Today we should give thanks to the individuals that really like recording their walks — and/or breathtaking 4K drone escapades. It’s these people whose content is plastered all over YouTube giving people like you and I a temporary travel fix. We know it’s not the same as being there, but it’s definitely closer than a lot of other things.

Millions of travelers opted out of passport stamp collecting in 2020, but our eyes can still explore other parts of the world.

1. Namibia and Botswana

This breathtaking footage confirms what so many travelers know: there’s nothing quite as beautiful as Namibia and Botswana. Shot in 4k, the meditative visuals are spectacular, eerie, effervescent and tranquil.

2. Eight-Hour Flight Over Iceland In 4K

Iceland is one of the few countries with landscape varied enough to enjoy an eight-hour video of just that. Slow clap for the person that compiled this amazing video showing off Iceland’s wondrous wild in 4k.

3. Hanoi Walking Tour In 4K

This cozy video takes viewers through the romantic streets of charming Hanoi. The rainy Vietnamese city has a large expat community and is a gateway for travelers venturing to Ha Long Bay. President Barack Obama and Anthony Bourdain once famously dined at Bun Cha Huong Lien in Hanoi.

4. Sierra Leone Drive-Thru In 4k

Go on a quick uber ride through Sierra Leone’s streets in this surprisingly stable video tour. The approximately 30-minute YouTube journey shows a range of different areas throughout the West African city.

5. Pyramids Of Giza Educational Walk In 4k

Take a guided-walking tour through the Pyramids of Giza in 4k. Not purely for vanity, this video features important information about Giza and the seven pyramids that make up the famed monument.

6. Ben Böhmer Live Above Cappadocia in Turkey for Cercle

We stumbled across this performance by accident and were mesmerized by the production. German composer Ben Böhmer’s performance floating above Cappadocia is unlike any other live performance we’ve watched. The European house producer performed an entire set inside a hot air balloon while soaring over the picturesque Turkish region known for extraterrestrial landscape and cavern hotels.

7. Rio De Janeiro Walking Tour

A casual stroll from Rio De Janeiro’s Ipanema to Leblon neighborhoods. The walking tour features a couple of entertaining chats with locals along the way.

8. The Red Sea

One of the premiere diving destinations in the world is located off the shores of North Africa’s Egypt. Most tourists visiting Alexandria don’t get these views however. Filmed entirely underwater, this serene video will make your next shower a bit more relaxing

Beginner's Guide To Frame Rates For Every Type of Video

  • video frame rates guide

30 second travel video

Think back to when you watched a really cool slow-motion clip in a cinematic video or the sped-up transition that led you from one scene to the next. It looks and feels amazing right? If you’re new to video editing and wondering how you can achieve such results, then understanding frame rates is the first step to getting there.

Frame rate or frames per second (fps) plays a crucial role in determining the quality of your video as well as improving the viewing experience for the audience. But with so many different types of frame rates – 24fps, 30 fps, 60 fps, 120 fps – it can get daunting to figure out which one to use and when to use them.

That is why in this article, we will walk you through everything you need to know about frame rates so that you can create compelling videos with ease.

Edit videos with frame-level precision

Without spending hours on your laptop

Edit videos with frame-level precision

Here’s what we’ll cover:

1. What is the frame rate, and why is it important? 2. What happens when you shoot & edit at different frame rates?  3. How can you choose the best frame rate for your video?

1. What is the frame rate, and why is it important?

When you’re watching a video or movie, you’re not really looking at a video per se. This video is only a collection of still images moving fast enough to create the perception of motion—typically loading 24 consecutive images in a second.

Each image in this series of images is a frame , and the speed at which these frames move is the frame speed or frames per second —the number of images loading in a single second. So, a frame rate of 24fps denotes that 24 images are loading in a single second.

An obvious derivation of this is that frame rate determines the quality and style of any video—the higher the frame rate, the faster frames will load making the viewing experience smoother. But how does that work exactly?

This is because our eyes can take in the visual information around us at a specific pace. When you’re watching a video and the rate at which the frames are playing is slower than the pace at which your eyes take in the information it will appear choppy and if it’s faster, you won’t be able to register all of the information.

The standard rate at which videos are shot and played is often 24fps, which is believed to offer a smooth viewing experience since the brain cannot distinguish between the still images in each frame. But when you shoot/play the video at a lower frame rate, say 8fps, you’ll see the video lags so much that you can see individual frames—and that doesn’t offer a great viewing experience.

Now, when you go slightly above 8fps, but still below the standard 24 frames per second, say at 16fps—you’ll still see a significant lag, and a video that’s still edgy around the corners, because it’s lower than the frame rate that seems “normal” to the naked eye.

