A sports networking event secured by Springfield tourism organizations will bring "business opportunities" with it, according to a local official.
The Missouri Travel Alliance selected Springfield as the host of the 2024 Missouri Sports Travel Exchange, according to a news release. The event is scheduled March 4-6 at University Plaza and Convention Center.

The Missouri Sports Travel Exchange pairs regional and national sports event organizations with destinations and venues that can host them in the Show Me State. Networking, educational sessions and one-on-one business exchanges are part of the event plans.
Lance Kettering, executive director of the Springfield Sports Commission, said the economic impact of the event is projected at $40,000.
"The real value in this event is the potential business opportunities from hosting organizations from around the country that host sporting events," he said via email.
