cruise lasted about two hours. We spent the whole time outdoors on the deck of the beautiful sailboat.

One major benefit about embarking on a sail in NYC is that it’s an outdoor activity that allows for social distancing. During both of my NYC sailboat cruises, all guests were given assigned seating at least six feet away from one other. It was easy for me to find my own space on the boat and keep a safe distance from others.

Boarding begins 10 minutes before departure, and the sailboat sets sail promptly. For the sunset cruise, we left the dock at 6:30 p.m. The live jazz cruise took place later in the evening at 9:30 p.m.

As soon as the sailboat picks up some speed, the staff hands out the first round of complimentary drinks. Yes, there’s typically a drink included in your ticket purchase. And yes, you can order more if you want!

On the sunset cruise, I chose a tangy cider. For the jazz cruise, I went with a glass of white wine.

The vibe on both cruises was laidback and cheerful. During the NYC sunset cruise, the whole crew sang happy birthday for one of the guests. We were lucky to get a stunning cotton candy-colored sunset. I mean, it’s hard to compete with this view of the NYC skyline!

NYC Sunset Cruise, NYC sailboat cruise, New York jazz cruise

Now let’s talk about the NYC jazz cruise.

A live jazz band plays classic tunes throughout the sail in NYC. It certainly beats any jazz performance on a typical stage.

All in all, I can wholly recommend both the sunset cruise and jazz cruise ! We spent two hours sailing past the Financial District’s gargantuan skyscrapers, while the warm summer breeze complimented the wonderful evening. It’s the perfect activity for date night or a special occasion.

How Classic Harbor Line Is Keeping Guests Safe On its NYC Boat Cruises

  • Limited capacity: Each boat is limited to 50 percent capacity.
  • Social distancing: Seating arrangements are made in a way to allow at least six feet between passengers.
  • Limited food and beverage: No food is being served for now, though drinks are available.
  • Hand sanitizer: There are hand sanitizer stations set up throughout the yachts.

Sailing in NYC: What Boat Cruises Are Available?

Daily skyline cruises, New York sunset cruises and live jazz cruises are available throughout the summer and into the fall. Holiday cruises are available during the colder months.

Whether you’re looking for a jazzy evening with the photo-worthy NYC skyline, an interesting architecture cruise or a romantic escape from the busy streets of Manhattan, Classic Harbor Line offers a number of different sightseeing cruises, as well as holiday-themed parties later in the year. Check out all the available cruises here .

Where Is Classic Harbor Line Located?

Classic Harbor Line’s NYC cruises leave from Pier 62 at Chelsea Piers, on the west side of Manhattan. If you use the Google Maps app, you can type in “Classic Harbor Line,” and the app will point you in the right direction.

How To Get To Pier 62

You can easily get to Pier 62 via public transportation, Uber/Lyft or by car.

By subway: Take the C or E train to 23rd Street. You’ll exit on Eighth Avenue, so you’ll need to walk about three avenues west until you hit the Hudson River and the Chelsea Piers complex.

By bus: Take the crosstown M23 bus west to the last stop, Chelsea Piers, Pier 62.

By car: If you are planning to park your car at Chelsea Piers, the access road into the parking lots is at West 24th Street. This road is only accessible if you are southbound on the West Side Highway or westbound on 23rd Street. On 23rd street, take a right on Eleventh Avenue followed by a quick left on West 24th Street. Use the taxi turn-in into Chelsea Piers, and stay to the right.

Parking: Chelsea Piers parking is available on Piers 61, 60 and 59.

Woman in a blue dress smiling on a sailboat. Classic Harbor Line's New York sunset cruise is one of the best things to do in NYC this summer. Sail in NYC with Classic Harbor Line.

What To Wear On a NYC Sunset Cruise

Wondering what to wear on your special night out on the water? Your best Mediterranean-inspired sailing outfit, of course!

All jokes aside, there’s no dress code for Classic Harbor Line’s cruises, although I must caution against wearing a short dress or skirt as it can get quite windy on deck .

Heels are also probably not the best idea — I had some difficulty walking around the sailboat when it began lightly tilting to one side. People generally come dressed in a nice outfit for the occasion, but nothing overly fancy.

What Should You Bring On Your NYC Sail?