Finally, when you shoot he video at the standard 24fps—the most common frame rate for videography and filming—you’ll find that video appears smooth and normal because it is close to how we perceive motion with our own eyes.

What makes 24fps the standard in most videos?

24fps is the most commonly used frame rate for videography. Ever since the 1970s, the industry standard was set to 24fps because it was fast enough to create a seamless audio-visual experience without wasting any film in the video. It enables excellent sound reproduction without causing any flickers in the video quality.

Besides, it’s a multipurpose frame rate for shooting cinematic content, everyday videos, gaming videos as well as travel videos.

But if 24fps is the standard, then why do we have all of these higher frame rates – 30fps, 60fps, 120pfs, even 4k? Well, let’s get to the next section.

What happens when you shoot at 60fps and higher?

You know how fps is the number of frames per second of video. This means that if the number of frames were higher, the video would be more detailed. For instance if you have 60 frames for every second, you would get footage that is a lot more detailed and crisp as compared to a video that has 24 frames per second.

Thus shooting a video at 60fps or higher would mean the output is as crisp and detailed as it gets. However, these details will not really make a difference for the naked eye if you plan to play back the video at the standard rate. But when you slow down your footage or speed it up, you will instantly know the difference.

2. What happens when you shoot & edit videos at different frame rates?

The two key factors that determine the viewing experience are—the fps at which it’s shot and the fps at which it’s played. Considering these factors, when a video is shot, edited, rendered, and played at 24fps – it will provide a seamless viewing experience. But if you shoot a video at 30fps and edit or play it back at 24fps, you’re actually reducing its smoothness by removing 5 frames per second. The output will naturally look more choppy.

Of course, the problem of creating slow motion footage gets taken care of with higher frame rates such as 60fps or 120fps – but these also considerably increase your video’s file size and load on the system. So unless you specifically want to showcase slow-motion shots or create a super-cinematic look, your best bet is to shoot and edit the video at the same fps. This is to ensure that you provide an almost natural and super high-quality viewing experience.

3. How can you choose the best frame rate for your video?

Choosing the frame rate for your video depends on a number of factors – what kind of video you’re making, what is the playback speed for the output video, what mood and emotion do you want to portray, and what kind of effects do you want to include among other things.

But before we deal with the question of how to choose the perfect frame rate for your videos, let’s first see how different frame rates are used in filmmaking:

Infographics showing different frame rates used in filmmaking

Nowadays, most films are shot in 120p or 4k to ensure that maximum detail per frame is captured. This gives the editors a lot more control over the editing process as well as creative liberty to emphasize or de-emphasize plot points during the story. However, if you’re a YouTuber or an internet-video creator who edits on a laptop, shooting in higher frame rates might not be your best bet.

For instance, the fight scene shown below needs a high level of detail in a slow motion shot emphasizing a punch that the lead character is making and hence it makes sense for it to be shot in a higher fps. But if you’re making a talking head video, shooting in 30fps will be more than enough for you to get the job done.

Thus, your choice of frame rate depends on the following factors:

1. Style and purpose

What kind of video are you making and who is it for? If you’re making a talking head video then 24 or 30fps would be ideal but if you’re shooting a travel vlog, you will have to shoot at higher fps.

2. Movement in your video

The amount of movement in your video is also crucial for deciding the best frame rate. The higher the amount of motion, the higher your frame speed. Shooting in a quiet, steady setting is easy with 24fps. But if you’re capturing a travel video or shooting an action sequence for a movie, 24fps wouldn’t cut it. You’ll need a higher fps like 60 or 120.

3. Broadcast medium

The delivery medium for your footage also affects the choice of frame speed. If you’re making a video for television, the standard is usually 30fps. But if you’re shooting for the silver screen, you would probably prefer 60fps or higher.

4. File size

Lastly, the file size for your footage plays an equally important role in your choice of frame speed. Shooting a video at a higher frame speed would mean more frames and more information—making the file bulkier. If you’re making videos for your YouTube channel that are edited on a laptop, you’ll want to work with a smaller fps.

When it comes to frame rates, you need to think of various factors before you zero in on a speed that is right for you. With this article, you should be one step closer to making that decision. And while frame rates do determine the quality of your videos to a large extent, that’s not the only thing. How you edit your video is equally important. Editing videos is super easy with an intuitive editor like InVideo that allows you to add text, music, stickers and cool effects with just a few clicks. If you want to learn how to make cool edits to your video in minutes, check out this blog .

And if you prefer to learn through videos, check out our best practices and expert tips on producing thumb-stopping video content on our YouTube channel.

1. Which is better, 30fps or 60fps?

Both these frame rates offer individual benefits. 30fps is well-suited for live broadcasts of news and sports action. It’s also great to add more detail to fast-moving videos. 60fps, on the other hand, is ideal for shooting slow-mo content. It produces a smooth effect for high-quality footage.

