What to Wear to Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, Broken Down by Era
Whether you duked it out with Ticketmaster for tickets or are just going as a very lucky plus-one, you need an outfit that matches the vibe.
If you’re anything like team Marie Claire, you’ve been waiting for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour from the minute that it was announced. And whether you duked it out with Ticketmaster for tickets or are just going as a very lucky plus-one, you need an outfit that matches the vibe. Or, should I say, matches the eras of Swift’s music.
As a fan who got to attend the show in Boston recently, I was amazed at the wide array of looks at my show. Fans were decked out in Reputation -era snake print, glitter-encrusted face paint inspired by Swift's Lovers album cover, and plenty of DIY’d T-shirts from her Speak Now days. The bottom line? The looks varied widely, proving that you can truly go in any direction when picking your outfit for the Eras tour.
I love getting dressed up for concerts, but I also want to make sure that I can wear my new pieces again and again. It was a question I asked myself over and over while shopping for my own Eras Tour ensemble: Is the look good for me for right now, or good for me forever? In the end, I opted for a bedazzled mesh dress that I could also wear again on a night out over jeans or a slip dress . For the show, I opted to style it over a bodysuit for added coverage.
If you’re heading to the show this summer, there are a few key things to keep in mind, no matter what you wear. The show is long—five hours from the beginning of the opening act to the end of Swift’s set!—so you’ll want to wear comfortable clothing. Plus, if you’re the kind of fan who spends the majority of the concert jumping and dancing like you’re alone in your bedroom, you’ll want to wear something that you don’t have to worry about adjusting. Comfortable footwear is a must, so make sure that your new shoes don’t require breaking in before you go. Finally, the temperature tends to drop at night—especially if you’re at one of Swift’s rainier shows—so packing waterproof layers in your stadium-approved clear bag is key. (I wish I had packed a sweater.)
Ahead, I rounded up a selection of pieces for you to wear to the Eras Tour, broken down by Era. I’ve tried to think of everything: the shoes I’ve selected are known for being comfortable from the first wear. The dresses are comfortable to both sit and move around in. The jackets add warmth when you need them. Plus, many of the pieces below fall in line with some of summer 2023's biggest fashion trends .
Taylor Swift's Debut Album Era
If you’re dying for a debut self-titled album Secret Song at your show, wear something that harkens back to Swift’s first-ever era. This time in her career was defined by pastel blue and green shades, her iconic curling-iron curls, and her country twang. Consider cowboy boots and sweet tulle skirts.
Taylor Swift's 'Fearless' Era
Prefer gold to silver? The Fearless era is for you. This album had it all: Fireworks! A sparkly gold guitar! A gold fringed dress! More was more. To make it work, incorporate gold into your look via a pair of trendy sneakers , a going-out top in the hue, or by wearing a pair of viral gold jeans.
Taylor Swift's 'Speak Now' Era
Speak Now was defined by one color and one color only: A rich purple. It's the color Swift is wearing on the cover of the album, and it's the shade that has stayed attached to the record ever since. Sweet midi dresses and shoes that come in the same shade are go-tos for this era.
Taylor Swift's 'Red' Era
Red makes for an easy outfit because it only requires that you wear one color—red. Swift also went slightly preppy while on tour for the album, opting for a classic Breton striped shirt and red high-waisted denim . No matter which outfit vibe you choose, don’t forget your heart-shaped sunglasses.
Taylor Swift's '1989' Era
1989 is one of the more unique albums in Swift’s discography regarding her looks. While she repped matching sets on tour for the album, she's opted for orange ensembles while on the current Eras Tour.
Taylor Swift's 'Reputation' Era
My personal favorite era as someone who loves to wear all-black, Reputation- inspired outfits are perfect for those who prefer a little drama. From the actual sheer mesh dress I wore to my own concert to a statement-making choker necklace priced at under $50, this era is all about going all-out.
Taylor Swift's 'Lover' Era
If you love playing with color, consider a Lover- era ensemble for your concert. The key colors for this era were bright Barbiecore pink and rich blue, but pastel shades like baby pink and lavender —a trending color for 2023—were also popular. Go all-out with a heart-shaped stencil around your eye, or heart-shaped earrings.
Taylor Swift's 'Folklore' Era
Folklore was a departure from the previous maximalist Lover era. The aesthetic for the album was a combination of woodland fairy and cottagecore. On-stage, this translates to flowing summer dresses in muted shades like olive green. IRL, pair lacy layers with chunky cardigans and sweet Mary Jane shoes.
Taylor Swift's 'Evermore' Era
Cozy-core fans, the Evermore era is for you. Taylor’s second pandemic album was full of woodland references but, unlike its predecessor, the vibe this time around was very much fall-inspired. Flannel dresses, comfy Birkenstock sandals, and other comfy pieces reign supreme. Shades to highlight include marigold yellow and burnt red.
Taylor Swift's 'Midnights' Era
Good thing silver everything is one of 2023’s biggest trends—Taylor is obsessed with the shade for her Midnights era. Her looks from this time in her career are about metallics , drama, and deep shades like navy blue and fushia. If you can’t stop listening to “Karma” or You’re On Your Own Kid,” This one is for you.

Getting dressed for a Taylor Swift concert or an Eras livestream watch party is basically a game of Tag Yourself, Taylor’s Albums edition. Are you an O.G. Speak Now fan who is a hopeless romantic at heart, or a diehard 1989 stan still low-key hoping Harry Styles has been secretly in love with Taylor this entire time? Maybe you’re thinking more along the lines of an all-black Reputation- style slay with snake accessories, or you could even pull out the purple New York University regalia and dress up as Graduation Taylor for the memes. It’s hard to choose just one era, and based on her numerous mid-concert outfit changes, Taylor thinks so, too.
It comes down to how you want to feel for the night — Speak Now royal, sparkly and totally Fearless, or whimsically Evermore . We’ve put together a complete guide of Taylor Swift concert outfit inspo based on her album aesthetics to help you nail down your ultimate Eras tour outfit.
Fearless (2008)
Some of Taylor's most well-known songs were released in her Fearless album , from "Love Story" to "You Belong With Me." Step into a time machine and travel all the way back to 2008, where you can rock out with young Taylor in matching fringe dresses and sparkly-heeled boots. A chunky heel is your best bet for dancing all night long sans foot pain.
YZHM Sequin Fringe Mini Dress
GUESS "Basic" Gold Fringe Linear Drop Earrings
Betsey Johnson Cady Rhinestone Boots
Speak now (2010).
It's your (and Taylor's) fairytale, we're all just living in it. Taylor has worn multiple incredible ballgowns on tour to sing "Enchanted," and we're considering it full permission to pull up to her concert rocking a dreamy, flowy dress. From fluffy tulle to beads, embroidery, and ruffles, the possibilities are endless.
ASOS DESIGN Curve Floral Embellished Ruffle Detail Mini Dress
Xijun Puffy Sleeve Tulle Lilac A-Line Dress
Windsor Kayla Tulle Short Party Dress
🎶 "Who's Taylor Swift, anyways? Ew!" 🎶 Recreate Taylor's cheeky "22" outfit with red heart-shaped sunnies, a black fedora, and a "not a lot going on at the moment" (understatement of the year, TBH) T-shirt. Don't forget the cherry red lipstick, which never goes out of ~style~.
Armear Heart Shaped Retro Sunglasses
We Are Never Getting Back Together Like Ever T-Shirt
ASTRQLE Classic Black Wool Blend Fedora
1989 (2014).
Shiny bling and neon metallics are necessary for ✨ Shaking It Off ✨ to multiple songs from Taylor's full-blown pop debut, 1989. You can recreate an outfit she wore on her 1989 tour with a rainbow bomber jacket and turquoise skater skirt, or go for hot pink sequins like Taylor wore on stage in Arizona.
Anna-Kaci Sequin Bomber Zip-Up Jacket
Amazon Pleated Skater Skirt
Lulus Hilaria Fuchsia Sequin Bodycon Mini Dress
And don't forget the most important part of your Eras Tour outfit — the accessories! Fans have decked themselves out in everything from bedazzled sunglasses to glitzy cowboy hats to friendship bracelets and sparkly, heart-shaped earrings.
JOJANEAS Bracelet Making Kit
4E's Novelty Novelty Pink Cowboy Hat with Feathers
Forever21 Faux Gem Rectangular Sunglasses
Reputation (2017).
The Reputation girlies are not 👏 messing 👏 around 👏 . Taylor changed into a one-legged black sequin bodysuit with red snakes to perform "Don't Blame Me," "...Ready For It," "Delicate," and "Look What You Made Me Do." Pay homage to her dark era with snake tights, black sequins, or a Reputation shirt , because you came to slay and you know it.
Floerns Sequin Mesh Long Sleeve Mini Dress
Leg Avenue Dark Alternative Animal Fishnet Tights
Freedomtees RepuTAYtion Unisex T-Shirt
Lover (2019).
The serotonin is real. Lover is filled with bubblegum pop tunes that Taylor has been performing while decked out in iridescent shades of blue, pink, and lavender. Butterfly crop tops or feathered sequins fit the bill, and don't forget to accessorize with a heart purse.
Mocure Sparkly Butterfly Sequin Crop Top
Steve Madden B Lover Pink Purse
Giovacker Sparkle Sequined Crop Top
Or, take a cue from Taylor who popped her glitzy suit jacket over her rainbow bodysuit to perform "The Man". If it's going to be chilly at your concert venue, recreating this outfit is the perfect excuse to wear a jacket. Her red-bottom Louboutins perfectly matched her signature red lippie, so don't forget the lipstick.
Pieces Premium Exclusive Oversized Glitter Blazer
Onlymaker Sequin Pointed Toe Boots
Clinique Pop Reds Lipstick
Folklore (2020).
The word "cardigan" was never the same again after the release of Folklore. If it looks like the weather is going to be chilly on the day of your Taylor Swift concert, a knit varsity cardigan is an authentic move. Otherwise, take a cue from Taylor's performance outfit and go for a flowy, ethereal dress in muted shades of purple or cream.
Lucky Brand Textured Varsity Cardigan
LYANER Off Shoulder Wrap Layer Ruffle Mini Dress
Selkie The Sugarfrill Puff Classic in Yellow
Alternatively, live out your woodland fairy dreams in a flowy green number with plenty of foliage detailing. Flower crowns, leaf earrings, and Grecian sandals will complete your look.
Pretty Little Thing Plus Olive Satin Frill Layered Midaxi Dress
LYANER Satin Silky Wrap Mini Dress
DDazzling Green Leaf Boho Crown
Evermore (2020).
Taylor changed into a mustard yellow corset dress to serenade the audience with "Champagne Problems" (played on a woodsy, moss-covered piano, no less) along with a handful of other songs from her second album of 2020. A velvet, corduroy, or suede jumper dress is the perfect E vermore vibe — or, braid your hair back into a single braid and pop on a plaid shacket to recreate the E vermore album cover.
LA Hearts Tan Plaid Shacket
Floerns Button Down Pinafore Corduroy Overall Dress
Urban Outfitters Douro Gauzey Midi Dress
Midnights (2022).
Meet Taylor at midnight by dressing like the darkest night sky speckled with stars and glitter. Whether it's a star-themed dress or a multicolor sequin jumpsuit, the Midnights aesthetic is blinged-out and glitzy — fringe is optional, but fully recommended.
ASOS Premium Galaxy Embellished Velvet Bandeau Mini Dress
Cresay Sequin Fitted Rainbox Blazer Bomber Jacket
Cider Sequin Cami Split Short Dress
Matoburr Corset Bustier Top, Navy Blue
Kolagri Mini Short Skirt
Soda Western Cowboy Stitched Pointe Toe Boots
Or, take things down the "Lavender Haze" route with a purple fur coat over a shimmery mini dress and navy boots. You'll be able to stay warm and cozy even if it starts to get chilly at ~midnight~.
GOOCHEER Glitter Sequin Loose Shirt Dress
HTHLVMD Faux Fur Coat
LUXMAX Sparkly Thigh High Heel Boots