You should bring a face mask, hand sanitizer, a digital version of your ticket and a camera, of course. There are so many beautiful photo opportunities during every NYC sail.

Remember to keep masks on during the entire sail, unless you’re removing it for a drink. Even the jazz band wore a mask during a jazz cruise! Everyone at Classic Harbor Line is doing their part to keep staff and guests as safe as possible.

Setting sail on the beautiful, intimate Kingston 1920s-style yacht, this Classic Harbor Line tour promises a sunset experience that feels far more luxurious than the run-of-the-mill big-boat sightseeing tours.

Focusing on the Lower Manhattan skyline and surroundings, the 1.5-hour cruise takes you on a scenic route through the New York Harbor, passing by postcard-worthy landmarks like Lady Liberty and the historic Brooklyn Bridge.

Rating: ⭐️ 4.5/5 ( 4 reviews )

“Brilliant!!! amazing boat trip, amazing staff on the boat, couldn’t recommend enough. A must do trip if you come to new york.” Matty, tripadvisor

The Big Apple oozes charm regardless of the season. But when the holidays roll around, when the city becomes engulfed in twinkling lights and Christmas cheer, few places can match the magic in the air.

Taking place on a classic 1920s-style yacht, Classic Harbor Line’s tour shines a spotlight on the enchanting atmosphere of New York City during the festive season. This 1.5-hour cruise whisks you out onto the Hudson River where you’ll be gifted stunning views of the city’s world-famous skyline (and the dazzling holiday decorations in between).

Don’t fret about the cold either — the interior cabin is heated and decked out in festive decor.

At Christmas time, there’s arguably no place more magical than New York. And the city’s breathtaking skyline is even more spectacular when the sun starts to set. The captain and crew are helpful and informative, making you feel right at home on their beautiful vintage-style boat. Without sugar-coating it, it’s a holiday season must-do.

Like stepping back in time, this sunset boat ride on the Clipper City — resembling an old-school pirate ship — promises an evening of insights,  romance, and relaxation. Far more than just a sunset sightseeing tour, the Clipper City adventure is an experience that immerses you in the beauty of New York City’s waterways. The crew are so friendly and helpful too! The views, of course, are breathtaking, especially as the sun begins to set. It’s a memorable way to see New York – we can’t recommend it enough.

Rating: ⭐️ 4.4/5 ( 40 reviews )

“We had a wonderful time! The clipper ship and the Jazz band were wonderful, and the view of Manhattan from the water was truly magical.” Felicia, Getyourguide

With the modern Freedom Tower contrasting the historic Woolworth Tower, and dozens of adjacent skyscrapers thrown into the mix, the Lower Manhattan skyline is undoubtedly stunning. There are so many things to do in Manhattan (and the Financial District, specifically) on foot, but to really appreciate its grandeur, you need to see it from the water.

Enter Manhattan By Sail and their classic 1920s schooners. As you glide down the Hudson River and then up the East, you’ll be treated to close-up views of Lady Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge and so much more.

The sunset sail is the main event; but if you’re after something different, the Shearwater also hosts brunch cruises!

Why You Should Take a New York City Sunset Cruise

Red neon Pepsi-Cola sign that hangs on the waterfront in Queens, NY.

There are so many reasons to take a  sunset cruise! NYC at sundown may just offer the best light show there is. It’s a gorgeous time of day to be out on the water, when you get to see famous landmarks in a different light.

The beginning of sunset casts a rosy glow and all that metal and steel that make up the city begins to soften. Soon, skyscrapers turn on their night lights and begin to twinkle as the sky fades into darkness, and suddenly, the night seems even brighter than the day.

View from a boat on the East River of the United Nations in New York City.

There’s another great reason to take a sunset cruise. New York City is made up of five boroughs; you’ll get a better idea of the lay of the land from the perspective of a cruise. And a quick glance at a map confirms that Manhattan is an island, surrounded by rivers that empty into the New York Harbor, which ultimately leads to the Atlantic Ocean. This map comes to life once your vessel pulls away from its pier.

New York is also largely defined by its various neighborhoods , and a view from the water illustrates that better than, say, walking through the crowds of Times Square. If your cruise departs from Chelsea Piers or Pier 84, you’re on the Hudson River and New Jersey is just across the water.

