Balasore, a coastal city in the eastern Indian state of Odisha, is a treasure trove of history, science, and ecotourism attractions. The ITR consists of two complexes: LC-IV on Abdul Kalam Island and LC-III in Chandipur.

Balasore’s historical significance dates back to ancient times. The city was once part of the Kalinga Kingdom, one of the most powerful kingdoms in ancient India. In the 13th century, Balasore was captured by the Mughals, who ruled over the city for several centuries. The city also came under the control of the Marathas and the British before becoming a part of independent India in 1947.

Balasore’s rich history is evident in its many historical monuments and sites. The city is home to several ancient temples, including the Chandaneswar Temple and the Panchalingeshwar Temple.
