built for service, powered by experience

Corporate Travel Management (CTM)  is a Travel Management Company (TMC), yet our responsiveness and flexibility provide you with the kind of attention that might be more commonly associated with a traditional travel agency.   In today's world of impersonal, "bottom-line" travel management, we believe our   service culture separates us from the competition.

Our History

Daryl Swiss and Teresa Doherty, CTM Founders

CTM began operations in 1990 and our goal has always been to provide client companies with comprehensive, high-quality travel services while also maximizing the value of their travel budgets.

Reinforcing this commit ment to quality & value is the fact that CTM  does not require long-term service agreements .  We feel that the industry practice of  "locking in" a client to a long-term contract tends to encourage mediocre service. Of course, we understand varying corporate cultures and are happy to construct a tailored contract to suit your company's specific needs.

In short, we  are easy to do business with -  we have proven it since 1990!

Our Mission

CTM's original logo

We strive to combine first-class service with the travel industry's most progressive technologies and services.  Throughout Corporate Travel Management's continuous growth, we invested wisely in the staff and technologies that enable us to deliver the services and savings you require.  Our broad capabilities mean we have the bandwidth to support just about any customer needs now- and in the future.

We'll help you reduce travel spend instantly, and assist in developing and enforcing the policies and rates that keep costs down.  Our programs are customized for each customer- putting you in control and effectively reducing unnecessary or wasteful travel spend.  Our useful travel apps and personal assistance ensure the best travel experiences for your valuable employees.

Another way of putting it - we focus on keeping financial management  happy ,  the travelers  happy  and the administrative staff  happy .

At Corporate Travel Management our philosophy is simple: We believe that if we take care of our employees that they will, in turn, take care of our clients. Our experienced, highly trained Travel Advisors curate experiences for our clients that are integral to our organization’s continued success. We pride ourselves on the breadth and depth of experience of our associates. The collective sum of those individual differences, backgrounds, knowledge, inventiveness, innovation, self-expression, unique capabilities, and talent that our employees invest in their work represents a significant part of not only our culture but our reputation and company’s achievement as well. We embrace our diversity and differences. We are grounded on the one value we all share together: delivering an exceptional travel experience for our clients and their associates.

ETC Executive Travel Consultants, Ltd

Corporate Travel Services

Executive Travel Consultants is a locally owned corporate travel management (CTM) company based in Bellevue, WA. We specialize in providing business travelers with the technology and support needed to take your business travel to a whole new height. We can provide you and your business travelers with better executive travel solutions for less than you may think.

Established in 1984 ETC is today considered to be a premier provider of corporate travel management services throughout Washington state and beyond. We take pride in the quality corporate business travel services we offer to corporate travelers, business travelers, executive travelers and travel managers alike. ETC is equally proud of our record for staff retention. Having the same travel support staff and travel consultants over time simply helps our clients to put their trust in ETC’s corporate travel management services . Working to provide thecorporate traveler with better travel practices and the best travel experience is what we do every day.

Each ETC travel consultant has a home office which creates a healthy working atmosphere whilst also helping the environment by reducing the need for daily commutes. Our team of experienced corporate travel consultants also have each worked within the travel industry for more than 20 years and for more than 15 years at ETC.

We make life as easy and as comfortable as possible for your corporate business traveler , travel manager, and executive travelers whist even getting the company accountant to smile. We build a unique businesstravel profile for each traveler and use that information to source the best possible deals, routes and hotels. We can also help to organize meetings and conferences, team building activities, hotel dining events, tours, dream vacations and more.

The devil is in the detail. That’s why we also help with visas, preferred seating, in-flight meals, and hotel reservations all based upon your requirements and budget. We can also arrange airport transportation tailored to each traveler’s needs. If you need us to organize a group meeting or conference – wherever that may be in the world – then we will arrange the space to suit your vision and everything in it from the layout to the table decorations. Depending on the size of the meeting we always strive to negotiate group air fares and room rates.