2. What is the best frame rate for PS5?

120 frames per second is the best PS5 frame rate to create an immersive gaming experience. You will need a television or device that supports 120fps along with 4K resolution for playing games on PS5.

3. How to increase frame rate on a PC?

You can increase the frame rate on your PC in multiple ways. Here are some quick and easy options:

- Disable start-up items and end tasks unnecessarily occupying space. - Get the latest graphics driver through updates or re-installation. - Minimize the screen resolution. - Clean your disk and change performance settings. - Assess your disk to identify any errors.

 4. How to change the frame rate in Premiere Pro?

Adjusting the frame rate in Premiere Pro is easy. The video editing software interprets every footage at 29.97fps by default. Follow these steps to change it to your preferred fps:

1. Go to the Project pane and right-click the video clip. 2. Hit the Modify button and go to the option for Interpret Footage . 3. Click on Assume this frame rate and enter your desired frame rate.

Jared Leto on 'emotional time travel' of singing Thirty Seconds to Mars hits on new tour

Leto said the band is bringing "a new energy and passion" to nostalgic songs.

For Jared Leto , touring the world with his brother Shannon in their band Thirty Seconds to Mars is "one of the great gifts of a lifetime."

The Academy Award-winning actor and frontman spoke to "Good Morning America" from Poland -- which he said he's dubbed "Pierogi Central" -- ahead of the band's first stop on the European leg of its Seasons World Tour and discussed life on the road, his take on nostalgia and the art of the music video.

Though the tour is in support of the band's latest album, "It's the End of the World but It's a Beautiful Day," released in September, Leto said he's looking forward to performing some of their older hits.

"A funny thing happens sometimes when you kind of walk down a different path and you come back to your roots," he said. "We're playing a lot of old songs on the tour and it's almost like they're brand new songs."

PHOTO: Shannon Leto and Jared Leto of Thirty Seconds to Mars perform onstage during weekend two, day two of Austin City Limits Music Festival at Zilker Park on Oct. 14, 2023 in Austin, Texas.

Leto said songs like "Attack," "The Kill," "From Yesterday" and the titular track off the band's 2005 album "A Beautiful Lie" are making a comeback alongside new songs like "Stuck" and "Seasons."

"There's an energy around it. You kind of interpret the song differently," he explained of revisiting the classics. "We kind of exhausted them a bit so we needed to set them aside. But now we've come back with a new energy and passion and a new respect for the songs as well."

Leto told "GMA" that leaning into the nostalgic aspect of Thirty Seconds to Mars, which the brothers formed in 1998, is something he views as a "beautiful thing."

"I love nostalgia. Music is a chance to almost time travel in a way. It's like emotional time travel," he said. "I think music's really powerful in that way. It transports us."

The art of the music video

A recent post on the band's social media marked the 18th anniversary of the music video for "The Kill," their biggest hit to date. Leto described the music video as an "homage to 'The Shining'" and a something that changed his and his brother's lives forever.

The forthcoming "Tron: Ares" star said music videos are "kind of a dying art" but represent "one of the few places that you can really do whatever the hell you want to do."

"It's also a chance to kind of either interpret the song or reinterpret the song or change the way that people might think about a certain song," he explained. "For me, the identities of the songs are so tied to the videos of the song."

Time to reintroduce themselves

Leto announced Thirty Seconds to Mars' Seasons World Tour in November in an unexpected way: climbing New York City's famous Empire State Building .

Reflecting on the headline-making feat, the rocker said it was his way of "put[ting] a little showmanship into something that would normally be a press release."

"It's like, why can't we dream a little bit bigger?" he added.

Following their dates in Europe, Thirty Seconds to Mars will head back home to the United States later this summer -- the first time they've toured in the U.S. in six years.

The band's Seasons World Tour is part of Live Nation's Concert Week program, which runs through May 14 and gives fans access to $25 tickets to over 5,000 shows from hundreds of artists, happening all year long. Tickets for select shows are available while supplies last.

"It's been a long time and we're excited to kind of get back out there and, you know, reintroduce ourselves," Leto said. "We're still here."

"It's incredible to be able to do this -- and especially share it with my brother Shannon for this long and to tour the world," he added. "We feel super, super, super lucky. So grateful to be able to do this."

How To Make A 30-Second Video: Step-by-Step Guide

' src=

The State of Video in 2024

The modern internet is all about visual content. You’re supposed to instantly attract attention and keep the viewer glued to your content as long as possible.

This is best done with a 30-second video.

But do you know how to make a 30-second video that will resonate with the target audience and give a clear message? We will teach you how and leave out some tips, so keep reading.

