General tickets on sale starting friday, september 15  .

Due to overwhelming demand, GRAMMY Award-nominated and multi-platinum selling rock band Fall Out Boy ’s worldwide So Much For (Tour) Dust tour will continue next year with the announcement of So Much For (2our) Dust , a 20+ date run across the United States.

So Much For (2our) Dust , presented by Live Nation, will kick off February 28, 2024 in Portland, OR and travel through cities including Seattle, Austin, Orlando, Baltimore, and Nashville before concluding April 6, 2024 in Minneapolis, MN. The trek also includes a stop at New York City’s famed Madison Square Garden on March 22, 2024.

Jimmy Eat World will join So Much For (2our) Dust on all dates as special guests; The Maine, Hot Mulligan, Daisy Grenade, Games We Play and CARR will join the tour on select shows throughout the run.

Ticket pre-sales for So Much For (2our) Dust begin Wednesday, September 13 at 9:30am local time. General tickets will be available beginning Friday, September 15 at 10am local time. For all dates and details, please visit www.falloutboy.com/tour .

The news follows the August 6 conclusion of So Much For (Tour) Dust ’s initial North American run, which kicked off June 21 with a sold out, epic hometown show at Wrigley Field in Chicago, IL and was dubbed “the loudest concert Wrigley’s ever had” by the Chicago Sun-Times.

Each show also included the use of a Magic 8 Ball to surprise fans with a performance of a Fall Out Boy song that had never played live before, which became one of the most buzzed about topics of the summer, igniting fans across social media – and spawning a trend on TikTok , with hundreds of thousands of views – to determine what songs might be coming next.

So Much For (Tour) Dust has proven to be another career display of Fall Out Boy ’s undeniable and renowned live performance prowess, featuring multiple sold-out dates; four stadiums shows (Fenway Park in Boston, Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, two nights at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles); special guests (Mikey Way in San Diego, Travie McCoy in Queens); unforgettable  production, visual effects and pyrotechnics; and widespread praise from fans and critics alike:

“In a dazzling concert packed with Fall Out Boy songs new and old, the band proved why they still have the hearts of pop-punk lovers of all ages.” – Tampa Bay Times

“At Fenway, Fall Out Boy bring the fireworks” – Boston Globe

“When they took the stage, Fall Out Boy immediately showed they’re in the upper echelon of modern rock performers alongside the likes of Weezer, Green Day and Foo Fighters.” – Exclaim!

“Fall Out Boy gave us more than we bargained for with a genre-defying, sensational show… The highlight of the evening came when the stage was stripped down, the backdrop dimmed and the lighting rigs lowered, creating the illusion of an intimate club reminiscent of the ones where Fall Out Boy played during their formative years. Fall Out Boy’s flawless performance of their timeless anthem, “Grand Theft Autumn,” reminded us of the lasting impact of their music.” – Dallas Observer

“Patrick Stump, Pete Wentz, Andy Hurley, and Joe Trohman let it all hang out on stage after going through their extensive catalog of tunes that helped shape a generation of millennials who grew up choosing to proudly showcase the pop rock genre on their thoughtfully curated Myspace profile pages. The sold out crowd flooded merchandise lines that stretched around the sunny field before the beginning of the event to show fierce loyalty and dedication to a group that continues to not only stand the test of time, but swiftly adapt in the ever changing scene known as the music industry.” – The Queens Gazette

“In addition to delivering a great set of music, Fall Out Boy lit up the night with a pyrotechnics display worthy of a July 4 celebration.” – Cleveland Plain-Dealer

“Fall Out Boy burn bright at Michigan’s Pine Knob Music Theatre… the pop-punk titans still have plenty of sway in the area…With the combination of classics and recent hits, sparks flew at the concert (literally and figuratively).” – Glide Magazine

“We’re all united in this moment. We’re here for the same reason: to forget the woes of the real world and to be transported through the decades of the storylines that Fall Out Boy has so graciously given us over the past 20 years.” – Cincinnati CityBeat

The UK and European leg of So Much For (Tour) Dust kicks off October 17 in Warsaw, Poland and concludes November 8 in Berlin, Germany, with multiple dates (Munich, Paris, Amsterdam, Leeds, Manchester, Cardiff) already sold out. The band will continue performing for fans around the world this year with a recently announced December 6 date in Bangkok as well as multiple cities (Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane) across Australia as part of the Good Things Festival from December 1-3. In August, the band performed at Summer Sonic in both Tokyo and Osaka .

So Much For (2our) Dust is in support of Fall Out Boy’s most recent, critically acclaimed 8 th studio album So Much (For) Stardust , which debuted as the No. 1 rock album upon its March 24 release on Fueled By Ramen/Elektra/DCD2 Records and features the global smash single “Love From The Other Side.”

The album has also garnered Fall Out Boy two current nominations for the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards – Best Alternative (“Hold Me Like A Grudge”) and Best Visual Effects (“Love From The Other Side”).

Additionally, the band currently stars in NBC Sports’ B1G Saturday Night show open this season. The show open – with a chorus of “ Here Comes Saturday Night ” – debuted on September 2 ahead of the season-opening West Virginia-Penn State game. Fall Out Boy also headlines the NBC Sports and Peacock Big Ten Football promotional campaign , appearing across NBCUniversal platforms throughout the summer and fall.

Fall Out Boy

Fall Out Boy announced the dates for their So Much For ( Tour ) Dust North American tour on Tuesday morning (Jan. 31). The 29-city tour in support of their upcoming So Much (For) Stardust album (March 24) is slated to kick off in the band’s home town on June 21 with a gig at the iconic home of the Chicago Cubs: Wrigley Field.

