Day 1 : Depart the USA

We board our flight for a relaxing journey across the Atlantic.

Day 2 : Arrive in Norway

Arrive in Oslo, Norway’s capital. We meet our English-speaking European guide and check in to our hotel for a two-night stay in the heart of the city. Take the remainder of the day to explore the city at your leisure or relax before our adventurous days ahead. Tonight, we get to know our fellow traveling companions at an included Holiday Vacations Welcome Dinner.

Day 3 : Oslo

Enjoy breakfast at our hotel before joining a local guide for an intriguing tour of Oslo. Major sightseeing destinations include the Royal Palace, Vigeland Sculpture Park, Akershus Fortress, the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, and the Bygdoy museums. Later we visit the Fram Museum, dedicated to Norway’s history of arctic exploration, and the Kon-Tiki Museum, home to the legendary balsa wood raft Thor Heyerdahl used to cross the Pacific Ocean in 1951.

Day 4 : Lillehammer

After breakfast we depart Oslo and travel to Lillehammer, located in a picturesque setting overlooking the northern end of Lake Mjosa. Home to the 1994 Winter Olympics, it remains a popular ski resort today. Tour Maihaugen, one of Norway’s greatest open-air museums, and learn what life was like from the Middle Ages to the present. Maihaugen resembles a small inland village and features nearly 200 buildings, including turf-topped houses, a railway station, school, post office, fishing cabins, and barns. As you near the entrance, you’ll see historic Garmo Stave Church, built over 800 years ago. Following an included lunch, enjoy the afternoon at leisure to visit area attractions that pique your interest. Some options include the Lillehammer Art Museum, the Norwegian Olympic Museum, or Fabrikken, a creative and cultural arts center.

Day 5 : Geirangerfjord

Today we travel westward through spectacular scenery to Norway’s fjordlands, the highest concentration of fjords in the world. On our way, we drive through Gudbrandsdalen, a traditional region of Norway best recognized by its bucolic farmland. We stop in Lom and visit the Lom Stave Church, one of Norway’s largest stave churches, with a history that goes back to the 12th century. Upon reaching Geiranger, we take a ferry through the UNESCO-listed Geirangerfjord to Hellesylt and enjoy some of Norway’s most beautiful vistas. Afterwards, a short drive takes us to the village of Loen where we check in to our hotel for two nights.

Day 6 : Briksdal Glacier

Our day starts with an exciting ride on an open-air off-road Troll Car to Jostedalsbreen National Park, where we experience the mighty Briksdal Glacier. This is one of Norway’s most famous glaciers due to the spectacular waterfalls and mountain peaks that surround it. Later, take the Loen Skylift to the top of Mount Hoven for panoramic views of Loen, the Nordfjord, and the surrounding peaks.

Day 7 : Sognefjord & Flam Railway

This morning we board our motorcoach and travel south to Kaupanger, on the shores of the Sognefjord. Known as the King of the Fjords, the Sognefjord is Norway’s longest and deepest inlet. Relax on a scenic 2 ½ hour ferry ride through this geologic wonder to the village of Flam. There, the Flam Railway brings us on a breathtaking journey to Myrdal featuring towering mountains, plummeting waterfalls, and lush valleys. We then change trains and head to Bergen, our home for the next two nights.

Day 8 : Bergen

Bergen is Norway’s second largest city. Nicknamed the City of Seven Mountains, it’s brimming with towering mountains, deep fjords, and colorful wooden houses. Following a delicious breakfast, a local guide boards our motorcoach and leads our tour of Bergen. Highlights include Bergenhus Fortress, Rosenkrantz Tower, and Bryggen, the city’s medieval wharf district and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We visit Troldhaugen, a living museum that was once home to the famous composer Edvard Grieg, who described this luxurious villa as his “best opus so far.” We celebrate our travel adventures with a Farewell Lunch at Ovre-Eide Farm, family-owned since the 16th century. Savor a variety of regional delicacies as we learn more about the farm and Norwegian national costumes. Later, take a funicular cable car ride up Mount Fløyen for outstanding views of the city and the sea beyond.

