Tea Around Town – An Afternoon Tea Bus in NYC

Tea Around Town – An Afternoon Tea Bus in NYC

Imagine enjoying afternoon tea while driving around New York City and seeing the sights. That is exactly what TopView Sightseeing offers with their Tea Around Town bus. I’ve lost track of how many friends and family sent me videos they saw online about it. They recently offered tickets for me to experience it for myself. I was excited to be able to share this experience with my mom since she was the one who started my love of tea.

What is Tea Around Town?

The experience, would i recommend it, want to check out tea around town for yourself use code teaforme5 for 5% off.

Tea Around Tow is a sightseeing tour bus that serves afternoon tea in New York City. The tour leaves from Bryant Park between 5th and 6th Avenue and takes approximately 90 minutes. There are two different ticket options. Premium admission is $109 per person. It includes priority seating, an enhanced menu, and a glass of prosecco. Standard admission is $69 per person and has a slightly smaller menu. The cost is the same for adults and children (ages 3 and older). There is a minimum purchase of two tickets.

The picture below shows the menu that was served. There were several vegan and gluten-free options, but you were not able to customize the selections. Our servers, Umberto and Kenny, did ask if we had any allergies. Our tray had deviled eggs instead of the Sunburst Wheel. Neither of us like lobster so it would have been nice if we had been able to swap the Lobster Love out rather than have them go to waste.

Things did not start on a good foot. My reservations were canceled twice in a row with less than 24 hours notice because they had not met their ticket quota for those trips. I was only coming from New Jersey, but I can imagine how disappointing that would be for someone who was traveling from far away. We did manage to get onto a trip scheduled for earlier in the day after calling customer service.

Once we were in Bryant Park, it was not very obvious where the bus would be leaving from. We stood in the exact spot that their directions had said to, but there was no bus in sight. I spotted staff from Top View Sightseeing much further down the block and asked where we should be. They were a bit snippy in their response to me and several other people. It would have been helpful if there had been a sign or some other indication of where this specific tour leaves from. It is a very busy area with a lot of different buses coming and going.

While we waited for the bus to arrive our guide, Suzanna, quizzed everyone with some tea trivia. Since we had premium admission we were seated on the top tier of the bus. It was lavishly decorated with silk flowers and rhinestones with pink and gold accents.

tour bus tea party

A tiered tray with all of the food was already waiting for us at the table. My mom had never had a real afternoon tea like this so she was excited to dig in. Rather than having us select a tea, the servers poured a small amount of different selections throughout the trip. The teas were brewed ahead of time and poured out of caraffes. The drinking cups were plastic, which isn’t ideal but understandable given that we were on a moving bus. I thought it was smart that cup holders were built into the tables. Hot Apple Spice was my favorite.

I’m happy to report that all of the savory and sweet options were very tasty. The pumpkin and chocolate mousse tarts were probably my favorites. The restrooms were out of order during our trip, which can be a problem when drinking so much tea. Thankfully Bryant Park is home to one of the nicest public restrooms in New York City so we went straight there when the trip was finished. We had originally planned to go out for dinner that evening but found we were both still full from tea.

tour bus tea party

The route for Tea Around Town took us past many New York City landmarks such as Grand Central Station, Times Square, Radio City Music Hall, and Central Park. Suzanna pointed out landmarks and interesting facts. She also serenaded us with several songs. I did not know that was an aspect of this tour, but I enjoyed it very much. The Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center had just gone up a few days prior but we couldn’t see it because it was covered in scaffolding. I worked in the city for many years and still go there often so I was very familiar with everything we saw, but it was fun to get to play tourist for the day.

tour bus tea party

Despite the issues that we had at the beginning, my mom and I very much enjoyed the experience with Tea Around Town. It was a unique and interesting way to see the city while enjoying tea and small bites. The pricing is pretty on par with the other afternoon teas that are offered in the city, especially considering that the tour is included. It’s not something that I am likely to do often, but I would go again in the future if friends or family are visiting.

Have you ever been to Tea Around Town? What did you think of it? I would love to hear from you in the comments below!

Is there a ladies room on the bus?

There is a restroom (unisex, I believe. Unfortunately it was out of order when I went.

Did you tip the driver and the hostesses as there are so ma y added fees when ai am purchases 12 tickets

Yes, the servers stood by the exit with a basket for tips at the end of the tour. I would definitely check with the company to see if they might be able to offer a discount for such a large group.