FOB kicked off the Stardust era in style last week with a surprise homecoming show at Chicago’s 1,100-capacity Metro, just over 20 years after their very first gig at the legendary club, which is just around the corner from Wrigley Field. The Metro show featured the live debut of two Stardust singles, “Love From the Other Side” and “Heartbreak Feels So Good,” as well as the live debut of the band’s current configuration, which, for the first time since their founding, will not feature guitarist Joe Trohman, who recently announce that he was taking an  indefinite mental health hiatus .

In his stead, singer Patrick Stump is pulling double-duty on lead vocals and electric guitar alongside bassist Pete Wentz and drummer Andy Hurley. As was the case during a pair of previous promotional appearances, the group got some  assistance  from longtime guitar tech Ben Young, who played lead guitar from the side of the stage; at press time a spokesperson for the group had not responded to a request about whether Trohman will be back in the fold for the tour.

Fall Out Boy Announces Second Round of ‘So Much for (Tour) Dust’ Dates With Jimmy Eat World

By Larisha Paul

Larisha Paul

A month ago, Fall Out Boy wrapped the North American leg of their first solo headlining tour since 2018, the So Much For (Tour) Dust tour in support of their latest album So Much (For) Stardust . Now, the band is gearing up for another round with the newly-announced So Much For (2our) Dust tour, a 23-show run featuring support from Jimmy Eat World on all dates.

The So Much For (2our) Dust tour is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, Feb. 28 in Portland. Fall Out Boy will make stops in Seattle, Austin, Orlando, Grand Rapids, Nashville, and more, including a night at New York’s Madison Square Garden. The tour will wrap on Saturday, April 6 in Minneapolis.

The band will be joined on select dates by The Maine, Hot Mulligan, Daisy Grenade, Games We Play, and CARR.

The band was joined on the road earlier this year by Bring Me the Horizon on most dates, with support from Alkaline Trio, New Found Glory, Four Years Strong, The Academy Is…, Royal & The Serpent, Games We Play, Daisy Grenade, and Carr for select shows.

Fall Out Boy first teased tour dates ahead of the album, which arrived March 24, with cryptic “They Will Come” messages plastered on venue marquees throughout Chicago, Metro, and Wrigley Field, with nods to the 1989 film Field of Dreams.

Fall Out Boy was all I ever dreamed of and more. Patrick, Pete, Joe, and Andy all did an amazing job. They come out with a bang LITERALLY. They had fire shooting in the air when they came out. In between every couple of their songs Pete Wentz would say an inspiring message that would raise your self confidence or get you fired up about life then at the end of his message he would say a lyric that had to do with what he was saying then they would instantly jump into that song. The lights were astounding especially at the end when it rained sparks. Speaking of lights on one of their songs Patrick had everyone in the stadium especiallythose on the lawn raise a light while they sang, it was breath taking it looked like a giant body of stars shining and moving together to the beat of "Just one yesterday". This is definitely a concert to take your parents to because at one point Pete came out and said his dad always hated his concerts because he didn't know any of the songs so they played "We are the champions" while Patrick dramatically rose from under the stage with a piano and after that went straight into "Save rock and roll". After about the first five songs there was a intermission like thing, but instead of elevator music Andy and Patrick were rolled onto the stage with drum sets and had a fucking drum war to the beat of some remixed collage of rap songs and it was absolutely stunning watching them go back and forth. Patrick was smiling so wide I thought his cheeks were going to explode. I've been listening to Fall Out Boy since I was in 6th grade and rocking out to "I Don't Care" every day when I came home from kids ignoring me. Fall Out Boy has an amazing message they put into every album. They write the battles of their souls and make it to where you can dance or scream along to get rid of all your sorrow or at least have strength to fight it. Every song has a beautiful way with words that lights a fire down within you to keep pushing and fight for what you believe in until your last breath. They inspire so many with only an album of words at a time and that is a talent not many possess.

Fall Out Boy... While their music has changed over the years, each album is just as good as the first, if not better. They have really stayed true to their rock and roll image and sound.

Going to a Fall Out Boy concert takes you back in time to the very first time you ever heard their music. It's like 2008 never ended! Words cannot describe the experience you will have at their show, I have seen them twice in concert and this last concert was definitely better than the first. Fall Out Boy knows how to put on a show! Lead singer, Patrick Stump, jumps and dances around the stage for two hours and never misses a note. Pete Wentz's guitar/bass skills will leave you speechless. Fall Out Boy is so dedicated to their music that they rarely ever stop the show to talk - they play music almost nonstop.

Fall Out Boy uses the coolest special effects in their shows. Ranging from fire, to fireworks, to a demon that's trying to destroy rock and roll, they will not disappoint your expectations. They really care about their fans too. They asked how many parents were in the crowd and he said his dad used to take him to rock concerts and the drive home was always awkward because his dad never knew any of the songs the band would play. So to combat the awkward car ride home, they did a cover of a song EVERYBODY knows- "We Are The Champions." They also take a picture with the crowd at every show to make sure they don't forget the night in the jumble of shows they do.

The boys really know how to work a crowd. Pete crowd surfed while Andy and Patrick had a guitar battle at the end of the show. They always leave the crowd with an encouraging and positive message, which is greatly appreciated. You will not be disappointed if you attend one of their shows!

I've seen Fall Out Boy twice in my short lifetime, and on both occasions it was magical beyond belief. To say that I was blissed-out would be a tremendous understatement. The boys, as usual did a great job, played their songs amazingly and connected well with the audience. Their acoustic renditions of songs "Young Volcanoes" and "Immortals" were especially pleasant, and the angst-rock pop-punk teenage-trouble anthem "I Don't Care" was a mega crowd pleaser. While their set may have been a tad short for my liking, it was wonderful all the same and incredibly entertaining, with short-film type things in the gap between some songs. The light show was epic, with the band literally coming in and out with a bang. During many songs there were flames shooting behind them (light em up, up, up...) and fireworks were even preset during the ever-amazing song "Alone Together" off of their 2013 album "Save Rock And Roll".