We use state-of-the-art travel management software and technologies to help us streamline travel and manage travel better. But it is also important to note that we never rely solely on a single technology.

Travel used to be a simple thing; people would book a seat on one of the few available flights and, if it was for business, they would put their receipts in an envelope. When they got back to the office, they would uncrumple them, put them in date order and try to remember exactly what they were for.

In today’s fast-moving world, corporate travel and its management can be much more complex. But with the travel systems in place today, ETC can provide business travelers with a much simpler approach to their part in travel management.

Our corporate travel management services have become more sophisticated yet easier for travelers while keeping our ETC travel consultants up with the never-ending travel related technological advances. All our corporate travel management services, from the online booking to integrated expense reporting, are built to easily integrate with Deem and Concur , two of the travel industries leaders in integrated travel and expense management. Both companies help ETC to provide the information that business travelers need when and wherever they need it. You and your corporate travelers can access travel information using a desktop, smartphone or tablet from anywhere in the world with an internet connection.

Our corporate travel clients can be assured, that whenever a business traveler is faced with booking their own flight(s), your ETC travel consultant is checking each and every reservation to ensure that it is the best value for both the traveler and the company.

We like to build long-term business relationships with corporate business travelers, executive travelers, travel managers and their company. A demonstration of our resolve is the fact that we don’t charge to set up and maintain Deem and Concur; and, can also provide the training needed to use these platforms. A quick search online for “corporate travel management” will easily introduce you to many travel agencies charging large upfront fees for similar or the same services.

Our team is also required to be as knowledgeable about international travel as they are domestic, for both the business and leisure travel markets alike. To highlight just one of the ways that this benefits our corporate travel clients, we can look at the international rate desk. To supply our clients with almost instantaneous international pricing and ticketing, our travel consultants are international rate desk trained; this means saving time for our travelers by not having to wait around for a rate desk to confirm pricing.

Should any of our corporate travelers need help outside of our office hours, then they can choose to be transferred to Travel Helpline; a company that we have worked with and trusted since 1997. Travel help for our CTM clients and their business travelers are always available.

Our business ethic is to create happy travelers and happy accountants. We generate profiles for each of our travelers. In this way, we can be confident that they will be happy with their flights and accommodations whilst ensuring we don’t go over budget.

One of the many ways we provide value to our CTM clients, is by ensuring that our average ticket price comes out lower than any other agency. Our ability to add value is down to our experience in the industry. We travel extensively and your ETC travel consultant can often provide up to date tips and tricks that will help you to get through a particular airport.

Business travelers often have time to kill and we can help advise about local events and things to see and do. Obviously though, we don’t know about every corner of the world and this is where our Travel Savers global network consortium comes into play. We partner with other quality, mid-size travel agencies around the world, so that our travelers can rely on local knowledge and support.

What works for a business traveler also applies to someone traveling for leisure purposes. If something goes wrong, then there is no substitute for local knowledge and advice. All it takes is a call, an SMS or email to our office and we can immediately begin to resolve the problem.

For a deceptively simple reason: we think like you do when applying our expertise in travel planning and management. The result? Your company wins with resourceful uncovering of low fares and rates while simultaneously enjoying top-notch personalized service.

And you become a hero. To your managers. And to your traveling colleagues.

Executive Travel Consultants approaches travel planning differently than other travel agents by beginning with a special recognition of the role you play in your company. We are well aware that, as a travel manager, you face tough and often contradictory competing demands. On one hand, you are charged with finding ways to minimize your company's travel budget, but you also are expected to appease the demands of your corporate travelers.

By understanding the challenges you face, we've applied our more than 25 years of experience as a travel agency to create a unique set of services focused on making you a hero.