Do you think this tour is better during the day or would it still be fun at night. We were thinking of taking the 7:30 pm tour. Thinking the city lights would be pretty but maybe there’s some things on the tour that look better in daylight.

I definitely think the tour would be fun at night. The lights in the city very pretty, especially around Rockefeller Center.

Do you know if they allow you to bring your own alcoholic beverage on board?

I don’t believe they do. When I took the tour they gave a glass of Prosecco but that seems to have been changed to non-alcoholic options.

Are all the seats on the top? how would the views be on the bottom of the bus?

There are seats on both the top and bottom. I didn’t sit on the bottom, but I do think the view might less advantageous for picture taking.

what are the sights on this tour

I’m sure the routes are subject to change but when I went the bus went by Bryant Park, Central Park, Columbus Circle, Times Square, Radio City Music Hall, and St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

where can I purchase tickets for New York?

Please contact Tea Around Town directly. This is post is only a review of my experience and I am not affliated with the company. Thank you!

Tea Around Town

You can now take a charming afternoon tea bus tour around NYC

Pinkies up!

Afternoon tea may be more synonymous with our cousins across the pond, but that doesn't mean New Yorkers don't know their way around a cup of Earl Grey and some finger sandwiches. And now you can enjoy that midday cuppa and all of those fancy little fixings while touring around town on a decked-out sightseeing bus.

RECOMMENDED:  The best afternoon tea NYC has to offer, with scones and all the traditional trappings

TopView Sightseeing has launched Tea Around Town , a first-of-its-kind three-course afternoon tea experience aboard one of the company's double-decker buses, which has been transformed into a " mobile  tea  room” complete with tables set for two and four people (the whole bus seats 42 guests), pink-and-white striped seats, gilded place settings and floral garlands throughout. It gives Bridgerton and Barbie all at once.

On Sunday, we hopped on the bus to check out this sweet new thing to do and it was almost everything we’d hoped for.

Along with enjoying bottomless tea and three tiers of scones with the requisite clotted cream and jam, sandwiches (classic cucumber, egg-mayonnaise) and sweet treats like macarons and mini fruit tarts, there was live music from a singer onboard and informative commentary about the iconic NYC landmarks featured throughout the 90-minute bus tour, including Rockefeller Center , Radio City Music Hall and the Chrysler Building , all of which we saw through the glass roof.

Tea Around Town

There are two tiers of tickets options to Tea Around Town: Standard Admission, which includes the standard afternoon tea menu and private table seating for $69 (not including fees), and Premium Admission, which boosts the experience with priority boarding, a premium enhanced menu with luxe items like mini lobster rolls and Wagyu beef tartare, and a glass of sparkling wine for $109 (excluding fees).

Take a peek at the standard and premium food menus:

Tea Around Town

While the sparkling wine was a refreshing addition, the extra bites weren’t enough to warrant paying more, in our opinion.

The overall experience was lovely—and maybe the best way to take in midtown—and a really nice afternoon out in NYC.

The bus rolls out every day at noon, along with a 2:30pm tour on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

All you need to know about tea around town

What is the tea around town experience.

Tea Around Town NYC is a British-style afternoon tea experience but with a twist! Rather than sitting in a tea room, you’re cruising around mid-town in a double-decker pink bus. You’re served a variety of teas along with some bite-sized foods like savory sandwiches, scones, and pastries. In addition, you get to learn about the important NYC landmarks and are immersed in live entertainment by the staff.

Different Ticket Types for Tea Around Town

There are two different ticket tiers for the Tea Around Town experience. You’ll have the option of either the Standard Ticket for $69 and Premium Admission for $109. The difference between the two is supposed to be priority boarding, an expanded menu, and the option of a non-alcoholic mocktail. Both tickets include a branded plastic cup as a souvenir.

When checking in, on my specific tour, there was no distinction between the Premium ticket holders vs Standard ones. Our table was also pre-assigned so priority boarding isn’t a perk if you ask me. In terms of food, the Premium ticket menu has some additional items and you get a choice of non-alcoholic rose or mocktail. If alcohol was indeed included in the higher price, I’d say pay the extra amount. However, with what is currently included and at a difference of almost $40 between the two, I’d say the Standard Option is sufficient unless you’d like the additional food items.