Although Fall Out Boy was the headliner (and honestly, the reason I payed to see the concert), their special guest on the Boys Of Zummer tour, Wiz Khalifa, was also a great addition to the concert and a large part of why I had such a good time. Not being a rap fan myself, I was pleasantly surprised at my enjoyment of Khalifa's set. It was especially entertaining when (during his hit song "Young, Wild, and Free") he threw the crowd giant inflatable blunts to toss around and dance with. MAX was also present, and I either missed an earlier set of his OR he only preformed one song (that being in between the Wiz Khalifa and Fall Out Boy set.)... Which, regardless of length, was really cool.

I wouldn't miss seeing Fall Out Boy live for the world, and needless to say, buying tickets is a very good investment. :)

Fall Out Boy has been my favorite band since I was a Junior in High School back in '03. They're an all-around amazing band, and their live shows are even better, which is why I keep going back for more.

Fall Out Boy has never disappointed me, their stage presence and ability to get the crowd super hyped is off the charts. In the many shows I have been to, no one has ever gotten music fans more excited about the whole concert experience than Fall Out Boy.

Although I have always preferred seeing them at a small venue rather than a large arena, either way they sound phenomenal and perform amazingly live. From Patrick's majestic vocals, to Pete's ability to get the girls (and guys) riled up with just a smile, to Andy's insane skills as a drummer and Joe's fabulous hair swishing about as he shreds his guitar, I can guarantee it'll be a show that you'll hold with you forever. The stages are never really super elaborate, but its always just enough to add a bit of flair to their set. I remember in 2005 on the Nintendo Fusion tour, the entire band wore prep school uniforms during their set. That small detail just made the experience a thousand times more awesome to watch.

The guys deserve every bit of fame they have. I have met Patrick (actually he signed my arm and I got his signature tattooed from the 11/11/2007 show in Virginia) and Pete outside of the venues, and they are both just genuinely super nice guys and you get the vibe that they really appreciate you coming out to see them. During the shows they always take time to thank their fans in between songs, and it makes you feel really special. So next time they come around, you better go or you'll be making the biggest mistake of your life!

Overall this was a great concert. Fall Out Boy had a fantastic set and the atmosphere was awesome. The audio mixing was a little rough at times, with some songs having completely unintelligible vocals, being drowned out by an overly high bass mix and having everything mixed too close to redline. I would back it all off a notch and the bass maybe two so that the music comes across at a higher quality.

The Struts were interesting, great performance even if I didn't know most of their songs.

New Politics was a surprise hit with a wonderful performance, good mixing, and great songs.

Bastille was a good performance overall. The stage seemed a little crowded for them due to FOB's equipment behind them. Their audio had some hiccups at times, sounding robotic when it shouldn't have. Otherwise the music was great. The biggest problem I had with their set was the lighting. For the majority of the set their lights were aimed directly into our seats, preventing us from seeing anything, let alone their performance. Part of this is the design on the venue, but their show should have been adapted to that.

AWOLNation was underwhelming, all in all I would say the worst performance of the night. Their sound was of poor quality and the performance was just not that great overall. If I had the chance I would not buy tickets to one of their shows.

If I were to produce the show, I would have cut AWOLNation and given FOB a longer time to play. They were the real crowd pleasers with AWOLNation simply an afterthought to most concert goers.

When I heard that Fall Out Boy was going on tour, I knew I had to go see them no matter what! I absolutely love FOB, and have been dying to see them live!!!! <3

Getting tickets was such a suspense because they sold so fast, but I managed to nab one of the last GA Floor tickets which I was super stoked about. Then the question was how I was going to get to Hollywood FL all the way from the Tampa area since I don't have a car. (Merely a minor technicality lol ;) )

Ended up driving down with a friend so that was great. Met some awesome people while waiting in line to go in

Then the concert itself. Well it goes without saying that FOB were absolutely incredible!!! The show was amazing and Patrick, Pete, Joe and Andy are such talented and awesome people!!!! I was up on the barricade on Pete's side, and he was literally right there in front of me!!!!! Still can't believe that I was actually there and actually saw them! When they were coming out on stage, there was a picture of a mountain and then from the ceiling bubble bits of foam came floating down over the whole arena.FOB made it snow in Florida!!!! It was magical, the magic of FOB. All the lights and special effects were so good! Then for the cherry on top of the whole experience, I managed to get a guitar pick (after some shameless begging hahahaha). :D

Yep, great concert, great band, can't wait for the next time!!!

The last show of the Save Rock and Roll era was just as amazing as the rest (if not better)! It was the only Monumentour show without Paramore, so I got to see more of just Fall Out Boy, which was great as I'm not a huge Paramore fan. After a very talented opening by New Politics, Fall Out Boy played a selection of their best songs: some hits like "thnks fr th mmrs" and "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark", and also variety from each album, including less popular ones, which is really unusual compared to a lot of bands, who often play songs only fr the newest album. One thing that really made this show memorable were Pete's tear-inducing speeches throughout the show. He is an amazing speaker as well as lyricist and bassist for the band! Patrick's Elton John impression in Save Rock and Roll was hilarious (but also very accurate). And when it came to their last song, they ended with what seems to be a tradition-- "Saturday". It's a song from their first official album about the band and their rise to fame, with lyrics like "me and Pete...", which really captured the feel of the band and and gave us hope that there might be another album coming soon... After that, the crowd started chanting "Centuries" (which is their new single) in hope that they would play it, but they didn't. All in all, it was an absolutely amazing concert and all I want is to go back and do it again!

