Besides its natural beauty, the place is strongly influenced by Buddhist culture. So, there are monasteries where you will find historical artifacts. You will be able to cover many of such places by opting for the Sikkim trip budget.

Sikkim darjeeling tour plan from Chennai is incomplete without trying authentic Sikkimese cuisine. At Gangtok there are several restaurants that serve local dishes, apart from that there are many options for street food as well. Dal and rice is the staple food for Sikkimese, apart from that Sael Roti, Churpi Soup, Dhindo, etc. are quite unique. Along with these there are Thukpa, Momo, etc.

At Tourist Hub India, you will get a budget Sikkim Darjeeling package from Chennai for 5 days where you can stay in Gangtok without spending much. The expense depends on how many days you are staying, what are the places you are visiting, where you are staying, and your food choices. Gangtok has budget hotels, and restaurants so one can afford a decent trip to Sikkim.

Sikkim trip packages for 5 days with Tourist Hub India will offer you to cover quite a few places. You need to visit our website, there you will be able to see all the packages. Firstly, you need to decide which part of Sikkim you want to visit. Once you are sure of the places, all you need is to pick a package and book it online.

Lachung is a tiny village situated in northeast Sikkim. North Sikkim tour packages include this place as from Lachung one has to connect to Yumthang. This place is worth visiting because it offers an amazing natural beauty. In winter you can experience snowfall, and during spring you will witness blooming flowers. Another attraction of Lachung is the Buddhist Monastery. Lachung is only connected by road from Gangtok, and cars need special permits for it.

Darjeeling is the northern district of West Bengal which is situated at the height of 2042m. The place rarely receives snowfall in winter. The temperature goes down up to -2 degree Celsius. According to records, Darjeeling received snowfall in 2008. However, Sandakphu being the highest point of West Bengal, witnesses snowfall every year. So, if you are someone who loves snow, you can plan a Sikkim tour package with Tourist Hub India in winter because parts of Sikkim receive snowfall during December to February.

Popular gangtok tour packages, gangtok tour packages faqs.

Q. Which is the best time to visit Gangtok? A. April to June are the best months to visit the capital of Sikkim, and you should take this into consideration as you look to book one of the Gangtok travel packages. These are the summer months when the weather is just pleasant lingering around 26 degree Celsius in daytime and dropping to around 4 degree Celsius at night. The crisp sunshine in the day makes it the ideal time to visit monasteries, take up treks and hikes, go on an excursion to the tea gardens of Temi in South Sikkim and enjoy a clear view of the Kanchenjunga from the viewpoints. Summer is the best time to visit places like Yumthang Valley in North Sikkim, Lake Tsomgo, Rumtek Monastery and Goecha La. Q. Can I get a direct flight from Delhi to Gangtok? A. While booking your Gangtok packages, it is imperative to know which flights go directly to Gangtok. While Pakyong Airport is the local airport of Gangtok which is about 35 kilometre from Gangtok, it offers only limited connectivity by way of getting a direct flight. There is a SpiceJet flight which is the only direct flight from Delhi to Gangtok, but is not always available. In order to reach Gangtok, the nearest air-head is the Bagdogra International Airport, about 124 kilometre from Gangtok. From Bagdogra you can get decent connectivity of flights from Delhi. In fact all major airlines like SpiceJet, IndiGo, GoAir, Vistara and AirAsia run direct flights between Delhi and Bagdogra. From Bagdogra airport, you can hire a taxi directly to your hotel in Gangtok, which can take around 4 hours. Q. Can I see snow in Gangtok during winter? A. As you finalise one of the Gangtok holiday packages, you need to decide in which season you would like to slate your visit. Though Gangtok winters are quite cold with the temperature hovering around 4 degree Celsius and dropping to sub-zero levels at nighttime, the city seldom experiences snowfall. Though the roads to higher altitude places from Gangtok such as Lake Tsomgo and Nathula Pass shut down owing to heavy snowfall. The heavy fog in winter also makes viewing of the Himalayan ranges extremely difficult. Q. Which is a must-visit monastery in Gangtok? A. About 24 kilometre from Gangtok is the Rumtek Monastery, one of Sikkim’s most beautiful as well as largest. Originally commissioned to be built by the 12 th Karmapa Lama in the 18 th century, this monastery is located in the most picturesque of surroundings. It has snow- capped peaks in the front, a river gurgling underneath and mountain stream gushing down the hill slopes behind. The monastery houses monks who continue to carry on the practices of the Karma Kagyu lineage. To the opposite of the monastery lies the Karma Shri Nalanda Institute for Higher Buddhist Studies. Q. Is it possible to do a bike ride to Gangtok? A. You can use the NH31A which the highway connecting Sikkim to other parts of India. It is possible to rent a motorbike from Jalpaiguri or Siliguri and bike down to Gangtok which will take you around 6 hours including the halts you make along the way. The drive is an extremely scenic one with the Teesta River trailing along through the journey outside of the vibrant mountain scenery. Q. How to visit Tsomgo Lake from Gangtok? A. The Tsomgo Lake is about 40 kilometre from Gangtok and is best viewed in early spring and late autumn when you can behold a partly frozen lake. It is also the season when the stalls selling tea and momos come up around the lake. Lake Tsomgo, a glacial lake, is at an altitude of 12,401 foot and opens up panoramic views of the Himalayas going all the way up into the Tibetan Plateau. You can hire a taxi to take you on a return journey to Tsomgo and back. The drive one way can take nearly 2 hours. The cobalt lake makes for a wonderful photo opportunity. The lake freezes in winter and may not be reachable. Q. Can I visit Gangtok in monsoon? A. July to September mark the monsoon months when Sikkim on the whole receives intense rainfalls, making landslides quite the order. It is a good season to view the waterfalls around Gangtok and outside and even the Valley of Flowers in North Sikkim. You cannot pursue hikes and treks in this season as the roads become treacherous and the mountain slopes slippery. Though Gangtok hotels get quite cheap and it is easy to get a star-hotel at a good price. You can stay at the hotel and enjoy its amenities and venture out when the rain halts, but you cannot necessarily stick to an itinerary. The day temperature hovers around 16 degree Celsius while the nights are colder at around 3 degree Celsius. Q. What is Gangtok’s Namgyal Institute of Tibetology famous for? A. The building resembles a Tibetan palace with turrets. Its facade is rich in murals and is surrounded by lush forests. The main hall houses a collection of Tibetan cultural artifacts and iconography. You will find trumpets made of human thigh bones and odd objects like a tantric skullcap bowl. There is also the bronze statue of Namgyalama, the eight-armed victory goddess. Head upstairs to the library and view the religious scriptures housed in teak and class casings. From the institute, you are a short walk away to the Deorali taxi stand and the Deorali Bazaar Ropeway Station. Q. Is it worth visiting Ganesh Tok in Gangtok? A. Ganesh Tok is almost next door to the Himalayan Zoological Park. Ganesh Tok is otherwise a viewpoint affording stunning views of the Gangtok City and the Sikkimese Himalayas. You can even view as far as the Royal Palace which is shrouded by trees just beyond the Enchey Gompa. It is a great place to stop by, soak up the views and the surrounding solitude. Q. Which is the nearest railway station to Gangtok? A. Tourists looking to book Gangtok tour packages would wish to know which is the nearest railhead to Gangtok. Siliguri and New Jalpaiguri are the stations nearest to Gangtok. Siliguri is about 145 kilometre from Gangtok while New Jalpaiguri is about 188 kilometre from Gangtok. These railway stations are well connected by means of express and other fast trains to the major metros of the country. From both the railway stations, you can get a bus or hire a taxi to take you directly to Gangtok.
