Pga tour releases official schedule for 2024; fedex champ to get $25 million, share this article.

pga tour schedule 2024 dates

The PGA Tour officially released its 2024 schedule Monday.

The season will be a calender-year schedule for the first time since 2012. There are 36 regular-season events, down from 44 this season. There are still three FedEx Cup Playoff events.

The fall part of the schedule will finalize the top 125 for the 2025 season as only the top 70 finishers in the FEC standings earn their way into the postseason, a move that started this season.

The first regular-season event in 2024 is now called The Sentry and will be followed by the Sony Open in Hawaii. The first stateside event will be The American Express in Palm Desert, California.

“We are excited about the roll-out of the PGA Tour’s reimagined schedule and what the season will offer to our fans: a January start with stars competing head-to-head more often, alongside the weekly drama of life-altering moments and the emergence of new stars,” said commissioner Jay Monahan.

The are eight “signature events”, which were initially called designated events but had the moniker “elevated” events during the 2022-23 season.

The eight are:

  •  AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am
  • The Genesis Invitational
  • Arnold Palmer Invitational
  • RBC Heritage
  • Wells Fargo Championship
  • The Memorial Tournament
  • The Travelers Championship

The three player-hosted invitationals – Genesis, APR, Memorial – will have a 36-hole cut; the other five will not.

The Farmers Insurance Open in January in San Diego will again feature a Saturday finish for the third consecutive season.

For the third year, there are three tournaments that will also be part of the DP World Tour’s Race to Dubai: Genesis Scottish Open, the event scheduled for July 11-14 (formerly the Barbasol Championship) and the Barracuda Championship in July.

There is a break in the schedule for the Olympic men’s competition in France in August.

The playoffs are the FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind in Memphis, the BMW Championship at Castle Pines Golf Club in Castle Rock, Colorado, for the first time (Castle Pines hosted the International from 1986-2006) and the Tour Championship, which is once again at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.

The FedEx Cup champion in 2024 will bank a $25 million bonus.

PGA Tour Schedule 2024: Dates, Locations, Changes, & Signature Events

Author image

The complete schedule for the 2024 PGA Tour season has been officially released.

At the beginning of the year, all players start with zero FedEx Cup points, giving everyone a fresh start for the upcoming season.

In 2024, the competition will officially begin on January 4th. There are officially 36 events starting in January with the Sentry Tournament of Champions.

There will be eight signature events with elevated purses, four major championships, 18 full-field events, and five additional tournaments.

The new schedule is designed to up the stakes, delivering maximum consequences and drama every week.

According to PGA Tour Commissioner, Jay Monahan, the schedule will challenge their players, connecting every tournament resulting in higher stakes every week.

The 2024 PGA Tour Schedule

There will be eight signature events that will feature increased purses and FedEx Cup points.

The newest edition to the signature events will be the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. As an signature event, it’ll give newer players a chance to qualify for other tournaments throughout the year.

Unlike this past season, signature events are only expected to feature 70-80 players. Every signature event will require players to qualify via FedEx Cup rankings or by playing their way in.

In total, the Tour will have 33 events played in the U.S., two in Mexico and Scotland. The PGA Tour will also stop in Canada, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico.

There’s more on the line this year too and the purses are bigger than ever. While not all purses have been announced, most signature events are valued at $20 million or more.

Check out the final 2024 PGA Tour schedule below.

2024 FedEx Cup Playoffs Schedule

Along with the 2024 PGA Tour schedule, the FedEx Cup Playoffs have also been announced for next year. Following the same format, there will be three events with only the top 70 qualifying for the first event at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

The season will round out with the Tour Championship when the winner at East Lake Golf Club will be announced.

No purses have been revealed for the 2024 FedEx Cup Playoffs yet.

Check out the FedEx Cup Playoffs schedule below.

2024 Masters TV schedule, coverage, channel, live stream, how to watch online, streaming, golf tee times

How to watch every memorable moment of the 2024 masters on tv or streaming live.

2024-masters-flag-schedule-g.jpg

The most wonderful time of the golf season has arrived once again as the beauty of April surrounds Augusta National Golf Club this week. The 2024 Masters is set to be another star-studded affair with a loaded field featuring the best golfers in the world. Jon Rahm will be defending the green jacket, while Scottie Scheffler enters as the favorite looking to win his second Masters in three years. Rory McIlroy will once again seek the completion of his career grand slam, and five-time Masters champion Tiger Woods will be back in action for just the second time this season. Most others in the field will be looking to don the green jacket for the first time on Sunday.

While attending the Masters is a dream for many, simply being able to watch golf on the grandest stage of them all is an incredible treat each year, and we here at CBS Sports are thrilled to bring you wall-to-wall coverage of the Masters throughout this week.