The Tea Around Town Bus

The overly decorated bus was my favorite thing about this tour. The decoration, details, and overall vibe were one of a kind. The top seating was great for viewing and the roof was transparent allowing in extra light. We were seated among a pastel winter wonderland theme and I believe they change the decor seasonally as well.

The seating on the bus is very comfortable and there was also a bathroom on board. I thought that drinking hot tea on a moving bus might be challenging but our driver was super smooth! Happy to say that there were no spills or food drops throughout the tour.

Food & Beverages Options

As mentioned earlier, the main difference between the two ticket types is the type of menu you are offered. So let’s dive deeper into what the menu entails! Note that all these items are bite-sized as they are meant to be during teatime.

Both tickets include the following items:

  • Savory: Cucumber & Cream Cheese Sandwich, Light and Green Egg Mayo Sandwich, Truffled Deviled Eggs, Plain Scone with Preserve and Creme on the side
  • Sweets: Chocolate Mousse Tart, Pumpkin Tart, Macaron
  • Tea and Coffee: Choices vary based on the tour, we got offered Earl Grey, Hibiscus Tea and Peppermint (our ride was not being offered coffee and I didn’t inquire about it)

Additional items included on the Premium Menu:

  • Savory: Mini lox Bite on Pumpernickel, Village Rib Sandwich, Mini Lobster Puff
  • Sweet: Cheesecake, Mini Eclair, Lemon Meringue and Pumpkin Cheese Cake (these slightly vary between the tours)
  • Mocktail: Refresh Rose or Mockberrry Mint Delight

Overall I found the food very tasty between all the options! My favorite items were the Village Rib Sandwich and the Cheesecake. The non-alcoholic rose was very nice too but I do wish they served a glass of champagne instead. Teas were indeed delicious but we were only offered 3 out of all the ones the menu lists. Not sure if that’s the case on every ride but you won’t have the choice of all as listed on the menu.

IMG 8508 scaled Local Adventures

Entertainment

The route had two types of entertainment. First, we were given some basic info about the iconic landmarks we drove past, and then second was the staff that sang on the route. Honestly, our performer could have easily been on Broadway! She had an amazing voice and at first, I didn’t even realize she was singing live! She sang some romantic NYC tunes as we sipped on our tea.

The staff taking care of us was lovely and they went above and beyond to make sure you’re happy with your experience.

Route Driven

I am including the picture of the route you’ll drive from the Tea Around Town website so you can get an idea of what you’ll see. Note that you don’t pause at any locations, just drive past them. If you’ve never been to NYC, the route will highlight the most popular spots in the city.

FAQ About Tea Around Town in NYC

What should i wear for afternoon tea on the bus.

This is quite a popular activity for girls’ weekend, a birthday or a bachelorette party. You’ll see groups dressed in themes, in pink or in traditional afternoon tea attire. In my opinion it’s a fun way to engage with the activity and lets you take amazing pictures against the stunning background on the bus! However, most people on our tour wore normal casual clothing as well, so if you’re not in the mood for a coordinated outfit, don’t worry! You’ll fit in no matter what!

IMG 7807 jpg scaled Local Adventures

Where does the tour meet?

The tour meets at a location near Bryant Park. They provide the coordinates for you but the bus is slightly up the street. It might not be in the exact location but you can’t miss the giant pink bus parked ahead. There are many (6-10) tours throughout the day so confirm that your bus is the one that’s boarding new people rather than un-loading the previous group.

Boarding the Bus

The check-in process was not smooth at all to be completely transparent. There are no indications of how to line up and who to check in with. You have to scan your tickets with one person and then get checked in by another. No one also checked who had VIP and there was no priority boarding at all. The tables are pre-assigned so it doesn’t really matter when you get on, but I wish the organization was a little less chaotic than it was.

DSC06202 Local Adventures

How long is the experience?

The tour is supposed to be 90 min including the boarding time so you end up on the bus for about ~75 min. It’s more than enough time for this experience.

Are there restrooms on the bus?

Yes, there are restrooms located on the lower level of the bus. There are also public bathrooms in Bryant Park right next to the bus’ meeting point.

Is the tour suitable for dietary restrictions?

