Unlike other rating systems that are based solely on travelers’ experiences, AAA inspectors determine Diamond designations on-site and according to established guidelines and requirements. The AAA Diamond Program reflects the latest in industry trends and travelers’ expectations. The designations not only indicate the level of amenities that you can expect at a property; they also assure that hotels offer a clean, comfortable experience no matter the budget.

Our team of AAA travel editors has been providing travel advice and information for members since the release of the first TourBook in 1926. There are a few ways to get AAA maps. Firstly, you can stop by your local AAA office to pick up paper maps of U.S., Canada and Mexico — for free for AAA members. Plus, select offices carry an atlas of North America.

The second way you can get maps is via the AAA Map Gallery , an online gallery where you can access printable maps of destinations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, as well as maps of cruise terminals and national parks.

The other way to access maps is with TripTik Travel Planner . The TripTik tool allows you to plan and save routes, find important points of interest like hotels (including pet-friendly hotels), campgrounds, restaurants and attractions as well as identify locations that offer discounts and savings to AAA members.

With May Approaching, Pump Prices Stick to the Slow Lane

WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 25, 2024)—With domestic gasoline demand decidedly in the doldrums and the cost of oil retreating, the national average dipped two cents since last week to $3.65.

“Domestic gas demand is pretty pokey at the moment, which is often the case in the runup to Memorial Day and the traditional start of summer driving season,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson. “The recent national average price of  $3.67 could be the peak until hurricane season is well underway. But as always, the wildcard will be the cost of oil, so stay tuned.”

My wife and her friend broke down on I-65, a few miles from our house. I went there, to see what might be wrong, but the car ultimately had to be towed. The tow service was great, responded in a timely manner. My biggest issue was the call center. When you're on the side of a major interstate, on a Saturday evening, I would like to speak to a person that speaks English and understands how our roads are marked in the United States. This costed us a lot of time, just trying to explain where we were, because they do not know what a mile marker is, exit numbers and where the major cities are, because they are not from the United States. This could be dangerous for people, especially being in an area they are not familiar with. Please get people that understand how are roads work!!!!

Since it was established in 1902, AAA has reliably served travelers across the United States. Now, with a century of experience, it has become a trusted organization best known for its comprehensive travel services.

AAA offers three main membership levels: Classic, Plus, and Premier, all with incredible perks. The Classic membership is the basic tier, but there's nothing simple about it. This tier still provides all the essential services, such as roadside assistance, $60 dollars toward locksmith services, and access to travel resources. The Premier membership offers the highest level of coverage and benefits and includes everything from the Plus and Classic tiers with even greater discounts. Membership costs will vary depending on your zip code and the level chosen. For example, the Classic tier in California costs around $36 per year but in neighboring Arizona goes up to $65. Get Everything You Need To Travel In One Place

Now that you know where you want to go, you just have to get there. Luckily, AAA offices can be your one-stop-shop for (almost) all your official documents.

If you know you have air travel planned soon, and you don't have a passport or need to renew it quickly and/or you need a travel visa, head to your nearest AAA office instead of the post office or passport office. With AAA , you can take your passport photos (at a discount for AAA members) and get your passport and visa application expedited through AAA 's connections with RushMyPassport.

If you're planning to drive while abroad, you may also want to consider grabbing an International Driving Permit (IDP). Since a U.S. Driver's License is not accepted in all countries, an IDP is a surefire way to avoid issues. An IDP can also reduce issues with language barriers and it may be required to rent a car. The best part is that with AAA you can get an IDP the same day you apply for only $20, plus additional (but still discounted) fees for the passport photos required for the document.
