Ndumo Safaris is a Namibian company, based in the Zambezi region (formerly known as the Caprivi Strip) of Namibia, from where we operate one of very few companies that specializes in hunting dangerous game. Namibia is one of the most diverse countries in Africa, and is considered an absolute hunters’ paradise.

We own and operate three camps in the Zambezi area, with one also doubling as a fishing camp. This puts us in the unique position to offer the discerning hunter totally free-range areas for dangerous-game hunting.

To cater for additional demand outside of what we can offer in these three areas, we also offer hunts in other Caprivi and Kavango conservancies, as well as in Damaraland and Kaokoland conservancies in the northwestern region of Namibia, as well as on private ranch land in both Namibia and South Africa.

Ndumo Safaris is fully owned and operated by highly experienced professional hunter, Karl Stumpfe, who is assisted by various dangerous game PH’s. Our areas are Bwabwata East concession (Park area) as well as Sobbe, Balyerwa and Sikunga communal conservancies. This puts us in the unique position to offer the discerning hunter totally free-range areas for dangerous game hunting in Namibia.

Property & Location

Accommodation is in our comfortable tented bungalows with a central dining and lounge area and onsite chef. We try to maintain exclusivity for each hunting group.

Bwabwata East is a hunting paradise, with the vegetation ranging from the swampy floodplains of the Kwando, to huge forestry areas consisting of Camelthorn, Leadwood, Teak, Mahogany and other big trees, to sections of cluster leaved Terminalia. Hunting is good from April to November in this area. Sobbe Conservancy consists mostly of Mopane woodlands, with a belt of Camel thorn and cluster-leafed Terminalia running through it. It is a dry area, and thus should be hunted in the wetter months for elephant and buffalo. Balyerwa Conservancy is a mosaic of woodland and grasslands, bordered by the Kwando River. The Linyanti swamps begin here, and the area has many 'channels' and islands. Elephant, buffalo, hippo and croc are besthunted from May until November, while plains game can be hunted all year round. Sikunga Conservancy - approximately 60% of the area consists of the Zambezi floodplains or open grasslands,with clumps of tree "islands", while the other part consists of cluster leaved Terminalia woodland. Hunting isbest from July until November.

Bwabwata National Park is a relatively newly proclaimed park, in what is known as the Kavango and Zambezi regions of Namibia. The Eastern hunting block is known as the Kwando Core area, or Bwabwata East, while the Western block is known as the Buffalo core area, or Bwabwata West. Ndumo Safaris is in the fortunate positiont o have been awarded the Eastern hunting block of this much-coveted Park, and thus can offer exceptional elephant, buffalo or leopard safaris from our well-appointed safari camp on the banks of the Kwando river. The camp is built on wooden platforms, with canvas and reed walls and thatched roofs. All rooms have a view ontothe Kwando river. We can provide accommodation for up to 10 guests at a time, of which a maximum of 6 can be hunters.

Unfenced area bordering the Mudumu National Park. As it is a communal conservancy, there are villages in theNorthern part of the concession, but none in the core hunting area. It holds good numbers of plains game species like roan, sable, zebra, kudu and eland.

Sikunga Conservancy is our camp on the bank of a side channel of the Zambezi River, which also forms the North-Eastern border of the concession, and the international border between Namibia and Zambia.

Elephant sporting up to 65 pound tusks have been hunted in Bwabwata East. This area also holds some of the best trophy buffalo in the Caprivi.

Jan Oelofse Hunting Safaris, our experienced and passionate team of professional hunters, will provide you with one of the best hunting experiences in Namibia and all of Africa. We are a family-run operation, established by the famous conservationist Jan Oelofse and his family in Namibia in 1975. Since the passing of this great man, our beloved husband, father, entrepreneur, inventor, artist, mentor and friend to many, the Oelofse family Annette and Alex with Carola, are carrying on the legacy he left behind. Our hunts are customized to accommodate the expectations of hunters from various backgrounds and ages, we welcome families with children, bow-hunters and disabled hunters alike. Being above all passionate conservationists, our dream is to offer hunts such to naturally sustain the environment and all its animals, with the interest of the current and the future generations of animals and hunters at heart. In Jan Oelofse’s words, our aim is to: “Always give back more to nature than you take out.” We invite you to experience exactly that which our forefathers called Africa!

Jan Oelofse Legacy Award

The Jan Oelofse Legacy Award has been offering hunts annually to disabled hunters since 1992, including 10 trophy animals, daily rates and skinning.

Previously, this award was part of the SCI Pathfinder Award, but unfortunately it was decided to no longer include this opportunity at the SCI events.

We have wholeheartedly chosen to continue this legacy in the name of conservationist Jan Oelofse, who was the founder of our outfit, and the initiator behind this award many years ago. Our facilities are fully equipped to cater for disabled hunters, offering hunts to outdoorsmen and women in wheelchairs, from lightly disabled candidates to quadriplegics. Our professional hunter Rudie de Klerk is exceptionally experienced in guiding these hunts, having suffered and recovered from a disability inflicted by an elephant attack some time ago. The recipients of this award have often found this experience life-changing, and have given us the opportunity to meet extraordinarily inspirational people, who have succeeded against the odds. It would be our greatest honour and privilege to continue hosting hunters who deserve to be rewarded for continuing a shared passion for the outdoors.

We offer a large amount of different game that can be hunted on either in the Khomas Highlands or in the Kalahari area. Game species include for example zebra, kudu, oryx, blue wildebeest, red hartebeest, eland, springbok, warthog and many more.

Great Guide! 1 1/2 hours stalk through the mountains, Zebra missed, Oryx seen and then the Kudu as a final reward. Next day Isaac was guiding successfully again.
