Award winning film composer Hans Zimmer will bring his smash-hit tour Hans Zimmer Live to North America this Fall with arena dates across the United States and Canada, including a birthday show at the iconic Madison Square Garden. Following a sold-out European run, the tour marks the North American return of the “Hollywood Rebel” (according to the BBC) who rocked Coachella in 2017 with his outstanding live band and orchestra. Audiences will be swept away from the sound of the first note and journey through an array of well-loved scores throughout Zimmer’s career. In a groundbreaking audio and visual show, the multiple Academy Award® and Grammy winning Zimmer, his band and the orchestra will perform a selection of the composer’s scores from some of cinema’s biggest films. The newly arranged concert suites include music from Gladiator , Pirates of the Caribbean , The Dark Knight , Interstellar , The Lion King , The Last Samurai and Dune , for which Zimmer received his second Academy Award®.

The World of Hans Zimmer at the O2 Arena

Imagine a film without music; soundtracks and scores form such an essential part of our viewing experience, establishing and embellishing atmosphere, injecting suspense and punctuating emotive moments. While we often appreciate what we are hearing on screen, it is all too easy to ignore who is behind it, save for when the sound and style are so identifiable that we can immediately pinpoint its composer. Hans Zimmer stands out alongside such other heavyweights as John Williams for imprinting his own unique mark on the world of film. At the forefront for decades, the German composer attained note with 1988’s Rain Man and most recently scored Dune: Part Two , having picked up an Oscar for his work on the first film.

Zimmer’s other Academy Award was back in 1994 for The Lion King. In between he has worked on a vast array of blockbusters, From his frequent collaborations with Christopher Nolan on such pictures as Inception, Interstellar, Dunkirk and The Dark Knight trilogy, to Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes, the Pirates of the Caribbean series and composing the theme tune to Netflix hit The Crown , Zimmer has been and remains a constant presence. If he’s not living up to his rock star status performing live shows – he actually proposed to his partner on this very stage, just last year – he’s already working on his next film project. This is a musical heavyweight still very much in demand and still, unquestionably, on top of his game.

While the revered composer is not due to perform at a sold-out O2 arena this evening, we can rest assured that he has carefully curated a night to please long-time listeners and those new to experiencing his work live. We are also in the safe hands of Zimmer’s trusted friend, Gavin Greenaway, who conducts. Greenaway banters with Zimmer, who appears on screen in a series of snippets to introduce certain pieces of music. While a tad corny at times, we are offered interesting anecdotes and some humorous exchanges. Greenaway has an effortless rapport with Zimmer and with the sea of musicians who fill the large stage. He gets straight down to business leading the orchestra with Man of Steel Suite: Part 1, which gradually builds towards an epic crescendo, thus setting the tone for the show.

It is followed by the gentle and uplifting Driving (Miss Daisy) , with footage from the film on screen to complement the music. We then return to the more imposing with The Rock and Pearl Harbour , with the latter being a particularly emotive piece. One cannot help but be drawn into another world by the almost haunting vocals. The tempo is then increased once again as we move to The Dark Knight , followed by music from the most recent Bond outing, No Time to Die.

The incomparable Lisa Gerrard then takes us through Gladiator Suite – her vocals mesmerising and impactful. She is accompanied by Soprano Gan-ya Ben-gur Akselrod, who later sings The Prince of Egypt. The level of talent on show is astounding, with multi woodwinds soloist Pedro Eustache, guitarist Alexios Anest, cellist Mariko Muranaka and solo violinist Rusanda Panfili all being of note. Interstellar Suite rounds off the first half of the evening, proving Zimmer’s marriage of electronic music and orchestra to be a winning match, particularly when it comes to sci-fi epics.

Following an intermission, we are taken through Wonder Woman Suite and Kung Fu Panda . Ritchie then joins Zimmer on screen to discuss Sherlock Holmes and the sound they were both going for and how they came to achieve it. Discombobulate from the film is a sure-fire highlight of the night. A dramatic shift in sound from the bustle and busyness of the aforementioned to the serenity of A Time of Quiet Between the Storms from Dune: Part 2 again demonstrates Zimmer’s remarkable versatility.

