McFly have been one of the most successful bands of this age, and it's easy to understand why. Watching them live is one of the most interesting performances you will see in your life. My experience at one of their concerts consisted of mainly food talk, including them creating a theme tune for one of the burger vans at the stadium. Expect the unexpected! Even though they have released many albums, they are still amazingly talented, recently impressing everyone with one of their newer songs 'Love Is Easy.' Following the theme of love, check out the YouTube video of the wedding speech made by one of the boys, it is truly inspired and heart warming. It is set to one of their own songs 'All About You'. Some may say they have past their best, I think the exact opposite. Not only are the constantly improving their shows to make them even bigger and even better, they are still surprising fans. One the most recent excitements was the McBusted tour (a collaboration of McFly and Busted). Looking for a good McFly song to get you started? Try my original favourite 'Star Girl' or for something slightly less well known go for 'Broccoli.' Either way, you'll regret not listening to them. The only thing you'll regret more than that is not having tickets for their concert.

The five most wholesome moments from McFly’s set at Glastonbury

The band's long overdue debut appearance at Worthy Farm was a celebration of both their greatest hits and their legacy

Glastonbury may be one of the only places on the planet where McFly have appeared on the same stage as punk heroes John Cooper Clarke and The Damned . But seeing them perform at the delightfully eclectic, circus-themed Avalon Stage this afternoon (June 26), their booking makes total sense: they have big riffs and even bigger hooks, and can even inspire mini moshpits.

Today’s appearance is certainly a cause for celebration: for McFly, it’s a moment that has been almost 20 years in the making. From the release of 2004’s ‘Room On The 3rd Floor’ onwards, they’ve layered some irresistible cheese over their playful yet sincere pop-rock, and garnered BRIT Awards along the way – yet an invitation to play at Worthy Farm wasn’t offered for almost two decades. “To finally be here is a dream ticked off the bucket list,” vocalist and guitarist Tom Fletcher tells NME backstage.

Their hour-long set was built on simply having pure, unadulterated fun – to the point McFly almost became too good at their own game. The cause is established from the start: they walked onto the stage to Village People’s ‘YMCA’ (obviously) and even chucked in a karaoke-style cover of Queen ‘s ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’. Fletcher and his bandmates – bassist Dougie Poynter, guitarist and vocalist Danny Jones, drummer Harry Judd – remained deliberately silly in all the right places, and as a result, made for one of the most joyful sets of the weekend. Here are the most wholesome moments from McFly at Glastonbury 2022.

The crowd was in a proper party mood

30 minutes before McFly hit the stage, security were forced to close off the Fields of Avalon area due to the number of punters that had rocked up to watch the set. Those who were lucky enough to make it in had to duck and dive through a forest of inflatable unicorns and flamingo-shaped balloons just to get a peek of the Avalon Stage, while others stood and watched from the balcony of the neighbouring Avalon Inn. Delirious smiles were ubiquitous, however – McFly, perhaps, have always been the people’s boyband.

‘Star Girl’ provided the perfect Sunday afternoon serotonin boost

In need of a hangover cure? McFly can sort you out. You could argue that the secret to the band’s longevity is their collective knack to whack out a walloping chorus – and hit single ‘Star Girl’ is a prime example. When they drop the song halfway through, the tent turns into a joyous riot; one excitable fan even twirls around and tears open a supersized confetti canon from the middle of the crowd. It’s as though, for three wild and vibrant minutes, the festival’s collective comedown melts away entirely.

McFly were genuinely overjoyed to be there

When they weren’t reminding us about how excited they were to finally be at Glastonbury, McFly were cracking jokes about their legacy. “ Billie Eilish was two years old when this song came out!,” Poynter said after ‘Room On The 3rd Floor’. “If you enjoyed that [song], we are McFly; if not, we are Busted !,” continued Jones, by way of introduction. A brief moment of sincerity followed: “We really did not expect to see this many people,” said Jones. You’re telling us!

Newer tracks got as much love as the mega-hits

2020’s ‘Young Dumb Thrills’ marked the first McFly album in almost a decade, and hit Number Two in the charts. This afternoon, the four-piece aired two of the record’s buoyant singles, ‘Happiness’ and ‘Wild And Young’ – and they were received with as much warmth and adoration as some of the earlier material. During the former, Fletcher encouraged the audience to “make new friends and have a dance”. His wish was our command.

