The GMC Safari GMT400 1999 4.3i is fitted with 6Jx15 ET31 rims with tires 205/75 R15 110R as standard. Where is:
- 6J — rim width in inches;
- 15" — fitting rubber diameter in inches;
- ET31 — offset of the disk in millimeters.
Vehicle tyre markings 205/75 R15 are deciphered as follows:
- 205 — PROFILE width (cross section of the tyre) in millimetres;
- 75 — profile height in percentage of its width;
- R — radial winding of the cord;
- 15 — tyre diameter in inches..
In addition, information about its carrying capacity and speed parameters — load index and speed index — can be applied to rubber. The load index is a two or three-digit number, the speed index is indicated by Latin letters, e.g. 110R:
- 110 — the maximum allowable amount of weight the tire can carry 1060 kg;
- R — the maximum allowable vehicle speed of 170 km/h.
Using the recommended tire sizes will help to avoid problems with driving management, safety and other difficulties. What non-standard sizes can be fitted? Please refer to the table above for possible alternative sizes for tuning. Although there may be other options that we have not described in the table. For example, discs that are wider than the same diameter. Or fit wheels of the same width, but of a larger diameter, which is quite popular among car owners. The choice of disks is huge, you can find copies with the same parameters, but with a offset size of 1-2 millimeters more or less. It is not possible to list all the options.
In this case, the bolt pattern is the same for all types of wheels — 5x127. Thus, all discs are mounted on five bolts and the distance between them is exactly one hundred twenty seven millimeters. Car hub diameter 78.3 mm.

What is the tyre pressure?
It is the driver's responsibility to constantly monitor tyre pressure. This will avoid standard problems associated with the operation of the vehicle. Non-nominal pressure values often cause:
- driving impairments;
- uneven tread wear.
Often the car owner independently reduces the pressure in the wheels of his own vehicle. Wheel Dimensions
There are four important measurements that are used to categorize and identify a wheel for fitment purposes.
- Rim Diameter The actual diameter of the wheel at the point where the tire bead seats ( NOT the outer lip of the rim).
- Rim Width Measure from the inside of the outer lip at the bead seating point to the inner lip.
- Back Spacing From the inside of the wheel at the point where it contacts the hub, brake drum or axle flange to the inside edge (lip) of the wheel.
- Bolt Pattern The measured diameter of an imaginary circle formed by the centers of the wheel lugs or bolt holes.
How To Measure Wheel Bolt Pattern
If there is an EVEN number of lugs: Measure center-to-center on lugs directly across from each other.
If there is an ODD number of lugs: Measure from the CENTER of one lug to the OUTER EDGE of the hole diagonally across from it.

Hub Center Bore
Wheel Offset
Wheel offset is the distance from the mounting surface of the wheel to the true center line of the rim. A positive offset means the mounting surface of the wheel is positioned in front of the true center line of the rim / tire assembly. This in effect brings the tire in to the fender well more. Conversely, a negative offset means the mounting surface of the wheel is behind the true center line of the rim / tire assembly. This will cause the tire to stick out away from the vehicle.
H = High - Positive Offset, typically FWD (Front Wheel Drive) +45, 40, 35 offsets
M = Medium - Neutral Offset, typically RWD (Rear Wheel Drive) +20 offset
L = Low - Zero to Negative Offset, Offset typically RWD (Rear Wheel Drive) 0 offset

I was getting the U1041 loss communication code and ABS light on my truck. I sent it to Module Master for a rebuild. Before sending it back, I received a call from the Tech that did the rebuild. He told me what was wrong with the controller and what steps were done to fix it. He also suggested what to do during the re-install to prevent any further issues with the re-built module in the future. So far so good. The light is gone and the ABS is working correctly after a driving brake check. Thanks Module Master.
Problem: several codes, abs and traction control lights were on.
Diagnosis: I started checking my wheel speed sensors using an oscilloscope, all of my sensors were outputting signals. (Can also be done with multimeter). Then I checked the wiring to the abs module by taking resistance measurements of the wheel sensors before and after the wiring. Also checked for shorts to ground. Then I cleaned the module ground near drivers door as recommended by service bulletin. Finally I checked powers and ground via back probe at the module. Finally decided only bad module was left. Sent my module in and got it back the next week. It fixed all of the dash lights and no more codes were present. Highly recommended.
The codes that it fixed: C0223,C0226,C0227,C0227,C0235,C0236 There were even more codes at one point, but I cleared the module in when diagnosing.
No problems and I dont expect any. Thanks

Turned around as promised. Very nicely packed for shipping. Returned very clean. Early yet, but my rebuilt ABS control module appears to be working. Urban area so no handy rough or gravel road to really test. 2001 GMC Sierra - with the GM “bug” that when ABS module triggers a dash light, the “Brake” warning light is also ON. Texas inspections allow a pass for ABS warning but not if there is a Brake warning. This is stupidity by GM as brakes work normally if ABS control not working - so the Brake warning should not be on unless there is a sensor triggered on fluid level or E-Brake, etc. Many thanks to Module Masters - who were referred to me by my mechanic friend.

I bought new rims and tires for my 2000 Safari and need to sell stock rims w/tires. Had two close matches does anyone know about bolt patterns/year model? Told they fit Astros? Does anyone know if they fit any other GMC/Chevy?
Safari and Astro are basically the same vehicle , there is a variety of GM vehicles that have same bolt pattern which I think is 5 in , if you google you will find out which ones , as I believe the C , K 1/2 ton , full size impala , etc will fit same size wheel

They're 5 x 5. I'm pretty sure the full-sized trucks are the same. I do know Blazers/Jimmys/Bravadas are not 5 x 5; they're 5 x 4.75 so they don't fit.
I'm doing the same thing this weekend replacing my wheels and tires.... Are theses worth trying to sell online? Or should I just let the tire shop dispose of everything? What are they worth?

Awesome information! I was just about to ask this. At the risk of hijacking this thread, I have a question relating to the 2003+ Astro/Safari: Just to confirm, an early 2000's Chevy Silverado set of 16" 6 lug chrome wheels should fit, right? (but must be from a 2wd)? I found a guy on craigslist who has a shop a couple of hours away. He says he has a mint set of these SIlverado rims in chrome, with center caps from Georgia, so never seen snow or salt. I'm assuming they are (and must be from) a 2wd truck. If so, they should fit my 2wd 2005 Astro, right? They look identical to the 16 steel wheels have now, only mine are painted and these are chromed. I want these chrome wheels for my 3 season tires. I bit the bullet and bought winter tires and put them on my stock painted steel wheels. I was going to go there tomorrow, weather permitting. Thought it would be good to ask this first before driving over 2 hours each way. I may not be able to go in my Astro, so test-fitting may not be possible. We might go in another vehicle.