Fall Out Boy is my second favorite band. I grew up listening to their music. I'm 15, and I've been a fan for 8 years. After 8 years of waiting to see them live, I finally got to see them live at the Boys Of Zummer tour in Chicago with Wiz Khalifa, Hoodie Allen, MAX, and DJ Drama. The concert was great, but there was a lot of people, teenagers, smoking pot and passing joints. Luckily it was an outdoor venue so the smoke aired out easier but it smelled so bad of smoke, especially when Wiz was playing. People kept shoving my friend and I around because they were high and wasted. They were overall obnoxious. When Fall Out Boy took the stage, it started pouring down rain, which was fine because we were all hot and humid and it was in general just a lot of fun. People who were smoking left because Wiz was done with his set, which was nice so we could all actually breathe. I was more than amazed over FOB's set. The only thing is was that it seemed way too short. Before I knew it, it was all over! I guess I was having too much fun. But to anyone who attended the Boys of Zummer tour, don't you feel like Wiz Khalifa played longer than Fall Out Boy? I feel like they did. Anyway, great show despite the things I mentioned before and it was a dream come true for me :) I'd recommend taking all your friends/family to a FOB show because you'd all have a blast. There's my review! Thanks! X

Really great gig. The O2 was overpriced as always and badly organised.

We missed the very first support band but against the current were pretty energetic and fun.

Fall Out Boy, burst onto the stage with a lot of energy and pyrotechnics.

I did however feel a little disengaged with them, but I think that is just what you get from stadium shows.

The crowd was unusual to me as there wasnt a whole lot of "rock" fans so not the normal hustle and bustle, moshing or jumping. Just a lot of people standing about and singing. It was disappointing to learn that Pete sings a lot less in person than I though he did. But generally a good gig, personally however I am glad that the ticket was a gift because if I had paid full price for that level of energy I would have been a bit annoyed.

It was the end of the tour so I understand that its tiring af, so not truly upset.

Really weird that for "champion" a song I had not yet heard that they had an entire montage about princess Dianna. Wrong generation there buddy. And to show "driving" and crash footage just seemed a little messed up. I dont know. And to follow that with a song with the words crash in it, again, seemed weird.

Overall, interesting show, I would see them again but perhaps only at a festival. Little lacking in energy but hey, they still came all this way to play.

‘Pearl Jam — Dark Matter’ To Hit Theaters For One Night Only

Jimmy Eat World will join So Much For (2our) Dust on all dates as special guests. The Maine, Hot Mulligan, Daisy Grenade, Games We Play and CARR will join the tour on select shows throughout the run. Visit Fall Out Boy’s official website for further information on all the dates. The news follows the August 6 conclusion of “So Much For (Tour) Dust’s” initial North American run, which kicked off June 21 with a sold out, epic hometown show at Wrigley Field in Chicago, IL and was dubbed “the loudest concert Wrigley’s ever had” by the Chicago Sun-Times .

Each show also included the use of a Magic 8 Ball to surprise fans with a performance of a Fall Out Boy song that had never played live before, which became one of the most buzzed about topics of the summer, igniting fans across social media – and spawning a trend on TikTok, with hundreds of thousands of views – to determine what songs might be coming next.

“So Much For (Tour) Dust” has proven to be another career display of Fall Out Boy’s renowned live performance prowess, featuring multiple sold-out dates; four stadiums shows (Fenway Park in Boston, Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, two nights at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles); special guests; unforgettable production, visual effects and pyrotechnics; and widespread praise from fans and critics alike:

The Tampa Bay Times said “In a dazzling concert packed with Fall Out Boy songs new and old, the band proved why they still have the hearts of pop-punk lovers of all ages.” The Boston Globe enthused “At Fenway, Fall Out Boy bring the fireworks.” Exclaim said “When they took the stage, Fall Out Boy immediately showed they’re in the upper echelon of modern rock performers alongside the likes of Weezer , Green Day and Foo Fighters.”

The UK and European leg of “So Much For (Tour) Dust” kicks off October 17 in Warsaw, Poland and concludes November 8 in Berlin, Germany, with multiple dates (Munich, Paris, Amsterdam, Leeds, Manchester, Cardiff) already sold out. The band will continue performing for fans around the world this year with a recently announced December 6 date in Bangkok as well as multiple cities (Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane) across Australia as part of the Good Things Festival from December 1-3.

Fall Out Boy + Bring Me the Horizon Announce 2023 North American Tour

Fall Out Boy are hitting the road with Bring Me the Horizon  this year. The two just announced a set of 2023 North American tour dates together. Alkaline Trio will join them for three of the shows. The package includes several concerts at major stadiums.

Plus, additional bands New Found Glory, Four Year Strong, The Academy Is…, Royal & The Serpent, Games We Play, Daisy Grenade and Carr will provide further support on select dates on the trek.

See the tour dates near the bottom of this post.

Last week, Fall Out Boy  teased the tour with a video showing venues displaying the newly adopted Fall Out Boy proverb,  "If you build it, they will come."  They later  shared an image resembling BMTH's  That's the Spirit album artwork with the caption, "Things are looking overcast on the horizon. Check back tomorrow [Jan. 31] to see if weather conditions improve."

Last month, Fall Out Boy announced So Much (for) Stardust , their forthcoming eighth studio album. It features " Love From the Other Side " and " Heartbreak Feels So Good ," both released in January. Fall Out Boy heavily  teased the album earlier this year.

Two weeks ago, founding Fall Out Boy guitarist Joe Trohman revealed that he was taking a break from the band for mental health reasons. Fall Out Boy singer-guitarist Patrick Stump , bassist Pete Wentz and drummer Andy Hurley supported his decision.

"It pains me to make this decision, especially when we are releasing a new album that fills me with great pride," Trohman said  in a statement on Jan. 18.

Meanwhile, Bring Me the Horizon's latest full length,  POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR came out in 2020 and has been succeeded by a number of singles, the most recent being "STraNgeRs."

