1Cover Comprehensive Travel Insurance is available to all ages, and includes children up to age 19 in an adult’s plan–if the child is not in full time employment and is travelling with you 100% of the time.

Personal liability is covered up to $5 million, while credit card fraud is also covered up to $5000. While the insurance covers cancellations of its plan if policy holders decide it is not best for them, there are cancellation terms depending on your circumstances.

It also covers connecting flights if the layover was more than four hours and car hire excess of $5000, which can be increased to $6000, $7000 or $8000.

Lost luggage

1Cover Comprehensive Travel Insurance covers lost luggage up to the value of $15,000. For individuals requiring higher values, additional luggage cover can be added on at various rates depending on the value.

Unlimited overseas medical and hospital expenses are covered. Pre-existing medical conditions are also covered, but need to be disclosed prior.

Is dental cover included in medical?

The 1Cover Comprehensive Travel plan does include dental, however it is limited up to $1000.

It depends. The 1Cover Comprehensive Travel plan includes COVID-19 in its medical expenses. However, it does not include flight or travel cancellations due to COVID-19.

As mentioned, connecting flights are only covered if the layover was more than four hours. This includes missed connections due to COVID-related delays.

Pregnancy is covered up to week 24 if pregnant with one baby. For any more than one baby, the pregnancy cover is only up to week 19.

There are 35 pre-existing medical conditions that are covered by 1Cover Comprehensive Travel Insurance, as per its product disclosure statement. These include–but are not limited to–mental illness, heart conditions, any type of cancer, terminal illness and any physical or mental disability.

While these conditions are covered, a medical assessment may be required along with other past medical documentation of the condition.

There are more than 100 sports and activities covered in the 1Cover Comprehensive Travel Plan. However, winter sports are only covered when winter sports cover is added to the policy at an additional cost.

The Winter Sports pack must be added at least 24 hours before partaking in winter sport activities, and policy holders must be aged 64 or under at the time of the policy issuing.

According to reviews, 1Cover is easy to contact and has a good response over both web chat and email.

1Cover has 24/7 emergency assistance which can be accessed over the phone, and emailed enquiries will receive a response within a business day according to the 1Cover website.

1Cover comprehensive travel insurance is an affordable, comprehensive plan with multiple options to add or increase cover to suit the individual traveller. However, while unlimited medical expenses is ideal, there is a limit to dental of $1000–which could easily be exceeded if extensive overseas treatment is required.

All ages are covered, so anyone of any age can take out the policy (keeping in mind that there may be age restrictions for certain add-ons, such as the Winter Sports Plan). Travellers aged over 80 will incur an excess of $3000 and are only covered for a maximum of six months.