Scan the horizon to find the Empire State Building–that’s Midtown Manhattan. Follow the skyline south until you spot One World Trade in Lower Manhattan , towering over every other building in sight.

At some point, your cruise will loop around the southernmost tip of the island, heading toward the Brooklyn Bridge and the East River. A cruise shows you how all the landmarks, land masses, and waterways come together to form the city of New York.

And if you’re already familiar with the geography, you’ll still get to see New York from an entirely different perspective. I love sailing past Little Island and getting a good look at those tulip-shaped pods, or seeing the waning daylight reflecting off of the Vessel, the copper beehive-shaped monument that’s nestled into Hudson Yards .

View from the Hudson River of Little Island and the Empire State Building at sunset.

I also love the chance to see the full span of the Brooklyn Bridge and how it connects Manhattan to Brooklyn. And I will never, ever, no matter how long I live in New York, tire of seeing the Statue of Liberty close up, especially at sunset.

And if all of the reasons above don’t convince you, my final reason I recommend a New York City sunset cruise is to let someone else do the work for you!

If you’re visiting as a tourist, chances are that you’ve clocked more steps than you usually do in your daily life. You’ve probably waited in lines to see landmarks, jostled with crowds for photos, and gotten lost on the subway once or twice.

When you take a cruise designed for tourists, all you need to do is get yourself to the departure point. Then grab a seat with a view, maybe a refreshing beverage and snack, and then relax and let the glorious NYC scenery glide past you. You can take all your epic photos without even leaving your seat, or roam around the vessel a bit for varying viewpoints.

So climb aboard a sunset cruise and take a load off!

7 Tips for Preparing for Your New York Sunset Cruise

View from the East River of the Empire State Building seen in between two taller buildings.

  • Consider the weather forecast . Cruises typically operate rain or shine but will cancel if there’s extreme wind, rain, or otherwise poor conditions. You’ll be notified in advance and given the opportunity to reschedule (or receive a refund).
  • Check cancellation policies . Some operators allow you to cancel up to 24 hours in advance; others do not allow changes or refunds. Know before you book.
  • If you’re booking your sunset cruise far in advance, make sure they allow for cancellations. New York’s weather is unpredictable and while cruises won’t operate in extreme weather, an overcast day won’t stop them from sailing. A dreary day may not have a colorful sunset , and a scenic sunset is, after all, the reason you’re booking an NYC sunset cruise!
  • Note your boarding time. Some cruises begin boarding up to 45 minutes before departure. On vessels with general seating, I recommend arriving even earlier if you want your choice of seats.
  • Do not bring outside food or drinks unless the policy states that is permissible. Many cruises listed here allow passengers to bring light snacks; some do not.
  • Take a sweater or jacket most times of year. If your sunset cruise takes place on a hot night in July or August, you can probably get away with short sleeves (I personally would still bring a sweater for backup!). But other than the dog days of summer, expect it to get chilly on the water.
  • Tip the crew! If your cruise was narrated, seek out the speaker and give him or her a cash tip. Otherwise, give it to the crew member who, at the end of the cruise, is helping passengers disembark safely. A good guideline is to give 15-20% of the total cost of the cruise.

Final Thoughts on New York City Sunset Cruises

Even after living in New York City for almost 14 years, one of the things I love the best is the skyline. And no matter how many times I see them, I adore the sight of the Empire State Building, One World Trade, and the Statue of Liberty.

In my opinion, there’s no better way to get an all-encompassing view of the skyline and landmarks than by taking a sunset cruise. New York is really at its best at sunset, something you’ll witness as you relax into the comfort of your cruise and sail past some of the most beautiful scenery in the world.

At Manhattan by Sail, we’re your venue… and so much more. Today, aboard the Shearwater  and  Clipper City , we share the joy of sailing our beautiful harbor with visitors and New Yorkers alike. Offering an incomparable setting for your outing, we’ve developed into a world-class venue. On board during our specialty sails, you can enjoy the sweetness of live jazz music , local craft beers , spicy performances from some of NYC’s premier burlesque performers, and much more. But some things have remained the same since the beginning: our passion, commitment, and our caring, enthusiastic crew who sail each day with their whole hearts.

At Manhattan By Sail, we welcome you aboard to share in our joyful culture and to join us in falling in love with NYC, over and over again.