Fall Out Boy shows Columbus how a veteran rock band perseveres and sounds good while they’re doing it

By: Nicholas Kobe Posted on: Tuesday, April 2, 2024

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WOUB) – Fall Out Boy’s So Much For (2our) Dust tour hit the Schottenstein Center (555 Borr Drive) Friday, with openers Jimmy Eat World , Hot Mulligan , and CARR in tow.

The veteran pop punk group set out on the worldwide tour last year, shortly after releasing So Much For Stardust , the band’s first album since 2018. The tour was overwhelmingly successful, and Friday’s show was one of more than 20 dates added to its itinerary in response.

As someone who saw this tour last year (not as a member of the press), I came expecting basically the same show. As I would find out, I’d be leaving even more impressed than I’d expected – not only because it wasn’t the same show I saw last summer, but also due to a few things which went awry.

The poster for Fall Out Boy's current 2024 tour.

This generally warmer feeling applies, albeit in a less dramatic sense, to the night’s first opener, Carly McClellan, a.k.a. CARR. After being unenthused with her performance last summer, I was happy to see the New Jersey alt-pop singer has noticeably stepped up her game, even if a few of her biggest flaws remain.

CARR’s very brief set showcasing her brand of catchy, snarky pop punk seemed to go over well with the crowd, even if that meant (by far) the least energetic response of the night. While you’d expect this with openers, I don’t think we can attribute the lack of enthusiasm solely to that. Although CARR has the kind of irreverent attitude cherished not only by Gen Z audiences, but also historically in the context of pop-punk as a whole; you’d only know how funny CARR is if judging solely by her lyrics and between song banter.

Sure, she’s a good singer, but she just walks around the stage while she’s doing it.

It isn’t her fault she can’t lean on absurd visual effects the way Fall Out Boy does, but it’s a problem as a solo artist when your drummer is giving a more visually captivating performance than you are. All this said, her performance was still a huge improvement over what I saw last summer. This is reassuring: she’s got the vocal talent and up-front personality to become something great, it’s just a lack of experience that seems to be the issue.

Up next was the musical outlier of the night, Hot Mulligan. Although the group shares some basic punk and rock “musical ancestry” with bands like Jimmy Eat World and Fall Out Boy, Hot Mulligan’s  Midwest emo leanings put them in a completely different sub-genre. However, while they maybe would make more sense opening for American Football, their wailing self-loathing worked well in the context of a straightforward pop-punk show like this.

Hot Mulligan’s whiney and slurred vocals are a trademark of Midwest emo, and you’ll either love that or hate it. As someone who generally leans towards the “love” side of that spectrum, I was generally happy with their performance. In terms of memorable and emotionally packed songs, Hot Mulligan surpassed CARR. Like CARR, however, the performance suffered when it came to stage presence.

Judging by their energy, you’d think the Lansing, MI natives were still the sort of group that plays backyards and basements, instead of literal stadiums. There was a raw feeling to the way the band flailed around on stage that I think added to the music.

Hot Mulligan takes themselves seriously, and in this case it hindered more than it helped. Being serious isn’t a bad thing, but in a genre as inherently goofy as Midwest emo, on top of awkward stage banter, it left a somewhat sour taste in my mouth. I still enjoyed Hot Mulligan, but considering the band is getting close to their tenth anniversary, it’s harder to write off their flaws in comparison to a new act like CARR.

Jimmy Eat World is the most notable addition to So Much For (2our) Dust , replacing the spot on the initial lineup occupied by British rockers Bring Me The Horizon. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed Bring Me the Horizon’s performance, but their sound was objectively too heavy for a lineup like this.

Jimmy Eat World, on the other hand, felt perfect. Even knowing that Jimmy Eat World pre-dates every other band on this bill, I was still shocked at their musical tightness. After CARR and Hot Mulligan, it was a night and day difference.

Admittedly, I’m not the biggest Jimmy Eat World fan, but even though I wasn’t as familiar with their music, I had an absolute blast watching them. The setlist was incredibly well-rounded, very rarely letting off the gas pedal. It was just an hour of dancing and singing along – often to songs I may not have loved when I heard them on the record, but was over the moon with when I heard them live.

Even with their professionalism and clear experience, the band was still having so much fun on stage, and that bled throughout the arena. I left their set not only feeling satisfied with the party I just had, but also eager to keep it going.

Also, yes, The Middle is even better live than you think it could be.

A promotional image of the band Fall Out Boy, all seated on a couch in a dark room.

Both of these runs of songs were the most energetic part of the show, in large part because this is where they allocated their – frankly, absurd – pyro budget.

Pete Wentz’s flamethrower bass for The Phoenix and My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark was my favorite example of this, along with the fire by Andy Hurley’s drum kit. There were also plenty of fireworks, which were cool in theory, but way too loud in a fully enclosed arena. Luckily, the fireworks were not a constant, so for a good 95 percent of the show, it wasn’t an issue.

When I said that the “greatest hits” run of this show was the most energetic part, it wasn’t by a huge margin.

The rest of Fall Out Boy’s set met the bar in terms of fan energy and visuals, as well as occasionally exceeding both, with some of my favorite deep cuts in their entire catalog coming out. Visually, I loved all the sets and stage props, especially the hilarious inflatable dog head that helped sing This Ain’t A Scene, It’s An Arms Race . The same goes for the giant snail, and dude in a bunny suit for Uma Thurman .

Could I explain why half this stuff was on stage?

But, was I laughing to myself at how goofy and fun it was the whole time?

Absolutely.

The new musical additions to the setlist, such as Hum Hallelujah , Dead on Arrival , and the greatest “situation-ship” anthem of all time Bang The Doldrums had me screaming at the top of my lungs, along with some personal favorites returning from their 2023 tour like Headfirst Slide into Cooperstown on a Bad Bet  and Disloyal Order of Water Buffalos .