Since this is a pre-set menu, if you’re a vegan or have any specific needs, I don’t think this is the experience for you as most of the food choices contain dairy, fish, and meat.

Final Thoughts on Tea Around town NYC

Tea Around Town is a cute and unique NYC activity that you can enjoy with a group or a friend (you do need to book a minimum of two tickets as well so this is not a solo activity option). The bus is stunningly decorated, the food is tasty and the tea is hot! Whether you’re visiting from out of town or are a local, I hope this post gave you some insight into what the Tea Around Town experience entails!

Tea Around Town Menu and Cost

Tea Around Town comes with 2 menu options: a standard menu or a premium menu. The Standard Menu costs $69+ whereas the premium menu costs $109+. This price is for both adults and kids 3 and over; there is no kids price. You need a minimum of 2 people for Tea Around Town.

The price also changes throughout the week, with Tuesdays and Wednesdays being the lowest and the weekends being the highest (usually $5-10 more than what I listed above).

The Basic Menu comes with 7 courses (3 savory sandwiches, 1 scone, and 3 sweets). The Premium Menu comes with 13 courses (6 savory sandwiches, 2 scones, 6 sweets), and mocktails. We also got champagne at the end, although I’m not sure if everyone gets it. The Premium Menu also comes with priority seating and boarding.

You can see the different menu options below for Tea Around Town. We got the premium menu to try everything.

Tea Around Town: Best Seating on the Bus

Most of the seating on the Tea Around Town Bus is on the upper level, which has glass ceiling and glass windows all around, making the space much brighter and have better visibility of the outside (it is a sightseeing bus after all).

The workers told us that seating is pre-assigned, so it’s not first come first serve. You do not know where your table is ahead of time and there is no need to get there super early to be the first one (we tried that since we thought it was first come first serve).

NYC-tea-Around-Town-Upper-deck-seating

On the upper deck, the left row are tables for 2 people and the right side are tables for our. Since there are 4 corners on the upper deck, those are the best in terms of lighting and views (since you have the large window behind you and next to you).

There are very limited seatings on the bottom deck, and it is a lot darker, not ideal for taking photos of food or yourselves.

How to Find the Tea Around Town Bus Stop

Boarding time is 15 minutes prior to the time stated on your ticket/ confirmation, but in reality you don’t really board 15 minutes before. We were the first bus of the day and we boarded around 10:30am. I did read reviews that sometimes the bus is late later in the day, due to traffic or some other reasons.

The bus station is on 42nd street between 5th and 6th avenue, right next to the New York Public Library (next to Bryant Park). The bus stop is closer to 5th Ave instead of 6th Ave. Our instruction was to wait for the bus right across from 11 West 42nd Street .

If you are walking on 42nd Street from 6th Avenue towards 5th Avenue near the library, you will actually see the bus stop of “Topview Sightseeing”. The bus stop for Tea Around Town is essentially a few steps further, although there is no sign for Tea Around Town.

If you arrive 10-15 minutes before boarding, you will see staff standing around (or other people waiting already). The staff member will scan the QR Code on your confirmation, and tell you to wait in line for the bus.

Once the bus arrives, you will be told what number your table is as you board the bus.

NYC-Tea-Around-Town-review

Tea Around Town Tour Bus Schedule

There are between 5 to 11 buses per day, depending on the day of the week and the season.

On the weekends, there are up to 11 buses going around whereas on a weekday there are only 5. The earliest bus is 10:30am on the weekends and 11am on the weekdays; the last bus is 4pm on weekdays and 7:30pm at night.

I did read that the bus can get cancelled at the last minute if there’s not enough people that signed up.

What You See During Tea Around Town in New York City

Tea Around Town is a bus tour, so you can expect to see some of the most famous places and streets during the bus tour. The map of the bus route is shown below.

Tea Around Town bus route

The bus drives rather slow, giving you time to check out some of the famous buildings and sights along the drive. The most famous landmarks and streets that you can see from the Tea Around Town bus include:

  • Grand Central Terminal
  • The Chrysler Building
  • Empire State Building (through the glass roof)
  • St. Patrick’s Cathedral
  • Radio City Music Hall
  • Fifth Avenue (a little bit)
  • Madison Avenue
  • Central Park South Entrance
  • Columbus Circle
  • Times Square and the Theater District (7th Avenue)

NYC-tea-Around-Town-Central-Park

Since you cannot get off the bus during the afternoon tea, you can only look at these buildings and streets. In my experience, the views only got more exciting about 1/3 into the tour (if not later), since the first 20 or so minutes is driving down to the Murray Hill area with not much to see. Only after about 20 minutes did the host tell us to look up to see the Empire State Building from the glass ceiling.