CBS Sports offers extensive, week-long coverage across all its platforms with its traditional 18-hole broadcast coverage beginning with the third round on Saturday and final-round action on Sunday. Jim Nantz, in his 39th consecutive year covering the Masters, serves as host for the 37th time. 2008 Masters champion Trevor Immelman joins Nantz as the lead analyst at the Masters for the second time. Nantz and Immelman link up with CBS Sports' incredible golf team, including on-course reporter Dottie Pepper and the legendary Verne Lundquist, who will be calling his final Masters.

Scheffler, McIlroy and Rahm top the odds board. Just behind them are the likes of Xander Schauffele, Brooks Koepka and Jordan Spieth, who are expected to be hotly in contention. Spieth, the 2015 Masters champion, is still seeking to recover from the frustrating end to his 2016 tournament, while Koepka hopes to complete the third leg of the career grand slam with a PGA Championship and U.S. Open already under his cap.

Enough talking about it. Here's how you can watch as much Masters as possible throughout the week. Be sure to stick with CBS Sports for live coverage throughout and download the CBS Sports app  to watch Masters Live on your mobile device.

The 2024 PGA Tour season promises to deliver an unprecedented blend of tradition.

The PGA Tour has officially unveiled its highly anticipated schedule for the 2024 PGA Tour season. This year’s schedule is set to bring a wave of changes, marking a significant shift as it embraces a calendar format for the first time since 2012.

The 2024 PGA Tour schedule boasts a total of 36 events, including the prestigious four major championships . A focal point of the upcoming season will be the Players Championship, positioned alongside eight signature events, formerly known as designated events. Notably, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am will step into the spotlight, replacing the Phoenix Open as a signature event for the 2024 season.

PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan said while revealing 2024’s tournament calendar (via Yahoo Sports):

“We are excited about the roll-out of the PGA Tour’s reimagined schedule and what the season will offer to our fans: a January start with stars competing head-to-head more often, alongside the weekly drama of life-altering moments and the emergence of new stars.”

No-cut signature events and major changes

In a bold move, five signature events—the Sentry, Pebble, RBC Heritage, Wells Fargo Championship, and Travelers Championship—will break from tradition by eliminating cuts and featuring a limited field size. This change promises an exciting dynamic as players face the challenge of navigating the courses without the safety net of cuts.

Conversely, the remaining three signature events—the Genesis Invitational, Arnold Palmer Invitational, and Memorial Tournament—will maintain the 36-hole cut tradition, along with the Players Championship and the revered majors. Alongside these adjustments, fans can also anticipate an increase in prize purses for the signature events, adding an extra layer of excitement to the competition.

The schedule’s structure will see most signature events arranged back-to-back, with two or three regular events preceding them. Despite these shifts, the FedEx Cup structure will remain unchanged, ensuring a thrilling conclusion to the season. The playoffs will see 70 players making the initial cut, followed by 50 advancing to the BMW Championship, and a final 30 players contending for glory at the Tour Championship.

Masters 2024 preview: Full schedule and how to watch golf major action live

Scottie Scheffler puts the Green Jacket on 2023 Masters champion Jon Rahm

The 88th Masters Tournament gets underway at Georgia’s Augusta National on Thursday (11 April) with Jon Rahm defending his Green Jacket.

Much of the build-up to the first men’s golf major of 2024 has revolved around the Spaniard who signed a multi-million dollar deal in December to leave the PGA Tour for the Saudi-backed LIV Golf series .

Last June, the rival tours had announced plans for a merger. But negotiations remain ongoing with PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monaghan admitting last month that a deal would take time.

Rahm has joined fellow major winners Brooks Koepka , Phil Mickelson , Dustin Johnson and Cameron Smith in the three-day team format although LIV results are still not recognised in the Official Golf World Rankings.

And the former world number one, who played a key role in Europe’s triumph at last October’s Ryder Cup in Rome, risks losing his DP World Tour (formerly European Tour) card which would make him ineligible for the next edition in September 2025.

One of the traditions of Masters week is that the defending champion chooses a menu for the Champions Dinner on the Tuesday. With the help of world-famous chef and humanitarian Jose Andres , Rahm is serving up a veritable Basque feast including his own grandmother’s ‘Classic Lentil Stew’.

Augusta will be the first time Rahm has teed it up alongside his former PGA Tour colleagues this year. Since his departure, Scottie Scheffler has consolidated his position at the top of the world rankings with seven top-10 finishes including back-to-back wins in the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the PLAYERS Championship.

Scheffler, who won the Masters in 2022, became the first golfer to retain the PLAYERS Championship title after a final round 64 saw him overturn a five-stroke deficit to reigning Olympic champion Xander Schauffele .

Amen Corner, the infamous stretch of Augusta’s back nine from the 11th to the 13th, has been key to the destination of the Masters title in the past.