Of course, if we’re talking about deep cuts, we have to talk about Patrick Stump’s Piano Medley and the random Magic 8 Ball song, which both feature random songs from the band’s discography. Hearing Patrick play What A Catch Donnie is was fantastic, even if it’s just a small portion of it. I also was pretty pleased to hear Fourth of July  as our “Magic 8 Ball” random song. It’s an exciting and generally underrated deep cut from American Beauty/American Psycho , that was great live, even if it made me wish they had allotted some fireworks for a song like this.

Fourth of July  also was one of a few times where Patrick’s mic stopped working, with him missing most of the first verse on this song. While it did take me out of the moment, the band pushed on every time and came right back in as if nothing had happened. Speaking of Patrick, he very early on admitted he was sick and it was taking a toll on his voice. Sure, you could notice he sounded a little different, but he still sounded phenomenal, while still having room to be dynamic and charismatic on stage and play the guitar. His piano section showed how funny and down-to-earth he is, as he asked the audience to forgive him for being sick, before bursting into a Queen cover.

Fall Out Boy’s setlist may be designed to have some chaos, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t obvious how well these four guys played together, and how long they’ve been doing it.

Jumping from last year’s, Fake Out and So Much (For) Stardust  to playing four songs from Take This To Your Grave , an album that’s older than me, So Much For (2our) Dust is a full celebration of Fall Out Boy’s legacy. Considering how many fans of all ages grew up and were in attendance singing along to every one of these songs, it’s clear that they’ve earned it.

I expected to leave Friday night feeling excited, which I did, but seeing how well Fall Out Boy rose to the challenge made me even more certain they’ve earned their place at the top of rock, and that they’ve still got years of greatness left in them.

Concert Review: Fall Out Boy brought heat to Schottenstein Center

After seeing  Fall Out Boy  for the third  time  last summer at Riverbend Music Center, I knew I needed to see my favorite band again. Fortunately, I got tickets for the second leg of their U.S. tour,  So Much for (2our) Dust , and attended the Columbus show at the Schottenstein Center Friday. Spoiler alert: I had the night of my life.

Between trading bracelets and theorizing about the night's Magic 8 ball song with fellow Fall Out Boy fans, I watched the opening bands  CARR ,  Hot Mulligan  and  Jimmy Eat World  each work the room and set the stage for what would be a light-hearted, fun show. It was a little strange being the only one standing up and dancing for the most part (until people stood up for Jimmy Eat World's last song, " The Middle "), but it was fun nonetheless.

Fall Out Boy's introduction song, " The Pink Seashell (feat. Ethan Hawke) ," started over the speakers, and the audience came alive. When the red curtain finally opened, revealing the band and pyrotechnics, the crowd roared to life with " Love From The Other Side ." The band kept up the hype with its well-known songs " The Phoenix ," " Sugar, We're Goin Down " and " Uma Thurman ."

The middle of their set blew hardcore fans away by dragging out b-sides like " Hum Hallelujah ," " G.I.N.A.S.F.S. " and " Bang The Doldrums ." Many of those have been played a few times throughout the tour, but seldom have they been played in the same show. Of course, they littered other big songs of theirs like " Grand Theft Autumn / Where Is Your Boy " and " This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race " in between fan favorites like " Dead On Arrival " and " Calm Before the Storm ."

Mid-show, lead singer Patrick Stump bravely revealed to the crowd that he was sick. "I keep going for these big notes and all this crap is coming up in my lungs," he said as he strummed the beginning chords to "Grand Theft Autumn." "That means if you know this song you gotta sing it." His sickness didn't hinder the show too much except for the occasional voice cracks, which were completely understandable. It made it all the more impressive when he went for the massive vocal runs during songs like "Headfirst Slide" and " Disloyal Order Of Water Buffaloes ."

During their slower, acoustic guitar-driven track, " Fake Out ," glowing pink lights lit up the stadium from the  So Much (for) Stardust Project . Fans provided and handed out the small, pink Magic 8 ball cut-outs before the show, and audience members held them over their phone flashlights while the tune played out. Then, the lights went down and a piano was wheeled onto the stage.

Stump sat down alone at the piano, prepared to wow the concertgoers. Every show, he plays an impromptu medley that concludes with a cover of Queen's "Don't  Stop Me Now ." For Columbus, he sang one of the band's newer tracks, " What a Time To Be Alive ," and an older, heartfelt tune, " What A Catch, Donnie ." Given Stump's sickness, hearing these two vocally demanding tracks was surprising, but he sang them flawlessly. Even before he played, he said, "I think I'm just going to go for it, and you're going to hear some bad notes."

After the full band Queen cover, the phone flashlights came out again for their emotional piano track, " So Much (for) Stardust ," the title song off their newest album. At the end of the song, Pete Wentz hopped on top of the piano and started with a small snippet of the spoken word ending of " 20 Dollar Nosebleed ." Then, he transitioned into another spoken word track, " Baby Annihilation ," to which he ended by lifting a black sheet over himself, shaking it and disappearing like a magic trick.

Without Wentz on stage, the rest of the band started on a cover of " Song 2 " by Blur. Later, it's revealed that Wentz ran over to the b-stage on the other side of the stadium and lifted into the air to play another pop-punk hit, " Dance, Dance ." Eventually, Wentz returns to the main stage to play another new track, " Hold Me Like a Grudge ."

The night's final surprise came from the "Magic 8 Ball." Every night on tour, the band asks the projected Magic 8 Ball at the top of the stage what song they should play next. The song is different every night, ranging from never-before-played-live tracks or hidden b-sides that haven't been played in a while. For the night's Magic 8 Ball track, they played " Fourth of July ," a song from their 2015 record, " American Beauty/American Psycho ." The fan-favorite track had not been played live since 2017.

The show closed with a hit-heavy encore. Fire and pyro lit up the stage for " My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up) " and " Thnks fr th Mmrs ." Thankfully, I did not almost get my head crushed this time since I was in the stadium's lower bowl. Then, " Centuries " and " Saturday " closed out the show with Wentz going into the crowd and screaming along with Stump for the remainder of "Saturday."