100+ Taylor Swift Eras Tour Outfit Ideas + What to Wear to A Taylor Swift Concert!
Updated: Jan 17
It's been a long time coming but.... it's been a crazy few years for miss Taylor Swift. She's dropped hint after hint, easter egg after easter egg, song after song, music video after music video!! She's truly a great entertainer and artist, and genuinely one of my favorite musicians to fangirl over.
I got tickets to Taylor Swift's Era's tour, and am trying to decide what era I should go as. . I can't wait to see what Taylor Swift's concert outfits are for this tour!
What do I wear to a Taylor Swift concert? Especially to the Eras tour?
Attendees are planning to wear outfits inspired by their favorite Taylor Swift era. There are ten eras total: Taylor Swift (Self-Titled), Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, Reputation, Lover, Folklore, Evermore, and Midnights. Each era has its own vibe, color aesthetic, and specific pieces Taylor wore during those periods. For example, Reputation is an absolute classic, with snake print, black leather, and tons of sass. Or maybe the Red era? I mean, that one IS my favorite Taylor Swift album. Come as a sad autumn girl with a red scarf, black high-waisted shorts and oxfords— that's definitely a vibe.
But as I was thinking through this, I thought maybe I could make mood boards and help others find the perfect Taylor Swift outfits from amazon to wear to Taylor Swift's concert on her The Eras Tour! I assure you, while putting this list together, with each era I worked on I listened to the album ;) Guaranteed inspiration!
Because of each stadium's bag policy, concert-goers need to bring a clear see-through bag to the venue. Here are a few realyl cute ones I've found. The first is pretty simple, but you can find clear bags that are really stylized to fit your eras tour outfit!
I'm also seeing a lot of people at Taylor Swift's concerts wearing body glitter and hair gems! Here are some options online that are great for doing glitzy hair and makeup the day of the Eras tour concert. The hair gem style has been SUPER popular, and you'll find a lot of other gals at the tour that are rocking similar!
To start off, here are a few pieces that would be good for any of her eras. Concert attendees are wearing "Friendship Bracelets" (a nod to the song You're On Your Own Kid), and the era's charm bracelet as well, which are both available on Amazon!
Jump to Each Taylor Swift Era
If you click on each link, it'll jump to each era and has Taylor Swift eras tour outfit ideas for each. I'll even include items you can buy that fit into each outfit!