Why a 30-Second Video?

Different audiences have different expectations. Depending on your target audience, your video will have a different impact based on video length.

When made for an expert audience, the length of video clips should be long, elaborate, and packed with information, or they will appear patronizing.

When made for a layman’s audience,  a video should be short , at least 30 seconds, straightforward, and packed with just enough information to keep the viewer engaged, or it will appear overbearing.

Giving a long video to a layperson audience or a short video to an expert audience would make viewers quickly lose interest in the video you will create as they will start feeling it needs to be on their level.

Making a  30-second video  is about understanding the audience and providing what it expects, wants, and needs.

5 Steps on How To Make a 30-Second Video

1. grab attention to the title.

A typical layman is constantly distracted, with dozens or hundreds of open tabs in the browser and several chat apps running simultaneously.

To grab their attention, the video you will create needs to have the right title that gives off what’s known as “information scent,” making viewers drop everything to click on and watch your video to the end with undivided attention.

Jakob Nielsen, a usability expert, compared how users hunt for information online to how animals forage for food in the jungle—by trying to sniff out the information scent, as it were. When it comes to video titles, this means your title should be:

  • Understandable at a glance
  • Informative
  • Honest in setting expectations

A title that provides an overwhelmingly strong information scent can turn the audience away.

This is known as “clickbait” and may fail catastrophically when the audience catches on that the video titled “THE PRANK THAT NEARLY KILLED ME” neither shows the prank nor that the video creator was in mortal danger.

2. Write A Script For The Video

Movies and shows have scripts, and your 30-second video should, too. It’s not an ego boost but a simple and easy trick to make video-making efforts much more efficient.

A  video script  lets you plan and organize your video before you’ve even started making it. If you start making amazing videos, your story and scripts will serve as a great portfolio and a launchpad to success.

A typical English speaker will say around 150 words per minute, so a 30-second video should have a script of around 75-80 words.

The script should include the description as well as all the narration. If you find yourself over the  word limit , keep writing and split the script in two; now you’ve got the script for the sequel, too!

3. Make A Storyboard

Now that you have a script, it’s time to visualize the scenes that will keep your viewers engaged. This step will ask you for drawing skills, but you don’t have to create  your storyboard professionally ; a scribble will do.

The storyboard serves as a general guideline on the order of your scenes during your video.

You should understand how objects in your video project stand in relation to one another and, if there’s movement, in what direction it’s happening.

4. Optimize The Video For The Target Social Media Platforms

Social media platforms allow for sharing short, easily consumable content, such as 30-second videos.

You can create your own social media accounts with just a few clicks. However, each platform has quirks you should exploit to create your video to have as much spread as possible.

For example, YouTube allows for the setting of thumbnails, while Twitter and 9gag, by default, autoplay videos are muted.

Platforms are increasingly adopting muted autoplay as a default because video content makers abused the autoplay feature by creating a blaring soundtrack that irritated and repelled the audience.

No problem, go visual in your 30-second videos.

Remember that most videos are viewed without sound, so record subtitles to keep every audience engaged when watching your explainer videos, especially with videos of 30-second lengths.

5. Use Visual Conventions in Animated Video Production Process

When you start making a 30-second video, you’re supposed to invent only some things from scratch. Trying to be completely original is likely to confuse your audience.

Instead, it would help if you drew from the pool of visual conventions other video creators have already drawn from.

For example, if you want to show that something happened in the early 20th century or before, you can create your 30-second video monochrome instead of writing out the year.

You’ll start noticing these conventions as you watch videos from content creators. Here are a few examples and expert tips that showcase how Vidico makes use of critical visual conventions to maximize the impact of video marketing:

Background Elements

In this 30-second explainer video for mattress brand Koala , the audience can quickly tell that the second part of the 30-second video is happening in the kitchen because of the pan rack in the background.

The first part can immediately be placed as happening in the bedroom, again because of the background, which is pristine white.

By understanding how the layperson viewer picks up visual cues seen in the background, you can place your story wherever you want without being overbearing about it.

We can make a 30-second video for your company. Use our  VidiFit Quiz  and get transparent pricing.

In this  Square Terminal  video, you can see how the clothes make the layperson viewer understand the person’s standing in the world.

As the explainer video starts, we see fast food servers wearing uniforms. The owner of the restaurant, Tim, wears the same uniform but is then shown wearing different clothes, though still with an apron.

The layperson viewer can immediately understand that Tim has grown his business, seeing how his clothes are now more intricate but still do the same job.

The message is clear for the record—this service helps you move up in the world.

Facial Expressions

Our brand commercial for  Wisr  shows the power of facial expressions. The 30-second explainer video opens with a man in plain clothes sitting over a stack of papers with an anguished expression.