To make you a hero to your CFO, we use a carefully selected combination of top-notch technology tools to uncover low fares and rates, and follow-up the travel planning activities with reports and counsel on the best way to reduce your marketing expenditures even further. Consider this: while the industry average domestic airfare is $460, our average booking is $401 (or the industry average international airfare of $2,153 compared to our average booking of $1,881).

any image can go here

To make you a hero to your corporate travelers, we provide a degree of customer service we encourage you to compare against any other travel agency. Think of us as the Nordstrom of lore. When one of your travelers needs to change plans half way through a business trip, she won't have to endure a mind-numbing phone tree of options and on-hold waits. Instead, your traveler will reach a human being immediately familiar with her itinerary and individual preferences. And she can reach us any time, day or night.

For travelers wanting to book their own arrangements, we offer an online reservation service, but we go one step further by then reviewing those online bookings to make sure that the traveler is, indeed, traveling at the lowest fare and headed to the intended place-say Portland, Oregon, instead of Portland, Maine. Our intent is to provide the kind of quality, personalized service that enables your corporate travelers to focus their time on their business duties rather than wasting unproductive time surfing from website to website in pursuit of a lower airfare.

Ultimately, we make you a hero by thinking about travel like you do, and then applying expertise gained from 25+ years as a travel agency employing top-notch technology and savvy, customer-centric travel professionals. The result? Overcoming your workplace dilemma of finding low-cost travel to keep your expense line in line-or even lower it-while pleasing even your most demanding corporate travelers.

While we have special expertise in uncovering low-cost business travel options, we also have extensive experience arranging executive-level travel. We work with airlines, hotels, car services and others to make sure that your executives travel exactly like they want to travel. In fact, we work to surpass their expectations with our exceptional attention to detail, e.g. to make sure flights are upgraded, a hotel stocks a favorite type of bottled water, or a favorite driver is assigned.

Our travel planning services offer a one-stop source for finding and booking complete travel arrangements-from air travel to hotels and ground transportation-and then deliver tickets directly to your company. Your travelers can call us at 425.453.8200 , or by email at [email protected] , or use our Traveler Request Form (Phone service accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week). We research and make reservations on major and non-major carriers (such as Southwest Airlines, JetBlue and SunCountry, which many travel agencies refuse to book). And if a traveler wants to make online reservations, we offer an online reservation service you can use day or night that we then review for lowest fares and corporate travel policy compliance. In addition, we help you manage your travelers' frequent flier programs and assist travelers with international travel matters such as passports and visas. For executives traveling business and first-class, we also bring extensive experience in providing highly attentive travel arrangements that make sure no detail is missed. And when your travelers' travel plans change, we're available to help you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Topaz International, a world leader in airfare auditing, has announced a new international benchmarking study that showed that the airline booking system used by Executive Travel consistently finds the lowest available airfares worldwide. Topaz tracked the performance and itinerary pricing results of four of the most prominent low-fare shopping tools in the travel industry. Results revealed that our booking system not only finds lowest fares more often than other products, nearly 60 percent of the time overall, but also generates an average saving of $68.13 per ticket.

No travel agency in the new millennium can operate without a solid operational foundation and Executive Travel Consultants is no exception. Our operational system is robust and fully tested to ensure you the highest degree of customer satisfaction.

We've taken a very simple approach to technology at Executive Travel Consultants. We use technology extensively and intensely. But we don't let technology drive us. Rather, we drive technology by applying it where it makes sense. And using people where people make sense. Sounds simple, but unfortunately, that balanced perspective is missing at most travel agencies, and you end up paying the price in frustration and lost productivity.

For all the advances made in online reservation system technologies, report generators and the like, none are quite perfect. All suffer from weaknesses and limitations, so we apply our human oversight to fill in the gaps. As we apply technology, we never forget the value of human oversight in mastering the complexities of travel planning and management.

Think about it. Ever tried to change a reservation made via an online travel service or airline website? Ever tire of waiting on hold to speak to an actual travel agent who can help you make changes when a flight is cancelled?

We have experienced those exact frustrations, so we use state-of-the-art technology, but we use it to support our personalized attention to your specific travel requirements rather than as a substitute.