NEW UPDATE! Taylor Swift's Eras Tour stage outfits
Taylor Swift Debut Era
T-Swift's self-titled album is a classic, with songs like "Picture to Burn", "Stay Beautiful", and "Should've Said No". With so many Taylor Swift album era options, this one will surely stand out and be super identifiable.
Taylor Swift's debut album is a whimsical journey through the enchanting world of teenage dreams and heartaches. Bursting with charm and a sprinkle of country sweetness, the album encapsulates the essence of Taylor's early years as a rising star. The aesthetic is like a vintage photo album, filled with snapshots of innocent crushes, teardrop-stained diaries, and the magic of first loves. The vibe is undeniably cute, as Taylor's relatable lyrics and catchy melodies transport you to a world where love letters are written in glittery pens, and every emotion is felt with an extra touch of sparkle. It's a musical hug from the past that leaves you with a warm, fuzzy feeling and a desire to dance around your room like no one's watching.
How to dress in Taylor Swift (Self-Titled) era outfits
When you want to dress like the self-titled Taylor Swift album, you've got to transport yourself back to good ol' 2006! That means low rise flare jeans, floral dresses, and plenty of cowgirl boots. Taylor's look back then involved more soft, butterfly-like looks that harken back to her country roots.
The Taylor Swift Debut vibe: Teals, greens, butterfly, cowgirl, floral, low rise jeans, and flannels.
Where to find these Taylor Swift (Debut Album) outfits:
Moving onto Taylor Swift's sophomore album, Fearless...
Fearless Era (Plus Taylor's Version)
Fearless is when Taylor Swift really started to gain speed in the music industry, and the era evokes an true nostalgia for the early Tay years!
Taylor Swift's "Fearless" album, both the original and Taylor's version, exude a timeless charm that feels like a musical hug from a dear friend. The aesthetic is a blend of sunlit fields and starlit nights, capturing the essence of young love and fearless adventures. With a dash of country twang and a sprinkle of pop magic, the album's vibe is irresistibly cute, much like a handwritten love letter sealed with a kiss. Taylor's reimagined version adds an extra layer of nostalgia, like finding a cherished childhood toy in the attic. It's a journey back to a place where heartbreaks were mended with laughter, and every melody carried the promise of a new beginning. The vibe is like a cozy sweater, warm and comforting, inviting you to relive those moments and create new memories with the same wide-eyed wonder.
How to dress in Taylor Swift Fearless era outfits
She loves sparkly dresses. Always has, always will. But this was the first era to REALLY bring that to the forefront. Soft whimsical touches, earthy kind of feelings, with a little bit of edginess.
The Taylor Swift Fearless vibe: Golds, sparkly dresses, fairy-tale fluff, elastic headbands, cowgirl boots, and boho.
Where to find these outfits:
Next up is Taylor Swift's third album, Speak Now! You can get inspired by the original Speak Now era, or the new Taylor's Version.
Speak Now Era
A fairytale in a nutshell, Speak Now era is like a sparkly purple dream.
Taylor Swift's "Speak Now" album is a whimsical fairy tale spun with the threads of love, courage, and a sprinkle of daydream magic. The aesthetic is like a storybook come to life, filled with enchanted forests and castle walls where Taylor fearlessly takes center stage. The vibe is both daring and adorable, as if each song were a secret whispered in a moonlit garden. With a blend of country roots and pop melodies, the album dances through the pages of a romantic novel, where every chorus is a chapter and every bridge a thrilling plot twist. It's a musical adventure that invites you to join Taylor in a world where love conquers all, and each note is a charming invitation to step into a dreamscape where happily ever afters are set to a delightful melody.
How to dress in Taylor Swift Speak Now era outfits
I tapped into a few iconic Taylor Swift outfits from the Speak Now era, which welcomed in her love for oxfords, vintage pieces, and an overall romantic take on everything. Finding the perfect halter purple dress from Speak Now era is ESSENTIAL. I've added the one I found below!
The Taylor Swift Speak Now vibe: Purple EVERYTHING, the number 13, slouchy beanies, flannels, twee Oxford heels, whimsical dresses, and revenge. Lots of revenge.
Here are some more modern versions of the Speak Now era (now with Taylor's Version!!)
Next is my FAVORITE era, the RED era!
Red Era (Plus Taylor's Version)
Arguably the best Taylor Swift album, hands down. RED is my personal favorite from her discography, mostly because this is the era where I because a HUGE Taylor Swift fan, rather than just a casual listener. All of the raw pain and anguish in this album make this era (and the TV era!) probably what I'm going to choose for the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour!
Taylor Swift's RED era is a sartorial symphony of passion and bold statements. The clothing aesthetic is a captivating blend of vintage glamour and modern sophistication, reflecting the album's emotional rollercoaster. Taylor dons iconic red dresses that symbolize both heartbreak and empowerment, showcasing her fearless style evolution. Picture timeless silhouettes, chic high-waisted shorts, and classic red lips that become a signature touch. The vibe is a mix of retro vibes and contemporary chic, with Taylor effortlessly balancing elegance and edge. From the glitzy red-carpet gowns to the laid-back yet stylish streetwear, every outfit in the RED era tells a story of self-discovery and resilience. It's a fashion journey that captures the essence of love, loss, and the vibrant hues of a life lived unapologetically.
How to dress in Taylor Swift RED era outfits
This era probably has some of the most iconic fashion moments of Taylor Swift's career. The Taylor Swift red tour outfits were amazing. The "We Are Never Ever Ever Getting Back Together" and "22" looks just scream 2012! Now ten years later in 2022, this style is still just as amazing and showstoppping... and iconically RED . Try to find a good striped shirt and some tailored high waisted shorts, and add a pair of red Keds to complete the look!
The Taylor Swift RED vibe: The color red (bright, like the original, or deep, like Taylor's Version), spectator Oxford shoes, heart sunglasses, fedora hats, high wasted shorts, and KEDS.
The "Not a lot going on at the moment" shirt is a classic for sure. You can buy it below. Also, with Taylor's new tour, she has a shirt that says "A LOT going on at the moment" too, which is featured here where I have some outfit ideas that are inspired by her concert looks from this Eras era!
During the show, Taylor gives her fedora-type hat to someone special in the audience. You can match her by wearing a black hat from her RED era!
From the RED Taylor's Version album cover, don a trench coat and a burnt Sienna newsboy cap, and the autumn leaves start to fall like pieces into place for your Taylor Swift concert outfit.
I Bet You Think About Me - Taylor Swift concert outfit idea
Something from RED Taylor's Version that is an instant showstopper: the I Bet You Think About Me outfit!
Here's where you can grab it:
Onto many people's favorite -- 1989!! This is the most recent Taylor's Version to come out. "1899 (Taylor's Version)" is not just an album; it's a captivating invitation to step into a lyrical ballroom where each song is a dance through time, and Taylor is the enchanting guide, gracefully leading us through the echoes of a century past.
A HUGE era for Taylor, commercially and her tour! She has so many fun and glitzy looks from this 1989 era. I pulled some Taylor Swift tour costumes from amazon that will make people double-take.... wait, is that Taylor Swift?? No? Shake it off!
How to dress in Taylor Swift 1989 era outfits
Be sure to wear plenty of sequins, shiny fabrics, and two-piece outfits for a true 1989 era look from Taylor Swift! Add on the quintessential white rayon-type sunglasses to look like a true 1989 fan.
The Taylor Swift 1989 vibe: Sequins! Lots of blues and silver sparkles, crop tops, white rayon sunglasses, and sparkly fringe.
One of these outfits is a callback to Taylor's look at the 2016 Grammy Awards. I think it's such a unique outfit to wear to the Era's tour, because it's not exactly a "era" look, but something SO iconic from that era! Also, can you GET more 1989 than a pair of white rayon sunglasses? They were a staple piece in Taylor Swift's 1989 era.
A callback to a Swift inside joke, the yellow "No It's Becky" shirt is available on amazon!
Seagulls everywhere, on everything. With the new 1989 Taylor's Version coming out, the coastal pale blue vibe is going to be a good choice.
If you want to be a little silly, you could come literally dressed like a seagull:
Reputation Era
This era is the most similar to my own personal style, so when I attended the Rep tour, I was living my best life!! All her songs have a pop edge to them, so make sure to dress accordingly.
How to dress in Taylor Swift Reputation era outfits
Wear as much snake print, black, fishnet, and combat-wear you can find. The more you look like a hell-raiser, the better for Taylor Swift reputation outfits. I've added in a few cool amazon t-shirts in here as well from the era!
The Taylor Swift Reputation vibe: Snake print, black sequins, camouflage print, chains, combat boots, and slicked back hair.
Much like her album cover, you can find a newspaper Reputation dress below!
Lover was all bright pink and multicolored, and it was AMAZING. The fun songs (and some deep love songs) created an incredible album from Taylor Swift.
How to dress in Taylor Swift Lover era outfits
Pink, lots of pink. Actually, all pink. Just kidding! I put together some outfit ideas that are inspired by some of her performance looks and music video outfits from the Lover era.
The Taylor Swift Lover vibe: Lots of pink, multicolor, fringe, pearls, iridescence, hearts, and sweetness all around.
Grab a hot pink jacket and pearl sunglasses to look like Taylor from "You Need to Calm Down"! Choosing to wear a pastel sky print is such a Lover look, similar to her album cover!
Check out these gorgeous Lover-esque earrings and accessories:
Just like in the "ME!" music video, you can wear a heart shaped top like Taylor for the concert.
Makeup for your Lover eras tour outfit
If you're wanting to dress up as Taylor's Lover era, it's a sweet detail to do the heart shape makeup over her eye like she does on her album cover! In order to do that, you'll need two main items: liquid latex and skin-safe pink glitter. You can find them here:
I've used the liquid latex above before and it works really well. All you'll need to do is outline the heart around your eye with the liquid latex, wait for it to get tacky, and then apply the pink glitter!
Folklore Era
If you aren't the sparkly-dress Taylor Swift fan, and want to be a sad cottage-core girl, here is your chance! This album screams alone-in-the-woods-and-in-the-feels.
How to dress in Taylor Swift Folklore era outfits
Tap into the cottage-core look and opt for some comfy sweaters, cardigans, and ditsy floral prints. I've grabbed a few items that look similar to the outfits she wore on some of her photoshoots from this era.
The Taylor Swift folklore vibe: Knit sweaters, plaid jackets, chunky boots, mushrooms, trees and a general folksy vibe.
Evermore Era
Am I crazy to say that Evermore is one of my favorite TSwift albums? It's definitely the most forgotten one, but WOW does it have some bops, both sad and lovely.
How to dress in Taylor Swift Evermore era outfits
This era was so short-lived, but it gave us some beautiful looks! An easy go-to would be the brown/orange plaid jacket from Evermore. (I've linked on similar) Also, the Willow music video is a huge inspiration for these, and other Swifties will know exactly what you're going for!
The Taylor Swift evermore vibe: Deep plaids, ethereal jewelry, greens, leather boots, turtlenecks, and flown dresses.
From the "Willow" music video, you can choose a more whimsical and fairy-like look to fit in with the Evermore era! Below you can also find a dark green velvet cape like she wears during her Evermore set at the Eras Tour!
Midnights Era
Midnights only came out a few weeks ago while I'm writing this, so I'm still reeling from this album release! I know from the second I hear "Anti-Hero" that it would be an instant classic.
How to dress in Taylor Swift Midnights era outfits
When it comes to the looks from Midnights era, they span from glitzy blue midnight dresses and plenty of sparkles, mixed with vintage looks that evoke a sense of 70s retro. Combining these all together will be the ultimate Midnights tour outfit!
The Taylor Swift Midnights vibe: Honestly, Taylor's Midnights aesthetic is all over the place, but can be boiled down to: 70s vintage, starry night, retro, oranges, blues, lavender, clocks, and anything, and I mean anything that is bejeweled.
Inspired by her 70's glam looks in much of the material for the release of her album midnights, you can don some burnt orange and corduroy and fit in well! The top and fur jacket look similar to the starry dress Taylor wore out when she was promoting "Midnights". For a more casual "Midnights" look, you can wear this sheer celestial top as well. Check out some of these that also scream "Lavender Haze"!
Where're ya going? You going out tonight? ;)
You can find a corset similar to Taylor's from her "Bejeweled" music video!
Taylor Swift's Stage Outfits
If you want to come to the concert the MOST prepared, you can dress like the current Era: the Eras era! Pretty meta, right? Here are some of the outfits that Taylor's been wearing on her tour that you can recreate in your concert outfit:
Stage outfit 1— Midnights era Lavender Haze jacket
Taylor wears a pink/lavender sparkly dress with a fun faux-fur lavender coat. You can find a super sparkly dress and add a lavender faux fur coat, and look just like Taylor!
Stage outfit 2— Evermore era pink dress
Taylor's whimsical pink dress during her Evermore era is GORGEOUS. Play up your own ethereal vibe and wear a similar dress to the Eras tour!
Stage outfit 3— Reputation era jumpsuit
Taylor wears this awesome one-legged jumpsuit with red snakes all over it. You can buy a black sparkly jumpsuit and attach red snake appliqués to create a look similar to it.
Stage outfit 4— Sparkly RED era jacket
The RED era (my favorite!) has Taylor donning a long red sparkle trench coat. You can look similar to this in either this red velvet long trench I've found, or a men's sparkly suit jacket!
Stage outfit 5— "A LOT Going On At The Moment" shirt
She's reinvented her own RED era look with a shirt that instead of saying "Not a lot going on at the moment" it says "A LOT going on at the moment"! I've found a shirt that says exactly that new phrase on Amazon. Taylor also pairs it with a pair of sparkly black bottoms and a black hat.
Stage outfit 6— 1989 era green two piece
A very Taylor typical outfit, more sparkles! And this time we're working with fun and bright green. She has a sparkle fringed two piece set on stage.
I hope you find some awesome inspiration on what to wear to Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour! See ya there :)

This is an amazing resource! I’m still looking for Red inspo. Do you have any pant/shirt ideas? I’m not into dresses that much.
Thank you so much! If I find anything worth sharing, I’ll put the links down here.

What Should You Wear to the Taylor Swift Eras Tour Movie? We Have Some Ideas.
Whether you want to be comfy in merch or to dress up as one of Swift's many eras, here's a guide to moviegoing attire (Taylor's Version).
Every item on this page was chosen by a Town & Country editor. We may earn commission on some of the items you choose to buy.
"The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far and I’m overjoyed to tell you that it’ll be coming to the big screen soon," Swift wrote on Instagram when she announced the film . "Starting Oct 13th you’ll be able to experience the concert film in theaters... Eras attire, friendship bracelets, singing and dancing encouraged." Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is currently in theaters, and isn't going to be on streaming anytime soon .
What exactly does she mean by "Eras attire"? It means outfits inspired by her ten albums, or eras as she calls them: Taylor Swift , Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, Reputation, Lover, folklore, evermore, and Midnights . Throughout her career, Swift has used different aesthetics to delineate each era, and her fans have embraced them in dressing up for the tour.
In celebration of Swift, we pulled together 33 outfit ideas of what to wear to the movie theaters for the film (which has a runtime of 2 hours, 48 minutes). From casual to over-the-top, inspired by her tour looks and her street style, here's what to wear to Swift's Eras Tour movie:
Eras Tour Sweatshirt
The easiest outfit to wear to the Eras Tour movie? Eras Tour merch. There's plenty on Etsy, or in Swift's official store .
Fearless Bracelet
A key part of the Eras Tour was trading friendship bracelets, and we have a feeling movie audiences will also lean into the power of the bracelet.
Gabrielle Sequin Robe
When Swift announced "ME!" during the NFL Draft in 2019, she wore this Retrofete dress. "The fans are amazing. I cannot believe how dedicated they are, how thoughtful, I can't believe how much they care," Swift said during the interview. "It makes it more fun for me to create music knowing that they'll care about little Easter eggs or clues or hints."
Get in the Groove Champagne Sequin Fringe Bodycon Dress
If you're looking to channel Swift's Fearless era, you can't go wrong with a fringe mini dress. (It can also double as a Taylor Swift Halloween costume , as many of these outfits can!)
Taylor's Version Sweatshirt
Swift is in the process of releasing re-records of her first six albums, with 1989 (Taylor's Version) set to come out while the Eras Tour concert film is in theaters. Celebrate all things Taylor's Version with this adorable sweatshirt.
BCBGMAXAZRIA Ziv Chiffon Gown
During the evermore section of the Eras Tour, Swift often wore an orange-y rust gown—if you're looking for a movie outfit that can double as a fall wedding guest dress , this dress is perfect.
Swift's roots are in country music, and the fashionable way to celebrate that is obviously by wearing your very own pair of cowboy boots .
'13' Temporary Tattoo
13 is Swift's lucky number, and early in her career, before performing she would draw the number on her hand. Many fans attending the Eras Tour followed suit.
Hue Blazer - Lollipop
Swift's Lover era is all about rainbows and pink, and when she performs "The Man" during the Eras Tour, she dons a blazer dress. Combine the two with this pink blazer, which also works for any Barbie screenings you plan on attending.