The papers worry him. The camera shows five people in business suits opposite him with satisfied, smiling, and intent expressions. One of the business people hands the man a pen, and the man signs. The business people cackle and burst out laughing.

The story seen in the camera is straightforward without any dialogue and can be shown worldwide without any translation—it’s a business contract that goes against the man’s best interests and works for the business people.

Don’t Underestimate the Power of 30 Seconds

You can accomplish a lot in a 30-second video. These examples prove the power of a short video to build a brand or sell a product or solution.

How much does it cost to create a 30-second explainer video?

  • Closing words

1. Varpet App Explainer Video

Using video to get your info seen

Mobile applications are now a big part of our lives. And companies that have a video on the App Store or Android Play Market have much better conversion.

People are lazy – they don’t want to download anything before knowing its benefits. They also don’t want to read tiny letters and descriptions from their devices.

That’s why videos work much better when they’re informative and persuade people to download your app.

The Varpet app video is a great example of that. It addresses the main pain point – too much time is wasted looking for a professional worker. Then it talks about the solution and benefits before ending on a strong call to action. It’s a classic and effective solution.

And the result? A 10-15% increase in downloads for Varpet.

Ways this video can inspire you:

  • Captivating visuals
  • Thorough explanation of benefits
  • A strong call to action
  • Result-oriented without being boring

2. Call Me Out Explainer Video

Using a Celebrity the Right Way

This video captures you instantly.

First of all, they use a fitting celebrity – Mike Tompkins .

Of course, just because a celebrity is in a commercial, that doesn’t mean it will sell your product . But the use here isn’t gratuitous, and let’s face it – Mike’s presence sells the message.

Then, in the following scene, you see amazingly executed animation with beautiful motion work and detail.

And the best part is they’re able to explain all the benefits of their app in just 30 seconds with an engaging story told by a known person. Well done!

  • Fast hook with gorgeous visuals
  • Smart use of a celebrity
  • Telling about the benefits throughout the entire story

3. Neat Streets App Explainer Video

Expensive doesn’t mean it will work, and inexpensive doesn’t mean it won’t

This 30-second explainer video is a wonderful example of spending your money wisely and still getting high value.

What I mean is, these days we see a lot of companies invest money in expensive productions and forget about the main goal of an explainer video – simplifying and explaining.

I believe this video cost around $3000 – $4000, but it does its job much better than a lot of videos that cost 10 times more. Let’s check together.

-Does it explain what the app does? Check! -Does it speak to the target audience? Check! -Is there a great hook? Check! -What about a strong call to action? Check!

Guys, spend your money wisely and remember, the main goal of an explainer video is to explain what you do and start a conversation.

  • Simple but effective
  • Results on a small budget

4. Hey You App Explainer Video

A great hook makes a great video

A promise to help people save time is a classic approach that has no expiration date – especially when it comes to keep you from wasting time in line.

This is a problem that we will always have.

Now, there are many products that promise to save time, and creating a video that stands out from the crowd is a challenge.

The solution this video uses is simple but still strong.

A captivating opening with word play and the visual metaphor of someone drowning in the sands of time hook viewers. Then comes the promise of using time in a better way – to spend time on the fun things in life.

Regardless of where the video goes next, this would at least keep you around to see what the product is, right?

  • Clever wordplay to capture attention at the beginning
  • Using visual metaphors

5. Axon Terminal

Hit viewers with triggers they aren’t even thinking about

After watching this 30-second marketing video, you may feel compelled to give them a try. Or at least have a gut feeling that this company can handle what they say they can.

As a video marketing expert , I thought for a while about what it is that works in this video. Why would I be compelled to use this, even though I live in a region that isn’t even covered by its services?

After a while, I figured it out – it’s the music.

See, it’s all about associations.

The music develops the entire atmosphere of those tough and reliable guys that handle big trucks and drive 24/7 to keep our supply chains flowing. It’s a tough guy on an empty road-ready for whatever challenge pops up.

A good, strong piece.

Ways this 30-second explainer video can inspire you:

  • The power of using the right music track

6. AllTrails Pro Explainer Video

Positivity works!

What we love about this video is that it doesn’t scare you with “bad things” that will happen if you don’t download their app.

Rather, it focuses on all the good things you’ll receive; joy, adventure, and a safe trip.

Another great conceptual choice is the main character of the video.

By using a young girl, they are making it clear and obvious that anyone can be safe with the app.

Since the question of safety is always brought up before any trip, the production company did a great job by countering potential objections.

  • Positive concept instead of a negative (using fear tactics, etc.)
  • Handling objections without being obvious about it

7. Bermuda Explainer Video

No “need”? Create one!

How do you create a need for people when it comes to luxury items ?