The band welcomed in a new generation of McFly fans

When McFly cartwheeled their way into the mainstream in the early noughties with their playful and unruly brand of guitar-driven hits, they provided an accessible gateway into rock music for young people. The riffs were massive, and their lightly rebellious aesthetic resembled that of new wave of pop-punk that was emerging across the pond at the time ( Fall Out Boy , Panic! At The Disco ).

Two decades on, and that mission still applies: at multiple times throughout the show, the band made a conscious effort to shout out and uplift the youngest fans in the crowd. One toddler sat atop a parent’s shoulders with a ‘McFly, you guys rock!’ sign made from a pizza box, while another sang each and every song into an inflatable microphone. Clearly, powerful and transformative moments were happening in real-time.

McFly have added two outdoor shows to their summer 2022 live plans.

The quartet have lined up performances within the grounds of Waddesdon Manor in Buckinghamshire on July 3, and Chewton Glen country house in the Hampshire countryside on July 17. Tickets go on general sale at 10am on November 26. Head here for pre-sale tickets. 

They already have gigs booked at Wicksteen Park in Kettering and Lincolnshire Showground in July, and Exmouth's Imperial Recreation Ground in September.

The band, who put out 'Young Dumb Thrills' in 2020, recently played their last gig of 2021 at the O2 Arena in London.

Pop superstars McFly have confirmed a special one-off show at London’s The O2 arena, ‘One Night Only....Again’ on Sunday 21st November 2021.

In November 2019 McFly played their most recent gig, ‘One Night Only’ at The O2 arena, a sold out stand-alone show to mark their reformation and return to music, especially for their fans.

So after such a long wait, McFly want to give their fans another coming together moment two years on from that monumental night at The O2 arena.

Tickets for the show are on pre- sale to McFly Total Access annual subscribers and O2 customers on Wednesday 16th at 9am, with general on sale Friday 18th at 9am. 

McFly recently launched their own streaming channel www. mcflytotalaccess.com as a way of connecting with their fans and giving content in age where we are in our own homes more than ever. Fans receive exclusive video content, live stream performances, band Q&A's and opportunities to get close to McFly in a way never seen before. McFly Total Access annual members also get first access to tickets, early entry and get followed by the band on Instagram.

Having signed their first record deal since 2009 with BMG, McFly have just released their highly anticipated new album 'Young Dumb Thrills', their first studio album in 10 years. The single 'Happiness' was A listed at Radio 2, with the band performing the track on both Britain's Got Talent and Radio 2's Live At Home.

•  You have proof of natural immunity by way of a positive PCR test at least 180 days ago

Clear Bag Policy 

To remove the need for bag searches, The O2 has implemented a new clear bag policy, this means that all customers’ belongings must be in a 100% clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag. 

• For everyone’s safety and security it’s better if you do not bring a bag at all to the arena. 

• We will only allow clear and transparent bags no larger than A4 size (20x10cm). 

• If you have to bring a non-transparent bag with you, you can leave it at our bag storage facility just outside the main entrance to The O2 at a cost of £10 per bag. 

• All bags will be searched and screened before being accepted into the bag storage facility. 

• Backpacks, laptop bags, handbags and clutch bags are not permitted inside the arena unless they’re clear and transparent.

McFly tour 2022 is rocking Exmouth this year

The pop band are performing at Live in Devon at Exmouth’s Imperial Recreation Ground on September 3

Tickets are on sale and excitement is building for the new three-day music festival taking place in Exmouth in September.

Live in Devon is running at the town’s Imperial Recreation Ground from September 2 to 4, with pop band McFly headlining the event on Saturday, September 3.

The headline acts for the other evenings, and the support act for McFly, are yet to be announced.

McFly – Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd – shot to fame in 2004 and racked up 19 top 10 hits, including seven number ones, in just under a decade.

The band took their name from the Back to the Future character Marty McFly and are best known for their catchy hits including Five Colours in Her Hair, All About You and Star Girl.

Carlie Davidson of concert promoter LCC Live said: “With seven UK number one singles, six top 10 albums, six sell-out tours, four million tickets and 10 million albums sold worldwide, McFly are without question one of the most significant British pop acts of the 21st century, so we’re delighted to have them join us in Exmouth for the Saturday night of Live in Devon.

“We expect demand for tickets to be high for this family-friendly evening of live music under the Exmouth night sky.”