Lebo M is warmly welcomed on stage and fellow vocalist Nokukhanya Dlamini raises the roof during the crowd-pleasing The Lion King Suite , which instantly pulls many millennials back to their childhoods. This simply beautiful and undeniably moving music, which Zimmer explains serves as a requiem for his late father, has the audience on their feet breaking into rapturous applause.   It makes for another outstanding part of an already impressive evening before the piano of Time from Inception calls for a reflective pause. As the song slowly builds and the sound of an electric guitar gradually comes to the fore, there are audible gasps when we see it is Zimmer himself playing. This unannounced and unexpected appearance of course delights and it is a real pleasure to see the composer thanking his many musicians and vocalists individually as well as his audience. We are treated to an energetic encore of Pirates of the Caribbean Suite to close a magical and memorable celebration of Zimmer but also music and the power it holds, the skill and talent it requires and the exclusive emotion only it can conjure. A world-class show.

Seven years after bringing his incredible lineup of film scores across the U.S. for a live tour, Hans Zimmer is ready to do it again. The Academy Award-winning composer, known for his work on everything from Gladiator to Interstellar , will soon return to North America this fall with his hit tour Hans Zimmer Live following another successful run in Europe in 2023. Zimmer, his 18-piece live band, and a full orchestra will begin their journey across the continent in Duluth, Georgia at the Gas South Arena on September 6 . In total, they'll visit 17 cities between the U.S. and Canada, including the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia on October 6.

Zimmer last appeared stateside in 2017 when he rocked out at Coachella playing the hits from his long career in Hollywood. This run for the legendary artist will include a special celebratory show at Madison Square Garden in New York for his birthday on September 12 , in addition to the other destinations. Each show promises a visual and audio spectacle as he and his fellow musicians perform iconic scores as part of newly arranged concert suites that put a spin on his music. For his North American shows, concert-goers can expect to hear tunes from the scores of the aforementioned Gladiator and Interstellar alongside Pirates of the Caribbean , The Dark Knight , The Lion King , The Last Samurai , and his most recent Oscar-winning work, Dune .

Choosing exactly what to play for the live shows is no doubt a challenge for Zimmer considering his omnipresence throughout film. Anyone who has seen a Christopher Nolan title has more than likely heard the composer's work , given their frequent collaborations including Inception , Dunkirk , The Prestige , and The Dark Knight trilogy. Air-edel’s vocalist and composer lisa gerrard is set to perform throughout ‘the world of hans zimmer: a symphonic celebration’ tour..

Lisa and Hans Zimmer co-composed the original score for Ridley Scott’s multi-Academy Award-winning feature ‘Gladiator’, for which the composers received a Golden Globe Award and Oscar nomination. The tour will present the composer’s works arranged for a live symphony orchestra for the very first time. Zimmer spent months working on transforming his soundtracks into opulent concert suites, highlights include ‘The Lion King’, ‘Gladiator’, ‘Pirates of the Carribean’ and many others.

The tour began in Krakow on Sunday 17th March. They will soon arrive in the UK for a series of performances in concert arenas including Manchester, Wembley, and Glasgow, before heading across Europe over the course of 2019.

Following on from the release of her collaborative album ‘Burn’ last year, alongside Dead Can Dance’s Jules Maxwell and James Chapman from MAPS, Lisa Gerrard has now joined forces with producer and composer Marcello De Francisci for the stunning new LP ‘Exaudia’.

Working alongside a team of other musicians including Bahar Shah, Astrid Williamson, Daniela Arbizzi, and Farhad Behroozi, ‘Exaudia’ looks to combine the broad and euphoric textures of De Francisci’s production with the warm and haunting vocals of Gerrard. Described as “a feminine embodiment of poetic expression”, the record plays majestically with this narrative, inviting a rich and vivid texture within each offering.