If you’re Bermuda, you sell the idea that luxury can be yours without the high cost of ownership.

They talk about the 2 happiest days of a boat owner’s life: buying it and selling it.

Then they let you know that you can have all the fun they aren’t having with none of the troubles, like maintenance and spending tons of money. Don’t know how to prepare it or sail it?

No problem, they’ll handle that too!

Another thing we love in this video is that there isn’t a pushy call to action. They don’t say you need to act now, or do something immediately.

They instead let you know that you can be the wise person who makes the right choice. They literally create a need for you.

What I mean is that you don’t really need this service, but the story develops a need you didn’t know you had, and a solution you suddenly realize you want!

  • Creating a need
  • Getting viewers to use their imagination and build a mental picture instead of spoon-feeding them every visual

8. Veruna Clean Animated Explainer Video

Another clever way to get people to pay attention

We always pay attention to something that’s weird or things we don’t recognize.

That stems from our very instincts to stay alive back from ancient times. Deep down, we don’t feel safe until we understand and process what it is we’re looking at.

Of course, we aren’t sitting here trembling from an animated explainer video, but the content grabs us at a subconscious level.

I’m not sure if the production company intended to create this concept for their video, but it works perfectly on social media channels when there is no sound and you need to capture a person’s attention.

Another concept that works here is that of a puzzle.

That works by triggering you to remember details when you solve a puzzle because you actively worked to assemble it.

That’s why some marketing materials make you think and you remember them so well.

  • Speaks to your instincts
  • Uses the interaction to familiarize the product to you

9. Instapay 30 Second Explainer Video

Know where video fits in your funnel

Sometimes you don’t need to dive deep to create a successful marketing message, especially in a 30 seconds explainer video.

It should be as simple as possible.

That’s what’s accomplished in this video. They just talked about the main benefits of the product in a simple manner and simple style.

No complex wording, no fancy visuals. Just a clean message.

Of course, this concept doesn’t always work, especially when you need to attract attention.

However, if you’re looking for a video to use in the later stages of your marketing funnel, it works perfectly.

If you want to learn how to use video the right way in your marketing funnel, check out this article, or schedule a free consultation with a video marketing expert.

  • It’s simplicity
  • Proper usage for specific stages of the sales funnel

Action Item How to Use Explainer Video in Your Sales Funnel

Everyone else is doing it? Then don’t

When all the companies in your industry use the same style for their communication, the risk is high that your message will be lost in the mix.

The Guys from Coind made an effective decision because all the blockchain companies are using the same futuristic design style.

We understand the reasons, but it just isn’t effective anymore.

These guys understood that.

The advertising guru Sir John Hegarty advises, “ When they zig, you zag ,” and it always works when you know how to do it right.

  • Do it a different way. When they zig, you zag

11. Creattie

Our first 30 second explainer video is from the Lottie library Creattie. We chose this ad because the animators do an excellent job of understanding the audience. Creattie targets designers and web developers looking to create unique projects. As a result, the video shows how anyone can use their platform to customize designs to fit their branding and style with Creattie's built-in editor.

30 second videos are plenty of time to deliver the value proposition if you effectively communicate your solution.

Zluri executes its messaging with the help of imagery directly from the service's UI. This gives viewers a comprehensive understanding of the service while identifying a common problem. In just 30 seconds, viewers can see how Zluri can help them organize their SaaS application in one user-friendly dashboard.

13. 2D to 3D with Cinema 4D

We love how Cinema 4D uses tone in their 30 sec video to capture the audience's attention. The VO begins soft, speaking directly to the viewer, then switches to an upbeat and much more enthusiastic tone to showcase the service.

Accompanied by the change in tone, lively music, sound effects, and visually stunning transformations from 2d to 3D, the viewer can't take their eyes off the screen. The ad finishes by emphasizing how easy Cinema 4D is, making for a unique, memorable viewing experience.

14. Catch your Z's Melatonin Gummies

Implementing statistics is a great way to increase conversions in video advertising .

The 30 second video above uses a highly relatable stat to create urgency, a critical component in online advertising. "1 in every 3 individuals don't sleep enough" resonates with many viewers. The statistic raises awareness of the problem and is quickly followed by the advertiser's solution.

15. Semrush

Catching messaging is crucial when putting together your 30 second animation ideas. That's why we featured the Semrush.Trends ad campaign with the genius 3-word slogan – "Data. Insights. Impact."

Implementing a simple, easy-to-remember tagline that reflects your product or service is among the oldest marketing techniques . Semrush executes the strategy flawlessly and incentivizes viewers to try the product for free.

16. Retail Data with The Trade Desk

The Trade Desk delivers a fast-paced 30 second video idea with little to no waste from beginning to end.