The 13th, known as 'Azalea', was lengthened ahead of last year's tournament and became the toughest of the four par-5s on the course. Expect Amen Corner to witness more drama this year in the battle for the Green Jacket.

  • How to qualify for golf at Paris 2024

Who is playing at the 2024 Masters golf tournament?

Unlike the other three men’s majors, the Masters is an invitation event which means no qualifying tournaments or alternates.

Automatic invites go to the top 50 in the world plus previous Masters champions and winners and high-finishers in recent professional and amateur competitions as well as last year’s majors.

Schauffele and Rio 2016 gold medallist Justin Rose are both in the field thanks to being ranked in the world’s top 50.

Germany’s two-time winner Bernhard Langer , who had previously announced that this would be his last Masters, misses out having torn an Achilles tendon while playing pickleball in February.

Five years after his last of five triumphs at Augusta, Tiger Woods could make his 26th Masters appearance despite having played just once this year - a short-lived outing at February’s Genesis Invitational where the 48-year-old pulled out during round two with influenza.

2024 Masters Tournament - Schedule

Wednesday 10 April : Par 3 contest starts at 12pm (Eastern Daylight Time/EDT).

Thursday 11 April : First round, start time to be announced, preceded by honorary starters hitting opening drives

Friday 12 April : Second round, followed by the cut after 36 holes, with only the top 50 players and ties making the weekend.

Saturday 13 April : Third round. First tee-time will be around 10am in Georgia.

Sunday 14 April : Fourth round, followed by Green Jacket ceremony and trophy presentation after the final player has completed the 18th hole.

2024 Masters Tournament - Players to watch

Scottie scheffler.

Scheffler remains in incredible form this year. Having retained his PLAYERS Championship title, he almost made it three wins in as many tournaments at the Texas Houston Open before losing out by one shot to Germany’s Stephan Jaeger .

The 27-year-old holds a comfortable lead at the top of the world rankings from Rory McIlroy , but his 2022 Masters win remains his only major triumph.

When it comes to ball-striking, Scheffler is simply peerless in this era. Only Tiger Woods has gained more strokes from tee to green over a two-year span , and had a better PGA Tour season average than Scheffler’s 68.63 in 2023.

As McIlroy told Golf.com in February, “He’s hit the ball as good, if not better, than Tiger hit it in 2000, which is the benchmark for all of us.”

For the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Scheffler - whose putting had long been the weakest part of his game - switched to a mallet putter. And the man who was ranked just 144th out of 186 in putting strokes gained on last year’s PGA Tour was suddenly transformed.

He did not miss a single putt from inside 15 feet on the weekend as he surged to victory, and then followed up in the PLAYERS Championship despite a neck injury which stopped him swinging the club at full speed.

Based on his recent showings, and form over the past couple of years, he will take some stopping in Augusta.

Ludvig Åberg

With Rahm’s form something of an unknown, McIlroy failing to make the top-10 since his win in January’s Dubai Desert Classic, and Viktor Hovland out of form, Europe’s best hope at the Masters could be tournament debutant Ludvig Åberg .

After turning professional last June, the 24-year-old Swede - who was named best college player in the United States two years in a row - won two tournaments in the second half of 2023. His first, at the RSM Classic, saw him tie the lowest total in PGA Tour history (253) and set a new record for three consecutive rounds (64-61-61).

This year, he was second in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am and eighth in the PLAYERS Championship. His accuracy and length off the tee plus a solid all-round game look tailor-made for the Augusta National.

In August 2023, he told DP World Tour , ”In the next three years, I would like to be a winner on the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour. I would love to be a top-10 player in the world and I would love to play the Ryder Cup.”

Åberg's eighth place at the PLAYERS Championship saw him rise to number nine in the world rankings, and ensured he ticked off all of those goals just over nine months after turning pro .

Fuzzy Zoeller in 1979 was the last of three men to win the Masters on debut with Keegan Bradley , at the 2011 PGA Championship, the last of six players to triumph in their first major appearance. And Åberg, a serial winner at amateur and professional level, has as good a shot as anyone of joining them.

Hideki Matsuyama

Japan’s only male major champion is back to try and regain the Green Jacket he won in 2021 .

After his fifth place at last year’s PLAYERS Championship, Hideki Matsuyama went 21 tournaments without a top-10 finish and dropped outside the top 50.

But playing pain-free after a neck injury which had hampered him for two years, he ended that run in style with victory at February’s Genesis Invitational . Trailing by six strokes after 54 holes, Matsuyama carded a 62 - the second-lowest round in course history - to clinch his first title for over two years by three shots.

Having finished tied for 16th last year, even with a bad neck, the 32-year-old from Shikoku Island could well be in the mix again on Masters Sunday.