Day 9 : Fly Home

Day 1 : Fly to Norway

We board our flight for a relaxing overnight journey across the Atlantic.

Day 2 : Welcome to Oslo

Upon arriving in Norway’s capital, we meet our English-speaking local guide and check in to our hotel for a two-night stay in the heart of the city. The remainder of the day is yours to explore or relax before our adventurous days ahead. This evening, we get to know fellow travelers at a wonderful Welcome Dinner.

Day 3 : City Tour & Museums

Each morning begins with a lovely included breakfast. Today, our local guide joins us for an intriguing tour of Oslo that features sights of the Royal Palace, Vigeland Sculpture Park, Akershus Fortress, the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet, and Bygdoy. This afternoon, we visit the Fram Museum to dive into Norway’s history of polar exploration and see the strongest wooden ship ever built, which holds records for the farthest sailings north and south. Our journey through history continues next door at the Kon-Tiki Museum, home to the original balsa wood raft Thor Heyerdahl famously used to cross the Pacific Ocean in 1951. The evening is yours at leisure.

Our day begins with a drive to Lillehammer, a picturesque ski resort town that overlooks the northern end of Lake Mjosa. We explore Maihaugen, one of Northern Europe’s largest open-air museums, and learn what life was like from the Middle Ages to the present. Marvel at this recreation of a small inland village with hundreds of authentic buildings, including turf-topped houses, a railway station, a school, fishing cabins, barns, and historic Garmo Stave Church, built over 800 years ago. While there, enjoy an included lunch with delicious traditional food. After checking in to our hotel in the nearby city of Oyer, the rest of the day is yours to relax or explore.

Day 5 : Hardanger

Today, our travels take us through spectacular scenery as we head to Eidfjord in Western Norway, where the world’s highest concentration of fjords can be found. This afternoon, we reach our destination and see Voringsfossen Waterfall, Norway’s most famous waterfall. Watch how the powerful water cascades nearly 600 feet off the Hardangervidda Plateau into the Mabodalen Valley! Next, we venture into Hardangervidda National Park and visit Norsk Natursenter to browse state-of-the-art exhibits that showcase Norwegian natural and cultural history. View a panoramic film called “Fjord Mountain Waterfall” in The Centre, then explore three floors of interactive stations, fossils, aquariums, illustrations, and more. Later, we cross the iconic Hardanger Bridge and take a scenic route along the Hardangerfjord to Ulvik. We check in to our accommodations for the next two nights and gather for a delicious dinner.

Day 6 : The Hardangerfjord & Utne

Our morning begins with a visit to Hardanger Juice and Cider Factory. Embark on a guided tour of the farm to see how they make their famous apple cider, juice, dessert wine, and brandy, then indulge in a taste of each! Afterwards, we board a ferry in Kvanndal and soak up breathtaking sights with a ferry ride on the spellbinding Hardangerfjord, one of Norway’s most impressive fjords. Upon reaching the charming village of Utne, we enjoy lunch on our own before exploring the Hardanger Folk Museum. Become immersed in the region’s culture as we browse exhibits on traditional embroidery and costumes, old buildings that depict life in the 1800s, the largest collection of old Hardanger fiddles, and more. We then ferry back to Ulvik for dinner together and have a night of relaxation.

Day 7 : Norheimsund

We depart our hotel this morning for another ferry ride on Norway’s enchanting Hardangerfjord to the village of Norheimsund, a lesser-known gem with a stunning waterfront. Our first stop is Hardanger Akvasenter, where we learn about Norway’s important salmon fishing industry and engage with aquaculture exhibits. We then travel westward to Bergen, our home for the final two nights. Nicknamed the City of Seven Mountains, it’s renowned for vistas of towering mountains, deep fjords, and colorful wooden houses.