You keep your audience entertained with an upbeat voice-over, soundtrack, and visuals. However, while The Trade Desk executes all three essential aspects of production, the video's strong point is the creative transitions. They keep the short scenes moving and viewers interested as they are walked through The Trade Desk's key selling propositions .

17. Qwqer Express

Qwqer Express demonstrates how to resonate with a large demographic when your product or service has mass appeal through character development. The 30 second explainer video features 3 types of characters facing logistical problems - a distressed senior couple, a frustrated businessman, and a new mother.

Everyone can directly relate to or knows someone who falls into these 3 categories, creating the narrative that Qwqer Express can help EVERYONE.

18. OkCupid

In highly competitive industries, like online dating apps, communicating the unique selling proposition is fundamental when curating 30 second animation ideas.

OkCupid executes by clearly identifying the questions it asks users when creating their dating profiles. They use the examples "cat or dog lover" and "religious or free thinker" to communicate to viewers how its personality prompts build comprehensive profiles and effectively match users.

19. Shopify + Aleran Software

Sometimes a 30 second explainer video isn't enough to effectively communicate how a product or service can benefit your audience. So instead of producing a longer video, Shopify presented a brief overview of the B2B platform Aleran, then directed viewers to download a free e-book covering the software extensively.

The strategy will save you production costs, and you can require a name and email for the free download and use the information for future marketing efforts.

Noom combines different animation styles to create a unique look for their 30 second video above. The technique delivers a memorable advertisement, instills branding, and centers focus on the main character.

The ad's protagonist is designed in 2D using Noom's signature red-orange branding on top of a 3-dimensional world. This choice helps the character stand out, and viewers can't help but relate to their struggles. Once the central figure shows improvement after using the Noom app, viewers have built a connection and are incentivized to take the free quiz.

Creating a 30-second explainer video can be quite cost-effective.If you're looking for something straightforward, you're likely to spend about $2,700 to $3,500. If you want a special one that stands out, with extra professional details, it can cost more - between $4,000 and $15,000. This price changes based on how complex it is, the kind of animation, and if you use special voice and  the licensing for voiceovers and music.

To make a short 30-second video that explains something, there are some important tips in this article. And the production process follows some easy steps, which we explain more about right here .

The key challenge is fitting your complete message into a tight 30-second window. It's a tougher task to weave a compelling story that's brief yet covers all bases, ensuring your core message is clearly understood.

For a 30-second video, use about 75 words. This is because in most videos, people speak at a speed of about 2.5 words every second. But to be safe, try to use no more than 70 words. This way, the video doesn't end too suddenly, and everything sounds clear.

Creating a 30-second explainer video usually takes about 4 to 5 weeks. Remember, this time doesn't count the hours you might need for any changes or for talks about different parts of the video like the storyboard or the design style.

Closing Words

We hope that this post gives you inspiration for your own 30 second explainer video.

Just like every other piece of marketing, an explainer video is a tool. It must be crafted properly , and then used for the right job in the right way. If you’d like to consult with our marketing expert to see how an explainer video would fit in your strategy, schedule a free meeting at any time!

Ukraine war latest: Ukraine 'destroys Russian Black Sea minesweeper'

Ukraine's navy says it has destroyed a Russian Black Sea fleet minesweeper. Meanwhile, an attack on a residential area in Kharkiv left six civilians injured - with Ukraine saying it is investigating the bombing as a potential war crime.

We're pausing our coverage of the Ukraine war for the moment.

Scroll through the blog below to catch up on today's developments.

Russian forces likely intend to launch the second phase of their offensive following their anticipated seizure of Vovchansk, three miles from the Russian border, according to the latest analysis from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said yesterday that Russian forces advanced between five and 10 kilometres in the northern Kharkiv region before Ukrainian forces stopped Russian advances.

The ISW says Russian forces are currently prioritising the seizure of Vovchansk because it is likely one of the remaining tactical objectives of the first phase, noting it is the largest settlement immediately on the border that would provide Russian forces with a staging ground to prepare for and launch the second phase.

The Russian objectives of the second phase are not yet clear, the ISW says. It could be to expand the "buffer zone" further in width along the border, or to advance closer to Kharkiv city.

Russian forces have also recently intensified efforts to seize the operationally significant town of Chasiv Yar, the ISW says, seeking to exploit the pressure on stretched Ukrainian forces.

The number of people killed in Russian strikes on a Kharkiv recreation area has risen from five to six, with an employee of the resort still unaccounted for.

At least 27 people were injured in the two airstrikes, which came about 20 minutes apart, according to an update from the Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office on Telegram.

The missing employee was fishing by a reservoir when the attack happened, the update said.

Two police officers are among the injured, it added.

The UK's defence secretary has confirmed the military aid that has been "rushed" to Ukraine.