This is an experience I highly recommend and I'll definitely do again with friends. I booked this for a corporate group outing. It was a great summer Friday excursion with the best view of the city and statue of liberty you won't get on land. Drinks, lite bites, and the Hudson. If you're visiting NYC - Add this to your Things to Do list. If you live in the city, do yourself a favor and experience it in a new way. You'll leave feeling happy to live in such a majestic city.

Absolutely brilliant. Booked the shearwater lady liberty cruise through my New York Explorer pass so wasn't sure what to expect. When we got there was greeted by informative staff and the boat is truly beautiful a restored 1920s schooner. When on board the staff are lovely, gave us blankets and ponchos as it was slightly chilly and the odd spot of rain. Pointed things of interest out to us while on board and kept the great selection of drinks flowing. Brilliant, would recommend.

If you’re going to do a boat trip to see the Statue of Liberty why wouldn’t you choose a historic sailing vessel rather than one of the uninspiring motor boats? Being on a sailing ship with the sails up really adds to the experience. The crew are friendly and engaging and will encourage you to get involved in raising the sails, if you want to.

What a perfect way to enjoy the Upper New York Bay. Great company and both my girlfriend and myself were amazed that all the other boats were so over crowded and ours was perfect. Best way to see the bay and Statue of Liberty. No horrid motor sounds nice music played and drinks on hand friendly staff. Trust us go with this company and you won’t regret it. All the other boats had a frantic experience but ours was heavenly.

Both the ship and the crew were awesome! We especially liked the freedom to move around the entire ship from start to finish. Also not having it narrated turned out to be a plus - it was much nicer to just have informal talks with any of the crew members - they were all very nice and very knowledgeable. They engage volunteers to help and my son really had a great time helping to hoist the sail!

This boat was recommended by some friends & they were spot-on. Loved every aspect of the cruise & enjoyed having a chat with one of the crew members. Had a few cold beers on board too. By far the best value of anything we did in New York, which we found a very expensive city.

Despite being in the nearby area for the past three years this was my first time doing a sail around NYC. I bought tickets on a whim to surprise my boyfriend on a romantic excursion and it was honestly so much fun. The day was really cloudy and cold, but they provide blankets, which is convenient for those who didn’t come prepared. We purchased tickets for the cider tasting/sail, the drinks were good and we were also provided food. The staff were friendly and accommodating and we got really amazing views of the city, I was very happy with our experience.

This has to be the best way to have an enjoyable sail past Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. You can take the incredibly cost-effective Staten Island ferry which zooms past or the organized and rammed tourist boats from Battery Park, which aren’t much slower. Only the clipper yacht passes closely in a duration which gives everyone plenty of time to stare in amazement and get all the photos you need. Our next visit will be with these guys on another one of their sailing tours. A must-do.

Excellent, relaxing cruise around the harbor including a great view of the Statue of Liberty! The weather was perfect and it was a fantastic way to end a hectic day of traveling. My daughter and I enjoyed wine as we sat on the deck and let the gentle breeze overtake us!

We've been on the Shearwater Brunch Cruise 3 times, & once on the Clipper City Beer/Lobster Roll Cruise. Excellent quality food & beverages, friendly & professional staff. I prefer sailing on the Shearwater since it's smaller & I like the more "intimate" experience. Can't say enough good things about Manhattan by Sail & I can't wait to go on another sail!

The Clipper City schooner cruise should be on every NYC visitor's list! We four travelers took a leisurely, exciting, and informative sail around the Statue of Liberty and can't wait to do it again. The captain and crew were personable, professional, and took excellent care of their passengers. It's also really easy to find. What a great experience and it was my 16 year old grandson's very favorite activity during our July trip! It's tops in customer service, communication, and it's TOPS on my to-do list for our next NYC trip!

A friend of ours suggested we try this and it did not disappoint! We had taken a ferry trip last time we were in New York and I have to say the sail boat is definitely the way to go! The staff were all so friendly and work SO hard. Views of the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan were incredible! A really super experience!

At Least 2 Are Stabbed on a Party Boat in Brooklyn

Three people were hospitalized, including a man who was struck in the head with a bottle, and more than 1,000 passengers were evacuated, the authorities said.

Two ambulances parked at the Brooklyn Army Terminal near a ship called the Cornucopia Majesty.