I had an absolute blast seeing my favorite band of all time in Columbus at the Schottenstein Center. The band was lively, keeping the crowd enraptured in their shenanigans. Although Stump was sick, they kept it together and put on an amazing show. If you ever have the inkling to go to a Fall Out Boy concert, do it, or you may regret it.

Concert review: Despite illness, Fall Out Boy delivers at sold-out Columbus concert

fall out boy full tour dates

Tickets to a Fall Out Boy concert should come with a warning: not for the faint of heart.

From the opening notes of "Love From the Other Side" to the last guitar riffs in the traditional concert-ender "Saturday," the quartet rocked the stage at the Schottenstein Center Friday night in a feast for the eyes and the ears.

Bassist and primary lyricist Pete Wentz shot flames out of his bass during the choruses of "The Phoenix," the band's second number, as fireworks and flames erupted from the stage. As the band played "Uma Thurman" at the close of its high-energy opening four songs, a man in a rabbit costume danced around while a large snail and cactus were also onstage.

Concerts, film, comedy, more: Make plans this weekend with these 10 cool things to do in Columbus

During "This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race," a large dog head was featured onstage, even singing along to the chorus, followed later on in the show by a large owl that Wentz magically appeared in after disappearing from the top of the piano onstage. Wentz then made his way — again through the art of visual illusion (or maybe a well-suited body double) — to the middle of the arena for "So Much (for) Stardust" before walking back among the crowd to the stage.

The nearly two hours of vocal acrobatics from lead singer Patrick Stump were even more impressive Friday night as Stump told the sold-out crowd he felt "really, really sick" and was having trouble hitting the big notes. Any signs of illness wouldn't have been detectable had Stump not mentioned it, although his voice did show signs of strain during his set on the piano.

The piano set featured a partial cover of Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now," a well-received treat for fans.

Concert review: Olivia Rodrigo rocks her sold-out concert Friday night in Nationwide Arena

Signs of illness also likely led to the band's decision to play straight into its encore of "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark," "Thnks fr th Mmrs," "Centuries" and "Saturday" instead of going off stage and coming back.

(Wentz had also noted during the show that some Mexican food he had eaten did not seem to be agreeing with his stomach.)

Fall Out Boy, who have been touring for more than 20 years, played a show that catered to all. Fans ranged in age from young children wearing headphones at their first concert to those who appeared old enough to be grandparents.

And although the concert featured songs that even a casual fan could sing along too, the band paid tribute to the fans who have been with them from the start. After lowering a portion of the stage apparatus to give the appearance of a more intimate venue, the band performed "Dead on Arrival," "Grand Theft Autumn/Where is Your Boy" and "Calm Before the Storm" from their 2003 debut album.

Playing the classics: Tim McGraw's Columbus concert a hit for country music star's fans

Fans who have followed the band for their entire journey appreciated the throwback to a time when the band, who weren't quite the mainstream radio mainstays they are 20 years later, played secret shows at small venues announced only a day or two in advance.

Fall Out Boy's success now and the path their career took is similar to the trail CARR, an up-and-comer in the alt-pop scene who opened the show with a short set, is taking. Wentz urged the crowd to buy CARR's merchandise, noting she was trying to do a "bus tour in a van."

Hot Mulligan, a Michigan band who, based off of the audience reaction already has a significant following, then performed a set.

'Not going to get it right every time': Wentz, Fall Out Boy aren't ready to give up pushing boundaries

Those two acts were followed by a nearly hourlong set from Jimmy Eat World, giving fans of the emo and alternative scenes from the early 2000s a step back in time. The band, who Fall Out Boy cites as helping them break onto the scene, closed their set with their most well-known hit "The Middle," getting nearly everyone in the arena, already full in anticipation of the headliners, on their feet.

The entire concert experience Friday night was a love song to those who may not fit into the cookie-cutter molds created by society.

As Fall Out Boy's performance was coming to a close, the band gathered at the front of the stage for a photo with the crowd in the background. The ritual is a part of all their shows, giving the crowd and the four members of the band a lasting memory — and one that was great.

Fall Out Boy covers David Allan Coe in Nashville show. Here are the night's top moments

O n Easter Sunday, Fall Out Boy hit the stage at a packed Bridgestone Arena clad in blacks and grays, ready to stomp, kick, belt and scream. And scream they did.

The rock band, known for their pop-punk and alternative-emo flair, stopped in Nashville as part of their "So Much For (2our) Dust Tour," an extension of their 2023 run in support of their latest record, "So Much Stardust," their eighth studio album.

The band is best known for hits "Centuries," "Thnks fr th Mmrs" and "Sugar, We're Goin Down."

Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.

They kicked off the second leg of their tour in February in Portland, Ore., and hit cities in Texas, Florida, New York and more before making their way down to Music City.

Nashville is one of the final stops for the band who will have played 75 shows on their "Dust" tours; Nashvillians showed out for the band.

The arena was full of fans donning combat boots, black clothing, thick eyeliner and colorful hair.

The show began early with the first two openers CARR and Hot Mulligan. Jimmy Eat World followed, a rock band known for songs "The Middle" and "Sweetness."

And then, the members of Fall Out Boy entered.

Fall Out Boy's vocalist Patrick Stump told the crowd he was on day three of battling a flu-like illness, but his singing voice showed no signs of weakness.

Stump's vocals held power with soaring belts and his familiar piercing, punk quality. Stump, who has been called one of the best voices in pop-punk, lived up to it at his Nashville show.

Lead guitarist Joe Trohman impressed with soaring guitar riffs and extreme precision on songs "Uma Thurman," the bands cover of Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now" and hit "Thnks fr th Mmrs."