Smart Dad Wool Mix Coat in Brushed Check
On the cover of evermore , Swift wears a Stella McCartney wool coat. While that coat is no longer for sale, there are plenty of look-a-likes, including this plaid Asos coat. Eras Tour movie outfit and fall wardrobe upgrade? Say less!
Sequin Mini Dress
Swift closes the Eras Tour with her most recent new album, Midnights , wearing a sparkling t-shirt dress.
"A Lot Going At The Moment" T-Shirt
When Swift performs the Red section of the show, she begins by wearing a graphic t-shirt. Wear your own to the Eras Tour film!
The Eras Tour Ghost Shirt
The Eras Tour movie is premiering right in the middle of spooky season, so why not combine the two with this cute ghost t-shirt?
adidas Python Track Pants
The Reputation era is all about snakes, and moviegoing is all about comfort...the right way to combine the two is obviously these Adidas snakeskin track pants.
ELLIATT Rosalind Dress
When Swift attended the Grammys in 2021 for folklore , she wore a floral Oscar de la Renta dress . While that is now sold out, similar dupes are available online.
Polo Ralph Lauren Corduroy Logo Embroidered Ball Cap
A deeper cut is referencing Swift's New York City street style recently, which has been extremely fun to watch. She's worn this corduroy Polo Ralph Lauren baseball cap a few times, making it a nice subtle Swiftie reference.

You can't go wrong with straightforward Swiftie merch.

10 Taylor Swift Eras Tour Outfit Ideas Inspired by Every Iconic Album
Design by Leana Macaya
In This Article
It’s almost time to meet Taylor Swift at midnight (and all the other times of day she’s ever sung about), as the long-awaited Eras Tour kicks off in Arizona on March 17 before heading across the U.S. all spring and summer—then, presumably, the world. The artist is making her live music comeback stronger than a ‘90s trend , as she's dropped a whopping four new albums since her 2018 Reputation tour, in addition to two “Taylor’s Version” rereleases. While the Ticketmaster fiasco resulted in a literal Senate hearing, fans are now getting excited to hear the new songs for the first time live—and confused about what to wear to such an all-encompassing concert.
If you survived “The Great War” of ticket sales but are stumped about your Eras ensemble or itching to give that Capital One card another workout, you need to calm down and build an outfit around your favorite Taylor Swift album. Whether pastel music festival vibes are your Lover , an invisible string ties you to Folklore , or you just want to stay in Midnights ' lavender haze, we’ll help you mastermind the perfect look. See Taylor Swift Eras Tour outfits for every album ahead, so you can show fellow Swifties you’re still bejeweled when you walk into the concert.
Taylor Swift/Debut Album
If you’ve been a Swiftie since the beginning or want to show your soft spot for her country era, grab a pen and an old napkin and take note of the artist’s go-to teen staples: understated midi dresses, classic cowboy boots , and a neutral, bohemian color palette. Let your hair run wild and free, and you have the perfect recipe for singing along to “Picture to Burn.”

Brother Vellies
Swift’s sophomore album, Fearless , was a "Love Story" full of the hopes and fears we all feel when coming of age. It won the 2010 Grammy for Album of the Year and recently got another moment in the spotlight as the inaugural Taylor’s Version rerelease (raise your hand if you're hoping to hear “Mr. Perfectly Fine” live). If you belong with the era's sweet late-aughts style, go for a sequined mini dress, a rose necklace, and simple leather sandals.
Reformation
Don't Let Disco
There's a lot of buzz around Speak Now right now as many fans are convinced that Swift has it slated for the next rerelease, citing everything from the "Bejeweled" music video to recent awards show looks. If you're excited for the world to finally realize that "Dear John" walked so "All Too Well" could run so "All Too Well (10 Minute Version) [Taylor's Version] [From the Vault]" could fly, embody the album's complex fairytale energy with a Bordeaux-colored princess mini dress, a delicate tie blouse, and whimsical crystal earrings.

The Red era contained multitudes: Think Harry Styles, Karlie Kloss and the squad, and endless country-pop crossover hits that highlighted Swift's ability to transcend genres. In its Taylor's Version renaissance, vault tracks like the "All Too Well" 10-minute version and the "Nothing New" collaboration with Phoebe Bridgers dominated, yet the album's signature color scheme and vintage-meets-modern vibes have remained as relevant as ever. Pair a pop of red—we love the idea of some statement pants—with a white T-shirt , Ray-Bans, and your favorite red lipstick for a moment that will have you dancing like you're 22.
Good American

1989 was a new beginning for Taylor Swift in multiple ways: It was her first pop album, she had an iconic new bob hairstyle , and she'd just moved to New York City. As she marked her rebirth with songs like "Wildest Dreams" and "Style," the star rocked an energized, instantly iconic wardrobe of crop tops, matching sets, and statement accessories. If you're in a style rut, shake it off with a crop-top-and-skirt combo plus some colorful heels, all of which can work for countless going-out looks long after your Eras Tour concert has come and gone.
Abercrombie & Fitch
Kendall Miles
When rumors about her hit a boiling point, Swift didn't back down. Instead, she released Reputation , an album that simultaneously leaned into her so-called "snake" side and shared the sweet vulnerability of falling in love. If you're in your Rep Era, you can't go wrong with leather on leather, especially if you top it off with some serpentine jewelry.
Chelsea Paris
The Lover era, which featured bubblegum bops like "Cruel Summer" and "It's Nice to Have a Friend" (the latter was recently part of the M3GAN trailer), was a time for pastel music festival vibes and euphoric romanticism. If you spent 2020 preparing for the Lover Fest that never happened, now is finally your chance to shine: Pair a candy-colored crop top and shorts for a danceable yet fun look, then finish it off with a fun hair look like temporary streaks or rainbow tinsel.
When Swift surprise-dropped Folklore during the 2020 lockdown, it marked the start of a stripped-back indie era that attracted a whole new fanbase in the process. If dark academia has captured your heart or you stream "Cardigan" and "Betty" on repeat, emphasize how smart and mysterious you are by bringing a book to the concert (spoiler alert: It's actually a purse). Paired with a ruffled, high neck blouse and patchwork shorts, you have a dreamy Taylor Swift Eras Tour outfit that pays tribute to storytelling and simpler times.

Well Read Company
Evermore is Folklore 's sister record, wandering deeper into Swift's storytelling interest to explore themes of pain, healing, and revenge. If you fell in love with this under-appreciated era, channel the cozy yet cathartic vibes with a flannel dress, leather sneakers, and earrings that will make you feel like part of the "No Body, No Crime" universe.
Want Les Essentiels
Pamela Love
If Midnights are your favorite time these days, we totally relate. Swift's latest album explores the range of things we think about when much of the world is asleep—from the introspection of "Anti-Hero" to the major confidence rush of "Karma"—and the cosmic-meets-'70s aesthetic is exactly what we needed. Meet Taylor at midnight in a lounge suit paired with bejeweled celestial earrings and platform sandals that help you stay in that lavender haze.

