The Sixth Floor Museum chronicles the assassination and legacy of President John F. Kennedy, and houses historical artifacts that are exclusive to the Sixth Floor Museum/Old School Book Depository. Look out the window to see historic Dealey Plaza and its “grassy knoll,” just as it was in 1963. If you are interested in JFK, put this on your list of things to do in Dallas.
#2 REUNION TOWER GeO-Deck
From 470 feet up, featuring breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views, you’ll experience high-definition zoom cameras, interactive touch screens, telescopes, photo ops and an indoor/outdoor observation deck that lets you see for miles in any direction. Don’t forget to visit Cloud Nine Café for lunch and let the Dallas skyline revolve around you! Explore fun things to see and do in Dallas at the GeO-Deck, where you’ll discover the city from an entirely new perspective.
#3 Omni – Pegasus
Located in the center of the revitalized downtown Dallas, Omni Dallas Hotel is connected via sky bridge to the Dallas Convention Center and close to restaurants, shops, the Dallas Arts District and more. Local history and flavor is showcased throughout the hotel. Guest rooms, meeting space and restaurants all feature pieces from local Dallas artists. The Pegasus landmark flew high above the Dallas skyline for more than sixty years until the elements finally made it necessary to bring the winged icon back to earth. But until recently, no one knew where the original flying red horses of “Big D” had come to rest.
#4 PIONEER PLAZA/DALLAS CONVENTION CENTER
Pioneer Plaza commemorates Dallas’ beginnings by celebrating the trails that brought settlers to Dallas, featuring a bronze re-creation of a longhorn steer cattle drive created by Texas artist Robert Summers. You’ll also discover an oasis of native plants and trees, man-made cliffs, a waterfall and flowing stream in a natural setting – right in the heart of downtown Dallas. The Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center has been recognized as “The Best-Run Convention Center in America,” and was the first convention center in the world to offer Wireless Internet Services for exhibitors and meeting professionals.
#5 THE DALLAS WORLD AQUARIUM
The adventure at The Dallas World Aquarium begins at the top of the rainforest exhibit, where exotic birds, such as Cocks-of-the-rock and many species of toucans, can be seen. Lounging around are Two-toed and Three-toed sloths. The aquarium portion displays interesting marine life, including Japanese crabs, jellyfish, Leafy, Weedy and Ribbon seadragons. Black-footed and Blue penguins can be seen swimming as guests enjoy the outdoor South Africa exhibit. Sharks, rays and sawfish are only a few of the fish living in the Mundo Maya cenote.
#6 PEROT NATURE & SCIENCE MUSEUM
Located in Victory Park, Dallas’ newest museum is said to be a “world of wonder” by The Dallas Morning News , and is a groundbreaking experience inside and out. Get ready to amaze your brain through hands-on learning experiences that pass the test of school children, inspire curiosity in all ages, and boast as a living science lesson.
#7 HARD ROCK CAFE
The Dallas House of Blues has become one of the most sought-after venues in Dallas to feast on eclectic cuisine and catch the best local and national live music. For those who want a different spin on “Southern hospitality”, there’s never a dull moment at Dick’s Last Resort, where their signature brand of surliness is as plentiful as the food.
#8 AMERICAN AIRLINES CENTER/VICTORY PARK
If the West End is the historic heart of Dallas, Victory Park is its 21st century counterpart. The area’s cornerstone is the American Airlines Center – home to two of Dallas’ championship teams, the Dallas Mavericks and the Dallas Stars. Outside, the AT&T Plaza/Victory Park provides the area with a central meeting place of trendy shops and restaurants, high-end living and exciting nightlife.
#9 KLYDE WARREN PARK
Take a break from visiting the nearby museums to relax in this one-of-a-kind urban green space. This 5.2-acre park (built over a freeway) offers a world of free family activities year-round – from games, a library, lounging and food trucks to yoga, dance lessons, interactive fountains, and outdoor concerts and films – right in the heart of Dallas’ Arts District.
#10 DALLAS MUSEUM OF ART/NASHER SCULPTURE CENTER
Two of the best art scenes in the country, found just steps away from each other, anchor Dallas’ nationally acclaimed Arts District. With free general admission, the massive Dallas Museum of Art is home to a stunning collection of more than 22,000 pieces (spanning the third millennium BC to present day), a Paintings Conservation Studio, fun programming for kids and after-hour events for adults. Across the street at the Nasher Sculpture Center, you’ll experience one of the finest collections of modern and contemporary sculptures in the world.
#11 DEEP ELLUM
Deep Ellum is a very hip and trendy part of Dallas. 5 Star quality cuisine, disguised as a holes in wall. Live music, art, tasty food and tattoos abounds in Deep Ellum.
#12 DALLAS FARMERS MARKET
Visit the newly revitalized Dallas Farmers Market and you’ll discover so much more than fresh seasonal produce from local growers. It’s also home to four anchor restaurants from Dallas’ most celebrated chefs, a mixture of local specialty and artisanal food vendors, and seating areas both inside and out where you can grab a bite to eat or enjoy a cup of coffee while taking in a view of the Dallas skyline.
#13 NIEMAN MARCUS
Stanley Marcus set the standard for luxury retail in Dallas and beyond when he opened the first Nieman Marcus in 1907. Equally legendary for its superior customer service as it is for showcasing fashion from the world’s top designers, a visit to this iconic flagship store and its Zodiac restaurant is a must when visiting Dallas.
#14 HISTORIC WEST END
It’s hard to imagine that it was once a home to Caddo Indians in the early 1800s. Now, this vibrant district is home to everything from barbecue and rooftop bars to steakhouses and shopping for custom boots – as well as venues of every size to take in local live music.

Our Original Founder & CoFOUNDER in 2017
Deah berry mitchell.
I'm a fulltime Black culture historian and writer residing in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas.
A double graduate of Southern Methodist University, I enjoy traveling and immersing myself into other cultures. Currently pursuing my Ph.D. in history at the University of North Texas.
While vacationing in 2017, I had the idea to produce a bus tour that would combine my two passions: cuisine and local cultural history.
When I got back, I suggested to my friend and public relations manager, Dalila Thomas, that we partner together to produce this new concept.
In February 2018 we officially launched!
I relaunched the new and improved tours in April 2022 after pandemic restrictions were eased under my newly formed "umbrella" company - Nostalgia Black. Tourism is one of the services offered to amplify Black history and increase knowledge of cultural heritage and traditions. Currently pursuing my PhD in History, I am passionate about expanding our knowledge of local Black history.
I'm planning to expand into other test markets soon.