The most exciting part of the view was probably when we were driving down 7th Avenue towards Times Square, where you can see all the billboards and lights from 10 blocks away.

Keep in mind that I am from New York City, so I know you can get way better views of these sights and streets just by walking outside and exploring them. But if you are short on time visiting NYC, this is a good way to at least see some of the famous places, especially if the weather is bad outside.

While on board, there is a host singing the entire time and pointing out famous landmarks and telling you a little bit of history behind them. My back was towards the host so I didn’t realize the entire time that he was singing, I totally thought it was just music playing from a playlist. The live singing was definitely very impressive.

Tea Around Town: Review of Food and Service

With the premium menu, you get 6 pieces of savory sandwiches/ egg, 2 scones with adirondack preserves and Cloud 9 creme, 6 pieces of sweets, different teas and coffees (although we were never offered coffee), and a choice of mocktail (from 3 options).

NYC-tea-Around-Town-food-review

Below is my review of the food that was offered on the bus tour. The standard menu includes some of the pieces above, so if you are thinking about the standard menu, keep reading too since this will apply to you (hint: I liked many of the pieces that are available for Standard menu only)

Since food is not prepared on the bus, so you cannot expect soft and warm scones or freshly made sandwiches like you do from a restaurant. All the food was made elsewhere and catered to the bus.

Tea Around Town Savory Bites ★★★☆☆

Out of the 6 pieces of savory bites, I really enjoyed the cucumber sandwich , egg sandwich , and the truffle egg essence , although I did not really taste the truffle. The sandwiches were very tasty, albeit the bread was a little hard, which was expected since the food was not made on the bus.

TEa around town Worth it? Devil's Egg

The smoked salmon on pumpernickel (Lox of luxury) was tasty, but I personally found the pumpernickel a bit too hard.

Personally, I was not a big fan of the lobster pot puff with the lobster salad, as it lacked the flavors I was expecting. If it was slightly more salty I would’ve liked it a lot more.

Tea Around town food: Lobster

Lastly the rib sandwich was not bad, but again, it wasn’t as flavorful as I expected but I wouldn’t mind eating it again.

Tea Around Town Scones ★★★☆☆

The premium menu gives you 2 flavors of scones, a plain one and a cranberry scone.

As mentioned above, since the scones were not fresh out of the oven, they were not warm and soft like the ones I had during other afternoon teas in New York City. If they were soft and warm, I would’ve given them a higher score since the flavor was good, just not the texture.

The preserves and creme were good, which made the hard scones taste better.

Tea Around Town Sweets ★★★★☆

The sweets were the best part of the afternoon tea, since they do not need to be freshly made or warm. While writing this review, I noticed that they do change up the sweets since what we got were slightly different from the menu online.

NYC-tea-Around-Town-sweets

My favorite pieces of sweets on Tea Around Town would be:

  • Mini Chocolate Mousse Tart
  • Mini Eclair

The cheesecake was super moist and soft and the eclair had chocolate in the middle, which was really good. I also liked the chocolate mousse tart since I just love anything chocolate.

My least favorite were the Mini Lemon Meringue twist and the lemon square piece, which were both too sweet for my taste and the twist was dry.

Instead of macaron, we got a raspberry tart type of dessert, which was pretty good and not too overpowering.

Tea Around Town Tea & Coffee ★★★★☆

Tea Around Town is on a moving bus, so there is nowhere to brew tea there. All the tea and coffee were already made and brought onto the bus. Therefore, you do not get to order a specific tea, unlike other New York City afternoon tea.

NYC-tea-Around-Town-tea-tumbler

The menu shows a large selection of teas, ranging from Chai to Earl Gray to fruity teas.

During our bus tour, the servers came to our table a few times offering different tea, including raspberry pomegranate, Chai Spice and Peach & Passion Fruit. But we were not offered any other types of tea, so I’m not sure if they had them or not. We were also not offered coffee.