At Executive Travel Consultants, we make sure technology is ubiquitous. What matters is that you get low-cost travel arrangements the way you want them along with readily available (or regularly delivered) reports tracking your travel expenditures however you want those expenses tracked.

Specific technologies employed by Executive Travel Consultants include:

Touring the Top 10 Moscow Metro Stations

By Claudia Looi 2 Comments

Komsomolskaya metro station

Komsomolskaya metro station looks like a museum. It has vaulted ceilings and baroque decor.

Hidden underground, in the heart of Moscow, are historical and architectural treasures of Russia. These are Soviet-era creations – the metro stations of Moscow.

Our guide Maria introduced these elaborate metro stations as “the palaces for the people.” Built between 1937 and 1955, each station holds its own history and stories. Stalin had the idea of building beautiful underground spaces that the masses could enjoy. They would look like museums, art centers, concert halls, palaces and churches. Each would have a different theme. None would be alike.

The two-hour private tour was with a former Intourist tour guide named Maria. Maria lived in Moscow all her life and through the communist era of 60s to 90s. She has been a tour guide for more than 30 years. Being in her 60s, she moved rather quickly for her age. We traveled and crammed with Maria and other Muscovites on the metro to visit 10 different metro stations.

To Maria, every street, metro and building told a story. I couldn’t keep up with her stories. I don’t remember most of what she said because I was just thrilled being in Moscow.   Added to that, she spilled out so many Russian words and names, which to one who can’t read Cyrillic, sounded so foreign and could be easily forgotten.

The metro tour was the first part of our all day tour of Moscow with Maria. Here are the stations we visited:

1. Komsomolskaya Metro Station  is the most beautiful of them all. Painted yellow and decorated with chandeliers, gold leaves and semi precious stones, the station looks like a stately museum. And possibly decorated like a palace. I saw Komsomolskaya first, before the rest of the stations upon arrival in Moscow by train from St. Petersburg.

2. Revolution Square Metro Station (Ploshchad Revolyutsii) has marble arches and 72 bronze sculptures designed by Alexey Dushkin. The marble arches are flanked by the bronze sculptures. If you look closely you will see passersby touching the bronze dog's nose. Legend has it that good luck comes to those who touch the dog's nose.

3. Arbatskaya Metro Station served as a shelter during the Soviet-era. It is one of the largest and the deepest metro stations in Moscow.

4. Biblioteka Imeni Lenina Metro Station was built in 1935 and named after the Russian State Library. It is located near the library and has a big mosaic portrait of Lenin and yellow ceramic tiles on the track walls.

5. Kievskaya Metro Station was one of the first to be completed in Moscow. Named after the capital city of Ukraine by Kiev-born, Nikita Khruschev, Stalin's successor.

7. Kurskaya Metro Station was one of the first few to be built in Moscow in 1938. It has ceiling panels and artwork showing Soviet leadership, Soviet lifestyle and political power. It has a dome with patriotic slogans decorated with red stars representing the Soviet's World War II Hall of Fame. Kurskaya Metro Station is a must-visit station in Moscow.

The trains and stations of the Moscow Metro

2 Comments · Posted by Alex Smirnov in Cities , Travel , Video

The Moscow Metro is the third most intensive subway system in the world after Tokyo and Seoul subways. The first line was opened on May 15, 1935. Since 1955, the metro has the name of V.I. Lenin.

The system consists of 12 lines with a total length of 305.7 km. Forty four stations are recognized cultural heritage. The largest passenger traffic is in rush hours from 8:00 to 9:00 and from 18:00 to 19:00.

Cellular communication is available on most of the stations of the Moscow Metro. In March 2012, a free Wi-Fi appeared in the Circle Line train. The Moscow Metro is open to passengers from 5:20 to 01:00. The average interval between trains is 2.5 minutes.

The fare is paid by using contactless tickets and contactless smart cards, the passes to the stations are controlled by automatic turnstiles. Ticket offices and ticket vending machines can be found in station vestibules.