The festival is expected to attract more than 15,000 music lovers to the town over the course of the weekend, bringing a significant economic boost to the area.

Here’s all you need to know about the McFly concert.

How much are tickets and where can I buy them?

General admission standing tickets cost £42.50 (£46.75 including booking fee), golden circle tickets cost £55 (£60.50 including booking fee), and tickets for the uncovered seated stand cost £55 (£60.50 including booking fee).

You can buy up to 20 tickets. All under-16s must be accompanied by an adult over 18. Children under one year old are admitted free of charge and do not require a ticket.

The official online ticketing agencies are Ticketmaster (you can purchase tickets here ) , Ticketline and Gigantic.

When will tickets be sent out? Wheelchair platform tickets can be booked by calling 0844 888 9991 or emailing [email protected] .

Tickets will be dispatched around four weeks before the concert.

What time do the gates open?

Gates open at 6pm. The box office opens at 5pm. All times are subject to change.

Once you have passed through security and bag checks you will not be able to leave the concert arena. If you leave, you will not be able to re-enter.

What can I do if I have lost my ticket?

Tickets and wristbands cannot be replaced under any circumstances so keep your ticket safe.

What can I bring into the arena?

An empty plastic or aluminium water bottle so you can use the free water refill points within the venue

One unopened 500ml bottle of water

Can I bring food, drink, chairs, tents or umbrellas?

Any form of chair including deckchairs, camping chairs, folding chairs, gazebos and tents are prohibited

You are allowed to bring in one unopened 500ml bottle of water

No alcohol or food

There will be a full bar and a variety of catering facilities meeting all dietary needs at the show

People with specific dietary needs for diabetes etc should bring a note or medical ID and present this to the senior stewards at the event entrance

No professional cameras or cameras with a zoom lens are allowed into the arena

Will there be a cash machine at the event and will the vendors accept card payments?

No cash machines are available on site.

Some vendors may accept payment by credit or debit card.

Is car parking available?

Car parking is available within Exmouth town centre and accessibility parking is available next to the venue at the Imperial Road Car Park or Camperdown Terrace Car Park.

Is there a drop-off and pick-up point?

No, there is not a designated drop-off or pick-up point at the venue.

What are the public transport options?

The nearest train station is Exmouth with trains to all major areas of Devon. The station is around 500 metres from the entrance gates.

Will the concert go ahead if it rains?

Yes, concerts are only ever cancelled due to the weather conditions if conditions become dangerous.

Can I buy official merchandise?

Yes, a wide range of merchandise will be on sale.

Here are the do’s and don’ts:

Do have your ticket with you at all times

Do arrive in good time before the start of the concert

Do allow ample time to take advantage of the toilet facilities

Do bring clothing suitable for all weather conditions

Do put any rubbish in the bins provided

Do avoid unlicensed traders outside of the grounds offering inferior goods

Do consider local residents when entering and exiting the arena

Do check local media for traffic updates

Do be aware that roads in and out of Exmouth are expected to be busy on concert days so allow plenty of time to travel to the site and make your way to the venue

Do double check all the event details and make sure you’re 100% happy before buying tickets as tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded unless the event is cancelled completely

Do not smoke outside of the designated smoking areas

Do not bring in flag poles, only small telescopic retractable poles will be permitted

Samara Joy is Next – A New Gold Standard for Jazz Vocalists

Once-in-a-generation vocalist Samara Joy has signed with Verve Records , and will release Linger Awhile , her full-length debut for the label, on September 16. At just 22 years old, Samara has already garnered critical acclaim for a voice “as rich as custard” ( The New York Times ) and a delivery that is  “disarming [and] unhurried” ( NPR Fresh Air ), just as she has built a devoted following on TikTok and made avowed fans of Regina King, LaKeith Stanfield, and others. The Bronx native took home the 2019 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition prize while still in college and performed on The Today Show earlier this year. Samara “wowed audiences” (WPRI) at the Newport Jazz Festival debut this past weekend as the “exciting boundary-stretcher” ( The Boston Globe ) made her debut and earned multiple standing ovations in the process.