Taylor Swift and the Sparkling Trap of Constant Reinvention
Why do our female pop stars have to keep changing their clothes?
- Share full article
By Vanessa Friedman
Oscar de la Renta. Versace. Alberta Ferretti. Roberto Cavalli. Elie Saab. Christian Louboutin. Zuhair Murad. Ashish. The list of the designers who have made looks for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour , which began just over a month ago in Arizona and ends in California in August before heading overseas, is like a mini-tour of fashion weeks, replete with sparkles, chiffon and a message tee.
The resulting dress-up extravaganza has been greeted, not surprisingly, with heart-thumping enthusiasm. So many clothes! So much glitter! So fun! There are pages of stories online breathlessly documenting “Every Outfit Taylor Swift Has Worn on Her Eras World Tour” (as Elle Australia put it). And new styles keep emerging, enabling new coverage. As if sheer wardrobe abundance is an achievement unto itself.
It’s possible it is. The logistics alone are daunting: How do you change that much, and that fast, while in the middle of a performance?
Certainly it has raised the bar for the artists who are touring next, as we enter the Summer of the Diva: Madonna , who is embarking on a retrospective tour (just imagine the looks that one could involve), and Beyoncé, who set the bar sky-high in August when she dropped a teaser of sorts via the “I’m That Girl” trailer, which involved at least seven looks compressed into a few minutes, from cyborg goddess to cowboy dominatrix to killer Audrey Hepburn.
But it’s also possible to see in all these Swiftian clothes, all the wardrobe switcheroos, something else. It’s possible that they are, actually, not just a tour down memory lane but a more pointed piece of meta-commentary on the expectation that female pop stars unveil new versions of themselves for our viewing pleasure, one-upping their old image with new wardrobes ad infinitum. And a message that Ms. Swift is, perhaps, calling time on the whole thing.
The promise of reinvention is a core American value: the belief that everyone has the right to a fresh start, that you are limited only by your imagination and abilities. It’s intrinsically linked to the promise of fashion, which likewise dangles the lure of a new you; of allowing you to try on different selves until you settle into one that feels right.
Yet it is also its own kind of prison, as Ms. Swift, who has made a habit of embedding meaning into her wardrobe choices, said in her 2020 documentary, “ Miss Americana .”
“The female artists that I know of have reinvented themselves 20 times more than the male artists,” she says in a voice-over toward the end of the film, as various versions of her public personas flash by: teenage Taylor, with her gold ringlets, sparkly blue eye shadow and princess dresses; “1989” Taylor, with her ironed bob and glittery bodysuits; “Reputation” angry Taylor, with snakes crawling up her limbs.
This is necessary, Ms. Swift continues, because otherwise “you’re out of a job.”
At the time she was talking about her newfound political voice as well as her new album, “Lover” (now three albums and at least two Taylors ago: the earth nymph Taylor of “Folklore” and “Evermore,” and the dreamer Taylor of “Midnights”). But in many ways, what she meant is laid bare (so to speak) in her Eras Tour.
Each musical era revisited in the show had — and has — its own look, all 10 or so of them. To watch her go through them in succession is to see not just fabulous clothes worn with purpose, but also the hamster wheel of constant reinvention that has been the model for contemporary female pop stars since Madonna set the tone in the 1980s.
It’s particularly stark in comparison with another musical act now touring to similar response and acclaim: Bruce Springsteen. Mr. Springsteen is 73, and his style hasn’t changed much in 50 years. He’s still in beat-up jeans and a denim shirt, bracelets around his wrist, boots on his feet.
To be fair, there are male rock stars who have made a game out of reinvention: most notably David Bowie but also, to a certain extent, Harry Styles (though he generally dons one statement outfit per night). And there are women — Lucinda Williams, Patti Smith — who bucked the trend.
But it is also true, said Kathy Iandoli, an adjunct professor at the New York University Steinhardt School and the author of “God Save the Queens: The Essential History of Women in Hip-Hop,” that the pressure to dress up and change up falls exponentially on women. “1,000 percent,” Ms. Iandoli said. “There’s a level of costuming that comes with being a female pop star, a way for labels to market creativity. And if you are known as an evolutionary artist you are always held to the standard of ‘what’s the next version of you?’”
Ms. Swift has turned that pressure to her own ends as cannily as anyone. Her makeovers, which coincide with her sonic evolutions, are not the same as the makeover imposed on the main character in the Lady Gaga version of “A Star Is Born,” in which studio bigwigs force their latest discovery into Creamsicle hair, new outfits and new dance moves — a ginned-up version of herself she rejects after her husband’s death.
By contrast, Ms. Swift (with her stylist Joseph Cassell Falconer) has been her own wardrobe mistress, and her fans, many of whom show up dressed as their favorite Taylor, can relate.
But even Gaga, a master of the fashion-music makeover, seemingly rebelled against the imperative at this year’s Oscars when, rather than change into yet another showstopping gown for her performance, she subverted all expectations by donning ripped jeans and a black T-shirt and scrubbing her face bare, as if to say to the watching world: enough.
Fernando Garcia, a creative director of Oscar de la Renta, which made a lavender faux-fur coat with matching crystal-embroidered T-shirt dress and a midnight-blue, crystal-embroidered jumpsuit for the current tour, said that working with Ms. Swift on Eras felt “very much like a full circle moment.” If so, perhaps it’s also a sign that another era is coming to an end.
At one point in the Eras show, when Ms. Swift is singing “Look What You Made Me Do,” all of the old Taylors are embodied by different backup dancers in different outfits in different little glass boxes — all those mini-mes of the past, trapped in their own limited spaces, in their old wardrobes, only to finally break free .
As fashion metaphors go, it’s hard to miss.
An earlier version of a picture caption with this article misidentified the location of the opening night of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. It was in Glendale, Ariz., not Arlington, Texas.

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour: A Swiftie-Approved Style Guide to Nail Your Concert Look
By P. Claire Dodson
All products are independently selected by our editors. If you buy something, we may earn an affiliate commission.
Taylor Swift's Eras Tour is in full swing, and fans are having the time of their lives recreating fashion moods past and present as she embarks on her new world tour era.
Whether you're a folkmore girlie or a forever Speak Now advocate, there's a Taylor style moment for everyone. In Glendale, Arizona, fans flooded Swift City by the tens of thousands, and the looks were sublime. Hamburgers and fries à la "You Need to Calm Down"? Check. An NYU graduation costume? Check. Cowboy boots and sparkly dresses aplenty? Check.
There are still plenty of Eras Tour stops to go until August and whether you already have your tickets or have a masterminded plan to acquire them, here's all the style inspiration and advice you need for your tour outfits, straight from Swifties themselves.
Taylor's debut might not be represented much during the Eras Tour, but you can still be inspired by Taylor Swift's cowboy boot-wearing origins. For my opening night look, I recreated Taylor's first-ever red carpet outfit from the Academy of Country Music Awards: long curly hair, a handkerchief dress (mine is from Amazon ), and cowboy boots (snagged mine from Zappos, the brand Laredo .)
Chigant Floral Loose Maxi Dress
Laredo Maddie Cowboy Boots
If handkerchief dresses aren't your thing, there's plenty of other inspiration to be found in Taylor's early years. She wore lots of white and cream colors, knee-length dresses, peasant skirts , and dramatic feminine silhouettes — and of course, some sparkles . For a more casual vibe, recreate some looks from the “Tim McGraw” music video: loose low-rise jeans, lacy tank tops, and mid-2000s style vibes galore.
Fearless Era
The Fearless style era is usually remembered in one word: glitter. At Taylor's first stop in Glendale, the Fearless girls were out in full force in their sparkly, eye-catching silver and gold dresses, many in the fringe flapper style Taylor loved in the late 2000s.
Sleeveless Fringe Mini Dress
Plus Size Sequin Halter Neck Mini Dress
There were also a fair amount of DIY Junior Jewels t-shirts from the “You Belong With Me” music video. You can customize the names — which on Taylor's shirts represent her IRL friends — with the friends who are joining you for the Eras Tour. Bonus points if you reuse a white tee you already own.
The other subset of the Fearless era? Romantic, flowing gowns reminiscent of the “Love Story” music video and similar looks from the timing. Taylor loves a Shakespearean homage, and if you have any Renaissance fair-esque dresses or old theatre costumes in your closet, this is the time to bring those out.

Speak Now Era
Of the many memorable Speak Now -inspired outfits in Swift City, one reigned supreme: this purple mid-length halter dress with sweetheart neckline and updo from the Speak Now tour reigned supreme — just don't forget the blue “13” drawn on her right hand.
“I bought this in May of last year from Mislish , because I love Speak Now more than anything in this lifetime,” 25-year-old Shan says. (Her favorite Taylor song of all time is “Mine.") Shan attended the show with friends she met on Twitter through a Black Swifties group in 2018. “There's about eight of us tonight," she says, including her friend Day, who is decked out in pure 1989 vibes.

Don't limit yourself to tour or performance looks, however; Speak Now is one of the first eras where we get more Taylor street style, since her star was majorly on the rise. She gravitated toward more bohemian ‘fits in this era, as well as Victorian detailing. Oh, and we can’t forget the beanies.
The Red era is a great era to choose for a tour costume, as you can go either old or new Taylor and easily find comfortable outfits.
“My outfit is definitely inspired by the ‘All Too Well 10-Minute Version’ music video, I'm wearing Sadie Sink's outfit,” says Van, who attended the show with evermore fan Kathy (see below for Kathy's “Willow”-inspired costume.) Van is dressed in pure comfort food — previously owned jeans, white sneakers, a brown argyle sweater, and the iconic red scarf — an ideal look for standing for nearly three-plus hours straight. “The red scarf is from my brother's wardrobe.”

Spotted elsewhere in Swift City? Endless “Not a Lot Going on at the Moment” t-shirts, which proved prophetic for Taylor's “22” performance outfit — another easy DIY moment.
Her street style from this era is also fairly simple to replicate: go preppy or go home. Think tailored separates, lace-striped Parisian sweaters, fitted blouses, cardigans, sundresses, and Oxfords. Oh, and don't forget your red lip.
Day (pictured above in the Speak Now Era) pulled her 1989 -inspired look straight from the 1989 World Tour stage: black crop top, purple skirt, jacket, and white sunglasses. (And a red lipstick, since by 1989 it was a Taylor signature piece.) She wasn't the only fan to pull from Taylor's pop music takeover era at the Glendale show — I saw numerous recreations of Taylor's bob and separates Grammy look, as well as her white crop top and shorts look from the tour.

1989 signified a more daring style shift for Taylor, so don't be afraid to do the same with your looks. Lean into all the crop tops you can find, in bold colorways, shimmering neons, and floral patterns. From a street style perspective, get inspired by cats, miniskirts, stockings and Oxfords, polka dots, and more.
Reputation Era
This era is for your most dramatic friend: let that brewing darkness out, baby. This one's for the people who only wear black, who consider fishnet tights a staple item, and who would willingly carry around a large stuffed animal snake at a festival.
People like… 24-year-old Alli, who lives in Salt Lake City. “I love reputation. I feel like when reputation came out, it was Taylor's angsty era, but also in my real life, I was in an angsty era," she says, a yellow stuffed animal snake around her neck. "Our worlds were colliding in a way that felt so personal to me. Reputation has made such a mark on my life.” Her black jumpsuit is from Amazon, with white paint and bedazzled gems DIY'd with her own name.

You can also go for a more toned-down look, as 19-year-old best friends Shanti and Finley did. They both wore skinny black jeans and matching newspaper print shirts — an allusion to the rumor mill that plagued Taylor before reputation dropped — and thrifted mesh and black leather accents. Top it off with a smokey eye, and you're set.

The Lover Era is all about pastels, happiness, hair dye, glittery hearts, and everything good in the world. Think daylight, think tie-dye sweaters, think falling in love. This is Taylor at some of her most adventurous and playful — dress accordingly.
For example, New Jersey natives Katherine, 28, and Anna, 27, dressed as Taylor and Katy Perry's hamburger and fries from the “We went to the mall in search of ‘Mirrorball’ or Lover -esque things, and we're like, you know what, we want to go big or go home," Anna says. "And we had Lover Fest tickets, and we were really heartbroken. What is something nobody else will do to make us really stand out? ” Katherine adds, “We did a quick search of her music video, and we were like, ‘what if we just did it?'" Big points for originality.