However, I actually quite liked the tea, despite not being able to order a specific one. I liked that we got to sample different teas that they offered, especially since I love fruit teas. Honey was also provided to us if we wanted to make the tea sweet.

Each person also get a really cute plastic tumbler with the Tea Around Town logo for the tea, and you get to keep the tumbler after the ride!

I would’ve given 5 stars if we were given more options for the tea and if we were offered coffee.

Tea Around Town Mocktails & Champagne ★★★★☆

If you have the premium package, you get to choose a mocktail and potentially get champagne at the end. Champagne is not on the menu, but I think they offered it at the end of the ride to everyone, which was a really nice gesture.

NYC-tea-Around-Town-mocktail

The mocktail options offered to us were sparkling cider and non-alcoholic rosé. I chose the rosé and it was indeed refreshing. It wasn’t a sweet drink so if you want something sweet you would need to pick a different option.

Bottles of water were also offered to us on the bus.

The champagne at the end was a really nice finishing touch. The server was super friendly and gave us each half a tumbler of champagne!

Tea Around Town Staff and Service ★★★★★

I have nothing but great things to say about the Tea Around Town Staff, from our two servers to our host, who provided endless food, drinks and entertainment on the bus.

They were all smiles the moment we stepped into the bus, and were accommodating enough to allow us to move to the back corner of the bus with a better view and better lighting (since those seats were empty).

Tea Around Town Q&A

Do you need a reservation for Tea Around Town?

You need to make a reservation for Tea Around Town ahead of time. You can pick the date, time and which menu you want. This will guarantee you a spot (minimum 2 spots needed) on the bus tour.

Does Tea Around Town accommodate food allergies and food restrictions?

The menu shows which piece of afternoon tea is vegetarian or gluten free. Besides this, there is no substitute for any piece of food. If you are a vegan or if you are allergic to dairy for example, you will have a hard time finding things that you can eat.

How long is Tea Around Town in NYC?

Tea Around Town takes about 90 minutes total, with 15 minutes of boarding and getting seated and an hour to 75 minutes of sightseeing.

Do you get alcohol with Tea Around Town?

Yes, you can get champagne at the end with the premium menu.

Is Tea Around Town good for large parties?

Each table accommodates 2 to 4 people. If you have a party larger than that, you will be split into different tables. As mentioned above, you cannot choose tables as everything is pre-assigned.

Can you choose where to sit on the Tea Around Town bus?

No, seating is pre-assigned and you only find out where you sit as you get on the bus.

However, if you see a better spot (like the four corners of the top deck) with nobody sitting there, you can ask the servers to move you to that table. They are very accommodating and nice about it.

Is Tea Around Town good for kids?

Tea Around Town costs the same for adults or kids, so I would only suggest bringing kids that will be able to eat most of the food. Kids have to be at least 3 years old to join the Tea Around town.

Older kids would probably do better on the bus tour, especially if they are interested in sightseeing.

What do I Wear to Tea Around Town? Do I need to dress up?

Most people do dress up for Tea Around Town, since many celebrate special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries and bachelorette parties. But dressing up is not required or necessary, only if you feel like being fancy and classy!

When we were on the bus, I saw many girls with fancy hats (with feathers) and hairbands, so you can imagine the style everyone is going for.

Is Tea Around Town Worth It?

Tea Around Town is an one of a kind experience that combines food and sightseeing. Tea Around Town is great for photos, and it is probably the most instagrammable afternoon tea you can find in New York City. If you are looking for something fun, cute and unique, then I would say Tea Around Town in New York City is worth the price.

However, if you are looking for gourmet meals or a hop on hop off bus tour, Tea Around Town is not it.

There are many famous places in NYC for afternoon tea (like the Plaza Hotel ) or even less expensive places like the Prince Tea House that offer better food. In fact the Plaza hotel tea is only $120 a person and Prince Tea house afternoon tea set is only $38 a person, but you get way better food.

There are also other double decker hop on hop off sightseeing buses that allow you to get off and explore.

Again, Tea Around Town is more about the aesthetic, uniqueness and overall experience rather than food or sightseeing alone.