By Erin Nolan and Eliza Fawcett

Two men were stabbed and another was hit in the head with a bottle on a crowded party boat in Brooklyn on Saturday evening, the authorities said.

The men were hospitalized with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, police and fire officials said.

The police said the attacks forced the evacuation of more than 1,000 passengers from the boat, a cruise ship called the Cornucopia Majesty , which was docked at Pier 4 at the Brooklyn Army Terminal.

A 32-year-old man was stabbed in the torso, a 40-year-old man was stabbed several times in the chest and abdomen, and a 28-year-old man was hit in the head with a bottle, the police said. All three men were taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn.

The stabbings happened just after 5 p.m., the police said. No arrests had been made as of Saturday night, and it was unclear how many attackers had been involved.

The police said they believed that a dispute had escalated into a physical altercation, but that the events leading up to the stabbings were still under investigation.

Just before 8 p.m., the group that organized the party, BYFAR Entertainment, posted a statement to social media .

“Unfortunately, a crime scene developed by the pier, which has caused the postponement of the night event,” the company said. “We will have updates on a later date so just hold on tight with us while we sort everything out. BYFAR Entertainment has always been a beacon of safe events in New York City and this rare occurrence has never been the norm with us.”

In the hours before the fight, the Cornucopia Majesty had hosted a party .

Passengers said in interviews that they had enjoyed dancing, eating and drinking rum aboard the ship, but by early evening, they were standing confused on the pier, surrounded by police cruisers and ambulances.

Glendon Thomas, 29, a resident of New Jersey, said he and several friends realized a fight had broken out on the ship only after they disembarked.

“I saw a guy laying on his friend,” he said, adding that the friend appeared to have a wound on his chest.

Kevaun Whitely, who lives in Brooklyn, said the fight had broken out as a large crowd of rowdy partygoers — many of whom had been drinking alcohol — attempted to disembark through the same door.

“It was like a stampede,” Mr. Whitely, 27, said.

The police kept Mr. Whitely and several other people on board the ship for hours as they checked identification, he said.

“I’m glad we got out safe,” he said, adding, “I hope nobody passed away from all this craziness.”

Cruise under the Skyway bridge during a light show

ST. PETE BEACH, Fla. — Thousands of cars drive over the Skyway Bridge every day, but one adventure offers another view of the bridge from below.

What You Need To Know

Florida on a tankful goes to the edge of tampa bay with st. pete coastal cruises sunset island cruise and skyway light show is one of several tours offered  it was started in 2021 by high school friends chad cassidy and conor o'neil the mission is to give everyone a chance to enjoy the coastal lifestyle.

Capt. Conor O’Neil is a super fan of coastal living, and could drive a boat before a car.

“So I had a little 17-foot skiff and I would pull the boat up to work on the docks behind Treasure Island,” O’Neil said. “And that’s how I would get to and from work.”

The 17-foot skiff has now turned into a 45-foot catamaran.

And he’s no longer riding to work. He’s made the riding the work.

As the president of St. Pete Coastal Cruises , he’s showing off the sunsets from his favorite spots, like a little island just off Ft. Desoto Beach.

It’s basically Postcard City.

“So after running this tour for a year and a half, personally, every single boat, it just doesn’t get old,” O’Neil said.

O’Neil started this venture with another lifelong boater and St. Pete Catholic High School buddy Chad Cassidy.

Their mission is to make the coastal lifestyle affordable. Tourists and locals can jump on one of their luxury passenger boats if they don’t have one of their own.

O’Neil and Cassidy see this beauty, and they don’t want people to miss out because they don’t have a house on the water or a boat of their own.

This is all leading up to the grand finale — to see the landmark that rises over 400-feet out of the water.

“Welcome to my personal favorite part of the night,” O’Neil said. “That’s gonna be the Skyway light show.”

Formal name? The Bob Graham Sunshine Skyway Bridge with more than 1,800 LED lights. And the illuminated columns create a tunnel effect.

A $15 million upgrade was completed in 2019 and paid for with tolls.

And the lights help pay for and paint the picture-perfect life for O’Neil.

“And that’s really where I get my fun out of being on the water and meeting new people and taking them to new places,” O’Neil said.

And riding the waves into his next trip.