Drummer Andy Hurley took to the stage shirtless, but thoroughly covered in tattoos, as flames shot up around him. Bassist Pete Wentz rocked a hoodie even in the midst of the heat emanating from his flame-shooting electric bass.

Wentz, also the band's lyricist (and some would say the frontman), kept his usual deadpan rockstar demeanor throughout the show as he jammed, but would occasionally step up to the mic to give one of his famous growly and aggressive screams.

Over a two hour show, Fall Out Boy took the crowd through a combination of hits from their catalogue, showcasing songs from different chapters of their 23 years together as a band.

The audience was just as eager to sing along to the recent 2023 songs as they were the 2005 hits, showing a crowd that went beyond loyal fans. They were a cult following.

Here are some highlight's from Fall Out Boy's Easter show in Nashville.

Smoke, fire, magic and more...

Fall Out Boy started out the night with their new song "Love From the Other Side" while the crowd yelled and strobe lights flashed.

Fireworks burst in line with the song's beats as Stump sang, "Love from the other side of the apocalypse / And I just about snapped / Don't look back / Every lover's got a little dagger in their hand."

Fireballs and columns of flames ignited during song "The Phoenix" and even Wentz's bass was ablaze while smoke poured over the stage.

But that's not where the visual spectacle ended. For the whole evening, the band leaned into a whimsical but dark, almost Tim Burton-like aesthetic fueled by puppets, magic tricks and sets that changed every few songs.

During "Uma Thurman," the stage was covered with giant cacti and a desert backdrop. A human-sized moving snail danced in the background while a man dressed in a bunny suit hopped around the stage and bowed down to the band.

Bassist Wentz invited the bunny to stage onstage for another song, adding that he was supposed to leave after one song, but since it was "kind of his day" on Easter Sunday, he could stick around.

During "This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race," a giant Doberman's head appeared, seemingly controlled by a puppeteer with a rope.

The dog was more than just display. Stump approached it and sang the chorus, the dog's mouth opened and mouthed along to the song as the crowd chanted the lyrics, "This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race."

The visual extravaganza continued. After "So Much (for) Stardust," Wentz performed a spoken word piece from "Baby Annihilation" standing on top of a grand piano.

At the song's conclusion, he threw a curtain in the air and seemingly vanished into space.

Wentz later reappeared on a column in the middle of the Bridgestone crowd, where he was escorted by guards through the audience during the song "20 Dollar Nosebleed." Wentz continued to play his bass throughout the entire ordeal.

Stump covers classic country song, dedicates to dad

Stump hit the stage without the band for a few songs, accompanying himself on a grand piano and acoustic guitar. Wentz sauntered off stage after joking that acoustics were meant for campfire gatherings.

On the stage alone, Stump said, "It's always intimidating playing in Nashville 'cause all these musicians. Everybody's a musician here. Everybody's pretty good."

"I'm from Chicago and I didn't know anything about country music growing up," he continued. "There's a lot of country music and it was all lost on me....And there was this songwriter that I loved a lot growing up and I had no idea that he apparently wrote a country song."

Humbly, he said, "So I'm gonna see how I do!" He added that he would be dedicating the song to his father for his birthday, though he wasn't in the crowd that evening.

Wentz sang "You Never Even Called Me by My Name," a song originally written by Steve Goodman—the songwriter Stump was referring to—and John Prine. The tune was more famously recorded by country singer David Allan Coe in 1975.

Stump's foray into country music in Music City was well-received as fans sang along and cheered him on. His pop-punk voice was surprisingly suited for the genre switch-up, showcasing Stump's versatility.

Stump sang, "You don't have to call me Waylon Jennings / And you don't have to call me Charlie Pride / And you don't have to call me Merle Haggard anymore / Even though you're on my fighting side."

Magic 8-Ball Song: 'Jet Pack Blues'

On their tours, Fall Out Boy surprises fans with a different song each night, a tradition they call the Magic 8-Ball song. Later shows will usually include repeats or songs that have been performed on prior tours.

The song is often an older hit or a brand new one that may not have ever been performed live. Tonight, it was right in the middle with 2015 song "Jet Pack Blues."

Stump sang, "I got those jet pack blues / Just like Judy / The kind that makes June feel like September / I'm the last one that you'll ever remember."

Following the 8-Ball song, the encore commenced.

The band performed "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)," "Thnks fr th Mmrs," their hit "Centuries" and final song "Saturday." The evening closed out with confetti bursts as Wentz grabbed people's hands in the crowd.

"'Til next time, Nashville," the band said.

Since the inception back in 2019, the Grey Day Tour has a become a massive live platform for New Orleans-based hip hop outliers, $uicideboy$. The hugely successful tour has grown exponentially each year and the 2024 installment now marks the biggest edition of the annual North American caravan to date.

Set to begin August 7th in Nashville, TN at Bridgestone Arena the duo of $crim and Ruby da Cherry will embark on a 41-date arena trek across North America that will conclude in the fall with a closing set in Lincoln, NE at Pinnacle Bank Arena on October 11th.

The 2024 edition of the Grey Day Tour will veer slightly from it's meld of hip hop and hardcore though still going with hardcore adjacent hip hop artists featuring  the likes of Denzel Currry, Pouya,  HAARPER, Shakewell, and Ekkstacy. Additionally, the latest Grey Day Tour will nurture a partnership between $uicideboy$ and PLUS1  advocating for mental health.  $1 per ticket will go towards the organization which offers vital services and resources for helping those most in need.

Paired with the news of the newest installment of the Grey Day Tour, $uicideboy$ have followed the recent release of the single, "Us Vs Them" with the confirmation of their next full length album, New World Depression . While the single has since been soaring on streaming services with several additions to various playlists, the track serves as an indicator of what's to come - with an album that further delves into weighty themes including navigating fame, veering from self-destruction, the journey of self-discovery in a climate of chaos.