Tea Around Town Tips

  • You can take the cute tumbler home.
  • Use the bathroom at Bryant Park before you board the bus. I did not see any bathrooms on the bus (there may have been one but I never asked).
  • If you have leftover food, you can ask the servers for a really cute to go box.
  • Chat up the servers, they may offer you more champagne!
  • Tell them that you are celebrating something special and you will get a special shoutout.
  • If you are a photographer (or Instagrammer that uses cameras), bring a wide angle lens for photos.
  • Wear something cute and colorful! You won’t look out of place.
  • If you get car sick easily, you should take dopamine beforehand to prevent motion sickness.

Tea Around Town – The Sweetest NYC Tour

Whether you’re a long-time resident of The Big Apple, or you’re simply in town for a few days, there’s no better way to see the downtown area than on a giant, pink, double decker bus while sipping tea and snacking on scones. That’s just what you get with Tea Around Town. I’ve lived in NYC all my life, and I can guarantee you there’s nothing like this in the city! It’s certainly the first time I ever experienced anything like it. A wide field of view of the city with exquisite teas and finger sandwiches is something we are raving about! Go on your own mobile tea room with friends this year- NYC style!

About the Bus

Tea Around Town is one of the best ways to enjoy downtown New York City. The experience combines afternoon tea with a double decker bus tour of downtown New York City. It’s a unique experience that’s like nothing you’ve ever done before. I recently enjoyed my own experience with Tea Around Town, and it’s my new favorite way to enjoy the city! Sweet treats and bottomless tea options within the city hustle is something we’ve never experienced before. This double-decker bus has everything you can imagine for a unique afternoon tea experience. It’s the perfect place for a small birthday celebration, in our opinion! View iconic NYC landmarks all while having an amazing overall experience with warm tea.

This bus tour takes place on a double decker bus that’s as pink on the inside as it is on the outside. The seats are a lovely pink and cream color, and they even have floral centerpieces. While you sit and enjoy the views out of the large windows and the glass roof, you’ll enjoy three tiers of scones along with other savory and sweet items like appetizer crackers, and baked goods. And of course, it’s all served with complimentary tea service. You’ll be able to enjoy a wide variety of teas from Earl Grey with Lavender to decaf tea, coffee, and even three different kinds of champagne. The unique 90-minute experience has a standard afternoon tea menu with items like sweet pastries, classic cucumber sandwiches and the best cup of tea around.

I took the tour with my  friend, but this is also perfect for families with children. While enjoying scones, sandwiches, cookies, teas, and champagne, I and the other passengers were treated to all the major NYC sites. If you take this tour, you’ll see the New York Public Library, Grand Central Terminal, Columbus Circle, Radio City Music Hall, and more. I’ve always loved roaming around town, but it all seemed so much different sitting in a pink double decker bus while sipping champagne and enjoying finger foods.

If you’re planning a visit to NYC or even if you’re a resident, you have to see the city from the top of a double decker bus while you enjoy high tea ! I’m a life-long New Yorker, and it was a totally new experience for me. It’s one of the best ways to experience the city!

A giant pink bus is hosting tea parties while giving tours of Philly

The sightseeing experience adds a fancy twist with finger sandwiches and floral decor..

Franki Rudnesky

A tea party on wheels is now rolling through Philadelphia.

Tourists and residents alike can sip tea and snack on finger sandwiches while admiring quintessential Philadelphia sites thanks to a giant pink tour bus that recently rolled into town.

Tea Around Town, an experience run by New York City-based TopView Sightseeing, launched Philly tours last month. The tea party on wheels serves hot beverages and fancy snacks while traveling past local landmarks such as the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and Philadelphia Museum of Art.

MORE:   Center City Sips is ready to start 20th year of discounted drinks, appetizers on Wednesdays in Philly

"The response from Philly-area people who have ridden the bus has been simply amazing," said John Cella, of TopView Sightseeing. "We've received tremendous interest and support from both the local community and tourists, which has been incredibly rewarding. It's been wonderful to see guests of all ages and backgrounds excited to join our experience, truly embodying the inclusive spirit of Tea Around Town."

The bus' interior is decorated in florals and outfitted with booths for riders to sit in while enjoying the fare. Tea blends range from classics like English breakfast and Earl Grey to unique seasonal blends like mixed berry hibiscus and raspberry pomegranate. Sweet and savory treats served on board include salted caramel cheesecake, mini lemon meringue, savory ribeye symphony and lobster pot puff.

Entertainment will also be offered during the tours  in the form of live music and storytelling,  creating what Cella calls a "lively and welcoming" atmosphere.