Grant Shapps said the "world cannot wait" as he urged nations to "step up" and support Kyiv's fight against Russia.

Among the items sent by the UK are 80 defence missiles, one million rounds of ammunition and 20 Viking amphibious protected vehicles.

Mr Shapps' tweet comes after he urged allies to give permission to Ukraine to use the weapons they have supplied against targets in Russian-annexed Crimea.

"We have been very, very clear with the world and helpful to Ukraine - for example, providing permissions for our weapons to be used throughout the whole of Ukraine ... that includes Crimea, which was taken by Putin in 2014," he told the BBC's Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg:

"Now, we do not get into how we would allow targeting with our weapons to be used outside of that. But we do provide our weapons to Ukraine in order for them to defend their country."

Pressed on Volodymyr Zelensky's calls for weapons to be available for strikes inside Russia, Mr Shapps said: "I can't go into the specifics of those private conversations about how the weapons are precisely used."

Finland will propose a law that would see it turn back migrants to Russia without processing their asylum applications - despite this potentially breaching its international human rights commitments.

Finland shut its border with Russia last year to stop a growing number of arrivals from countries including Syria and Somalia.

It accused Moscow of weaponising migration against Finland and the European Union, an assertion the Kremlin denies.

"As this phenomenon is in Russia's hands - who comes, where from and when, to Finland's border - we cannot permit it," Prime Minister Petteri Orpo told reporters.

"Therefore we have to augment our legislation."

The bill would allow border authorities to turn back asylum seekers who cross from Russia, with or without using force. But it would not apply to children and disabled people.

The proposal will go to parliament next week, where it will be submitted to the constitutional committee for review. It will need five-sixths of votes cast in parliament to pass - the high bar required for constitutional matters - and success is not certain.

The General Staff of Ukraine's armed forces have published their daily operational update...

It says "intense" fighting is ongoing along almost the entire frontline, with 78 "combat clashes" already today, compared to 110 for the entirety of yesterday.

The Russian forces became increasingly active on the Kharkiv front, with seven clashes reported so far today.

The situation in Kharkiv is "dynamic", it says, with Russian troops trying to push back the Ukrainian units near Vovchansk, Starytsia and Lyptsi.

Russia said on Saturday its forces had captured the village of Starytsia, bringing the total number of villages it has taken in the Kharkiv region to 13.

Russia has been pushing ahead with a ground offensive in recent days that opened a new front in northeastern Ukraine's Kharkiv region and put further pressure on Kyiv's overstretched military.

Russian forces have also increased their activity on the Siversk front and are attempting to break through Ukrainian defences in Bilohorivka, Verkhnokamianske and Rozdolivka, the update says.

Oleksandr Usyk defeated British boxing star Tyson Fury to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world on Saturday night.

But Fury says the outcome was down to the Ukraine war.

He disputed his loss after the match, saying: "I believe I won that fight. I think he won a few rounds but I won the majority of them.

"His country is at war, so people are siding with the country at war. Make no mistake, I won that fight in my opinion."

In response, Ukrainian Usyk said he was "ready for rematch," but later added: "I don't think about rematch now, I want to rest."

After today's attacks President Volodymyr Zelenskyy again called on Western allies to supply Kyiv with additional air defence systems to protect Kharkiv and other cities.

He said there were reports "every hour" of fresh attacks.

"Missiles, bombs, artillery are the only things that allow Russia to continue its aggression," he said on Telegram.

"The world can stop Russian terror - and to do so, the lack of political will among leaders must be overcome."

"Two Patriots for Kharkiv will make a fundamental difference," he said, referring to Patriot missile defence systems.

Air defence systems for other cities and sufficient support for soldiers on the front line would ensure Russia's defeat, the president added.

This morning, Defence Secretary Grant Shapps said the delay in giving aid to Ukraine gave Russia a window of opportunity for its new offensive.

Five people have died in strikes on two villages in the Kupiansk district in Kharkiv, local officials say.

It brings the number of people killed in the Kharkiv region today to 10, after five people died in strikes on a recreation area in a northern suburb of the city of Kharkiv.

Local governor Oleh Syniehubov said Russian forces shelled two villages with a self-propelled multiple rocket launcher.

At least nine people were injured in the attacks.

We're getting photos of the aftermath of strikes on a recreation area just outside Kharkiv which killed five people and left at least 16 injured.

The pictures show a lakeside resort, where shortly before the attacks local residents were "resting, enjoying a normal way of life", according to a local police inspector (see our 11.54 post).

Parademics and police tend to the wounded, but were also caught up in the second strike, which came about 20 minutes after the first.

These are known as "double tap" strikes, which kill or injure emergency workers at the scene of strike impacts.

Here are the latest photos from the scene...