Today, a local guide joins us to explore Norway’s second-largest city. Enjoy views of Bergen’s most notable attractions, like Bergenhus Fortress and Rosenkrantz Tower, then stroll through Bryggen, the city’s historic harbor district and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Afterwards, we discover the life of famous composer Edvard Grieg at Troldhaugen, a living museum and his former home that was described as his “best opus so far.” We celebrate our travel adventures with a Farewell Lunch at Ovre-Eide Farm, family-owned since the 16th century. Embark on a tour of this beautiful homestead, then savor a variety of regional delicacies as we learn more about the farm and Norwegian national costumes. Our day concludes with a ride on the Floibanen funicular to the top of Mount Floyen for outstanding views of the city, fjord, and mountains.

We board our flight home today, returning with wonderful memories and photos from our time in Norway.

Things to do, freeport, grand bahama.

Grand Bahama is the fourth largest of the Bahamian islands, measuring 96 miles by 17 miles, and its capital Freeport/Lucaya is what Bahamians consider the nations’ “Second City”. Situated to the Northwest of New Providence, it’s also one of the closest islands to the Florida coastline. Built in the 60’s, Freeport (the main city) makes Grand Bahama visibly different to the other islands. Wallace Groves an American started the Grand Bahama Port Authority(GBPA) with a government grant of 50’000 acres of Crown Land, which eventually increased to 149’000 acres. Under the Hawksbill Creek Agreement, the GBPA built houses, churches, schools and roads. Later a deep-water harbour was dredged for oil tankers followed by an airport, hotels and casino. Freeport/Lucaya is very American in style and unlike anything else in The Bahamas. Built for tropical fun, the area boasts wide tree-lined boulevards, top hotels with casinos and colourful shows, world-class shopping, superb beaches and a multitude of holiday activities including five golf courses.

Grand Bahama Island

Grand Bahama is the fourth largest of the Bahamian islands, measuring 96 miles by 17 miles, and its capital Freeport/Lucaya is what Bahamians consider the nations’ “second city”. Situated to the Northwest of New Providence, it’s also one of the closest islands to the Florida coastline. Built in the 60’s, Freeport makes Grand Bahama visibly different to the other islands. Wallace Groves an American started the Grand Bahama Port Authority (GBPA) with a government grant of 50’000 acres of Crown Land, which eventually increased to 149’000 acres.

In 1995 Hutchinson Port Holdings Ltd, the largest Container Company in the world acquired an equal share of the GBPA, and is in the process of expanding its massive container Trans-shipment port. A subsidiary of Hutchinson Port Holdings Ltd. embarked on the construction of a giant hotel complex Our Lucaya, which has contributed to the resurgence of Freeport as a tourist destination.

One of the highlights of Freeport is the International Bazaar, an enormous shopping complex with its buildings mirroring architectural styles from allover the world, from a Japanese arch to a Turkish bazaar. The International Bazaar is Freeport’s main shopping zone, a sprawling collection of stores selling a wide variety of goods from all over the world, as well as traditional Bahamian arts and crafts all at duty free prices.

In the Lucaya area, the Port Lucaya Marketplace is a multi-million dollar shopping development ideal for bargain hunting as well as for picking up top quality items at excellent prices. There are around 62 stores, 30 restaurants and bars all in a waterside village type atmosphere. This marketplace is also ideally located, immediately across the road from Our Lucaya and within view of both Pelican Bay & The Port Lucaya Resort & Marina.

Next to the Port Lucaya Marketplace is another famous attraction, UNEXSO. This world famous dive operator offers a unique experience to visitors. The only park of its kind in the world, the UNEXSO Dolphin Experience is a place where visitors can swim with dolphins that are free to come and go. The Experience was designed to study how dolphins and humans interact. Due to its immense popularity, it is necessary to make reservations.

Amongst the more fascinating dive sites in Grand Bahama are : Theo’s Wreck,230-ft. steel freighter, Pygmy Caves, and Zoo Hole.