Passengers aboard the Tea Around Town bus can snack on scones and sweets while sipping tea.

Tickets for the limited-seating tours, which are available for people ages 3 and older, can be purchased online . Admission starts at $80 for the Petite package, which includes food, "sky deck seating" with 360-degree views, a private table and souvenir tea tumbler. Riders who are feeling fancy can upgrade to the Luxe experience, starting at $120, which offers everything from the Petite experience plus priority boarding and extra menu items.

"Tea Around Town is perfect for celebrating special occasions like birthdays or bridal showers," Cella said. "You can charter a private event or simply purchase tickets with friends to enjoy a memorable experience together."

Each trip is approximately 90 minutes long and departs from a meeting point in front of 616 Market St., at the southwest corner of Market Street and South 6th Street. Passengers are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time to allow time for boarding.

Tea Around Town is running a Mother's Day discount through Sunday, offering up to 14% off tickets.

The food was first class as was the service

Surprised my wife on her 50th birthday with a group of 14 friends/family on the tour bus. It was absolutely fabulous and everyone had a great time, the food was first class as was the service. I asked them to make a birthday cake and wow it was amazing! The tour itself was also fab and credit to the driver as he must have nerves of steel. I can’t remember the waitresses names but both were so professional and nothing was too much trouble. Top marks and well done Brigit’s Bakery.

A lovely tour of London with delicious food & drink!

We went on a Brigit's Afternoon Tea Bus in London on a Wednesday afternoon. The staff members, Katherine and Aziz, were very nice and friendly, serving our drinks and easily answering any questions that we had. The food was delicious, especially the desserts!

Incredible Tour!

I couldn’t imagine a better way to kick off our UK tour. Our guides Daisy, Monica and Kel went above and beyond to make this experience perfect. We couldn’t recommend enough, you won’t be disappointed!

The food was lovely!

Booked this for a friend for her birthday. It was a fantastic experience! The food was lovely and our hosts Svets and Kasey were great - friendly, efficient, and managed to handle a large party who had booked with grace and charm! One of our party was a vegan, one vegetarian and one traditional, and all of the food - sweet and savoury - was fantastic - from finger sandwiches to scones and mouthwatering desserts. The bus is comfy, if a little bouncy! And the route takes in all the sights.

Celebrating an occasion

We took our friends on an afternoon tea on Brigit's Bus, the food and service was excellent, the staff we very friendly and we had a lovely time celebrating the friends Golden Wedding Anniversary. The weather was cloudy but it did not spoil the trip. It was a lovely afternoon. We look forward to doing it again.

Absolutely loved every minute!

If you’re going to do it…do it on a Brigit’s bus with afternoon tea! Our servers on the day were Micah, Alex and Diogo and they were super. We got to see all the Major landmarks and even got to take home what we couldn’t eat. All in all would highly recommend this experience, with friends or with loved ones this is a really special treat.

The Unique Burial of a Child of Early Scythian Time at the Cemetery of Saryg-Bulun (Tuva)

<< Previous page

Pages:  379-406

In 1988, the Tuvan Archaeological Expedition (led by M. E. Kilunovskaya and V. A. Semenov) discovered a unique burial of the early Iron Age at Saryg-Bulun in Central Tuva. There are two burial mounds of the Aldy-Bel culture dated by 7th century BC. Within the barrows, which adjoined one another, forming a figure-of-eight, there were discovered 7 burials, from which a representative collection of artifacts was recovered. Burial 5 was the most unique, it was found in a coffin made of a larch trunk, with a tightly closed lid. Due to the preservative properties of larch and lack of air access, the coffin contained a well-preserved mummy of a child with an accompanying set of grave goods. The interred individual retained the skin on his face and had a leather headdress painted with red pigment and a coat, sewn from jerboa fur. The coat was belted with a leather belt with bronze ornaments and buckles. Besides that, a leather quiver with arrows with the shafts decorated with painted ornaments, fully preserved battle pick and a bow were buried in the coffin. Unexpectedly, the full-genomic analysis, showed that the individual was female. This fact opens a new aspect in the study of the social history of the Scythian society and perhaps brings us back to the myth of the Amazons, discussed by Herodotus. Of course, this discovery is unique in its preservation for the Scythian culture of Tuva and requires careful study and conservation.