Linger Awhile finds Samara updating beloved songs with a modern twist, sometimes singing original lyrics using the melodies of famous instrumental solos, a style known as vocalese. Recorded at Sear Sound in New York City and featuring exemplary musicianship by Pasquale Grasso (guitar), Ben Paterson (piano), David Wong (double bass), and Kenny Washington (drums), the tracklist is comprised of reinvented classics including “Someone to Watch Over Me” (George Gershwin), “’Round Midnight” (Thelonious Monk), and “Nostalgia (The Day I Knew)” (Fats Navarro). Linger Awhile not only highlights Samara’s timeless vocals and a musical wisdom beyond her years, it also introduces this foundational popular music to a fresh audience.

“I am deeply honored to be a part of a roster that has included so many of my greatest vocal inspirations: Sarah, Billie, Ella, and Betty to name a few,” says Samara about her Verve debut. “Being a part of this lineage is humbling, and I will continue to use all of the inspiration gleaned from them to pursue my own unique journey as a singer and an artist.”

Samara Joy has also announced a new string of 2022 tour dates throughout Europe and North America. The young vocalist will play club dates, festivals and cultural institutions, plus highly-anticipated NYC hometown shows at The Blue Note. Later this year, Samara will perform with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra for a handful of dates across the midwest before several holiday shows in December. Music has always been a guiding presence within Samara’s family. Her grandparents, Elder Goldwire and Ruth McLendon, led the well-known Philadelphia-based gospel group, The Savettes, and her father toured with the renowned Andrae Crouch. Although her earliest influences are the gospel and R&B sounds of Stevie Wonder, Lalah Hathaway, George Duke, and Musiq Soulchild, Samara fell in love with jazz while attending Fordham High School for the Arts, where she performed regularly with the jazz band and eventually won Best Vocalist at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Essentially Ellington competition. Samara attended SUNY Purchase and recently graduated as the Ella Fitzgerald Scholar.

Samara Joy, born and raised in the Bronx, has dazzled crowds at jazz clubs, festivals, and cultural institutions across the globe, performed on NBC’s  Today Show with Hoda and Jenna , and earned glowing public endorsements from the likes of  Regina King ,  LaKeith Stanfield , and many others. While she is influenced by the greats like Ella Fitzgerald and Carmen McRae, Samara takes a contemporary approach to her art and performance as evidenced by her massive  TikTok  following. Her Verve Records debut album  Linger Awhile  - named one of the  Best Jazz Albums of 2022  by The New York Times - is a 10-song collection of beloved tunes, updated for a new generation. Recorded at Sear Sound in New York City by Chris Allen and produced by Matt Pierson,  Linger Awhile  features exemplary musicianship by Pasquale Grasso (guitar), Ben Paterson (piano), David Wong (double bass), and Kenny Washington (drums). 

In addition to several New York City performances with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra as a special guest on their Big Band Holidays tour, Samara will be presenting “Samara Joy: A Joyful Holiday!” in four markets, where her family members will also be featured. Full tour schedule below.

Agression de Samara à Montpellier : les enseignants du collège en grève et en colère contre Nicole Belloubet

Vingt jours après la violente agression de Samara (13 ans) devant collège Arthur-Rimbaud de Montpellier (Hérault), les professeurs n’ont pas repris le travail ce lundi au retour des vacances. Ils dénoncent notamment les propos de Nicole Belloubet, la ministre de l’Éducation nationale.

La pilule ne passe pas. Les enseignants du collège de Montpellier, à proximité duquel une élève, Samara, avait été agressée début avril , n’ont pas repris les cours lundi au retour des vacances, « indignés » par les répercussions sur leur établissement et ce qu’ils perçoivent comme un « désaveu » de leur ministre. « Nous avons toutes et tous été dévastés par ce qui est arrivé à Samara », a déclaré devant le collège Arthur-Rimbaud un enseignant, lisant devant une trentaine de ses collègues un texte approuvé en assemblée générale par le personnel de cet établissement d’environ 830 élèves situé dans un quartier défavorisé.

Mais, a-t-il ajouté, le personnel éducatif est aussi « profondément indigné par les déclarations diffamatoires » véhiculées par certains médias, « par la famille de Samara » et par les « récupérations politiques ». L’équipe « déplore » une absence de reconnaissance la part de la ministre de l’Éducation, Nicole Belloubet , « qui a simplement assuré que son bras ne tremblerait pas  », a complété un de ses collègues.