Eco-sensitive visitors will appreciate Grand Bahama’s many opportunities to enjoy solitude and nature. A few spots to enjoy include:

  • The Garden of the Groves, a 12-acre botanical garden with more the 10,000 species of flowers, shrubs, trees and exotic plant life, is an ideal spot for those simply seeking a serene setting and relaxation. A children’s petting zoo with pygmy goats and Vietnamese potbelly pigs has recently been added.
  • For a more scientific floral experience, Freeport’s Hydroflora Gardens offer visitors a fascinating look into the science and technique of “hydrophonics” – growing plants without soil.
  • Beyond Freeport to the east is the Lucayan National Park and Caverns where trails lead through the scrub to limestone sinkholes, Ben’s Cave and Burial Mound Cave.
  • To the west of Freeport is Hawksbill Creek, the centre of Grand Bahama Industry. Next along is the town of Eight-Mile Rock, strung along eight miles of coral shoreline with interesting old Bahamian homes.
  • Going further west is Deadman’s Creek, home of Paradise Cove, a snorkelers Mecca on the nearby offshore reefs. If passing by West End don’t forget to stop by for a bowl of fresh conch salad and of course do stop by fora visit to the Old Bahama Bay a luxury hotel and marina property on the Western Tip of Grand Bahama Island.

Freeport is a golfer’s paradise with at least five golf courses. The Lucayan Country Club course, built by Dick Wilson, was ranked #1 in the Bahamas and #3 in the Caribbean by Golf week Magazine. With high-rimmed bunkers, severe dog legs and pristine fairways, this well-maintained 6,824-yard track presents a challenge rarely equalled in the Caribbean.

Getting around Grand Bahama is easy, with plenty of taxis located at the airport and at all the major hotels and town locations. The public buses shuttle between both Port Lucaya Marketplace and the International Bazaar to the downtown area and from downtown to the outlying areas of West End and East End. Rental cars are also readily available at the airport. (FPO).

Now the sun has finally got his hat on, eager holidaymakers across the UK are rushing to book their seaside resort breaks for the summer.

That’s according to Majestic Tours - one of the Westcountry’s largest and most well-loved holiday tour companies travelling to the best of the UK’s resorts and attractions.

The family-run firm’s new brochure features hundreds of great value breaks, so it’s no wonder business has been brisk.

Ian Evans from Majestic said: “We’re very busy but after a challenging couple of years, it’s really great to be back in that situation - and it seems our loyal customers are just as excited to be travelling with us once again.

"Our passengers booked for Bournemouth say they can’t wait to go to Beaulieu Motor Museum to see the cars, gadgets and costumes from the most recent James Bond film, including Bond’s iconic silver Aston Martin DB5.

“Our visitors to the Isle of Wight are excited about seeing Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday home Osborne House, while the people going to the Lake District love the serenity of the area, the included cruise on Lake Windermere, and scenic trip on the Settle-Carlisle Railway.

“For us at Majestic, the customers are always right and they know exactly what they like about the places they’re visiting. We’re there to ensure they get total entertainment and enjoyment from their break.”

So what are you waiting for? Book your UK summer break now with Majestic . To help you decide where to go, Ian has revealed some of this year’s most popular Majestic Tours seaside resort holidays. Which ones take your fancy?

A warm welcome always awaits you in Torquay. This traditional yet thriving seaside town set on Devon’s English Riviera coast was a top trending UK holiday destination in 2021 and it's easy to see why.

With its iconic palm trees, busy harbour, international marina, and wonderful array of continental style cafes, restaurants and cocktail bars, its attraction is obvious.

The Guardian described it as one of 'Britain’s most booming seaside towns, undergoing a style revival with Michelin-starred restaurants and swanky yachts'. You only have to stroll along the seafront or the promenade to see this is true.

One of Torquay’s most popular hotels is the fantastic Majestic Templestowe, pictured above . Owned by Majestic for over 30 years, it boasts some of the best nightly entertainment in the bay, famously friendly staff and a brilliant atmosphere. Majestic clients often visit several times over 12 months to experience the many seasonal themes at the hotel and then return year after year.

Ian said: "We're so proud of the fantastic reputation we've built up over the years. We urge prospective guests to check the customer reviews on TripAdvisor that have helped the Majestic Templestowe Hotel to be awarded Travellers Choice for another year."