Phoenix, Arizona, 20-something friends Kaylee and Chloe also had Lover Fest tickets and decided to mourn their loss by wearing complementary “ME!” pastel power suits from Nasty Gal. “We've been planning it for a long time,” they say. “We wanted to embody the Lover era because we didn't get to fully enjoy it.”
Oversized Twill Single Breasted Blazer
Taylor in her Lover era is Taylor in love — and sometimes, when we're in love, we make interesting fashion choices. The clothes on our bodies must express the love in our hearts! For Taylor, that means lots of ruffles and floral motifs. Taylor in love asks, “Why shouldn't I wear a kaleidoscopic Versace blazer and no pants? Why shouldn't I wear a rainbow bejeweled corset?" Ankle boots, hot pants, sheer shirts, shiny things, that's the vibe here.
Folklore and Evermore Eras
Folklore and evermore both feature woodsy, flowing, cottagecore Taylor outfits — perfect for a concert or festival setting.
Siblings Pim, 23, and Poon, 21, didn't coordinate their Eras Tour look intentionally — but clearly, they share a brain. The pair wore complementary cream accented looks, looking like the chicest folklore reference. “I wanted to go for a ‘Cardigan’ music video vibe,” says Pim, who lives in New York City. She wore a sweater over a thrifted slip dress, with matching hair accessories and platform docs. Poon, who wore a creamy jacket and trousers with sneakers, laughs, “I was just going for a monochromatic moment, a little folklore -esque.” Muted colors and grays are perfect to look like you live inside the folklore filter.
For a more literal interpretation of evermore , copy Kathy's take on the “Willow” music video — all spooky witch vibes.

Also seen: long, flowing cotton dresses, newsboy caps inspired by her Long Pond sessions, nap dresses, and official T.S. cardigans. And if you're really feeling low-key, just pick up a plaid button - down in an evermore color scheme. For a red carpet-inspired look, DIY or find pretty close replicas of Taylor's 2021 Grammys Oscar de la Renta floral minidress.

Midnights Era
Ah, the Midnights era, a fashion goldmine especially given the resurgence in '70s trends more broadly. You could likely build a Midnights album outfit from items you have around the house; simply grab some flared corduroys and a sweater visit.
Friends Dylan, 23, and Luther, 23, decided to go as “Anti-Hero” Taylors. “Dylan's favorite song on Midnights is ‘Anti-Hero,’ and we wanted to do a duo outfit,” Luther says, wearing shorts and boots from Etsy. “It's a good Taylor/bad Taylor opposites vibe.”
If you're still hell-bent on sparkles, the Midnights era is full of them — just pull a Julien Calloway and pick up the Oscar de la Renta cutout dress Taylor wore to the VMAs. But there's also a big fur coat motif, and I saw several outfits referencing her VMAs afterparty look: a blue starry Moschino minidress with a white coat. Key colors: dark blue, white, silver, and lavender. This era is all about luxe fabrics and rich color schemes. The mood is wealth and not giving a f*ck.

Be in Your Eras Era
If you're still stumped, try mixing and matching various eras in the ultimate chaotic homage to Taylor's style. Many Eras Tour attendees wore gold bodysuits layered with white button-downs in reference to Taylor's Lover-era AMAs performance, which also featured her album names in stark black font.
Or, you can DIY your jeans with paint and markers in tribute to all of Taylor's album eras since sometimes it's too hard to pick just one.
These two friends — both named Marissa — traveled from North Carolina to Glendale for the show, and Marissa's (left) grandmother helped her make a dress that compiles several of all the Taylor eras and even uses Taylor's 1989 polaroids as a band around her waist. “There's a base dress underneath from Girl Tribe in North Carolina,” she says, “and then my grandmother created the top layer by layer.”
Whichever era you choose, keep in mind your comfort level — take it from someone who stood in her sock feet for two and a half hours, cowboy boots tucked under her seat.

Taylor Swift is officially in her “Eras” era. On March 17 and 18, the singer kicked off her Eras tour in Glendale, Arizona, which temporarily renamed itself Swift City, ERAzona, in honor of the start of the tour.
It might only be the first leg of her Eras Tour , but Swift is already delivering when it comes to fashion. During her Glendale set, the singer sported looks from Oscar de la Renta, Alberta Ferretti and Versace, among many other notable designers. While her fans are attending the tour for the music, Swift is poised to give a mini-fashion show at each leg. WWD has rounded up some of the singer’s looks so far.

Swift unveiled another sequin Versace number during the Las Vegas leg of the Eras Tour. The silver sequin blazer dress was coordinated with silver sequin Louboutin boots that hit below the knee.
Swift donned another version of her custom bodysuit from Versace for her Arlington, Texas performance. This bodysuit came with a different color scheme, featuring sequins in bronze, gold and aqua.
Nicole Felicia Couture
Swift looked like a Disney princess come to life in this Nicole Felicia custom ballgown. The costume alluded to a previous gown Swift wore on the “Speak Now Tour” that was designed by Valentino. Swift also wore this designer in her “I Bet You Think About Me” music video.
Oscar de la Renta
For the finale act of weekend one of the Eras Tour, Swift wore two looks from Oscar de la Renta. The first was a black sequin bodysuit with fringe trim paired with sparkling black Louboutin boots, and the second was a midnight bodysuit, crystal T-shirt and lavender faux fur coat, both inspired by her “Midnights” album.
For her MetLife Stadium leg of the tour, Swift brought out Ice Spice to perform the remix of her song “Karma.” Swift wore a custom midnight blue sequin bodysuit from Oscar de la Renta.
Roberto Cavalli
Another standout look that set the internet abuzz was an asymmetrical sequin bodysuit with a beaded pattern of snakes on it referencing what some fans called her “snake era.”
In a classic Taylor Swift look, the singer wore a sparkling fringe dress with sparkling silver boots. She wore a similar gold fringe dress from Roberto Cavalli for the opening of her Speak Now Tour.
A stylie that was a testament to the craftsmanship of the Roberto Cavalli brand was a dégradé look created using thousands of hand-applied Swarovski crystals. The outfit was paired with knee-high sequin Christian Louboutin boots.
Alberta Ferretti
Swift wore two custom Alberta Ferretti gowns for her Glendale dates, both featuring Grecian and cottagecore inspiration. Both gowns were made from chiffon and featured airy fluid silhouettes.
Channeling her “Folklore” era, Alberta Ferretti created this dress for Taylor Swift channeling a wood nymph fairy. This green dress with its leaf design detail is a custom look from Alberta Ferretti’s spring 2023 collection worn for the Tampa leg of the Eras Tour.
Zuhair Murad
For another bohemian cottagecore look, Swift wore an orange ruffled, tie-front dress. The one-of-a-kind dress was created by Etro’s creative director Marco de Vincenzo.
Swift poked fun at herself in this custom T-shirt from Ashish Studio. Underneath the T-shirt, she wore a sequin bodysuit that looked like a regular pair of shorts.
On the East Rutherford leg of her tour, Ashish draped Swift in this custom red sequin duster with a trench-style silhouette. The duster contrasted with her sparkling black guitar.
Swift was the bell of her own ball for the night one of the Tampa Swift leg of her tour wearing a dark beige silk tulle ballgown featuring a silver crystal embroidered bodice with long sleeves, scoop neckline, and a dramatic, cascading skirt fully embroidered with gardenia-colored organza petals from Elie Saab’s fall 2022 couture collection.
Jessica Jones
Swift unveiled her red tiered pleated dress custom designed by Jessica Jones during the Tampa performance of the Eras Tour. She joined fellow musician Aaron Dessner on stage as they did a guitar duet.

8 Insane Eras Tour Outfits Ranked
The evolution of eras tour outfits: a spectacular fashion journey.
If you’ve ever gotten lost in the thumping embrace of a live concert, you know it’s not just about the sounds tickling your eardrums – it’s a full-on sensory soirée where fashion takes the VIP stage. Eras tour outfits have historically been wilder than a midnight ride with Alice through Wonderland. They’re stitched whispers of an artist’s identity, bellows of cultural zeitgeists, and riotous spectacles that sear into memory. Let’s rollercoaster through this fashion escapade, where each thread has a lyric and every sequin is a rhyme, cascading us through tidal waves of cultural tsunamis. These garments are not just clothes; they’re alive, crackling with the intensity of a thousand flashbulbs, reverberating the hearts and souls of millions.

No. 8 – The Minimalist Statement: Going Back to Basics
Some say simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance. Buckling under the weight of feathers and glitter, one era spun the wheel back to the start: the good ol’ minimalist days. The tour was stripped bare, the spotlight shone on nothing but the raw pulse of music – and the turtleneck staples that became a silhouette of subversion. Chopin could’ve played in the background as these modern-day maestros, draped in uncomplicated threads, whispered a daring “less is more”. The crown jewel here? The designer who declared an armistice on extravagance, leaving fans spell-bindingly fixated on the purity of sound and soul rather than spectacle. It’s as if they found magic in the mundane, a bold move that captivated purists and fashion connoisseurs alike.
No. 7 – The Retro Revival: When Past Meets Present
Cut to Swinging Sixties redux – flair pants, suede, and psychedelic twirls orchestrated a comeback tour buzzing with frenzied jubilation. Retro’s darling – the vinyl record of eras tour outfits – looped the old in with the new. Artists nipped and tucked nostalgia, injecting it with a spring-heeled step of the 21st century. Designers summoned spirits from every Haute Harry and Modish Mary, resurrecting bygone trends with devil-may-care finesse. They weaved this time-travel tapestry with stitch-perfect precision, saucily tipping their caps to the great fashion timekeepers of the past, as the crowd roared in vintage-drenched delight.