Explaining how the collaboration came about, Lisa said, “I met Marcello while I was composing for a film called Kings, he had wonderful engineering skills and I liked him as a person. After a while we decided to try composing together and went on to compose some film scores.

“This work was borne out of a desire to write something together during Covid, there is also the artistic desire to embrace the opportunity to unlock our unfulfilled visions. The album is very physical in its construction and sensibility, it is a deeply sensual work that enjoys a sense of empowered subtlety.”

Adding about the inspiration behind the record, Marcello De Francisci said, “ For quite some time I had been playing around with the idea of composing a brand new track to Lisa Gerrard’s vocals on “Diary for the Fallen”. I wanted a darker and more brooding version, which could be attributed to Hans Zimmer’s “Time” from the “Inception” soundtrack without plagiarising his work. I wondered what it would have sounded like if Lisa Gerrard had sung on something of this nature, in addition pushing the envelope even further by writing an aria towards the end of this piece including orchestra, choirs and percussion, which would result in one grand finale. It had to be something completely our own”.

On 7th May 2021, Lisa Gerrard and Jules Maxwell release their album ‘Burn’, with Atlantic Curve, a London-based label created under the Schubert Music Europe umbrella. This collective effort was produced by James Chapman of Maps.

Ambient electronica, folk music from around the world with a special emphasis on Middle Eastern sound, gothic operatics and joyously overwhelming orchestral moments are morphed and woven into each other to create the richly textured fabric of this album. A deep and almost spiritual aesthetic guides this album as they start to work notions of trance music into these tunes. 

The duo use a multitude of cultural references as a starting point but seemingly synthesise these influences into something that sounds strangely new and somewhat alien. Burn creates a reflective space into which listeners can immerse themselves and mediate on the dreamiest of sounds.

The World of Hans Zimmer – A Symphonic Celebration – Tour 2020

After successfully touring Europe for two years (2018 & 2019 – read more here ), with many sold out concert, tomorrow, Thursday, February 6, starts the 2020 branch of The World of Hans Zimmer – A Symphonic Celebration tour, with a concert in Moscow (Russia) , being this the first time that the band performs in Russia.

Organized by Semmel Concerts , Tomek Productions & RCI Global, LLC. , this tour features Gavin Greenaway conducting the Belarusian Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra and the Belarus Radio and Television Choir .

Hans Zimmer is curator and musical director of the show, and although he isn’t performing himself, he has invited several renowned soloists from his talent factory and circle of friends to take part in the tour.

In the show you can find Lisa Gerrard – the voice of Hans Zimmer , who’s been known worldwide since the “ Gladiator ” anthem “ Now We Are Free ”. Pedro Eustache – the flautist of “ Pirates of the Caribbean ” and “ Kung Fu Panda ”, amongst many others, as well as violinist Rusanda Panfili and percussionists Lucy Landymore and Aleksandra Šuklar , who already contributed to the composer’s Hans Zimmer Live Tour .

Further talented soloists chosen by Hans Zimmer for the tour are the singers Gan-ya Ben-gur Akselrod and Asja Kadrić , cellists Tina Guo and Marie Spaemann , guitarist Amir John Haddad – El Amir , e-bass player Juan Garcia-Herreros , pianist Eliane Correa , as well as the percussionist Luis Ribeiro . With this group of talented musicians, the quality of the show is out of any doubt!

World Of Hans Zimmer Live – Moscow

“The World of Hans Zimmer – A Symphonic Celebration” pulls out all the stops: In addition to visually striking projections of film sequences, a symphony orchestra under the direction of conductor Gavin Greenaway creates an intense and unforgettable concert experience which – in contrast to “Hans Zimmer Live” – celebrates Zimmer’s compositions for large orchestra.

Together with a choir and top musicians from Hans Zimmer’s talent factory, such as Pedro Eustache, the flautist from the  Pirates of the Caribbean  series, and solo violinist Rusanda Panfili, it creates a magical sound cosmos, with the hypnotic voice of Lisa Gerrard, whose hymn “Now We Are Free” from  Gladiator  remains unforgettable, floating above it all.
