Nice hotel - Milan Hotel

My flight was canceled and the United airlines took us to this hotel for the evening and night. Modern, good looking hotel with a great views of Moscow. Very helpful and polite staff. Great dinner!! Small but very clean modern room and bathroom. Recommend!

We have just returned fom Moscow with a school party. The Hotel is new and very smart with 21 floors but as we appeared to be the only people in the Hotel it was very strange. The staff stood around with nothing to do.The food was bland but if you like a version of scrambled eggs from a recipe from World War 2 with tinned sausages air dropped in by the Yanks mistaking Moscow for Berlin ; you'll be at home as you will get them everyday!and when you leave them they are constituted as some form of starter. Dom't ask for butter at breakfast or coffee they must be still on ration.Try holding on to your plates when you are eating something because as soon as you lift your hands off the dreaded eggs and sausages are thrust infront of you and your other plate is taken away whether you've finished or not.I fear the Hotel was being run on a shoestring until the season picked up again.For me it is not the sort of Hotel which suits school parties who like buffet food with a choice of foods.The saving grace was the shopping mal across the road ,they did a variety of foods.Perhaps the Hotel Milan is a themed Hotel where you can experience the old Soviet style of it looks good on the outside but the truth is very different-By the way if you are a Vegetarian give it a wide berth or go to the supermarketPeter

Seems like many of the folks who have posted reviews here have overly high expectations of life! Milan Hotel was great. Its very nice, affordable, and the breakfast buffett is incredible. The hotel staff speaks very good English, will go out of their way to help you, and the currency conversion is more than fair. I got 30 rubles on the dollar. There are plenty of employees always standing around to assist you if you need it, and the rooms are nice, the hotel beautiful. 4 stars indeed. Its not that bad at all of a walk to the metro..10-15 minutes, and the ride to Red Square is 25 minutes.. not bad! There is a shopping center right across the street for all your needs, and the hotel itself operates a 24 hour taxi service with nice new Nissan Maximas that will take you to Domodedovo for 1600 rubles. Better than dishing out 2000 rubles to a rogue taxi driver. A+, wonderful, highly recommended.

Stayed here for two nights - easy to find from Domodedevo - bus outside the terminal takes you to the metro from where it is a 10 minute walk up the road. Exterior of hotel nothing to write home about, but get inside and there is a very impressive lobby/atrium and extremely welcoming staff - I have actually never on 3 previous trips to Moscow found staff with such a service ethic. Room was spacious enough, clean and comfortable. Bathroom very good and decent toiletries. Bar attached to hotel is football themed and called Inter (hotel Milan - geddit?!!!). Staff in Inter shirts, lots of football stuff on walls, and football on TV screens. Food ok - but best bit is brewery on premises brewing 4 or so beers! Breakfast was in same bar - but htink this may be temporary arrangement whilst refurbishments in place - anyway - very good choice at the buffet so you will find something that floats your boat. Other hotel bar is smarter (but strangely, with cheaper wine!!) It serves a 24 hour food menu - but can take some time to deliver, and not necessarily as hot as you would like. Hotel is, as stated, 10 minutes from metro - from where you canget into town in about 30 minutes. I would also recommend going to Kolomenskoe, 5 stops up the line - which is very peaceful and well worth the visit. If you take seriously the advice to not drink the Moscow water, go to the Auchan across the road to buy bottled water - considerably cheaper than the hotel - and you can also get beer, vodka etc to put in your room fridge. If you want to eat locally, you have the hotel - didn't try the retaurants, but Inter was fine - or goto the car superstore next door where there is a Sushi restaurant or a pizza place (Il Patio) that is part of a recommended Moscow chain. All in all, I would highly recommend. Yes - it is a little way out of the centre - but for the saake of a 30 minute train journey you are saving £100 or more per night on the room. I know which I would choose - especially with the quality of service and comfort I got at the Milan. I would certainly consider this again when I come back to Moscow - and I speak as someone who has stayed in the Savoy and the National.

We have been plunked down into a nicer, more civilized hotel than we could afford in New York City! Other reviewers have mentioned the value found here, but you have to be aware that it IS sort of in the middle of nowhere in the extensive Moscow suburbs. We used it as a stopover for one night on the way back from the Russian Far East as it is nearer to Domodedovo airport and there is nothing worth staying in any closer. After a 9 hour plane ride and a long taxi ride through "dacha-land" this hotel was truly heaven sent. Be aware that there is usually a LOT of traffic between this hotel and the airport. It is 21 stories with a glass elevator that runs up the north side from which you can get a view of the city center rising up. The place is gleaming clean, marble and tiles. No off odors, Room really WAS "nonsmoking." Bed was SO comfortable, hallway quiet, no plumbing noises. Almost like home! YOU CANNOT DRINK THE TAP WATER. This is not stressed enough for travelers who are used to potable water and find it hard to believe that Russia does NOT have potable water in its towns and cities! Russians themselves have a name for Moscow's water that is ever more derrogatory than for their own water where they live. Get bottled water either from the shopping center a block away or pay $3 for a bottle from the lobby bar. You must use bottled water even to brush your teeth. Our other hotel in the city center at least had a water dispenser for its guests to fill containers from. The hotel "restaurant" is actually a noisy, smokey brew-pub. With billards. A nice spot for the locals who live in the nearby apartment towers. Menu has many choices and we ate well enough. Breakfast is served in the same place, and had dozens of choices to pick from. Excellent quality and plenty! There is a nice Business Center, but you need to buy an internet card either in 1-hour or 24 hour amount. I asked the concierge if she could check on our flight as I would not need an hours worth of internet time to do that. She obliged and even smiled!

Stayed here as part of a package tour in Moscow. Hotel is located near the airport and free shuttle is available but we did not have to make use of it. This hotel seems to be very popular with group tours from Asia countries. During our stay, only one lift was operational and it was a very unsatisfactory situation especially in the morning when guests were heading for breakfast. Hotel staff were not too conversant in English and could not comprehend what we wanted. Service on the whole was average. The room /toilet is small but clean. The hotel appears new and there is a supermarket across the road . Location is far from city centre . Would not recommend it if you plan to go sightseeing in the Red Square