No. 6 – The Gender Bending Ensemble: Redefining norms
Now hold onto your hats, ’cause here comes the gender-bending brigade, tiptoeing over pigeonholes and rigging the rule book. An artist, cloaked in androgynous allure, wrenched norms and sutured a tour de force garb that was both knight and damsel. Plunging into the fabric bin marked ‘unisex’, they yanked out tyson Ritter ’s rebellious threads. It was a collection that snickered at the ‘pink for her, blue for him’ banalities, swirling with the audacious spirit of Marlene Dietrich in a top hat. The public, hungry for change, lapped it up like warm milk, while head-scratchers and naysayers nibbled their nails in the corner, agog at the bravado.
No. 5 – The Tech-Infused Threads: Where Fashion Meets Innovation
Buzzes, beeps, and blips – the techno-train chugged onto the scene, decked out in apparel that practically hummed with futurism. Eager beavers from last year’s cyberpunk 2077 Dlc launch became gobsmacked spectators as a color-shifting, digitally dynamic display of fashion engineering strutted across the stage. Creative polymaths laced hoodies and jackets with LED love letters and smart fabric sensors that pulsed to the beat of the bass. Fans, transcended into a digital utopia, became electric conductors in a symphony marinated in tech-marvelry. We bowed to the visionaries, batteries included.
MEICOLY Clear Body Glitter Gel for Hair, Face and Body Mermaid and Music Festival Accessory ml
No. 4 – The Political Statement: Fashion with a Message
Some tour outfits roar louder than a lion on megaphone. They brandish signs, slam fists, echoing the pulse of marching feet on rain-soaked streets. They grab the mic and toss it into the crowd, weaving the fabric of protest with searing truth. From calling out russia news ukraine with a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it motif to blazing slogans that ignite conversations, these outfits became a designer’s battle-cry. They interlocked arms with those clad in high hopes rather than haute couture, embedding ideals into the seams of jackets and ripped jeans . The cheers? They were thunderous, proving once more that change can be tailored.
No. 3 – The Cultural Tapestry: Celebrating Diversity Through Fashion
Embark on a kaleidoscopic whirlwind where cultural cross-stitching is not the exception but the norm. Artists danced out donning a global patchwork quilt, a ‘United Nations’ of attire that thrust diversity into the limelight. This sartorial globe-trotter stitched stories from every corner – an Ainu-patterned vest, a masquerade of African textiles, a flamenco ruffle that danced until dawn. Behind them stood solid, the local artisanal heroes and virtuosos, vanguards of tradition. As fans spun around their globe-trotter hemispheres, cultures clasped hands, celebrating kinship in a cavalcade of thread and color.
No. 2 – The High-Fashion Fusion: When Concerts Become Couture
Here’s where the boundary between stage and runway doesn’t blur – it vanishes. The Concert-Couture coalition cannonballed into waters where taylor swift Outfits brushed shoulders with Parisian high-fashion masterpieces. Soirees of silk, armor of avant-garde, all glam and gilded, designers conjured eras tour outfits to rival the ornate tales of Scheherazade. Vogue venerated, and the haute hoopla monopolized social media feeds – everyone seemed to be threading through the fashion labyrinth, entranced by the Minotaur of melody-meets-mode.
No. 1 – The Ultimate Showstopper: A Legendary Tour Outfit Redefined
And then came the constance zimmer of fashion moments, an epochal ensemble that ushered an exodus into the promised land of wardrobe wizardry. The ensemble wrapped the artist in iconography so potent, it could have moved statues to tears and instigated sartorial rebellions. Triumphantly, it stood as a monument, not just in history, but in every beating heart of the audience. Data be damned; you felt its ubiquity – in tweets echoing intently, costumes flooding Halloween streets, and the ceaseless chime of cash registers from merchandise sales. This was not just an outfit; it was the revolution, tailored.
Conclusion: The Transformative Power of Eras Tour Outfits
So there you have it – a riotous roll-call of the grand, the bold, and the beautiful titans of textile that gave voice to vinyls and lent lore to live sessions. As we bob and weave through the flexed muscles of cultural movements and technological bounty, the kaleidoscope of future eras tour outfits spins unchecked. With unwavering certainty, the relationship between the bodacious beats of music, the flamboyant fist of performance, and the daring dash of fashion will continue to ensnare, enrapture, and wholly bewitch us – stitching the world a tad closer, one insane era tour outfit at a time.
Unpacking the Madness: The 8 Most Outrageous Eras Tour Outfits
When it comes to concert get-ups, pop stars often pull out all the stops. But, hold onto your hats, because we’re about to rank the top 8 eras tour outfits that have made waves, raised eyebrows, and dropped jaws around the world. Remember, in the grand theater of pop concerts, the crazier, the better.
#8: The Blast from the Past Bonanza
Kicking off at number eight, we’ve seen outfits that look like they’ve time-traveled from decades past. Think sequins, bell-bottoms, and enough satin to make the ’70s jealous. These looks harken back to an age of groovy tunes and free love—yet with a 21st-century twist. That’s right, they’re not Yaya Toure -ing back the old times without adding their own modern flair.
#7: The Glittering Galaxy Getup
Now, imagine an outfit that’s as out of this world as the latest sci-fi flick. These stars don’t just reach for the moon; they dress like the entire galaxy. Sparkling bodysuits with LED lights that make constellations look like child’s play. It’s enough to make you wonder if they’ve got astronauts hidden up their sleeves!
#6: The Balancing Act Attire
Nothing says “Look at me!” like balancing on the tightrope of fashion’s do’s and don’ts. Picture this: high-waisted pants paired with a top that’s more air than fabric, all while teasing gravity with platform boots the size of skyscrapers. It’s a style high-wire act that could make even Kaili Thorne s red-carpet looks seem tame in comparison.
#5: The Techy Texture Travesty
Oh boy, when these artists step out in outfits that mix textures like kids mix sodas, things get wild. We’re talking velvet and leather with a side of metallic mesh. It’s like someone dared them to find all the fabric samples and turn it into one getup. Believe it or not, they freaking pulled it off.
#4: The Bold Color Collision
Here’s where things start to get seriously mind-boggling. We’ve seen ensembles highlight colors that should’ve stayed in separate paint pots but somehow work together on stage—as if they’re saying, “Hey, who says blue and green should never be seen?” A visual symphony or a delightful mess? You decide.
#3: The Historical Hodgepodge
Right, now we’re diving deep. Some eras tour outfits look like they raided every history book. A touch of Tudor here, a splash of Grecian there, topped with a hint of Viking—because why not? These artists might make the history buffs scratch their heads, but fashion-wise, they’re cooking up a storm.
#2: The Alien Invasion Ensemble
Second place goes to the extraterrestrial extravaganza. With outfits that scream “I just jetted in from Mars, and boy, are my arms tired,” we’re left speechless. Metallics, antennae, the works. They’ve landed, they’re ready to party, and humanity just has to deal with it.
#1: The Ultimate Eras Tour Outfit Explosion
Drumroll, please—taking the crown for the most insane eras tour outfit is the uncategorizable, the indefinable, the “What in the world am I looking at?” ensemble. These are the outfits that defy genre, logic, and sometimes gravity. They’re a mishmash of every previous entry and then some. It’s like every era crashed into each other, and from the chaos, a phoenix of fashion rose up. It’s madness, it’s genius, it’s… art.
And there you have it, folks! The dizzying highs of eras tour outfits that prove pop stars are anything but boring. From historically mixed-up to boldly alien, they’ve served us looks that go down in history—mostly because they’re impossible to forget. What will they think of next? Only time (and probably a lot of glitter) will tell.
What happened to Lisa from Saved by the Bell?
Oh snap, what happened to Lisa Turtle from “Saved by the Bell”? Well, Lark Voorhies, the actress who bought sass and style to Bayside, had a bit of a rough patch after the show. She battled mental health issues but has since taken steps to bounce back, even penning books and starting her own business.
How old was Lark Voorhies on Saved by the Bell?
Back in Bayside High, Lark Voorhies wasn’t that far off from her character’s age. She was just 15 years old when she first played Lisa on “Saved by the Bell.” Talk about nailing the high school vibe!
Why is Lark Voorhies not in Saved by the Bell reboot?
Why isn’t Lark Voorhies in the “Saved by the Bell” reboot, though? Look, it seems she wasn’t initially asked to join the gang – talk about a bummer! But don’t fret, Voorhies made a comeback as Lisa in a special appearance, giving fans that hit of nostalgia we all craved.
How much is Lisa from Saved by the Bell worth?
Moving on to moolah — Lisa’s net worth, or rather, Lark Voorhies’, is no small potatoes. She’s sitting pretty with an estimated net worth of around half a million bucks. Not too shabby for a Bayside alum, eh?
When did Tiffani Amber Thiessen leave Saved by the Bell?
So when did Tiffani Amber Thiessen, our dear Kelly Kapowski, bid adieu to those hallowed Bayside halls? She left “Saved by the Bell” in 1993 after the “Graduation” episode but then popped up in the spin-off “Saved by the Bell: The College Years” because, you know, she just couldn’t get enough!
Why did Lisa and Kelly leave Saved by the Bell?
“Why did Lisa and Kelly leave ‘Saved by the Bell,’ anyway?” you ask. Thiessen and Voorhies were MIA for the “Saved by the Bell: The College Years” because they were movin’ on up! They spread their wings in pursuit of other, sparkly opportunities, leaving Zack and the rest of the crew gaping.
Did anyone from Saved by the Bell date in real life?
Turns out, the halls of Bayside were steamier than we thought! Yup, some of the cast dated IRL. Tiffani Thiessen and Mario Lopez were an item for a bit, making fans wonder, “Was it real or just Bayside love?”
How old was Mario Lopez during Saved by the Bell?
Speaking of A.C. Slater, how old was Mario Lopez during “Saved by the Bell”? Well, he was just a teen heartthrob at 16 when the show first aired. Seems like they were all just a bunch of kids, huh?
What is Lark Voorhies diagnosed with?
Now, it wasn’t all high school hijinks for Lark Voorhies; she’s been open about her mental health. In 2012, Voorhies revealed she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, a courageous step in battling the stigma.
Are the Saved by the Bell cast still friends?
But hey, are the “Saved by the Bell” folks still buddy-buddy? It’s like any old gang — they’ve had their ups and downs. But, good news: reunions and social media shout-outs show they’re still pals. Friendship never dies, am I right?
What was Saved by the Bell a spin off of?
Let’s rewind — “Saved by the Bell” was actually a spin-off. Whoa! It came from “Good Morning, Miss Bliss,” with the OG Mr. Belding and some of our favorite students before they hit Bayside.
Did Saved by the Bell reboot get Cancelled?
Now, onto the reboot — did “Saved by the Bell” get the boot? Unfortunately, after decent hype and two seasons, the bell rang one last time as the reboot was cancelled in 2022.
Who is the richest actor from Saved by the Bell?
Curious about who’s the richest actor from “Saved by the Bell”? That would be Mark-Paul Gosselaar, aka Zack Morris, with an estimated net worth of $9 million. Preppy sure made it big!
How much is Mario from Saved by the Bell worth?
And what about our beloved A.C. Slater’s worth? Mario Lopez has done pretty well for himself; he’s got a cool $25 million in his pocket. That’s a whole lotta wrestling singlets, folks!
How much was Dustin Diamond worth when he passed away?
Lastly, Dustin Diamond, our Screech, left us all too soon and his net worth was a bit of a mystery. When he passed away in 2021, reports suggested he was worth around $300,000. A sad end for a guy who brought so much laughter.