« Nous n’avons pu ce jour envisager une reprise des enseignements tant ces propos ministériels sonnent encore pour nous comme un profond désaveu », indiquent aussi les personnels, qui décideront mardi matin s’ils reconduisent ou non leur mouvement de grève. La phrase de Nicole Belloubet a été ressentie comme un désaveu « parce que cela a nourri des accusations portées par d’autres personnes », a estimé la rectrice de l’académie de Montpellier, Sophie Béjean, interrogée lundi par l’AFP.

La rectrice tente d’éteindre le feu

« Je connais ce collège, je sais que c’est un établissement engagé, notamment contre le harcèlement, qui fait réussir ses élèves », a ajouté la rectrice venue lundi matin rencontrer les personnels pour leur « redire toute (sa) confiance ». « Seules les enquêtes administrative et judiciaire permettront de clarifier les faits et de définir les responsabilités », a-t-elle ajouté.

Selon le parquet, l’agression le 2 avril de Samara, 13 ans, a eu lieu « dans le contexte d’un groupe d’adolescents qui avaient l’habitude de s’invectiver » sur les réseaux sociaux. Trois mineurs de 14 et 15 ans ont été mis en examen pour « tentative d’homicide volontaire » et placés sous contrôle judiciaire. Dans les médias, la mère de la jeune fille avait laissé entendre que l’agression revêtait une dimension religieuse, Samara ayant selon elle été traitée de « mécréante », ce que n’a pas confirmé le parquet à ce stade. Elle avait aussi accusé le personnel du collège de ne pas avoir pris de mesures suffisantes pour protéger sa fille.

« Le collège a toujours été un lieu d’apprentissage respecté et aimé, avec une équipe éducative dévouée (…) Les récents événements ne doivent en aucun cas ternir (sa) réputation », a estimé lundi le comité des parents d’élèves.

Samara, une adolescente de 13 ans frappée début avril devant son collège de Montpellier, va reprendre les cours à distance et les élèves mis en cause dans son agression vont eux passer devant un conseil disciplinaire, a indiqué dimanche le rectorat de cette académie.

Afin «de faire toute la lumière sur les faits» , l'enquête administrative lancée par la ministre de l'Éducation Nicole Belloubet , qui avait déjà été prolongée d'une semaine mi-avril, va, elle, se poursuivre, tout comme l'enquête judiciaire menée sous l'autorité du parquet, selon la même source.

L'état de santé de Samara «s'est amélioré mais ne lui permettra pas de reprendre les cours dès ce lundi 22 avril» , a écrit le rectorat dans un communiqué à la veille de la fin des vacances scolaires de la zone C, où figure Montpellier. «En accord avec la maman de Samara, un accompagnement à distance est mis en place, afin que Samara puisse bénéficier d'une continuité pédagogique depuis son domicile, dans l'attente de son retour en établissement» , a-t-il ajouté.

Les élèves mis en cause ne pourront pas rentrer dans l’établissement

La jeune fille, grièvement blessée, a été dans le coma et en est sortie le lendemain de l'agression . Les élèves mis en cause vont se voir pour le moment refuser l'entrée à leur établissement et ils devront passer «à brève échéance» devant des conseils de discipline «afin de statuer sur les suites à donner pour chacun» .

La cellule d'écoute qui avait été mise en place le lendemain de l'agression, survenue le 2 avril, afin de recueillir la parole des élèves mais aussi des personnels va rester active «au moins la première semaine de la reprise des cours» . Il en est de même pour les équipes mobiles académiques de sécurité (EMAS) qui resteront mobilisées au moins la première semaine de la reprise dans ce collège.

Selon le parquet de Montpellier, cette agression a eu lieu «dans le contexte d'un groupe d'adolescents qui avaient l'habitude de s'invectiver» sur les réseaux sociaux et d'y publier des photos. Trois mineurs de 14 et 15 ans qui ont reconnu avoir frappé l'adolescente ont été mis en examen pour «tentative d'homicide volontaire» et placés sous contrôle judiciaire.

Exemple pratique de gestion de la délinquance des mineurs. Si on comprend bien : pas d'école, pas de prison, pas de passage dans un centre éducatif : c'est maigre. Ne reste que la parole éventuelle des parents. tatal n'a donc rien fait à l'EN?

Doit-on donc comprendre que les agresseurs "pourraient" reprendre les cours? et qu'aucune sanction "disciplinaire" n'a encore été prise à leur égard? Serait-ce une blague? Ou de mauvaises infos du Fig?