13 Oscar de la Renta Shirt + Jacket
Worn performing in the midnights set.
For the beginning of the final set of her concert, Midnights , Taylor Swift wore a sparkling lilac shirt dress, with a lilac fur jacket, and sparkling black boots. She later sheds the jacket during her performance of "Anti-Hero."
12 Jessica Jones Dress
Worn performing in the acoustics set.
Taylor Swift returned to her country roots during the Eras Tour, with an Acoustic set of songs. While performing four surprise songs from the acoustic set, she wore a dark pink dress with cap sleeves and ruffles, in tribute to her song "Maroon." The dress was designed by Jessica Jones, who has collaborated with the singer on previous occasions. In contrast to her sparkling bodysuits worn throughout her other eras, this simply designed dress offers a more stripped-down moment during Taylor's concert . It touchingly pays tribute to her early beginnings as a country singer-songwriter.
Jessica Jones notably designed the gold bodysuit worn by Taylor Swift at the 2019 American Music Awards; at this ceremony, Swift was awarded Artist of the Decade.

Oh, Red. The era of the most heartbreaking songs covering off emotional damage courtesy of Jake Gyllenhaal ( All Too Well) and Harry Styles (I Knew You Were Trouble). Here are some of our top picks for a Red- themed ensemble.

The Real Reason Taylor Swift Dresses Like That
A close read on a decade of outfits..

Considering the meta nature of Taylor Swift’ s performances — her autobiographical lyrics and her intimate connection with audiences — it’s unsurprising that her fashion choices betray self-consciousness. One senses that she isn’t entirely comfortable with high fashion, and maybe that’s something she shares with her young fans and why they instinctively relate to her. Swift is 34 and one of the most successful musical artists in history , with an empire estimated at over $1 billion . And much of that success is due to the image she projects — of a woman still coming of age, still discovering herself. Any style that’s too sophisticated or eccentric would spoil the illusion, and that goes for her red-carpet and casual attire as well as her stage clothes.
For the Eras tour, which had 16 costumes per show, Swift did have some looks by Versace, Oscar de la Renta, and Roberto Cavalli. But these are not the most exciting designer names. Besides, the Cavalli and Versace styles — a beaded miniskirt and cropped top or a bejeweled bodysuit, all worn with glitter boots — conformed to Swift’s favorite stage aesthetic of a drum majorette. She dressed like a marching-band leader, in a gold-braided white jacket and top hat, for her 2009 global Fearless tour. To me, so many of her costumes are reminiscent of the corny saloon-gal styles that another American sweetheart, Debbie Reynolds, wore in westerns, as well as the spangled costumes that the great Bob Mackie designed for TV variety shows in the 1960s and ’70s. There’s a wonderful hoofer charm, a showgirl moxie, about these Swift looks that resonate with audiences. During Eras, Swift also wore ethereal princess gowns — another key style for the singer — like a dreamy Elie Saab number in blush tulle and a lavender tiered Nicole + Felicia dress, both worn for the Speak Now section.
By contrast, other pop divas have harnessed high fashion to their power. Look at Madonna’s “Blond Ambition” phase, in 1990, and her use of Jean Paul Gaultier’s shocking designs. Beyoncé, for her Renaissance tour, completely bent fashion to her will, taking the work of some of the most daring designers — Marc Jacobs, Rick Owens, and Jonathan Anderson of Loewe, to name three — and pushing their looks for her further into fantasy.
That’s not Swift’s jam or, rather, her brand. She sees herself as a storyteller, in the tradition of Joni Mitchell. She has sung about love, breakups, revenge, family, and self-loathing. These are universal themes and especially relevant to girls and young women. Swift is famous for planting what she calls “ Easter eggs” — hidden clues — in her lyrics. Describing the strategy as a way to “incentivize” fans to read her lyrics, she has said, “I think the best messages are cryptic ones.” This also applies to her style. Indeed, with Swift — more than most pop stars — every choice seems to relate to her work or the Swift brand image. One obvious, feel-good connection point with her audience — which includes moms who accompany their daughters to concerts — is nostalgia and a feeling of pageantry. Some of her frothy gowns evoke not only high-school prom and images of old-style debutante parties but also the glamour of Edith Head’s movie costumes in the 1950s. Swift has said that watching Hitchcock’s Rear Window — gowns by Head — and reading the romantic novel Rebecca during lockdown influenced her albums Folklore and Evermore . In a cynical, fast-moving world, that kind of traditional form can seem quite attractive.
It’s also worth noting that Swift is hyperaware of the dangers of celebrity. “I see a lot of celebrities build up these emotional walls around themselves where they let no one in,” she said in 2014, “and that’s what makes them feel very lonely at the top.” Staying emotionally open in her lyrics and accessible in her fashion is surely a way she avoids creating walls. Her fans must sense that. But it can lead to some self-conscious looks on the red carpet and in her street attire. This was true of the white custom-made Schiaparelli gown with a floor-sweeping hem and train that she wore to this year’s Grammys , which was criticized across social media. On Instagram, Sarah Chapelle (@taylorswiftstyled), who is publishing a book this fall about Swift’s style, likened the gown’s draping to “tangled bedsheets” and said that considering it was the work of Daniel Roseberry, it was “almost a greater disappointment.” Chapelle, who has spent years tracking and decoding every detail of Swift’s outfits, assumed that the gown and its black accessories were Easter eggs. This time, the hint was to her forthcoming album The Tortured Poets Department, which has a black-and-white cover of a woman in black underwear lying in white sheets. Chapelle hunted down the make of the undies — a sheer Saint Laurent top and The Row’s briefs — and noted that Swift’s wearing so much of late from those brands was no coincidence. “Is there ever one with Taylor, really?” wrote Chapelle. She felt that the beautiful elements of the Schiaparelli gown were “sacrificed to the early evocation of a scholarly-sounding album.”
In other words, Swift laid a bad egg.
There is also a fair amount of calculation in the singer’s off-duty clothes — more than a non-Swifty might suppose, given how basic much of her street style is. Her favorite looks, and maybe her best, are easy slip dresses, or a frilly white shirt with denim cutoffs and boots, or a schoolgirl plaid skirt with a plain sweater and chunky loafers — what one Swiftologist calls “liberal arts student, Shoreditch dweller.” Though Swift is known for wearing relatively inexpensive brands like Rails, House of CB (for a $119 black bustier top she wore earlier this year with a $1,400 Miu Miu mini), Madewell and Reformation, she also wears a lot of high-end labels, including Louis Vuitton, Gucci, The Row, Stella McCartney, and Area. Lots of celebrities play with a similar high-low mix, but with Swift, the effect generally comes off as decidedly junior, as though she’s consciously trying not to get above her fans’ tastes or means.
As a Kansas City Chiefs fan, I watched Swift’s appearances during the NFL season to cheer on her boyfriend , Travis Kelce . Still, I found nothing special about her red sweaters and bombers, with layers of gold jewelry, other than a tie-in to K.C.’s team color. But Chapelle found the Easter eggs. The red crewneck, from Gigi Hadid’s Guest in Residence brand , that Swift wore to the Chiefs’ title match with the Ravens was a “sentimental” nod to a friend. In Chapelle’s view, its plainness showed that Swift was careful “to strike a more supportive spectator (not starring) role” at such a big game. Chapelle clocked her diamond tennis bracelet with the romantic letters “TNT” and then linked the style to the friendship bracelets her fans wear, a fad that started because of a line in a song she wrote.
The fact that Swift makes all these gestures, with or without the help of a stylist (she has long worked with Joseph Cassell), is a great way to keep her fans engaged. And apparently, it’s also good for business. But it seems exhausting and limiting for a woman in her mid-30s to dress according to a lyric or a girlish sentiment. You can understand why many people on fan sites wish she’d take more risks with her street style. They’re probably bored with the “liberal arts student” look. It’s also a little disingenuous, given her grown-up status. I admire the fact that she doesn’t seem interested in playing the high-fashion game — that is, turning up at the shows or appearing in a campaign or being a brand ambassador. She has her own immense platform, which she’s used for political and social causes.
But she could afford to go further in her style. Instead of a schoolgirl skirt or a baggy pair of jeans, she’d look amazing in, say, a sleek Dior pencil suit, made to measure — why not? — and without all the trinket jewelry, however expensive. It’s worth remembering that Taylor Swift has always been older and wiser than her years. The girl can’t be discovering herself forever.

Taylor Swift's outfit in new 'Fortnight' video designed by Milwaukee artist Elena Velez
In her latest music video, “Fortnight,” Taylor Swift donned a Victorian-gothic-style outfit that was designed by emerging Milwaukee artist Elena Velez .
The video, which was released Friday, had nearly 18 million views by Saturday night on YouTube and is the No. 1 trending video for music.
The ensemble designed by Velez and worn by Swift makes its appearance at a little more than one minute into the video just before the music artist Post Malone makes an appearance and the two performers start using early 1900s typewriters.
The all-black outfit is actually separates and is not a dress, according to the Taylor Swift fashion blog Taylorswiftstyle.com .
The pieces are from Velez’s Fall 2024 collection, which debuted in February.
Velez told Vogue magazine that her intentions with this collection included bringing a “more multi-dimensional representation of womanhood, good and bad; one that accepts the difficult, complicated, ugly truth of being a woman as part of the beauty that makes us whole…”
The dark and gloomy outfit fits the overall mood of Swift’s new album, “The Tortured Poets Department.”
It is reminiscent of the dresses worn by high-class women of the late 1800s and early 1900s in Europe and the U.S.
The look was popularized by Queen Victoria of England, who wore elegant and elaborate funeral garb in public mourning of her husband Albert, who died in 1861, until her own death in 1901.
Velez posted a picture of Swift wearing the ensemble on her Instagram page , but she has not made public comments about the exposure, yet.
Velez is of Puerto Rican heritage but was raised in Milwaukee by a single mother who was a ship captain on the Great Lakes. Velez told Journal Sentinel reporter Hannah Kirby in March that influenced her artistic identity.
Educated in fashion design in Paris and London with degrees in 2018 and 2020, she was quickly noticed in the fashion world. Velez was the 2022 Council of Fashion Designers of America’s “Emerging Designer of the Year” award winner and the 2022 Vogue Fashion Fund winner.
Velez says on her website that some of her proudest work so far has been with Midwestern makers to help democratize resources and recognition for artists outside of traditional creative capitals.
She is now based in New York.
